Thinking of you, wherever you are I've returned from memories past, reborn from times past
⚡
It felt strange but nostalgic to have her head pat, causing Claire to mellow a bit. She thought of their Mom briefly but kept it to herself, merely smiling instead. "Curative magic, please teach me, Serah~ If you know any other supportive spells, I'd like to learn those too!" the possibility of learning a spell to disarm, as well as arm treasure chests came to mind. Only making her more excited, which meant the denizens of Provo were about to face another storm.
When dubbed witch, Claire giggled before smirking; "Lightning Witch Claire today, Grand Mage Claire in the future~" Serah was right, magic was so grand, flashy, and exciting that her sister was invested in it. The trick wasn't so much the youthful hope that magic brought but that she was keenly aware that it was the best way to defend herself for now. Sure, Claire had seen what her future self matured into but... she didn't have that physique today. Nor, if she was being quite honest, did Claire event want such. Cool as her future self looked, she was lacking the second part of the equation; beauty.
Not that she blamed her future self, it was smart to cut back on excessive spending, so of course the clothes and the hair care were the first to go. Likely, she'd just put that money into make sure they had a roof over their head, food to eat and... Serah's university tuition. She'd make those sacrifices again too, given how her sister turned out. Fortunately, in Zephon, she didn't have to. Being here was truly freedom, with so much to do and see.
"Oh, did future me already test Snow? Honestly, the test I have in mind is pretty simple... I hope I didn't go overboard..." Claire sighed, she could imagine that, with enough time; if she felt a liiittle proud of Serah now, then what did her future self think? The one who got to see Serah become the woman she was now. She wagered that she'd be very protective and a bit meddlesome. This caused her to laugh nervously, a bead of sweat dripping down her temple.
"Well, I'm sure he's fine but it kind of sounds like you fell in love with a version of our Dad. A muscle head version I wager but the way you look when you talk about Snow, mmm... It reminds me of how Mom looked. In that way, I'm kind of jealous of you now too~ The guys aren't interested in me, I um... scare them off, supposedly..." she coughed to clear her throat, before looking away. It's not as if she'd ever shared much about her school life. Claire had largely kept that separate, in a compartment of her mind that was reserved for when she was away from her family.
Much to Claire's delight then, Serah agreed to teach her how to cook. Well, how to cook as well as she did. In Claire's mind, when it came to cooking, Serah was a genius and if she didn't want to teach, she'd have endorsed Serah opening a restaurant. Besides, she didn't need to know Serah's secrets, she could save that for Snow. "Really, I just want to be good enough to make a good impression. Being able to make your own chocolate and other baked goods..." Claire caught herself part way, covering her mouth as she blushed.
Sure, such charms were part of a woman's romance but this was her little, BIG sister. The conflict in her eyes was evident, the part where of course Claire was a normal teen girl, who couldn't talk about that stuff with her kid sister or Mother. Yet, her sister wasn't a kid and in fact had a fiancé. So then... she could have girl talk? Ah but that was too embarrassing right now!
"...Aha, well you know how much I love sweets...ahaha..." she doubted Serah was going to buy that excuse now, even though she really did like sweets.
Well, shifting subjects, Claire was surprised that Serah had been in this world for a year already. Her eyes widened as she became quite attentive. "Mmm, Mr. Caius thinks that, because I'm an Outlander, the University might make an exception. Therefore, I'm going to study really hard." Claire began, before her expression softened from her excited resolve briefly.
"...I didn't expect I'd get to go to a University at all. Having the chance now... I'm glad. I guess I was just pinning some of my dreams on you, even if I didn't tell you~"
Not that Claire dwelt on that revelation for long. Serah had dangled something interesting before her. "I can't wait to meet Lumina and Zell. Tell me, what's Zell like then? He's got to be a pretty reliable, if not strong guy, like Mr. Caius, right? After all, given what you've told me of Lumina, a successful woman needs a reliable partner. Someone kind, as well as brave; to remind you of the simple things and encourage you to persevere when things get tough." little did Claire realize she was becoming an accessory in Serah's schemes. So long as Claire confirmed certain aspects, it was practically like sealing Lumina's fate.
