both Hyur and Meerkat nodded in understanding to Setro's warning. “The repairs are more important, I think. I have plenty of gil for some time.” She then decided to introduce herself properly. “my name is Renitra Starspear. I'm a Lancer and Dragoon from Eorzea.” She told him succinctly. “... I feel I should add this. But please don't take it as an ego thing. But in my world my deeds gave me many titles. The one everyone knows me by… at least everyone in my world knows me by, is THE WARRIOR OF LIGHT.”
Oleg puffed out his chest proudly and chirped out a familiar jingle (the FF victory theme)
“And this is Oleg, but you already knew that. He's a Meerkat. He loves worms. Eating them.” She said. “I'd say I found him but it's not true. He found me first. In my world, Oleg is a Bojzan name. It means ‘Blessed’ in the Eorzean tongue. I was blessed to have someone like Oleg in the long run. He saved me from myself. From things I would have regretted…” she trailed off. This time Oleg didn't disrupt her because she has caught herself. “Well then Setro. What brings you all the way out here? Are you also an adventurer? Looking to fight monsters for glory and gil? That's how I started. And I guess it's time I went back to my Adventurer roots. I came here to try and perfect two fighting styles. One with spear, one with magic. Magic born of the stars. Of divining the future, to lead people to fortune, and away from their fate.”
As she has her grandiose spiel, she produced a small deck of cards and shows them to him. They looked like tarot cards. There was six full size arts on 6 of them. They must have been major arcana. She showed him one labeled THE BALANCE. At least it was in the Eorzean alphabet. She seemed a bit excited to share her knowledge of Sharlayan Astrology. Then an idea hit her. “Would it be alright to ask your company to protect the merchants to Torensten?” She suggested. Oleg whooped at the idea and did his happy dance.

Renitra was about to go on about how she and Noctis took on Garuda when Caius held his hand up and told her he believes her. The pause was enough for Oleg the Meerkat to come out of his shoulder papoose, clamber onto her head and stomp on it indicating it's time for her to quiet down.
Renitra got the hint and emitted a very long breath. “You have no idea how long I've been waiting to tell someone about it.” She said in earnest. “I've told my friends in the Scions-”
Oleg chirped indicating that he knew she was lying. “Ok I told Krile?” She asked again. Oleg shook his head. “fine. I haven't told anyone. I didn't think they'd believe me. The only ones who actually knows bar me is that reporter for the Raven and Cid Garlond… and probably Biggs and Wedge too since they never leave his side…” she sighed again. “I've… gone through a lot Ser Caius. Too much for a normal man, woman, meerkat or Kingsglaive could or should go through…”
With his master now seemingly calm, Oleg jumped off Renitra's head and climbed back into his papoose as if nothing happened, although his beady meerkat eyes and nose were still visible as Oleg locked onto Caius, puzzling him out. “... That's Oleg.” Renitra said by way of introduction. “He's my… pet… only not a pet…. Companion? Buddy? Partner? I don't know which fits him better. But… I'm going on too much… you said your Noctis had better control over your crystal… how so?” she was now curious about Caius’ world and time and to that end wanted to know how the Noctis she knew and the one he knew were different. She stared with wide, eager and expectant eyes as she waited to hear Caius’ story from his own mouth.

Renitra looked at Oleg who was pleased with the recognition that Setro had given him for his ‘wisdom’. The meerkat put his claws on his hips and puffed out his chest. “If only his wisdom extended into humility and toned down his cheekiness.” Renitra said with a small smile. Oleg looked down and stuck his tongue out. She looked to Setro and shrugged. “Case in point.” she shook her head. “Although his companionship helps a great deal in trying times… and when one feels like they're alone in a world full of people… maybe you understand. Your armor isn't normal. I thought it was Allagian. Like…” she whispered the next words to him. “like it came from my world…”
“I'm what they call an Outsider … the people of this world don't like outsiders… please don't be mad…” she said quickly hoping her suspicion was correct. “But you're an Outsider too, right?” she asked with wide hopeful eyes. “... It's … hard. I've run into three people who were from my world… at least… they were… but they didn't remember me. The third helped me process it and they're most likely from alternative tellings of history. One where someone else was in my shoes.” She sighed and looked like she was going to fall back into the dark place but she caught herself this time. “So… yeah. That's my story in a gyrashl green bud. You said you made friends with some of the merchants in the marshlands? Do they have work? Will they repair my armor instead of gil?” she seemed hopeful at the prospect. “This was a present from my father… I can't leave it behind.” She said simply. “He gave it to me when I started being an adventurer… I know the colors a bit too much. But it reminds me of home. My home's national color is yellow.”
It was at this time Oleg made a noise and gestured to Setro as if asking something. Renitra knew what it meant. “Oleg wants to know if you have a name by the way… I probably should have started with that…”

