That sounded like Y’sthola. Common sense and practicality. She took the breath as instructed and stared long and hard at her. “…I don’t know where to begin… I guess where I last saw you. The last I saw you, you were bleeding out at the hands of Zenos yae Galvus. Krile saved your life…” she started. “At least that’s my version of events. And given you know Alexander, you probably remember something similar. Only it was he, not I who engaged the forces of Garelmald across Ala Mhigo… and beyond…” she sighed. “I didn’t start on a good note with him… to be honest, I dislike him. Mostly because he accused me of being a Crystal Brave. I am nothing like them. At least… I think I am…”
“As for the whole different version of events… I’m also from Eorzea. Only in my world, I’m what Alexander is. The Warrior of Light… or was anyway… ever since I arrived here in Zephon I began to second guess myself. I even found Zenos yae Galvus here, and engaged him in battle, believing that if I could win, I could return home. But what he did to Krile… the horrific things she had to go through because of HIM… it’s given him the power of a voidsent!” She started to outline her recollection of her fight with Zenos in Provo ending with her slumped over a barrel in defeat. She chose not to add her upset stomach after the fact. “I beat him once… as himself. But as Shinryu, I failed. His power ripped a hole through space and time. That’s how I ended up here.”
“I-I-I’m sorry… I probably should have been a lot more coherent and in order too. I kinda went here, there and everywhere… it’s been on my mind for too long. Everything. The Dragonsong war, Ala Mhigo, Doma… I’ve had trouble talking to people about it. Back in my world, the You there has tried to ask me about it. But i always refused to speak about it… I felt…it just… I felt I was disappointing my friends in thr Scions by coming off as weak. You know?”

Renitra sighed softly in frustration. She was about ready to give up the search but in her distracted stumbling about she knocked into someone. If Y'sthola felt what she had crashed into she would have made out the tortoiseshell armor Renitra wore. Firm and warm. But a sense of coldness and brittleness from its endless use.
Renitra looked at the Miqo'te and stared transfixed. “Seven hells… Y'sthola!?” She looked as if she saw a ghost. Immediately she shot her hand out to check something on Ysthola’s person but stopped. “No… it can't be… you're not the one I know. It's impossible. Last I saw you, you were almost to Thal’s domain thanks to that Garlean monster…” she shook her head. “You're from HIS version of Eorzea aren't you. The one where that drunken lout Alexander was Warrior of Light. It's the only answer..” she withdrew her hand. “It's clear my presence near you is an ill omen… I do not deserve it.. I don't wish for what I thought was a friend to denounce me as nothing more that Illberds kin… a Crystal Brave…” she looked around expecting Alexander was lurking about ready to try and strike her down.
She eventually sighed. “I heard there was a sorceress in the area… I assume they meant you. I had come to see help in something… I can't in good conscience ask it of you… we are from different versions of events. I've already caused too much of a scene with Alexander…” Even if he was a drunkard who spoke ill of her in their encounter, she felt bad for it nonetheless. “I can't in good conscience…” she trailed off. “It feels wrong…” she tried again before groaning and holding her head in her hands. “It just feels wrong to talk to you… please don't take offence. It's just… I've known you for a good while. We've fought together against Primals… against the Empire… and now you're here, but you're not the you I know. Your a different you… it just… it feels like we're strangers to each other once more. And that we would consider each other insane for our stories and memories…”

Renitra snapped back to reality when she heard the pleas and protests coming from Violet. She peeked out of her hiding place to see her get pulled into the sack after he futile kicks and screams. “Savages…” she muttered. Renitra had a similar experience when she first arrived in Zephon. However in her case she was mistaken for an opera singer named Maria.
Enough was enough. She had to be rescue. Renitra followed discreetly as the bandits took Violet into a small tent and left her there to stew. Renitra watched and waited for the coast to clear. During this time she heard Violet protesting about her hair. Renitra eyerolled. She sounded like a child of an Ishgardian noble who didn't know the hells of combat. Then she said she was a reporter. “As if they'd understand that… but… she might be helpful…” Renitra thought that if violet had connections she might know of ways to leave Zephon. But that was neither here nor there. She cleared her mind, tensed herself, crouched down and focused her energy into her legs, pushing off the ground and into a majestic Dragoon style jump, arcing over the encampment and behind the tent Violet was in.
She slipped inside and found the sack. “Psst..” Renitra whispered to it. “reporter girl. Are you ok? Keep quiet. I'm going to get you out of there… don't scream. And don't panic if my pet meerkat peers inside.” She pulled out a dagger and slashed the top of the sack, opening a hole. She peered inside. “Your hair is the least of your worries by the way.” She said before instinctively putting a hand in, and covering Violets mouth, gagging her as well as warning herm Violet would have felt her hand as cold because she was wearing gauntlets after all. Renitra put a finger to her lips to warn her not to draw attention to themselves before carefully withdrawing her hand off Violet. “Did they hurt you?”

