Welcome one and all to our beautiful new skin! This marks the visual era of Adventu 4.0, our 4th and by far best design we've had. 3.0 suited our needs for a very long time, but as things are evolving around the site (and all for the better thanks to all of you), it was time for a new, sleek change. Final Fantasy Adventu is a roleplaying forum inspired by the Final Fantasy series. Images on the site are edited by KUPO of FF:A with all source material belonging to their respective artists (i.e. Square Enix, Pixiv Fantasia, etc). 'I'm no one's slave.' It couldn't have been that damned, weakling host.
'I'm no one's slave.' But the echo of the woman's voice kept creeping up behind her, forcing the parasite to twist its head with a curdling gasp only to realize no one was nearby. Idiot! Fool! Eyes forward, keep marching, find somewhere to hide until you have energy enough to warp further! This strange rocky valley of old ruins and pillars seemed maybe to have once been some kind of altar, maybe a temple, occasional waist-high walls of stone still standing on either side of old pathways. Why couldn't it have been another forest or a town? A village, a farming field, something other than rock!

'I'm no one's slave.'
"SHUT UP!" the shout bounced off the canyon walls, echoing wave after wave. Hands clawed at the sides of her head in some desperate attempt to defeat the memory of what she'd heard after that stupid girl had shot her with that stupid white arrow. And then that man - that lucky, weak man that should've been her newest step to greater power! "Holy". It ate through her like acid or an ant under a magnifying glass. Black oozed out of the thin hole the arrow had pierced and carved through as if to serve a reminder of the Holy bane.
A slow groan gradually built up to a ripping yell of fury which again called the dead space's attention to nothing but her isolated insanity. She stumbled over a rock which lead to catching herself halfway over one of the stone walls. An arm slumped over it and she eventually slid down to sit and rest her back against it. There was no further she could go until she rested more; the annoying hole above the host's heart refusing to heal. Curs'ed white magic!
But no voice, no. Nothing answered her. A confirmed victor's smirk lifted a crooked, one-sided curve to her lips. That strange breaking feeling she'd had after the girl shot her and the man struck her blade out from her grip, that fear of her return, it was paranoia. Her eyes drifted shut and the back curvature of her skull rested at the top of the stone wall to keep her posture propped up straight with loose arms at her sides. There was no one here; not the man with the crystallized arsenal, not the girl with the white arrows, not the pathetic host that she'd trampled out months ago. It was fine to rest. It was only paranoia.

