The Dragonblade
“-She’s up to her ears in patients because she can’t bring herself to charge people who are suffering and in pain. It’s… Honestly been an issue financially, and Celes and I have dipped multiple times into the coffers from the mercenary side of our operations to fund it. I also sold off a property that we gained from one of Celes and I’s first adventures to a collector, to stabilize that clinic so Yuna could keep doing that. All that money was going to go to a base in Provo, to expand our operations there. But Yuna wanted to run a clinic, and… We support her. She’s helped a lot of people in that venture, and… It’s honestly nice to help without spilling blood for once.”
These were the words Caius spoke to an associate while on the way to Provo, whom had asked about the status of said base.
“In the end, Dragonblades flock there to help out, and it’s a place for them to convene. Celes I think hands out jobs when sent there too, so… I guess all’s well that ends well?”
Said associate would be sent back to Torensten as a missive for Celes. He would be headed back to Torensten once he had finished his business here, but he needed to handle this quickly.
Back in Sonora, Caius had fired three sniper shots, and even added a bit of explosive to the final one that ensured extra panic to the guards before escaping into the distance where he would meet a vehicle driven by associates in Sonora. His plan? To escape Sonora while the prison break was still ongoing. It would strengthen his alibi, and ensure no danger to the Dragonblades. The first two shots had taken out their cameras based off the blueprints they had found, while the third was meant to make the guards think they were under attack and scramble to get their cargo inside for fear of a raid. This gave Noctis and Prompto the choice of sneaking in amongst the commotion, or slipping into some of the cargo being rushed inside. Caius himself could then slip out undetected this way, with no chance for the cameras to zoom in and see the look of his snow gear that covered him. Why? Because without knowing his gear’s appearance, they couldn’t even check cameras on the nearest road in hopes of tracking the sniper’s vehicle.
Though to be safe, he had been driven to a certain point then took public transport out of the country. Law enforcement hadn’t been alerted of a prison break being ongoing just yet, so he had gotten out without a hitch. At least on paper, the vaguest suspicion of Caius’ involvement would be like finding a needle in a haystack.
If not for Alexander Sorel, anyway.
But the moment he had escaped, Caius had beelined straight for Provo. Because he knew one thing. He had no doubt they would succeed. And when they did, said Alexander Sorel would aim for Yuna. Caius had zero faith that Alex would use a modicum of common sense, and attempts to contact Cassandra had failed so far. He had one shot to get to Yuna before Alex did. There wasn’t much choice here, he was going to have to take it.
Upon his arrival, he made straight for the clinic. He was more than exhausted at this point, but Yuna needed to be spoken to. And warned.
The sight of so many sick, so many dying, was difficult to watch. If only his healing magic were stronger… Perhaps he could help make a difference here as Yuna and Celes could. He hated that he couldn't be of the same help as them, and that made him retch even more than seeing the sick and dying.
As much as he hated tearing her from here, he needed to get Yuna out of here. If there was even the slightest chance that Alex was right, they couldn’t risk Shiva tempering the patients here. Yuna would never want to put them at risk like that. He needed to find out how Yuna had obtained the ability to summon Shiva here in Zephon, even when cut off from her own world. And what this Shiva really was. The sooner he got to the bottom of this, the better.
For Provo’s sake. And Yuna’s.

I live for the people of Spira, and would have gladly died for them, but no more!
[attr=class, bulk] “Cura,” Yuna muttered, leaning over the man on the bed who currently had a large gash in his side. She had ushered him off quickly to her exam room after his family had brought him in with his shirt completely saturated with blood. Still, it seemed to have looked much worse than it actually was, and the summoner let out a breath of relief as her spell slowly stitched the wound back together. He was left looking pale and his clothing was still ruined, but he would walk out of here on his own. That was all that mattered.
Yuna brought the man some water before she helped him up to a sitting position so he could actually drink it. “Here, you should sip this if you can. You’ve lost a lot of blood.” Her magic couldn’t help much with that part unfortunately. She would have saved a lot more lives over the years if it could have.
Before she could give him any more instructions, Lyari poked his head in the door to get her attention. He was a dark-haired man in his early twenties who happened to be her new receptionist. Celes had recruited him at the same job fair where she had found Monori, and he had been a huge help ever since. Truthfully he was a bit clueless at the actual paperwork side of things, but he was a complete sweetheart at dealing with the patients and their families while they were waiting, and Yuna considered that to be the more important half of the job. “Hey, Yuna? You got a Dragonblades’ visitor. Want me to set him up upstairs?” Members from Torensten passed through all the time, and they were always welcome to stay in one of the guest rooms upstairs. In this case though, Yuna decided that she had time to go see who it was first. They were busy, but between Monori taking over half her workload and Lyari handling everything out front, the clinic’s pace felt downright luxurious lately.
