TEACH THEM BOYS A LESSON
If you were to run into Cindy at this moment, you wouldn't have a clue that she was the type of person to help anyone that they came across, for a price of course. You might not even be able to tell that she knew exactly what she was doing at all times. Hell, you might not even think she even knew some of the words that were coming out of her mouth. Honestly, you probably didn't even know half of the words, and neither did she. They were just coming out at this point because, well, she was pissed.
"When I get back, you can bet your lyin' carcass that I'm raisin' the price on this." It was relief when she could see Torensten in the distance, and her determination to give this guy a piece of her mind was what was pushing her through at this point. Why was she so mad you ask? Well, there had been a job posted. It stated that they needed someone to head out into the middle of no where to get a piece of machinery. That obviously got the attention of the blonde grease monkey.
Yes, she had asked if the object in question was heavy. She was told no. Yes, she had asked specifics. They had told her it was for a car. They had lied, sort of. It was for a car alright. It was the car. Now, she could have went back and said no. She needed the money though, and she knew how to hassle with the best of them. Her plan, was to get the car there, but she had taken some important pieces from it. The person who sent her off would have to pay triple to get the pieces back, and back on properly.
Of course she had walked there with just a rope to drag the object, she had no reason not to! So, here she was, pulling the car with a rope. Lucikly she knew how to get it to roll, or she would have had much bigger problems. Dropping the rope, she decided to stop for a brief moment. Taking out the water bottle she had in her bag, she sat on the trunk of the car a little ways out of Torensten. Taking a drink, she wiped some sweat off of her forehead. This man was going to pay, and pay big time.

The Dragonblades
Cindy had found herself a long ways from Sonora for work, it seemed. Far, far away from home, at that. Though Torensten would certainly prove to be a... Strange place for a mechanic to be contracted. Perhaps Cindy would have begun to suspect something was off -- more than she already did originally anyway -- when she reached Torensten's borders and the worn, barely-there roads of Provo would fade into nothing but dirt trails that seemed more apt for chocobo-pulled wagons than a motor vehicle. The constant bumping probably didn't make her trip any better. Hopefully whatever price she was planning to scope from this cruel client was worth it.
Overhead, undeterred by poor roading was a dragon. Yes, an actual dragon. Not a whole lot bigger than a horse, but it had scaly wings, claws and four limbs. So it was definitely a dragon. With a brilliant blue shine to its scales, it soared through the air without a care in the world. Sitting atop was a young man with long blonde hair tied back in a small ponytail. Torensten's heat wasn't the best thing for long-haired fellows, unfortunately. Trusting Vordun's sense of direction, Caius had sprawled out on the dragon's back, looking over his notes. They had gone on an afternoon flight, just a little break before Caius got back to work at the Wyvern's Rest. It was a chance for Caius to clear his head, up in the sky where nobody was going to bother them. Or at least, until Vordun would look down at the weird thing being towed and loose a few noises to alert Caius. The blonde sleepily sat up and scratched behind Vordun's ears, peering down at whatever it was Vordun was looking at.
Well, he certainly wasn't expecting a car in Torensten. Nor someone actually towing it by rope. With curiosity getting the better of him, Caius decided to investigate just in case it was rigged with a bomb or something. Instructing Vordun to take them down, they would land easy a little ways from the vehicle. Knowing she was probably from Sonora given her choice of attire and the car, Caius would step down from the dragon and immediately hold his hands up, completely expecting to be met with screaming.
"We mean no harm" Caius spoke up right away, remembering several past incidents where he should have done this from the start. He looked to Vordun. "Vordun put your hands up" he instructed the drake, who stared at him for a few moments like he had just grown a second head. Caius continued to stare at him until the drake would stand on its hind legs and get its arms up. It looked as goofy as it sounded.
Getting a better look at the person who would hopefully not be screaming at the top of her lungs, she seemed to be an attractive young woman in garb that reminded him of his own world. In fact, she kind of reminded him of a woman in Lucis who had repaired his barely-functioning junk heap of a vehicle a few times. Though that woman was well into her 30s, this one was clearly much younger.
"You uh... Hauled that all the way here? Mind if I ask why? We don't exactly see cars in Torensten so forgive me if my curiosity got the better of me."