The mountain had called to The True King like a distant voice. His path was not as clear as it was before, having laid him out to the slab where he would give his life. This time, his path was his own, and before he could even begin to try and deal with Ardyn, he needed help.
Help in the form of a crimson warrior he had fought alongside in what he believed were dreams.
Rose petals haunted his dreams, accompanying visions of Luna, of Ardyn. Surrounded by fire, by the Omen of Death, he knew that he needed to help save his ally, and to do so would mean that he would have to possibly face her head on. He would give no quarter, but, at the same time, he was hoping that she would be able to fight her way back to the surface, and purge herself of whatever is wrong with her.
He had warped along the side of the mountain, finally landing on an outcropping, allowing his power to recover for the moment as he looked around from his vantage point, a whisper reaching his ears, or perhaps just reaching his soul
It was unintelligible. It took him a moment of clearing his mind and listening to realize that it wasn't a voice he was hearing, but more of a presence he was feeling. It came down to memory, as the last time he had felt this presence, it was when he crossed blades with Lighting.
The tip he had gotten has paid off.
Moments had passed as he continued to travel, ignoring the layer of dust and dirt that had accumulated on him in his travels to this mountain. Ten years prior, he would have absolutely despised how he looked, wanting to clean up and freshen up at every opportunity; You can't fight the Empire looking like a troll, right? However, this time, his focus was more on success than looking good doing it.
"SHUT UP!!!" The roar echoed from within the canyon, so powerful and furious that it caused Noctis to more or less botch his landing, warping to another safe crag before he would plummet downward. He stopped, breathing slowly and quietly, as he heard another roar ring out, the presence growing stronger with the sound, but then ebbing again. He began traveling faster across the ravine, until he knew he was practically on top of her. He threw his sword straight down, warping to the blade and landing several meters from the borrowed body of Lightning. He pulled the sword out of the ground and stood up, the sword vanishing, looking at her with contention.
"Got you." he muttered, crossing his arms as he gazed across at the form. He noted the injuries she had, and realized that she hadn't recovered from their last fight. He was both comforted by this, but also bothered. He wasn't completely sure that he could save Lightning from whatever was afflicting her, but, he needed to try.
"So, before I save my friend and get rid of you, mind telling me just what the hell you are?"
What had it been? Ten, fifteen minutes of anxious rest against this wall before the chaos could feel the presence of another? The host's head lifted from the stone it rested back onto, already having thought of the possibility of her choices. If there was a time to get up to her feet, it wouldn't be yet. It was best to wait out what she could, talk for however long she could, stall until she was able to be rid of them. It was when the presence came closer that she could feel the familiar light which caused the warrior's lips to grimace. This severely limited and changed its options. Sure, he wasn't unscathed either, but this body hadn't taken this kind of a beating since this parasite had overtaken it. It simply wouldn't heal from the holy magics used against it; not with the chaos parasite inhabiting it. Irritating. Annoying. Just like him.
The glistening silver blade cut through the air and struck into the earth with him following it in his crystallized fashion just as he had before. The tainted eyes looked up to him without much else but apathy and inevitability. This body didn't have much left, but it would let this pile of flesh wither away into nothing at its breaking point before giving in so easily. Perhaps they would kill each other here and now in the mountain's crag. "Congratulations," a handful of calmed voices offered past the woman's lips and her eyes shut again to rest. He wasn't in the killing mood yet, so there was no need to waste precious seconds gathering strength. There were no steps towards itself - keeping his distance - but the parasite hadn't expected what he'd said to catch it so off-guard.
For a brief second her eyebrows pulled together, then she gave him the respect of eye-contact yet again with a flat expression. "Surely you're not that naive," a different pitch tried, but saw the honesty on his face. What began as a chuckle let loose into a steady laughter with a small myriad of tones within the parasite's voice. "A fool. An idiot. And to think you caused me this much trouble," the woman scoffed at herself, shaking its head and lowering it, and sighed, "-ahhhh, pathetic way to be ended; bested by the likes of a dullard." There was no sense in being dishonest about any information. Hells, it benefited her. What more it told, what more he asked, gave her time to try and build itself up as best as the body was able.
"I was created. I remember, I was placed within this body, and then awoken by another," yet another different voice - the parasite having difficulty honing which to use like some malfunctioning program. The woman's lips pursed in thought at its memory of origin. "This host was rather... non-compliant. But the sorcerer that woke me and I were not in the mood to bargain with a stubborn, worn mortal," a shoulder half-shrugged without much of a care as to where the story led. Survival, really. "After I was done, a shell was what she left. So I took it. Better than slowly bleeding out on the ground, I'd imagine."
Fang still did not quite understand what was going on. Something about a parasite? That it twisted Lightning into another person? There was a Noctis trying to put an end to it? Risky plans? The young pinkette seemed too upset to give her any coherent and stringed together details. Fang understood her being upset, but if she wanted Fang to help she needed to know what the hell was going on. Instead, after hearing the news, she somehow lost the pinkette and went into a frustrated streak to go find Light. Somehow, Fang felt in the back of her mind that Light was going to pummel her for losing the young lady.
And somehow, through fighting dragoons, knights, bandits, and this damned dusty terrain, she believed she made it to her destination at last. And Fang was seething. Whatever it was that took hold of Light was going to let her go. Fang did not care what she had to do to make it happen. If she had to tear down the sky and split the earth in two, then it would be so. Fang always took care of those she held dear to her heart. This was no different.
The wind ruffled through her hair and clothes as she pushed up the rocky terrain. The shout of Light’s voice, yet not her voice, bounced off the mountain pass. Its strange tone carried to Fang, and she was able to at least gauge the direction it came to track it. But as she arrived, she made no actions, as she looked down at them from her higher vantage point. She studied this dark-haired man who spoke to Light. Save his friend? Did he mean Light? Was this the Noctis her source told her of?
Listening further between the conversation exchange, Fang felt her nerves grate. How dare this thing talk about her friend as if she was nothing but an object. They had been through too much, including punching gods in the mouth, for her to sit here and listen to that nonsense. Fang took a deep breath and shoved the bottom of her lance into the ground. “Picked a bunch of rocks to get saved in, eh Light? I guess a field of flowers just isn’t your style.”
“And you!” She pointed her lance at Light, or rather the thing taking hold of Light. “I don’t know what you are, and frankly, I don’t really care. But, I have known Light for a very long time. If you think you can keep her caged, think again. That ‘stubborn, worn mortal’ bows to no one.” Light was still in there fighting. And Fang would do her best to poke and pry her out. With a fluid motion, she back flipped off the crag and landed near Noctis with a near panther-like grace.
To insult the creature inside Light, she showed no more interest in it as she instead sized up Noctis. “I don’t know who you are.” Hell, she didn’t even know if she trusted him. “But it looks like we have the same goal. Let’s do this.” However, instead of immediately taking the offense, she turned to the creature and summoned the magic in her to bring out her sentinel magic. Fang spread her feet and took a defensive position leaning forward and making a gesture with hand for the parasite to come on. “What are you waiting for, tough guy?” Perhaps she could create an opening for Noct or at least give herself time to figure out how to best deal with the situation without seriously hurting Light.