“I’ll be out in a second,” she reassured him before turning back to her current patient. “Stay seated for at least fifteen minutes, okay? If you don’t feel dizzy after that, then you should be all set. Oh! Lyari, can you let his family know that they can come see him now?” Her receptionist gave her a thumbs up, and after making sure everything was settled there, Yuna headed into the waiting room to see who her visitor was. As she spotted a tell-tale blond beard and blue scale armor near the entrance, Yuna broke out into a smile and picked up the pace.
“Caius! I was wondering when you’d be back. I was getting worried.” She really hadn’t heard from him in a long time, and almost all of what she had heard had come down the pipeline from Celes. Yuna had privately wondered if he was okay, but as she stopped in front of him, she could tell pretty quickly that he wasn’t. Caius looked exhausted. Whatever he had been up to in Sonora, it had taken a toll on him, and Yuna felt her smile drop into a look of concern. “Is everything okay?”

The Dragonblade
As much as Caius wanted to sit there and wait for Yuna, his conscience had gotten the better of him. The mercenary had disappeared very quickly after being left in the waiting room, and when Yuna had found him, he had just finished changing the bandages of one of the patients. Caius was no healer, but he was a well-trained field medic. This, he could do. And it had only taken a glance to notice that the bandages had torn from the patients' moving around too much. He wasn't surprised or even blamed them one bit, the wound looked painful. But it needed to be dressed again as soon as possible. He hadn't even bothered to go looking for Yuna's stock, he had just summoned his own from the glaive and got to work.
Caius had just finished in what must have been record time to some, and had strolled back into the waiting room without a word or a sound when Yuna had walked in. He managed the warmest smile he could at the long-awaited sight of the Summoner, whom he hadn't seen for some time. But his exhaustion made that harder than he would like. Yuna seemed to notice, too, because she immediately asked for his welfare.
"It was a long trip," Caius spoke softly in kind. "I have to return sooner than I would like, as well. You know how it gets -- a potential threat's popped up so I need to handle it. But I was worried about you, and wanted to stop in."
His gaze momentarily moved to the figures moving to and fro throughout the clinic. They were new, he noted. He had been gone awhile, hadn't he? Celes had wrote him about the state of the clinic, and it hadn't sounded good. But as much as he knew he shouldn't have been, he was surprised to see how well-staffed it had become. No wonder it had been so expensive. Still, Yuna clearly had some relief now. That was worth every bit of the cost and effort.
He supposed he shouldn't keep her for longer than need be, though. Best to get down to business.
"I gathered some intel as well that reminded me I wanted to ask some questions about your summoning. Do you mind if I take you out for a bit whilst I pick your brain? You could use the break, and I'll buy lunch for us both. I'll be going from here to Torensten to check on Celes before I go, so I won't take up too much of your time."
Caius couldn't bold-faced lie. Only phrase his words carefully. But he needed to get Yuna out of here before he told her she was potentially in danger. And even if this Shiva of hers was safe, he knew Yuna well. There was no way she was getting the rest and nutrition she needed. Saving lives and taking care of his people was worth a little gil.

[attr=class, bulk] Caius was coming out from one of the side rooms when Yuna found him by the front door, but she failed to ask what he had been up to when she noticed how exhausted he looked. He explained that it had been a long trip, though the summoner suspected that was the least of his problems right now. He also alluded to a potential threat that meant he’d have to return to Sonora soon, which made Yuna frown and look him over carefully. “I would come if you needed help with that,” she reminded him gently, before tilting her head as he explained why he’d stopped by. “You were worried about me?” Yuna hadn’t been involved in anything particularly dangerous while Caius had been gone, so she wasn’t sure what he meant until she noticed his eyes on Lyari behind her.
“Oh!” Yuna felt her cheeks redden a little as she realized that he must have been talking to Celes. “I’m doing much better. Celes has been a big help with recruiting. Lyari’s our new receptionist—he’s from Zephon originally. Then Monori’s a white mage, and she’s an offworlder like us. I’ll have to introduce you when you have time. I’m…sorry I didn’t ask for help before.” Tidus had once confessed to her that Sir Auron had described her as ‘serious to a fault and doesn’t ask for help.’ She had been pretty put-out by that at the time, but maybe the older guardian had a point. Sir Auron usually did if she was being honest.
