Nick Zixian walked through the Port-Side City known as Torensten. It was quite intriguing to him since he hadn't seen a place like this before. After waking up on a sandy beach, it was good to see civilization again. He wandered around as he said himself "Well, this is quite a lively place to be. While it's not my own home, maybe I can find a temporary place to stay until I can figure out what to do next." This young teenage boy was not quite used to this new world that he ended up in, but at least he still had his possessions from the previous world that he came from.
He decided to go looking around at some market stalls located by the port, while a warm gentle wind would blow upon his face. It seems from what he saw that there were people selling fruits, vegetables, potions and even fresh fish that had a salty scent to them. He personally thought about buying some, it wouldn't be a particularly bad idea. But, there were some crowds that surrounded these merchant stalls. It seems there would be a small wait time for supply-buying. "Well, I guess I'll sit on the pier and look out into the ocean."
Nick would go over to the local pier and find an empty spot to take a seat. He'd come across one unoccupied spot that had two wooden poles across from it, and gently sat down as he looked out to the blue ocean that was in front of him. Staring at this view gave him serenity at a time where he uncertain of what to do next.
"Good thing I am not in danger right now, that would really spoil the mood." He thought to himself as he took a deep breath in through his nose and then slowly exhaled as he looked at the ocean. It currently morning right now, which gave him plenty of time to relax for a bit before moving on to find a temporary place to stay.

The Dragonblades
"Good thing I am not in danger right now, that would really spoil the mood" he had told himself, and perhaps he had jinxed it. But in truth, the events to come were an unfortunate inevitability. You see, there were a few things that you didn’t do. You don’t tug on General Chere’s cape. You don’t look into a dragon’s mouth. And you don’t let your guard down in front of the pier of Torensten without backup nearby. So it was that the poor teenage lad who could pass for a member of the university of magic with that hat, would suffer the dire consequences of breaking Torensten Rule Number 3. What were these consequences, you might ask? I'm glad you asked, morbid curiosity or not.
Bubbles would begin to, well, bubble up from the water below, and within moments, a giant fish with large and very sharp fangs would rise from the ocean and attempt to take a bit old bite out of the poor lad. Hopefully the boy knew how to draw an Anti Giant Fish circle, otherwise he was going to be in some serious trouble. Luckily for him, as what happened everytime that a monster showed up in Toresten, people began screaming and running for their lives.
He would probably get his backup ere long. If he could survive that long.

Nick would notice something rising from the water, which got his attention for the moment. He would ask himself, "What is that?" as he watched the water continue to bubble. That's when he saw it... a giant fish with large and very sharp fangs rising from the water. He would immediately get up and take ten steps back in fear.
"Oh goodness! A giant fish! Let's see... offense or defense first...?" He said to himself as he quickly thought about what he should do first. He was trying to not be afraid, but his fear was visible through his sweat glands. He wasn't exactly the best Red Mage yet, but he would promise to train whenever he could. Perhaps this could be a good example. However, he wasn't sure what this creature was capable of doing.
After thinking for a moment, he decided to cast a Protect spell on himself. He would hold up his wooden staff and shouted "Protect!" as he casted the spell on himself to boost his defense. As the spell was casted, he felt his body get coated in a layer of protection that would reduce some damage from any incoming attacks. It wouldn't make him impenetrable to any attacks, but at least it could possibly keep him alive until someone else arrived to help. He was thinking of attacking first, but thought it'd be logical to be on the defensive first.
"I swear... only after a couple of days or so of being lost in this place and I am already in danger! Let's hope someone can help assist me..." He thought to himself as he heard the screams of civilians running away from the danger-zone, afraid for their lives. This was the first battle that he was going to fight in this unknown realm that he had been placed in by some unknown fate.

The Dragonblades
With people running for their lives, it didn’t take long to get the attention of soldiers and warriors alike. The kid would use Protect and stall the thing for a bit longer, but big fishy fish was pretty damn determined to get its fleshy dinner. Luckily for the kid, it wouldn't take long before just the help he needed would arrive.
"FIRA!"
The guards and freelance warriors that called the city home would back away as a beastly roar accompanied by the magic call would sound through the air. A large fireball would pelt the beast, before an even bigger one would match it. A man with long blonde hair stood atop the back of a dragon. The beast was just a bit bigger than a horse, while the rider was clad in armor and standing atop a saddle. Mutters of "Caius" would sound through the crowd, and even some civilians would return with curious eyes, wanting to see the famed mercenary in action for themselves.
Big fish meanwhile, wasn't happy about being sent recoiling back from its dinner by the searing flames. It would reel back before shooting an icy breath into the air towards the dragon. The dragon would barrel roll through the air to dodge it, before the rider would draw his sword just as they came into contact with it. The sword was soon clad in flames before slicing through the fish's scales.
"Stand back and cover me from a distance!" Caius called to Nick, recognizing quickly that they were primarily a magic user. He could also run if he wanted, Caius didn't mind. But since the kid had decided not to run so far, he had a feeling that this wasn't part of the plan for him.