Resolve, this time she would see it through
"Host giving you trouble bug?"
She stepped along the rockey terrain to face her sister alongside the others, that was to say... She faced the creature using her skin as a vessel. She didn't have to ask to know what Lightining would want, she didn't need to exchange words. Light would not willingly bend the knee to any man or creature, let alone become it's prisioner. What Lightining would want...
Destroy it, now
She could invision the instruction in her head clearly, and she smiled confidently to the figure of her sister. Though the smile wasn't for the bug, it was for the girl within. She knew what she had to do, Light woudn't want to be a slave to this thing.. so she would free her, no matter what it took to do so.
I love you sis, just wait a bit longer
"Were coming sis, don't worry"
She made the decleration where it could enter their foes ear, if it could hear her so could Lightining-she was sure of that. She looked first to Fang and then to Noctis. Two friends... Two people who also wanted to save her sister.
"Thank you... Both of you"
For what? For standing by her side, for caring about Light enough to save her now. She knew that together they would stop this thing and free her. She didn't want to get to deep in conversation now, it wasn't the time for that... Now was the time for action. She was determined to see this through... To set her shackles loose.
"Let's go Mog!"
As if sharing Serah's determination to free it's former master the little moogle poofed straght into Starseeker's bow form, while Serah herself entered a Ravager stance a bit behind the other two. She would rain arrows from afar, keep the parasite pinned down. She pulled the string of her bow back, already trained on her sister's body. Memories flashed before her eyes, years gone by. On Cocoon, through time. But they didn't make her hand twitch or hesitate. No... Her grip only became firmer.
Lightining the Guardian.
This time that was her. The roles had been switched. Her goal was clear... Her aim would be true. With her friends she would make this right. This time that was her.

Noctis heard the other two come in to the scene, but things had already begun to slow down for him. Once again, he felt… tired. Aged. The fleeting moment between the first woman showed up and barked her snarky comment at him, and Serah appearing to offer her aid, Noctis heard a voice. He only blinked, but the blink lasted a lifetime, as he heard a collection of voices through the Arms, through the Power of Kings, reaching from far beyond.
At first, it was a mumble, barely audible.
What?
Then, the voice came in clearer, more powerful. Then, suddenly, it hit him like a truck.
Show this cur what the King of Kings can do!
His eyes snapped open as his father's voice rang through his head, the normal blue veiled in the magenta glow of his full power, temporarily surging from him. The full Thirteen burst from behind him, jutting out like wings, and his own sword was gripped in his hand. His eyes narrowed as he looked behind him at the other two.
"Let's end this and get our friend back." He said, before hurling every weapon forward, warping between them all, not giving Lightning even the slightest chance to counter attack, before appearing beside her. He would shove the Sword of the Tall behind her, and hurl her towards the other two, before flying up with the Mace of the Fierce to slam her to the ground, flipping and skidding to a halt between the other two, hoping that maybe it would put her down.
After his initial onslaught, Noctis realized that this burst of power didn't have the lastibility of when Luna bestowed him with it against Leviathan; Not being on Eos made it drain so much faster than before. He kept a mental note of this, for later, as he watched what the other two did, reminded wildly of Iris and Gladio, based on how they held themselves in combat. He would stand back up, putting himself into a stance, waiting for his next opportunity to strike.

