Tseng wasn't surprised that Cissnei didn't turn around right away, but her voice brought a small smile to his face. It was relaxing to hear something familiar in this new world, the voice belonging to a fellow Turk was just the icing on the cake. "I'm afraid I haven't been here long enough to notice." It didn't help that the time he had spent here, he had spent it gathering information on people and places. He was trying to gather connections to use in the future when he needed them, nothing more than that.
Watching as she stood up, he gave her a friendly smile. Her looks were the same, minus the clothes she wore. Tseng had always thought she was a beautiful woman, but thought nothing more of the matter. He gave a small shrug at her question as he crossed his arms, the small smile still on his face. "I only arrived a few months ago. I've spent that time learning what I can." He had also taken up some odd jobs here and there, to keep his finances in order and to make sure he was still good at what he did.
Uncrossing his arms, he entered the room, giving her a nod. "It'd be a shame not to." It had been some time since the two of them had shared a drink together, or since he had a drink at all. Between what had happened to First Class Fair and the Sector Seven plate, the air at Shinra had changed. To be quite honest, it was rather pleasant to not be there anymore. Not that his loyalty had been to the company much at that point anyways.
At her comment on his attire, he couldn't help but chuckle. "So I've noticed. Got quite the chill during my travels." Tseng knew he didn't have to wear a suit anymore, he just hadn't been able to bring himself to change quite yet. "I will admit, I'm not sure what else I would be comfortable in." He wore pajama pants and a suit. That had been it for as long as he could remember. Oh, and sweat pants and a tshirt when he worked out. "Perhaps you would like to accompany me sometime to find a new wardrobe." A second opinion would be useful, and the eye of a woman as well.
Zack had the attention span of a goldfish, everyone who met him knew that. He had been like that ever since he was a kid, and there really wasn't much his parents could do to help him. He still got good grades in school and nothing ever life threatening happened because of it, the only thing that it really effected was social interactions. He was surprisingly focused on missions when it came down to it, but not so much while traveling or waiting for things to happen. He just gets really excited over random things, okay?
"The food more than the pretty girl, but sorry." His face fell just a little bit, as a puppy would when being scolded. It didn't last long, because her job sounded rather interesting to him. "I love crime shows! I always try to guess who did it before the end. I was sometimes right." When she stated Shinra didn't exist here, he was actually relieved. That was one thing he wasn't going to have to worry about. "That does sound close to what you were doing before, so I'm sure you're great at it."
Watching as she stole one of his fries, he grabbed one as well as he thought about her question. "Both of those sound like good ideas, and if I can find the right job, I could do both at once. I might stay away from anything that involves a cooperation though, but I'll be glad to help out wherever I can." He still wondered what happened with Shinra, and why he was hunted, so his trust in companies was thin.
Though, there was still something that he needed before he could do any of this. "So, is there like an inn or something around here? As much as I like camping, I really don't want to live outside. Plus, I could use a decent shower." He had done well in keeping clean using lakes and rivers and such, but a hot shower with actual soap sounded heavenly right now. Also, he wanted a change of clothes. He was done with Shinra, and wanted out of the uniform. Though, he would probably look a little weird with a normal shirt and a giant sword on his back. He would figure something out.
Aerith mentioned it was good to hear those words, and he gave himself a mental pat on the back for that one. It was the truth. The one thing he had wanted to after escaping that basement was to get back to her, to let her know he was alright. Of course, he should have went to see his parents, but he didn't want to put them in danger. He would have went to see them after he had gotten to Midgar, seen Aerith and found out why things had happened the way that they did. In a way, he did make his way to see her. Just, not really in the way he had expected to. Beggars can't be choosers, right?
Zack could feel that she was still crying, but he didn't care. To be honest, he wasn't even sure what all she had gone through since he had left. Was she taken at the same time as he was? He still had no idea how this world worked. For all he knew, this Aerith could be a little older than he thought she was, though he knew she wasn't much older given the way she looked. She was still young and radiant as ever. Though he wasn't sure on his feelings towards her anymore, he was glad he at least had another friend here.