TEACH THEM BOYS A LESSON
As Cindy took a drink of water, she swallowed it very slowly as she watched...a dragon fly over head. Now, Eos had its fair share of monsters, animals, and just creatures alike. In all her time here, she had yet to see anythin' like that. So, the dragon didn't neccessarily scare her, but more confused her. Was Torensten known for them then? She had mostly been in Sonora, so maybe it was just a thing there. A thought occured to her. It didn't seem like anything was huntin' it down, so maybe it was friendly? Maybe she could get it to help her pull the car the rest of the way.
The plan was quickly dismissed as the dragon landed, and a man stepped out with his arms raised. As she watched, the man also made the dragon put its hands up, or well, paws? She wasn't really sure what they were actually called. "Now isn't that just somethin'. I've never seen a dragon do that before, and I'm quite impressed." She set her water bottle down on the trunk and jumped off of it.
"It's alright, dragons don't scare me. I've seen worse in my days." Though, that kind of made her sound old, but she waved it off. The daemons in her home land were much scarier than this, and she had never heard of anyone tamin' any of those things. She'd be down right petrified of the person who could! Making her way towards them, she took a good look at the dragon. "Yer a pretty little thing, aren't ya?" Hopefully she didn't offend it by sayin' that.
The man was then questioning about the car, and Cindy gave a scoff. "Oh I took a job off of one of them boards. I work as a mechanic, and they were paying pretty well. The post say it was car parts, but failed to mention it was the whole damn thing. I plan on takin' it there, and then chargin' a whole lot more than their askin' price, that's for damn sure." She knew she probably looked rather odd draggin' the thing around, but she was going to get her money, one way or another. "Name's Cindy."

The Dragonblades
Wait, she wasn’t scared? Like at all? Caius slowly lowered his hands when she actually glowered at the dragon instead of screaming in terror. Well, this was a pleasant surprise, wasn’t it? He motioned to Vordun that he could lower his paws now. She proclaimed that she had seen worse in her day. Her day? She didn’t seem that much older than him! “Yeah, same” he remarked, very much referring to the same daemons she was thinking about. “Vordun’s practically a teddy bear in comparison.”
Vordun though, while not offended by Cindy, actually seemed to be more offended at Caius’ comparison. The dragon turned and loosed a loud, ferocious roar in the face of the mercenary, who stared at the dragon a moment before holding a hand up and clamping its mouth shut. “Vordy, that’s not nice” Caius admonished the overgrown lizard, wiping his face with his shirt. “All you did is remind me that your breath smells terrible and your gums need a cleaning. You could also use a bath”
The dragon groaned in protest, somewhere between annoyed that Caius didn’t seem to be taking it seriously, and that it was going to be subjected to a bath and mouth cleaning at some point. Caius meanwhile, turned to the woman as she explained her purpose here. Caius quirked a brow in surprise and confusion. “Someone asked you to bring car parts here? To Torensten?” he inquired. “That’s… Bizarre, actually. There isn’t a motor vehicle in these parts for miles, not until you get into Provo territory. The roads here are designed for wagons and chocobos, not motor vehicles. Where are you meeting your client, exactly?”
He would comment on the price changing, but if the customer had deceived her, he couldn’t blame her either. The fact she had to bring it here by rope, too, sheesh. The girl was strong as an ox if she had managed to bring it as far as she had. She introduced herself as Cindy, and while the name sounded vaguely familiar, it didn’t ring enough of a bell for Caius to recognize right away. Perhaps if he had paid more attention to Lucian fashion before everything had gone to hell, he would have realized where she was from. “Caius” he introduced himself as he held out a hand. “The overgrown lizard is Vordun. If it’s not too much further, why don’t we help you with towing this thing the rest of the way? We could use a good afternoon workout. I can probably recommend you to a good place to eat too, if you’re new to Torensten. I imagine you’re probably starving after hauling that all the way here.”
Because there was no way anyone had built a motor vehicle within Torensten’s borders. There just weren’t the parts for it. The closest thing to a motor anything was the airships, and those were powered by the smaller magic crystals created by the local mages.