For now, Claire had her own problems. Namely the more she heard of her future self, the more she felt uneasy. "I guess I failed at being a cool beauty then. There might be guys who like such a person but... I haven't met them yet. That type likely appeals more to someone younger, honestly." Claire looked down for a moment but then shrugged. "I'll try not to bakrupt you then but I can't promise~ Cheer up though, Serah. You'll be back in the black once I sell a few. Especially if you're able to hunt down good monsters for material. Did I teach you that too? Mmm, Monsters have different weaknesses and resistances after all. Stylish and functional is a winner." she'd reassure Serah, even though she had a devious smile on her face. One that was trying oh so hard to be innocent and sweet instead.
"Hmm? Why wouldn't we do stuff together? So long as you're not off with your b-o-y-f-r-i-e-n-d, I don't see a problem?"

Claire could see why even Caius was confused, it seemed for Outlanders like themselves, there was a grand mystery, dare she say, conspiracy; about their arrival. Given Caius had been here for awhile, his theory didn't have many holes but there was only anecdotal evidence. Part of her wanted to be cynical, to think the worse so as to prevent disappointment. Things were rarely as they seemed, she'd learned that from an early age. What stopped Claire, was the smile Caius maintained throughout.
Her visage shifted into something pensive, before settling on optimism. "To tell you the truth, I'm a habitual worrier." Claire rubbed the back of her head, feeling embarrassed. "Still, I believe you. There's a lot of hope in what you say. If this older Serah is just from a different point in time, then it'll be a great relief for me. I wasn't sure how I was going to pull off taking care of the two of us, especially in a new world. I'll be happy if she's grown up to be an amazing woman." she smiled bashfully, before looking to the door of the cabin.
Turning about she decided being outside of it was the best for now. Letting in strangers was something her Mom had instructed her not to do after all. "Besides, this world sounds...incredible. I want to see it all and if we're stuck here, then we're stuck, no sense worrying about it." not that she seemed worried, though closer inspection revealed she wasn't merely hiding her emotions either. How could she suppress the bubbling excitement and awe? Her eyes had the glint of adventure in them, as well as a bit of mischief.
"Magic is really exciting, I can't stop at the Thunder spells that Mog taught me. Speaking of, I wonder where he went. It's my fault for ditching, er I mean, splitting up. I'd wanted to scan the perimeter around the cabin. I'm sure he'll find me before Serah gets here, so long as I stay put." Claire let out a nervous giggle, more so for Mog's sake. If Serah found out that he let a kid get the better of him. Judging from how she sounded earlier, Mog was probably doomed! Fortunately, she wasn't going to let her partner in crime meet such a terrible end. Covering for him was the least she could do.
"Setting aside the University for a moment, this world has Chocobos too!?" she had to stop herself from spinning about in delight. After all, she wasn't twelve anymore! (Though, likely, once Caius left, she'd probably run and jump about) Instead, she tried feigning being more mature by taking a seat and intertwining her fingers within her lap, albeit tightly. "I have to ride on one. At least once..." nevermind taking Serah to see one, the goal was to participate at some point. Tapping her feet for a bit, she began to ponder what else to ask about. At this point, her inquiries were largely for her own amusement, instead of logical.
"So, how do people dress in this world? Does it vary by region? Are they all old-timey~?" so much for her front of maturity, the real Claire was leaking out faster than a faucet. "I've always liked traditional fashion. With the right materials, I could make outfits... It might be challenging without a sewing machine but if I account for the complexity of designs..." there was a palpable energy about Claire now, as if sparks could go flying at any moment.

"I just pictured it..." Claire immediately replied, only to visibly shudder as she wrapped her arms around herself. Not that she could blame people for booby trapping their chests. After all, chests weren't so easily made unlike treasure spheres. That'd be her loss until she could use the right magic to protect herself. Though that took a bit of wind out of her mischievous sails.
