Thinking of you, wherever you are I've returned from memories past, reborn from times past
⚡
Claire nodded in response to starting with the basics, it was important to have a good foundation. Sure, she was eager to challenge herself but she didn't need her ego assuaged any. There was simply a thrill to challenging oneself, overcoming the weaknesses of yesterday. Besides, she never wanted to feel like a damsel, ever again! The earnest look in her eyes, the lack of interruptions, not even a quip from the self-proclaimed prodigy. Claire... was really serious about this and in this way, Serah could get a glimpse of what her sister was like in military training.
"Casting it non-stop is...exhausting, right. So there's a natural capacity, like a pool of magic that's inside us? Makes sense." Claire nodded her head, trying to remember the feel of strain when going beyond her current limit. She could cast Thunder quite a few times now but she wasn't battle ready, nor battle confident. While Claire was taking this seriously, making mental notes, going over the information in kind. Serah was... Well, she looked like she was having her own fun.
"...Dork." was all she'd say in response to weaving fate. Really, people made their own fate, Claire always believed as much and in turn, she worked hard to pursue whatever was needed. Whether it was helping Mom with chores, studying hard in school, as well as her mischief. For, in the case of testing Snow, she had the test in mind already. One that would make Teacher Serah quite proud, honestly. The look of determination and mischief in Claire's eye, would likely worry said Teacher more so in truth.
Upon being asked, "I'd give him a pop quiz about everything you, of course!" Simple but effective and if he couldn't answer the questions in her pop quiz, then he definitely wasn't worthy of Serah's hand in marriage. Adults made things so complicated, this was easy in comparison. Likewise, reading Serah was easy too. The way she tried to cover for Snow, asking Claire to take it back. "No way, he sounds way too much like Dad already~" Claire would tease in retaliation, before giggling no less. Serah didn't remember much about their Dad but that's why Claire was here. To share memories of him, to fill in those gaps, so that her sister, whether older or younger, didn't feel alone or lacking.
That said, Claire wasn't prepared for the shocking admittance to her...boy problem. "I'm...scary?" Well, Claire's shoulders slumped in woe now. "I only played a few pranks... Sure, sometimes I'd say certain things to really mess with them but I was never serious!" yet if even Serah thought she was scary, then she'd gone too far. Well, in a different way than she wanted to be interpreted. Thus came a listless sigh from the younger Farron. These were mistakes she was not keen to repeat in this world. This was why she would endure the baking lessons! "Please, sis... I'm counting on you here!" that desperate plea, her school life, no social life... was really on the line here!
For a moment, Claire hadn't quite realized the dastardly trick employed. Serah seemed like she believed her excuse but didn't say much else. A cursory glance made Claire all the more suspicious, which soon turned into Claire's embarrassment. "You're not convinced, huh?" Claire sighed in defeat. "I know things are different now but... If the future me didn't tell you about these social life...problems... Then, well... I mean... it's not like you told me about your dating life and such, right? Ah, I mean, you didn't tell the future me about those, right~? So you should understand how embarrassing it is!" Claire was just guessing on this one but she suspected that Serah likely hid a lot of things about Snow. Separating personal life from family life was just a teenager thing to do.
"Ah!? N-no wait, you being my teacher in school, ALSO COUNTS as one of those embarrassing moments! It's fine at home but in public!? N-no way." perhaps she was protesting this much but this was one change, whether it was being a big sis or the little sis, she was still fifteen. No way she could let this go!
When talk came to Serah's current job and thus, her partner's life, this kind of girl talk she could get into! The boyfriend of Serah's business partner. There was something romantic about all this, even if she felt too awkward to share some of her innermost thoughts. It seemed wonderful to Claire and she wanted to meet Zell, as well as Miss Lumina soon. Though, she didn't really know much about Lumina...time to fix that! "So then, what's Miss Lumina like? You seem sure about Zell being good for her, is she good for Zell?" perhaps it was a bit of gossip but this was a mystery more so! One Claire was just dying to know. A nice distraction, given her own self-conscious worries.
Despite Serah's reassurances, Mog's swift comedic honesty came through. 'Stuffy', Claire looked at the moogle with disbelief. How could she be stuffy? Thinking back about her pranks and how she spoke to boys sometimes, there was an air of that 'cool' and 'serious' charm she tried to project. Ah but boys were dumb, so she'd only get through to them with that style of communication. When she was more charming and sweet, they just brushed it off. Always getting into trouble, making her worry, she could only sigh. Watching the hijinks of Mog and Serah, made her feel a bit better. Her partner in crime seemed to be getting his just desserts after all.
"That's a really thoughtful gift, good job future me, I guess. Though it lacks a bit of...charm. I'm glad you like it on her behalf~ Well... if she could see the look on your face right now, I'm sure she'd be happy too." as old as Serah was now, she still had a heart warming expression when she was grateful for something. That only made her impish grin wider, until Serah pointed it out. Which caused Claire to gasp and stop right there and then.
"Ah...not you too. Right, I'll try to keep grinning to a minimum." having a nickname like Imp in this world? Nope, not on her watch. Why did it seem like her new social life was in danger before it even started?! Briefly, she looked to Serah who had a nostalgic look on her face. Claire was about to inquire on it, when the subject matter escalated. The ever honest Mog, wasn't going to let falsehoods fly in this house. He risked his neck to clear this one up, instead of letting Serah sweep it under the rug. The revelations he ushered in, left Claire in shock.
