Warmth interlaced with sadness, as a fleeting moment etched deep within Claire's heart. Tomorrow would be different, when she opened her eyes, it would be different. She'd have to bid farewell to her childhood. So she could be strong, what would Serah do if she saw her big sister cry? The tears she felt streaming down her cheeks, these were for Mother only. Slowly, she'd opened her eyes, blinking as the evening light from the hospital room window shone forth. "It's so bright..." Except, it was too bright, causing Claire to rub her eyes frantically. Her vision was blurry but she could make out a few things. Dark walls seemed rather quaint, the window wasn't so high up and Claire wasn't standing hunched over a bed. "W-what's...going on?" had she fallen asleep in her Mother's arms? It'd be just like her Mother to pull her into that hospital bed.
Only, her mother wasn't beside her, nor was Serah hovering near the bed, likely standing atop some chair or another. "What's...going on?" tilting her head from side to side, it was clear she was in a bed, alone. No wait, not quite alone, a white creature was coming into view as she stirred. A Moogle. "Did I faint? Where am I? Where's my Mother? Where's Serah?" the rest of her sensory inputs soon triggered. This didn't smell anything like a hospital. The air was too fresh, with a hint of farm scents laced with oak? Grass? "The walls, is that...wood? Am I in a cabin?"
Claire was trying not to panic. Eyebrows scrunched, her sea blue irises scanned the room frantically. It seemed like this heroine had been freshly summoned. "I... I'm sure I was in a hospital room but..." Claire could scarcely remember much, particularly what her day had been like prior to the visit. She was beginning to wonder if she fell, hit her head and was in a dream. Only the sheets felt pretty real and rather cozy. The Moogle at her bedside, well she assumed it was her bedside, seemed pretty real too. So, she'd try to sit up, slowly and to her surprise, she did so effortlessly. That would likely make poor Mog confused, the patient was completely recovered and younger too.

Their was no way Mog was going to be able to explain this to Serah. Their was no way Serah woudnt blame him for whatever was going on here.
Had the Historia Crux gone out of whack? Had Lightining been hit with some stray spell when he wasnt looking? No if it was magic she woudnt be so confused. Well unless a confuse spell was wrapped in? ....his head was starting to hurt.
Wait wasnt Serah and Lightining's mother dead? Why was she asking where she was. She... would know that woudnt she? Unless...
She was younger now, had her memories reverted somehow? was the crux simply pranking her and popping out new versions of his friends older sister?
He didnt get played enough for this kupo...
Wait... he hadnt been payed in....!
Ok ok, not the time, had to find a way to calm down younger Light.. somehow.
"Kupo! I'm Mog, Serah ummm hmmm.. went out for a bit, she should be back... later? Kupo"
Mog was trying to be careful, if Light had regressed mentally him saying "oh she went off with you" would ether have Lighting thinkong he was crazy, or have her rush off to try and save Serah from what she would surely assume to be a stranger dressed as her. Or both.
...probaly both, ow. She was fully recovered to... Kupo, he could never catch a break.
"Your in a cabin kupo! Well... you were in an accident so you might not remebr fully right now, you've been recovering and Serah has been taking care of you, with my help of course Kupo!"
....Serah was going to freak out when she saw this. How was he POSSIBLY going to explain that it wasnt his fault? One second he was bringing Light her daily meal, the next her age was cut in like... half and she didnt even seem to recognize him!
to be honest the first thing he wanted to do was shout out his surprise. But he was a practiced moogle and knew thia would liley lead down the long road of him becoming a a pincushion by one of the Farron sisters, for different reasons .
"So, your really feeling recovered kup?""
...Oh Serah was going to make Mog meat out of him...

Now this moogle had really done it, for Claire wasn't thinking of a Serah that was an adult. The idea of a little girl her age going off on her own...! Worse, her cute, precious, little sister; was the one who was taking care of her!? Well, she seemed to give a straight dead pan to the fluffy creature. The moogle did seem reliable, so if her little sister had help from it, sure. That begged more questions, to which her right eyebrow raised. Mog as he'd introduced himself, said that she was in an accident. Well, that would make some sense...in theory. After all, she was meeting their Mother, embraced by her and perhaps the emotional stress from the pending responsibility knocked her out?
