Take Our Hands....
This world was so different from their own. Serah had seen a lot in her own journey, a journey through time, a journey from within Lumina. She had seen so much of her own world across its generations and yet… this world was so different, so much so. Differences down to the core of how the world itself worked, that was shown by the situation they were in now. This world… brought people to it, or rather the beings over it did. Similar to what Etro did to her sister and yet on a different scale. Etro only grabbed her sister, this place grabbed so many other people, from so many other places and times. There were good things about this world… and bad. Right now.. She wanted to focus on the good, she was with her sister right now-and they were handling this all together.
Besides… as much as there were things she disliked here she couldn't deny what they had built here. She couldn't deny there was happiness here for them. Serah wanted to ensure that happiness shined brighter than anything else. Her sister had someone who made her happy, a life that did. She wanted to make sure that happiness stayed firm. She wanted to stand with her sister through all their struggles.
Side by side. Serah frowned, crossing her arms as her sister began her explanation.
”Sorry I wasn’t here sooner sis, all that time before we found each other…. But.. I’m glad you weren't alone at least, I definitely need to thank the ones that helped you! Oooh i know, i'll make them a meal!”
It felt like Etro was by her side? Even in a world not her own? Even though Etro should be… gone.
”Wow really? That’s so… I mean I’m glad, but… such a curious thing, it makes me wonder how…”
Her sister’s approval made her smile, and Serah nodded while placing her hand to the hilt of the Gunblade. Her sister taught her a lot, and she remembered those lessons. She knew when to be ready, but thanks to others in her life she knew when she could enjoy herself. This was a mix, she liked being with her sister-but so to did she know she needed to be ready with everything going on. She would be, this time she would stand by her sister’s side every step of the way. They were strongest that way, strongest when they supported each other. She believed fully what she told that parasite, what she told her sister-No one could stop the Farron family together, nothing in this world, this time, or anything else.
”Of course~ I’ve been through a lot sis, but the foundations you gave me helped me along the way… even if you were so very stern~ Right, there's things to go over…. But first~”
And that was when her ‘attack’ landed, her sister clearly flustered as a result of it, and Serah with her own ‘shit eating grin’ so to speak as a result, unable to stifle the playful laugh that came to her lips as she covered them with her hand. Hey she couldn't help it was true! Her sister might as well play secret agent harder than actors in a movie or play, a hand would go to her hip as her fit calmed down and she gave a knowing, teasing look to her sister.
”You have to admit, you have a track record! No matter the time or the form, you always do! You almost led me to the actual end of our old timeline being secretive!”
She leaned in playfully to her sister’s face as she covered her mouth with the scarf, and. Being the sister that she was there was only one thing she could say, only one thing to dish out on her poor sister.
”I still seeee ittttt~”
She didn’t, but given her sister’s reaction she probably wouldn't think about that, resulting in a resounding CRITICAL HITT! Serah was sure.
Well but then Claire had to go and well… pull a her She loved her sister but she was ether a poet with her wording or an absolute critical fail. There was no in between, literally ever!
”Aghhh did you really have to word it like that? Tomb sis? Really? You could fancy it up a bit? Something! Ahh that sounds so, so… I don’t know the word!”
One could say Serah wasn’t remotely better in that regard given her own excuse for names.
That aside though…
”I get you… it’s weird, I at least was your sister, we are familiar enough with each other it’s not as weird. But anyone else, namely from another world… i can imagine how odd it felt”
Serah flailed her arms a bit, put back by the statement she said next. What? Wait hey WHAT no no she did not want to here her sister talk like that!!!
”You're far too proud to say that! I for one, was in spirit form that whole time, Refuse to acknowledge aging a day! Nope! I am still FIRMLY in the double digits sis, I don’t want to be any man's cougar or whatever! …..wait what does that make Snow….?”
A brief blush crossed the woman's own face before she started on her wedding strike, before she shook her head in her own attempt to shake that away fast! Lucky for her said wedding shot turned things right back the other way and HOPEFULLY outside of noticing her own flustered state and words. On to the bigger subject, the mission. Well she guessed that name did flow better, not nearly as tease worthy but it DID fit well for what they needed. Right she could work with that, she’d make sure to keep it to memory while they.
”Sierra it is now… Hey what….” The suggestion to ‘upgrade’ causes Serah to shake her head in defiance, stamping her foot and crossing her arms.
”Hey hey! This thing knocked a god into the void, A God! With the power of FRIENDSHIP and BONDS! How can you possibly upgrade from that?”
Yes she did emphasize those two words, yes this was her reasoning rather than any actual mechanical feature of the sword. Well she shouldn't have to anyway! This Gunblade had a lot under its belt!
In those serious matters she did have a point. But Serah remembered something else as well.