The young teenager would back off a bit further, thinking of staying on the defensive as he heard the loud roar of a great beast coming from behind him, followed by a big fireball that was launched at the aquatic creature when a spell name was called forth!
"My goodness... where did that come from?!" Nick said as he turned around saw a man with long blonde hair equipped with armor, standing on the top of a big dragon. He had heard of dragons from stories told from his mother as a young child, but never thought that he would see one up close. This would be the only opportunity that he would get to see one. It seems that according to the young teenager, when the big fish got hit by the big fireball, it became very agitated since it seemed intent on devouring him. He was curious about the man that he had come into encounter with, but didn't have the time for asking any big questions. After all, the main focus was the dangerous sea creature.
Nick would then watch as the aquatic creature attempted to launch a counter-attack, only for it to fail when the man riding on the dragon was able to dodge the attack. He was quite surprised to see them draw a sword that would soon be clad in flames before the next attack occurred, it was an impressive sight to behold. When the gentleman asked him to stand back and provide support, he would nod in reply.
"Yes sir, I'll do my best!" The young teenager would reply as he backed up further so that he wouldn't be directly in the line of fire from the aquatic beast that was threatening everyone. He immediately raised his wooden staff into the air and shouted loudly "Protect!" as he casted the White Magic protection spell on the man who was battling the beast from the sea, wanting to give him some protection against incoming damage. Nick was relieved that someone had come to help him. If it was any later, he would've been dead for sure!
He was curious about the word he heard when that one spell was cast, Fira. He wasn't sure if he could put his finger on it, but it had been a while since he had learned the basic Fire spell from his mother. He took a guess that it was an improved version of the Fire spell. He wanted to think more on it, but now wasn't the time since he was in a battle, and there wasn't much time for idle thinking!

The Dragonblades
Normally, the soldiers and warriors would have jumped in by now. But for the time being, the man and his dragon appeared to have a handle on things, so they stood by for the time being. And they couldn't help but be mesmerized by the sight. Many of them had heard rumors about the mercenary who had rode into battle on a dragon against the Kraken. But it was another thing to actually see them in action.
As for Caius. Now that the kid was better out of harm's way, he could get serious. But the fish wasn't out of tricks just yet. When the Antarctic Wind didn't work, it decided to fight fire with fire. Literally. Caius wasn't exactly expecting it to breathe fire at him and Vordun, but there it was. Luckily Nick's Protect would protect Caius and Vordun when the fiery breath grazed them. But the beast continued moving its fiery breath in hopes of engulfing the two in it. Vordun would launch his own fiery breath to combat it, and the spectators would be granted a show of fireworks as the two fires would collide. "Fly up" Caius told Vordun as the dragon would move upwards, continuing to launch fire at it while he did. Engaged in the battle now, the Anet fish would leap out of the water and into the air, giving up its advantage to continue attacking.
A wry grin crossed Caius' features.
"Checkmate."
It couldn't move or dodge now, and there was less risk to wildlife or sailors if he attacked with what he had in mind now. It seemed to be able to use fire and blizzard magic, meaning it likely had resistances as well... So there was only one thing left that Caius hadn't tried.
"Thundara."
Caius summoned both his sword and the duel-sided blade. Splitting the blade into two daggers that he held with different fingers on his left hand while holding the sword with his right, he would enchant the blades with a strong lightning magic. Caius would promptly dive off Vordun while the dragon kept the fish busy, narrowly avoiding the flames as he continued to quite literally skydive towards the giant fish. He would promptly hurl each blade like a dart, each one thrown with power and precision that pierced the fish's scales with electrifying results. But Caius kept falling. He saw though, that the electricity was clearly hurting it, meaning that it had a weakness. Time to finish it off, then.
The magic still danced along his fingers, yet to wear off. So why not put it to use? He allowed the dancing sparks to engulf both his hands, crackling across his knuckles as both hands radiated electricity. As he closed in on the sparking giant fish, he would bring his fist down as hard as he could. The superhuman strength of a Kingsglaive wasn't talked about enough, but it was apparently enough to send the fish flying, crackling and all, across the harbor. Fish hit solid ground like the catch of the day, and Caius would use the fish as a crash pad to cushion his fall. Pulling out his blades, he would de-summon them before stepping off.
Applause rang throughout the harbor and Caius took a deep breath in turn, needing to regain his bearings. Well, he hadn't meant to make a spectacle out of this. But what can you do? His gaze turned to the kid, then.