TEACH THEM BOYS A LESSON
"Yeah, he seems like it, but knows when to protect his owner I bet." Mostly she was just trying to make up for the fact that they were both degrading the dragon just a little bit by telling him he wasn't that scary. The closest thing Cindy ever really got as a pet were the stray dogs that liked to hang around Hammerhead. People would either take them in, they'd run off to somewhere new, or get killed. She had one trained once to fetch her tools for her, and it was a pretty big blow when he got hit by a car, and she never really bonded with one since.
The dragon roared, she assumed to proclaim that he was still a fierce being that wasn't taking kindly to all the nice things being said about him. What he got in return, however, was to be told off. Cindy chuckled behind her hand. "You two certainly are a pair, aren't ya?" She had never seen an interaction like this before, and she was rather enjoying it honestly. It was something you saw every day.
Nodding, Cindy crossed her arms. "I thought so too, but that's what I love doin', so I jumped at the opportunity without askin' any questions. That was my mistake, and I guess I'm payin' for it." He asked where they were meeting, and she pointed straight ahead of them. "The outskirts on the other side. I was debatin' on if I wanted to drag this thing through town, or go around. Both would be a challenge." Also, going through town would get her a lot of stares, but someone might be willing to help in town as well.
Caius, as she learned, offered his hand in helping her and she grinned. "I would really appreciate it. It's really not too incredibly heavy, I've pulled worse before." In the past, she had been called to tow vehicles that had driven off road and her truck wouldn't reach, so this wasn't really anything new to her. It was still a longer distance than she had ever gone before, which was probably why she was pretty tired now.
"Food sounds great right about now. Let's get this thing where it belongs, and then we can head whatever way you have in mind." She wasn't sure how they were all going to pull at once, since she only had one rope attached to it at the moment. "Y'all go another rope? That's the only one I brought with me since I didn't think I'd be doin' all this."

The Dragonblades
"I wouldn't exactly call myself his owner. More of a partner. Or family" Caius corrected with a small smile, though he did nod in agreement that Vordun was a completely different dragon when there was danger afoot. "I didn't tame him, per se. There was no process of taming the big, fierce dragon with some huge struggle as some people seem to think when they see us. Truthfully, I raised him as a hatchling. We've been together almost all the time since the day he hatched."
She called them a pair, and he laughed at that. "We get that a lot" he agreed in turn. She claimed that she enjoyed this kind of work, so she jumped at the chance without thinking. And paid for it, at that. "I suppose I can understand that. Not the first time I've jumped at the chance to do something related to my field and paid for it. Though I got a bit more than just a car to tow" he admitted, frowning a moment at the memory of it, but he didn't elaborate further unless asked as he decided to move onto the main event at hand. His brows shot up high when she remarked that it was on the other side of Torensten.
"Oh... Shoot. That's..." he trailed off, sucking in a breath. "The capital city of Torensten is massive, Cindy. Even with help, you'll be all day" he remarked, shaking his head. He paced around a few moments, trying to think up a solution. "Let's go into town. Like, without the car. Save your energy. The Wyvern's Rest is the headquarters of the Dragonblades. We should be able to find a mage there either with inherent magic that can lift this thing, or who can make a magic crystal that can hold enough charge to lift it long enough to bring it over. It would be a lot faster and less risk of breaking both your hips. I'll cover the crystal cost. Consider it my way of saying welcome to Torensten."

"Partner seems like a better word for, and I'm sure he likes it a lot better as well." Pet did seem a little far fetched when it came to a giant being like that. Cindy listened as he told their story and she gave a smile. "So y'all have a cute story instead of a scary one, nothin' wrong with that. You got yourself a loyal partner out of it, ya can't be that." Some days she wished she had someone close like that, though her grandfather and her were very close so she did have him. Or used to.
"Well I'm glad to hear I'm not the only here to get myself into a sticky situation like this. Mistakes happen, it's how you learn from them is the real reward." There were many situations she was called to help with that really made her wonder what went through some peoples heads. Cars in lakes, on the sides of mountains, on guard rails. Her stories were short, but endless.
Looking towards her destination, she exhaled. "Yeah, I've noticed. I'm sure that's why the fella didn't want to do it himself, nor did he give many details." This was a lesson learned. Though, it did suggest an experience person should take the job, and she figured she had plenty of that. Maybe next time she should've asked if she needed anything specific for the job.
Listening to his suggestion, she gave a nod. "That sounds a little confusing to me, but if you say it'll work. I was raised and worked at a car place my whole life, so anything beyond that is new to me. Heck, even things in my own world took me by surprise most days." He said he would cover the cost and she gave him a smile. "You don't have to do that, but I do appreciate it. I'll buy lunch after, how about that?" Cindy was used to deals, so this made her able to accept.

