Monori had taken the flyer from Celes and after getting away from her and Alex the infuriating man she had slipped back into an alley and pulled up a dull brown cloak around herself. Tucking her tail away as she pulled the cloak around herself she pulled the hood up and began her way through the City. Slowly making her way across the city and to the location of the clinic as Celes had instructed her on its locations. She could not help but smile as the building was not audacious nor gaudy in any manner. Instead it was a simple building with a gentle sloping roof and gentle lights leading the way toward a central main entrance. It was a nice reminder of similar buildings back in the Lavender Beds back in Gridania. .
Knocking upon the door proper she felt the door slowly open as she made contact with it. This struck the Miqo'te as unusual and she would grasp the cane off her back and slowly open the door. Sure it was the middle of the day but she was not expecting a clinic of all things to have a door that was just so easily openable and without a soul sitting at the desk that she saw in front of her as she used the metal tip of her cane to close the door behind her. As she made the motion the cloak would get caught in the door and would slip off as it closed itself. With a deep sigh she realized this as the door only made a light noise as it closed behind her due to the buffet from the cloak's fabric.
Her ears sprung up and her tail fell out from around her waist as she could not hide the bright ruby red of her coat anymore and she decided to just speak out loudly. "Hello is anyone here? Miss Yuna if you are here I have been sent here by a fellow companion of yours. A Miss Celes Chere was seeking one of knowledge of healing arts to assist you. Are you here?"
As she spoke Monori used the end of her staff to pull the cloak toward herself as she stood there in the middle of the lobby for the clinic. Standing there after pulling the cloak to herself she would have her staff standing proud as she stood at her full height with no slouch of pressure or pretense. Instead she was ready to meet the one that was a healer for the people as that was something she respected. People who worked selflessly to help.
[attr=class, bulk] The afternoon was usually a slower time at the clinic for Yuna, since most people were working or had other obligations. In her experience, there was usually an early morning rush and an evening rush, which left her a few hours in between to catch her breath. At the moment, she was down to just one patient—a coeurl had apparently wandered close to the city limits and had managed to petrify one of the farmers bringing their crops in for trade. Yuna had no idea how his friends had managed to carry him all the way to her, since the statue must have weighed a ton. Hopefully they’d made use of a cart and several chocobos. Either way, it didn’t seem like the time to ask, so the summoner just ushered them back into the exam room.
“Esuna,” she murmured over the frozen man after a quick check to make sure that he was intact. It would have been far dicier if anything had broken in transit, but thankfully this one was just a quick spell to fix the status effect. Light washed over him, and the stone surface quickly melted away until the man gasped and slumped backwards onto the table behind him. Yuna smiled slightly and moved out of the way as the three men who had brought him rushed over to talk to him. It was actually good timing—she could hear the tingle of a bell in the lobby which meant that someone had walked in the front door.
“Please, take your time. I’ll be right back—My front office person is out today.” Technically she didn’t have a full-time one yet, but Celes had apparently met some promising candidates, so she hoped to change that in the next week or two. The blonde general said she’d encountered some white mages who had seemed interested too, which would be great for those days when they were completely swamped.
Speaking of, a woman called out as Yuna turned back towards the lobby, and she had apparently been sent by Celes. Picking up the pace to greet her, the summoner shut the exam room door behind her and turned towards the front of the clinic instead. A dark-skinned woman with blue and violet streaked hair stood tall with her staff at attention and a cloak at her side. Coming from Spira, Yuna was fairly used to meeting people of different species—her guardian Kimahri had been one of the cat-like Ronso after all. She had never met anyone quite like this woman though with furry ears on top of her head and a red tail curling around her legs.
Yuna blinked for just a moment before smiling brightly and stepping forward to meet her. “Yes! You’re in the right place, I’m Yuna. Thank you so much for coming all this way.” Out of habit, she gave the woman a bow. Even if the church of Yevon had been proven to be a sham, it was still ingrained in the summoner as the respectful thing to do when first meeting someone. Afterward, she straightened up and gave the stranger’s staff a curious look. “White magic seems to be pretty rare in Zephon. Does that mean you’re from another world too?”