Putting on a cheeky smile, he winked at her. "I do it well though, right?" He knew he had that reputation, but he really didn't care too much. He got what needed to be done, done. It's not like he was actually stupid, he just got confused easily. His brain didn't seem to keep up with his surroundings, so he just went with the flow. He brought smiles to faces of the people he was around, what more could a person want?
Earning himself another chest poke, he chuckled. "Isn't that the point? I don't want you mad at me, but I'll let you be if you need to be." When she said she could make him beg, he shook his head. "No thank you!" It was at that moment he was glad she wasn't a mean person. Her next statement earned a nod from him. "Yes we do. Know of a good place to do so? I don't have a clue where anything is." He was hoping she knew a little more about this world than he did, or else they were in trouble, though they could always just sit by the lake.

WOULD YOU SAY I BECAME A HERO?
Cissnei repeated what she had said about finding a job, and Zack gave a nod. "I'll check that out. Maybe I'll meet some new friends while I'm at it." Being social was never hard for Zack, though actually remembering to go and get the jobs was a totally different story. Though, if he were motivated by money to earn himself a living, maybe he would actually get things done. Only time could tell when it came to this man, but he was determined to remember to go check out the board.
Zack noticed Cissnei was lost in thought, which was expected. There was a lot on her mind, and even though he tried to convince her it wasn't her fault, she still would have to get herself to believe it. To be honest, he was really hoping Cloud wouldn't do the same as well. He could hear it now though, the blonde saying that Zack would have probably survived if he wasn't trying to save him. It was probably true, but the life Zack would have after just leaving Cloud where they had been taken would eat him alive for the rest of his life.
Hearing the waitress clear her throught, Zack's eyes lit up when he saw the food on the plates. Thanking the waitress, he starting picking at the fries a little first before taking a huge bite of the burger. It tasted great and he was glad to have food once again. Before arriving here, it had been some time since he had ate. It was normal for SOLDIERs and Turks to go some time without food, but this time had been way too long. He had about half his food finished when he remembered there was someone else there. "Sorry." Was all he could manage after swallowing his food.
Rolling his eyes at her response, he popped another fry into his mouth. She then actually answered his question and he gave a nod. "Okay, so that answers why you're in this place. My question was, what do you do for a living on this, um, world?" The question is, was she still doing the same as she was before? He wouldn't blame her if she was. Might as well stick to what you do best!

WOULD YOU SAY I BECAME A HERO?
Zack was nervous, and just a little bit scared as well. He may be a trained SOLDIER, but women could be crazy sometimes. There was no way he would blame her for being mad, he would be too. Well, at least upset. The fact that she seemed to be humored by something did not put him at ease. She was going to hit him. He could sense it was coming, and he deserved it. Well, sort of. He didn't have to try to stop Sephiroth. He could have just taken Cloud and left Nibelheim after Sephiroth started the fire. He had to be a hero though...
Oh, she was upset alright. He knew the words his brain finally threw out weren't going to go over well, but when did that ever happen to him? "I, uh-." That was about all he could get out before she started walking towards him and he knew he was in trouble then. The chest poking came, but he couldn't focus on that. She still smelled like her flower garden in the Sector Five church, and it brought back all the memories of their time together. He almost forgot he wasn't there anymore, but her lecture brought him back, and he dropped his head.
Until he heard she thought he had moved on, and his head shot back up. "What? I would never. You meant so much to me!" Wait, did he just say that out loud? Well, it's not like she didn't know, right? There was one last finger jab, and then she was hugging him and crying. He could feel the tears coming to his eyes as well, but he wasn't going to let them go. He wanted to be strong for her, as he was back then. He wrapped his arms around her, and pulled her close, letting her cry into him.
Having her this close was everything Zack needed. He wasn't sure if either of them felt the way they did back then, but the familiar feeling of being close to someone again gave Zack a sense of peace. The last five or so years of his life had been absolute chaos, and he needed this. She started to speak again, and what she said made him chuckle lightly. "Yeah, I don't think a day goes by without someone calling me an idiot. If being mad at me helps you, you can be mad at me all you want." He looked down at her to give her a small smile.