"I might have taken a real fall after... I'm so sorry, way to screw up before day one." Claire proceeded to rub the back of her head, checking for lumps or anything. Quite frankly, she had a clean bill of health, making it harder to belief Mog. Though judging by his tone and demeanour, which her eyes narrowed in scrutiny. Mog... wasn't lying and Claire prided herself on being an excellent judge of character!
So, while she understood that this was a cabin and allegedly, she was in an accident. Where this cabin was, remained a mystery. As was Serah's whereabouts. Right, that was enough to get into action--- Wait, she needed to gather up some more information first. "I'm feeling fine, yes." she admitted but then she faintly smiled, her expression softening a bit. "Really, I couldn't be healthier. It's Mom I'm worried about now." she'd admit, trying to be brave before closing her eyes.
"Mom said to rely on Serah and if she went to do something, I'm sure you wouldn't have let her go alone, unless it was safe. Right, Mog?" she gave him a mischievous, faux stern look. "Maybe she went to get some food, she's probably not far. The safest thing to do right now, is to wait for her. Have a little faith, not that I have a choice." with that Claire slowly eased out of bed. She was a bit wobbly, not unlike a newborn deer. Though Mog would see that despite this, she was as healthy as she claimed.
"Thanks, Mog." she'd admit before walking about slowly. Once she felt she had her footing, she crossed her arms and decided to gather as much information as possible. "So, where are we, exactly?" that was the first proper question. "How long was I out?" not that it'd relieve her much but some truths just had to be faced head on!

Even as a kid, Lighting was scary. She could tell even if she wasnt being to serious about it quite yet... oh boy. She was already going to hear it from Serah as is! The question was... was Lightining scarier as an adult or a child?
...He didnt want to know the answer to that actually.
The way she talked though.. it defently wasnt a simple case of Lightining being shrunken for some reason. Their was something else going on here.
....
He was going to have to protect his rival now wasnt he?
"Your moms a smart woman kupo! You and your sister can get through anything together kupo! As for ummm letting her go kupo, of course! I'd never let Serah go off alone kupo, shes with a friend! in fact I can get ahold of her right now!"
Where were they? How long had she been out? This was a game of twenty twenty poor Mog just wasnt prepared for! Did he say everything up front now? Wait until Serah got back?
"Well kupo, you've been out for a while.. a few days at least now? as for where we are..."
She was interrupted by a buzzing on his wand. Speak of the devil it was the SECOND scary sister. Which he then produced a small , recorded image of before them, the sight of which would likely shock the smaller Serah.
And so began the terror that was Serah Farron.
"Mog, why is my sister currently a child?"
The image of an older Serah stated while pointing towards the younger Claire frantically.
Mog sweated, unsure of what to say in response, instead moving back and forth for a moment. Part of him wished Serah had been hit by whatever bug this was to, at least then he could handle things better!
"Kupo it wasnt me! She just woke up like this kupo!"
No way she was believing this but it was the truth! He just woke up and POOF little Lightining!
"Ah! I have to go, look I'll be back soon until then take VERY good care of my sister ok Mog? I trust you, I believe in you, but don't worry TO much... my new little sister will just have a new stuffed animal if you don't"
Annnnd she was gone, he did NOT want to become Lighting's stuffed animal. Which meant he now had to keep her safe. How exaclty? The only way....
Aha! He'd let her use his weapon form when they went out! Not the.. best solution but their wasnt much else he could do kupo! Surely if Serah of all people could learn to use her Lighting here woudnt have trouble relearning ether!
....right?
The moogle sighed, the returned his attention back to the now younger Farron sister.
"Kupo... You have a lot of questions now right kupo? first just in case... yes that's Serah kupo, I promise"
Golly, he remembered when his job was just being a strong moogle, those were the days...

Some truths had to be faced head on, huh? Claire... wasn't ready for this. She saw an older woman, early twenties give or take. She... looked like, a grown up Serah, somewhat? There was a frown on her face, followed by an eerie silence. The conversation ensuing was vital, so why interrupt the Moogle? When it was finished, true enough, Mog did what he could.
"That's really her? It's... hard to believe." she confessed, in fact she couldn't believe it but there was something nagging her more. "She asked why her sister was a child? I guess to an adult, I would be... I'm fifteen, for the record." she frowned, trying to process everything, slowly.