Monori could not help but blink as the brunette came half running half jogging out from the back of the clinic. If she had to guess this would be the place that the patients were inside of. So that was a place that she noted in her mind as one that she would need to memorize its location. Though the formality that she was seen was something that she had only seen in her travels in Doma. The bow was quickly returned from Monori as she always learned that if one bowed to you you returned it. Well that is what Hien and Gosetsu had told her when she asked about the practice while in Shirogane. As she bowed she spoke up and responded to Yuna’s first quick words.
“It is not a problem Miss Yuna. I did not have much to do around here and the savings of one's life waits for noone.” She responded and got back to her standing position shortly before Yuna had. The grip on her staff only loosened a little as she knew that unlike the last time she interacted with a Dragonblade there would not be a loudmouthed man there to infuriate her and make her contemplate using her lance upon them. Yet her attention was fully back upon Yuna as she caught the gaze upon her Allag Staff that she carried. True it was a unique thing and that is why Monori loved it. That and it was a memory of the first adventure she had ever had with Graha Tia. So that was the main reason she loved the staff. She was quickly asked if she was from another world and she nodded toward Yuna.
“I am from Etheryis. A land of many peoples, many races, and many stalwart souls that I miss every day. I hope that they all managed to make it back from Ultima Thule without losing hope that I will return to them someday. As for if I am a White Mage I certainly am. Have been one for as long as I can remember. Well outside of a short time that I wished to fight like… a departed friend and I took up the lance. But my crystal is proof of that.” As she finished speaking she lifted up her glove and showed it to Yuna. The pearl white crystal shone in the middle of it. The symbol of the healers staff proudly emblazoned on its face. After a moment she lowered the hand and swung her staff onto her back and extended her hand toward Yuna.
”My name is Monori Jhida. An adventurer and healer by trade but until recently I was a member of the Scions of the Seventh Dawn.” She had to be sure that the formal introductions were completed as she did not wish for Yuna to feel that she was just some crazy person. As she extended her hand her right ear would twinge as she could hear a light groan coming from back in the treatment room.
[attr=class, bulk] The woman was gracious about her trip over to meet with Yuna. The clinic certainly wasn’t in the middle of nowhere, but it wasn’t in the center of town either, so it must have been at least a little out of her way. She seemed to be new to Provo though since she said that she hadn’t had much else going on today, and that made complete sense when the woman confirmed that she wasn’t from Zephon originally.
“Etheryis,” Yuna echoed, trying to see if it rang any bells. “I don’t believe I’ve met anyone else from there yet unfortunately, but it sounds like a beautiful place if so many different people can coexist. I hope you can make it home someday.” Possibly a shallow hope since that’s what everyone wanted, but Yuna had known many people here who had seemingly disappeared one day. Maybe they really had made it back to their original worlds.
Yuna also had to smile when the stranger confirmed that she was a white mage who had also trained a bit as a lancer. “I always admire people who have the patience for two different classes. I was considering taking up guns back home before I woke up here.” That was a bit of an embarrassing confession since it wasn’t something she had really admitted to anyone outside of Rikku. Of course her cousin had been very supportive, but Yuna wasn’t sure if the rest of Spira would have approved of their High Summoner running around like that. Not that it really mattered anymore.
Yuna looked at the woman’s offered crystal curiously, smiling at the sight of the healer’s staff emblazoned upon it before looking down at her offered hand. Handshakes weren’t really common in Spira anymore, but Tidus had been more comfortable with them than the traditional Yevon greeting, so Yuna had seen them before. Hoping that she was doing it correctly, she took the woman’s hand in both of hers as she finally introduced herself. “Monori? It’s very nice to meet you. You’ll have to tell me about the Scions of the Seventh Dawn. Were they a mercenary group?”
Letting go of Monori’s hand, Yuna gave her a brief introduction in return. “I know you already heard, but I’m Yuna. I’m from a place called Spira originally, but I’ve been in Zephon for a few years now. I joined the Dragonblades out of Torensten, but they’ve been wanting to spread to Provo, so Celes and Caius were nice enough to help me set this place up. It’s still a little small, but I hope to grow it over time. I was a summoner back home, so I hate to think of anyone going without treatment here just because white magic is a little less common.” Not unheard of certainly, but more rare and costly than it should have been. At least in Yuna’s opinion, but she might have been biased given the role of a summoner on Spira. Charging someone for her services there would have been unthinkable.
