Torensten, the Adventurer's Paradise. Hythlodaeus could see why that beautiful city was called so. With its beautiful skyline, the airships, the magic crystals.. everything was pretty vibrant, even more so for the the bard, who was deeply lost in the sight of its aether. Surely enough, it was not as abundant as on Aetherys, but he had seen this change on Hydaelyn itself before. As time went on, aether was probably destined to dissipate... or perhaps it was simply less abundant because that was the planet's nature. He did not know.
After finding a good spot to sit on, Hythlodaeus took his guitar, and started playing one of his songs. It was a cheerful melody, accompanied gently by his melodious voice. He was a bard, after all, so why not spread his works to everywhere? Even his best friends had told him, more often than not, to do so. The melody spread softly in the plaza, supported by the tiny bit of magic needed to make it so that everyone could hear - although not in an upsetting volume.
He kept singing softly, while a small crowd gathered around him. Some people hummed in unison with him, some clapped their hands - a couple of kids even danced to his music. And all of this made his heart burst with joy. He had always been kind of recognized as a skilled musician, and he always thought it was the only thing he was truly good at beside archery - and his Soulsight, of course. Even now, looking at the people, he could not help but smile. Their colors, they were so vibrant and bright when they came closer to listen. He was so glad he could have such an effect on people.
The song soon ended. Some people applauded him, others just left. But he had brightened their day, even if only for a brief moment of respite, and he was happy enough with that.

It was a difficult choice, the one he made. He had chosen to let his best friend and most cherished love go, at least for the time being. He decided to go on a travel, to allow the whole world to enjoy his musical talent, as both his best friends had often told him to do before. With only a guitar and his beloved bow at his side, he went on a trip to... anywhere.
Said trip to anywhere brought him to all kinds of places. He travelled from Sonora - a city not too dissimilar from Amaurot in a few things although way too distant in others - to Provo, the city of merchants. It was probably his favourite city for the time being, as its markets were truly a wonder. From there, he went to Torensten. This city in particular was probably the one that reminded him of Hydaelyn the most. It almost felt normal to witness the daily clashes within the city - Azem would have probably loved it. After his stay in the dukedom, he finally travelled all the way to the city of Aljana. It was not an easy journey: it took him time, effort, and quite a bit of help, as he temporarily joined the groups of travelling adventurers he found on his path.
Aljana was... peculiar, to say the least. Ancient, surely, and generally speaking fire-aspected - most certainly because it was in the desert: the air was dry and hot, but the food and drinks were something special, to Hythlodaeus. He had never tried anything like it before. The river was an astonishing view, with aether flowing within its waters the trees sheltering the bard from the scorching heat.
It was during one of his strolls that his eyes stumbled upon a little pub. He had an absolutely certified problem with alcohol - as long as Hades and Azem said, at least -, and although he was not really in the mood for a heavy drink, he would have enjoyed something light and alcohol-free, such as a lassi. He entered the pub quietly, with his usual warm smile, while tying his hair in a loose braid as usual. He soon ordered his beverage and took a moment to look around. There were not many people inside, but one in particular caught his attention. Judging by his colours, it was probably a pretty distressed man.
«Excuse me.» said the bard, walking closer with his lassi in one hand «Would you mind if I sat here with you? I do not really want to pry, but... you look distressed. Maybe you could find comfort in a supporting ear? Or perhaps, if you do not wish to talk about your problems with a stranger, we could simply talk for a while, to let your thoughts go?» The lavender-haired Ancient smiled kindly at the man. «Or say the word, and I will leave you be and just play my guitar over there.» and he pointed at nowhere in particular, away from him.