Well, she could set that aside and learn a bit more about Snow. True enough, her sharp eyes caught that frown. It seemed Serah hadn't considered the possibility of her fiance being a different version. Fortunately for Claire, she'd had this discussion with Mr. Caius already. In that way, seeing her little BIG sis frown like that, was more like the kid sister she knew. Ah but there was one thing distinctively different. Serah called Snow her Hero. Naturally, this caused Claire to raise her left eyebrow but she didn't interrupt the heartfelt explanation.
"I have to admit, I'm kind of jealous. To think you'd find someone other than your big sister to be your hero..." she paused for dramatic effect. "...it makes me loathe to give you up. After all, future me, is future me. The only Claire that matters, is the one present~" she continued with a confident smirk.
"If he's truly that heroic and it's the same Snow as our world version, albeit from your timeline, instead of mines, then I'll be sure to test his worthiness!" her smirk widened just a bit, waiting to see Serah's response to this ploy. Big as she was now, if she knew her sister, this was sure to get something out of her. Plus, it turned out that her little sister had become a teacher. Claire blinked, then leaned in closer to stare in awe. "You really have become everything I wanted for you. I think I can accept having a shabby hair style and no fashion sense..." she declared before taking the time to enjoy her food once served.
She'd never imagine Serah being the one to teach her stuff. This really was the perfect opportunity... "Actually, if you're going to teach me anything, I'd like for you to teach me how you cook so well!" given Serah was always better at her in this regard, Claire had to take advantage of this. It was said that the key to a man's heart was their stomach, Claire had no doubt that must have impacted Snow. Not that she had any targets or such in mind. It was just a handy skill, especially to make good first impressions. New kids always had something to prove, no one would expect to suddenly be treated to some sweets.
Based on Claire's current assessment, having a teacher's help would make her new school life easier. "I'm in your care, Serah. With you by my side, I'm sure we'll find the perfect school. Ah but just in case, I thought I'd get some suggestions from a seasoned veteran. Mr. Caius has been in this world for two to three years now. Have you been here that long too? I mean, you know someone that's like an adventurer." for a moment, her eyes after looking at the keys in awe, now looked down to her open palm where Serah placed the keys in question.
"This... Lumina, Brilliant Light, Great Light... That's a really pretty name. Ahem, she must be really successful and kind to offer her home. I wouldn't want to turn down her kindness, especially as I'd like to meet her sometime. Ah but you said there's two leaders, so is the second you or... does she have a partner?" there was so much Claire wanted to ask right now. An honest to goodness Adventurer?! One who Serah was working with!? What sort of awesome adventures was her sister having in this world, anyway?
She'd nearly forgotten that Serah offered to help with the thank you gift. Ah, that wouldn't do, she'd settle her wild imagination a bit and ground herself in practical. "Mr. Caius told me about some of the other territories on Zephon. It's fine if this gift takes some time, it'll be something we can do together. I'm guessing this world doesn't have sowing machines, so I'll have to do a bit of the embroidery manually. Since I didn't want to trouble Mother, I learned how to do that as some of the many chores I did. Imagining the cost of constantly replacing my dresses..." Claire rapidly shook her head.
"Actually, so long as we can get the materials, I could probably make my own outfits." Claire was practically glowing, with a consistent shimmer in her eyes. The look of a fun challenge that enthralled her, despite cupping her chin with her right hand. There was a kind of energy in the air about her, though it wasn't the fowl thunder clouds that plagued Lightning at least.

Claire exhaled a sigh of relief, before flashing a friendly smile that was wider than the last. She skipped about, leading him back to the cabin and upon his inquiry about her name; Claire spun on the ball of her feet and began to walk backwards for a moment. "Ah... I'm sorry, where are my manners. I might have left them back home, just a moment." taking a moment to clear her throat, she gestured to herself using her right hand.
"My name is Claire, Claire Farron. Nice to meet you, Caius and thanks for accompanying me." Claire announced calmly, trying to be as mature and respectful as she could. Even with her growing enthusiasm, as well as appreciation for the Dragonblade. Once she was done, she spun around and walked by Caius side. Bit by bit, she felt she could lower her guard and try to relax. What mattered, now that she felt safe; was getting information and Caius provided plenty. Given he started with a geography lesson, Claire nodded along in acknowledgement. She reckoned Serah was likely in Provo City proper thus she gazed in the direction as they walked away from the main road.