Monori seemed to notice the sounds of the men back in the exam room, and Yuna clasped her hands together. “If you don’t mind waiting, I need to check on them. It should be fast now that his petrification healed, but he might have a few other wounds.” The summoner hesitated for a moment before glancing at Monori’s glove with the crystal again. Honestly, she seemed so official and qualified that Yuna was interested in seeing some of her magic if she didn’t mind a demonstration.
“Unless you wanted to try? I know that’s putting you on the spot.” It did make for an easy way to interview her though.

As Yuna spoke about Etheryis and said that it sounded like a beautiful place Monori could not help but smile at her. For her it was the most beautiful place she had ever been and she would not change anything about that world should she ever be able to. As Yuna spoke hoping that Monori could someday make it home she could not help but glance at the orange crystal that hun from her staff. She knew that someday that Azem’s crystal would get her the ability to return home. Someday she knew that this would happen but until then she would just live the best life that she could here on Zephon.
Though came a question rather shortly after the handshake began about the Scions. She nodded in response. ”You could call us that. We originally were created to defend our realm from Summoned Eikons but we kind of evolved over the years.” She found it a little funny to have to explain what the Scions were but it did not bother the Miqote in the least. She was proud of what they were and what they had become. Even after the Crystal Braves Fiasco came and went.
Shortly after the handshake was let go of Yuna began speaking about herself. Saying that she was from a place called Spira. To her it sounded like a good place. Explaining her entire story to Monori it seemed since her arrival on Zephon. It had been years for her? That was maddening to Monori’s mind. As there was no question that she would return home. Yet was there a chance that she would never return home? Never return to the Scions and her small home on the beaches of Shirogane. The warm embrace of her beloved friends. She cast her gaze down for a moment before bringing her gaze back up to Yuna as she mentioned that she was a summoner.
”You are a summoner? I do not see a Carbuncle anywhere nearby? Are they assisting with the man in the back?” She knew from experience that Summoners could heal a little and that their carbuncle was the focal for that. Or at least that is how it was back home. This land was certainly in for multiple surprises for the Miqote in the future. Though as Yuna mentioned petrification her left ear would twitch and she would sigh. For her petrification was something normal from her time fighting the Goblins that served Titan’s twisted words. Though as Yuna turned to assist she was about to stop her when she stopped herself. Asking if Monori would like to help. Her grin widened on her face as Monori could not help herself but nod.
“I would gladly help with this. A quick Esuna and the man should be back on their feet in no time.” Monori spoke as she moved to walk alongside Yuna toward the back of the clinic and the patient's room. That was no reason that Monori would turn this down and she moved alongside her and once inside the room she could see what Yuna was combating against. It was certainly a petrification spell and it was one that Monori had never seen as in Etheryis it was either an instant petrification spell or something quicker acting then just the slow acting one that seemed to be afflicting this man.
Monori set aside her staff leaning it against the nearby wall, its glow going off as she did so. Walking over beside the man she could feel that the man was truly ill and she was going to do what she could. Closing her eyes she allowed her aether to swirl up from within and a light white light swirled around her feet and swirled around her for a moment as she casted Esuna upon the man. Her right hand would end up pointed toward the sky as the cast finished and she opened her eyes to look at the man. ”Miss Yuna I believe that should have helped the man. You are more of his doctor so I do not know his status before today. SO I will leave anything else to you.” When she finished speaking she could not help but smile as the man started a little at the dark skinned cat girl standing there smiling toward him.
[attr=class, bulk] Yuna nodded slowly at the explanation of what the Scions of the Seventh Dawn were, but it didn’t help that she wasn’t familiar with a few of the words that Monori used to expand on them. “I’m sorry, I’ve never heard of Eikons either,” Yuna was forced to admit. “But if they’re summoned, then maybe they’re similar to the aeons of Spira? Bahamut, Shiva, and Ixion for example.” Those names might not mean anything to Monori, which would set them back at square one, but it was worth a shot. Most people in Zephon seemed to have heard of them in different contexts. Maybe they were called Eikons where Monori was from.
