”Sonora? Well I guess I will add that to the places I will have to visit at some point. Yet for now I feel happy to stick around here and see if I can get in and help those that need it.” Monori could not help herself and smiled at that. As if it truly was Ysayle the cold did not bother her and she knew that that woman could easily handle herself from anyone. I mean if she could handle the whining of Alphinaud and Estinien worst moments she could handle anyone.
Though her internal thoughts about a possible old friend was halted as Yuna began to explain what had happened to her in her world. A giant monster that had been beaten several times over the millenia and always seemed to return. Monori was familiar with creatures and beings like that. Yet it was not something that she was going to comment on. The Ascians in her world were gone yet it struck her suddenly like a bolt of lightning. If this world could draw souls to it in moments of death could they of dragged in any of the Ancients?
”Yuna you have my respect in the hard fighting that you did on your world. And that is interesting how you arrived here. Just going to bed and waking up is certainly one way to do it. As for Sin… that sounds frightening but I have fought creatures of immense size once or twice…. Though I never did find the source of them and dispose of em like you did. So that is impressive.” Monori felt herself giving praise to the younger woman as she deserved it. This was something to be bragging about and yet Yuna remained humble. That gave her so many points for Monori. As the second exam room was opened a question was asked and Monori smiled widely thinking about it. Taking in a breath she began to regale Yuna with her tale. “I was on a journey to defeat something we Scions called the End of Days. It was a terrifying phenomenon that turned the very aether that our bodies were made of against us. Twisting those who lost themselves to sadness and despair into monstrous beings. We had gotten a delay on it and traveled with the assistance of a tribe of beastmen known as the Loporitts to a place known as Ultima Thule. There I… My friends had to sacrifice themselves one by one in order to progress deeper and deeper into the realm. One by one I had to watch them give themselves so that I could continue on forward til only I was left.”
“That did not last long as I wound up using that orange crystal that hangs off my staff to summon multiple people from the Lifestream of Ethyris to assist me in confronting her. My allies I summoned in the same way from where they had been taken and then I sent them to safety as the Endsinger which was the core of Meteion’s power was confronted by myself and seven other heroes that shared my gifts from across the rift. Even though I do not understand how it works, it does. It was after this fight I wound up in one final fight against a frenemy of mine. A man named Zenos Yae Galvus. A man whom had used his own body to transform into a dragon only a few moments earlier…” Monori could not help herself but regale the full tale. Even though it was not asked it helped to frame how she arrived here on Zephon. Taking a moment or two to gather up her thoughts she continued.
”There where there was noone able to get in the way or interrupt our fight Zenos challenged me into single combat. Which I accepted as he had assisted me earlier and I thought it only fair. Yet it took a lot out of the both of us and by the end we were both e exhausted and just throwing punches at one another til we both collapsed onto the ground. With him expiring from his exertion and I fell asleep and awoke here.” She finished up as she walked around the room. Taking in each and every single thing that she could. Though it was a few moments before she would ask Yuna something.
”Would this be my room to use? As I find it perfectly sized and with plenty of room for my own flair.” She had a wide smile on her face as she was already starting to think of what all she could do here and just how good she would be able to do as well.
[attr=class, bulk] Monori seemed to mentally note down that Ysayle had been spotted in Sonora, but she also expressed that she was content to stick around Provo for a while. Yuna was selfishly happy to hear it since Monori had proven herself capable. Even aside from that, she just liked the earnest cat-eared girl so far. If the white mage wanted to join their team, then Yuna would be incredibly glad to have her.
Monori told her that she was impressed by her story of Sin, and Yuna smiled slightly in gratitude. “It wasn’t just me, but thank you…We were always told that there was only one way to defeat Sin, but so many summoners and their guardians had died that way. We just had to defy tradition and find another way.” That probably sounded a little odd to someone who hadn’t grown up in Spira and seen first-hand the influence that the Church of Yevon had over the people. Trying something new sounded so obvious, but a summoner refusing to perform the Final Summoning and using an airship to attack Sin instead had been viewed as blasphemous. The church taught that Sin would only go away when humanity had atoned for their sins. Yuna had once believed in the teachings whole-heartedly, so it was funny how silly it all seemed in hindsight.