Renitra tried to will her self to move into their compartment after Caius chose to gently guide her into the train-ship. She had felt someone move her this way a few times before and they were not good occasions so she tried her level best not to freak out.
Once they were inside and Caius asked her for more information her eyes focused and she blinked. “Huh? This world's Noctis? It didn’t happen in this world. It happened in mine! I remember the adventure exactly! It all began in Ul’dah when some people were freaking out over a strange man on the road to the city. I decided to go check it out. I saw a big black… curved carriage. With no Chocobo. And then I saw him. Short spiked black hair, blue eyes. Black shirt, jacket with short sleeves, and leggings that were stiff and black. He called them jeans. Oh and boots too!”
“He was slumped over in defeat. Apparently the carriage, or as he called it the Regalia was broken. He was looking for someone to help him. I tried to help him buuuut… I’m not super strong. Fortunately, enter Cid nan Garlond, Eorzea’s number one source on Magitek. He was more than happy to help so we managed to get his Regalia into a local outpost. Black Bush Station. It was also at the time people were talking about clockwork soldiers. By their description, Noctis recognised them flat out as MT troopers. They must be from Eos, I’m sure. Or where they called MA’s… anyway… he ran off to head them off. I went after him. I felt like he needed help. He was an impressive sight in combat. He kept drawing weapons out of thin air. Blades, hammers, spears… I was sporting a rather pretty rapier and crystal combination to harness Red Magic at the time…”

Sonora was still as bleak as ever. People didn’t seem to mind. Renitra did however. Was that because she was an outsider and wasn’t desensitised to cultures of Zephon’s cities? With a deep unconscious sigh, Renitra pushed her way into what the sign above the entrance called a ‘Game Center’. The dreary cityscape was replaced with neon lightning, excited chattering and a packed atmosphere. Now THIS reminded her of the Gold Saucer back home! She let off a small smile at the memory and thus went to look around. Apparently people wokld crowd around these strange boxes looking at screens to play ‘games’. There was an occasional one that wasn’t a box. They reminded her of two games back in her Gold Saucer. The Finer Miner, and Out On a Limb. She was very good at Out On a Limb.
She went up one floor and saw the floor had been set up as a “racing hall”. She recognised the vibe well because she used to frequent Chocobo Races herself. As a jockey. But there was no Chocobo here. Not real ones at any rate. Apparently there was a game here where people raised virtual Chocobo and put them in races. She felt put out by that. What was the point of it if it wasn’t a real Chocobo!? Although she might as well look around. There was nothing else to do. She had finished her tasks for the Sonora Adventurer’s Guild (if you could call it that…) and she was in no hurry to quiz random people for more work, she had acquired some GP for her efforts… and it seemed most people had ‘issues’ with people from other worlds in this city. She had to keep it very quiet that she was one of them lest she damage her business relationship with the people here. Not to mention she was a member of the Drabonblades. She couldn’t hurt their reputation here either. Not that she knew what their reputation was in Sonora to begin with.
She leaned against a wall and huffed softly trying to collect her thoughts and watch the races on the big screens at one end of the hall, trying to understand the appeal of digital Chocobo racing.