Knowing where they were, that of Zephon, as well as other notable territories made her feel a bit giddy. For the possibility of exploring those places could be on the table in the near future! For the moment, she need only listen and try to absorb the information shared. Getting to understand how this world worked, in terms of its selection; was valuable intel. It certainly got her thinking about Serah. Her sister was older in this world, so then... was she from the same world variant or perhaps a different one? She couldn't help but inquire, along with another thought bothering her.
"So then...it's possible that the Serah here, is a different world variant from my own? I mean... she's older from what little I heard. Yet, I only know my little sister, she's twelve currently. I'm a bit worried for her, if she is indeed back home still. My Mother was the last person I saw and the words she told me, didn't feel like there was much time left..." biting her bottom lip for a moment, she tried to hold back the surge of emotions. There was something bittersweet about having the memory of her Mother's embrace be the last she saw of her world. Given that Caius said he'd been in this new world for two to three years, there wasn't any "going back" anytime soon.
What prevented a complete freak out then, was that, there was a Serah that was older here, meaning she succeeded in raising her little Sister when the time came, surely. So, all she needed to do was wait for that little, BIG sister and see just how well she turned out. It was so simple, that hope filled her heart instead. There was no need to panic at all, it was better to pave the way forward for a good life here. Thus as the Cabin loomed up the gentle slope in the woods, she looked to Caius for a different inquiry.
"If one were to go to school in this world, preferably to learn magic, I guess, then... which of those territories should I go to?" part of not being a burden, was having a relatively safe establishment to attend. If she was going to school, then Serah wouldn't have to worry. More than that, she could get a fresh start compared to her previous school life. There hadn't been time to attend clubs or spend too much time with friends after school. Heading home early meant getting chores done for her Mom, as well as watching Serah.
"Also, what's life in Provo like? I want to know all the exciting places to visit, the best places to eat, specialty foods, you name it~" having some knowledge that she could use to surprise Serah with later, was nice. That way, Serah would know she could rely on her and not worry too much. She'd never been a big sister before, the stress would surely impact her. So, just like with their Mom, she'd help Serah where she could. As that's what big LITTLE sisters were for!

"Does this world have honest to goodness treasure chests? Not the treasure spheres we had back home...?" Claire looked pretty excited by that, as she loved messing around with people's spheres. They were the perfect vehicle for a prank or two. Not that she was a thief, oh no. She just liked to leave surprises in them ontop of the items already placed. Thus, the glint of mischief was clearly in her eyes. This excitement and earnest enthusiasm faded when Serah spoke up about being marked.
That was a harrowing thought, something she could never prepare for, even with the best laid plans. An absolute, worst case scenario, a nightmare... it made her quiet but tense. As Serah continued, she mentioned the journey her future self took. It sounded like something she would do. Perhaps her future self wasn't so different in that regard. In the end, it Serah had reassured Claire of what mattered. Thus Claire smiled, rather widely at that. Full of relief, she stood up straight now and inhaled deeply.
"I feel much better after hearing that. It sounds like you've got a pretty good fiance, too. I mean, if he went through such a harrowing ordeal to save you. It's...really romantic and best of all, it sounds like you've gotten everything I wanted for you. I'm so happy, I've got no regrets on this front. In fact, I hope I get to meet your fiance sometime, ah... preferably the erm, one from your time." she could only hope that most Offworlders were at least their most future selves upon arrival. It'd be a bit too painful if they were plucked from their lives the way she was. Then again, even a few years to...perhaps a decade, could make a difference too.
"Ah, maybe it's selfish to want to see him here. It would mean plucking him from our world, in your time..." well she wouldn't worry too much, seeing her sister spin about. It looked oh so familiar, even Mog was doing it and thus even though she playfully rolled her eyes, she had a faint smile.
Once she'd made her peace, Serah replied in kind and Claire gasped in turn. Her sister was...pretty perceptive, when it came to reading her intentions. There was this look on Claire's face, that screamed "How did you know?!" in such a youthful affair. It forced Claire to cross her arms and look to the side.
