As he approached the two men, he observed the color of their souls. He did not recall seeing those specific hues before. As he eventually asked where they were, the rough-looking man with a patch on his eye spoke, and revealed that they were in the Fractured Plains. Hythlodaeus furrowed his brows slightly in confusion. "That far?" he asked instinctively, looking around for a moment. "I had heard about this place, but… is it not quite far from..? How did I..?" He brought a hand under his chin and the other under the elbow, assuming a pensive position. "Was I that drunk?" he muttered to himself, thinking out loud.
A few moments later, he shook his head gently, then smiled softly at the brighter-haired man as he rhetorically asked if he was an outsider as well. "Most definitely." he replied "Although I have been around for a while now… Although the last time I checked, I was in Torensten. I could suppose I drank a few bottles too much, but it surely is a long way to walk when you can barely stand..." he then added, before shrugging.
"Well, if there is a festivity ongoing, there will probably be music - and where there is music, I can learn local songs. I cannot wait to witness their traditions." He swiftly recovered his cheerful smile. "My friends, you two do not appear to be the kind of men who would like loud music and louder people, but… perhaps you would be more inclined to share your stories with me, while we wait for the festivities to begin? I would love to hear about wherever you come from. I would guess them to be two very different places… Are you not curious?"
"Let the light of your soul shine for all to see."
The first thing that popped into his mind as he awakened was that he had no idea how and when he’d fallen asleep. The second was a terrible headache that made him bring both his hands to gently massage his temples. Had he drunk that much? He did not recall one single thing about the previous evening. Suddenly remembering about his lute, he sat up and looked around. He seemed to be way too close to some sort of strange fissure brimming with magic. Instinctively, he stood, took his lute and bag from the ground and started walking in the opposite direction. He was most definitely not strong enough to get out of a messy situation on his own, especially considering that to the other side of the fissure, he could see tall grass and a few creatures he did not want to be greeted by.
After casting a little spell to ease the pain, he started walking towards what looked like a settlement. There were people in that direction, so perhaps he could at least know where he had ended up, and find a way back to the major cities, possibly Aljana, Torensten or Sonora - although the place looked nothing like the surroundings of Sonora. The thought of the city brought back the thought of his best friend with a sting of pain in his chest. The bard missed him deeply but knew he should not go back to him. Hades had said that Hythlodaeus was not a burden and he was surely honest, but the pink-haired Ancient felt like he would force himself to detach from that person, eventually. He could not force his presence upon his friend forever, not now that they were not on their own Star or among her people.
One step after the other, lost in thought, the bard eventually reached the settlement. As he had seen from afar, there were quite a few people, most dressed modestly and in brown or other neutral colours - quite the opposite of him, who was a lavender-coloured dot among them and attracted quite a few glances, probably for that very same reason. He could only hope that they would not be like in Sonora, and admittedly the whole place was completely different. He smiled softly to whoever met his gaze, but nobody seemed to be willing to interact with him with more than the eyes. There were two souls in particular that attracted his gaze: two souls that were not from this Star, but another. And two different ones, as far as he could tell. So he approached the closest one. "Excuse me. I'm sorry to bother." he started, waving his hand slightly at the man "Hythlodaeus, travelling ministrel. If I may.. where are we?"