"..." truly speechless, Claire looked down, feeling miserable. Yet the shock soon turned into something else. No protest, no self-assured declaration that she was different. Perhaps the moogle landed a critical hit? What mattered was, she didn't doubt him, not even for a second. It sounded precisely like what she'd do. What she was on track to do even. She glimpsed Serah flailing as she decided to reflect on this information. Once Serah slumped, she could tell it was true and how it impacted her deeply. Claire would study her sister for just a moment, before closing her eyes.
"I really did join the military. I was thinking about it, as a backup plan of sorts, in the hospital while you were gone. Just briefly..." Claire finally broke the silence. "I remember even before we arrived, how tense I was feeling. I ended up scolding you about running too. I'd always been afraid, you know... of the time when Mom would leave us." pausing, she crossed her arms for a moment, contemplating everything deeply.
"...It's like I said earlier, pinning my dreams on you. Vicariously living through you... I'm sorry that you had to experience that selfishness of mines. I can't offer much, being this present me and not the one you came to know. All I can say, is I intend to learn from my mistakes. I've also changed my mind, I think you should become a full time teacher. If you've got your sights set on teaching magic, then why not? Although... weren't you really good at history and humanities?"

I'm not an army of one
That was her sister alright.
Call her Lighting.
Call her Claire.
Call her Lumina.
It was all the same. Once she set her mind to something that was all there was to it, she would give it her all to see it through. That was a constant for the woman know as ‘Claire Farron’. Age? Memories? Becoming split apart? Nothing would ever be able to scratch the core of who she was…
Why did Serah accept Lumina so easily?
It would probably be hard for anyone else to get, she could not blame them for that.
But the answer was simple: She was her sister.
It was funny, Lumina would probably take a bit of offense if she said it… but she was a lot like Lighting, just not as stuffy. Serah could accept her, then and now because…. Lumina was Claire. Lighting was Claire.
Claire… was simply Claire.
For Serah it did not matter if another came in once more in the form of older Claire, she would think the same. For Claire was her sister, and they were all Claire.
Each one their own beautiful, wonderful individual. Sure, it was confusing to actually handle, but the explanation itself was simple for Serah. Explaining it though? That would be another story. She supposed the only thing she would be able to think to say was…
‘Claire is my sister, and they are Claire’
This time Claire was a magic soldier huh? She could not help but giggle. She wanted to see… just what she would become.
She wanted to see what her sister would grow into bearing wings of freedom. Something so different… so unique.
As they say, Lighting never strikes the same place twice.
Just what would she become?
”That’s right, it takes a lot of training to build up your reserves and effectively cast different spells. Think of it like a muscle, the more you train it… the more effective it becomes, understand?”
When called a dork Serah gave a huff, hands to her hips and cheeks filled with air. But an idea dawned on her. One she was sure would strike Claire quite well at this age. Oh yes~ She leaned down and paced one gentle hand upon Claire’s hair and, with a grin she returned the favor.
”Sourpuss~”
In truth, when it came to the look Claire’s eye about testing Snow Serah could only feel worried, what devilish plan did her little sister have in mind for her husband to be?
She could not help but giggle at what she suggested. In truth, what she had planned did make Serah proud. It made sense on paper. If Snow did not know her well and true, then how would their marriage succeed? Of course, Serah already knew he would easily pass such a test, Snow knew her better than anyone after all!
”Well that just seems perf… wait… not EVERYTHING right?”
Embarrassing moments, childhood crushes, the time she dressed up as a PSICOM huntress and tried to act like one of the soldiers…
Some things were better off LOCKED AWAY!
”Umm… we are DEFENTLY going over that quiz before you give it to him…”
Claire continued to insist that Snow was like there dad, the worst part was that Serah could not disprove her on it! But that was just AKWARD wasn’t it? She crossed her arms, shaking her head in denial. Nope nope she was NOT thinking about that, no way! In fact, she was just going to move on to the next subject, that is how much she did not want to think about that!
She gave a sympathetic pat when Claire was bestowed the revelation of her scariness. This unfortunately was another aspect of being Claire. She was always, understandably strict with her after mother…. Left. Of course her…. Pranks had also been quite a bit scarier than Claire realized at times. As for what she said well… ….Claire wasn’t as good with words as she thought.
Still, Claire needed her help, she was begging for it! As her sister, as her now older sister. Serah had to do everything she could to make sure Claire did not scare everyone off again. And it would begin by not causing a fire in the kitchen! Serah held Claire close to her side, pumping a fist in the air in confidence!
”Don’t worry sis, when were done there’s no way you’ll become the most terrifying presence in the room! And… you’ll be able to make socially acceptable cookies, this I swear!”
Well… part of the reason she had not told older Claire about her romantic life was because of the embarrassment, Lighting had basically become her mother figure after Mom passed away after all. But… it was more than that. It was beyond a simple matter of teenage embarrassment over falling in love.
After all… when she did finally tell Lighting about Snow….”
…..