Serah did seem to take her selfish request well, really well even. To the point she thought Claire was being silly. It did make her curious, even if she was embarrassed. "Mom's words are still the last thing I remember. I was being held in her arms before I got here. It is true that I did think that I couldn't let you take some of the burden. That's because... you're very talented, Serah. It'd be a crime to let your academic talents go to waste. I only had to hold it down until you got through High School, that's what was on my mind. Then it'd be fine to work together more, as equal adults. I'm not surprised I took it too far though, I could see the results, thanks to Mog." she confessed before concluding, "I'll follow her last words, her will." she looked down, closing her eyes for a moment as she resolved herself.
"Ah but don't worry too much about being the older one now, Serah~ Mom never had to worry because she had me around. I'm quite capable, yep! Besides, I think I'd like to go to school in this world and continue learning magic. Seems like I might have an affinity for Thunder spells, that's so cool~" yes, in her own way she wanted to reassure Serah that everything would be fine. There was an air of confidence that was familiar.
The walk to the cabin thus, was quite peaceful, for it seemed Claire had a huge weight lifted off her shoulders. Now, she looked around with wider eyes and much more enthusiasm. Once Serah got everything together and prepared their family dinner, she'd have to concur with Mog. "Mmm, I haven't eaten at all yet, so I'm excited too." Claire began after Mog spoke up.
"Not that there was time to worry about my stomach. Mr. Caius had this Gunblade, it kind of looked like the one the future me had but more...advanced, maybe? He was so fast, like woosh~ He told me that he was a part of the Dragonblades Mercenary Guild. I can't believe there's honest to goodness guilds in this world. I hope there's an Adventurer's Guild, once I've mastered magic I'd definitely join up with one. Adventurer's get paid to help people and they get to leave the towns or cities they're stationed in. That's better than being a mercenary or a soldier."
Claire was largely swept away with the wonders and intrigue of Zephon. With such a zeal to live life, it'd be difficult to keep her grounded. Especially as she was so much more animated now. "Since the Dragonblades are in Provo, I'd like to make him something as thanks. Since you're really good at cooking Serah, could I get your help, please? It's just... even though Mr. Caius is really strong, I can't help but think of him like a lost puppy somehow. Maybe I can make him one of those shirts he mentioned too." she giggled at the thought, thinking he'd be really shocked to receive such a gift.

Mog was quite the smooth operator, slipping out of the conversation in a cool fashion. At least he had the means to amuse himself, which in turn, kept Claire's spirits up too. Having her sister thank her, while weird given her perspective, Claire understood. That understanding, was thanks to Mog, as well as Caius. Inferring anything else based on their exchange was simple enough. Even if Mog didn't speak up with the truth, she knew that she didn't keep to Mom's wishes. Thus, she had an embarrassed, yet somber smile upon her lips. "I am fifteen, it's still a bit surreal. Last I saw you, I was trying to get you not to run so much." there was a faint giggle before she shook her head.
As for being an amazing older sister, she didn't seem too convinced. It lacked qualification, as Claire could see certain aspects that would merit such praise. On the other hand, there were definitely lacking areas in her opinion too. Thus, she wanted to avoid a repeat of what happened to Caius, especially considering how much older Serah was! Of course she'd have memories that Claire knew nothing about, good as well as bad. The best solution was to set the record straight and talk about it...
Well, that plan would have to wait. Serah seemed to know Caius, her reaction...wasn't good, which puzzled Claire. Furrowing her brows for a moment upon mention of the last name 'Ballad', she became contemplative. "He didn't give me a last name, actually."
"I really don't think you have much to worry about, Serah. Mr. Caius is a really good man. Sure, he might be a mercenary now, playing at being a hero by working for free. Maybe native denizens of this world really helped him out? Being an Offworlder seems way harder than being a guardian." Claire admitted with a sigh.
"I felt really bad for him. He had met someone he'd known before coming here but due to the way time works, the person he reunited with... didn't even know him. That's why I feel it's important that we be honest with each other, even if it might hurt a little. I'll go first." she stated before resting her left hand on her hip and raising her right index finger.