WOULD YOU SAY I BECAME A HERO?
Everyone knew Zack wasn't one for heavy conversations, and this one was probably one of the worst conversations he could ever had. He would have never guessed that he would be sitting here talking about his own death, and to have someone so upset with having a small part in it. When he first started with SOLDIER, he knew death was always a possibility. Being gunned down by an entire Shinra militia though? That was never on his list of things that could happen. Neither was getting stabbed by Sephiroth, or fighting two of his mentors either, so Zack should have known something unknown would happen.
Removing his hand from her leg, he listened to what she was saying. "That's true. Though, I'm glad to have some peace for a moment, even if I don't know what I'm going to do next." Nothing bad could happen in a place where you didn't know anyone or anything, right? As she spoke of the Lifestream, he actually could understand what she was getting at, for the most part. "Yeah, the home part is probably what I should figure out first. Or the job part so I can afford the home." With his skills, he figured finding money could be the easy part.
Watching as she turned away from him, Zack kept quiet. She was a Turk, so of course he knew she didn't want to be seen like this. He didn't care though, she was his friend. This is what friends did. She did her best, but he wouldn't take her help. He didn't want anyone else invovled with whatever was happening. Cloud had already been involved, and now he didn't even know if the blonde was dead, alive, here in whatever land this was. The last thing he wanted was for her to go down too.
Cissnei was doing her best to hold herself together, and Zack gave her a small smile. "None of us knew why it all happened, not even me and I was the target. Shinra did what they wanted, and that's all there is. It's over now. I'm here, and I'm fine." Zack gave her a small smile in hopes that he could lighten the mood just a little bit, as they were starting to get weird looks. Getting the hint, he grabbed her hand and gave it a small squeeze before sitting back where he was. "Yes, like what do you do here?" He also took a drink of his water, definitely curious about what she did.
Zack knew he would have to find work, but wasn't that worried about it. With his training in SOLDIER and the things he was taught to do growing up, he could at least find odd jobs here and there to get him started. First though, he would have to figure out how to get his name out there. There was just going door to door, but he wasn't sure if the people here would like that very much. What if that was illegal too? Not saying he even knew the laws on Gaia, but he was starting to think he should maybe ask people what this new place was all about.
He was about to set out to question the locals when he heard her voice, and for a moment, he was about to answer what he thought was a voice in his head. Taking a deep breath, he turned, and his eyes widened. It was Aerith. Not ghost Aerith, not a voice popping into head, but her. He had waited for this moment for five years, rehearsed in his head what he would say to her. Now that this moment was here, for once in his life, Zack was at a loss for words.
"Aerith." Was all he managed to get out, standing frozen where he was at. The woman he had fallen for, who had wrote him the many letters he had never gotten the chance to read. His thoughts went to the flower cart he never got the chance to fix for her. There were so many things he wanted to say to her, but none of them were coming together to form a complete sentence. Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, but was really only about thirty seconds, Zack pulled himself together.
Taking a few steps towards her, he put a smile on his face and rubbed the back of his head nervously. "Been a while, huh?" Mentally smacking himself for choosing that of all things to say, he dropped his arm to his side. "Look, I'm sorry for the way things go left off with us. I had no intention of leaving you like that. A lot happened, things I'm still not even sure of, but they weren't fun I can tell you that much. You didn't deserve any of that." Oh, word vomit worked out quite nicely, but let's just stop now and let her talk and possibly yell at you, okay Zack?
Zack wasn't sure what to think anymore. This place was way too confusing for him, though let's be honest. That wasn't saying much. This man was the kind of person to roll with the punches, to take whatever life threw at him. All that had happened recently? That was was a whole new ball game. Zack knew Gaia, he knew Shinra and the SOLDIERs. He knew how to make those around him laugh, or want to punch him. He didn't care, he loved it there. Now, he didn't know anyone. Sure, he had ran into Cissnei, but they couldn't stay together forever. She had work to do, and he was left to fend for himself.