”Right… of course, very embarrassing, for sure. Hey but… you can talk to me about them now, ok? Or anytime going forward. I… will not get mad, Big sis Serah is here~ Sure I’m not as… tough as you were, but I have far more maternal power!”
Claire seemed very much against the prospect of Serah being her teacher however, which prompted quite the grin from the older Farron. Hand over her chest dramatically she leaned in with her best mock pout.
”But just imagine it sis… I could walk you to school, and, instead of just dropping you off… I could walk you straight to class, my class. And I could put you right up front where you could see all my lessons and all the students know just who’s related to who when I assign all the homework~”
Sure, she was kidding, but that did not mean it was not quite the thought for Claire to take in. Besides… would it really be so bad? If she were her teacher... she could ensure Claire remained happy even during class.
”You know I bet I could get Lumina’s help if people start picking on you to, oh she has so many tricks up her sleeves…”
Tease bomb successfully launched~
Ah girl talk, how would Lumina feel about her talking all about her romantic life like this? Well, she was sure it would be fine in the end anyway. After all they were so lovey dovey. Why shouldn’t she spread that kind of happiness around?
”She’s definitely good for Zell, there so in love it’s almost painful with how shy they are about showing it, especially to each other. Oh, but I can tell if anything happened to Zell… Lumina would be there. And Gods help anyone who actually harms them, I doubt they could escape her fury”
There was something else though… Serah frowned. She really… should not keep that bit of information from her sister. But remembering how Lumina reacted, and all the convincing it took to get her to believe that she did in fact have a place in their family…
But Claire wasn’t like that right? If anything, she would probably be happy to have another sister to tease. And with Lumina someone more… on the same wavelength so to speak.
”Speaking of Lumina how would you feel if I said you… technically have another sister? Or I guess twin is more accurate?”
The young teacher rubbed the back of her head in confusion, trying too figure out how best to properly do so, eventually settling on trying to based on her sister’s reaction to the news. Knowing her she would probably react in…. well, she would probably assume she got adopted, or remarried.
….This was going to be so hard to explain, why did she bring it up again?
Oh right, honesty. Sometimes she wished she could be as sneaky as Fang and Vanille.
Claire seemed to understand the importance of the knife, though also chastised its lack of charm. To this Serah gave a light huff despite the serious tone of the conversation.
”Charm is important of course, but so is practicality! Besides if you gave me a dress or something, it might not fit today you know? If this gets broke I can have it fixed… and I can maintain, I can keep a memory of you with me always, I’m sure… that’s part of what you.. older you, was thinking”
She held the closed knife close to her chest, a warm smile radiating from her as she did so. If not before, it was clear just how much it meant to her now, just as much as the necklace still clasped gently around her neck. After Mog’s devious time bomb of truth Serah went to look over Claire, she went to assure that it was not as bad as Mog made it seemed, that she was a perfectly wonderful sister all grown up. She reached her hand out to hold her shoulder but…
But Claire had already begun to comment it all, and Serah frowned in response.
”Well… I’m not supposed to run in the halls you know…”
A silly comment to make, but Serah was just trying to get by. She did not want Claire to feel bad. She had not wanted her to have to reflect on actions he herself had never taken. She just wanted her to live her to enjoy her life, Serah could deal with the past. She stood there, listening as Claire reflected on those actions none the less. Mom… she missed her, even now.
Mom would have known how to handle this, she was sure. She would not have been lost like she was. Still, she felt proud of her sister, she wanted to grow, to better herself not only form what she was now, but who she became before. Despite the worries she could not help but giggle.
”That’s so like you sis… no matter the age… ok, I’m right behind you. I know… you’ll make the life of your dreams this time around, and I will be right here for you along the way”
Ah… now she approved of her becoming a teacher? Though she joked before… it meant a lot to her to hear that. Further… it would line everything up well, and she really did want to teach again. As for why she wanted to teach magic?
”Teaching magic is pretty much universal, To teach history now, I would need to learn all about this world, or at least about the area of the world were going to be living in. Do not get me wrong that is something I am eager to do but…. It takes time, perhaps I can in the future. For now…. Magic is something I can teach to help you, and other young children… does that make sense?”
Seeing Claire’s determination made her smile once more, she was so sure of herself, sure she would make it right this time. Serah could not help but believe in her whole heartedly. But it was more than that. She also felt…. She hoped it did not make Claire feel awkward but….

Building up a reserve was definitely important, having vast supply to show off how cool and strong she was, an admirable goal. These thoughts were beginning to brew, like a storm. Until a quick quip about being a sourpuss. "Ugh...I really can't let that stick, not this time around." came her interrupted retort. Not while she was visualizing her new identity of sorts, for such was her determination! Besides, she was pretty adaptable, that's how she pulled off her pranks in succession.
...Speaking of adaptable, the glint in Claire's eyes was shining all the brighter now. "Everything." Claire reiterated, this time, giving an 'innocent' smile, that hid a smug air about it. After all, she wanted to be the big sister, so she might as well endure...a little sister's secret weapons! In fact, at the mention of giving her the proverbial test sheet, Claire tilted her head in consideration. "I would be happy to show you such, ordinarily. However, I said 'Pop Quiz', surely Ms. Farron knows what that implies, right~?"