In response to Yuna’s request, Monori outlined the story of how she had come to Zephon. She knew how to tell a good tale, but it was so tragic in several places that Yuna ended up bowing her head in sympathy for all that the white mage had lost. “I’m sorry you’ve been through so much. Your friends must have believed in you more than anything for them to trust you to end things at the Ultima Thule though. I hope they found peace.” Monori finished by detailing her fight with Zenos, which made Yuna frown as that seemed to be the last thing that she remembered from her world. “That must have been a hard fight coming on the heels of another one. I’m glad you made it out in one piece.”
Yuna had often wondered if there was any rhyme or reason for why people were dragged to Zephon, but she supposed it was something that both she and Monori appeared to have been completely exhausted from their respective fights. Perhaps they had been less conscious because of that? It was something to think about at least.
Monori returned her attention to the tour, and Yuna smiled more brightly as she asked if this would be her room to use. “If you like it. I’ve been wanting to convert it into a second exam room once we’d done some recruiting. And hearing your story, I’m honestly blown away, Monori. We’d be lucky to have you here, and it’s absolutely yours if you want it.” She hoped the warrior of light would say yes.

As Yuna spoke and was humble about how she had built the clinic. It was a refreshing thing as many others around here seemed to be full of themselves and more than happy to boast about their own achievements. Once more her mind momentarily flashes to the other Azem that she had run into already. Things were not that simple it seemed and that she was going to have to figure these out one at a time.
”Breaking traditions can be fun.. Though yours was certainly a much larger break from tradition then the many times I have done it over my life.” She spoke softly but with a calm purpose behind her words. Yet there was certainly a small bit of pride in the fact that her new companion was able to do this. So Monori would be happy to meet Yuna’s companions on her trip should she ever have that opportunity.
As Yuna spoke about her friends and about how they found peace Monori could not help but laugh lightly as her head slumped a little and her gaze went to the ground. “Honestly I know that they survived. I know that each and every single one of them are angry at me. We went through so much together. I know that they will continue on doing what is right even without me there. The only ones I worry about are those I was the closest to that were not Scions. Yet I know they will mourn but will move on.”[/color]
As she spoke she slowly let the words fade off as she was obviously hiding behind the words and her confidant portrayal. Yuna’s compliment on her internal strength made her smile once more and lift her gaze back to the brunette. ”You remind me of Rin…” Her words were quiet and rather distant but still there and that Yuna would of been able to hear her.
Though her wandering mind that had gone to her closest and most trusted companion snapped back to Zephon the moment that Yuna offered heer the exam room. It was with a growing smile and confidant persona slipping back in place she looked at the young woman. ”Consider it claimed. I will be happy to help you and to help the people of Provo. If my skills can at least help in the slightest then I am happy to be here.”
[attr=class, bulk] In response to her story, Monori added that breaking traditions could be fun, which made Yuna laugh. “You know, I think you’re right. It was scary to go against the church, but I can’t say it wasn’t a little satisfying.” Once upon a time that would have been a scandalous thing to say in Spira, but the summoner liked to think that the world would change going forward. Even if she wasn’t currently there to see it into the future. She trusted the people that she had left behind. They’d ensure that Spira never slipped back into the old ways where Yevon had held it captive.
Monori expressed her certainty that her friends were carrying on without her back on her own world, and Yuna smiled a little sadly as she noticed the other white mage’s gaze drift towards the ground. She knew that look. Most of the adventurers here got it when they talked about home for too long. “I’ve always thought someone might find a way for us to go back eventually. When that happens, they can be angry at you all they want.” She paused before adding an amendment to that. “Um…Hopefully they’re more happy to see you though.”
Monori said very softly that Yuna reminded her of someone named Rin. The words were so quiet that the summoner wasn’t even sure that she’d been meant to hear them, so she just smiled gently at the other woman in case she needed a moment to herself. “You’ll have to tell me about her sometime.” Yuna was also open to talking now of course—she just wasn’t sure if the cat-eared woman was in the mood to open up that topic. Rin certainly seemed to mean a lot to her.