To her surprise, Caius apparently had some questions about her summoning. Yuna had no idea what her aeons had to do with helping his king in Sonora, but maybe it was related to the new threat he’d alluded to. Regardless, she trusted the kingsglaive, so she nodded slowly when he asked if he could take her out to lunch to talk about it. “Alright, let me ask Monori if she has everything covered. I hope I can solve your summon problem…”
Turning away, she quickly looked in on the other white mage and made sure that nothing was too dire before she packed up and returned to Caius by the door a few minutes later. “Ready when you are,” she informed him with a slight smile. “I’ll let you pick since you don’t get to spend as much time in Provo.” He was usually busy down at the main branch in Torensten, and he’d been even busier than usual lately with whatever had been happening up in Sonora. She didn’t press him on that immediately though—she had a feeling he would tell her what was wrong over lunch anyway. All Yuna added instead was the truth. “It really is good to see you again, Caius. I’m glad you made it back safe.”

The Dragonblade
Yuna proposed the possibility of her going with him, and he nodded his head then. "I appreciate that. If I can find a means for you to assist, I will be in touch" he answered politely yet exhaustedly. To be frank, he had no idea if Yuna could help with this. And she was better needed here. But for a moment, she didn't seem to know why he would be worried about her. He raised a brow, waiting to see if she'd get it, and she did seem to after a moment or so. Yes, the clinic. The one that she had been driving herself into the ground to run.
"Celes kept in touch on the matter. I wish I had known sooner, or I would have stepped in back then" he admitted softly as Yuna talked about their new staff and how much Celes had done. In Celes' absence, Caius had completely broken from his previous lifestyle and learned to adjust to a new one from scratch to accommodate for her. But if Celes' long vacation had led to Yuna's clinic flourishing as it now seemed to be however, then to Caius that was worth it. "I'm happy to hear that you and your clinic are doing better. She painted a very concerning picture, and I regret lacking the healing prowess to have lent much of a hand."
Somehow Caius had the impression Yuna thought that he was still talking about his original errand in Sonora. He would have to correct that when they had a chance, but for now the best thing was to get her out of here. Yuna would get things squared, then ask him to pick a place since he wasn't as familiar here. Which was a problem, as Caius didn't know many establishments in Provo.
"I'm glad to be back," he spoke softly, with a small smile when she said she was glad to see him back safe. "I really don't like Sonora."
Caius wasn't even going to mince words on that one. So off they went, and Caius would need to get recommendations from Yuna before they got anywhere. Eventually, Caius picked a nice casual lunch spot. It was a bit after lunch, so it was basically empty. It was honestly perfect.
"While we get our orders sorted, I wanted to ask" he brought up as he peered up at the menu. Get the hard part out of the way first, he decided. "This Shiva that you summon. As you know, Shiva is an "Astral", or god, in my world. Is the Shiva you summon for combat the same one from your world? How exactly do you summon it? Is it a sentient force of nature of its own, or is it a construct?"
A creature or an egi. The answer would drastically change the nature of what came next.

I live for the people of Spira, and would have gladly died for them, but no more!
[attr=class, bulk] Caius said that he would be in touch if he needed help, but Yuna had a feeling that he was just being polite. He was either too exhausted to delegate any tasks right now, or he had as much trouble asking for help as she did. Yuna wasn’t sure which one was true, but either way she didn’t press him on it. She did let out a small sigh as he mentioned what Celes had said about the place though. “It was busier than I expected it to be with no disasters.” Healers had been in high demand in Spira, but that was understandable given the havoc that Sin was constantly wrecking. Here, it had surprised her a little. Maybe there would just always be accidents and injuries wherever people gathered. “I didn’t mind it, but it meant that I couldn’t help as many people as I wanted. I’m grateful to Celes for taking the time to recruit for me…”
Come to think of it, she hoped that everything was okay between him and Celes. The general had confided in Yuna that things had been a little strained, which was partially why Celes had come to visit. That had been months ago though, so hopefully the two had managed to straighten everything out. Either way, Yuna didn’t think it was polite to ask about it. She did slide in a small offer though in an attempt to help. “You could always take one of the guest rooms upstairs for a night if you want to rest before continuing on to Torensten.” It was offered gently yet firmly as she glanced at the dark circles under his eyes. “You look like you could use a full night of sleep in a bed.” Glass houses maybe, but she could worry about him too. It went both ways.
