"Get ready , ZEPHRON, for YUFFIE!"
The Great Ninja Yuffie!
Yuffie gave Caius a look that she was sure he couldn't see, since he was still riding the dragon. She paused, and just decided to stick her tongue out at him. "Water schmater, I'm dyin' here," she moaned dramatically, as if she was on her death bed. Or in a grade school play and putting on an over-the-top death scene. Y'know, one of the two.
"Heeeey," she whined. "It's not an act! I can't help it if I'm super tough and super cool!" she countered. But then she looked down and felt her stomach wretch one more time. "Althoooooooooough, landing for a little bit does sound good. Let's do that," she said with a nod, deciding that this was the best course of action.
"It's okay, I'm sure that Vorlun could use the rest anyway!" she added, trying to bring a bit of chirp back into her voice despite her painful stomach.

The Dragonblades
"Sounds like we need a break so you can die on the ground, then" Caius joked back at her when Yuffie exclaimed that she was dying. She continued her "tough" act, of course, but Caius just rolled his eyes and started whispering to Vordun around the time that Yuffie would finally relent that she wanted to take a break. That was fine with him, of course, seeing as he had already been telling Vordun to land them gently.
Of course, Yuffie still had to try and pretend it was for Vordun's good. Caius turned to stare at her with half-lidded eyes. "I know when he's tired" Caius pointed out. This flight was nothing for Vordun, though even Caius got a bit jet-lagged after enough distance. The dragon was far more capable of handling long flights than he was, so he doubted that Vordun was even slightly tired at this point. Still, if Yuffie needed to go down, then they needed to land.
Soon enough, Vordun would land on a grassy plain, with a chocobo farm noticable in the distance. Caius smiled slightly at the sight of it as he dismounted, before looking further into the distance and seeing the sight of Provo's capital city just a little ways away. It wouldn't be too much longer before Vordun would be able to get there once they were back up in the air.
Caius would then reach over and try to assist Yuffie off the dragon. Considering she was sick, it was for the best that she got a little help.

"Get ready , ZEPHRON, for YUFFIE!"
The Great Ninja Yuffie!
Yuffie just groaned and gave Caius a dirty look when he told her that he knew Vordun wasn't tired. Ugh. Why did people have to be so mean and call out her lies all the time? Why couldn't people just let her tell obvious lies and stop pointing out when they weren't true? Darn it!
Luckily, Vordun still landed shortly, and Yuffie was off the back seat before Caius could get to her to help her. She might have felt sick, but she was still a ninja, and she'd be darned if she was spending a second longer on the back of the dragon. As soon as she was on the ground, she queasily stumbled forward, and then decided to just lay face first on the ground, arms and legs spread out like a starfish, as if she was hugging the ground.
"Ugh. I am never leaving you again. Never ever, she mumbled into the grass, before rolling over, and laying on her back, where she stared up at the sky, hoping that the ground would stop spinning. "If humans were meant to fly... float materia would be way more useful," she commented with a groan. Then, slowly, she sat up, taking in where ever they were. After a few moments, she spotted in the distance the chocobo farm.
"Hey! Look! A chocobo farm!" she called out, excitedly getting back to her feet, and pausing only to groan as her stomach wretched. "We can go there and get a chocobo instead!" she suggested enthusiastically, apparently as if neither of them wanted to fly on Vordun anymore. Yuffie didn't care about what she had said before, right now, all she knew was that there was no way she wanted to get back on the dragon...

The Dragonblades
Caius scratched behind Vordun's ears as Yuffie bemoaned their method of travel, and how much she missed the ground. Caius took some time to stretch his arms and legs, and get Vordun a few dragon treatos -- or the closest thing he could get to that -- before Yuffie suddenly pointed out the chocobo farm in the distance. And that they could get chocobos there. "Alright. I guess we can. We could also walk, it's not that far" Caius brought up, but he figured that was a losing battle with this one. "And considering you're current queasy, are you absolutely sure that you want to be rocking up and about aboard a chocobo?" he then asked, realizing that a sick Yuffie probably wasn't going to do much better on a chocobo.
Regardless, he soon began walking towards the chocobo farm. Whether they were to go the way of the farm itself, or skip it and keep headed towards the city, well that was up to Yuffie. Vordun had deigned to pad alongside them and rest his wings. While Vordun could have kept going, and the dragon seemed a bit confused at the fact that they weren't taking the rest of the way by air, Vordun didn't have any reason to complain when they had more opportunity to rest.