Oh how fun this 'quiz' will be, she had so much cards in her back pocket, she might as well be an 'Ace' teacher in the school of Serah. Not just Serah either, a teacher in the Farron family ways. A fine and noble heritage...well, not really, given they didn't have any other relatives. Regardless, it was mostly fun to watch Serah sweat in this instance. Worrying all the while at what deviations could be unleashed. Perhaps this was why the boys found her scary, hmmm, in a brief bit of self awareness; Claire added: "...It'll be fine, probably."
Serah was willing to move on all the same, so Claire left it with that foreboding thought. Instead, sighing in relief at Serah's confidence in teaching cooking. "Great. I hear that one's stomach is the quickest avenue to their heart. Maybe that's how you won Snow over? Clever, clever." given she could imagine their Mom doing such for their Dad, it made all the sense in the world. Something she'd cherish quietly and not shed more light on, for now. Not when Serah seemed to insist on it being okay to share certain...social...matters. At the very least, Claire gave it some serious thought.
"It's not like we're back in our world anymore, so it can't hurt. I don't even mind going to school together, that sounds like it could be fun. I don't do well sitting at the front or standing out too much. The real action is at the back, with a good view of the entire classroom---" her devious side was leaking out, inadvertently this time. Maybe being at the front would make a strong impression this time but it's not like she could reinvent her whole character, on a whim no less!
Really, Claire was going to speak up on that homework tidbit in particular. That was not the path of...'cool' but even as she flushed in embarrassment, she was earnestly contemplating how to go about that differently. Seemingly missing the joke in all this, well...planning out a new, ideal route in life was much too serious to joke about! Taking it in stride, she'd file away some contingency plans in case Ms. Farron impacted her reputation with the other students.
In regards to Lumina, the more she could learn, the more the mental image changed and grew. "That's an unexpected cute side. I can believe the fury part of course. One has to be fierce in business and adventure." how to imagine such a cool person with such a cute, feminine side to her though? Hmm, it made her want to see it in action, in truth. The contrast sounded adorable but also unbelievable in its own light. Not that Serah would lie to her about such things, far from it. Seeing was believing for some stories in the end. Speaking of...Claire just paused right in her tracks, tilting her head once more. "...I, have a twin? How...did that happen?"
Admittedly, these thoughts of a sister, a twin had taken up her attention, that she just passively agreed with practicality. "You're not...wrong. Still, there is something...not lacking but well, I guess its fine. It really is quite a thoughtful gift, plus you look so happy, I can't argue my future success."
Claire while doing this introspective, wasn't above making jest to certain things. "That's because you're too... Heh. I didn't teach you the art of not getting caught." she admitted, this time unable to hide her impish grin at all. Mostly because she knew that she'd taught Serah very well. Seeing it in such a wholesome way was far too adorable. "I know I can rely on you to back me up now, for sure." Claire was happy to also file this away for herself. Her earnest, unable to hide many things or do wrong sister. Seeing this side of her, was all she needed not to let things weigh her down too much. Though she wouldn't deny that having the chance to reflect on certain actions and do better, hard as it was to face, harder still to embrace, was worth it.
"...Huh, you're proud of...me? I'm proud of you! That explanation for teaching Magic was so...professional, mature...I'm trying to find my bearings right now. Even saying I'm impressed, just doesn't really do it justice."

I'm not an army of one
Serah giggled at Claire’s response to her quip. It really was just like when they were younger in that sense… though of course she still had to be responsible here, it didn’t seem like Claire thought she didn’t have to be. She just wanted to be free to live her life, and that was all Serah wanted to. Still, that didn’t mean she couldn’t tease her along the way, after all she had never quite had a chance like this before. Of course, it was fun, but it was also… a relief she supposed, to be able to. It was ironic, she had more responsibility than she ever had and yet her heart… had never felt more at ease about this. The woman known as Claire always deserved to be able to live a life all her own, free from anything tying her down…. And now she could. It was a beautiful thing.
So, she let Claire have her little fit, it was much more adorable see her reaction than to continue it at this point, anyway. when it came to her answers about the test though? No no, just no. She wasn’t sure if she could SURVIVE Snow having to taking a quiz Claire made for him! She didn’t hide anything from her future husband, but that didn’t mean he needed to know EVERY embarrassing moment from her life and, going by her grin it was exactly what Claire planned to use!
”Oh I do squirt! I’m not taking the test little miss, so I won’t have you spilling out all THOSE embarrassing moments! Its to much! Just do a normal life quiz sis!”
The red in Serah’s face was clear, as was the fume practically coming from her ears at the thought of it happening, more so at her likely not being able to stop it despite all this. She ultimately gave a sigh, shaking her head. Did she give Claire this much trouble when she was young?
They moved on, but Claire didn’t relent on teasing her about her love, Serah stuttered a bit shaking her head.
”Well… of course I cook for Snow a lot, but that’s not all! Theres a lot more to a relationship than just the food you know, ……does help though
She sighed but couldn’t help but laugh at Claire’s response to her becoming her teacher, she accepted it, but what made the older Farron chuckle was her response to being up front, If Claire hadn’t already said it herself Serah would have. Because of course she wanted to be in the back. What better spot to get a solid eye on all the people she could mess with? Because she knew that even before it was confirmed by Claire, she already had her hands firmly on her hips as she said it, and quite the stern Serah face going on as well.
