She supposed it would be a little bit of a shock to see her here, not because of any sort of incident that happened to her in the past, oh no, but simply the fact that it was somewhat of a strange coincidence that they'd wind up together again, here in a completely different world. It really only gave her more hope that more of her friends were here! How funny it'd be if all of Midgar really did come here.[break][break]
As he stood in a daze, Aerith looked him over with a little smile on her face, her emerald eyes soaking in the details of her friend, now older than the last time she had seen him. Older, and ... his eyes. Her smile lessened, just a smidge, for those eyes were something she was familiar with. And sometimes familiar was not good.[break][break]
Aerith smiled empathetically, and stood back to her normal stance after she found she was leaning a little bit closer to him after he finally snapped out of it. The joke he returned made her smile cheekily, and she shrugged. "Mm, maybe~"[break][break]
Her smile softened again as he seemed to struggle to find words to say. Well, Aerith always had the opposite problem. She continued on, as if ignoring any sort of awkward silence all together. "So, how long have you been here?" She'd bombard him with questions if she could, but maybe for once she'd take it somewhat slow because he did seem quite nervous.

[attr="class","aerpost"]We won!
...
But...
Her heart pounded in her chest, with every word he spoke her stomach filled with knots. They won, but? But other things happened. It was a surprise, but yet it wasn't. Her vague, fleeting memories in the Lifestream proved more confusing than anything else. She wanted her sacrifice to mean that her friends could live on... And in a way, it did. They did. They won, but... The world was never meant to know complete peace, was it?
Aerith nodded in an almost sagely understanding. The Lifestream was weird like that. Her memories were weird like that. So many came and went through her mind, the littlest mention of this or that, brought so many emotions surging to the surface. And seeing Cloud again, all of it came bubbling up. She brought a hand up to her chest, trying to calm the heart that thumped in her chest.
"I knew you would," she smiled, her emerald gaze upon him. "I knew you would keep going. But you can't blame yourself for ... what happened. Okay?" The last bits of breath came out shaky, nearly catching, as she fought back more tears.
As her heels hit the earth, she heard a voice approach her. Aerith turned briefly to look at her company, her smile still beaming from the joy the young coeurls brought her, and she giggled. "Mm, not really, no. But can't you tell if something is happy or sad?"[break][break]
Aerith turned back to look at the kits, rolling and tousling with each other. "I'd like to think they like it in there, even though it is a cage," she lamented, taking a step back with her arms behind her. "At least in there, they're safe. They get fed, and they have each other." Turning back to Caius, her smile softened. "So I guess I can't understand them, but I think they look happy enough."[break][break]
The brunette grinned again, and stuck her hand out to the blonde. "I'm Aerith, by the way. Wanna join me? There are still plenty of animals I haven't seen yet."

fate and destiny are no guarantee
still i hope someday you'll come and find me
There was little time to go into deep introductions, so Aerith nodded after Yugiri's introduction, mouthing the title she had given. Who was Lord Hien? What was Doma? These were questions that bubbled in her mind, but could ask later! Right now, she was focused on examining the strange marks that Yugiri had left on the trees, and following them out of the forest. It was a task that proved more troublesome than it sounded. Aerith wasn't particularly strong, so having the woman lean on her made her movements slower than she liked. But slow and steady wins the race? She hoped? She knew the wolves were still out there, so she did her best to make haste.
The trees eventually began to grow more sparse, and a light shone ahead like the opening of a tunnel. Aerith cheered, squeezing Yugiri's arm that had been thrown around her shoulder. "We're almost out! Maybe we can call... Arashi, was it? Who is Arashi?"
Though their path before them was clear to see, the roots and brambles got in their way, which made Aerith huff and stumble at times. She hoped and prayed they'd make it out before the wolves came back!

