TEACH THEM BOYS A LESSON
"Yeah, fish are really easy to come by. He must have fun getting them too. I would love to see him just splashin' around, goin' after fish." Like a kid in a mud puddle. It honestly sounded really cute to Cindy, and she wasn't sure if that was the intention for a dragon. Meat probably wasn't too hard to find for a dragon either, as the wildlife and monsters weren't hard to find.
When Caius said the boys were there, she did sigh in relief. She was really glad to hear that Noctis had his friends, especially if he had gotten the news that he had been king far sooner than expected. His next statement didn't really surprise her, but she wasn't going to press for details. "Well, those boys were usually getting themselves into one thing or another, so I'm not surprised. Hopefully they can get it all worked out."
Nodding, she took a sip of her tea. "Exactly. They kind of freaked me out when I was younger, but over time they grew on me. Cute little things." A lot of people would use them when their vehicles were getting worked on to get around, so she did see them a bit. The boys told her they were pretty fun, even with Prompto singing half the time.
"Yeah, I've heard some stories about people gettin' bucked off and even pecked at and chased. They are just overgrown chickens really." Once he mentioned machines, she gave a chuckle. "Now that's analogy I can follow." Machines were a headache sometimes, but those were the challenges she was up for.
Caius mentioned he'd bring Vordun and Cindy smiled. "I'm sure he would just love to show off how intimidating he can be." She had been talking about the cute things he could do, and that was good reminder that he was in fact, a dragon. He would probably not appreciate too much someone talking about him like he was a household pet.
"Yeah, none of that sounds like fun. Not sure I could do the things you do." Cindy could hold her own in a fight, but that didn't mean she wanted to do it constantly, or put herself in life threatening situations. She was just fine with her calm life. "He probably just soaked all that up." Everyone and everything enjoyed a good pampering once in a while, right?

The Dragonblades
Torensten was quite abundant in means to obtain meat. If you weren't afraid of a little danger, anyway. Much of the creatures you could eat also posed the risk of biting back. For a dragon however, this wasn't a problem whatsoever. Odds were Vordun had hunted creatures that Caius hadn't even hunted himself. At the least, Cindy didn't ask too many questions about Noctis and their troubles. While she seemed nice enough, she wasn't exactly on a list of people he would immediately spill a prison break to. Of course, all those efforts would be for naught as Cindy wound up showing up anyway.
He laughed a bit when she called chocobos "overgrown chickens". "I dunno, chickens I have found are generally far more volatile. Chocobo can be rowdy, but so long as you don't provoke them they usually won't peck. Of course, not everyone gets along with animals either" Caius mused aloud. "We have had people who get on the chocobo and soon after are bucked off. But the same one will be perfectly cooperative with the next person. Animals can sense things in people, I suppose."
Cindy agreed to Caius bringing Vordun to the little intimidation show, and that got a grin out of him. "I'm sure he will enjoy that" Caius agreed, trying not to laugh too hard at the thought of Vordun scaring the daylights out of their little scammer. He was very much looking forward to this, even if he tried not to show just how much. Scammers had no place in this city.
Speaking of Vordun, Cindy brought up that Vordun likely soaked up all the spoiling. "Indeed he did" Caius remarked with a bright smile. "He did not object to being pampered at all. And got so used to it that I've pampered him just a little more than usual since then. Suppose he deserves it. Though honestly it's just nice to be able to have him out openly here in Torensten. No more having to hide."
He squinted a moment as he looked her in the face though. For all the hard work she clearly did, he saw no real signs of battle on her. "I have to admit though, I am surprised to hear you say you couldn't do those things. You look like you could handle yourself in a scrap."
Looked like she could, but unlike everyone else from the Lucis he knew, also looked like she hadn't. Caius did have to remind himself though, that this Cindy was from a time before it was necessary.

