Nick would notice something rising from the water, which got his attention for the moment. He would ask himself, "What is that?" as he watched the water continue to bubble. That's when he saw it... a giant fish with large and very sharp fangs rising from the water. He would immediately get up and take ten steps back in fear.
"Oh goodness! A giant fish! Let's see... offense or defense first...?" He said to himself as he quickly thought about what he should do first. He was trying to not be afraid, but his fear was visible through his sweat glands. He wasn't exactly the best Red Mage yet, but he would promise to train whenever he could. Perhaps this could be a good example. However, he wasn't sure what this creature was capable of doing.
After thinking for a moment, he decided to cast a Protect spell on himself. He would hold up his wooden staff and shouted "Protect!" as he casted the spell on himself to boost his defense. As the spell was casted, he felt his body get coated in a layer of protection that would reduce some damage from any incoming attacks. It wouldn't make him impenetrable to any attacks, but at least it could possibly keep him alive until someone else arrived to help. He was thinking of attacking first, but thought it'd be logical to be on the defensive first.
"I swear... only after a couple of days or so of being lost in this place and I am already in danger! Let's hope someone can help assist me..." He thought to himself as he heard the screams of civilians running away from the danger-zone, afraid for their lives. This was the first battle that he was going to fight in this unknown realm that he had been placed in by some unknown fate.

Nick Zixian walked through the Port-Side City known as Torensten. It was quite intriguing to him since he hadn't seen a place like this before. After waking up on a sandy beach, it was good to see civilization again. He wandered around as he said himself "Well, this is quite a lively place to be. While it's not my own home, maybe I can find a temporary place to stay until I can figure out what to do next." This young teenage boy was not quite used to this new world that he ended up in, but at least he still had his possessions from the previous world that he came from.
He decided to go looking around at some market stalls located by the port, while a warm gentle wind would blow upon his face. It seems from what he saw that there were people selling fruits, vegetables, potions and even fresh fish that had a salty scent to them. He personally thought about buying some, it wouldn't be a particularly bad idea. But, there were some crowds that surrounded these merchant stalls. It seems there would be a small wait time for supply-buying. "Well, I guess I'll sit on the pier and look out into the ocean."
Nick would go over to the local pier and find an empty spot to take a seat. He'd come across one unoccupied spot that had two wooden poles across from it, and gently sat down as he looked out to the blue ocean that was in front of him. Staring at this view gave him serenity at a time where he uncertain of what to do next.
"Good thing I am not in danger right now, that would really spoil the mood." He thought to himself as he took a deep breath in through his nose and then slowly exhaled as he looked at the ocean. It currently morning right now, which gave him plenty of time to relax for a bit before moving on to find a temporary place to stay.

As Nick Zixian was being nudged, he finally had awoken from being unconscious. He was quite surprised and happy to see another person in this strange land that he didn't know, at least he wasn't alone on these sandy beaches. The young teenager would slowly get up and brush the small grains of sand from his wet Red Mage Robe. He would look into the eyes of the individual that had awoken him and said humbly "Thank you for awaking me, I suppose I've been out cold for quite some time. My name is Nick Zixian, a Red Mage in training."
While he was conversing with this new person that he came into encounter with, he looked around for his Red Wizard Hat, Wooden Staff, and also leather bag that contained his items. He would find these items inches away from where he was laying on the sandy beach. Upon finding his belongings, he'd immediately picked them up. The first thing he did was put on his Red Wizard Hat and then gently put his leather bag over his shoulder. It had a small amount of weight to it since he had some potions and an antidote inside.
"This new land... it's not my home or any place that I remember from my past as a young child. Do you know where I am, madam?" The young teenager would ask the lady as he held onto his mother's Wooden Staff that was given to him as a gift, holding it tight. He hadn't seen anyone like this before, or at least anyone with this appearance, so it was a unique experience for him. Could this be a potential ally for him, maybe even a new friend? Or maybe even a teacher for him to learn more magic spells?