In hearing his friend’s words, Hythlodaeus chuckled, hiding his lips with the back of his hand as usual. “Of course, Hades. I jest,” he replied, before walking closer to him and letting him know all of his thoughts. He was lost, confused, and scared. Much less so now that he had found his beloved lifelong friend. He only wanted to rest a hand on Hades’ shoulder at first, but he ended up embracing him before he could stop himself and, as soon as he realised what he had just done, he hesitated. He knew just how picky his friend was, touch-wise. Yet again, just for once, he chose he needed to feel him physically close more than he worried about the other’s boundaries. Just this once. And he could still push the bard away if he wanted to, could he not? But surprisingly enough, he let him. Not entirely willingly, if he had to guess.
After he felt the few pats on his back in the very stiff attempt to comfort him and heard the words Hades spoke, Hythlodaeus let his friend go and took one step backwards as he tried to let the new notions sink in. He had somehow travelled to a different star called Zephon. Accidentally, or maybe pulled by an unknown force in his sleep - he did not remember. “What about ours?” he asked, furrowing his brows slightly in a confused expression “What happened to it? Actually, why am I…” he looked at his own hands as if he was seeing them for the first time. “... alive?”
He looked at Hades once again, this time forcing himself not to get too close. “In my latest memory, I was drifting off into the lifestream. Then I awakened in someone’s bed because that very same someone had found me unconscious in the streets.” He rested his head on his fist, as his elbow rested on his other hand. He lost himself in thought for a few moments, pondering the possibilities that could have lead to that very moment and of what could happen from there on, then he gently shook his head. “No matter. I am with you, now.” He smiled softly, before seemingly remembering something. “Ah! Is Azem here, too? I would love to see them.” he then cheerfully asked.

At the woman's question, Hythlodaeus brought the back of his hand to cover his lips and chuckled. "Perhaps. Or perhaps you could be right." he replied, with a playful grin on his face. He waited for Nerissa to be ready, then smiled as she asked what he would have her sing. "I have a plan." he replied, then he swiftly took a tiny notebook out of his pocket. "Here." He handed it to her, open on a page with lyrics written on it.
"It should be simple enough for you to catch up easily. Allow me." he cleared his throat, then went to her side and started singing at a very low volume to let her hear the right notes, while playing a couple of chords. He only sang the first verse, then smiled at her. "Do you think you can handle it?" he asked softly, moving his gaze to her face. "The rest is barely any different, except for this part, but I can sing that myself." He proceeded to explain a couple of details about the music, then smiled warmly. "Do you need me to repeat anything, or is everything clear?"
After asking this question, he would wait for her answer, then repeat whatever she may need if she did need anything, then he would gesture to her to follow him and go together with her to the same place he was sitting before. "Whenever you are ready, my lady." he would then say, readying his instrument, and then playing the song as soon as she gave him a sign.

No matter how hard he tried, Hythlodaeus could not reach that man with his words. He despised violence and was also quite terrible at fighting, so he would have liked to not be forced to.. but he was not completely without defences. He just really, really did not want to. In the end, though, he finally gave up the faint hope of getting away without collisions in the very moment he heard the man's 'colleagues' talk about 'having fun' with the lady. These people would not listen even if the truth had been right in front of their eyes. Hythlodaeus felt fire-aspected aether stirring and saw it with the corner of his eye, as it gathered in the lady's palm, and sighed.
He did not have the strength to break free once again, and he did not know whether he could still use his abilities to their full length, but the very least he could do at that point was try anything at all, so he closed his eys and focused on the flow of aether within and around him. He had done it just a few moments before, after all, had he not? He took a deep breath and finally let himself flow into it, riding the current: in the blink of an eye, he disappeared into thin air, only to appear once again quite a few steps away. As the man looked around to find him, clearly confused, the bard summoned his bow and nocked an arrow.
He heard the lady's voice once again. She had asked that same question moments before and had been ignored, but now it seemed like her words finally went through. It could have been because of her fire, because of her tone, or perhaps because of her words, but a strong indecision pervaded the men's souls. They did not want to fight her anymore - on the contrary, they slowly walked backwards. Hythlodaeus did not wait to see whether they would run away, though, as he locked eyes with the man who had attacked him.
That man was desperate, at that point. Furious and desperate. Perhaps he understood he had been wrong all along, and now only wanted someone to take everything out on. When Hythlodaeus read the intention behind his charge, when he saw the desperate hope staining the color of his soul, he made a decision: after infusing aether into his arrow, he aimed at the man's shoe with millimetric precision, pinning its sole to the ground. The man lost his balance as his foot slid out of the shoe, and eventually fell onto the ground. Just for good measure, Hythlodaeus shoot another two arrows onto his clothes, so that he would be pinned to the ground for a little while. "I am truly sorry." he said, quickly walking past him and towards the lady.
"Let us go somewhere safe, milady, before I thank you properly for your aid." he told her, extending a hand with his usual, gentle smile curving his slips just slightly. "I would not want to be here when he breaks free, nor to be forced into a fight to the bitter end." If she took his hand, he would lead the lady to an inn nearby - the same inn he was walking back to when those men first found him.

