Nick would listen to Clair respond to him, and was quite surprised to hear that she had actually seen Caius in action themselves. This included how she wanted to see the rest of them of action as well, including himself. He nodded and chuckled to himself a bit.
"Well... I think it might be a bit before I see some serious action. It'll probably do me some good to not rush towards danger off the bat." said Nick as he watched the young lady grab something from the wooden job board. It appeared to be a note on a small square of paper. This sheet of paper had intrigued him. "Oh? What is this?"
The young teenager took the note from Claire and read it over, it seems that someone by the name of Mr. Lawrence was looking for a courier that would be able to deliver goods across from town. He thought it over for a moment and said "I think this is a pretty good job to start with, wouldn't mind delivering items as long as I know where to go. I'll certainly have to get used to living here. Especially, if I am to know where everything is." as he decided to hold onto it for the time being.

"That actually sounds good, being able to learn the weaknesses of certain monsters will certainly come in handy. I look forward to my classes when the time comes. Perhaps I'll also look to the locals on gathering information on any wild creatures, if it comes to need." Nick said in an eager tone. This young teenager was going to certainly have quite a time learning about the creatures of this world, for he had yet to see all of them. Except for that big ocean creature he saw before.
Nick listened to Claire speak to him, mentioning to him that he'd able to adjust to it all his own pace, just as long as he treated this as his own little adventure. She also told him that he had more help that he actually realized, which was nice to know since he was going to need all the help he could get. He nodded in response as he said "I don't think I'd mind treating this as a little adventure, it may as well be the next chapter in my life."
The young man followed Claire, whom lead him to a wooden board that had an assortment of jobs for people to do it. They were all written down a parchment and displayed for all to see. When the lady directed his attention to the section that had important tasks for younger people to perform, he made sure to pay attention to the words that she spoke. After she finished, he'd say to her "Good idea, definitely wise to start out small, and expand outwards after I gain a little more experience. Maybe one day you shall see the Dragonblades Guild in action. Thanks for introducing me to the university, and for showing me around!"

"Yeah... the creatures in this world are quite something, I tell ya!" said Nick as he slightly adjusted his hat for a bit. As the young-man listened to Claire, he heard her mention that she was defenseless when she had arrived in this world. "It must've been tough getting to your feet in an unfamiliar place, I'm already going through that. There's still a lot for me to learn." He felt bad for her since not being able to truly defend yourself is a rather frightening thing to imagine, since one could easily be cut down by a hostile individual if they are unable to fight back.
It was onto the next part of the conversation: The Job Board. During this talk, the young lady had mentioned the Job Boards and that it'd be a good way to make money aside from taking jobs from the guild. The red-mage-in-training didn't mind having some rainy day money, which can come in handy if work is hard to find with the guild. Which may be likely. He'd say to her "Sure, I wouldn't mind checking out the Job Board to see what that is like. Also... that tour of the campus doesn't sound too bad either. It'd be neat to know every single room. I'd hate to get lost after all" as he chuckled to himself.
He went along with Claire to see this board of jobs that she was speaking about. Maybe he could find a simple one to work with, especially a task that wouldn't involve the risk of potential death. Nick didn't want to get seriously injured to the point where he ended up dying on the job. Delivering stuff probably didn't sound bad for a first job.

"Yeah, Caius did get to me first. It was quite interesting how I encountered him. It was a good couple of days ago or so, I think. He actually saved me from a big ocean creatures. It's nice that he also helped you out, before I came across him. He's a pretty nice guy from what I've seen of him so far." said Nick as he dusted off his hat a bit. Not wanting it to be covered in dust.
He then said to Claire, noticing how embarrassed she was after realizing that Caius got to him first and said to her "No need to worry about it, I think no matter what... someone was going to reach out for me first, and it could've been anyone. Fate is interesting like that, and so is this world I've found myself in. I think we are going to be pretty good friends."
When the teen was asked what he wanted to do now, he'd say "I'd say I wouldn't mind checking out the Job Board first before heading back to the Dragonblades Guild to report on the news of finding the university. They also may perhaps have some tasks for me that'd be good for those starting out as recruits."