”Well, Me and Noel could use magic during our journey, I had assumed It just stayed with us from that time, or woke back up….. Do you think it’s not that sis? Oh, if you can use magic again… do you think Odin would answer you? With your abilities as they are… well, you might have to figure out how maybe? I don’t know, it’s so much! It’s hard to know what we can and can’t do at times in this world… What's the extent of the magic we retain? I don’t know… I couldn't summon those guys like you and Snow and the others, I don’t know what to compare”
Serah would nod with a chuckle. Yeah, her training partner was very obvious. It was going to be either Caius or Mog, but Mog was the easier assumption, the little guy would just love the idea of helping his rival get back up to tip top shape she was sure.
”Is he going to become Super Mog?! Warrior Mog! Hmmm Sorry, I couldn't help myself…. Yeah, you should definitely be capable of it. It took…. mmm.. .. a lot, when I had to face you before, I don’t see any reason you shouldn't be able to just… have to figure out the way, oh but leave out the harvest thing, one boss fight with my sister? Enough for several life times”
She brought up the idea of a new weapon again, It wasn’t that Serah was against it. A gift from her sister was a treasure to her. But what was she going to do with her sister’s gunblade? She certainly wasn’t going to leave it lying around. Was Claire wanting it back…? Well, when she knew the parasite was gone that would be an option once she recovered. She trusted Claire, but that thing had experience with her sister’s weapon. If she pulled her little… trick like she did back then… it would be just as much of a struggle.
That said, she couldn't deny the interest in this, it was also true that it would be closer to what she was used to when Mog would turn into a similar weapon for her. She would be far more effective wielding the type of weapon she had the best synergy with.
”Wellll I suppose i could ask your man to hold on to the Gunblade for you in that case, I mean he is reliable enough. I trust him~ My my, Claire you have been so busy~ you showed me some of your stuff before but this deep, It’s really cool you know?” Uh oh, would that be a different kind of critical??
She wasn’t done…
”I mean you’ve put in so much work, I can tell just from what you’ve said, my sister really can do anything if she puts her mind to it! Geez, i’m glad I at least have teaching over you, your just as cool as ever!”
At least you saved your rep with your sister Claire… if you could survive the compliments!
”Honestly… I’d love a weapon all my own. I want to be able to help my family the best I can and I… honestly I like bows more to be honest… it’s kind of awkward firing my Ultima Arrow from a gun barrel, pretty sure it doesn’t land right ether”
She blinked a moment after that, in her mind's eye she saw Young Claire, her sister younger-when she spoke like that. Serah smiled warmly and nodded.
”Yeah yeah~ Teach has gotta little miss! I think…. You’ve been doing wonderful Claire, just wonderful… I really do wish I was amazing as you sometimes, I mean…. You’ve got so many talents, you know? Remember when I tried to join your squad after you joined up? You and that commander guy just wouldn't let it happen! But I remember I snuck to watch your training a few times, this… that… Sis…. don’t let anyone tell you your not the amazing person you are”
Then just like that in a flash she grabbed hold of her sister’s hand and winked, her smiled bright.
”And yes that goes double for you saying you're not! In fact, triple! Now come on, I need a cool new weapon~ and you’ve got a lot more to show right?”
A pure bright smile for her sister, happiness radiating from her.
Yeah… she loved being by her side like this, more than anything~!

Told You We'd Meet Again
”Were together…”
Vanille held her close, The warmth of a friend helping her to begin calming down. For her Vanille was a treasured friend. A friend from her world at last after all this time. Her heart could burst, she couldn't help but let her feelings flood out. But Vanille was right, she didn’t need to cry. Tears only brought people down. This wasn't a time to be sad, it was a time to be happy. This was a time for them to cheer and celebrate and everything else imaginable! Yet she still was shaking in her friend's arms, those tears of happiness having stained her face.
”Sorry it's just… I haven't seen anyone else from our home but sis since we got here, I guess I just.. I’m happy, it’s a bit overwhelming to finally… see someone”
Her tears were wiped away by her friend, bringing a smile to the pinkette’s face. Eyes gently closed for a moment as she giggled before opening them once more. Vanille was a kind person, she just let her let it all out. Just sit there without question. Despite how silly it must be to be like this. She should be bringing Vanille to meet her sister again, she should be helping her to understand this world if she didn’t, letting her know her sister’s current state so she wouldn't be surprised. There were so many things she should be doing and yet in the end all she wanted to do was just be…. Happy. Happy that a friend was here that she was familiar with. Someone from before.
Maybe more would come, maybe Snow would come after all.
But more than anything she was just so…so happy to have Vanille, to have a great friend like her here.
She was happy, and that felt great.
She smiled, that oh so familiar smile, that Vanille would be familiar with. A smile that could light anything up, a smile that drove others to keep going.
But for Serah it was just a smile, just that she was happy, she was oh so happy. Finally she could look up to her friend and just… well smile, she could let the happiness she felt simply show in fullness as she looked up to Vanille.
”Thank you Vanille… you really are a great, wonderful friend you know? I’m so happy to see you again”
She took a deep breath and gently let it flow out, she was stable now, she could maintain herself without breaking down from her relief, her joy.. Everything. She could focus now on what she needed to thanks to her friends' comfort.
”But Vanille…. We should focus on you. If you don’t mind me asking… How long have you been here? What… is the last thing you remember before coming…?”