Hythlodaeus
Hythlodaeus brought a hand to his lips to ‘hide’ a chuckle. ”I am from Amaurot, to be precise, although I did travel to Elpis more often than not.” he replied, then he properly introduced himself and smiled gently, asking a curious: ”Friend of whom?”
Hearing Elidibus call him by title, he wondered for a moment if he should ask to be called by name, but let the thought drift away soon after. ”No need to thank me, my friend. I am fairly sure you would have done the same.” he replied, starting to walk towards the resort. A few moment later, he noticed the ‘boy’ was not following him anymore and turned to be met by his soul, in a darker and much desaturated color from before. The man was desperate, probably feeling empty. Hythlodaeus could not help but pity him. He truly was the shadow of himself - but the lavender-haired Ancient was sure he could help, with enough time and effort.
When their eyes met again, the bard greeted him warmly, his expression cheerfully gentle once again. His question made him sigh. “Oh, dear.” he muttered. ”I’ve known you ever since you were more or less…” he positioned his hand horizontally at the height of his waist ”... this tall.” He continued. What he did not tell him, was that he had not really grown much taller since. ”So yes, you are Elidibus. But before that, and underneath the mask and titles, you are also Themis.” He smiled softly. ”And please, do feel free to informally call me Hythlodaeus. We have reached that stage long ago.” He chuckled once again, covering his mouth with his hand, then turned around. ”So, shall we get you someplace to rest?”

Hythlodaeus
Waiting patiently for his old friend to recover, Hythlodaeus prayed for him to wake up. He tried his best to help, but he was well aware he could not do much more than he just had. Soon enough, his voice responded, and left the bard speechless for a moment. He looked at Themis in surprise and confusion before eventually shaking his head. "I suppose you are in the same condition as I was when I drifted here." he muttered. "Do not worry about it, for the time being."
He smiled softly, then shifted in position until he was on one knee and extended his hand towards the younger Ancient. "Come, let us bring you somewhere more comfortable. You need to rest and recover your energies." He tried to sound as soothing and reassuring as possible, considering he knew full well the confusion one could be in at their first contact with that Star. "You may not remember me, so allow me to introduce myself." He said a few moments later, whether he had accepted the hand or not.
"I am Hythlodaeus, former chief of the Bureau of the Architect." he explained with the same, never-fading gentle smile on his lips "I am currently a wandering ministrel, to be completely honest, but we can discuss about this later." He chuckled, then looked in the direction of the Hero's Haven. "Can you walk? The resort is nearby. We will find you something to eat.. and maybe some dry clothes."
Although he may have sounded cheerful and possibly carefree, he could not help but worry. What once was a soul overflowing with aether and in a bright, vibrant shade of light blue was now less than a shadow of what it had formerly been. Just what could have brought Themis to consume so much of his energy? Could it truly have only been Zodiark's will? He did not sense Zodiark's presence within him, but still...
He shook the thought away and looked at Themis once again, waiting for him to follow.