”I’m warning you Claire, I won’t tolerate chaos in my classroom not even from my sister, not unless you want to be in a corner like your little. Besides we’ll get enough of that from the magic anyway”
Though she was stern, it wasn’t long before that sternness melted back into her warm smile. The flush of embarrassment Claire shoed no doubt speeding it along. Two could play at that game! Even if, much like when Claire was older than her, she was about as close to young Claire’s gremlin power as she was older Claire’s combat ability. She reached a hand out to pat Claire’s head with a smile.
”Just kidding~ well, as long as you behave in class sis~”
Back to the subject of Lumina Serah nodded her head in agreement with her sister. Even having not met she had Lumina pegged to a T. Well she supposed that made since, but it still showed how good Claire was at these things.
”I can safely say she’s the fiercest businesswoman I’ve ever known, sneakiest to honestly…”
Then came the subject of Lumina and Claire’s relation, at first she thought about telling a simple story, but Mog’s head peaking up in the background practically foretold another interruption if she did. Besides Claire would just see right through it.
Though even the truth was…. Going to be hard to swallow.
”In the simplest terms…. You bottled yourself so much your innermost feelings came out and gave you a wake up slap”
She gave a light chuckle at that, before turning more serious.
”the whole story is… complicated, and another reason I’m not a big gods fan, much as I’m happy to have Lumina around”
She sighed, crossing her arms and stepping around in thought.
”Mog already told you what you ended up doing as we grew up…. You buried your own wants, companionship…. Support… love, your own life… you buried everything you considered selfish, vulnerable…. deep down…. After some time, you went into crystal sleep after I…. ….. vanished, for a while. …. No, I shouldn’t lie I… over did it, my soul had to rest in you. I was comfortable there but…”
She gripped her hands on her arms tightly, a rare look of anger on the older farron’s face.
”Bhunivelze, the most high and mighty jerk of a god you’ll ever meet separated us… and those feelings. They separated and became there own form… to keep me safe”
A look of guilt crossed Serah’s face. Perhaps if she hadn’t fallen after the battle with Caius… She never would have gone through that…
”They became Lumina who, as I said gave you a wake up call, you eventually reunited but… Lumina appeared again in this world, she’s become her own person, you know? So… she’s your twin sister, our sister!”
The memories were hard to revisit, especially with how foggy they were from her being in the backseat the whole time. She didn’t know everything, but she did know enough to give that explanation. Lumina would be able to give Claire a better one if she was willing, certainly more so on the emotional side of things.
”Sorry, that must be a lot to take in… I’ve had a while to think on all of it. A really long while… but don’t worry, your both my adorable little sisters you know!”
Yes, because like Claire Lumina had regressed as well, it showed just how connected the two were even now. She wanted Claire to meet Lumina, when she could. She was relived when Claire relented on the knife being a success, even if she seemed to think there were better options. That was fine, but she would always treasure it, always keep it safe.
“I know I can count on you to back me up now”
It made her heart skip a beat, made tears begin to well up in her eyes, though she quickly took a deep breath and reeled them in. It caused a warm to wash throughout her body… happiness.
They could stand together, side by side.
”The world doesn’t stand a chance against the Farron sisters right? I know that, hehe… were going to ace it”
A moment of happiness, a moment of bliss. Time spent together like this was magical to her. Serah was always the good, well behaved girl… but that was thanks to how Claire had raised her. Her biggest rebellion had been wanting a boyfriend after all.
Oh, and the fireworks, there was that.
Her cheeks turned red at Claire’s enthusiastic praise of her. She gave a wide smile and nodded. This meant… so much to her. More than Claire probably realized right now. But that was ok. That fact… just made it all the more genuine to her.
”I’ve had a lot of practice you know! I could go into detail all day, on this… the history of our old home, I’m quite proud of my teaching abilities… Everyone else may be more effective at fighting, but this I know… it’s what I want to do in the world. I want to people able to help the youths grow. Youths like you little sis~”
She teasingly patted Claire’s head, but with a warm, bright smile on her face.

"No problem, one normal life quiz." Claire admitted, before mentally adding; "...with a side of extra 'cute' mishaps." Honestly, when did Serah become so teasable? It was becoming harder to imagine her future self being so strict. Well... unless she was overcome with worry and responsibility. That fiance of hers would no doubt be a big wedge while thinking of her future. University was expensive, so focusing on getting together everything Serah would need to comfortably study. Her future self's actions were becoming more clear by the minute. Unfortunately, so were the glaring oversights!
"...There's more? I mean, I know there should be more to relationships but..." Claire wasn't even sure why she was taken aback by that statement. It should be obvious but given some thought, she just realized how truly inexperienced she was in this area. Boys were mostly immature and thus, easy targets for her schemes admittedly. Though there were some standouts, who she didn't mess with. Those one were just harder to approach due to being more mature for their age. Brushing off her mischief as harmless, revealing her good natured but inexperienced self. Ah, it was too embarrassing to admit she was a trendy house wife beneath the facade of cool.