"Mog has already shown me what the future me looks like. It was nice to see that I looked cool but...I barely recognized myself. I can only guess that's because I didn't honour Mom's wishes after all. I didn't have the intention to if I'm being honest. I didn't want you to lose your childhood, I made you a promise when Dad died after all." confessing like this, made Claire feel better, as she wanted to keep an open mind.
"I can only guess that I went too far, not taking the time to take care of myself. Not having Mom around, even if it was something as simple as her combing my hair out just right. It really did make a difference and even though I ended up looking like Mom, there was none of her charm, nothing inviting about me. So, I'm...sorry, Serah. The future me that you know, that...isn't the me standing here at least. I don't intend to be a burden to you but I'd like to hang onto my childhood, since I can. This world seems fun, let's make the most of it and maybe, we can leave it better than we found it."

Caius had revealed many truths as he spoke, scarcely masking his strength of character. In the end, his banter raised Claire's spirits tremendously. She had a faint smile at first but by the time his speech concluded, she was beaming at him. "So, Mr. Caius, this really is a different world, huh? Incredible..." Claire was in awe but it made her excited, for destiny had changed completely.
"Honestly, I'm a little nervous, meeting a sister who is older than I am. I'm sure you're right at least... I just need to mentally prepare myself." so she began to pace a bit, only for such to be short lived when she turned her attention to Caius. "So... since you're not officially on patrol, would it be alright if I borrowed you for awhile? From what I remember in the morning, my sister should be on her way back to the Cabin. Could you... stay with me, just for a little while?" given Caius had thought her bold, going this far was just a natural, logical step, surely? No, she wasn't trying to cover up her own loneliness for the moment. Seeing how she'd been separated from Mog as it were...
"The best way to not be a burden, is to have some basic information. There's so much I want to ask you! Such as, the name of this world, the name of the city close by. How long you've been in this world, how many Offworlders you've met so far, and more." hopefully that seemed smooth and mature, as opposed to eager and desperate. Well, given she was lowering her guard; it wasn't a surprise that she was more eccentric now. Especially as she felt quite safe with Caius around.
"By the way, did you... forgive your King? I can only imagine how hard it was for you to see someone different but... That person, he's still your King, right? Just like... Serah, is still my sister, no matter her age." Claire had imagined herself in the shoes of Caius' King, while Serah was in Caius' shoes. Keeping an open mind would help but she felt that depending on the age gap, it might be best to make a distinction between herself as she was presently. Versus the future Claire Farron that her sister knew, though she hoped her future self had been good to her sister.

There was quite a bit of time for Claire's training. Talented as her future self was, this was still her first time and she was only fifteen too. There was also the matter of being separated for a bit while being out here, though that was a story for another time, as what mattered was Claire was roughly where she should be. Not too far from the cabin, with no Bombs in sight! When she finally unleashed the Thunder spell, a current of blue electricity rapidly coursed through her body. In turn, Thunder came dowm from the sky and struck a nearby tree; singing it to the trunk. Claire's eyes widened in surprise, before a delighted expression graced her visage. "I did it, Mog..." she called out, though she was a bit drained. It took a long time to focus on that energy within, longer still to centre herself.
With Mog's congratulations, she noted he called her rival, which caused her to tilt her head to the right. A brief thought but she leaned forward, awaiting his words with baited breath. Snow was Serah's---fiancé? That last part didn't come from Mog, so she turned in the direction of the voice. There was an older woman there, with familiar pink hair, tied in a familiar hair style to her own. Claire listened quite intently, studying her. Sparing a brief look when Mog chose to cower behind her, in the end she resumed her focus upon...Serah. There was a mix of disbelief, as well as awe. The former dispersed quick enough, the later remained for quite some time.
"Pretty." was Claire's first word to Serah, the teen's expression softened and relief washed over her slow and steady. Serah was older true enough but she looked great, her future self hadn't failed in this regard. That made her happy, loosening her guard bit by bit, she closed the last bit of distance. Then hugged Serah slowly, "I'm really happy you turned out so well!" she began. "Before I got here, I was at the hospital, talking with Mother, she had embraced me tightly while instructing me on what to do in the future. When I opened my eyes... I was in the cabin."
