This could be really handy, he figured. This new place called Sonora was a bit off to him. From what he understood of Ilsabard, this seemed to be something like it, so he would have to be careful. Not that it really mattered. People seemed really off put by him and he couldn't figure out why. They inched away from him, cross the street when he was coming to meet them, all sorts of things in prder to just avoid him. He didn't get it, not even a little. Even when the little old lady he'd helped get inside for the class seemed a bit iffy with him at first, and he didn't really understand why. She seemed nice enough at least, so he was happy to hold the door open with his foot as she met with who he assumed was the teacher of this class.
That was a cute ribbon, he'd give her that.
And there Alexander was. He'd gotten into botany some back on the Source, and really, it was working with plants and trees and shit. How much different could it possibly be? A gardening class? He could do that, and if nothing else, he might learn a couple things. Plus, it'd be nice to work on stuff that wasn't being used to make arrows or something hilariously lethal. It would be nice to engage in it recreationally for once. It's just... he wasn't really aware of all that passed for gardening in this world. See, from where he came from, it worked just a little bit differently, and Aerith was probably going to get a bit of a shock.
Namely, when he arrived, standing in the doorway, it was with a rather large hatchet (hatchet? It looked more like a battle axe!) in one hand, resting on his right shoulder. In the other, he held the handle of a rather large scythe he'd managed to acquire. At least he was slowly getting his wardrobe back together! A nice green shirt with darkened pants and boots. Granted, he may or may not have had a dagger attached to the back of the shirt, but, well, it works out. "So I take it this is the gardening class, then?" He asked nonchalantly as he looked at the flower girl. He tilted his head, as if waiting to be shown inside and to his seat.
Alexander let out a laugh. It was a genuine laugh and he hadn't allowed himself much of that, lately. Sometimes, heroics came in the smallest forms. It wasn't always about saving the world. No no, sometimes it was about preventing someone making some horribly stupid decision that they would regret for the rest of their days. "Oh, no no no. Don't go to Ul'dah, it's trash." There was a very good reason that when he got gang-pressed into a Grand Company, he picked the Maelstrom. Oh, he got along with Raubahn well enough, and sure, Kan-e-senna was cute, but Ul'dah was awful, and Gridania was a nightmare once you actually started peeking under the surface. Plus Merlwyb was more willing to let him come and go, so Maelstrom seemed the natural pick for him.
But the talk of Yugiri put a smile on his face. He wondered how she was doing right now. Probably fussing over Hien as she was wont to do. He admired her thoroughness and dedication, but he'd admit there were times he'd really wish she'd just let her hair down, so to speak, and just be the lady, not the shinobi. "Yugiri's friendly with most anyone by her standards; she's just really bad at showing it." She was never unkind to him, and she tried her best to be nice, but there was always that distance that she kept either out of professionalism, or perhaps inability to really socialize with the others. She was by no means a social butterfly, but it wasn't that hard to get on her good side, she just didn't show it.
Still, well, he couldn't really just lie to this guy about his involvement, not this late. Plus, he really felt bad about not recognizing him. It made sense, of course. Alex didn't stay to celebrate Doma's Liberation, it was right back to Ala Mhigo, into the fires of war. But it still bothered him. It wasn't just the Warrior of Light that carried the day. "I was on the inside. Hien and I were split into two groups to try and get to Yotsuyu." He spoke a little softly. Ah, would being outed as a Warrior of Light change things with these guards? Would they revere him more? Want him out? This bit always changed the perception people had of Alexander Sorel. His gloved finger touched his lip. "How to put this..." Before he looked at Keimusho. "I'm the one member of the Scions you didn't meet. My name is Alexander Sorel." Regardless of whether he was the Warrior of Light, he wanted to be known as Alexander beforehand. The guards looked at him and then at Keimusho, they were waiting for the confirmation.