Monori accepted her job offer, and Yuna breathed out a sigh of relief before smiling brightly at her. “Then welcome aboard! And you’ll absolutely help more than a little. Don’t sell yourself short. I saw what you could do.” She was kind and talented and could fight to the death when she had to. Exactly the sort of person Yuna was thrilled to have found.
“I haven’t done much with this room, so we can fix it up however suits you best. I’ll have to go to the market soon anyway now that we’ll need enough ethers for two healers.” Yuna was honestly pretty excited at the prospect, which was rare for her when it came to shopping. She was just happy to see their small outpost of the Dragonblades starting to grow. She really did need to thank Celes for doing so much recruiting for them.

The miqo could not help but smirk as Yuna chimed in about how it was scary to go against the church of her world and yet it was satisfying. There was not much to unpack from that as Monori kind of felt that as she had broken from her family’s traditions long ago and without that she would have never met the people she held dearest to her. Yet with all that she could not help but feel that specter of worry for her friends and of her loved ones left behind.
“Knowing them, they would be trying to find a way to bring me home already. Delving into forgotten a nd forbidden tomes in the depths of forgotten corners of Eorzea and beyond. Yeah I can see them already doing that and while worried, smiling knowing that their work will matter to someone at some point.” Monori chimed in response to Yuna’s statement about her friends and how they would react to her. As it was true, she knew full well that Y’shtola and Graha would be delving into the depths of the libraries they had access to while the others would be scouring every forgotten hall that they found to try and bring her home. Yet she had a gut feeling this was just the adventure that Emet had mentioned to her that a bearer of Azem’s crystal should go on. So she was determined to see this through to the end.
Not realizing that Yuna had heard her mention her friend's name, she started a little. It was not something that she wanted to really talk about in the here and now but she smiled and nodded. “Maybe another day…” There were a few topics she would not speak on at length with anyone outside of those closest to her. Both of which included her closest family and she was not to speak on it..
“I am happy to be here, Yuna. I am happy to be of help as I never truly aspired to become anything outside of a great healer. I have only ever wanted to help people and yet I wound up doing so much more than just that. As for the room… It is perfect for right now. Perfect for me to help as it beats a dirt floor and canvas walls where I started.” She smiled as she lifted her head and looked over at her. There was much that she knew that this woman reminded her of. So many of her closest allies and friends are not beside her in the here and now. It did bother her and wear thin on her heart but she knew that this was a way to honor them.
“As for Ethers, do not worry too much for me. I have always had a fount of magical energy that is always there when I need it. So worry for yourself more than mine.” She spoke softly and once more nodded toward her. Moving once more to take off the heavy overcoat that was part of her outfit to hang it on the one chair in the room.
“So where do we rest? As I doubt we sleep in the exam rooms. Plus we have not gotten through much of the tour.” She spoke with a slight chuckle in her voice as it was obvious s he was teasing the summoner in the moment.
[attr=class, bulk] Monori spoke a little more about her friends back home and how they were probably delving into forgotten knowledge to try to bring her back. Yuna couldn’t help but laugh a little since it reminded her so much of the attitude her guardians had held. Tidus had always acted like nothing was impossible if they all put their minds to something, and in the end maybe he had been right. Sin was gone, and Yuna never would have been able to conceive of fighting Yevon without all of their help. Maybe Monori’s friends really would rescue her one day if they were anything like her own guardians.
The other white mage seemed hesitant to talk about Rin, and Yuna completely respected her decision. “Of course,” she reassured her, letting the topic drop until when and if Monori wanted to resume it. There were definitely things that Yuna herself didn’t like to talk about. Sometimes when she was alone, she would take out the memory of Tidus and allow herself to mourn him and everything they could have been. She didn’t often mention him to the others on Zephon though. Maybe someday his sacrifice would be less painful, but two years later, she still wasn’t quite there yet.
Monori expressed that she was happy to be here and that the room would already work since it beat healing people outside in a tent. Yuna laughed at that, since it summed up her own thoughts perfectly. “I know exactly what you mean.” People were injured on the road by fiends and sinspawn all the time, so her work had been outside too more often than not. “I really appreciate Celes and Caius helping us do this. I know you’ve met Celes already—hopefully we can see Caius too next time he’s in Provo.”