Claire hadn't even gotten to speak with the doctors after, as her story went. Still, she knew that said discussion, on that level; was likely their last as Mother and daughter. Not having time to prepare at all, she'd been whisked here and forced to think on her feet. Only, it didn't seem like she had to do much at all. Mog was there for one but it was clear they weren't expecting this version of her.
"So...how old are you right now, Serah?" Claire asked after some time had passed. She was trying to handle all this change best as she could. Given she had a fiancé, she reckoned that her sister was probably graduated from university right now. That would excuse her future self's sacrifices quite nicely if so. Though she wasn't sure what she would do in the present, well...besides eat. Claire was getting hungry, "Mmm, I think a good stew would be nice. Since we've got a cabin out in the woods to ourselves." Claire's decision was a simple one, to not put much burden on her sister.
"Oh and when we're done, I'd like to see the city here. Mr. Caius mentioned it was recovering after a recent disaster. I hope the people are doing better. The farmlands seem to be fine at least." given the prevalent scents not far from their little cabin in the woods. Claire was in a good mood at least. Perhaps because she'd finally been able to use her first spell. Perhaps because all her worries were put to rest. Now she was just her bubbly self, wanting to run about and see as much of this new world as possible.

Ah, the Moogle did look quite huggable in truth. With Mog in her arms briefly, her suspicions were validated. In turn she hugged him but not too tight. With Mog by her side, she felt reassured now, which meant she could take things slowly. First, she'd learn about her older self, for it wasn't everyday one could get an understanding of their future. Mog was quite good at upselling the woman she became, leaving Claire speechless. Her eyes were wide, as she tried to imagine herself being a one woman army. She could only imagine what her male peers would think, which made her smirk a bit. She'd let Mog do his thing, revealing how she'd look so that she could inspect her future self with discerning eyes.
At first, Claire was surprised, even mildly excited! Certainly, she could understand how she became strong but eventually, Claire found herself frowning. She really let herself go, which caused her to cross her arms and mutter softly, "...what a waste..." In the end, she sighed but Mog seemed to provide much needed commentary. Going all in to protect Serah, admittedly that was her plan, something she had been psyching herself up for. The woman she saw, was the result of her decision and more importantly, it didn't seem like she took her Mother's advice much. Had she relied on Serah even a little, she'd still have some time for herself.
"I really went low maintenance, without Mother around. I do look like her though, only more tough looking." Claire's self assessment would conclude eventually, though her tone was sad. Not that the somber atmosphere lasted for long, for Mog mentioned a name. Snow? To which she looked confused and thus shook her head. She didn't remember or truthfully, she didn't know who such a person was. "The basics, it is important to have a good foundation. Something my older self seems lacking..." she confessed before putting her critique aside, in lieu of doing something different.
"Lightning magic, huh? It sounds...fierce. A power that wouldn't let anyone get close, strong, as well as fast. Very no nonsense." she cupped her chin with her right hand for a moment before her hand moved to her side. "Please teach me then, Mog. I'm in your care. Ah but while we do, who is this man my sister has in her life? Well, I understand he's not here right now but... it's just hard to imagine. The Serah in my memories; is much too busy trying to explore every nook and cranny she can get herself into. Always running about, giggling and smiling. She's quite good with her studies too. I'd have liked for her to go University, becoming a soldier would have allowed for that I guess." while she could piece together some aspects of her life, based on what was shown and mentioned...
This Snow, who was important to Serah, remained quite the mystery. Claire reckoned it was someone met later on. Though was his name really Snow?It sounded cool but a bit weird, goofy even... Not at all the kind of guy she figured Serah would eventually gravitate towards. A smart girl like Serah, she suspected would find a mature, responsible man. One that was good with children, with a gentle nature. Claire could imagine that, though she'd hope he was responsible and had his life organized. Claire wouldn't allow a bum for her sister, it'd just be a waste of her potential! Though such thoughts were cursory and it felt like it should be years and years away, too!