One Brings Shadow, One Brings Light
to this riddle, all souls are tied
There's a common misconception about the Warrior of Light that most people who don't know the Alexander Sorel make. It's usually a misconception based on his attire, his chocobo's attire, his chosen jobs, and so on. Namely, he has a tendency to go overboard in how he deals with a threat. Those who know him know it tends to be the other way around in that he'll generally avoid a beat down if he can, and that it's really only against a world ending threat that he genuinely cuts loose. For something as minor like bandits, he'll step in, but generally won't do anything other than bloody their noses; if that's all that needs to be done, why go any farther? Which was the situation he was in right now.
Really, he'd just wanted a trip to the beach. A nice relaxing trip with some of the clothes he'd had made. Well, sort of. They were replicas of the Moonfire outfit he had back on Hydaelyn but, well, he would rebuild his glamour dresser one piece at a time. Still, when he saw the two bandits harassing a woman, he figured he could make a quick detour. When a young man stepped in to try and be hero, he picked up the pace. Bless the kid, he really meant it, but he needed more prep time than a--Oh, one's already down? That was white magic, he saw there, no doubt about that. An Aero spell, so the kid knew magic then. That made things slightly easier for him to work with. So that just left one guy up.
Alright, a simple one-two, then. He figured as he closed in, a whip-like tether appearing in the palm of his hand as he wrapped it around the still remaining bandit. He found himself flying towards the man, who was generally pretty surprised by having a sudden magical rope appear, which was likely followed by shock at feeling the soles of the newcomer's sandals in his back as he was sent careening towards his companion. One... He mentally noted as he landed on his feet, before taking another tether and binding the two bandits together. Two... Really, it was a one-two scenario, and the situation had been resolved in only a couple seconds.
Huh, no blood, that was pretty good for him. Nothing to heal, so these two were just subdued, likely unhappy, but they'd be fine. They just probably wouldn't be too thrilled about having to deal with any potential authorities. Didn't even have to dust himself off. He looked at the woman and the child, tilting his head ever so slightly. "Everything alright?" A simple question; he hadn't seen anyone get hurt, but it never hurt to check.

One Brings Shadow, One Brings Light
to this riddle, all souls are tied
Did he know Yugiri? Well, yes, yes he did. "Uh-huh. She's a friend of mine." He'd leave out the part about her trying to kill Zenos on her own. Really, to this day he still thought that was just the dumbest idea she could have had. He'd more followed her to try and keep her from dying. Yeah, it'd worked out in the end, the revolution really got started, and it ultimately led to Doma being saved. ... Something that Yugiri was quick to point out whenever Alex would bring up how dumb of an idea it was to actually go and attack Zenos. It surprised him at the time, Yugiri had always been so compassionate and well meaning, but there was that aloofness that he'd never really managed to get all the way past, no matter how much she seemed to warm up.
But where did he come from? Alex brought his hand to his chin for a moment, pondering how exacly he should answer that. Well, his actual place of origin, that was something he'd long since stopped caring about. As far as he was concerned, his life really began the day he... "To be honest, if I had to pick a place... Ul'dah. As shitty as it is, Ul'dah." ... signed up with Momodi at the Ul'dah's Adventurers' Guild. Of course, Ul'dah was awful. But as a practicing Thaumaturge at the time, it was the place he'd been pointed to. Of course, getting used to his Echo made it difficult to tell past from present, and by the time he figured it out, he'd already royally mucked with Thancred and Minfilia's past.
But if he didn't work with Yugiri, well that made him curious. He didn't really remember seeing him at the battle for Doma Castle, which... kind of made him feel bad. He was usually pretty good about that, so he grimaced. "Were you there when we retook the castle? I'm sorry to ask, I just don't remember seeing you is all." The guards didn't seem to mind the conversation at least. Either that or they thought these two were really goddamn weird. They just shot looks at each other, and kept their mouths shut.

One Brings Shadow, One Brings Light
to this riddle, all souls are tied
The guards stopped and eyed Keimusho warily. Two at once might be an issue. They looked at each other, then at Alex, then at Keimusho, then back at each other before they reluctantly nodded. "It is indeed. If paying respects is what you wish, then please come with us." And they moved to allow him to fall in next to Alexander, who took a good moment to examine the newcomer. Admittedly a little envious. A Xaela? Which also meant they were really tall, although this guy seemed to be a bit small compared to how big some of them could get. By his own guess, this guy had about three inches on him. Still, lucky him. Oh, there were some days when he really wished he could wake up and be an Au Ra, tower over the shrimps of the world. But he was still six foot, and well, he was far from the shortest Warrior of Light, so it wasn't fair to complain.
It's gonna take a bit to get there, and Alex decides that hey, this is a good time to initiate some small talk, or at least ask some questions. Really, he knew this guy's look immediately. The armor and outfit and general everything gave it away, considering as far as he knew, Au Ra were definitely only on the Source and its Shards. "You're from Doma, right?" He had to be. The clothes just made it too obvious. Well, in fairness, on Zephon, the obvious was only obvious if you came from the same world. So either this Xaela was from Doma, or he was starting to mix up one of the shards.
He took a better look at him, his head tilting. "Yeah, you look like you're one of Yugiri's Shinobi." Yugiri would definitely have her hand in this cookie jar. The guy looked the part of a Shinobi and... huh, did he have a katana on him? Well, he couldn't fault him, those daggers didn't help much if you got stuck with someone who knew how to get their hands dirty. He shuddered to think what would've happened to Yugiri if he hadn't shown up to help her with Zenos.