Something they were both good at, worrying about other people instead of themselves….

Take Our Hands....
”Oh sureeee your hero gets a pass, if it was Snow you’d have a whole fit about it!”
Serah giggled playfully at her sister’s words. She couldn't help herself. It was so adorable to her, yet the irony! She was so happy and yet she couldn't escape the chance even now. Still… she was happy someone like Caius was the one by her side. The kind of person to never abandon her, to stand by her through the fires of the world, the good and the bad.
Like Snow would for her
Yeah it really was… just wonderful.
Speaking of chances to tease her sister? Was that a smugness to Serah’s face? Why yes it was! With a spin to the food on her fork she smiled. Oh yes, It was nice to be able to focus on happier points, to be able to play with her sister.
”My Sister? Vulnerable? Not running head long into a monster hoard? Couldn't be!”
Though she teased, she put a hand to her sister’s shoulder in the same motion as she finished her bite. She liked to be able to have fun with her sister, but at the same time…. It was ok to be that way sometime. Sometimes it was ok to let other people care about you, to do the caring about you instead of the other way around. She got that warmness from Snow, Her Hero. She got it from her sister to. From her friends…. She knew from experience that it was ok to want to be strong, but it was just as important to let yourself be vulnerable at times.
”It’s ok to let others take the reins sometimes sis, there are things we all need to do and… it's ok to be vulnerable, it’s ok to need others, you know? The three of us well.. We’ll support each other, without fail”
She smiled warmly, speaking in a matter of fact tone.
”I choose to believe in us, like always! Caius is right… there's a time for everything, and we’ll do this together”
To Mog’s expression she gave a sigh, but chuckled nonetheless. She knew it. Mog was always like that. Her sister was Mog’s ‘Eternal Rival’ so of course, naturally Mog was interested in her being strong again. Even if such was counter to Mog actually beating his former master like he wanted to. Of course… he was sure Mog also cared about her too, so it was a nice little mix. it didn’t make Serah mad, she just knew it was the case. She wanted peace, she wanted them all to just… be able to live out their lives with each other as a family. But… she wasn’t the naive girl anymore who was just hoping for that would make it happen.
But she could hope for it none the less, they could work towards that dream together. For that…. As much as she wished her sister never had to pick up a weapon again, she couldn't deny her right to be prepared, it would be no better than how she was treated before meeting Snow. It was the right thing to do, she knew that, hard as it was to accept. Now if they could just get a certain meddlesome roach.
”Thank you sis, and Mog… it’s fine~ You did right, as usual, seeing where we don’t want to… your a great friend you brave little Moogle you~ …Hmph, maybe I should as snow to spar with me if he shows up….. I feel like that might have happened during my journey through time, but it’s a bit hazy… plus that Arbiter guy was so confusing to begin with”
That said it didn't stop her from pouting, and crossing her arms, both at that thought and others as she put her fork down for a moment.
”Still, that's good to know sis~”
She smiled warmly as at her sister's look. It was good to know truly, she accepted such things were inevitable, even more so with the things they were doing through right now. Her sister fought so much, she fought for everyone. So she couldn't help but what a peaceful life for her. As far as she was concerned but she and Snow had long since clocked in to much overtime.
”That's like you, you know I'll always want you by my side! Your my dearest sister! …You know, just preferably not for fighting. …If it's needed though, if it's something we have to do…”
A smile turned once more, as she nodded.
”I’d love nothing more than to stand by your side”
She chuckled.
”But that's only if we need to!”
She gave a teasing smirk, giving a tut tut with her hands.
”I don't know! You might need more training if you ask me, don't worry Caius! I'll give her the secret Farron wife training course to make sure she's ready!”
There was no such course, Serah just wanted to tease. Serah of course had always been the type to care for others, namely her sister and ther e home. Not that Clairity coudnt do these things-but she was less experienced… well, she had likely gotten better sense coming here, and she would make sure her sister was ready all together!
”Well, as long as it's not household duties”
She gave a wink back to her sister.
Serah was satisfied her teasing had worked its course when her sister was sent to eating to avoid answering, electing a smile from her.
Serah sighed, crossing her arms once more.
”To be honest sis I'm even less of a fan of Divine intervention being involved…
Perhaps she sounded like a grump, but Serah, her sister… all their friends. They didnt have good experiences with gods handling things. Maybe that's why Claire was worried to, she couldn't blame her. What if it was like last time? Would they have to go through everything again?
”...But your right, we do need to get to the bottom of this, I want to know what's going on to… each of us, i think do, were going to figure this all out”
She tapped her chin in thought as Caius explained his own theory on everything. It made a lot of sense to Serah, but she knew why her sister had doubts in that area, at least partly.
”That does make a lot of sense… If i’m right sis is worried because… She’s been through something similar before, from a different angle. Your…. Worried the situation will end up like it did before right? Only this time it’s…. different”
She smiled weakly, lightly, and shook her head.
”But, no matter what, were family, come what may.. That will never change, ok?”
