One Brings Shadow, One Brings Light
to this riddle, all souls are tied
This was... the World Sight, was it? He'd heard stories about it, how a great Warrior of Light had been buried here, and they were to be guarded until the end of time and all that. ... It looked like it had seen better days, if he was being entirely honest. Apparently that wasn't their fault, some assholes had come along, wrecked the place, and looted it. The guards still stood, solemn and dedicated as ever, but he couldn't blame them for being a bit more vigilant. His purpose had been asked and he'd given it; he wished to pay his respects to the Warrior of Light that was entombed there; a noble purpose, and they seemed to accept it. But it was made clear they'd keep their eye on him.
To be honest, some of his purpose there was selfish. He'd wanted to get a full grasp on what, exactly, he had lost when he came to this new world. He'd lost the Echo, he knew that much. Part of him was excited about that - he had to adapt and there was real challenge now. He realized that he had to react much more quickly than before. His Echo often told him what was coming (though not always), and he was able to proactively get out of the way. Now, he had to move as he saw it coming. Made things much more tense. There was also the lack of barging into others' past. In truth, he'd always felt a bit odd about that part. It felt like he was violating their privacy. Yet at the same time he felt almost blind without it. The Echo had opened an entirely new way of seeing that he'd never known, and without it, it felt like he'd lost a part of himself.
Something he'd wanted to check was whether he could still communicate with other Warriors of Light. Well, he thought he could do that. The simple truth was it was just something he assumed Warriors of Light could do considering Ramza had been able to reach out to him after he and the veritable army of Adventurers he'd put together managed to bring down the High Seraph. It was logical enough; they had been bound through the light, so they could communicate with each other even beyond life and death. Maybe more put that theory to the test than actually see if it still worked. More see if it ever worked to begin with. The guards were ready to take him in to see the tomb, with only a quick question if there was anyone else.

Keimusho still wasn't fully used to this adventuring thing. The thing about wandering around without a specific purpose was just foreign to him. In the Source, the ninja only traveled outside of Othard to assist in combating the Garlean empire. The only exception was when he celebrated Doma's liberation in Eorzea. Even that took some convincing from members of his clan. The Au Ra's adventuring exploits so far yielded an elderly companion (which he left in Torensten for safety reasons), a severed horn (which luckily has grown back), and an encounter with a cult. It definitely wasn't a typical start to an adventure around the world, but really what adventure was?
After Keimusho's horn grew back he sought out to explore Zephon once more. After inquiry of certain areas on the Zephon map, he would learn that a tower called the World Sight exists as the resting place of a "Warrior of Light". That title intrigued the ninja, who wondered what the similarities between this Warrior of Light and the Warrior of Light that lived in his world. Did this hero possess an special ability like the Echo? It was doubtful. As far as he knew the Echo did not work in this world. Though he did experience Echo-like visions in the Headstone Forest. However, these were of his own memories and were accompanied by the illusions caused by the forest. Keimusho believed that this Warrior was blessed by the gods of this world or as he would refer to them, "kami". Keimusho hoped that visiting his tomb could yield some sort of answer.
The ninja approached what appeared the be a group of people. On a closer inspection they were guards escorting a blond-haired individual. "Pardon me. Would this happen to be the tomb of the Warrior of Light?" he asked the surrounding individuals. "I have come to pay my respects," the ninja states.

One Brings Shadow, One Brings Light
to this riddle, all souls are tied
The guards stopped and eyed Keimusho warily. Two at once might be an issue. They looked at each other, then at Alex, then at Keimusho, then back at each other before they reluctantly nodded. "It is indeed. If paying respects is what you wish, then please come with us." And they moved to allow him to fall in next to Alexander, who took a good moment to examine the newcomer. Admittedly a little envious. A Xaela? Which also meant they were really tall, although this guy seemed to be a bit small compared to how big some of them could get. By his own guess, this guy had about three inches on him. Still, lucky him. Oh, there were some days when he really wished he could wake up and be an Au Ra, tower over the shrimps of the world. But he was still six foot, and well, he was far from the shortest Warrior of Light, so it wasn't fair to complain.
It's gonna take a bit to get there, and Alex decides that hey, this is a good time to initiate some small talk, or at least ask some questions. Really, he knew this guy's look immediately. The armor and outfit and general everything gave it away, considering as far as he knew, Au Ra were definitely only on the Source and its Shards. "You're from Doma, right?" He had to be. The clothes just made it too obvious. Well, in fairness, on Zephon, the obvious was only obvious if you came from the same world. So either this Xaela was from Doma, or he was starting to mix up one of the shards.
He took a better look at him, his head tilting. "Yeah, you look like you're one of Yugiri's Shinobi." Yugiri would definitely have her hand in this cookie jar. The guy looked the part of a Shinobi and... huh, did he have a katana on him? Well, he couldn't fault him, those daggers didn't help much if you got stuck with someone who knew how to get their hands dirty. He shuddered to think what would've happened to Yugiri if he hadn't shown up to help her with Zenos.