"Get ready , ZEPHRON, for YUFFIE!"
The Great Ninja Yuffie!
Yuffie turned around, hands on her hips, with them cocked to the side as she eyed up Caius who had just suggested about walking. "Uh, I'm the Single White Rose of Wutai, I THINK I can handle a little cho-" she paused, half way through snapping back at him, as her stomach gurgled with the newfound energy that she had put into her protests, and she suddenly turned a shade of green, and ran off towards a nearby bush.
A few moments of retching later, and she staggered back to face him, swaying a little uneasily on her feet. She groaned. "...But, uh, I guess, walking is... y'know, better...." she admitted after a moment. "We might run into some monsters. Gotta... gotta keep the skills sharp! You miss all that on a chocobo," she pointed out. "Plus, Cloud! If he's around here, we gotta keep an eye out. Yep, definitely better to walk. Just for those reasons. No other reason," she decided, heading out on foot.
She hadn't really thought about what Vordun was going to do, but she hadn't quite expected him to just plod along behind them. Yuffie took in a deep breath of air, trying to enjoy the feeling of no longer being about to throw up everywhere. She turned back. "See? Isn't this better? Jus' a couple of badasses taking their dragon for a walk!" Yuffie said, her chirpy tone beginning to return the longer they were on the ground. "Now, let's see if we can find that town!" she said confidently, before remembering she didn't actually know the way.

The Dragonblades
Well, at least Yuffie had the sense not to try and test her stomach further. Though only after having to stop to heave, to which Caius sighed and stopped Vordun so that Yuffie could take her time and... Finish with whatever contents were still in her stomach. Caius held out a hand and a preserved piece of fish landed in it. Vordun immediately began jumping up and down excitedly at the sight of it, likely not helping poor Yuffie's situation with the small tremors that this would cause. Caius quickly shoved the fish towards Vordun's mouth to spare Yuffie further issue. By the time she returned, Vordun had long gobbled the fish whole.
Then came the excuses as to why they should walk. Caius' non-fishy hand was brought to his face with a quiet groan as Yuffie began her barrage of reasons as to how walking was definitely better in a hundred ways that did not in fact include her being queasy. Though one of them caught his attention.
"I know where Cloud is" Caius brought up at that. "He's been resting in the care of one of the Dragonblades. He got roughed up pretty bad after charging Sephiroth. As far as I know, he's still under Yuna's care. She's a healer, strong too. She's capable of the art of summoning without the need for artifacts or anything else, just her natural magic. She'll get Cloud patched up, but he'll likely be there for a bit."
Yuffie was back to her old self for long, though quickly remembered she didn't know where to go. Caius shrugged at that as he took the lead. "Once we get to Yuna's clinic, I'll leave you there to get re-acquainted with our mutual friend. I'm going to gather some intel while you do that" Caius spoke up then. And get a drink while he was at it. He really did need one.

"Get ready , ZEPHRON, for YUFFIE!"
The Great Ninja Yuffie!
Yuffie couldn't help but give Caius a surprised look when he said he knew where Cloud was. Had he said that before? Yuffie had thought he had said that Cloud was missing, but he kind of knew where he might be. Not that he knew exactly where he was. That made life a lot easier! "Hey! You coulda said you knew where he was BEFORE!" she pouted as she followed along behind him, as if that would have improved their situation in any way. It would have at least helped her make up a more convincing lie about why walking was a great idea.
"That DOES sound like Cloud, though. Skipping like a third of the entire adventure bein' sick and restin' up. I wonder if Tifa's with him this time too? I bet she's gotta be around somewhere!" Yuffie exclaimed, forgetting of course that (as far as she knew) Caius had no idea who Tifa was. "She can SUMMON with natural magic? Woooooooooow," Yuffie whistled with surprise. "I wonder if she can teach me to do that! Then I can summon my OWN dragon, like Bahamut! Or Neo Bahamut! Or Zero Bahamut!" she said with excitement, jumping around a little with the idea now that her queasiness had worn off. "No offence Vordun! I know you totally wanna come with me, but, poor Caius there would be TOOOOO upset," she added to the dragon following them.
"Ohhh, okay, gather intel! But don't forget to bring me along if you need me! I'm a ninja, remember? SUPER sneaky, which means I'm great at gather-WHOA!" she tripped over a big stick as she was busy telling Caius how great she was at not making a noise, and stumbled forward, arms flailing as her legs wheeled beneath her, before she caught herself, falling past him and then turning around as she finally managed to right herself before hitting the ground.