"...Ahaha, chaos? Me~? Never. I happen to get good grades and am responsible. Only amateurs let their plans trace back to them." Claire was beaming when she shouldn't. In essence, admitting that she was so cunning that she didn't get caught by her teachers. A true troublemaker was before Teacher Serah, probably best to curb her now.
"I promise I'll behave, I'm not aiming for the class clown identity either. Especially not while learning magic, I need to focus." otherwise, how could she be the best there ever was?
As they shifted back to Lumina, to whom Claire was also idolizing, much like Mr. Caius. Claire learned that Lumina was a business woman, the sneakiest too. Wait... that stuck out a lot, a partner that was mischievous? Perhaps that was her first clue, that there was more to Lumina than meets the eye. Serah then slowly explained the circumstances of Claire's twin. One that was surprising, leaving Claire speechless. Arguably, not because of the actions of her future self. She'd already begun to easily imagine her actions and motivations. Just that she lacked so much self-care.
"...twin sister. I really have a twin." Claire ultimately wasn't sure how to feel. The origin of Lumina being her own negligence was heartbreaking. At the same time, she felt proud that Lumina was able to carve out her own life. Now she was doing well and even had a boyfriend... Wait!
"...Tell me more about her boyfriend Serah, please!" This was now far more important to Claire than ever before. "In fact, please recap everything you know about him!" The look of seriousness, how focused Claire was on this issue. The simple reason for this was that, if her future self's actions were prophetic. In that they revealed parts of herself that hadn't been acknowledged or manifested. Then was her tastes similar to her twin? She hadn't even had the thought of what sort of guy she liked! This was getting bad, maybe her face was flushing slowly as their conversation continued on.
"That's a very admirable dream. We definitely have to make the most of our life here in this world from now on. It'd almost be a sin not to."

I'm not an army of one
Serah gave a sigh of relief as Claire appeared to relent on going to crazy with the quiz. The last thing she needed was Snow learning all the weird dumb things she did as a child. Sure, the normal stuff was fine, but Serah knew full well that hadn’t been what Claire had in mind with that. She was very much glad she could nip it in the bud here!
Again… so she thought.
Luckly there was a subject she was much more well versed in coming her way. She smiled, a sense of pride swelling in her chest as she nodded confirmation of the question Claire asked. It was clear by the tone she was taking that that much like her knowledge of there home, this was a subject she had gotten very fluent at over the years.
”Of course there is! You must spend time together, show your love for each other… you must support each other, even when things get hard… there’s so much more than just feeding them. But most of all….”
All these serious statements came to the most serious one of all, shown by the sharp look on Serah’s face, and her hand raised confidently in the air.
”You have to train them!”
As Claire explained herself, first acting like it was silly she would cause chaos, then affirming she wasn’t amateurish enough to let her plans get back to her. This caused Serah to lean in close to her sister, a bright smile on her face as she addressed Claire. Despite it being a smile Claire would be able to feel the force behind it, the absolute seriousness with which Serah said the words. The aura of Claire’s sister in that moment was the same pressure all her students faced when they misbehaved, or were going to.
”Your right, I’m sure you’ll be an angel in my class, right sis?”
Once her sister confirmed that the ‘Teacher aura’ would fade away as she nodded her head in confirmation with a less ‘lethal’ smile. She was proud of her sister wanted to apply herself. She didn’t expect her to do any less of course, but it was still a wonderful thing to see and this time... she would be the one to help her see it through, to help guide her dream.
It was pressure sure, but it was also magical to her.
”I know you can become the best mage there is sis, I’m going to be right here to help you. The great Claire~”
Claire seemed to take what she said well, if silently at first. When she did speak of Serah giggled at her reaction. She seemed shocked, but not unhappy, if anything she seemed… in the middle. But she was still glad she told her. She was glad she knew everything now. Though she was slightly surprised her sister wasn’t questioning someone who would logically be her age now running the kind of business Lumina did. Though then again…. Given she just told the story, she PROBALY assumed she was still the original Claire’s age. Serah could only give a wide grin as Lumina asked her to go everything, she did just that, but once she did she leaned in, right into Claire’s ear.
”Guess we might just like the same kind of guy huh sis?”
The wording, along with what she repeated would make it clear Lumina’s boyfriend…. was like Snow And though it wouldn’t be the soul crushing thing it would be if it was her older self… It was definitely still going to mess with her, and Serah couldn’t help but give a inner giggle at that. You reap what you sow Claire!
”Protective…. Hardheaded… heroic…. Sweeps you off your feet… yep~”
On a more stable ground she smiled warmly as Claire gave her thoughts on her dream. She couldn’t get over how nice it was just… talking like this with each other. About there feelings, even about boys. It was all so wonderful… She had a point. They should make the most of the time they were here. She would make a life for her here until Snow found her, and then they both would here as well. But more than that she would see to her sister having a bright and wonderful future ahead of her. She would make for a wonderful mage she was certain of it. And she would make a bright life for herself as well, Serah was going to watch every moment. Every moment Claire more than deserved to have, had always deserved to have. More than anyone else she knew Claire deserved to just live the life of a ‘person’ to know how it feels, to have crushes (please god no) to make mistakes, to have triumphs… to be happy.