He had been roaming along the shore for quite a bit of time now, his lavender hair flowing behind his back for once, instead of being tied in the usual loose braid. With a lute hanging from his back and his shoes in one hand, he walked in tranquility, lost in deep thought as countless times before. The fresh water tingled his senses, gently flowing back and forth around his bare feet.
Suddenly, his train of thought was halted by an extreme disturbance in the surrounding aether. A.. distortion of sorts? It brought him back from his song brainstorming to reality. At first he watched in awe, then he realized there was something extremely familiar about its color. He knew, didn't he? He had seen it before. "Is that..?" he muttered. Why was it so frail? It could not possibly only be because of the Star they drifted in - Hades was perfectly fine the last time they met in Sonora.
But him? He was utterly devoid of aether.
Hythlodaeus approached as his old friend washed ashore. "Heavens.. what has happened to you, my friend?" he asked, although he could clearly see he was unconscious, while dragging him away from the water. He could not believe his own eyes, he seemed to be entirely spent. "Well, I may be absolutely horrible at aetherial manipulation... But I should be able to do at least this much..." After muttering there words, he tried to give his friend whatever energy he could spare, careful not to exhaust himself in the process. The next time he talked, his voice was tired, but gentle and soothing. "Please, Themis.. wake up."

As Hythlodaeus let out his concerns, he changed his mind about everything he had done from the moment he had remembered Hades to that very second. He should not have looked for him, he should not have reached out to him, he should not have booked an appointment, nor talked to him..
But the man's words suddenly blew away all of those thoughts.
Welcome in his life, he said. He would not be going anywhere, he said. Hearing those words coming from him, and with that very specific tone, made Hythlodaeus freeze for a moment. Even his tears stopped flowing, every bit as pleasantly surprised as he was. The pink-haired raised his head and looked at his lifelong friend. "Are you.. comforting me, Hades?" he asked, with the hint of a smile on his lips. A much more heartfelt one, compared to the one from a few moments before, as he was speaking his thoughts and regrets out loud.
He took a few steps towards his friend and eventually ended up right beside him. "Well.. I feel.. lost. Confused. Scared, even. Terrified, to be completely honest - I don't know where I am, or why, or what I'm doing, or what I will do. But you.." His smile widened as Hythlodaeus extended a hand to rest it on Hades' shoulder, while speaking. He only wanted to do exactly that, to rest his hand on the man's shoulder, but as soon as he made contact he lost track of his own intentions and squeezed it. Slightly, at first, but then harder and harder. "You're here. Right here beside me." he whispered, trembling slightly. "I.. I don't need anything else. I can take anything that comes my way, now."
He did not even realize when, but sometime after those words he let go of the man's shoulder, and leaned forward to wrap his arms around him in a tight embrace - until his dark haired tickled the bard's face. "Ah." He muttered as realization kicked in. Hades had never been much for physical contact, had he? Perhaps he should let go. But he did not want to let go. Yet again, he did not want to be a bother to his friend. And as his thoughts kept fighting against each other, he stopped moving altogether.
Would he push him away? Hythlodaeus would understand. But he still did not want him to.

He nodded at her words. "Of course. Things often change, and to always be up to date on everything is near impossible." He smiled sweetly at her, then his smile widened at her thanks. "Nice work so far, my friend." He said before letting out a soft chuckle. "It will be easier as time goes on."
He then started thinking of a different way, one that he had never tried before, to express his feeling and turn them into music - not for the people to hear, but for him alone. Until he thought he was probably bothering and apologised, although he did not really see annoyance in her. Curiosity perhaps? And some sort of amusement.
"I.. suppose I am, now." He replied to her question. "I'm simply not used to this. I used to be an office worker, you know." He chuckled "But I will follow your advice, thank you." And with another smile he shifted his position once again. "I suppose I needed this. And I am truly glad to have met you. Despite being so young, you have opened my eyes to possibilities I dared not see before."
He sighed. "I cannot help but feel overwhelmed by the mere thought." he confessed "I fear that insisting on this will let him away. And at the same time if my supposed death and many other things did not.. I know I am worried over nothing, but..." He stopped and chuckled. "And here I am, thinking like a child at their first love."