Upon the white and sandy beaches of The Pale Coast, the unconscious body of a seven-teen year old teenager laid quietly as the gentle waves of the ocean water beat upon the sand. It seems that on this day, it was a rather warm afternoon without a cloud in the sky. The sky above with a bright blue coloration. And the winds... were as gentle as they could be. Barely blowing the sand along. Nearby would be some green tropical forests, possibly with creatures that are either passive or maybe territorial. A few feet inches away from him were his Wooden Staff and Red Wizard Hat, the young teen most likely dropped them when he passed out. If they had dropped into the ocean, they would’ve certainly sunk right to the bottom. Some seagulls had decided to gather near his body, curious about him.
While the rest of his items remained dry, it seems that the only thing that got wet were his Red Robes. Entirely drenched in salty cold sea water, with small grains of sand added in as well. It wouldn’t be easy to get the sand out of his outfit, probably take a few hours to do so.
This young teenager would be in for quite a surprise when he wakes up, for he would be in an unknown land. In his current condition, all he could dream of his previous memories with his mother in his home city of Gaia. Watching her practice her spells, which would then lead up to the moment of her unfortunate demise because of that one thief that escaped from the prison that was holding him. It was like reliving it all over again, but not being able to do much to change it. Eventually, some random passerby would find this unconscious young man laying peacefully on the sandy beach.

Nick Zaxian
"While learning magic isn't easy in the long run, its rewarding when one fully masters a spell"

II. PERSONA
Nick is a honest, polite, patient and friendly individual. His honesty comes from his mother Zaellia, who always stressed the importance of being honest, and that telling lies never makes anything better.
He enjoys sitting outside on nicer days, and taking in the sky above him. It gives him solace for a moment, allowing him to relax after training with his own mother. Nick also makes sure to be polite with people, even if the people he encounter might be unpleasant towards him. There have been times as a young child at the age of seven, where he has been caught by his own mother, being impolite to someone.
He was also taught an important lesson in patience by his mother, when she was teaching him basic spells like Fire. She'd always mention to him "Patience is the most important aspect to learning spells. Rushing everything will ruin the process and make your spell-casting less refined." That lesson would stick with him for the rest of his life.
He also really hated thieves of any kind, and would be reluctant to team up with one, even if he didn't have much of a choice. After all, a thief from outside his home tried to steal his wooden staff from him at the age of six, but was able to hit the thief with it before he tried to steal it away. That is why he hates thieves with a passion, or anyone that tries to take items away from those who are less fortunate.
III. BACKGROUND
During Nick's childhood in the city of Gaia. his mother Zaellia would teach her only son how to become a Red Mage like she was. She began instructing him at the age of six, and even gave him her old wooden staff that she used to use as a young kid.
The first spell he would teach her son was Fire, a basic Black Magic spell that she believed was perfect for his first lesson. It took him five months or so before he eventually was able to cast the spell successfully. His mother had scrolls of previous spells that she used in the past when she was working on becoming a Red Mage herself.
During one warm summer morning, Nick would be taught another spell by his mother: Protect. It was a White Magic Spell that enhances the defense or protection of the target. She wanted him to cast this spell on herself for practice, since she didn't want him casting spells on random strangers. At first, he didn't do quite well, but then began to slowly improve over a duration of three months. His mother made sure that he'd practice the spell everyday, whenever he had the chance.
This way of coaching would help her son eventually be able to cast the Protect spell with success. She was proud of her young boy being able to get the spell right. Her son wanted to learn even more spells, but she told him that she would wait until he was fifteen. Nick would nod his head and say "Yes mother,"
From there, he would practice those two spells on his own time, bettering himself with casting them. Improving a slow but good rate. He was on the path of the Red Mage, but far from mastering his spells.
IV. HISTORY
One year ago in the city of Gaia, during a warm summer a twenty-five year old woman by the name of Zaellia gave birth to her one and only beautiful son. She decided to name him Nick since it seemed like a simple name. At this time, dangerous monsters were known to be wandering around in the wild, so everyone always kept their guard up.
She did her best as a single mother to raise her son properly, making sure to teach him proper manners. They lived in a small home that was next to the magic shop, which allowed for Zaellia to do some shopping. Of course, there were times where Nick would get himself into trouble, which mostly involved being rude to the locals. This was easily corrected, but in a way that wasn't cruel. All she would do is gently remind him that its not nice to be rude to people and that being polite was the best and proper way to befriend people.