Keimusho nodded as the guards allowed for the ninja to join. He walked forward to meet with the blond-haired individual. He opted to take a moment to examine him. At his side was an elegant bastard sword. At his back was what most would probably make out as a shield at a first glance, but Keimusho knew better. That was one of those globes that the astrologians use. He didn't think much of this at first. After all he met a few people here that used gunblades and they weren't a part of the Garlean empire. Besides he wasn't type to quickly jump to conclusions without the proper justification.
This would soon change as the two engaged in small talk. The individual would initiate this by asking if he was from Doma. This question surprised him and in some sense relieved him. He wasn't pleased that people were being snatched away from their homes with seemingly no way to return. However, it was nice to know that he wasn't the only one here from his homeworld. He would nod. "So you must be from the same world as I. What would they call it in the west?... Hydaelyn?" Keimusho said as he scratched his head. "But yes, you would be correct. I am from Doma. I am a shinobi as well. Not one of Lady Yugiri's, though I have worked with her in the past. Albeit not as directly as the Scions do." he continued.
This prompted the ninja to ask some questions of his own. "Does that mean that you are acquainted with her as well? I ask only because you don't appear to be from Othard or Hingashi. By your dress I would assume that you hail from somewhere in Eorzea. Coerthas perhaps?" he asked.

One Brings Shadow, One Brings Light
to this riddle, all souls are tied
Did he know Yugiri? Well, yes, yes he did. "Uh-huh. She's a friend of mine." He'd leave out the part about her trying to kill Zenos on her own. Really, to this day he still thought that was just the dumbest idea she could have had. He'd more followed her to try and keep her from dying. Yeah, it'd worked out in the end, the revolution really got started, and it ultimately led to Doma being saved. ... Something that Yugiri was quick to point out whenever Alex would bring up how dumb of an idea it was to actually go and attack Zenos. It surprised him at the time, Yugiri had always been so compassionate and well meaning, but there was that aloofness that he'd never really managed to get all the way past, no matter how much she seemed to warm up.
But where did he come from? Alex brought his hand to his chin for a moment, pondering how exacly he should answer that. Well, his actual place of origin, that was something he'd long since stopped caring about. As far as he was concerned, his life really began the day he... "To be honest, if I had to pick a place... Ul'dah. As shitty as it is, Ul'dah." ... signed up with Momodi at the Ul'dah's Adventurers' Guild. Of course, Ul'dah was awful. But as a practicing Thaumaturge at the time, it was the place he'd been pointed to. Of course, getting used to his Echo made it difficult to tell past from present, and by the time he figured it out, he'd already royally mucked with Thancred and Minfilia's past.
But if he didn't work with Yugiri, well that made him curious. He didn't really remember seeing him at the battle for Doma Castle, which... kind of made him feel bad. He was usually pretty good about that, so he grimaced. "Were you there when we retook the castle? I'm sorry to ask, I just don't remember seeing you is all." The guards didn't seem to mind the conversation at least. Either that or they thought these two were really goddamn weird. They just shot looks at each other, and kept their mouths shut.