The Dragonblades
"Oh I'm sure he does" Caius responded with a small laugh as he turned to Vordun and scratched behind his little nub ears. "Don't you, Vordy? It's much better than-gak!" he found himself quickly cut off by Vordun promptly assailing him and licking his face. Caius brought up both arms to try and defend himself. "Arrgggh, slobber. Of course" Caius complained as he finally pushed Vordun away and wiped himself off with his shirt. He seemed more amused than anything, though that oversized lizard was going to drown him in slobber one day at this rate. Well, at least somebody liked this story instead of claiming it wasn't dramatic enough. There HAD been a big dragon fight, though, which led to Caius taking the egg more out of guilt than anything else.
"Yeah, I can kind of see why he had no intentions of doing so himself. I think you've been taken for a ride, Cindy. And not the kind this vehicle would provide" Caius remarked with a shake of his head. Utterly shameful, this client was. And an easy way to ensure that they would have one less mechanic to serve them in future. Burning your bridges for no reason, who did that? Terribly impractical.
But for now, while Cindy didn't entirely understand the suggestion, Caius would at least convince her to come with him to get some help. Though she would offer to buy lunch after, which he supposed he should have seen coming considering her disposition. "Deal" he agreed then. After a few moments of gauging the distance, he disentangled himself from the vehicle and would pat Vordun's head. Vordun would then lower his head, allowing him to come aboard. With that, he held out a hand to Cindy. The hand that had the slobber more properly wiped off, I mean.
"Why don't we take Vordun? It'll be faster. We don't have to fly if you're not familiar with it, he can get us to Torensten quickly enough on the ground."

TEACH THEM BOYSA LESSON
Vordun seemed like a dedicated partner, and she was glad a creature such as him was able to be accepted. Cindy couldn't help but giggle when Caius got attacked with love from his companion. To be honest, Cindy wasn't really that interested in how they became the way they are. The only thing that mattered to her was that Caius wasn't in danger and the two got along. She wasn't one to judge people based on their past, but what they had to offer in the present and she looked toward the future.
"Yeah, I can see that as well. He wasn't much of a talker either, which should've been a clue. Ah well, lesson learned." Cindy was pretty disappointed, but she wasn't going to let it ruin her day. She would just finish the task, and be done with it. In a way, it was something to do to past the time anyways. Since she had arrived here, she hadn't met many people, so she spent her days just working on random cars and exploring.
Caius agreed to her deal and she gave him a nod. The next thing she knew, he was climbing up onto Vordun and offering his hand. "Aw man, no kidding? Count me in!" She took his hand and climbed up as well. She had never been on a dragon before, but had been on a motorcyle, so her first instinct was to wrap her arms around Caius for stability since she had no idea what to do with her hands. He could tell her otherwise, but that was her plan for now.
Torensten was a place she had never been to, so she was glad to have a chance to learn the area with someone who seemed to know his way around. "I'm countin' on you to pick a good place to eat." With what she knew of the man so far, she was sure he would pick a good place. Cindy loved food, so there was a slim chance he would pick something she didn't like.