At the age of four, Nick would watch his mother perform some spells, and was curious about it she did it. His mother would say to him "Interested in being a Red Mage, dear? That's what my profession is. I am trained to cast both White and Black magic spells. While it takes time to become good at it, if you have the patience... then you can become the best Red Mage like many others are. Would you like to learn how?" Her own son would nod his head and say "Yes, mother! I'd like that!"
"Alright Nicky, I'll be happy to teach you. Once you turn six years old, then... your training shall begin." Zaellia would say in reply as she returned to practicing some of her spells, all while her son watched with eagerness as he sat on the wooden floor of their home. She could've trained him now, but she wanted to wait for him to get older so that he might be able to understand basic spells.
As time went on, Nick Zixian would eventually have his sixth birthday during the summer in the evening. The locals of this town would attend this event as well, and a delicious cake was baked for the occasion. Even some of the fairies would attend. When it was time to present gifts, the young boy was given the most important thing for his sixth birthday: His mother's Wooden Staff that she used for spell casting. He'd say to his mother "Thank you mother! But what will you use now to practice your spells?"
"I'll just buy a new one, don't worry about me my son. This is my gift to you, and it is your sixth birthday after all. Make sure to keep it safe. Your training begins during the harvest season" Zaellia said to him. Her son would nod in understanding as he looked at the wooden staff within his hands, and then up towards the evening skies as he watched some fairies flying around. Aside from his staff, he got other gifts like potions, and an antidote. Not really anything special, but he enjoyed them none the less.
Five days later when Nick was out with his mother at the armory, there was a thief in leather robes who barged in brandishing a dagger, demanding that the shop keeper give up their goods or there would be trouble, he would then eye the wooden staff and walk over to the young boy, saying "Hey kid, give me that wooden staff, you don't need it!" While thieves weren't very common here, it still happened occasionally. Nick would shout "No! My mother gave this to me as a gift, you can't have it!"
"Hand it over... or there's going to be trouble! It can be sold for a lot of Gil!" the thief demanded once again. His mother would immediately step in front of her son, and smack the thief in the face. The thief stumbled back a bit, but kept his balance, and would then knock the woman out of the way. Going right for the Wooden Staff being held by the young boy. To try and protect himself, Nick decided to hit the man on the top of the head with his wooden staff, which did minimal damage at best.
"Ahahahaha! You call that a hit?! Pathetic..." said the thief as he swung his dagger towards the boys face. Nick would do his best to try and move out of the way, but ended up getting hit below the right eye. Causing some bleeding. The mother would immediately get up and go over to her son, who was now crying in pain. With small amounts of blood going down his cheek.
"You awful man! You should be thrown in prison for hurting my son! Be glad I won't consider casting a Fire spell at you!" Zaellia shouted as a few guards arrived just in time to come and arrest the thief for attempted theft and murder. It seems that the worst was over, for now.
A few months after that terrible event, Nick had begun his training to become a Red Mage like his mother was. She had bought him a Red Wizards Hat and Red Robes that would fit him, some protective light armor for him in case he hurt himself during training. There was now a scar under his right eye from his encounter with that thief months ago. The first spell he would be taught was the Fire spell, a Black Magic spell that Black Mages can learn, it was pretty basic. When it came to trying to cast the spell for the first time, the spell actually fizzled on him and he got disappointed. But his mother assured him that it would take a good amount of time and practice to get right. Nick would nod in understanding and kept practicing whenever he could have the opportunity, under the watchful eye of his mother.
Within two months, Nick Zixian was able to cast the Fire spell when he was outside training with his mother. While the accuracy wasn't perfect, it was progress that his mother was proud of and said "Good work my son! You're getting better!" Nick was very happy with himself with being able to cast the spell after practicing it for two months.
With that spell performed successfully, Nick's mother had him practice on learning a new spell called Protect, a White Magic spell that increased the defense of the target. Zaellia had her son practice it on her, so he wouldn't be trying to cast it on anyone else. Nick would say to her "Yes mother! I shall do my best!" and began to get started on practicing. His mother would show him how to cast it, and then asked her son to try and mimic what she did. The first couple of tries didn't go too well, and his mother expected this.