"Your a friend of hers? One of the Scions perhaps? They are the only ijin I am aware of whom she converses with. Not that I know that much about her. We only been acquainted a handful of occasions." Keimusho responds. The individual then explains from where he came though he didn't seem to be to fond of it. "Ul'dah? Was that the city-state in the Thanalan region? Hmm I have yet to visit there... Mayhap that be something I seek out to do if we find a way back to our world." Keimusho responds. Keimusho never did get to fully explore the Aldenard continent after the deliverance of Doma. Most of his time there was spent in Idyllshire or in Gyr Abania. Granted, if he did manage to go back, he would simply have to continue the effort of assassinating Zenos. Besides the blond-haired individual didn't make the trip sound worthwhile. It couldn't be that bad could it?
The conversation shifted towards the time Doma Castle was taken from the Garleans. It seemed like yesterday for Keimusho, which is justified considering that to him it was technically only a few months ago. The question in itself was odd to him because the ninja doesn't remember seeing this individual either. "You assisted in the flooding of Doma Castle as well? That's odd. I don't remember seeing you either." he responded. "Though I wasn't inside of the castle itself. I was on the outside preventing Garlean forces from entering. Still... I'm sure that I would remember seeing your face. You would stand out in the Far East." he continued. Keimusho scratch his head thinking on it. "Were you a Scion that wasn't mentioned to me? I met with the Scions of the Seventh a single time after Doma's freedom was won. All of them except for Eorzea's Warrior of Light."

Seventy? Only seventy thousand? Hells, my subligar's worth more than that!
Alexander let out a laugh. It was a genuine laugh and he hadn't allowed himself much of that, lately. Sometimes, heroics came in the smallest forms. It wasn't always about saving the world. No no, sometimes it was about preventing someone making some horribly stupid decision that they would regret for the rest of their days. "Oh, no no no. Don't go to Ul'dah, it's trash." There was a very good reason that when he got gang-pressed into a Grand Company, he picked the Maelstrom. Oh, he got along with Raubahn well enough, and sure, Kan-e-senna was cute, but Ul'dah was awful, and Gridania was a nightmare once you actually started peeking under the surface. Plus Merlwyb was more willing to let him come and go, so Maelstrom seemed the natural pick for him.
But the talk of Yugiri put a smile on his face. He wondered how she was doing right now. Probably fussing over Hien as she was wont to do. He admired her thoroughness and dedication, but he'd admit there were times he'd really wish she'd just let her hair down, so to speak, and just be the lady, not the shinobi. "Yugiri's friendly with most anyone by her standards; she's just really bad at showing it." She was never unkind to him, and she tried her best to be nice, but there was always that distance that she kept either out of professionalism, or perhaps inability to really socialize with the others. She was by no means a social butterfly, but it wasn't that hard to get on her good side, she just didn't show it.
Still, well, he couldn't really just lie to this guy about his involvement, not this late. Plus, he really felt bad about not recognizing him. It made sense, of course. Alex didn't stay to celebrate Doma's Liberation, it was right back to Ala Mhigo, into the fires of war. But it still bothered him. It wasn't just the Warrior of Light that carried the day. "I was on the inside. Hien and I were split into two groups to try and get to Yotsuyu." He spoke a little softly. Ah, would being outed as a Warrior of Light change things with these guards? Would they revere him more? Want him out? This bit always changed the perception people had of Alexander Sorel. His gloved finger touched his lip. "How to put this..." Before he looked at Keimusho. "I'm the one member of the Scions you didn't meet. My name is Alexander Sorel." Regardless of whether he was the Warrior of Light, he wanted to be known as Alexander beforehand. The guards looked at him and then at Keimusho, they were waiting for the confirmation.

The blond-haired individual essentially hammered down his distaste for his home of Ul'dah. Perhaps he had some unresolved conflict? Regardless, Keimusho still thought that it was at least worth visiting once. The Eorzean Alliance did help out Doma in its time of need after all and Ul'dah was a part of it. Besides he didn't go into much detail into how bad it was. The only thing Keimusho knew about the place were the formidable paladins, gladiators, and thaumaturges that were in the city-state.
The talk of Lady Yugiri also intrigued the ninja. Talks of her made her seem like the type that requires time in order to form a bond. To that regard, it was a trait that Keimusho shared with her and alot of other shinobi. Professionalism is of course one of the shinobi's greatest qualities. "Perhaps that's a trait that alot of shinobi have," Keimusho responds.
The blond-haired individual went on to explain that he was on the inside of the castle alongside Lord Hien. This was followed by an introduction and a confirmation that he was not only one of the Scions, but THE one that he didn't meet. Keimusho had to process what Alexander meant when he introduced himself. "So he's the Warrior of Light?! But how? He perished when the castle collapsed!" the ninja thought. Keimusho was baffled by this thought. This certainly couldn't be what he meant, was it? The only way to be certain was to ask the individual in question. "Apologies I have neglected to introduce myself. I am Keimusho of the Onishi clan." he said with a bow. Keimusho would usually introduce himself with his aliase of Mu, but he felt like this was a worthwhile exception. "Forgive me if I am mistake but... by the sounds of your introduction, I have come to the conclusion that you would be... him. But the logical side of me concludes that this couldn't be the case. Eorzea's hero perished after the castle collapsed after all."