"That's true. I've seen chickens just chase someone because they walked up to it. It's a good thing they provide us with food or they wouldn't last much longer." When he mentioned that animals could sense things, she gave a nod. "Exactly. I'll brag a little and say I'm a pretty calm and understanding person, so animals never really bother me." They mostly just let her be unless she was to go up to them to pet them or something, and that was that.
Their food arrived and Cindy thanked the waiter as she gave a smile when Caius stated Vordun would enjoy showing off. She picked up her fork and started to eat, and approved of her choice. The pasta was really good, and she would have to remember what it was in case she ever ate at the place again.
Taking a drink to help swallow her food, she smiled again. "As he should. He does a lot, and as a dragon, he gets his "payment" with affection and food. It's just like paying someone for doing a job." Animals didn't need money, they understood praise and food. Speaking of food, Cindy took another bit. She hadn't realized how hungry she was after all the work she had done.
After she had swallowed that bite, she gave a shrug. "I probably could. I was taught how to handle myself if something were to happen, but I would never go out of my way to find that something. I will stand up for my friends and family though, and you can bet your ass I won't go down easy." Cars were heavy, their parts were heavy. She was a mechanic, so of course she had quite a bit of muscle on her. She wasn't fully trained, but she did know how to fight.

The Dragonblades
Caius couldn't stop a stifled laugh when Cindy brought up the short story of seeing chickens chase people on sight. It was very on-brand, considering they had housed chickens alongside their chocobos. Those things would peck just about anyone who came near them. Even if you came with food. "I think it's the other way around. If we didn't keep them satisfied, I imagine they may very well band together against us. Peck us all to death in our sleep" came a dry attempt at humor. "Perhaps those chickens tolerate us just enough to keep us around."
At the least, he understood what Cindy meant by people who animals typically left alone. "I have usually been good with animals. Not every animal, but I seem to be able to at least indicate I mean no harm. Certainly helped with raising Vordun" Caius responded at that. It also helped that he had been the first thing Vordun saw when he hatched. So that was probably cheating, just a bit. But it had taken a very careful, patient and caring hand to raise such a volatile creature known only as... A baby. Babies were very dangerous and violent creatures. Imagine trying to raise one that had razor sharp teeth that could tear off your fingers.
Their food soon arrived, and Caius listened to Cindy as he dug in. It had in fact been a long flight back, and then the whole car pulling thing happened as well, so he was actually fairly hungry. Caius just had a good poker face, is all. But a smile broke through as Cindy equated pampering Vordun to paying someone for a job well done. "Well, he certainly gets paid well for his services. As he should" he remarked with a laugh before taking a long drink. He'd forgotten to drink from his canteen while pulling the car, and only when the water touched his lips did it hit him. This was an unfortunate habit of which came up often.
Cindy elaborated on the subject of fighting, saying she could, and had been taught. But chose not to if she couldn't help it. Caius had to hold in a laugh when she suddenly fired up, however, when it came to standing up for her friends. It was adorable, how fiery she suddenly became over it. But it was admirable, and he respected that willingness to do right by those she cared for. She would be able to hold her own, he was sure.
"That would explain things. I was curious, as you have a build one would expect from a fighter, but also lack the markings. Even wounds that don't scar can leave some kind of indent. Not that I doubt you could knock someone silly if you wanted, though. Are you sure you don't want to whack your scammer upside the head yourself? I don't think you need me to scare him straight."
That was a joke, that last part. She had said she wasn't going out of her way to fight.

Cindy gave a chuckle. "You could be right with that one." It was definitely not something she had planned for the day, getting scammed and then talking about chickens over a meal. It wasn't a bad way to spend the day in her opinion. Especially since it was starting to get later, and the day would soon be over so it was nice to enjoy it. "Yeah, I can see how that would come into play. If you're not good with animals, a dragon would not be somethin' to be around."
Caius dug into his food as well, and she was glad she wasn't the only one that didn't really realize how hungry they were. Cindy wasn't the type of girl to try to eat all cute and dainty. If she was hungry, she would dig into her food and not care what she looked like. She didn't care about appearances, she was female mechanic after all. You didn't see those very often.
"I was raised by my Pawpaw, so I've been around cars and shops most of my life. I learned how to turn a wrench at a very young age, and those parts are not light. A lot of my body type comes from that, and I'm very glad for it." There were some days where she thought about her parents and what her life would have been like if they had raised her. She probably would still be interested in cars since her Pawpaw was still close by.
"I mostly just don't want to deal with the asshole. I'll start yellin' and causin' a scene and I don't like doin' that."