Yuna also couldn’t help but laugh as they set off from the clinic and Caius said that he really didn’t like Sonora. “I don’t blame you.” She honestly had only been there a handful of times herself, and she had never liked what she had seen. She wasn’t comfortable around so much machina at the best of times, and certainly not when it was also freezing cold and the country was ruled with an iron fist. There was a reason she stayed in the south.
Yuna gave Caius a few local recommendations for lunch, but left the ultimate decision up to him since he didn’t live in the area like she did. He chose a nice little cafe, and since it was currently somewhere between lunch and dinner, they were some of the only patrons. Yuna didn’t mind—she preferred the quiet. Maybe it was a product of growing up on an island as small as Besaid had been.
As they looked over the menus, Caius dove right in by asking her questions about her summoning. They were so oddly specific that Yuna blinked up at him for a moment before nodding slowly and setting down the menu. She wanted to give him her full attention if this was as important as he’d implied. “No. This is not the Shiva that I knew from Spira.” she said with a slightly sad smile. She had watched her aeons die after all. They had been forced to kill them when Yevon had attempted to possess them one by one. “On Spira, there were eight aeons that I could summon. I had to travel to each of their temples, undergo their trials, and pray to the fayth to be granted their power. It creates a bond between the summoner and the aeon. I could always feel them there…” Until she’d killed them of course. Yuna paused before continuing.
“I don’t know why Shiva is the only one I can summon here, because I’ve heard others from Spira mentioned. At least Ifrit and Bahamut. But I can’t call on them. I’ve tried, and I just don’t feel them there. I’ve wondered if this world’s Shiva is just the most similar to how she is on Spira, and so our bond is intact…” That part was hard to say. It was really just Yuna guessing at this point. “I’ve looked up things about her here. Zephon’s version of Shiva used to be worshiped in Sonora. Some people on Mount Hotan still do. They say she saved the north from being wiped out by a blizzard a long time ago. I’m…not really sure if that makes her sentient or a construct though.”

The Dragonblade
He would take her offer under consideration, but he wasn't sure if there would come a time in this instance that he would find need of her help. Right now though, he needed her help in ascertaining if there was a bigger threat at large. "As much as I know the Rest has missed having her, I am glad she has been here to help you out" Caius brought up regarding Celes. He had missed her a great deal himself, but he didn't think that was a personal detail meriting mention. But he did indeed yearn to see his friend again after all this time. Was she still the same as she was? Looking around at the clinic, she was definitely still exceedingly efficient when it came to turning a startup into a success.
It was that obvious he was tired, aye? "I greatly appreciate the offer," Caius expressed, grateful for the attempt. "Unfortunately, I am running on a timetable. Sleep will have to come after I get back on the road. I need to begin helping Celes with cleaning up what I've been hearing about Torensten. Then I need to make travel arrangements to go back and forth between the regions again."
It had felt like years since he had been anything but home-bound. He had spent all this time traveling without a commitment to any one place. But stepping up while Celes was out in Provo had kept him more domestic within Torensten. Now he had to travel again, this time because it was necessary instead of because it was the life he knew. He would miss that more domestic life, though... Perhaps in time, he would be able to return to it. Once Lumina was cured. She had made no secret of her desire for them to move in together eventually, though that was a conversation for another day.
Perhaps his questions about her summoning were suspect, but Caius never asked things without a reason. He appreciated her giving it the focus it needed. She explained the process, and it seemed indeed these summons were sentient, ones they formed a bond with. But to his horror, they were not in fact the ones she had used here. Instead, she had come into contact with something else entirely.
That was a problem. That was a serious problem. Was he in danger? Could Shiva lash out at him here and now if he wasn't careful? Could he be tempered as Alex had claimed? But the strangest thing was that Yuna hadn't even made contact with this Shiva on purpose or by any real circumstances -- she had tried to summon her own, and this Shiva had come. He also recognized Ifrit and Bahamut, and it seemed both Spira and Zephon had versions of them.
Caius felt his hand unconsciously move to the scar on his neck at mention of the Infernian. This whole thing was... Bad. They didn't know the nature of this world's Shiva, only that it came at her call and a few rumors. Which meant he couldn't head off Alex peacefully. This was going to come to blows.
"I was afraid of that," Caius admitted softly, letting out a long sigh as his hand then found itself holding his forehead. "If we could prove it was an egi, I could have averted any danger. But if we don't know, then conflict may be unavoidable."