“So by this map there should be a chest around here…” Renitra said. She had recently taken up a small side job as a miner, a common side hustle for Ul’dahn adventurers back home. She figured she needed to do something to keep her busy and to find some sort of ‘exercise’ because she was fond of movie exercise. A gym, training dummies and drills could only get her so far.
It just so happened she had found an old worn treasure map in a bottle during her last little foray of rock and stone and had decided to follow it out of a sense of adventure. Unfortunately for her, the map was a dud, or she misread the map. But she did find adventure. She heard the loud squeals of disgust and distress and quickly dove behind a palm tree. She peeked out slowly to see bandits making off with a pink haired female. She didn’t look like an adventurer. “Oh hells…” Renitra put two and two together. It was a kidnapping. She had to hide her time otherwise that girl could end up in worse situations. Renitra was steadfast. She had to help. If she didn’t, who would?
Eventually she pulled her spear and Astrometer off her back and just for certainty, she grabbed the first Astrology card that orbited the piece. She flipped it over. The Arrow. Cognition. She frowned. She needed more information so she grabbed another card. The Spear. A trial. One more… She pulled it out and looked. The Ewer.
“Maybe… she is a bit clueless… or trying to find answers to something… and the trial, me rescuing her… ewer however… I was good as practical. Not actually reading the dang cards… maybe she or I may gain knowledge for this…” she nodded and put the cards back. In reality she was just wasting a few minutes to make sure she could follow without being seen, again, out of fear of the pink haired girl coming to harm. If they let her down, she could safely step in to rescue her.

“So much has happened since I left Doma…” Renitra murmured in English/Eorzean as she sipped at a drink. She was slowly piecing together her thoughts on what Yugiri had told her. So in her future, if she ever got home she would fight Yotsuyu one final time.. forced into it by her brother or a cousin tricking her. How vile her family must have been. So much so that Yotsuyu’s heart became stoke and she saw all of her countrymen as wicked and corrupt.
Then Yugiri mentioned the failed assassination attempt. She paled again. She knew Yugiri wasn't malicious. “[No offence was taken, Yugiri-chan. I know how it went. Zenos drew a new katana that day, supposedly from the Kojin of the Red. The same one used by the Primal Kami, Susano, the Lord of the Revel.]” She said softly remembering that day.
“[So… you consider it a blessing that no one knows who I am? Or that I shouldn't proudly declare it… lately… I've been doubting if I really deserve the title at all. I lost the battle that mattered the most. Who knows what's happening back home… Krile… I hope she's alright. I couldn't manage returning home and seeing her in worse shape than when I last saw her…” She sniffled. She felt like she was about to cry. In an attempt to hide this face she quickly wiped her eyes with her sleeve and pulled her hood slightly over her face. It wasn't to hide emotion from a shinobi. It was as to not come off as weak in a tavern like this. Some of the more rowdier patrons might get ideas with two drunk women and that have her an uneasy feeling.
“[Perhaps we should… uh… make our leave now, Yugiri-chan? Do you have somewhere to stay tonight? You can bunk with me if you have no where.]” Renitra offered. It was a genuine offer. She didn't want to see Yugiri get into trouble because she was drunk as one of Buscaron’s patron. There was another reason. A personal reason. Renitra didn't want to spend another night alone in this world. When she was alone with her thoughts, they went into the dark regions. The abyss of her traumas was a scary place for her mind to wander into, and if no one was there to make sure she wasn't falling in, she may never come out the same again…

When she realised they had arrived, she slowly got off her own chocobo and gave it a hug. A small intimate sign of affection for a loyal animal who served people like her out of gratitude for the ride. “Thank you Chocobo.” She said before finally letting go and following after Caius. When he mentioned that she would report what she knew of Zenos to Celes when they arrived she froze. Her face paled at the memory of how his Resonant powers trounced her in Provo’s streets. “If you think it’s a good idea…” She began.
Thankfully her stomach didn’t need to evacuate its contents upwards today as Caius answered her questions about Eos. “A rarity huh? In Eorzea, magic was simply manipulating the worlds elements. It’s Aether. Most people in it have a genuine knack for it, and almost everyone has a natural affinity to learn magic if they so choose. The only ones who don’t are Garleans. Like Zenos, they have three eyes. Apparently the third eye is why they can't harness magic and Aether. But they have amazing spatial recognition. And I know that from the greatest Magitek engineer in all the land, Cid Garlond. I guess that's another similarity between our worlds huh? Magitek. The Empirealways used it for warmongering. Cid was actually supposed to be their chief engineer but he defected because he thought Technology should enlighten and spread good tidings, not war and bloodshed.”
Then Caius did a name drop. Kingsglaive. “Wait… YOU KNOW NOCTIS?!” She asked in a shrill shriek of stunned awe. “I uh… I… oh dear.. You see uh…” She looked away blushing over how she shrieked out. She didn't intend to be like that. She did remember a young man who mentioned the word Kingsglave though... “I met someone who gave me a power called Kingsglaive. Specifically to fight a being called Garuda. Apparently it was a messenger from… well it wasnt the Garuda of my world lets put it like that. He said his name was Noctis.”