Oleg the Meerkat was cheerfully chewing on a hunk of bread as Rentira Starspear was studying the notice board at Provo’s Adventurer Guild looking for a new job to do. Renitra was a fan of matter in motion. Even if she was at a loss trying to find a way back to Eorzea, she couldn’t stop herself from looking for something to do. Even if it was to gather 20 boar tusks that chipped off a boar during one of its manic charges in the woods, it was something to do to keep her mind from wandering into the depths of her self loathing and trauma.
“Which one… which one… she murmured as she pulled a slip off the board and studied it. “Bandits again…” she mumbles as she put the slip back. “What do you think Oleg?” She asked looking to her meerkat for some ideas. Oleg duly jumped off her shoulder and grabbed a slip and showed it to her. She took it. This one looked more interesting. “Ooh. Airship pirates…” she murmured. “Taking to the skies to protect cargo… maybe fight a pirate or two. Sounds perfect! And different!” She said smiling. “I’ll do it! But maybe I can get some help ….” She mused looking around to see if any adventurer near by was up for the task. She had spoken loud enough in her excitement that someone should have overheard her.
She took a tag off the slip and went to take the mission as Oleg jumped onto a table to finish his breakfast. One thing about Zephon that the meerkat liked was that there was no Archon Loaf. Oleg loathed the Sharlayan designed bread with a fiery passion that could match Ifrit’s infernos after he unwillingly ate a piece during one of Renitra’s visits to the Rising Stones in Mor Dhona. There were meerkat droppings all over the flower pots of Mor Dhona that day. Oleg let off a soft sigh as his beady little meerkat eyes caught sight of someone and chirped out to Renitra to get her attention.

now it was Renitra's turn to size Setro up while Oleg was looking around, scanning everything with his beady meerkat eyes. “I'm sorry I butted in…” she mumbled. “I thought it was an open conversation…” then the ramble began. “It's that I need to practice with my spear and Planimeter and my friend back in Provo suggested as much and I heard there were traders who were looking for able bodied people to take down monsters or gather this that or the other and pay them for-” her diatribe was disrupted by Oleg who let off a chirp and stomped from his perch on her shoulder.
“Aaaanyway…” She recovered from Oleg's disruption pretty quickly. It seemed to be common between Warrior of Light and pet Meerkat. “I'm sorry. Also what's this about knowing someone who can help with this?” she asked, showing the armor. As she feared it was frayed and scratched to no end, endless use and fighting has certainly taken its toll on the armor. Even her boots and gauntlets, both shining a vibrant Halonic blue, were somewhat grimy and battered. “These were gifts… they're sentimental to me.” She explained. “Daddy has the armor made after he was forced to put down a massive adamantoise that poachers hurt beyond recovery… and the gauntlets and boots were from Ser Amyeric after we sorted out the Dravanian Peace Conference…” she said that last part bitterly. “Nosy obnoxious dragon killing bitch. Why did she drug me for that…?” Her mind had fallen back into bad memories, a signal for Oleg to interrupt, AGAIN.
The meerkat chirped and jumped onto Renitra's head and started pawing all over her head trying to catch her attention. She flinched as Oleg did so. “What the heck Oleg?” She asked as she tried to reach out and grab him. Oleg jumped off and latched on one of the horns on Setro's helmet. Renitra blushed bright red at Oleg's eagerness as he dangled off the horn. Renitra's hand was outstretched to catch the meerkat thinking he would let go of the horn but Oleg surprised her by shimmying onto the helmet and running down Setro and back and climbing up onto Renitra's shoulder. For a few moments Renitra was dumbfounded but she managed to recover just as her face was blushing. She quickly performed a Far Eastern how. “Please forgive me and my meerkat for his exuberance. Gomen ne…” she slipped into the Hinagan tongue before repeating “Please accept our apologies for our antics.”