Claire got the impression that her 'older' sister, believed she shrunk or reverted in age, rather. So then, that must be a Serah from the future. Alternatively, Claire was from the past... Both were correct, given perspective. That certainly changed things and Mog, reassured her that it was Serah. So, she stared at the moogle but not with a glare, just a puzzled expression.
"I was out... a couple of days, in which you want me to believe, that I went from being an adult...to becoming a teenager?" it was logical sure but who would believe that? Claire had no memories of it! She just wanted her kid sister back, none of this...made sense to her.
"I'd like to go out, get an idea of where I am, wherever this even is..." she stated firmly.
Claire, wasn't going to take 'no' for an answer here.

”Kupo, Right? You’re the older sister after all, must feel like you’ve traded places!”
The moogle was trying to take things slow with the now younger farron, ease her into things so she was not overwhelmed, do his best not to get knocked around by a stray piece of wood because she upset Lighting. All life goals particularly important to his heart right now! Of course, such goals were difficult to keep when her once master went straight into questions about Serah’s comments on her age. Mog was not about to lie of course, doing so would do more harm than good. There was the small matter of getting Lighting to believe him though.
”Well kupo… We have not figured out why but…. For some reason you have regressed in age and memory to your current… age. A few minutes ago your hair was more unruly, clothes more badass… oh and your chest was bigger! Body in general really kupo! I know that is hard to believe kupo but hear me out! You could tell that was your sister right? She is worried about you… knowing her she’s probably on her way back already kupo. So, if we could just sit on around… wait... I’ve got some moogle stories I could tell you!”
Claire’s response came as expected, likely causing a comical scene if anyone had been watching in where Mog could only nod in response.
”That’s right, yes kupo”
He then thought about it, an idea sparked in his head. With a spin he waved his wand in the air.
”I know a bit of magic kupo! I could show you what you looked like and…
And Lighting wanted to go outside instead. Oh, he recognized that look and tone. That was her ‘this isn’t really a question’ tone. He could tell even if he tried to stop her, she was going to go outside, the only hope he really had of trying to keep an eye on her until Serah got back then was…
To go with her…. Serah was going to make a pincushion out of him, wasn’t she? There was no winning with these two! On top of it all Lighting would be going blind if he didn’t go, what was a moogle to do?
”Ok ok kupo! But.. we cannot go TO far, ok? Serah’s coming back remember? Kupo… I’ll just have to be your guide, let’s go kupo” At least he could try and not become a pincushion at Lighting’s hands...
”Usually I do this for Serah, but if we run into trouble I can become a weapon for you to defend yourself kupo! We should be fine but... better safe than sorry kupo, besides I don’t know where Serah put your gunblade”
Why did he swear his loyalty to these to again? The life of a moogle was pain….!

Claire had a brief bit of contemplation at the mention of trading places. It seemed surreal but everything about this place, including her circumstances, felt as such. Honestly, though she didn't want to doubt the moogle, it was just so hard to believe! So, she was suppressing the idea into the back of her mind. Clinging onto hope that the Serah coming back, was her twelve year old sister. Complete with a toothy smile and a basket of herbs and other simple medical supplies. Mostly, she imagined her coming back with a lot of good food. It made her smile, faintly; caught up in the memory of what should be the past... yet it really was only yesterday. Alas, her thoughts were interrupted by Mog's description, which caught her to stare in surprise. Only to blush at the mention of her chest, before she unconsciously covered said chest and looked away. "Badass...? Me? Sure, it sounds exciting but... It doesn't feel like me." she admitted, with a confused smile, that ultimately turned into a frown.
Admittedly, the Moogle stories did interest her but things were just too overwhelming for her to roll over and be a good... little sister. So, while it seemed she was inadvertently going to string along Mog, she was interested in the advice given. Magic could be very useful, she could imagine having some good fun with it. Magic could also be used to help people, in case money was needed. A much more academic means of handling things instead of brute strength and labour. Lastly, Mog mentioned being able to become a weapon and that prompted a visible reaction. It started with Claire's eyes widened in awe, then he received a rare smile from her. A genuine, kind one but it soon turned into a devious smirk.