Renitra was studying her lance and her Astrometer lost in thought and reflection. She knew both schools, one of war and the other of magic were practically completely incompatible with each other. Yet she had the silly idea of using both in her battle with Zenos yae Galvus weeks ago, only to get her rear end handed to her, and her becoming violently sick in response to her failure. She was 0-4 against the power drunk Crown Prince of Garelmald and she was looking to try and recover her pride as the Warrior of Light… if she could continue calling herself that. Her encounter with Alexander Sorel had caused her to doubt herself heavily
Renitra eventually opened her eyes. An idea came to her. The Red Mages of Gyr Abania used both White and Black magics, in tandem with a rapier. What if Renitra could fashion a style similar to it. Her lance, and Astral magics… yes she could envision it now. But she had no finer understanding of how Red Magic worked. No basis to use. If she knew someone who specializes in Red Magic, it would be a different story. She did become acquaintances with a Miqo'te from Gyr Abania who called himself a Crimson Duelist but she never fully finished her training as a Red Mage under him. But he wasn’t in Zephon.
Renitra did manage to find a clue a day later. There was a Miqo’te in Provo. Unfortunately, Renitra was very hasty in gathering her intel and had set off to find them. If she had waited for more intel, she thought they would be gone. If she did wait, she would have been very surprised at what she would have found out…
Renitra rounded the corner to the marketplace hoping to find the Miqo’te mage and ask for their help. Her eyes scanned the stalls trying to find something that resembled a Miqo’te. Coerul Ears, a tail, thin but tall pupils in the eyes. Anything. But there was a massive crowd. She was looking for a needle in a haystack

Renitra quieted down again and tried to formulate her words. Eventually she said, “...You’ve had a run in with him before. Haven’t you?” When she heard Alex hired serial killers, her self pity ran dry, and righteous fury started to surge in her. Her hands tightened around the reigns. Due to her swapping her blue gauntlets for the welkin sleeves and gloves, Caius could if he chose to notice that her knuckles were whitening. Even her Chocobo looked back at Renitra and let off a very concerned warble. “How dare he drag the Scions name through the mud like that…” she said softly. “And Zenos… You’re not far off the truth Ser Caius…” she said. “I won’t bore you with the details… He has a lot to answer for with me as well… “ She tried to calm herself.
She had to change the topic before she lost her nerve and unloaded her baggage on Caius. “If it’s not imposing on you Ser Caius… It’s clear you know no knowledge of Hyadelin, my home land. In turn I have no knowledge of yours. Would you be willing to tell me about where you come from? We probably have overlap in our worlds. We use Chocobos, we take up disciplines of war, of magic, of the hand, and of the land… Part of me actually wonders, if you come from a reflection? You see an ancient myth said that the Mothercrystal of Hyadalyn sealed away an ancient avatar of evil, Zodiark…” she began. She was somewhat embellishing the story because she didn’t know it when the Warriors of Darkness explained it to her in the Ixali Capital… She didn’;t understand it when what was left of Minfillia explained the nature of an Umbral Calamity either. “When the Mothercrystal sealed Zodiark away, to ensure his seal was complete, she shattered the source into ten and three reflections. Thirteen worlds, somewhat mirroring the original. But seven of them were destroyed. Seven reflections forced back into the source through a violent natural disaster of clashing aetheric polarities…”
“I’m kinda going into the ‘boring scholar’ thing again…” Renitra realized. “Uh… Just tell me about your world. If you are willing to, I mean…”