She sighed, Caius explaining things made it seem like it was so simple, but… it still made her head hurt! All that teaching experience but something like this still gave her a migraine!
”I thought our world was complicated…. But this place just has it’s set of confusion…. It’s like a more complicated version of the Arbiter’s Coliseum. Just….. Next world, I demand a simple set up! Jeez…”
But more than that, Serah gave a half frown, half smile
”Yeah.. I think your right, I really want you to be right Caius”

Take Our Hands....
All she knew was that something was wrong.
All she knew was that her sister was worried.
“Come on now Caius, up and at em”
Worried she was that he was in serious danger, dying even. Her ring said something was really, really wrong. So of course Serah came, Caius was a good friend of hers after all. She had come fully equipped, ready to fight off anything that might have been bringing him harm.
But… Well, that wasn't what she came upon. Caius was fine, physically that is. Mentally? Emotionally? Anything but. Of course he tried to act as if he was fine. Really she expected nothing less from the man than to try and not put his burdens on others. It was very much like the man she had come to know. Serah of course wasn't having any of that, she knew how to handle men like this after all.
“Right, look we both know either I'm bringing you back, or Claire's going to stomp out here herself and drag you back! So… come on, let's go”
Stubborn hero that he was it took some doing, but the man would relenet. As they went, Serah couldn't help but observe. He was a mess, whatever happened while he was gone it was enough of an emotional whiplash to alert Claire’s ring. She didn't know what happened to Caius, she didn't know if it was her place to pry, least of all before they were back with Claire at the cabin.
Well, she could at least offer comfort right?
“We're here for you, you know? Claire and me, no matter what's wrong… were going to help you get through it Caius, we’ll be by your side all the way”
She offered a warm smile to accompany her words. He was going through much, that was clear. Serah wanted to help, she truly did. She didn't like seeing Caius like this, in this clearly marred state. Soon they would be back at the Cabin, and soon Claire would find her way there as well. Serah was sure, given how worried she was, it would be in no time after they got there, if she wasn't there when they arrived!
She would do her best to support the man along the way, whether by words or supporting his travel. Eventually they would make it back to the cabin, the place she and Caius first met under… not the best Introductions. Now though it was a place to give comfort. Serah would do her best to offer a warm hand, offer him a spot to sit .. something to drink… and of course she maintained a smile of warmth to help soothe her friend.
“She'll be here any second, heh… you should have heard her! ‘I'M COMING RIGHT NOW, GET HIM THERE NOW!’ yep… if I had to guess she'll be right any… oh there she is, sis he's over here!”
She’d wave towards the door-welcoming in her likely frantic sister.
Yeah, they’d see Caius through this, without fail.

Told You We'd Meet Again
“Vanille…?”
She couldn't help but think that her eyes were playing tricks on her. Other than her and her sisters she had yet to see anyone from her world since coming here-she had been here for years snow but… nothing. She had made friends, met people and seen several places. She got a teaching job to help the kids learn and grow here.
And yet, seeing the person before her it was still hard to believe, it was hard to process. She blinked, rubbing her eyes as if trying to make sure, Absolutely sure that it was her.
Fang and Vanille were heroes in her eyes.
After all it was through there sacrifice that everything kept going, the world kept turning thanks to them-it was thanks to them that she and the rest kept going.
It was because of their support, that she was able to break free of her trappings in a dream, save noel… and again keep going. They were both wonderful people, friends she treasured.
”Serah, do you think we’ll meet again?”
You'll know what to say when you see your friend again, I promise
She remembered their conversation, that time on the beach. That drop in time they had together. So many things said then made so much more sense now-on both ends she was sure. Vanille and her first met on a beach and, unknowingly to ether helped support each other even then. Each helped the other with the problems they were facing. It was ironic she supposed, and no wonder she thought she was seeing things.
“Vanille, is that you?”
Here on a beach once more, what were the odds? It seemed it was destiny for beaches to be the meeting place, time and time again. Because the closer she got, the more it became clear. It couldn't be anyone else, it was not an illusion to fade unto the wind.
No, that was her friend Vanille.
It was her turn to fall to her knees as she ran up to her old friend, much like Vanille had to her so long ago. Tears flowed from the pinkette’s eyes as the realization fully dawned on her. She was here, someone from her world was here, a good friend… Vanille was here.
Yes, they had met again
Too happy was she to consider anything else, she didn't care right now from what point in her memories Vanille was from. She didn't care if it was just after their first meeting, before… from the time they sacrificed themselves or there time in the new world.
No, all she cares about was the fact Vanille WAS here. With everything she had been going through recently, all her sister had gone through. What they had all gone through.
More than anything, she was happy. Just happy to see Vanille. So she looked up, her eyes stained by tears and hands holding Vanille’s own. Tears of happiness were hers.
“You're not a hallucination.. you're really here! I…I'm sorry I just… I just….”
She couldn't help herself, the relief was to great, her emotions overflowing.