"Well now, guess you're my hero." she began, before holding her arms out to welcome Mog into them for a hug. "Don't worry, I won't go too far. I intend to wait here for Serah, really." she tried to reassure Mog, the way she figured Serah might for him if things were reversed. If she knew her sister, she'd likely still want to do something, instead of sitting around doing nothing. In Serah's case, she'd want to explore just a bit, to forage. Since Serah was better at something like that, Claire opted to do a light patrol. Make sure the Cabin was in a safe spot, mostly out of sight. In the event there were potential roads leading to civilization, it'd be good to note for the long term.
Mostly, in case she needed help, as opposed to if her and her sister, as a team, needed such. The words of their Mother were ringing constantly in her mind right now. Thus, if Mog did come into her arms, she'd give him a gentle squeeze. Fortunately, before she could get swept up in the emotions that she last recollected... Mog distracted her with something fascinating.
"I... have a gunblade? Ah, the adult me, that is..." she tried to acknowledge this outloud.
"...That's...cool." she admitted before continuing, "...I'm not thrilled with the idea that I let myself go. Having more unruly hair? I guess...without Mother around to tame my hair, that could happen. She just had the magic touch." Claire spoke softly before looking around properly. Claire was tempted to go towards the farms, despite the scents coming from that direction. Farms meant farmers and farm hands, which meant life. Someone else to speak to besides Mog, alas... What would an older Serah say if she went off to speak with strangers? What if she turned out to be like their Mother, somehow? The thought of disappointing such a Serah, brought on an audible gulp.
Turning on her heel a bit, she'd proceed in the opposite direction for now, heading out to a small clearing towards the back side of the Cabin. Surely, they'd be safe there and now she could get some needed intel from Mog. "So... show me the damage." Claire began, "I want to see what kind of woman I became..." of course, she was pretty nervous about it. Claire had an idea of what might be needed, assuming she had to raise Serah going forward. She'd been trying to mentally prepare herself, though she was also selfish. Wishing and dreaming that their Mother would at least make it to see her graduate High School. Things were getting interesting at school admittedly.
"Then, I'd like to learn some magic, please. It'd be fun and I could surprise Serah a bit. If she's an adult, she probably doesn't remember what this me is like, right~?"Mischief was twinkling within her eyes, as was the coy grin that passed for an 'innocent smile'.

She just called him a hero, a hero? Lighting just called him a hero. The same Lighting who single handedly stomped him into the ground when he challenged her to a fight. Not only that but she was offering him a hug! This was unprecedented! Was he finally being recognized for his great skill? And by one of his masters no less! She was even being cooperative now for some reason…. Truly he must have impressed her greatly! As a result, he would fly right into the younger Farron’s arms. Ah yes this was much better. Being recognized, even getting a Serah tier hug! Maybe this would not be so bad after all! She was even accepting direction, maybe he had overacted at first. The monsters in the area would be no trouble for Claire with him at her side! Besides, he supposed it was better that Lighting became familiar with her surroundings. Something more in depth would surely come once Serah got home.
”That’s me kupo! Top moogle Mog! Let’s go!”
With that the moogle would begin to lead the way out the house and down a path from the back of it, of course though Mog acted like the leader, it was truly Claire leading the way. He made it a point to stay ahead of the younger Farron, any would be bandit or unruly monster would have to get through him to get to Claire!
….That was the idea anyway, truth was he was really only an effective offensive option in his weapon form… which he needed to be wielded in to be of any kind of effective use. Speaking of effective weaponry Claire took interest in the news that she wielded a gunblade as well, to which Mog gave a huff of pride and nodded.
”Not just had, You were a master Kupo! You could use magic to of course, but you were a sight using the gunblade! A one woman army pretty much, an army of one!”
Cool? Of course it was cool, he wished he could do all that! He wasn’t moogle enough for more than a few monsters [overhyping himself] Let alone the armada it seemed like Lighting dealt with on a daily basis. The moogle couldn’t help but chuckle at the younger Claire’s critic of how her hair style went downhill. It seemed Claire was once way more into her appearance, or at the very least into making herself look nice. Such a thought was quite entertaining to the moogle.