Nick was sitting on a bench, just chilling out and enjoying the weather for what it was. Mostly just thinking to himself about everything has happened to him so far. He thought to himself 'Alright... so I've got myself signed up for University classes, which will really help me along. For making money of course, I definitely should be careful not to take on anything to dangerous, or I'll end up dead in some river or something. Maybe sunk at the bottom of an ocean.'
The young teenager pushed that thought aside for the time being, but aside from that... he was excited for learning some new skills at the University. More skills meant he'd become stronger with his use of magic, and Red Mages had the ability to useBlack and White Magic. He only had a Fireball and Protect spell. Not a grand set of skills, but they were good to start out with.
He wondered if he was going to run into anyone new today, or if it was just going to be a regular day. So far, his time here in Torensten had been quite an interesting one, and he didn't mind having more friends. He was going to need them if he was to survive in this new world that he was transported to.

"Why thank you, that's very kind of your sister to do. After all, money isn't always easy to come by. I am pleased that I don't have to rush this." said Nick as his lips curved upward into a gentle smile. Pleased he didn't have to worry about money right now. The young teenage Red-Mage in training continued to listen to what Claire had to say to him. When she mentioned to not go for the big pay-outs on the job board, he'd nod in agreement saying "Good point... yeah, I shouldn't throw myself in a job that could possibly get me killed." Taking on big jobs that he wasn't ready for was the last thing he'd want to do, unless he was actually teamed up with someone. It'd be a rather big risk. After all, he only knew a few select spells, and that isn't going to be enough to take on anything bigger.
While listening to her speak about possible ways to earn money in this world, she mentioned the Dragonblades Guild and was rather surprised. After all, he himself was actually a part of the guild, or at least a recruit in-training. He then said to her "Surprisingly enough... I am part of that guild. I came across recently, and I am pretty much an member-in-training there for the moment, so I do technically have a roof over my head. I actually met a man that was part of the guild itself. His name Caius. Met him by the port. Though... the Inns do sound interesting as well just in case." He'd wait to see her response to his answer.

Nick was rather relieved that the classes weren't expensive and that there were some teachers that could help him out with his classes, he said to Claire as he looked at the syllabus "That's good, it's always good to have help. Can't just learn everything by myself after all, and about that combat elective class... I don't think I'd mind. I could use more skill in combat." He figured it'd be nice to get some combat skill under his belt, it'd make him better in actual fights.
The next recommendation given to him by Claire was the Magic Crystal usage class, which did rather intrigue him. Could he possibly learn to use a magical crystal to cast spells with, especially if he staff broke or if he didn't have it on him during a battle. It'd be very helpful to learn about. He'd respond to her saying "Magic Crystal usage, don't think I'd mind learning about that. It could come in handy."It seems that these classes he was going to take was going to start on a simpler path, which was a good thing, or at least as simple as it could be. Everyone has to start somewhere when it comes to learning magic.
Now it was onto the next important aspect: getting the money to pay for them. Nick was going to need a lot of gil to pay for the classes even as cheap as they are. A payment is still needed. When Claire offered to bring him to the job board, he'd nod towards her and responded with "Sure, I wouldn't mind going there and checking it out after we are finished here. After all, these classes won't pay for themselves." He didn't know what jobs would be up for grabs, but it was definitely worth inspecting to see what he could take on.