“I'm just, so happy, so happy to see you Vanille, it's been so long since I've seen someone from our world, Just me and my sister…. I…”
She was a mess, a complete mess, but not in a bad way… Serah was relived to the point her happiness went full tilt the other way.
After all the negativity and pain in her life lately-she was happy, more than happy to see the face of Vanille.
She took a deep breath trying to adjust herself, pulling herself back to her feet.
“Ah… I'm sorry, I'm sorry, you could be so confused right now and I'm just… jumping on you like this, ah… Vanille, how long have you been here? Do you need help? Were both here , my sister and me!”

Take Our Hands....
The bug was the only thing wrong really, now that she thought about it. The bug and her missing Snow. Otherwise life in this world was wonderful, a world where her sister could be happy, could be herself. That was really all Serah wanted, for her sister to be happy. For all of them to just be able to live a nice life, without something ruining it at every turn.
A nice, peaceful life where they just…. Did what people should. Love, love, learn… just.. live.
It was why a moment like this made her happy, a moment she and her sister could just be together, where she could learn some of the things she had been doing. And she could do so in the outfit that her sister, as promised had recently made for her. Her sister has spared nothing when it came to making it for her of course, that's just how she was. However that did not mean that what was made was a diamond studded gown, or posh womans gard, No she had made sure to make the outfit the best fit for Serahs herself, and, especially when compared to something Claire might wear that gave off a considerably different vibe.
It was one she loved all the same, her sister had made in her eyes the perfect garb for her. Casual, yet fit for if she did need to pursue combat. It was comfortable, nice and flowing… and suitable to her role as a teacher. Her Gunblade sat strapped at her side for ease of access, and her cherished knife in a strap upon her thigh.
Despite her teasing Claire would be able to cleslry see her sister marveling at the technological sights as they entered
”We’ve definitely been in much worse places haven't we? I have to agree… I'm glad we ended up hear”
She chuckled playfully before sighing, she crossed her arms and gave her sister a teasing look.
”Soooo the more things change, the more they stay the same, whether it's homelife, traveling through time, or going to another world my sister is ever the secretive girl huh? Let's hear it then~! Least I didn't have to reach the end of time this go round”
She nudged her sister in the shoulder playfully, as if it wasn't clear enough she was only playing around and giving her sister a ‘hard time' that would make it more so. She just couldn't help it. Moments like this were rare together these days. She was going to take it seriously of course but… she wanted to have her sister time to.
Upon being told to call her Clarissa, and Claire's own acknowledgement of the name situation Serah would roll her eyes, chuckling.
”That's certainly one way to put it, that's like… the third one here? Probaly more… heh, ok, your my dear sister Clarissa here~ no no~ I won't be hiding that part though sweet, dear sister Clarissa”
She then leaned in whispering in her sister's ear.
”Though you could have been a bit more imaginative sis… there all pretty close to each other you know? Maybe I should be Serahneta?”
She couldn't help but be playful, laughing.
”But no, I understand sis, will do~”
Nothing her sisters brief frown she quickly put a warm hand to her shoulder, offering a gentle smile. As if to say ‘its all ok’
”After all….”
She'd put her own hand to Claire’s hand, spreading it out with a smile.
”My sister, betrothed! I tell you sis, I NEVER thought I'd see the day! Much less before you gave me away at my wedding!”
When they came to there floor she did notice nameplate, and coudnt help one lass quip.
Serahneta Fairborn has a nice ring if you ask me~”
She then paused, finally turning more serious. The look she gave her sister was warm, yet also stern.
”Even as a teacher I .. don't know where to start sis… everything, anything still hidden.. I need to know, no more secrets, please”

A New Storm....
Was it wrong to call it a family dinner? Clarity and her were of course, but she wanted to include Caius in that statement as well. He was a kind man who had already done so much for them. He helped Claire, and Clarity. He really did remind her of Snow in so many ways. Ways that made her jealous, that the man she loved couldn't be here with her right now. The man who would do things like this for her in a heart beat. The man who could look god in the face and punch him if it meant saving her, or travel through time itself simply on her own beliefs.
Yes, it made her jealous but... more than that... it made her happy.
Happy that her sister had someone like that in her life. Happy that she had her own 'Snow', someone who would do everything in his power to protect her, keep her safe. There were so few people who ever looked to her sister's happiness.
Whether that be when she was little...
When she was grown....
Or anything in between.
So part of her was jealous, she couldn't deny that feeling nor could she help it, more than anything she wished Snow was by her side right now. But more than that she was happy, oh so happy for Clarity.
Because people like Snow and Caius? They were one in a million. People who would go to the ends of the earth to see the people they care for safe.
Maybe that.... was why her worries lessened some. Perhaps that was why no matter what that bug would do in the future, no matter much she broke down, or blamed herself-she would know there was someone else there, someone else who wanted her to be happy. Someone else who wanted 'Clarity' 'Lighting' Lumina' Someone who wanted that girl for all that she was to smile.
That could keep her going, that would see her to the end.
Caius was family at this point, in that sense. Everything that led to this point.... Serah had no problem making that statement. So she wanted him to feel at home, like part of the family-Serah smiled.