Renitra listened quietly to the banter. “… what about quests?” She asked abruptly, pushing herself into the conversation. “Do you pay for people to do odd jobs? Beat up some beasties? Collect things?” She offered
Oleg the meerkat appeared from her papoose on her shoulder and sniffed the air. He then turned his head to Setro and studied him. Then instinctively tapped Renitra’s shoulder to signal to her he was curious.
Renitra cut a look to Setro. A good look at him made her instantly turn and stare. “Allagian armor!” She said pointing. “Pristine even! Where on earth did you get it?!” She seemed to have interpreted the armor as being from the Allagian Empire, a precursor civilization from Renitra’s world. “Not even the crystal tower has it with this much shine and luster! G’raha, no… all of the Sons of Saint Conorach would be salivating at this!” Then she looked back to the merchant. “Err… sorry. I uh… do you have any jobs here for an adventurer?” She asked innocently. “I was told the marshlands had traders and travelers who had a lot of odd jobs for adventurers. At least, they say that’s in Provo… I just thought it was a good time to ask…” she trailed off mumbling clearly sheepish. Oleg made a noise and looked at the merchant with his beady eyes, sizing him up.
With that Renitra sheepishly backed away slightly so she wouldn’t intrude, but not so far away as to lose hearing of the discussion, in case there was some odd jobs that she could do. As she backed away she looked down at herself and frowned. She dusted something off the brown leathery sternum covering and noticed it started to flake away. “Oh dear… I need new armor now too… how long have I used this one…” it was a gift from her father when she began her career as an adventurer. It held significant sentimental value for Renitra, to the point she refused stronger, more higher quality armor over it.

“No… way… back..?” Renitra's face turned deathly pale. “No… it can't be… I promised them… surely there is a way Y’sthola… just because you say there is no way… there's no way that we KNOW.” This sounded like an argument Alphinaud would have said. “Oh hells, I sounded like Alphinaud for a moment … he would have teased me if he heard it.” Her face was flushing red again. She was adamant in her wish to the point she will refuse to accept facts.
She clenched her fists trying to clear her mind… only for her armor to rustle and with a cheerful squeak, Oleg popped out and jumped onto the table. Upon seeing Y'sthola, Oleg assumed it was Renitra's version of her and was extremely happy to the point he started bobbing about and shuffling his feet. The distraction caused Renitra to giggle. “Oleg…” she said softly. She looked to Y'sthola and apologetically explained herself. “This is Oleg, my pet Meerkat. He doesn't understand this world. Or that you're not the Y'sthola of my world. He just thinks you're Y'sthola and that's good enough for him. He's doing his happy dance.”
Oleg continues his little happy dance as Renitra verbally stumbles to come to the next point of her reason for coming. “So um… the obvious would be like a VerMalefic and a VerBenefic..” she began. Malefic was a basic astrology spell for damage while Benefic was a basic healing spell. “What if… I don't remember if you know how a Planimeter or Astrometer functions but what if I used it like a Garlean Magitek Bit?” she suggested. “For what it's worth I do know a few basic spells from Conjury and Thaumaturgy… you know. Stone, Wind, Fire, Ice and Thunder… nothing more than that. Probably irrelevant…”
Eventually Oleg stopped his happy dance and stood on his haunches watching the conversation.