Seventy? Only seventy thousand? Hells, my subligar's worth more than that!
Him. Yeah, that always sounded about right. It was always some measure of reverence for him that always placed him above everyone else. It was never just Alexander Sorel, or Alexander, or even just Alex. It was always the Warrior of Light, the Hero of Eorzea, not even Adventurer. Alex sighed a little and nodded. He knew that Keimusho meant to be polite and formal, but it always bothered him to an extent that whenever people knew he was the Warrior of Light, things always changed. He ran a hand through his hair, averting his gaze to the floor as he gave the shinobi a nod of confirmation. "... Yeah, that'd be me." There was no one else who fit the bill, was there? He couldn't find his other companions, not the Scions, the adventurers he once worked with.
He followed the guards along as they continued on their merry way, oh they'd noticed, things were going to change with them, too. It was just rude to interrupt a conversation. He wondered where they were, at times. He missed them, the ones who had been with him since the beginning. They, like so many others, had come and gone. Sometimes, he wondered if Myste was right. Death and agony followed in his wake, woe be to those who fought against him, for death was their reward. Woe be to those who fought with him, for death was their reward. Was that not how it worked, Myste? Another sigh, as he fiddled a finger and a thumb together. "It's always Him, or the Hero, or--Wait, I did what?"
He was dead?
What? That made no sense. Alexander held up a hand, or more a single finger. "Now, hold on there, Master Onishi. I feel like there's something important I'm missing here." How had he died? It made--Well, no, it made sense. Now that he thought about it, it wasn't the first time something like this had happened, now had it? Once again, he'd seen it before, and simply knew how to handle it beforehand. He paused for a moment, as he bit his bottom lip and rendered himself calm. "What... what happened after I died?" How did the others take it? The twins? How did Lyse free Ala Mhigo without him? Was she alive? How'd she take it? If nothing else, he refused to acknowledge the possibility that Grynewaht killed him.
Post by Keimusho Onishi on Jan 4, 2020 0:36:45 GMT -6
Alexander seemed extremely surprised at the statement that he was dead. It was completely understandable and justified after all. Keimusho couldn't think of what he'd do if someone suddenly told him that he was dead. Still, Keimusho thought it was weird. Why was he unaware of it all? Keimusho speculated that maybe something else happened in his homeworld while he was gone that led to the Warrior of Light returning from a seemingly deceased state. But that would not explain why Alexander was clueless on the matter. "This is a rather queer revelation for the both of us it seems. But yes, we all came to the conclusion that you perished when the castle crashed after you succeeded in taking it. However, by the sounds of it I assume that in your case that you did not get trapped underneath the castle rubble or anything of the sort?" he responded.
The Warrior of Light would then ask about the aftermath of his death. "Doma would be liberated, but we would have little time for celebratation. We soon would head for Gyr Abania to earn Ala Mhigo's liberation. The idea to assassinate the Ala Mhigan viceroy Zenos arose, but before I could have a full attempt at the Garlean's head.... I started to see a vision. At first I was under the impression that this was the what the Scions called the Echo," he responds to the Eorzean's question. Keimusho wretched at this recent memory. He decided not to mention the fact that he had to kill his former master before hand. He concluded that the specific detail was irrelevant to Alexander's question. "Instead of seeing the past. I instead saw this world, Zephon. And then that was when I ended up here," he continued. The Au Ra's own curiosity peeked as he attempted to explain his situation to him. "But... if you lived then what happened afterwards?" he asked the Eorzean.