"Thank you sir, it'll be a great honor to learn in a great educational building such as this place!" said Nick as he gently gave the crystal back to the examiner. He then walked out of the testing room with them. He was quite happy that the testing went great, a step closer to becoming a Red Mage was gained. However... he was going to need to do more training in order to become a Red Mage. Today, he has made progress towards his goal. One thing that surprised him that the dummy that he had hit with the Fire spell didn't spread the flames, but instead turned into particles of light and disappeared. He thought to himself "Well mother... I've taken the first step to becoming a great Red Mage like you were..."
After exiting the testing room with the examiner, the young teenager looked towards the man who watched over his testing and said to him "I actually have two questions: will these classes cost anything, and what kind of classes will I be taking?" He was certainly curious about what this university had to offer and how much it was going to cost him. After all, this couldn't be without price right? Because he did hear from Caius about the magic school costing some Gil, something he didn't really have.
When he saw Claire again, he was asked by her about the results of the test. He smiled towards her gently and said "I believe I did a good job. While my Fire spell took some warming up, I did cast it on the second attempt. I was able to also cast my Protect spell on the first try, so I seem to be pretty good on Defense. I must definitely work on improving my Offensive spell casting." Nick was definitely very excited and eager to start learning more spells and improving on his mana capacity. He almost couldn't contain himself, and his excitement was quite visible on his face. Nick looked at his mother's staff that he his held in right hand and imagined what his mother would say to him. Just as he thought about it, he thought he could hear his mother's gentle voice speaking to him in his ears. It had to be! He looked around the room for five seconds, and suddenly saw a blue transparent figure in front of him, standing next to . It appeared to be his mother Zaellia from the appearance that he saw. This ghostly figure was wearing a robe that was similar to the Red Mage's Robe she had worn in the past, and she had long hair. He asked himself "Mother....? Is that you? Have you appeared in spirit from the skies above?"
"Yes... it is your mother. I am proud of you my son... you've started on the right path. For the times will be tough, but I believe you'll be able to get through. You've definitely grown, but you have a lot more growing to do. Stay true to yourself, even if you stray at times. The friends you make along the path of life, will help you in times of need. Farewell for now... my son. I shall see you again..."
Nick watched as her ghost vanished from sight in a small circle of blue sparkles, he was quivering in sadness. He almost couldn't contain himself as some tears streamed down his eyes. He wiped the tears using his sleeve as he looked back at Claire.

"Thank you! I'll do my best to find it, see you later!" Nick said to him while waving goodbye as he left the Blue Torch Lady and Caius behind. He hoped that he could find a university to train his magic in. He only knew two spells, and that wasn't going to get him very far. He needed much more knowledge than what he was taught in the past as a young child.
"This world has just gotten more interesting... but I am sure I'll get used to it myself, well... off on my little adventure!" Nick thought to himself as he made his way away from the guild building, the place that would be his home for the time being. For a new world, this was going to take getting used to. There was going to be a lot to see and discover in this land.

Nick looked at the examiner as he caught the crystal that was tossed to him, he then listened to them explain the first part and second parts of the examination. He gently examined the testing crystal itself, Which looked pretty interesting in itself. He then nodded to the person giving the exam as he made sure to do his best to focus his magic as he held the crystal in both of his hands, taking a deep breath in and then slowly exhaling as he focused.
Once he had done that to the best of his ability, he went onto the second part of the examination. He thought to himself 'Alright then.... let's do our best here....' as he held the testing crystal in place. The first spell he would cast is Protect as he took a deep breath and then said to himself "Protect!" as he attempted to cast the spell, which did seemingly work as he felt some form of protection on him. The next one he would try to cast while holding the crystal was Fire, he sometimes had trouble with this particular spell. But he was going to try his hardest to cast it! He didn't want to give up this easily, he had to show the examiner what he was capable of, even if he didn't have many spells at the moment. He definitely wanted to learn more spells in order to increase his knowledge in magic and the amount of spells he could use.
"Fire!" He said to himself as he attempted to cast the spell and aimed it towards the training dummy, only for it to oddly fizzle out. He decided to give it one more try as he gave it another try, making sure to aim it towards the training dummy in the room. "Alright.... Fire!" This time, the spell actually worked as he launched a small ball of fire towards the practice target that was set up in the room. He hoped that this would be good enough to show that he had the potential to be a Red-Mage. He then awaited for what the examiner had to say on these results. He thought to himself 'Mother.... I am hoping that you're watching from the skies in spirit... It's not been easy without you. But I will find a way to live my life, and this exam is part of that journey!'