Ah...but Serah was an adult, so even if Serah was twelve in her mind, in reality... Well, Claire would have to readjust her thoughts and expectations. Prepare for a different possibility, an inevitability that she'd not expected. An adult Serah would be the one taking care of her, in fact she'd been doing so already, indirectly through Mog. Well, Serah was taking care of an adult version of her. The thought was so absurd but it would do her no good to be inflexible. Instead, she would try to keep an open mind but pine to see a normal, younger Serah.

Claire had a brief bit of contemplation at the mention of trading places. It seemed surreal but everything about this place, including her circumstances, felt as such. Honestly, though she didn't want to doubt the moogle, it was just so hard to believe! So, she was suppressing the idea into the back of her mind. Clinging onto hope that the Serah coming back, was her twelve year old sister. Complete with a toothy smile and a basket of herbs and other simple medical supplies. Mostly, she imagined her coming back with a lot of good food. It made her smile, faintly; caught up in the memory of what should be the past... yet it really was only yesterday. Alas, her thoughts were interrupted by Mog's description, which caught her to stare in surprise. Only to blush at the mention of her chest, before she unconsciously covered said chest and looked away. "Badass...? Me? Sure, it sounds exciting but... It doesn't feel like me." she admitted, with a confused smile, that ultimately turned into a frown.
Admittedly, the Moogle stories did interest her but things were just too overwhelming for her to roll over and be a good... little sister. So, while it seemed she was inadvertently going to string along Mog, she was interested in the advice given. Magic could be very useful, she could imagine having some good fun with it. Magic could also be used to help people, in case money was needed. A much more academic means of handling things instead of brute strength and labour. Lastly, Mog mentioned being able to become a weapon and that prompted a visible reaction. It started with Claire's eyes widened in awe, then he received a rare smile from her. A genuine, kind one but it soon turned into a devious smirk.
"Well now, guess you're my hero." she began, before holding her arms out to welcome Mog into them for a hug. "Don't worry, I won't go too far. I intend to wait here for Serah, really." she tried to reassure Mog, the way she figured Serah might for him if things were reversed. If she knew her sister, she'd likely still want to do something, instead of sitting around doing nothing. In Serah's case, she'd want to explore just a bit, to forage. Since Serah was better at something like that, Claire opted to do a light patrol. Make sure the Cabin was in a safe spot, mostly out of sight. In the event there were potential roads leading to civilization, it'd be good to note for the long term.
Mostly, in case she needed help, as opposed to if her and her sister, as a team, needed such. The words of their Mother were ringing constantly in her mind right now. Thus, if Mog did come into her arms, she'd give him a gentle squeeze. Fortunately, before she could get swept up in the emotions that she last recollected... Mog distracted her with something fascinating.
"I... have a gunblade? Ah, the adult me, that is..." she tried to acknowledge this outloud.
"...That's...cool." she admitted before continuing, "...I'm not thrilled with the idea that I let myself go. Having more unruly hair? I guess...without Mother around to tame my hair, that could happen. She just had the magic touch." Claire spoke softly before looking around properly. Claire was tempted to go towards the farms, despite the scents coming from that direction. Farms meant farmers and farm hands, which meant life. Someone else to speak to besides Mog, alas... What would an older Serah say if she went off to speak with strangers? What if she turned out to be like their Mother, somehow? The thought of disappointing such a Serah, brought on an audible gulp.
Turning on her heel a bit, she'd proceed in the opposite direction for now, heading out to a small clearing towards the back side of the Cabin. Surely, they'd be safe there and now she could get some needed intel from Mog. "So... show me the damage." Claire began, "I want to see what kind of woman I became..." of course, she was pretty nervous about it. Claire had an idea of what might be needed, assuming she had to raise Serah going forward. She'd been trying to mentally prepare herself, though she was also selfish. Wishing and dreaming that their Mother would at least make it to see her graduate High School. Things were getting interesting at school admittedly.
"Then, I'd like to learn some magic, please. It'd be fun and I could surprise Serah a bit. If she's an adult, she probably doesn't remember what this me is like, right~?"Mischief was twinkling within her eyes, as was the coy grin that passed for an 'innocent smile'.