”Yep kupo! In your defense, you went all in protecting Serah, one couldn’t really blame you for neglecting yourself kupo!”
And then Claire asked the magic question, she wanted to know just what her adult form looked like. The moogle wasn’t lying, that was a simple enough spell to perform! The moogle did a spin in the air before pointing his clock topped wand to a spot just in front of Serah. A burst of pink magic and POOF the adult Claire would appear in all her glory in front of her. At first the figure simply wore her classic attire, but would shift into the attire she wore as a servant of Etro as well as what she wore on her final journey. Though it wasn’t the real thing Claire would even get to see a copy of the gunblade she used when she was older.
”So what do you think Kupo? Badass right? Oh, you can see your hair for yourself to kupo, sorry, Did I mention you could make monsters do your bidding? Not sure if you still can kupo”
If she could well… every method to protect her was a good thing, right? In this scenario thought… there were just too many factors to say for sure.
Mog was more that happy to teach what he could about magic, though the second part of Claire’s statement got a shake of denial from the moogle, yes, he had to dash that mischief in her form
”If theirs one thing I can guarantee, It’s that Serah knows everything there is to know about ‘Claire Farron’ unfortunately for you, You and Snow are the most important people in her life, that will simply never change kupo. Though whether she’s still used to it….”
The moogle paused, realizing his mistake as sweat formed on his face.
”…You don’t remember Snow do you kupo? Oh boy…. Well, he’s not around right now anyway”
The moogle then gave a spin, trying to change the subject with the excitement of magic!
”What do you want to learn first kupo? I can teach you the basics, though probably only a few things before Serah gets here, we will need to focus on your favorites kupo! Maybe Lighting magic?”
Yes that was a tease on Mog’s part, one Claire probably wouldn’t get anymore, but oh well! It was enough for the faithful little moogle!

Ah, the Moogle did look quite huggable in truth. With Mog in her arms briefly, her suspicions were validated. In turn she hugged him but not too tight. With Mog by her side, she felt reassured now, which meant she could take things slowly. First, she'd learn about her older self, for it wasn't everyday one could get an understanding of their future. Mog was quite good at upselling the woman she became, leaving Claire speechless. Her eyes were wide, as she tried to imagine herself being a one woman army. She could only imagine what her male peers would think, which made her smirk a bit. She'd let Mog do his thing, revealing how she'd look so that she could inspect her future self with discerning eyes.
At first, Claire was surprised, even mildly excited! Certainly, she could understand how she became strong but eventually, Claire found herself frowning. She really let herself go, which caused her to cross her arms and mutter softly, "...what a waste..." In the end, she sighed but Mog seemed to provide much needed commentary. Going all in to protect Serah, admittedly that was her plan, something she had been psyching herself up for. The woman she saw, was the result of her decision and more importantly, it didn't seem like she took her Mother's advice much. Had she relied on Serah even a little, she'd still have some time for herself.
"I really went low maintenance, without Mother around. I do look like her though, only more tough looking." Claire's self assessment would conclude eventually, though her tone was sad. Not that the somber atmosphere lasted for long, for Mog mentioned a name. Snow? To which she looked confused and thus shook her head. She didn't remember or truthfully, she didn't know who such a person was. "The basics, it is important to have a good foundation. Something my older self seems lacking..." she confessed before putting her critique aside, in lieu of doing something different.
"Lightning magic, huh? It sounds...fierce. A power that wouldn't let anyone get close, strong, as well as fast. Very no nonsense." she cupped her chin with her right hand for a moment before her hand moved to her side. "Please teach me then, Mog. I'm in your care. Ah but while we do, who is this man my sister has in her life? Well, I understand he's not here right now but... it's just hard to imagine. The Serah in my memories; is much too busy trying to explore every nook and cranny she can get herself into. Always running about, giggling and smiling. She's quite good with her studies too. I'd have liked for her to go University, becoming a soldier would have allowed for that I guess." while she could piece together some aspects of her life, based on what was shown and mentioned...
This Snow, who was important to Serah, remained quite the mystery. Claire reckoned it was someone met later on. Though was his name really Snow?It sounded cool but a bit weird, goofy even... Not at all the kind of guy she figured Serah would eventually gravitate towards. A smart girl like Serah, she suspected would find a mature, responsible man. One that was good with children, with a gentle nature. Claire could imagine that, though she'd hope he was responsible and had his life organized. Claire wouldn't allow a bum for her sister, it'd just be a waste of her potential! Though such thoughts were cursory and it felt like it should be years and years away, too!