Of course, that just meant he would walk around until something caught his eye. Usually, that something wasn't of any importance. Currently, he was trying to sneak up on a cat, because for some reason, he just didn't expect a cat to be here. Apparently a part of him though that this was a new planet. In fact, it was the same as the world he was on, only different scenery. Well, there were probably other differences as well, but he would figure those out later. Right now, he just wanted to catch the damn feline, who had vanished without him even knowing. Were cats secretly Turks? They were sneaky enough anyway.
Heaving a sigh, Zack noticed there were some trees nearby. Leaning up against it, he looked down to the Buster Sword. Having that sword brought different emotions to him. He was happy to have it because his mentor had given it to him, but sad because of the reason Angeal had done so. Zack was also worried to have it because he had given it to Cloud, but Cloud was gone now and he still had it. What happened to the spiky blonde? Was he here somewhere as well? Was Angeal here too? Sighing once more, he looked out over the water, trying to decide what his next move would be.
As she stated there was no use crying over spilled milk, Zack looked at her. He knew it was a saying, but a sad thought pulled at him. "What if it was chocolate milk though?" He did enjoy chocolate milk, so spilling it would be a little upsetting. He did give her a wink at his comment though, to make sure she knew that it was meant to be a joke. There were some days where he would be joking, but people would take him seriously. He figured that meant he was either really good or really bad at them.
Speaking of serious, he watched as she looked down at her hands, the mood suddenly changing. What she said really made sense. "Yeah, that sounds about right. Why here though? If they thought someone needed a second chance, why take them from their own world? That's more like a fresh start to me." The wink from the waitress was not missed by Zack, who gave a sly smile back. Well, at least he still had his charm, and he was proud of that.
Zack almost didn't catch what Cissnei said, but she continued and Zack just listened. So the Turks had come looking for him that day? That wasn't something he expected to hear, but Tseng had a way of surprising people. Noticing that she looked like she was about to cry, Zack left his chair and squatted in front of Cissnei, instantly using his thumbs to wipe what was trying to come out away. "Hey. Don't do that. None of it was your fault, okay?" It really wasn't, but he could see why she thought that.
To be quite fair, he was sure the whole thing wasn't even his fault. He did everything right. He went after Genesis and Angeal like he was told, he tried to get Sephiroth to listen, he was almost killed by the man! Then, to wake up being experimented on by Hojo? But hew was the one on the run and gunned down? No, it was not her fault at all. "You did what you thought was best, you had no way of telling what was going to happen. I could have listened and came with you, but I didn't. I'm more to blame than you are." He rested his left had on her knee to keep steady and left his right on the side of her face.
At her comment about not being able to get rid of him, he gave her a wink along with a cheeky smile. Zack was definitely a person that could get annoying at some point, but most actually enjoyed being around him due to his positivity. He definitey stuck out like a sore thumb compared to the other First Class SOLDIERs, but he enjoyed it being that way. Angeal had done well putting up with him, and Zack always had to be on toes around Genesis, but he hadn't really been around Sephiroth too horribly much until his last few weeks with Shinra.
Shrugging, he turned out the inside of his pockets. "No idea. I woke up here with no money. Come to think of it, I didn't have that much money with me before the Shinra military found me either. Wonder where it went." Of course there was at least four years of his memory missing, so if he really knew, he knew that it had been confiscated. Well, what was on him anyways. There was still some in his SOLDIER barracks. In Midgar. Lots of good that did him here.
His eyes lit up at the sound of job openings. "Oh man, that would be great!" As he listened to her, he rubbed his chin with his fingers, as if he was in deep thought. "Further their own end? Wait, so we were brought here to die again?" Well that would be dumb, and Zack knew a lot about dumb ideas. They took a seat and Cissnei ordered. "Same drink for me, and can a get a bacon cheeseburger with some fries?" He didn't want to be too much trouble.
When she asked what he knew about this world, he looked around. "I've seen a little park, the place I met you, and now here. Those are the only places I've been." Looking back at the Buster Sword behind up leaning against the wall, he sighed. "I remember giving that to Cloud, and then I was staring up at a different sky. I found a palm tree, then walked over here and found you! That's it." Well, now he really sounded insane.