He had no choice. He had to tell her the truth. He couldn't stay here and wait for Alex, and Yuna would find out eventually if Alex did come for her. It was best she knew now, even if that risk tempering, risked this Shiva lashing out. But that was why he had chosen this place, wasn't it? If the Eikon lashed out, he could at least mitigate casualties if he could avoid its tempering.
"Yuna, I want you to listen to me carefully," Caius spoke softly, lowering his voice as his tone grew gravely serious. "I imagine you know the name Alexander Sorel. Leader of the Rising Stones here in Provo, attempted to sabotage your clinic, giant blustering pain in the ass. To make a long story short, I have reason to believe part of his act is just that, and he is more dangerous than he seems. To make matters worse, he is aware of your connection to Shiva. In his world, Eikons as he calls them, were a massive danger to its people, draining aether and doing harm to people as they pleased. He thinks your Shiva may be the same, and made it clear to me he's coming for you. To kill Shiva, and if it doesn't stay dead, kill you."
Maybe it was a little too blunt and to the point. But she needed to know. As much as he didn't want to worry her when she was swamped as it is.
"I will not let him harm you. I brought you here to gain what information I could, hoping I could head him off. I've also considered the possibility he'll marshal his Stones for this. Considering he has Sephiroth, the man who injured Cloud and almost destroyed Provo, in his employ. I rushed here as soon as I got out of Sonora, to ensure we had ample time to prepare."
And to find out if her Shiva was a threat, something he couldn't tell Yuna directly. It wasn't her fault, of course. But he didn't know what her connection to this Shiva entailed.

I live for the people of Spira, and would have gladly died for them, but no more!
[attr=class, bulk] Caius gently declined her offer to stay the night, and Yuna sighed a little as she glanced at the circles under his eyes. She nodded to show that she understood though. “I know you want to get back to Sonora as soon as possible. Try to get some rest on the road.” At least he’d be eating well since they were going to lunch right now. She might have also tried to sneak some food into his bag, but he generally stored supplies in his glaive instead of carrying them, so that idea was doomed. Yuna wasn’t sure how exactly to help her friend right now, but hopefully she could solve whatever problems he was having with summons.
Except her answers seemed to make him look even more tired as he muttered something a little confusing. “I’m not sure what you mean by an egi. I don’t know the term,” she admitted, before frowning as Caius said that he needed her to listen very carefully. Yuna nodded slowly, a little surprised when he brought up Alexander Sorel. “I know the name, but I haven’t met him personally. I’ve been meaning to visit his guild though when I had a moment. I think we may have gotten off the wrong foot. I don’t want him to think I’m trying to steal his business.” Celes had some choice words about their encounter in the marketplace. Alex had apparently been a nuisance to everyone she tried to recruit, but maybe if Yuna reassured him that she was seeking to run this branch as more of a white mages’ guild, then they could all be on civil terms. And if he wouldn’t take the olive branch, then she’d make do. She just wanted at least the chance to clear the air.
The more Caius talked though, the less possible that was looking.
“...I see,” she said softly, looking down at the closed menu for a moment without really taking it in. After a moment, she let out a breath and looked back up at her friend with a strained smile. “Thank you for warning me. But if he’s worried about this world and its people, then his concerns are worth addressing. I’ll meet with him.” Yuna wasn’t confident that this wouldn’t end in a fight, but it didn’t need to start that way at least. It sounded like Alex was being needlessly aggressive about this, but maybe he didn’t know that Yuna would be open to talking about the possibility of Shiva being a problem. Yuna had killed her aeons before in order to keep Spira safe, even though it had been one of the hardest things she’d ever done. She would do it again here if she had to.
Of course, the summoner didn’t think that the ice maiden had hurt anyone, but she couldn’t say for certain when she’d only summoned this version of Shiva a handful of times. It was best to at least hear him out.

The Dragonblade
"I'll try" Caius promised softly. It was sweet of Yuna to worry for him, and he supposed he wasn't all that surprised that she would. Still, he was more worried for her than himself. She just wanted to run her clinic and help people. She didn't deserve to be hunted like this. He wished he had never let Alex find out... Though it was likely Alex would discover it eventually. She didn't exactly make a secret of utilizing Shiva on the battlefield. She had done that long before joining the guild. Unfortunately, that didn't make him feel any better.