The wine was getting more and more tempting the more time he spent in Torensten. This place was completely and utterly mad, he was realizing. So, ever since coming here, Alex had come to learn a few things about this world. The first being that Torensten sucked. Everything exploded here on what seemed to be a regular basis. There was always some sort of fighting going on. As embarrassing as a name like Hub of Heroes must have been, there seemed to be a villainous counterpart around here! Last time for him it was a bunch of tornado like attacks going on while things just kept getting worse and worse! Needless to say, that bottle of wine was just getting far more tantalizing as the days went by. Zephon... well there wasn't really a place like it.
He wondered if there would be anything eventful today? Perhaps today he'd be allowed a little piece and quiet. He'd gotten enough money to buy some new clothes, amass a wardrobe of outfits different from that white shirt and black pants he usually liked to wear. He thought dark blues looked good on him, to be honest! He wasn't exactly the fashion genius Tataru was, but well, he could work something out if he had to. Maybe work a few more jobs, get the money from that... ah, he may not have been Tataru's equal, but, well, he shuddered to think of how stuffed full to the brim his glamour dresser was. At least he remembered what he kept on there so he could go get those clothes again. Shame that it hadn't all come with him to Zephon though.
As for a quiet day, well? Noct Today! Ohoho. You may laugh, for I am the pinnacle of genius. But really, Alex blinked a few times as the door pushed open and he saw a familiar face. He raised his hand, waving at the young prince (or was it king, now?) "Oi, Noct, over here!" To be honest, he didn't expect the guy to recognize him, this place did something to peoples' memories, he had learned. Why he'd been spared, well that was beyond him. But part of him was thankful for it, as even if there was plenty of bad, there was plenty of good that he wished to cherish.

Today was a successful day. He'd gotten the payment up front, well, half of it. The other half would come when he came back with the prize. Which he did, if that demonic looking boar being hauled on Ragnabawk's back was anything to go by. Really, it was similar to the Ventures he would send his Retainers out on back on the Source. The difference was that instead of strange coins called Ventures (why had they accepted those, anyway?), they actually paid Alexander gil! That brought up another question for him, though; was gil just some kind of universal currency or something? Here or Eorzea, they seemed completely content to accept it. He couldn't help but wonder how his Retainers were doing. Were they doing alright? What about the other Adventurers? The rest of the Scions?
Truth was, he recognized Aymeric pretty far off as he was heading out of the forest. He knew it was him, and he had every intention of approaching him. He just... wasn't flying to meet him or anything. Oh, it wasn't that he wasn't happy to see the Lord Commander, quite the opposite. But he figured that Aymeric wouldn't like it is some stranger just bodied him. Especially considering that so far, everyone he'd met had forgotten he'd even existed, so why would he expect Aymeric to be any different. Really, he had just resolved to solemnly approach him, introduce himself, and who knows, maybe even have an even more awesome friendship! After all, the whole thing started in a bit more of a turbulent time than anything, so at least--hold up, did Aymeric just call him by name?
Right then.
Alex was bloody there, is what he was. He may or may not have used a Blink from his old Black Mage kit in order to get there, but he found himself right besides Aymeric as Ragnabawk just sort of dawdled his way towards them. "Aymeric?! You remembered me?!" He seemed incredulous, and, well, he was. "Oh, man, finally. No one here has remembered me." He could give the Elezen a hug right now--You know what, that was exactly what he was going to do, specifically as he reached out to pull the Lord Commander into a near suffocating bear hug. Finally, something was going well here!