"Yeah let's eat! I think you'll enjoy it, family meals are the best!"
It was hard not to worry so much. It really was, Because it seemed like every time they came close to having a peaceful life someone new came to try and use her sister in some way or some form. Cocoon, the Goddess Etro, Bhunivelze and now this parasite that wont let her go. Every time, they wouldn't leave her alone, they wouldn't leave ANY part of her alone! It was like the world looked at any chance for her sister to be happy and just went Nope, not happening Why? Why even now, when she could have her own partner, when she could just.... live her life, did the world continue to deny to her?
It just.... it just wasn't fair
How could she not worry about that? How could she not worry about the sister she cared about so much?
She just.... wanted her sister to be able to be happy. She didn't want her sister to fight anymore. Of course she understood having to overcome your demons but.... coudnt she do that by just.... Using the Farron family spirit? That would be nice, really. But with the way these things usually went.... she doubted it could be so simple.
She didn't see any way she could just... not worry, how she could dispel them so easily. But.... her sister's smile despite it all. The feeling it caused in her, is that how she felt when the situation was reversed? Her sister was one of the two people she believed in more than anything. Somehow in that smile she wore she could see an ending to this where they smiled despite what had happened so far, she could see the end point where they all had fun on some beach somewhere, or anywhere really.
She could see... a happy ending, so thats why she could smile, smile and go forth with there dinner!
On that note? Caius' reactions to her excitement were just adorable, it showed his lack of experience in this area, but she just couldn't help it!
"Don't worry Caius~ you'll get used to it in time!"
And so they sat down to there dinner, something that funnily enough wasn't as cold as it should be by now, if anything it was getting warmer. Huh... that was nice, really nice! She listened closely to Clarity's words. She wasn't so sure how she felt about her looking into the Parasite's memories, there was no telling how the thing could use that to its advantage. On the other hand... Claire was strong, she didn't see her being brought down in a mental fight to easy. Besides.... That bug didn't deserve the satisfaction of seeing her more worried. More than that though... she owed it to her to give her a happy dinner, for them all to just... enjoy themselves. So she wouldn't bring up her sore thoughts on that subject, at least for now.
There was always another time right?
Besides, something else caught her attention....
I'm counting on you
A simple statement that filled her with confidence, a statement that increased her resolve. He was counting on her...? yeah, she would keep her sister safe, no matter what-and they would get rid of the thing plaguing her to.
"Thank you, I won't let you down Future Brother in law I'm counting on you to~"
Yes, yes she did fit a bit more playfulness in there, she had to-but it also showed how she felt. She had come to trust this man. She believed he would find help for this, even if he couldn't.... it didn't change anything. She knew he wouldn't give up-the three of them WOULD get through this together. It seemed Caius shared her concerns about the bug, so perhaps she wouldn't need to bring it up at all...
And then Caius proceeded to make a statement that Serah, in all her esteemed big sister, big mean teacher energy had somehow not even remotely considered. Serah had assumed that, because Clarity was not currently in possession of the gunblade on her back that clearly there was no way she could be sneaking off to do training, or sparring or anything.
She had no considered that Claire could just get a weapon to train with whenever she pleased, or that Mog Might pull a MOG and just start helping his rival keep herself sharp.
.......She wanted to be the younger sister again.....
Well, it's not like she could just make her not fight, it was better she stay trained anyway, more so if she enjoyed it. Just because SHE wanted her not to have to fight anymore didn't mean it was what she wanted after all, she needed to respect that to...
Personally, I wouldn't be surprised if she was sparring with Mog to, He does so love those matches~"
A knowing look Mog's way, before returning to her sister.
Trapped in a loop? was that possible? Different from what the others experienced but... It would explain a lot. It would explain little Claire's state, why she was how she was now and...
"It explains your state.... and hers... Claire's just after mom.... and your..."
The idea that they could be copies bothered Serah, and she gripped her hands together.
"Were not copies, were us, your real, I'm real... were all real, sis. I'm Serah, your Clairity and he's Caius. were all us... that's what matters"
Serah then rubbed her temple, remembering SO many memories from the other possibility Serah was bringing up.
"I... Really want to assume it's not time travel, I have had... way more than enough time travel for SEVERAL life times! ahhh..."
She sighed, taking more bites of her meal.
"Still... different points in our lives... that feels a little... to eerily fitting from what we can see... It shows how me, you and her can all be here like... this..."

I'm not an army of one
Ever felt like there was nothing you could do?
Like no matter how hard you try, the happiness you want was still just out of reach.
Like you knew what you needed to do, but everything leading to it still tore your heart apart.
Like maybe, just maybe you were just making things worse.
Like maybe you were the problem.
Mom would know what to do, Sis would know what to do. But me? I never know what to do, I can never see things through right, I always make a mistake somewhere
She made a mistake, and became a statue.
She made a mistake, and her sister slipped through her fingers.
She made a mistake, and the world came tumbling down.
She made a mistake, and her sister was undone.