Thinking of you, wherever you are I've returned from memories past, reborn from times past
⚡
Hearing the initial requirements for a relationship, Claire nodded as if that were all common sense. All while noting the spending time together part, as something her future self neglected. Just as she was nodding along in agreement, Serah revealed a twist so unexpected, Claire was left gawking. "What does she mean, 'train them'?" Claire thought before thinking of Mog. He certainly did seem pretty 'trained' at times or so the lightning mage reckoned. Other times, not so much if she was honest. Still, a bead of sweat went down her forehead. The idea of imagining a fiance that was 'trained' by Serah, based on what Mog let slip; as well as what she inferred...did.not.compute!
On the flipside, she could compute Teacher Serah's subtle implications. No mischief in her class... She could feel another, bigger bead of sweat go down her temple. Strangely, this too felt just like she'd imagined; a sign that her future self did well. So in turn, she'd really commit to being an angel in her sister's classes. As for the other teacher's though...? Well, they were still up for play! Thus an equally innocent, beaming smile, one reserved for little sisters was shown to confirm she'd be good.
Now then, to be the best, she had to focus upon her lofty ambitions, that of learning every spell in Zephon! Serah could definitely help with this, as could Mog. It felt nice to be able to rely on her sister, her being an adult really made things easier. Places of education would give them more context for this new world, particularly history. There was a lot to consider here, religion, politics, culture, she could tell Serah was going to be really busy in the future. Probably too busy to do her usual household chore of cooking, so it was a good thing she was learning about that. The rest of the household chores, she had years of experience to cover. The rest would be slacking, er training magic and admittedly; playing with Mog.
In turn, that all could be put aside, given how straight forward it was in her mind. The real concern, was what her other self, her twin; whom she did assume was her future self's age, preferred. Alas, the more she heard, the worse it got. She was becoming pale slowly only to hear Serah's whisper. Her complexion was ghastly, spare some colour in her cheeks. "H-how could this be?!" she'd sent plenty of goofballs packing. Her school life, was different from her home life after all. At home, she was responsible and helped with all the chores, releasing the burden for their Mother. Some of that did carry over into her more 'public life' but she was whimsical with a clever tongue and wit. There was no way, she'd ever like a knucklehead. Much as she loved their Father, he was a bit too easy going for her tastes. Though he did have a calming presence, that was good---
"N-no way..." words had finally formed and of course, it was a denial. "Someone so cool and reliable, can't be in love with a guy like that. I won't allow it!" her sisters were silly, she'd almost dare to say crazy. Was this what love did to people? No wonder she avoided it now and even in the future. Maybe her sisters didn't have their heads on straight? Perhaps she should adjust this quiz, make sure it covers good husband etiquette!
Honestly, Claire wasn't even sure of the type of guy she liked. None really compared and her focus was largely elsewhere. She could with certainty, say the type she didn't like or approve of! Thus a veritable thunderstorm seemed to be circling Claire. Eyes half lidden as she meticulously assessed her experiences to date. "MOG! Have you seen this boyfriend's of Lumina? I need a second opinion." she called out, probably sounding a lot like her future self.
"Come to think of it, I'd like to meet my other side soon too. I just can't imagine this without seeing her."

I'm not an army of one
Claire’s reaction to her assessment of proper relationships slightly confuses her, but oh well! Maybe if, whatever it was in her statement put her off, she wouldn’t have to worry about her trying to get a partner for a few more years! Serah smiled, shaking her head. Still… it was also true, Serah had a lot of experience with relationships so if that horrible, terror filled time Serah found someone did come…. She wanted her to be prepared. Meanwhile if Claire looked his way Mog would be seen sitting against a nearby rock, using a nearby leaf to try and act like he was reading something on it. The intention behind it would be clear, and probably not help Claire’ sweating. The intention being ‘No comment, kupo’
On another round of words, Meanie Miss Farron relented when Claire’s smile communicated that she would in fact be a good girl, if the smile didn’t the sweat trailing down her face certainly did. Serah didn’t tolerate that sort of behavior in her class, not even from her sister! All her students knew the kind of classroom she kept, and that would be the case here to. She always wanted the best for her students, because she always believed in there potential to be wonderful people. This was if anything, even STRONGER for her now little sister…. Meaning Claire was going to be in for quite the ride when teaching did begin. Things were going to busy in the coming months and years, Serah was certain of that. She would especially busy getting herself into the position she planned to have. It was good she was helping Claire learn to cook because of this, as she might have to make her own meals from time to time with how busy their lives would be. but it would be worth it, to have their lives set in this new world. As a happy little family of her, Claire, Mog and of course Snow once he found his way to her. She knew for a fact Snow would enjoy helping Claire and wouldn’t mind to much the new world if they were together. Well, other than wanting to gather his friends…. Her family, but she was sure it would all come together, life worked in mysterious ways after all.