One Brings Shadow, One Brings Light
to this riddle, all souls are tied
This was... the World Sight, was it? He'd heard stories about it, how a great Warrior of Light had been buried here, and they were to be guarded until the end of time and all that. ... It looked like it had seen better days, if he was being entirely honest. Apparently that wasn't their fault, some assholes had come along, wrecked the place, and looted it. The guards still stood, solemn and dedicated as ever, but he couldn't blame them for being a bit more vigilant. His purpose had been asked and he'd given it; he wished to pay his respects to the Warrior of Light that was entombed there; a noble purpose, and they seemed to accept it. But it was made clear they'd keep their eye on him.
To be honest, some of his purpose there was selfish. He'd wanted to get a full grasp on what, exactly, he had lost when he came to this new world. He'd lost the Echo, he knew that much. Part of him was excited about that - he had to adapt and there was real challenge now. He realized that he had to react much more quickly than before. His Echo often told him what was coming (though not always), and he was able to proactively get out of the way. Now, he had to move as he saw it coming. Made things much more tense. There was also the lack of barging into others' past. In truth, he'd always felt a bit odd about that part. It felt like he was violating their privacy. Yet at the same time he felt almost blind without it. The Echo had opened an entirely new way of seeing that he'd never known, and without it, it felt like he'd lost a part of himself.
Something he'd wanted to check was whether he could still communicate with other Warriors of Light. Well, he thought he could do that. The simple truth was it was just something he assumed Warriors of Light could do considering Ramza had been able to reach out to him after he and the veritable army of Adventurers he'd put together managed to bring down the High Seraph. It was logical enough; they had been bound through the light, so they could communicate with each other even beyond life and death. Maybe more put that theory to the test than actually see if it still worked. More see if it ever worked to begin with. The guards were ready to take him in to see the tomb, with only a quick question if there was anyone else.

One Brings Shadow, One Brings Light
to this riddle, all souls are tied
Alexander waited. And he waited. Was this guy going to hit him again or--Oh, no he was going to the guard and--Alex could only wince as he saw the poor guy go down. Sure, he may have signed up to protect the place from threats but this was probably beyond his pay grade. Instead, Mateus turned to him, wondering why in the world Alex didn't just immediately go spell slinging past everything. "Because oh my good golly gosh, I don't like inflicting random violence." In hindsight, he should have expected it, this noble would obviously have no compassion for any other person, and as his little incident in Ul'dah taught him just how ruthless they could be. While he didn't like the idea of it, it was clear he'd probably have to babysit for a bit.
He looked at the fallen guard for a moment. I should've brought my Star Globe. He kneeled down briefly as Mateus was walking away, best to make this quick. A quick bit of healing aether was sent through the guard's body. It wasn't a bad shock, and he'd recover. He just wished he could reverse the damage like usual instead of just healing it. One quick motion, and he was tailing behind Mateus, more to keep everyone safe from him than to keep Mateus safe, but, what could you do? At least here he could do something about it, and maybe get Mateus to go back before anyone else got hurt, just needed something that could spook the guy.
And then he had it, as Alex noted a twister of sorts forming, and then spiraling, in the distance. He stopped for a moment, hands in his pockets as he just stared at the oncoming storm. What the hell? Why were people being so casual about this? He looked to Mateus as they passed through the barricade. "Are you aware of what's going on over there? You should probably leave before you get hurt." He suggested, making a mental note that he might have to step in. He rubbed his chin as he looked back. Should he go get his gear? He was good but he doubted he could do much with a pickaxe and some cards. He just wasn't equipped to deal with this at the moment.
One by one, they fell before him. A quick nip here, a quick bit of magic there, and anything that stood before Alexander Sorel was promptly no longer standing before him. He'd been contemplating seeing what it was that was causing all this. Even he could pick up on the foul magic emanating from within, perhaps a purification was needed? It'd been a while since he'd been able to flex his white magical muscles, but this seemed as good an opportunity as any for him. So when a blast of holy magic--very, very powerful holy magic, Alexander noted--flared up, it acted as a beacon for the Warrior of Light and Darkness, and he made his way over to the source of the blast. When the light cleared, and the two figures were revealed, his heart stopped.
There was no mistaking it. The silver hair, the white coat, the gunblade, it was most definitely Thancred. Alexander's heart soared with relief. Finally, here was someone he knew. Finally, he had some confirmation that at least some of the Scions were safe. While there'd been that bubbling excitement over a new adventure, it paled in comparison to seeing one of his comrades hale and whole and hearty. If Thancred was okay, then the others likely were too. It also brought up the hope of finding them and making sure they were safe. This changed everything. He needed to find the other Scions, get them together, and then look for a way home.
This adventure is for you. Don't fill it with worrying over the others. And yet there was Fray, ever concerned for Alexander's personal health.
Alex ignored Fray. He often did.
So instead, he took another look at the two, noticing the young girl in the obvious garb of a White Mage. Young and... blonde. Really. This was the third young, blonde girl that Thancred was with. Was there just something he wasn't telling the others? He could take care of that later, because for now, the whip appeared in his hand as he fired his Corps-a-corps at Thancred to try and close the distance. "THAAAAAAAN-" It began as he went whirling at the Rogue-turned Gunbreaker, "-CRRRREEEEEEEED!" He aimed to slam into the man and give him the biggest goddamn hug that he could possibly conjure.