«Now this is unexpected.» is the first thing that came out of the bard's lips as soon as he opened his eyes. He was clearly in someone's bed. But was it his? Definitely not. And he did not remember anything about last night. Did he sleep with someone? Was he too drunk to remember? But he was sure he had just faded away into the lifestream.. With.. With.. Whom? «Oh, dear. Amnesia? This is something new.» he muttered, but while his voice might have seemed curious and cheerful, in his heart he found an overwhelming emptiness. It was important. That person he had drifted away with, he was important - the most important person in his life, the one and only persone he could never live without.
Trying to keep as calm as he could, he stood. No dizziness, no pain. Good. «Alright..» he muttered, and he opened the door to face a young lady with golden locks and dark eyes. Why was everything so different? He had not really though of it a moment ago, but this place.. How could there be so little aether? Back in Amaurot, or even on the shard named Hydaelyn, this amount of aether would have been low enough for people to dissipate at the slightest alteration. Yet here.. It seemed completely normal. The aether was balanced, somehow, between people and the environment. This girl.. She would have probably been a bright soul sparkling in purple and blue, back in Aetherys. Here, though, she simply had a soft aura of that same color, and nothing more. Jusging by her looks, she was a common person.
«Oh, uhm, greetings!» he said with a smile, but before he could say anything else, the lady smiled back and told him to follow her. She brought him to another room, which had a kitchen and a table, made for two. She asked him to take a seat, and when he attempted to refuse she insisted, so he simply obliged. «May I ask what happened?» said Hythlodaeus while looking at her pouring some soup in a bowl, and just a few moments later she brought the soup to him with a smile. «I found you sleeping just outside my home, and the neighbors helped me bring you in. You definitely needed to sleep.»
With a rather confused expression, Hythlodaeus nodded. «Have I drifted somewhere, I wonder?» he muttered to himself, and the lady nodded. «Likely. You don't look like you're from anywhere around here.» He nodded once again. «I shall take my leave soon. But first.. I believe I have no way to repay you for your kindness. Is there anything I can do for you?» But she denied, and although the bard insisted, she would not let him repay his debt. An act of kindness is not a debt, she said. She was such a kind person. In the end, the purple-eyed ancient ate together with the lady, then left wearing a new set of clothes, that the lady had given him.
Wandering among the streets of the city, he soon found why, during their meal, the lady had told him to be wary. This side of the city was.. Something he had ever seen. It was as if the place itsf was split in two: the rich and the poor, the luxuries on one side and the struggle to live in dignity in the other. And he made sure not to mention where he was from, as suggested.
He soon remembered the reason of the weight on his chest. Hades. His beloved Hades, his best friend. For a moment, he thought he had lost him forever, but then, he remembered their promise. They would meet again in their next life, and supposedly, this was to be considered as such. So he started with questions. He asked for Hades, then for Emet-selch, and then even for that name he had heard once, Solus Galvus. And at some point, finally, someone told him he was alive and well. His relief was so overwhelming he almost burst into tears. Now to find the building he worked with, and get an appointment.
He offered to work as a waiter in the outskirts in exchange for someplace to eat and sleep, and did so for a couple of weeks. He had never been a waiter before, but luckily enough his memory, cunning and charisma helped him more than enough. Then, the day came. He bathed, then summoned a set of clothes, wore them, braided his hair and quickly started to walk towards his destination. He was so excited and anxious, his heart could burst.
A new life, with his lifelong friend. He knew Hades could be nothing more than that, but he had made peace with the thought eons before. He only wanted his Hades back.
At the entrance, he walked in with the usual smile painted on his lips. He announced himself to the secretary and waited for her to point him to the right office. He could already see his color. It truly was him. The bardwalked towards the door. His hearts was pounding loud enough for his ears to ring. Then he knocked, and waited, quivering in anticipation. «May I come in...» he asked, after a few seconds «... Hades?»

HEIGHT:: 194cm HAIR/EYES/SKIN:: lilac/purple/fair DISTINGUISHING MARKS:: his hair and eye color, slender build
II. PERSONA
Hythlodaeus is friendly and easygoing "by default". He is gentle and kind, but also terribly smug and cheeky - and he would almost never refuse to pull a prank on someone. He loves to tease, especially his best friends Azem and Emet-Selch, but even if he does that he also holds them in the highest regard. He also has a "tiny" problem of self-esteem, as he is fully aware that he is one of the weakest Amaurotines, and although his soulsight and ability with the bow are remarkable, he still considers himself almost entirely useless.
His purpose in life is to help and support Azem and Emet-Selch, as he believes his duty will be complete only when theirs will. For thir very reason, he has declined the seat of Emet-Selch in favour of Hades, and has chosen to help him by assuming the role of Chief od the Bureau of the Architect in order to support him and stay as close as possible to him.
He would not like to admit it, but he loves Hades deeply. Not only as a friend, but as a partner and soulmate. Still, he knows full well that the white-haired ascian's eart belongs to none other than Persephone, so he has somehow put his own heart to rest and given up on pursuing him.
He enjoys reading and most importantly he absolutely loves to play his lyre and to sing, to write and play music. He does so as soon as he is not overloaded with paperwork. Back in Amaurot, he used to sing for Hades and Azem more often than not.
Physically, he has soft features and a slender build, with purple hair and eyes and an everlasting tiny smile on his lips. He usually wears a simple black robe, but when outside of Amaurot he sometimes happen to wear a more comfortable set of clothes (x).
III. HISTORY
Ever since he was a child, his soulsight has always been his most renown ability - perhaps the only one worth mentioning. He has learned to play various instruments, weaving magic into his music, and to use proficiently bow and arrows. In his childhood, he has also met Hades, a grumpy child he soon started to pester every day - and he never stopped since. After an initial phase of denial, Hades grew attached to him and they became best friends.
Not much later, they met a youngling that would later be named Azem. They quickly grew on both Hythlodaeus and Hades, and they all became an inseparable trio. Hythlodaeus, noticing that his two friends were way more skillful than him, he swore to himself that, he would live for them and support them to the best of his abilities. For this very reason, he chose to help Hades by leaving the seat of Emet-Selch to him and accepting the role of Chief of the Bureau of the Architect instead.
One day, on a trip to Elpis, Hades and Hythlodaeus found one of Azem's familiars. They soon found out he was in truth a shard of Azem coming from the future, and together with him and Venat, they went to stop Hermes and his Meteion from causing too much trouble. They failed.
Mere years later, the Meteion they had all forgotten about because of Kairos returned, bringing about the Final Days: Hythlodaeus understood that, in order to help his friends and people, the only thing he could do was to sacrifice himself to summon Zodiark. He bid farewell to his best friends, and left to give his soul to the primal.
He rested in the primal's embrace for eons, witnessing the fall of Amaurot, the Sundering and several umbral and astral calamities. After the fall of Zodiark, he was finally released of the primal's grip, and drifted into the lifestream, regaining all his lost memories of Elpis.
In Ultima Thule, he was once again called by his new old friend, the reincarnation of Azem, who created a temporary body to allow him and Hades to manifest, with Venat's creation magic. The two of them helped to show Meteion that hope had returned to the Star she so wanted to destroy, and then drifted once again into the lifestream, hoping for Azem to reach them in another, new life.
A new life he found himself in just one bat of the eye later, with the same old body he had always had.