“The Scions sound like a good group of people if you were risking your lives to protect everyone. How did you end up joining?” Yuna was just honestly curious, but it ended up sounding a bit more like an interview question than she had intended, but she hoped Monori didn’t think so. Either way, the summoner was also happy to talk about her lack of a…Carbuncle? “Talking to people from similar worlds feels a bit like speaking a foreign language,” Yuna said with a laugh. “I’m…not sure what a carbuncle is, but they aren’t summoned in Spira. There were quite a few aeons back home, but here the only one I still feel any connection to is Shiva.”
Monori jumped at the chance to help the farmer who had been attacked by the coeurl, so Yuna led her back towards the exam room, smiling slightly when the cat-like girl said a quick Esuna should do the trick. She definitely knew her way around white magic, and Yuna was grateful that they could understand each other about spells at least.
Monori didn’t waste any time once they were back there, which Yuna respected when people’s lives were on the line. The woman seemed well-practiced in dealing with this sort of thing from the way she looked him over with a critical eye and leaned her staff against the wall. “This is Monori. She’s also a white mage, so she’s going to be helping me out today,” Yuna introduced the other woman to the patient and his friends as she watched her work a little curiously. Honestly, she didn’t often get to see other healers in action. It was interesting because Monori’s magic clearly worked a bit differently from hers—the gestures and magical light that swirled up were different at least. But when the spell washed over the man, Yuna could definitely recognize it as Esuna. A powerful one at that. His breathing eased immediately, and Yuna couldn’t see any more traces of stone on his skin. The summoner was definitely impressed.
“Thank you so much,” Yuna gushed at her before she stepped forward to finish up the appointment. It didn’t take long—just a quick examination to make sure all traces of the status effect were gone, and then she sent him on his way after checking him out at the front desk. The bill was almost nothing since Yuna priced at cost, and an Esuna or two certainly wasn’t much to them. Really, they charged just enough to keep the lights on and the ethers flowing, which is why the clinic had exploded with demand recently. Yuna would definitely welcome the help.
“You’re very good at what you do,” she complimented Monori with a smile as soon as they were alone. “I bet the Scions of the Seventh Dawn were lucky to have you.” Thankfully the clinic was still in its off time, so with no other patients at the moment, she could focus entirely on the cat-eared woman. “Would you like a tour of the place?”

Monori would freeze but for a moment at the mention of Bahamut. As she would not talk about it in the here and now but to her that name was certainly still fresh in her mind. As each night when she would have a nightmare it would be of the fire that the primal Bahamut of Meracydia had bathed the Plains of Carteneau with. It was something that would stick with her forever no matter where she was. Though the mention of Shiva brought a pleasant smile to her lips as for her it was a remembrance of a dear friend of hers. Another story for another time it seemed especially with a patient in front of them.
Though a question came that she had no issues with responding to and Monori found herself responding without really thinking. ”How did I wind up joining? Well for me it was a fun little thing. I was assisting my home City State of Gridania with keeping a sacred site safe from an invasive group of beastkin. I caught the eye of two of the members of the Scions and after performing some tasks for them the offer was extended to me. That and it helped me that I had a similar blessing upon my soul as the leader of the group did. Though it seems to not be working at all since coming here. Which is a relief as it only really was good at giving me headaches.”
A light chuckle would escape her lips as she spoke about the Echo in such a manner. It was both a relief and concern for her to not have it working here on Zephon, but she had a feeling it was something to do with the planet itself. “Ahh you do not have them… that is sad as they are adorable little bluish green looking creatures. About three tall and four feet in length. Very friendly and curious creatures. I will gladly tell you more about them after we help the man with his petrification issues.” Monori could not help but want to help someone. This was something that she could not help but feed her hunger to do.