She didn't know what an egi was? Oh. Caius made a face as he tried to consider a definition... How did he become the one giving language lessons? That was usually Yuna’s job with him. “An egi is like… An apparition. It looks like them, it acts like them. Fights like them. But it is a conjuration instead of the real thing.” That wasn't good. Made it all the more likely they were dealing with the real thing. It would be a bitter pill to swallow if Alex was right that Shiva was an actual threat. But he didn't know enough to know that for sure.
As for Yuna? She decided she was going to meet with him. Because of course she was. How had he thought this was going to go any differently? This was Yuna they were talking about. She had always been like this, and while they had been apart for some time, it wasn't like she was the type to change so drastically.
“I was worried you would say that" Caius admitted with a long, exasperated sigh. He had forgotten about the menu in that moment, as he tried to think of anything, literally anything he could do to amend this situation. Something to dissuade her. But there was nothing. She would meet with him, whether Caius liked it or not. All he could really help with, was the how. “He doesn’t give a damn about this world,” Caius did first correct one thing, at least based off the impression the so-called "Hero" had given. “Alexander Sorel is for himself, and his own whims and wants. He’s made that very clear to me. The Eikons, in his view, threaten his interests. I don’t think trying to appeal to his morals or concern for others is going to do anything.”
His palm wiped his face. He could at least warn Yuna of what to expect. And the best precautions to take. Because...
“I already tried. Even if it’s possible I didn’t try hard enough, I highly doubt that someone who would flaunt in my face that they could save my friend but won’t because they don’t want to, purely out of spite -- has any real morals or strength of character.”
For a moment, his eyes flickered with a hint of genuine anger. He had done his best to be calm as he could be, not wanting to lose himself around Yuna. But Alex's mockery of what he was going through, what the person he cherished most was going through, was...
Unforgivable. Alex was scum, in his eyes. No matter who he claimed to have once been, or his motives for doing what he did now, Caius lacked any respect for the man. Or belief that he was rational in the slightest. “I cannot stop you. But do not go alone, if you can help it. It’s possible he is overconfident enough to try to take you out himself, but I wouldn’t count on it. In his employ is Sephiroth, and likely other disreputables that wouldn't hesitate to level the city. Don't underestimate them. Make sure you’re where you will have backup if need be. I won't be leaving for Sonora again right away, so if things go bad -- I'll come running."

[attr=class, bulk] Caius said that he would try to take care of himself, which was a dubious claim at best with how exhausted he looked, but the subject changed to egis before Yuna could really press him. “Oh.” Yuna frowned slightly as she mulled over that definition. “I suppose that my aeons on Spira could be called egis then. Their real bodies were encased in stone in their temples, and what I called on was only a portion of their power…” Here on Zephon it was trickier to say for certain, since Yuna knew so much less about their legends and traditions. “I’m sorry, I’m really not sure about this world’s gods. I wish I was. I know that would make things easier, but all I really know is that Shiva answered my call when I needed it.”
Caius seemed both exasperated and resigned when Yuna said that she would meet with Alex. He didn’t try to stop her, but he did give her several warnings about the other guild leader that made the summoner frown. “There were more than a few men like that in the church of Yevon. I’ll try to be careful.” Still, she couldn’t help but look at the blond man in concern when he said that Alex had taunted him with the fate of one of his friends. “Caius…Did something else happen in Sonora? Do you mean your king? Is he alright?” It wasn’t related to what they were talking about, but clearly something had happened with one of the kingsglaive’s friends that was still weighing on him heavily. Considering that he had been in Sonora for some kind of dangerous mission, Yuna feared the worst.
Caius also warned her that Sephiroth was in Alex’s employ. That was a name that Yuna had heard exactly once before, but it had made enough of an impact that she straightened in her chair as soon as she remembered the context. “Cloud told me about him when you brought him to the clinic. He tried to literally destroy their world.” That…did not bode well. Yuna didn’t want this to come down to a fight, but it was probably safest to assume that it would. She did have a reputation for trying to do things on her own, but that was looking more and more like it would just be suicide in this case. She’d never met this Alex, so she’d have to trust Caius’ descriptions. Maybe it was time to learn from her mistakes with Maester Seymour and actually accept help from the people around her who were offering.
“I’ll be safe at the clinic,” she tried to reassure Caius. “Monori’s much stronger than me, and I recently healed two dragoons who are staying with us too.” Saying that Dion could transform into Bahamut probably wouldn’t help with her friend’s nerves, but come to think of it, it probably wasn’t a good idea to take the prince around Alex if summons were the entire issue here. “And I’d be happy to take you or Celes with me if that would make you feel better. Please don’t feel obligated though. I don’t want to drag you into anything…”