Ah...but Serah was an adult, so even if Serah was twelve in her mind, in reality... Well, Claire would have to readjust her thoughts and expectations. Prepare for a different possibility, an inevitability that she'd not expected. An adult Serah would be the one taking care of her, in fact she'd been doing so already, indirectly through Mog. Well, Serah was taking care of an adult version of her. The thought was so absurd but it would do her no good to be inflexible. Instead, she would try to keep an open mind but pine to see a normal, younger Serah.

Mog could not help but let out a laugh as Claire quite thoroughly began criticizing her older form, though he did his best to hide it lest he receive a good thrashing! According to Claire she looked like her and Serah’s mother. Well, a rough and tumble version of their mother anyway from what she said. Watching Claire so readily critic herself was something he could not find entertaining, she did seem a bit down when she mentioned her mother though but moved on from it to quickly for Mog to try and comfort her, instead giving an understanding nod in response. Luckily, the subject would change to something Mog could really get behind-her magic lessons! He watched on as Claire considered is suggestion of lighting magic, and gave a spin when she decided it was what she wanted to go with!
”Then let’s get going kupo! We have a lot to do if you want to surprise Serah kupo! Now focus, doing magic requires drawing on the energy with in you. Some can do so better and more frequently but were only going to be messing with a basic Thunder spell for now, so you should be able to handle it kupo! So, focus, find your center for me… your energy, then we can continue. The Snow stuff… I tell you what, if you can manage to cast thunder I will tell you kupo! Needless to say though… she still gets into everything she can kupo!”
Giving Claire a clear reward to work towards would also, if he knew her like he thought he did push her even more to successfully pulling off the spell.
”Lighting is probably the most aggressive kupo, even more than fire! Because of that for me it helps to envision a surge going through you, focus that energy outward through your palms kupo, It may be difficult at first but that’s just because your not trained yet, I know you can pull it off kupo! Keep you eye on the prize!’
Mog kept a close eye on the pinkette’s progress as she tried to weave her first spell. Though his suggestion of magic had been a tease on his part he none the less provided her with advice at every turn as she needed it, guiding her until she was able to fire off the spell herself. Once she did well… it was time for her reward then wasn’t it?
’You did amazing kupo! I am proud of my rival kupo! Now then for your reward! Ok so see Snow is Serah’s…..
”Fiancé, Snow is my fiancé, and he is very responsible thank you very much!”
Mog was interrupted by the voice of Serah, unfortunately not the age Claire was hoping for but also in a very Lighting like stern mood.
”Mog, were you about to leak my personal relationship details to my sister? Here I was coming up… all happy you two were teaching her magic, and I hear you ready to spew out all my secrets! Wait… why aren’t you two at the cabin? Mog!!”
Lumina had been absolutely right Mog WAS going along with whatever Claire told him! What if some weird man had come by trying to entrance Clair? Mog couldn’t do a whole lot unless Claire used him to fight back, and she was pretty sure Claire probably lost her fighting skills to from how things were looking! The only response the moogle gave was fleeing behind the now younger very to escape Serah’s wrath, prompting a sigh from the girl herself.
”Sorry sis I know this must all still be confusing for you… I should slow down, look it’s me Serah”
She took her time, putting down the bag of food and supplies she had gathered along the way beside her and leaning down to let Claire examine her so she could be sure herself, pointing at herself so she knew she could do so.
”I’m so sorry it took me a while to get here… as soon as I learned what happened I came right back! Are you feeling ok? Everything is where it should be?”
Serah was every bit as worried about Claire as she had been about her. Of course they were, that was how it had always been.
”Oh how about this! I can make us dinner and we can catch up! We can gather up some firewood… I brought back some supplies to, so I can make whatever you want to eat! Cause don’t you worry I’m still the cooker in this family!”
She gave Claire a warm smile, a caring smile. Care and love only one sister could radiate for the other. She had every intention of helping Claire through this, the same as she had always done for her. She would be there for her, no matter what.