Nick would watch from a distance as the man did battle with the aquatic beast, quite amazed with the spell casting abilities that he had. He hadn't seen anyone before that could use a sword and cast spells as well! Perhaps he was a mage as well? Maybe he'd get some answers after the whole fight was over with.
He was thinking of going on the offensive and launching a Fire attack at the beast, but it looked like this gentleman had the whole situation under control. This beast that the young teenage red-mage-in-training was observing seemed to be resistant to certain abilities, which is quite intriguing. This could help when he was dealing with other hostile creatures in the field, or at least teach him that some creatures may have weaknesses. Good thing he didn't consider casting his own Fire spell at the beast, it wouldn't be a very effective attack.
After the man had dealt with the beast from the sea, Nick watched as the man had used the conquered enemy as a cushion to soften his fall. He was simply mesmerized by everything and it left him thinking idle thoughts. When he was asked by the man if he was alright, he would snap out of his idle thinking and respond.
"Yes, I am alright. I was just a little surprised and afraid of that creature, but I should be fine. Allow me to introduce myself... I am Nick Zixian, Red Mage in training. I am from the Town of Gaia in another world. A place that is home to fairies, or at a least a fairy spring from what I know. I thank thee for saving me from that creature. I was very much unprepared and caught off guard when it appeared from the water." said Nick as he introduced himself.
The 17-year old teen would await an answer from the man clad in armor as he looked at his equipped armor for the moment. He hadn't seen anything like it, at least from what he knows. He always wore his red robe and red wizard hat, nothing else to it. It was basic light armor for a Red Mage like him since he wasn't exactly the beefy warrior type.

The Dragonblades
Following his unexpected spectacle, Caius very much intended on heading back home. That's where they had been going, anyway. He had been flying over Torensten with intentions of returning to the homestead when they had caught sight of the scene. He listened though, as the kid was very quick to explain himself to be an offworlder, and even got into detail. A bit overly trusting, wasn't he? Even if Caius had just helped him against this fish thing, he didn't quite approve of the kid's giving away such details so soon, and in the middle of the street too. Or the port, anyway. If this had been Sonora, this kid would have been locked up in a high security cell about five seconds ago.
"Caius" he introduced himself with a small, courteous bow of his head. "The dragon beside me is Vordun. We're part of a mercenary guild in town, called the Dragonblades. I would recommend checking it out if you're looking for work, we do employ off-worlders. And much of our work involves helping people who need it. We do some goodwill type peacekeeping on the side as well, if that is of interest to you. There's also a magic school here, for when you can scrounge up the gil. Not too terribly expensive, but worth it as it might help you complete your magic education. One of the Dragonblades leaders, Celes, also trains new recruits, and she knows a fair amount of magic of her own" he spoke up. "I actually think she mentioned being classed as a Red Mage herself" he then mused in turn.

"A pleasure to meet thee, Caius and Vordun." said Nick as he gave a gentle and friendly smile. When he mentioned that he worked for a Mercenary Guild, he believed that it would be a good opportunity to help him find a temporary place to stay for a while, and also be able to help people out with the use of his spells. Since he only knew Fire and Protect, he also thought that this Celes person might be able to help him out. He didn't quite have the Gil to afford any magic schooling, nor did he have any left after leaving his home world.
Maybe he could even settle down for a while and get adjusted to the new world that he has found himself within. The only question he had yet to answer: Why had the comet brought him to this world in particular, or did it actually bring it him here? The answer couldn't be found for the moment, but perhaps there could be one. If not, it would just become a mystery left unsolved.
"About the Dragonblades guild... I am very much interested in checking it out. After all, I promised to my mother before she was killed years ago by a thief, that I would use my spells for the good of the people. Where can I find this guild, If I may ask good sir?"He said in reply. He looked at Vordun the Dragon, and thought about maybe trying to pet them. But he knew better not to pet someone's creature unless he asked for permission and decided against it, believing it would make the whole conversation go awkward. After saying his response, he would wait for Caius's response on his question.

The Dragonblades
“We’re mercenaries, we work for a living. Kinda have to if we want to be able to peacekeep” he reminded him when he got a bit carried away with the “good for the people” thing. “But the jobs we take typically involve monsters, so dealing with them helps everyone out. And makes for good practice for when the Kraken shows up, that’s when the peacekeeping aspect comes around. If you’re looking purely for peacekeeping, you could also enlist at the local guard here, though I don’t have any contacts with them and I don’t know how much freedom of travel you’re given. If you want to remain semi-independent though, the Dragonblades would be your best bet.”
Right, speaking of Krakens... "Keep in mind. Ever since the whole Kraken thing, we've been getting hired for some pretty tough, high level jobs. Seriously dangerous stuff. While we won't personally send you on anything that we know for sure will be extremely tough, not until you can prove you can handle it. If someone hears the name "Dragonblade" they may try to hire you to do something crazy. So I'd keep your wits about you if you do join up and know your limits."
As for his question, he smiled slightly. "Guess I could take you myself. Can't hurt to stop by before we head back out. We can go whenever you're ready."