She made a mistake, and now that sister didn't even remember who she was.
Why was someone like me the one to keep my memories? There were a million better options right? Lighting... Lumina... everyone else... I just keep messing up, again and again
You could forget to, you know, If you just...
.............
..........
..............
No... not now... at the least not... yet...
Little Claire tried to poke, a few times to the almost mute zombie that was her older sister. To see what was wrong.
How do you explain that anyway? 'Oh she just forgot us that's all'
Let it all go, you can be free~ so free
She leaned against a wall, just outside the Dragonblades headquarters. Claire, the smaller Claire that is-was at school, but Serah herself couldn't teach today. Not just because of everything going on, mentally she was of no use to teach anyone, anything.
Would probably just mess it up anyway, like everything else
She sighed, put a hand to her face as she wiped away another tear, they were coming pretty frequently now. What kind of Guardian was she that the person she was supposed to be protecting already forgot her? Claire protected her all her life. As she grew up, As her soul slumbered... everywhere, every time. But the first time she needed that protection in turn....
She slumped back against the wall, rubbing her arm as she looked up to he sky, her face wet at this point from her crying.
What kind of useless... pathetic person can't even keep there sister safe?
"Maybe... maybe..."
Yes
"Would she be better off without me....? without me just making things... worse and worse..."
Yes
She eyed Lighting's knife in her hands... and the tears flowed free once more.

A New Storm....
In the end all the 'daughter' wanted was for the 'mom' to be happy. But her words would soon become more serious.
She wanted Claire and Clarity to be happy.
And she would do whatever she needed to make that happen. To be free, and to live the life they chose. She beat that parasite once-and she would do it again.
Yeah that's right, that smile. she'd do whatever it took to secure that smile. Her sister's smile was a treasure she wanted to maintain. Here Claire and Lumina smiled so much more than they ever had-she wanted that to continue-she wanted it to continue on to forever.
For her sister she'd gladly be a Hero or even a Heretic
Whatever it took, to ensure she could continue to smile like this, be happy like Clarity was with Caius, like Claire was living her Teen years.
"No waiting, only going sis! You've got your circle! a family here, right? It's about time you got to be happy, It's about time you were allowed to do all the smiling you let me do- you kept me safe, and now-im gonna do the same! ooooh I can not WAIT to be on the other side of this this time, Ahhh i can give you all my relationship experience advice... this is happening!"
Her focus turned to such a happy moment despite her worries. Things like this she had dreamed of, being able to help her sister get ready for dates, talk about a boy, or boys they liked. Well they were both taken now but they could talk about THEIR boys still, yes! She wanted to get into this as soon as possible.
It was all the more reason for the bug to become dust on the wind
Her smile turned into a grin as Mog made his declaration, good! She was sure Caius would fit in, especially with Mog's help. Serah smiled brighter, that grin turning back to Caius as she held firm.
"I can let go if you like, Caius, buuuuut you might have to get used to this kind of thing, I can be quite affectionate like this when I'm happy! Claire to! That's little Claire I mean, but I'm sure...."
Her gaze then turned right back to Lumina as well, that smile seemingly endless.
"My sister here will be to in time! Right sis~"
A gentle, teasing touch. After all the pinkette didn't have the rest of this, she didn't know the conflict-as far as she knew they just had feelings for each other and Serah was all about her sister finding someone like Caius and being happy! one hundred and ten percent!
During the entire time Caius made his talk to them, asking for them to be safe, declaring his determination to find something while he was gone, making clear his stubbornness to do so. Serah, now the three of them separate had her hands clasped together, constantly giving looks, happy looks back Lumina's way. Those kind of looks that say 'see? your hero?' 'He's great you know!' those kind of looks that.... well, the looks of a sister filled with glee over her sister having her very own Hero
That said she wouldn't ignore Caius, of course not.
"We'll be safe, I promise Caius, and I'll keep Clairity safe for your return to~"
She couldn't help her smile, she was so happy! But despite that happiness she would turn serious.
"Thank you, Caius, I believe in you. I promise-We'll stay safe to, I'll make sure of it. We'll be safe when you return"
She pulled her sister once more to her side, and smile.
"Were the sisters Farron after all, nothing can stop us when we put our mind to it! Nothing"

A New Storm....
Was it so hard for things to go right? Was it so wrong for things to just… be peaceful and happy? They earned their happy ending, again and again. But everytime, something came up once more. Why? Could they not be allowed to smile for just a while? A normal life, a normal everyday life. That was all she wanted. To spend her life with Snow, To see little Claire off to school every day. To watch her once older sister to enjoy the life of freedom she deserved.
In Cocoon
In New Bodhum
And now here
It seemed like pain always followed, it seemed like it always took a new form.
Hey Mom, what would you do right now?
Hey Mom, I don’t know what to do
Hey Mom, I wish you were here instead
Because you…. Would know what to do right?