The hole beneath her left shoulder wouldn't heal. Not without feeding from someone or something; the damn holy arrow having left a scalding wound. But the time he'd been wasting asking the parasite questions and letting it answer was allowing the rest of the more minor wounds to stitch themselves back together with minimal energy that she did her best to scrape together. A piercing sound of metal into the rocky ground had her looking upwards at the spearwielder standing above them. Another that knew the host? Inconvenient to say the least... Her red-rimmed eyes thinned at the sight of the man's companion that hopped down without effort - lithe but sturdy - and could only give a tired chuckle at her heroic statement. "If you think you can keep her caged, think again. That ‘stubborn, worn mortal’ bows to no one.""How theatrical. And so, dreadfully wrong. The dead remain dead."

It was dark. Not cold, not warm, just... Blank. Empty. No, not empty, there was a draft where the air sucked inwards beyond her. The warrior turned and looked over her shoulder to face the sound of the current, squinting to see the distant, hazy light. She took a step towards it, but the floor prevented her boots from lifting again - sticking her in place, holding and weighing her down. After a few attempts to tug her legs free, she focused again on the far away glow, intent on trying to sharpen her consciousness and figure out what the hell it was.

In seemingly normal tempo and energy, the parasite stood from the ground, all but healed save for the still-somewhat-smoking hollow point through her leather from the arrow shot by-. Really?... A long and angered sigh left her nose at the sight of the pink-haired archer. There was no kidding herself; this battle would leave the host uninhabitable. It would kill it. There was no ending where it wasn't inevitable. All that was left was how many she could tear down with her... or whether or not she could weaken one enough to swap. "Come then. Let's be done with it," her teeth gnashed furiously with a muted bark and she readied herself as best she could in her stance without the crimson sword to morph into what she chose. Thankfully, this woman had quite the gift with magic. The parasite hadn't quite gotten the hang of it yet - wild and uncontrollably destructive - but perhaps that was well-suited for the situation.
The man of Light exuded much more of a force than she recounted with a flash of his power behind him. He wasted no time in charging after it caught her by surprise for the briefest of moments.The blade thrust down into the ground behind her and she knew he would follow but apparently had prepared for an attack that never came. Instead, the earth beneath her trembled and flung upwards with the blade's enormous length and width with enough force to force her into the air. She flew into the middle of the previously-set field and caught her balance mid-air, attempting to catch sight of him and Protecting a shell enough in front of her to take the main force of the mace. The barrier shattered immediately, still sending her clear across the way towards the two women where she skid against the ground on a single knee before flinging a wild, frantic, wrathful arm towards the archer and unleashing a series of violent bolts of lightning. She'd be damned if she got struck with another one of those arrows!
Fang turned her head to look up in surprise at Serah. The last she saw Serah, the young lady had nearly fallen to pieces just trying to explain to Fang what had happened to Light. In fact, she did not even complete the explanation. But look at the younger pinkette now. That was resolve in her to save Light. That’s the spirit. Don’t let the resolve go, Serah.
“I was worried you wouldn’t make it.” Fang called out to Serah with a lopsided smile. Fang would not only need to save Light but protect her sister during this fight. Gods. If anything happened to Serah, Fang couldn’t imagine the guilt that Light might feel, or the lashing Fang might get. Her jaw still ached from the last mishap. However, Fang’s attention snapped to the dark-haired man who already began his onslaught. Unfortunately, it looked like he could not keep this up for long. Easy there. This could be a long fight.
Fang did not have the speed to attack first. Instead, she noticed the keen focus of the faux-Lightning on Serah. It was much like an angry rabid beast baring its teeth at the primary aggressor. Fang felt the magic in her activate Fringeward that allowed her response time to block the incoming magic assault from her ally. Every muscle in her tensed as she bolted for Serah to protect her. Her spear whirled as she tried to attract the bolts to her to reduce the damage to Serah. And though her magical barrier took the brunt of the lightning, Fang could feel the tingling surge jolt and leave her fingers feeling numb.
She grunted but ignored the numbing pain from the assault. But the moment she knew the offensive magic, she kicked off the ground. “Honestly, Light. Hurting, your sister? That’s a new low. You love her, don’t you remember? I’ll just have to beat it back into you!” Fang shouted to try to provoke Light to reappear. Her leap had taken her high into the air, then she back flipped down to smack Lightning down with the length of her spear.