Is this just a dream?
if only i knew what my heart was telling me.
She exhaled the breath she had not realized she was holding in, and took a careful seat on the edge of the bed. His recollection and thoughts of dreams versus reality... It resonated within her. She had the same feeling when she first arrived, wondering if this was the Lifestream, some sort of amalgamation of different people and places that had passed on... But she felt in her heart it wasn't, and that she was somewhere entirely foreign to her. Yet she was lost without anyone to miss her. Ignis had his friends... She could feel it! Aerith smiled, a determined glint coursing through her emerald eyes. "Your friends are here, Ignis. I'm sure of it! Maybe we could... Look for them together."
His question made her go quiet, but not for long. She had gusto, and the drive to take action! But she'd be a lying fool if she said she wasn't feeling a bit lonely. "Mm, I dunno..." she sighed softly, turning her gaze toward the window. "If they're out there, I haven't found them yet. So maybe, we can look together. You'll find your friends, and I'll find... someone."
This time, Aerith reached for his hand without hesitation. She gave it a gentle, yet affirming squeeze. "I can be your eyes. If that's okay!"
When in doubt, do what you're good at![break][break]
Or at least, that was her train of thought.[break][break]
Ever since coming to Provo, she had found it easy to adjust, if "easy" meant finding herself back in her familiar patterns, peddling flowers, but not making much off of them. Aerith was grateful she had made friends with the innkeeper, because what money she was bringing in wasn't nearly enough to cover a room! But selling flowers on the cobblestone street was what she wanted to do, and she wouldn't give up. Getting a second chance... She'd have to take it. For the ones that didn't have a second chance. For the one who pushed her to do this in the first place.[break][break]
Among her traditional white lilies were mixed local flora that she picked from the fields in the outskirts of town. Her next mission would be to find a suitable place to start a garden, but for now this would do. Aerith smiled as she would hold different blooms out for passersby. "Here, would you like this white lily? No? What about a sunset daisy? I've never seen one like this before!" Many would scoff, or ignore her. She even had a conversation where someone challenged her reasoning for selling a flower they could get for free. Maybe they just didn't get it. Aerith dropped the flower into her basket with a slight huff. "It's not about the money..."[break][break]
When it seemed like this spot was not working out, Aerith spun on her heel to wander away to another section of the town, when she heard a faint whisper of ... her name? Turning again, her brunette plait flopping from shoulder to shoulder, she searched for the source. Who would recognize her out here? Only a handful of people cared to know her by name, and it didn't sound like any of them...[break][break]
"Ah... Oren?" she blinked, a smile forming. "Oren... Is that you?" Both of them had grown up in Sector 5, but she admittedly had not seen him in... well, a very long time. She bounced over to him, smiling brighter, hoping to ease the confusion on his face. "Fancy seeing you here. Did all of Midgar get whisked away?" Aerith held out the sunset-orange bloom that she had previously tried peddling, and giggled. "I think this was meant for you."

[attr="class","aerpost"]The tears that brimmed along her emerald gaze could no longer be held back, but she cried with a smile. A wide, joyous, relieved smile. With no hesitation, Aerith fully clasped her hands around his, returning the soft gesture. "You're really here..." she beamed, her eyes closed and more tears fell on her cheeks.
Not wanting to let go, Aerith loosened one of her hands to swipe her cheeks. The other hand still held the flower, and gently squeezed his hand. Somehow, she had hoped that none of her beloved friends had endured that end. Her end. She had somehow hoped and prayed that maybe, maybe, she had been... whisked away before all of that happened. But the phantom pains she felt along her spine were enough of a clue to tell her... It did happen. She did die, and Cloud had to witness it. Yet here she was, alive and well...
"I... I don't know," she finally spoke, quietly, her smile fading a bit. "But I'm here now. We're here, together. A second chance."
She laughed gently, swiping the rest of her tears away. She'd hold onto him forever, if she could. But knowing how he was about physical touch, Aerith finally pulled her hand away once she knew he would hold the flower. Aerith knew it must be an overwhelming feeling... both being in a new place, and seeing a friend he previously thought... was gone. Another gentle smile graced her lips. "If you don't mind telling me... What happened... After? Y'know, did we... Win?"