Monori apparently had little need for ethers, and Yuna gave her a surprised look. “I’m a little jealous. That must be convenient,” she said with a smile to show that she was mostly teasing. “Well, if you ever do run low on magic for some reason, you’re welcome to them.”
The warrior of light prompted her that they had barely started the tour, and Yuna laughed as she turned away from Monori’s new workspace. “You’re right, I’m sorry. We keep getting distracted.” She walked back out into the waiting room, a little relieved that it was still empty for now. That could change at anytime of course, but thankfully it was still an off-time. “So other than the main room and the two patient rooms, that hallway leads back to a bathroom and a kitchen,” she explained, directing Monori’s attention to the back of the building. “You’re welcome to use it or take anything from there by the way. Please don’t go hungry.” With a faint smile, she started walking over to the staircase next to the front door. “Then upstairs there are just three bedrooms. I use one, and I’ve been using the other two as guest rooms if someone from the Dragonblades comes to Provo, or if a patient needs to stay long-term for some reason. Want to see if you like one of them?”

It was a great thing that it seemed that Yuna had fully understood what she was getting at with her friends and then about her closest friends. There were only three of them that she held tightly and one was now gone back to the Aetherial Sea. So the other two she would have to hope would live long healthy lives without her being there. Though that did bring to her mind a question on what exactly Zephon would have. Would it be an Aetherial Sea or would it be something else entirely. That would be musing to go over another day with a scholar from Zephon.
Though as Yuna chimed up and began to speak about how she was grateful to both Caius and Celes she couldn't help but nod in response to her. Monori was grateful for the chance meeting with Celes from the flier she had found. Though the rest of her day speaking with Alex was something that she would sooner forget but for now it bothered her. “Well when next he comes this way I look forward to meeting the man who helped set up the group that yo.. We call home within.”
Her words were calm and she had to catch herself as she was certainly part of the Dragonblades now. Even if she had not meant to, it seemed that she was in. Though it did seem that her new white mage colleague was good at teasing and Monori could not help but slyly smirk at her. “Oh you would be surprised what all I can do with my magical abilities.” The teasing tone given back to Yuna with no qualms and instead a return in kind.
Monori would follow Yuna as she left the new room and she could not help but enjoy the tour as it continued on. Standing in the midst of the hallway being told that there was a kitchen back there made her smirk widen into a smile. Something that she enjoyed in her spare time back home and there was a chance she could do it to make someone else's life easier. That is certainly something that she was going to do for Yuna.
As they made it to the staircase she was informed of the three bedrooms up there. Nodding Monori could not help but speak. “I will gladly take one. As I figure it is easier than sleeping in the exam rooms when we get tired. Do we have anything in place should we need to have more than one patient overnight for a long period of time? Like one of the nearby inns for us to sleep in or for us to house patients inside of?”
There was a spark in Monori’s mind as she thought about this topic as it came to her. As otherwise it would feel odd for her to just take one of the guest rooms if they should ever truly need it for emergencies.
[attr=class, bulk] Monori said that she was looking forward to meeting Caius soon, and Yuna nodded a bit thoughtfully. Honestly it had been longer than usual since she’d seen the blond-haired man who had originally invited her to join the Dragonblades. She wondered what was keeping Caius so busy lately. Hopefully it was just work and nothing had happened to him personally. Celes would have brought it up if it was anything serious at least, so Yuna probably didn’t need to worry.
“I’m sure he’d love to meet you. You’ll know him when you see him—he’s hard to miss when he brings his dragon places,” Yuna said with a slight laugh. “Vordun could fit in his pocket when I met him, but now he’s big enough for two people to ride…” It was odd how much time had passed since she’d come to Zephon now that she thought about it. Long enough for a dragon to nearly grow up.