After healing the man Monori could not help smiling toward him and his friends as they were escorted out by Yuna. Bowing her head as she was thanked. She was humble when the moment called for it. Outside of that she was certainly more than proud of everything that she had accomplished. Once they had left she heard Yuna speak up once more and she could not help but nod toward her. “Took me losing my cousin to a curable status to lay down the spear and take up the healer's staff. I wanted to be sure as many people would not have to go through what I did. The Scions had several of us that could heal the others when they rushed in head first. Heck I was one of those that ran head first in alot of the time. Yet they stood at my side even after we lost many of our friends over the years of our travels.”
Her gaze was at the door as the men all left obviously happy for their friend. Though as Yuna offered her a full tour she would nod in agreement. As she would love to have the full lay of the land for the clinic. Mostly so she knew where she would be best served. Though before they would walk out of the clinic room Monori would chime up once more. “And those names that you spoke of before we entered the room. Two of them are familiar to me. Yet I feel that they mean something different to you than me. As in my world Bahamut was the King of Dragons and founder of the Dragon Lands of Meracydia. He was killed several Eons before my birth and yet he came back as a Primal and he laid waste to a large section of the world before being defeated by an immense magical effort. As for Shiva… She was a close and dear friend to me. Ysayle Dragoulain was her name and she was Lady Iceheart… or at least that is what the people of one of the city states called her. She was killed during the waning days of the Dragonsong War.”
She left off with that as she had no idea about any of Yuna’s adventures nor who she had seen and spoken with across Zephon.
[attr=class, bulk] Once the men had left the clinic and they were able to talk more, Yuna nodded along to the story of how Monori had joined up with the Scions of the Seventh Dawn. She had to smile a little though at the description of some power that she used to have that no longer worked on Zephon. “That doesn’t sound like much of a blessing if it only gave you headaches. It’s funny sometimes what we call divine…” Perhaps Yuna had grown a bit jaded with that sort of thing after the Church of Yevon had turned out to be such a facade. Hopefully Monori wouldn’t see her as rude without that context of why she was wary of religions.
The other white mage seemed a little sad for her that Spira didn’t have carbuncles, and after hearing the description, Yuna was a little upset about that herself. “They sound adorable. All summoners have one where you’re from?” Did that mean that carbuncles granted the power to summon, or were the creatures themselves summoned? Hopefully Monori would explain.
Yuna’s smile faded a bit as the other woman outlined why she had taken up healing in the first place. “...I’m sorry to hear that. I hope your cousin was able to find peace. I’m sure they’d be very proud of you.” Losing people was always hard, and even if Yuna no longer had to perform any kind of sending here, she still felt every death keenly.
As Monori agreed to a tour of the place, Yuna started to lead her out of the waiting room area, but that was when she brought up the aeons that the summoner had mentioned right before they had gone back to heal their patient. She absolutely knew their names in a different context, and Yuna was a little incredulous at the first description. “Bahamut really did all that to your world? I’m sorry—I shouldn’t mention him so carelessly then. He’s just one of the fayth the summoners pray to on Spira, so I didn’t think anything of it.”
At least Shiva was received warmly, though Yuna had the nagging feeling that something about what Monori was saying sounded familiar. After a moment, it came to her, and the summoner stopped in her tracks right in front of the exam rooms. “But I met an Ysayle! Up on Mt. Hotan. She helped me find a lost hiker in a snowstorm.” Yuna clasped her hands together and turned to Monori, doing her best to recall every detail of that encounter. “I don’t know if she’s the one you know, but she was a tall woman with long white hair. I didn’t learn much about her except that the cold didn’t bother her in the slightest and that she had been in a lot of wars.” Part of her hoped that they were talking about the same woman. She liked when people from the same world could be reunited.
Though Yuna wasn’t sure what to think when Monori dropped that apparently the Ysayle that she knew was dead. She’d heard before from Caius that people who had died occasionally showed up on Zephon, but she had yet to see it happen for herself.

”Well it is a blessing when it allows you to see moments in the past of the area or person, but it isn't working here. So I am both grateful and yet concerned about it.” Monori had to say something as she could not help herself. The Echo was a truly fickle beast and this was another moment that it was being its fickle self. Though as Yuna spoke about the carbuncles asking if every summoner in her home had them Monori nodded at her. A smile crossed her lips as she nodded.