The Dragonblades
"It's a lesson we all learn the hard way" Caius did his best to reassure her that this was perfectly normal, though he was sure that she knew that. "For me, it was bandits. So it could have been a lot worse before you learned yours. I would call that a stroke of fortune, almost. Even if it would be better if we never had to learn it at all" he expressed in passing as the mercenary held out a hand and stroked the dragon's neck. Whispering something to Vordun, his hand movements seemed to help the dragon remember to do something, and suddenly a saddle would materialize on the dragon in a swirl of bright blue sparks. A sight that would likely be quite familiar to Cindy. Except normally used by a King. Not a fire-breathing dragon. Then again, dragons didn't even seem to exist in Lucis beyond ancient tabloids depicting the god Bahamut.
At least Cindy seemed alright with climbing on, eager even. This continued to surprise Caius, and it was no surprise that he had taken a liking to Miss Aurom quite quickly. He would take her hand and gently help her aboard. She was quick to wrap her arms around his waist, as if expecting a fair amount of speed. She had good instincts on her. "The saddle has leg holds, I would recommend strapping your legs in at least" Caius advised her regarding such as he would strap himself in first, slowly, in order to give her an example to work with. "Normally I would recommend you use the other straps as well, but it's a short ride and we're not flying, so the danger level is relatively low so long as you hold on tight as you're already doing" Caius brought up then. If Cindy did have trouble, he'd turn around to help her out.
Once they were all strapped in, Caius would give Cindy due warning before Vordun would take off at a sprint. It was quite a sight, a dragon gallivanting across the countryside and headed towards the capital city. But that was Torensten for you. Vordun wasn't as fast as a horse on the ground, considering he was larger and more bulky, clearly built more for flight. But Vordun was no slowpoke either. The dragon even seemed to enjoy the run, and Caius actually here and there caught the dragon's tongue hanging out of its mouth like an overly excited puppy. A really big and scaly puppy.
But eventually they would find themselves at the city gates. Caius didn't bother to dismount, and Vordun would ride right into the city like your everyday horse. People stared, of course. But they were looks of wonder, some even pointing and saying "Vordun" instead of fleeing in terror or screaming at the top of their lungs about a dragon being in the city.
While Caius didn't take Vordun into the city too often, that ceremony had made the dragon a welcome presence in Torensten. A far cry from how things used to be. Everything had changed for the Dragonblades, and for Vordun, after the Kraken's defeat. It was kind of nice, even. The city itself was as warm as its climate, having a bit of a regal air to its buildings despite the clear salty smell of the sea permeating said air. As elegantly beautiful as Torensten was, it was still very much a port city. That was clear the minute you stepped foot in it.
Eventually, they would come to a cozy, two story building with a small courtyard attached to the back.
The Wyvern's Rest.
Caius would disengage the holdings and dismount, holding out a hand to help Cindy do the same. "Why don't you go and pay everyone a visit in the courtyard?" Caius advised Vordun, whom would snort a bit of smoke before taking off into the air. Opening the door for Cindy to go in first, Caius would follow suit behind her. The place, despite the reputation of the Dragonblades, might be a bit smaller than their organization's stature might indicate.
The first floor was just a single large room with walls separating the different parts of it. The entryway was mainly just a desk with what looked to be a young woman minding it. The next was a lounge, complete with a fireplace, chairs, and a place to grab food and drink. There were places that led to where one could use facilities, store equipment and cook, but they were still adjacent. Upstairs though, led to many different small rooms. All for housing the mercenaries who stayed here, as well as a few bathrooms.
As the two stepped in, mercenaries would suddenly stand at attention and salute when they came by. "Sir!" shouted some of them, and Caius would gingerly salute in return. At the front desk, said young woman would perk up when she heard the voices. She looked to be in her early 20s, and possessed distinctly eastern features. "Oh, Mr. Caius! Is this a client, or a recruit? Her garb is so unusual for Torensten!" the girl spoke up at the sight of them. "Tomoe" Caius greeted her politely. "This is Miss Cindy. A friend I met while Vordun and I were on a flight. She's from Sonora, works as a mechanic -- for those vehicles that you see around Provo" Caius introduced Cindy then, deciding to use Provo as the example as he knew Tomoe was unlikely to have ever been to Sonora. She was far too upbeat to have even visited. "A client of hers asked her to move a car of his... To the capital city of Torensten. I think you can see the problem."
After a few moments, Tomoe would make a face, puffing up her cheeks. "But-but, there's no paved roads! Those tires would have the worst time! That means she would have had to pull by hand and---Ahhh he took her for a ride! That's terrible! Why would anyone do that?"
Caius shrugged with a long sigh. "I don't know, I'm afraid. But getting it the rest of the way to the city, and through the city itself at that, is going to be a serious challenge for her. Is there any chance someone here might know a spell that could lift a vehicle that's about the size of Vordun? It would be right of us to help Miss Cindy with her problem if we can."
"Oh, oh, I can do it Mr. Caius!" proclaimed Tomoe who had immediately shot out of her chair the moment Caius asked his question. "Yuki and I can both help, that'll make it easier to make the spell work! Then I can throttle her client myself!" she exclaimed in what was far too excitable a tone considering she had just implied a desire to "throttle" somebody. It was almost endearing, and Caius couldn't help but smile.
"If you want to, Tomoe, I would appreciate it. You are not obligated, of course, it's not part of your duties" Caius expressed, but Tomoe shook her head. "Oh no, it's not that I feel obligated! But I haven't had a chance to show you and Miss Celes my magic yet! I've been waiting for a chance to show what I can do, and it'll be good practice too! It's no problem at all."
Caius chuckled a bit at that, but would then bow his head in thanks. "Thank you, Tomoe. I will ensure that this client has you and Yuki recompensed for your time and for any crystals used in the process" he spoke up before turning to Cindy. "Is this alright with you, Miss Cindy?"