Yuna laughed again when Monori teased her that she’d be surprised what she could do with her magic. “Well now I’m just curious. I don’t have much else hidden up my sleeve except my summoning.” If she’d stayed on Spira long enough to watch the world get remade, then maybe she’d have taken up something new since they no longer needed summoners. Guns had always interested her a little, though they’d been considered forbidden machina until Yevon’s defeat. Maybe she should look into learning how to use them here on Zephon.
As they continued the tour and went upstairs, Monori said that she’d be happy to take a bedroom. She also raised a great point about having less room for anyone who was seriously injured and needed to stay though. “That’s true,” Yuna agreed, turning to consider the three doors thoughtfully. “We’ll make it work, so please don’t feel bad about taking one of them though. You’re right, there are plenty of inns in Provo, so one of us could always vacate temporarily if we really needed to.” That would be a bad situation if all the beds upstairs and downstairs were needed at once, but it could easily happen if disaster ever struck Provo like it tended to in Torensten. Yuna had never been sure how Torensten had such bad luck when it came to things like that.
“Want to choose one? They’re both pretty basic right now, but feel free to do whatever you want with it,” Yuna reassured Monori. “Mine’s definitely gotten a little…cramped.” And messy. She’d be a little embarrassed to show that one off to the other white mage.

“Wait, he has a pet dragon that he rides on? Ok I really do want to meet him eventually. I have ridden on the back of a few myself…” Instantly chiming back to Yuna she quickly shut herself up as her enthusiasm for what was spoken about Caius made her internally laugh. It was something that she was certainly not expecting on this planet. So someday she would have to talk to Caius about his experiences with Vordun.
Monori raised a finger to her lips after Yuna returned her tease with a curious retort as to what all she actually could do. It was the universal gesture of I am not going to tell you all my secrets at once. Hopefully the woman would understand it and Monori just gave her a toothy smile. As the tour finally reached the upstairs she moved toward one of the rooms that was pointed out to her. Opening the door she nodded as she looked at the room from the now open door.
“I will take this room then. So long as we do not need to pass it over to a patient that is.” She spoke softly as she looked at the rather empty room to which she was going to be giving her own flair but not in the here and now. Though Yuna’s words about her room being a little cramped did bring a raised eyebrow to Monori.
“Wait yours is cramped? Got too much stuff in there or just supplies that you do not trust being downstairs overnight?” A rather simple question and one that she could easily understand from herself toward Yuna. There were many things that ran in her mind and today this was just another of the bouncing stream of consciousness that she had.
[attr=class, bulk] Monori seemed excited about the idea of Caius having a dragon, and it became obvious why when she said that she’d ridden on the backs of several herself. “Several? Are they friendly in Eorzea? I’m not sure Vordun would be if Caius hadn’t raised him from an egg,” Yuna confessed. As it was though, the blue dragon acted like a big scaly puppy. With very sharp teeth. Though he could be very intimidating in combat, so Yuna was always glad that he was on their side.
Monori claimed one of the rooms upstairs, and Yuna nodded a little apologetically at how bare it was right now. “I’m sorry there’s not much in there yet, but please do feel free to do whatever you want with it. The same goes for anything in the clinic really. It hasn’t been open that long, so it’s easy to change things around.”
The other white mage asked why her room was so cramped, and Yuna laughed a little self-consciously. “I’ve been here for a few years now, and I have a hard time throwing anything away when someone gives it to me. I really do need to sort through it all sometime though.” Of course that included the Spirit Lance that Kimahri had left behind in the Headstone Forest, and Yuna usually avoided looking in that corner. That way she didn’t have to ponder her guardian’s fate anymore than she already did.
But that wasn’t a good train of thought while she was still welcoming Monori.
Yuna glanced around, wondering if there was anything she’d missed on the quick tour. “I guess that just leaves the kitchen. Do you like to cook? I noticed you lit up when I mentioned it earlier.” Her own cooking was nothing special. Her meals were usually a simple affair when she was alone, so it might be nice to be able to branch out more now that there were several people around.
At that point, the sound of a bell ringing downstairs signaled that the front door had been opened as someone walked inside. “I guess that’s our queue,” Yuna said with a slight smile as she looked over at Monori. “Ready to start? Or did you want to get settled in first?”