“Yes they did. They even came in something of a rainbow of colors. One of my closest friends was a Summoner and she always had a brilliant Ruby Red carbuncle out. I can still clearly see the darn thing as it stole my lunch from me naught but a few weeks before I arrived here.” She spoke the words coming out in a slow but purposeful cadence. Just remembering her friend would always give her a smile on her face and she would be able to endure this place for however long it was needed.
Though as the tour commenced and the condolences were given and an apology and explanation for Bahamut came Monori just waved her hand. For her it did not matter as it was a different world so it was a different Bahamut. For her at least it all made some sense. Especially after her travels to the First and then Elpis are still relatively fresh in her mind. ”Ones faith is one of the strongest weapons back home. So I can understand that your Bahamut is not mine and it does not have the will like ours did. Your was a protector our a perverted destroyer.”
She could not help but just wave her hand at that after she finished up. That day had been so many years before so she did not mind it anymore. Instead she was more curious as to how Bahamut would be upon a different plane without the Allag prison that twisted the Dragon King would be like. Though her blaise attitude slipped away almost instantly as Yuna spoke about meeting an Ysayle up upon Mt Hotan. That made her freeze in place and she could feel the memories well up but then subside just as fast. “Tall white haired woman. With pointed ears and a calm demeanor? She said that she has been in many wars… That does sound like her. Yet for me she died several years ago so mayhaps this world could drag those at deaths door here. I would have to speak with her to see if she was truly my old friend or not.”
The words escaped her lips and she could not help but give a soft gentle smile toward Yuna as she was curious as to everything that had happened with Ysayle, but for now she was not going to ask about that. ”So tell me Miss Yuna. How did you wind up coming here? As I can tell you my arrival here was.. Unexpected to say the least was how I arrived here.” She said as she couldn't help herself but let her inquisitive nature come through.
[attr=class, bulk] Monori explained a little more about what the Echo did for her, and Yuna blinked at the revelation that she had been able to see glimpses of the past with it. That sounded incredibly useful actually, but it was too bad that it didn’t seem to work on Zephon. “Well I’m glad you don’t get headaches, but sorry to hear that you haven’t had any visions here. I wonder if the magic was specific to your world?” It was all speculation of course, but Yuna liked learning more about how Zephon worked compared to their homeworlds.
Yuna had to giggle when the other white-mage explained more about what a carbuncle was. “Well I promise I don’t have anything here that would steal your lunch. What I summon right now is just Shiva. They do sound really cute though.” Valefor had been the only one of her aeons who had really enjoyed being pet, which was probably fair when the fayth had originated as people. Maybe Yuna would have to get a pet sometime instead.
Monori waved aside her comments on Bahamut, saying that she understood the two weren’t the same. Yuna dipped her head in thanks. She felt a little guilty anyway, but regardless the Warrior of Light was soon distracted by their talk of Ysayle. She seemed shocked to hear that the woman had been spotted on Zephon and confirmed that it did sound like the person that she had known, even if her Ysayle was dead. “I wish I knew where she was now. Maybe Sonora? I last saw her on Mt. Hotan and she did seem to like the cold…” That didn’t narrow the search at all since Sonora was a huge city to the north, but it was a start at least. Yuna just hoped the two could be reunited someday.
Monori then asked how she’d come to be here, and Yuna smiled a little sadly as she adjusted one of the flowing sleeves on her outfit. “Well, there was actually a monster that had plagued Spira for over a thousand years. We called it Sin. Summoners had defeated it in the past a few times, but it always just came back…” It would be a bit of an explanation to dive into the how and why, so Yuna decided to keep it to the summary unless Monori asked follow-up questions. “It took a lot of sacrifices, but my guardians and I found the source and finally ended the cycle.” Too many sacrifices. She thought of Tidus fading through her for just a beat before she covered up that dark thought by smiling brightly. “It’s funny, I actually went to sleep that night and then woke up here. I’d at least like to think that means that Spira’s safe now?”
Remembering that she was supposed to be giving a tour, Yuna pushed open the door to the second exam room—Monori had already seen the first one after all, and this was the room that Yuna had been holding until she had someone who could help out long-term. Maybe that search was over.