The Dragonblade
How quaint had his life turned out? Going from surviving a decade of the Starscourge without ever seeing the sun, to now sitting here with a version of Miss Aurum that had never even seen it, talking about hypothetical invasions most fowl. He certainly hadn't expected his life to end up this way, that's for sure. In another world entirely, with people that were familiar, and yet... Also weren't, at the same time. Caius wasn't sure how to even begin to process the fact that Noctis, Prompto, and now Cindy were all his age now. When the ones he'd met before were a decade his senior. Though he wasn't too sure if Cindy was older than him or younger at this juncture... He didn't really intend on asking.
Caius dug in pretty heavily considering his previous hunger, and the fact Cindy had done the same meant that he didn't find reason to restrain much. He did however, listen as she talked about growing up turning wrenches and working with vehicles. Seems she was similar to him in that she just grew up around it, and learned from there. Just as he had with the chocobo farm. If not for Vordun, to be honest, he probably would have taken in a few chocobo by now. But a dragon was enough to care for by itself. At least for now. Maybe down the line, when he was a bit older and fighting a bit less, he would have the time.
"I can certainly admire the dedication that comes from continuing to pursue a passion like that all the way from a young age into your adult years. Especially when it sounds like a lot of work" Caius commented at that, though couldn't help a laugh when she remarked she just didn't want to be involved in a conflict.
"Vordun it is, then" Caius responded as he wiped his mouth once the food was finished. "Once we get the bill squared, feel free to lead the way to where you had the girls bring the car, and we'll get to it."

TEACH THEM BOYS A LESSON
There had been times throughout the day that Cindy had wanted to ask Caius about how life on their home world had turned out. Noctis had been king, but she knew that was coming. That's what happened when you were a prince and the king was no longer able to rule. She had decided against asking though. They weren't a part of that world anymore, and she wasn't sure if they would ever be again. There was no need to focus on what could have been. She needed to focus on the now.
Cindy chuckled. "Yeah, sometimes it can get pretty exhausting. When I get too tired, I'm the type to stop and try again the next day. No use in doin' a half-assed job when someone is paying you to fix somethin'." There had been a couple of times were she had to fix something someone else messed up because they hurried through it and weren't focused at the end of it. It wasn't fun.
"He needs somethin' to do, and scarin' a loser like this guy seems like just the thing to entertain him." Cindy was sure Vordun got his fair share of adventures, but he deserved some fun after helping her earlier. Giving a nod, she finished her food before flagging the waiter down. "I can't wait to see the look on his face." She was tempted to let Vordun "play" with the car before handing it over as well, but that would take up more time. She wanted to get this over with.

The Dragonblade
No use in doing a half-ass job because you're exhausted, she said. And she was right. Caius hated to admit it, but how many times had he overexerted himself in working on his weapons, or in other tasks? He had simply thought of it as gutting it out, but if it was reducing the quality of his work...
He'd have to keep that in mind. So at least he had picked something up in all this, aside from a potential friend of course. But the day wasn't over yet. While the bill would soon be paid and they would be on their way, there was still some enjoyment to be had in what was to come. What came was that the girls had transported the car where Cindy had instructed, but unbeknownst to Cindy, and to Caius, they had left a few surprises as well after having solicited the aid of young Claire Farron in doing so. However, they wouldn't be clear to see at first. What was visible right away, however, was the dragon that eagerly took the instruction to scare the poor guy with a resounding roar. They were convinced to pay Cindy the additional service charge for the cruel trick of making her lug the vehicle all the way through Torensten, which was enough for Cindy most likely.
However, the poor guy wouldn't get the car out of the area before the client found themselves blasted with glitter after opening the mirrors up. And then again when they opened the dash. And the trunk. The guy would be glitter-blasted from different areas of the car for over a week before it finally stopped. Probably shouldn't have done that to Cindy.