The days went on, where his mother would constantly watch him practice the Protect spell by casting it on her. There was days where the practicing wasn't quite going so great, but with time... he eventually got better at attempting to cast it. Even getting close to getting it right!
After two more months of practicing, Nick was able to finally perform the Protect spell on his mother, and she was very pleased that his days of practicing were finally able to bear fruit. Her son wanted to learn more spells, but she wanted him to wait until he was fifteen. He'd nod and say "Yes, mother," f
From there, he would practice those who spells every day whenever he could, awaiting the day when he could learn more spells. His spell casting improved as he got older, which allowed him to cast the spells more successfully without them fizzling out on him, or backfiring.
At the age of fifteen, Nick was outside with his mother who was about to finally teach him some more spells. But something awful happened! It was the most horrible thing he had witnessed in his life!
"Alright son, since you are now fifteen... the time has come to learn more spe- ack!" shouted as her mother was suddenly stabbed in the back by the same thief that tried to rob him when he was six years, and fell down to the ground bleeding. She was dead from being stabbed in the heart.
"Mother! Nooo!" shouted Nick in a horrified tone as he looked at the thief. His face of horror would shortly turn to anger! "You monster! You've killed my mother in cold blood! Have you got no conscious!?"
"Conscious? I don't care about that, I care about fortune and reputation, and you embarrassed me that day! I was laughed at by other prisoners when I was in prison, but now I broke out and got my revenge!" Shouted the thief as he laughed like a maniac, only to get distracted and get shoved to the ground by Nick himself. He then attempted to cast a Fire spell towards the thief, but it missed it by mere inches. He was very mad, and wanted to unleash his rage upon him. But, he couldn't bring himself to do that, he felt like that it would be unlike him to destroy someone.
This attempted spell casting frightened the thief, and once again, he was taken to prison once again by the guards of this city. The local citizens gathered around as the young gentlemen would look at his dead mother with tears in his eyes. After these fifteen years of his life, his mother was dead. He would never get the chance to learn anymore spells with her, or do anything else. All he could do now is grieve.
Two weeks after his mother was brutally murdered, she was buried next to her home, so that her son could always visit her grave whenever he wanted. The death of his mother affected the boy greatly. He barely practiced his two spells anymore, and would sometimes at night, stare up into the night sky, looking at the stars. Believing his mother would be watching him. The only object that he could remember his mother by was the staff that was given to him on his sixth birthday.
At the age of seven-teen, Nick decided to take an airship ride to another part of the world to hopefully make himself feel better. When asked by the captain of the airship where he wanted to go, he said he didn't care and the captain shrugged as the young teen paid the captain fifty gil for the trip. He was given that money from a local citizen as a gift, who felt bad for the death of his mother. As Nick stepped on board the airship, he would look towards the city that he had lived in his entire life. He wasn't sure when he was going to come back, if he ever was going to. Before the Airship would leave, Nick would say to himself "Mother... when I look at this staff. I'll think of you! I'll do my best to become a good Red Mage, like you were! I'll use my spells for the good of people!"
After twenty minutes later, the Airship would leave the city and head off into the clouds above. Nick would watch as his beloved home became distant from him. For a long time, he would stand on the deck, watching the clouds pass him by.
One night while he was standing on the deck of the airship, looking into the stars, he saw one of them start falling towards the flying airship, directly towards him. He ran around the deck attempting to try and dodge it, but it followed him. Some crew members were confused about what he was running from, and then they saw it. The young teenager got tired of running after ten minutes, and began to brace for impact as it got closer to the airship.
Just as the comet closed in on Nick, he ended up falling unconscious as it exploded in front of him in a bright light. It didn't kill him, but instead transported him to another place, a world that he didn't know of or had any knowledge of. There was no damage to the Airship, but the crew mates were confused about the disappearing passenger. Not even the captain could figure it out. From there, a new journey would begin for Nick Zixian.

"Even if my own mother is no longer with me, her spirit still lives on. In my heart." said Nick as he looked at his Wooden Staff and then up to the night sky above him.
"Alright... here we go! Fire!" shouted Nick as he attempted to cast a Fire spell towards the enemy he was facing, but his attack missed by a few feet. He was rather worried and disappointed with himself that his own spell missed. While he did good with casting it, his accuracy was something to be improved upon.