Cause you taught big sis
And She was the best big sister in the world
Your a fool, is what you are, if you had any sense you’d have used me instead of Clarity, You can weave a web of lies, you can be a pretender if that's what you wish. You can use her body to make me cry, to make a fool out of me… but there's one thing that wont change little bug, no matter how hard you try-I can see it
Her mental body shook, obviously nervous, obviously in pain. But there was something else in there. The one thing she could always believe. And that brought the slightest of smiles to her face.
You worm your way into people's hearts, but you couldn't understand them less if you tried, not truly. I can say that with certainty because if you did… You’d stay as far away as possible from any version of my sister, any incarnation, any age.
Yeah….. That’s something i know, even if everything else changes, even if I have to struggle till the ends.. No matter how much this all hurts
She shook her head, and gave a deep sigh.
”So don’t come crying to me when she punches you in the face herself, little bug”
That part was said out loud, and the meaning was clear.
She did loathe the gods, she held not the least bit of love for them. If anything she despised them. They used everyone like puppets in their game. They brought people here, sometimes fragmented, sometimes whole. On their little chessboard and expected them to fight for their cause.
It was only because of those gods meddling that her sister was in this situation to begin with.
You really just… really like to twist and twist…. Bugs do like to squirm, especially the most disgusting of them. To spread… just… shut up, i don’t want to… help you, so leave me alone, YOU DON’T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT US!!!
But there was no denying that hate for the gods was in her, hate for the bug as well. For everything that just… wouldn't leave them alone. She absentmindedly gripped her chest at its parting words, and tears fell from her eyes. She had meant every word she said to that thing, but that didn’t make any of this any easier. It didn’t mean she wasn’t cracked and hurting inside.
Her breathing was heavy, but the hand of a friend made things easier. A little… more than that actually? It almost felt like a shield, a shield blocking something from getting inside her. that something, She couldn't help but smile, genuinely this time at the thought of that bug being thwarted. Perhaps it was childish, but even being denied this in its calculated little plan… made her feel good.
As for her sister? It hurt to have it kept from her, to not be the first person her sister leaned on. But it hadn’t been long… And her sister was doing what she wanted for herself. She wanted her sister to enjoy a life all her own after everything she had done, she deserved that.
”I’m… I’m sorry, it’s really ok, I shouldn't let this get to me I just.. Remember.. It’s always been… us, It’s… hard for me to shake it to, you know?”
She gave a weak laugh, clearly everything was still getting to her. And then… Lumina revealed the rest, and it made Serah grip her hands tightly together, her eyes quickly going form her sister to Caius, and back again.
”You…. You to. Clarity, you, with him? But he’s always.. He’s always…! You expect me… in such a short… Wait, it’s not because of that thing…”
The echo from a memory from down a hall played in her mind. She ran off then, when Lightining wouldn't believe her, wouldn't trust in her. Her hands shook.
The memory, an echo, tears came down her eyes.
You're shutting her out! She’s your sister!
”Clarity…..”
Fine, I’ll do it, I’ll protect her
She listened to both Lumina and Caius, she took in every word they said. She gave them the care she wished Lightning had given her all that time ago. The situations were something like mirrors. But she wouldn't repeat the cycle. She wouldn't repeat the mistakes.
”Sis….”
She paused again for a moment, her eyes still looking towards the ground… and then…. And then…?
She crossed the distance between her and her sister, and pulled her into a tight hug. She held her close and with care, giving her sister all the security she needed. Then she looked up to her, looked her in the eyes….
And she smiled.
”I’m happy for you, I’m so… so.. Happy for you. After everything, after all of…. All I’ve wanted is for you to be able to be happy, both of you. Her and you…. I just want you to have the lives you never could.. Ehehe… You’ve come a long way you know~ Look at my big sis, All grown up and taking stoic heroes on dates!”
Her playful gaze first lingered on Lumina with the hero comment, then Caius as well as she giggled, then she pulled from the embrace she and her sister shared, and took that all important knife from her pocket, her sister’s knife, her sister’s gift to her.
”It’s my turn then, Caius is right. I already intended this but… I’m going to make it official now”
She held that knife up, a knife that all but one being present would soon be able to appreciate.
But she didn’t care about that thing, she hoped it bothered it.
”I promise to keep you safe Clarity, not just through this, but from now. You kept me safe from a young age. You’ve kept me safe all my life, I mean… you quite literally carried my spirit in you to protect me!” Grinning from ear to ear she took her sisters hands in her own and continued.
”You have your Hero, you have your Snow, so let me be your ‘Lightning’ your Guardian, sis. I’ll keep you safe, no matter what. I swear it upon this knife. And I won’t take no for an answer!”
In the next moment she moved over a bit, just enough to grasp Caius’ arm and pull him over to them, pulling both close in a hug.
Man, If Caius wasn’t used to Lumina’s boldness, this certainly wasn’t helping any!
”Be happy together, you both deserve it. But you listen here! If you hurt my sister, me and Mog will get you Caius, you hear???”
Yes, yes she was including Mog in that!
She then, a little more solemnly nodded her head, giving a light laugh, and spinned the three of them, still linked together around in circles!
”We’ll get through this together, I know it… I choose to believe in us”