“... As long as I'm not… being a nuisance to you…” Renitra said. She tended to use this statement slot to her friends in the Scions back in her world. She had even said one to a storyteller on the Dawn Throne in the Azim Steppe which both storyteller, and her companion at the time, Lord Hien of Doma found to be both adorable and funny.
Renitra's cheeks blushed scarlet as she numbly introduced herself to this reflection of her friend. “My name is Renitra Starspear .. I'm a Lancer… from Gridania.” She mumbled softly “My father is from Doma and my mother hails from Old Sharlayan. Mum claims her parents once served on the Forum. But I do not know if that is good, or what it means…” she admitted. “As I said the first time, I heard there was a Miqo’te who was skilled in magic. I did not expect it to be you. My intention was to seek wisdom. I use the Lance, and an Astrometer...” As she said this she showed Y’sthola her two job crystals. Dragoon and Astrologian. “I want to use them in tandem, similar to the Red Mages of Gyr Abania… or like…” she gulped. “Alieise… she apparently learnt how to use a sword and magics…" She remembered that Gyr Abanian Mi’qote who trained her had mentioned he had trained Aliese.
She sighed as she finally sat down by a table with Y’sthola. She didn’t know what else to say. But then she felt like she had to admit something. “I feel my wish to do so is very selfish. My wish was to meet Zenos again and use both skill sets as one to win. To finally win and go home. Everyone is waiting for me back home… I promised everyone I’d come home. I can’t let them down… Not Rauhban, not Krile… hells, not even Lyse… even if I acted like an actual beast to her… she didn’t deserve the flak and the rudeness I gave her…”

“Ew…” Renitra swatted a fly that was buzzing around her. Ever since her meeting with Y'sthola, Renitra had got it in her head and needed to practice using her Astrometer and Spear in tandem in order to be ready to take on Zenos. To that end she had heard of The Trade routes that go through the marshlands and that they were always looking for someone to deal with the occasional wild beast that was disrupting the passages. Renitra herself was pretty good with beasts. Or at least culling rampaging ones and ill ones. Back when she was a Wood Wailer it was one of her primary duties.
As she looked around in her rented Chocobo mount she frowned. “Some outpost…” she muttered struggling to see it for herself. As she did so, she flinched. The buzzing of another insect was right by her ear. She swatted and smacked herself in the ear as a result. She winced and shook her head. Her head was slightly ringing from that stupid move. “Stupid…” she muttered. But then her voice trailed off. She thought she hears something. Voices. Whispering to her. But it was only for a moment. And at the same time, a memory manifested in her minds eye. She and all her friends were gathering at the Rising Stones. The memory was fuzzy and thus skipped around. It ended with Renitra, Krile and Aliesie exploring the Dravanian Hinterlands. Krile was holding the Crystal Eye, a relic belonging to Y'sthola’s mentor, Master Matoya.
Renitra was tuned out of the world as she processed her memory. That couldn't be right. Was she that lonely in Zephon that her mind fabricated it? Eventually she was roused by a “WAAAAAARK!” of her Chocobo. She blinked a few times and saw that her Chocobo was moving without her input and had taken her the rest of the way she was hoping. Hyur and Chocobo were at an outpost now. A small rest stop for travelers and merchants. She sighed softly in relief as she jumped off the Chocobo, gave him a scratch on the back of his head and looked around, assessing the area in her mind.

Renitra was about to continue about the clockwork MT soldiers when Caius interjected about Daemons. “Huh? MA…? oh right!” She remembered. “Only one. I originally thought it was a Voidsent until Noctis identified it as a Daemon. Voidsent come from a world of pure darkness known as the Void. They drink the Aether of the land and usually come to our world through dread pacts. I assume Daemons work the same way…” she trailed off hoping Caius would respond on that score.
After a small period she spoke again. “After the MTs in Thanalan we went north east, to my homeland of Gridania. There was reports of MTs in an abandoned manor there. Twelve knows how many times I've gone in there and cleared Voidsent out. That's where we found the MA Daemon. Noctis was sad that there was no way home from there. But he was happy that fighting an MA meant he was on the right track. At least that's what he thought. He decided to camp out that night and I joined him. I offered to give him a room at the Carmine Canopy, which is an Inn in Gridania.. but he insisted in the camp fire, these weird fabricin wooden frame chairs called ‘Deck Chairs’ and… camped I guess. We had a chat. Noctis told me about his three friends. What were their names again… Prompto… Gladius… Igneon?” She got the third Kingsglaive name wrong but she was close. “He was talking about how he was on an adventure with them. He didn't explain what the adventure was for but it was very serious. Must have been. He seemed pretty distraught when his Regalia carriage broke down. Next morning he opted to go fishing.” Her lips curved into a small smile at the memory. “It's funny. It's one of the most mundane things but he very much enjoyed it. Even I did! Even though I'm really bad at fishing… I guess it has to do with doing it with other people, you know?”