The Dragonblades
"I did. I said he's in Provo" Caius spoke calmly when Yuffie went at him for "not telling her" that he knew where Cloud was. "The city of Provo, in particular. And you were there when I brought up earlier to Tomoe about him being with Yuna in Provo" he added. Not particularly shaming her for not listening, but at least pointing out that he had been upfront on their mutual friend's whereabouts from the beginning. Yuffie then began to go off about how Cloud had missed about a third of their journey, from being sick and resting up. Caius blinked a few times, unsure of what that had to do with Cloud being injured by Sephiroth. And it was hard to say if her words were true or just another Yuffie-ism. He had grown to start knowing when to tell one between the other, but the process of designating such still was going to take some time.
"Tifa's in Sonora, last I saw her" Caius blurted out, before seeming to realize that just saying such on its own could be problematic. "Right, I first met Cloud in Sonora. A giant robot... House-thing -- was set loose upon the city. I wound up running into Cloud while moving to defend against it. I then found myself in a bar that a woman named Tifa, who seems to know Cloud, is running in the city while I was myself recovering" came his attempt to elaborate. Hopefully that would clear up that little plot point a bit better. Though he did smile when Yuffie gushed over Yuna, and brought up the possibility of being taught.
"I think it's a natural talent, by what little she has told me of her summoners' culture. Some are just capable of doing it, and it is those that become summoners. You can ask her when we get there" Caius spoke then. He did not know what a Neo Bahamut or Zero Bahamut were, however, which puzzled him. Bahamut was one of the Astrals in his world, the King of Astrals in particular. He was the god of their world, and yet just as Yuna wielded Shiva like a mere tool, Yuffie treated Bahamut like it was just as such, and not even the strongest Bahamut for that matter.
These other worlds were so strange sometimes. It was hard to remember that they were indeed different worlds, with their own versions of the gods. If they were even gods at all in those worlds. Vordun meanwhile didn't seem fussed when Yuffie claimed she wanted a god dragon. In fact the dragon was more preoccupied with an apple that Caius had materialized for a snack. He hadn't eaten since before Yuffie had knocked down the door, after all. He'd figured he could just eat on the way. But of course Vordun was a glutton. Caius had just been listening to Yuffie's request to bring her along if need be, nodding along before he was nearly knocked over by Vordun. Caius scoffed with a small laugh and held out the apple, a cutting knife appearing in his other hand. "We'll share" Caius offered to the dragon, but the moment that he held out the apple, it was gone. Vordun had scarfed the entire thing before Caius could even do anything, and the mercenary stared at the dragon with narrowed eyes.
"So much for sharing" Caius complained bitterly as the knife disappeared. He looked back to Yuffie as he wiped his hands free of slobber on his pants, only to watch her topple right forwards, barely catch herself after loudly staggering around, and then claim she did so on purpose. Caius couldn't help a sigh at that. "You know, making mistakes is part of how you learn" Caius advised her at that. "You make a mistake. You learn from it. You're less likely to make that mistake again. It is all part of growth" he brought up as he summoned his sword. "You criticized my gunblade's design before, and the potential flaws. How many failed modifications do you think I went through before I got to this point? The answer is -- a lot. I have modified, reforged, taken apart and modified this sword's blade again, and again, and again. This sword has gone through many new blades until I could make modifications that wouldn't dull the point, or explode from the inside and shatter into sword bits and shrapnel. It helps I've been working with both machines and blades since I was young. Took apart a bunch of old, scrapped cars and managed to assemble a working one when I was 16. But that too, took many mistakes. Not really any shame in it."