Is this just a dream?
if only i knew what my heart was telling me.
For Vincent to immediately grow stoic and serious was to be expected, to which she responded with a smile that made her eyebrows shift in an empathetic way. Compared to the rest of the group, she had spent the least time with Vincent, and in many ways he was still very much a mystery to her; but she couldn't deny that she did feel some sort of energy about him, some time ago.
But now that they were somewhere else, with no Lifestream to feel and sense, it seemed her memories of that time were a bit fuzzy. "I... don't know," she began, looking away because she knew it wasn't an answer he was looking for. "It feels like... a dream. A bad dream. I felt it in my heart, something terrible, but now it feels so distant." The phantom pain of Sephiroth's sword through her. The visions of the world being destroyed. Had it happened, but everyone who could stop it suddenly... disappeared?
Aerith took a breath in and clasped her hands behind her. "I think we should focus on finding everyone," she smiled up to him. "What happened before... Well, we have a chance to start again. Do we need to think about all that doom and gloom anymore?" To be honest, she really didn't. As long as she knew her friends could be somewhere around, she'd savor having the opportunities for more memories with them.

[attr="class","aerpost"]In Midgar, in her special Church, it took quite a bit of effort to grow flowers. While there was sunlight, the soil was tainted from the mako. But despite the desolate ground, Aerith was always able to spring forth life from the dirt, from what was normally thought as dry and dead. It was what kept her mind at ease, made her feel like her heritage could be a good thing and not something to make fun of her for.
In Provo, her heritage might have lost all potency, but she still had a green thumb and found it rather easy to start a small garden in the yard near the inn she was staying at. In return for room and board, she made sure to make the place look presentable (as well as make the occasional delivery across town). Anything to help out, and feel a sense of normalcy again.
In typical Aerith fashion, she set forth for the day with a basket of flowers in the crook of her elbow. Unlike Midgar, where flowers were seen as both a miracle but also no one really cared about them, in Provo, they were commonplace but her smile was effective. All she had to do was shove a bloom in their face with a peppy smile, and people would take it. For once, she wasn't ignored too often!
She turned on her heel, in a swivel, her brown plait and bouncy bangs flowing gently across her face, when she spotted in the crowd the unmistakable spikey-blonde hair she thought she'd never see again. Arm held in midair as it gently grasped a flower, and her mouth hung open slightly in a smile. Disbelief, happiness, sadness, so many emotions bubbled up within her as she saw that blonde boy-- Cloud Strife, here in Provo.
She began one step at a time, slow and sure steps, eyes always on him to make sure he didn't disappear. After every blink, her smile grew. He was there. He was still there!
When she finally reached him, she could feel the corners of her eyes starting to sting. Green eyes scanned and examined him, her heart bubbled up when she realized he really was in front of her. But she needed another test. Just to make absolutely, positively sure! Aerith reached her free hand out, and grasped at his. It had weight to it, it didn't disappear at her touch. He really was here. A tear slipped out as she looked back up to him, beaming. As she lifted his hand, she placed the flower into it, using her fingers to curl his around the stem.

As she waited for his answer, if he even did want to answer, she turned back to the bustle outside and watched. Were her friends somewhere, out there? If she could be here, they could be as well? Or was this some sort of after life, and what she knew about the lifestream was all a lie? So many thoughts and questions whirled through her mind, and when Ignis finally began to speak again, she was grateful for the interruption of such thoughts.
"Avoid Sonora, check," she smiled, laughing a little in an attempt to lighten the air. But it still felt... heavy, and now maybe a little awkward, so she chuckled softly again and continued to listen, watching with concern as he appeared to be pained. "Don't force yourself, if it hurts." Aerith took a step forward, wanting to be a comforting touch, but she stopped herself short. It wouldn't be nice to make him jump again.
Instead, she balled her hand into a fist and held it in front of her, her brows knitting in thought and concern. "Your friends... Did you come to Provo with them? Could they be looking for you again?"