Serah perhaps, took to much joy in her sister’s reaction to her newly learned twins relationship situation. Perhaps, she went to far but…. It was just so adorable and fun to see her reaction! Her little freak out was both the cutest thing, and several levels of payback. As her freak out continued Serah gave mock pout and patted her head in a ‘there there’ way, all while trying to stifle her giggle. To her little sister’s denial, she only had two words to say-
”Yes way~”
And she continued her denial Serah giggled at how strongly she did so, even stating she wouldn’t ALLOW it to happen. To this Serah gave a playful giggle before deciding to apply a little brain teaser, cupping her chin in her hand thoughtfully, a quizzical look on her face.
”So, let me get this straight, you won’t allow yourself to go out with a guy you don’t approve of? Hmmmm gee, now how would you react to that sis?”
The answer would, Serah was sure not help Claire’s paleness. Of course, Serah wasn’t truly sure if both her sisters liked the same type of people. Nor did she actually assume Claire would actually like the same type of people she and Lumina did. Not that she would WANTED to find out anytime soon. But when she did eventually get someone…. In a few years, maybe ten. She would absolutely give her full support.
And then Claire called out to Mog who, startled floated (with the fear of god being placed in him as he briefly thought Claire had returned to her previous older self) up from his leaf hideout to address Claire’s questions. In response he gave a nod and Serah, knowing what would be coming did not stop Mog this time.
”Well, yes Kupo, but are you sure?”
Once Claire confirmed she wanted to see it Mog would work his magic. Bringing but an illusionary image of not only Zell, but Snow as well for comparison as Mog had last scene him (Which likely wouldn’t help things even a little bit)
”This is Zell Kupo, and this is the hard h… ahem, brave hero Snow”
Mog corrected himself mid-sentence (and with a hint of sarcasm) with a glare from Serah, then continued, flickering over a girl Claire hadn’t scene yet, but would likely recognize due to her similarity to her and Serah. Yes he was showing Claire the few insistences he had seen of Zell and Lumina together, and there reactions to each other.
”As for my opinion kupo he is… a lot like Snow kupo, I’m afraid the Farron family seems to… drawn towards a certain type of man kupo…. Not that I’m an expert on human relations anyway kupo!’
Mog said the words with genuine downess, feeling for her former master and still current rival and, expecting chaos proceeded to wrap himself in the leaf he had been using before, as a kind of make shift armor that was definantly not going to help him if something happened. Serah meanwhile had a look of sympathy on her face, masking the giggles she had inside. Moving by her sister she patted her bag and gave the final blow.
”It’s ok sis, I’m sure its just a coincidence! It’s only mom… me… another part of you…. That’s no much of a track record right…?”
A more serious in the moment brought things down from there chaotic high however, as Claire spoke of her want to meet her other self. Serah of course had no issue with this at all, heck they were going to have to meet her when they went to use her house anyway right? She was pretty sure Lumina would be curious about Claire as well on top of it all. She nodded her head in agreement, giving a gentle, warm smile.
”Of course Claire! Were going to have to meet with her anyway so we can get settled, and I have that trip with her to, we’ll have plenty of time, I’m sure your both going to have a LOT of questions for each other”
Very different questions between the both of them of course, but still. She hoped the two would be able to get along. She knew it took a long time for that to happen before so… she hoped with things as they were now it would be a lot easier for them.

Thinking of you, wherever you are I've returned from memories past, reborn from times past
⚡
Claire didn't even need a minute to anticipate how Lumina would react. So long as they were one and the same, even if their mutual existence could be compared on a surface level to twins; an audible gulp was given. "I'd rebel against myself..." admittedly, she muttered this defeat but Serah and Mog were certain to hear it. Fortunately, Mog came to the rescue, revealing how these men looked. Leaving a rather quiet, contemplative Claire. Alas, once Mog spoke aloud what Claire seemed to infer, the lightning mage looked even more pale!
Serah effectively drove home the... "track record", in turn Claire raised her left hand to her forehead. "I feel...faint." that was with a large swath of dramatics but it was clear the little big sis was...rendered speechless. "...As long as you're both happy but..." she looked to Mog, a silent twinkle in her eyes. "I'm going to test them both! This Zell just looks like a younger knucklehead, to the older dork of a fiance." carefully her hand moved from her forehead to her chin. From defeat to steady determination and most worriesome for Serah and Lumina; mischief.
"...I'm sure it's fine. We've got stuff to prepare here right? I say we go and get started. I'm a bit sad that things got so bad in my future that I'm now two people. On the other hand, I think if I give it some time, it's not bad to have a twin. I just need to have something fun and good to tell her when the time comes. No problem." Claire didn't need any prompt to know that she had to assuage Lumina's concerns, show that she was different and yet, still knew the lessons her future self learned from their union. Otherwise, Lumina would just do what she'd do in her place: Worry.
"Come to think of it, that trip... Hmm, you should go on it together but not ruin the surprise. She probably still thinks I'm my future self, right? Once you get everything setup in Torrensten, the two of you can come back and I'll have everything ready here. Well, Mog and I will have everything ready. Shouldn't be too hard and I'm just looking forward to getting back to 'school' for now." admittedly, Claire figured Lumina might need some time to digest the news too, even if she wouldn't tell Serah as much. Lumina, from everything she gathered until now; had so much going on in her life. Good things, some anxieties, maybe she even feared the possibility of another merger? Given the work she'd done in Zephon, getting her own house... she could bet Lumina did that for Serah.