"Get ready , ZEPHRON, for YUFFIE!"
The Great Ninja Yuffie!
"Yeah, but I thought we were gonna HUNT for him. Y'know, like an adventure," Yuffie replied when he confirmed he had said Cloud was in Provo. Okay, had she been there when he'd mentioned this Yuna lady? Maybe. But she didn't know he like had his exact address. That was slightly less exciting. And meant that they'd be seeing Cloud sooner than she expected. She was surprisingly nervous. Cloud was... never quite her BIGGEST fan, even if she worked hard to win him over after her... uh, misdeeds... and she wasn't sure how he'd react to it being HER that found him out of all the gang.
Plus he might tell Caius the truth about her and she didn't really want him finding that out. He'd never let her in the Dragonblades if he found out about her materia stealing act.
"Wait, Tifa's here too? But NOT with Cloud?" Yuffie asked, a little surprised by that. Tifa was ALSO not exactly her biggest fan. In fact, out of all the gang of her old party, those were the two probably still holding the most grudge against her. Especially Tifa. Which was unusual because Tifa was pretty compassionate, but Yuffie guessed she'd really pissed her off. Cloud had (mostly) she thought forgiven her, especially after his own lies had been revealed. Even if his lies had been like, a psychotic break, and not, just, basic lying. "That's weird. I thought those two were totally together. They did the dirty underneath the airship once and didn't realise we were all watching," she said, because Yuffie had no filter and sometimes information just blurted out. "Well, kinda. The others covered my eyes and made me look away. Said I was too young. AS IF."
"Oh, you mean, like how I have natural talent for BEING AWESOME," Yuffie replied when he explained Yuna's talent, although she was a little disappointed. Zephron wasn't quite like anywhere she had ever been, and she had gotten around. But here, the rules of what governed magic and ability seemed to completely change upon who was using it. It wasn't like back home, where gathering materia would grant you more magical powers. Here, you never knew what powers somebody may or may not have. It was strange.
"Well, it's not my fault I'm too awesome to make mistakes," Yuffie replied with a shrug when he tried to point out her error tripping over. Although in retrospect maybe that was why she was such a good ninja! If you learned every time you tripped over something, given the amount of times Yuffie tripped over, it was no wonder she was a BADASS!
"D'yknow how many failed modifications my shuriken went through before it was ready?" Yuffie asked back, grinning, when he started the story about his gunblade. "NONE. 'cause it's a shuriken. It's already perfect. They've been around for like, a zillion years, and used by Wutai Ninja since like, the dawn of time or whatever. Sometimes, things are pretty perfect the way they are. You don't gotta spend ages making a new weapon and tinkering with it and putting stupid mechanics in when you don't need 'em. The sword is like, a zillion years old too. It's already pretty perfect," she said, with a cheerful shrug. "I swear, you're just like the Shinra peeps back home. Always messing with stuff that's already good. You don't gotta reinvent the wheel y'know? Sometimes, all you need is four big spikes stuck to a thing you can throw. The ultimate weapon, already!"
"Ooooor, to put it your way, OTHER generations over like, thousands of thousands of years, have made all the mistakes already, so you don't have to!"

The Dragonblades
"Guess you should have asked" Caius cheeked with an amused little grin as Yuffie complained about not getting to hunt for Cloud. That would take forever, and had she forgotten they were supposed to be here on business as well? "We do still have a job to do here, remember that. Need to see how you can handle yourself in a real scenario. And it it works with how we do business" he was at least open about in regards to the purpose of this trip. The location had of course been to ensure her meeting with Cloud, but there was still Dragonblades business to be had.
Caius blinked a few times though when Yuffie exclaimed some strange things about Tifa not being with Cloud and how this was weird because they did the dirty once. Did the dirty? What did that strange slang stand for? While Caius was not unfamiliar with the moogles and the chocobo, this was not a reference that the once-isolated mercenary quite understood. So much of it went over his head. Were the two romantically involved? Caius had gotten that vibe from his conversations with them, though he didn't know for sure. He still, however, wasn't able to piece together the Yuffie-speak in regards to what had happened below the Highwind that night.
So that all went unanswered until Yuffie proclaimed that she did not make mistakes, on account that her shuriken was perfect and so was she. Caius emitted a low sigh at the whole thing. Kids, right? Though he did give her a look when she compared him to Shinra, cold as ice. An indicator that maybe she had stepped too far across the line by comparing him to Shinra, considering what he knew about it.
"Did you ever consider that maybe I just like tinkering?" Caius asked, trying to keep his calm as best as humanly possible. "It keeps me busy, keeps me calm and helps me relax when it feels like the world's on fire. And the modifications to use energy bullets means I'm not putting holes in someone's head when I don't mean for them to, so I consider it time well-spent."