Serah stood tall, she woudn't let the monster's words get to her. Lightining was in there. Fang and Noctis were by her side. Noctis gave a powerful blow, but it tired him. She would have to helo cover him. She kept her bow strung as the faker charged her. She didn't move, didn't flinch. Why? It was simple really, they were all a team. Working together. Why she didn't move... It was because Fang protected her, Fang took the blow that gave her the opening she needed. Thanks to her much of the electric attack was weakned, thanks to her Lightining was knocked back away from them. She gave a nod to Fang, thankful for her assitence.
"Of course I came! So many times... Lightining has been the one to help me... This time, I'll return the favor"
She would try to catch the false Lightining with a volley of arrows while she was still falling back, before charging a spell to her left hand. She glared at her, determanation flared in her eyes. She would fufill her sister's wish. She would bring her home. Once, just once things were going to go right. She would make sure of it!
"I'm going to show you why it's not smart to mess with the Farron sisters, with us or any of our friends!"
Her hand flung foward as the spell Firaga shot from her fingertips, a large ball of flame that went straght for her possesed sister. Flames to represent her determination. She knew it's main weakness of course, it wasn't fire. But that wasn't a skill she could just fire off like normal magic. She needed the right time, the right moment to make the most of it. Her hands gripped her bow as she returned to positon, keepong a close eye on her sister's movements.
Snow was her hero, Lightining was everyone's hero. But who wss hers? Well... She'd never admit it, not in a million years but... This time it was going to be them. They would bring her home. Another arrow shot where Lightining moved. Fluid, on repeat. Her goal was to keep her down so ahe could't go to wild. So that they could focus their attacks one after the other. If she got a clear enough shot... Then she would use her own. A pattern formed, almost rythmic in it's movements. Arrows followed the possesed hero back to back. Well unless she back back for the source of course.
They had been through so much. Together... Apart. She was freed from her fate, from her prison once thanks to Lightining, thanks to Snow and everyone else. That's why...
"Sis this time... I'll free you! So come at me bug, your no better than one of my ill behaved students! you won't win because..."
A deep breath, arrows rang out one more.
"You don't know a sister's love, the love of a family and friends... and you never will!"

Oh, boy, the toll of the Armiger was much worse than he imagined. He had seen that her response to his attack was to direct her focus to Serah (presumably since the Arrows of Light she used was super effective, before), but, between Serah and the other woman, there wasn't much of anything this weakened form before them could do. This sentient being, taking over such a powerful warrior, and subjecting her and her own family to this…
It reminded him of someone. Not Ardyn. Not even the Niffs.
His mind had turned, somewhat darkly, towards Bahamut.
But, behind grit teeth, and the flash of weaponfire and magic before him, he needed to suppress those feelings, especially since the bolts of energy being fired from the being before them were flying wildly about. This was the attack of a dying animal, with the tenacity of a seasoned warrior, but the patience of a Coeurl. The passion of the fighters before him, the actual family and friend of Lightning, was inspiring. Was this what it looked like from the outside? He grinned slightly before sliding a foot back, and resuming his charge, warping, ducking, and weaving between the arrows.
That would be when everything would stop for him. He had spent too much energy on the Armiger, and was now sailing towards Lightning with no weapons. He would cry out in anger as he'd pivot and throw a punch, tumbling past her at top speed before coming to a stop several meters behind her. He had just enough strength to bring himself to one knee, the power leaving him. He was confused, but he knew what had happened. Memories that were clear as day had been ripped violently from him. He fought to remember, to think… They pushed the car down the road towards Hammerhead. Him, Prompto, Gladio…
He looked up, unable to keep the panic out of his eyes, as he realized that he was a lot closer to Lightning than he thought, and that he was wide open to attack.
"... Shit." he would mutter, holding his hand up to try to summon a weapon, the crystals phasing in and out, but nothing materializing.
