Is this just a dream?
if only i knew what my heart was telling me.
The unfortunate feeling of being watched wasn't unfamiliar to Aerith. It was a result of her half-Cetran heritage, and her importance to the Shinra company, when they decided she'd be of use to them again. While she did experience moments of peace, living a quiet life with her adoptive mother Elmyra, the veil would quickly be shattered when she'd spot a black-suited individual lurking about Sector 5. Sometimes they were obvious, other times Aerith could easily forget there was one tailing her without stepping into broad daylight.
But here on Zephon, in Provo, filled with busy and bustling streets, having the sense of being followed made the hair on the back of her neck stand up.
Tseng had assured her that the goal of the TURKS did not transfer over to Zephon. She was free to live her life, truly free, so why did it still feel like she was being followed?
Aerith kept her warm smile upon her lips as she walked through the market, making it seem as if she was fine and none the wiser. But behind those emerald eyes, she was a bit worried. But her worry never showed, and this brunette had a plan!
Her pace quickened as she weaved through the crowds, never once turning to look behind her. Only forward, she must continue forward! Her pink ribbon and braided plait bobbed as she paced by the stalls. What a shame, some of the wares looked so cute! If she made it out alive, she'd have to go back and take a peek!
Aerith finally made a pivoting turn as the crowd seemed to be at its highest. She disappeared down a small side street, and quickly ducked into the frame of a doorway. When she finally heard a set of footsteps approaching, their pace unlike the rest of the people who passed, she popped out of her hiding spot and pointed in the general direction.
"Hey!" she furrowed her brow slightly, "What's wrong with you, following a lady around?"
Vincent seen the world in shades. He had commited terribe deeds for Shinra. And though he was an Ex-Turk, he had training most men could only fathom. Coupled with what the Professor did to him, he was easily on par with any 1st-class SOLDIERs. He had simple had his fill of killing, but it was thrust upon him once again. Awakening to a new world where he would no doubt have to fight .
He couldn’t make the claim he was a Cetra. However, thanks to that chaotic bioplasm, he seen the world very akin to how Aerith was. The very essence of that bioplasm stemmed from a failsafe they beth came from. A final solution. Chaos was to rid the world of life only when Omega WEAPON emerged; to settle on a new planet and allow life to bloom into existence again.
On the same note, that also gave him away to Cetra. The clarity of mind knowing it was slumber meant he only had to deal with his other four forms.
The whole reason he seemed so apathetic was because if he gave into any emotion, other than his Wraith form, they had footing. A means to latch on and take control even if only for a few moments.
He should have known better than to presume, but as the last of the Cetra, he harbored very little information as he took to the roofs. Perching like a gargoyle on the edge of the roof as she passed. His head on a swivel to ensure they were safe.
In her paranoia, and knowing what Cetra was capable of, he should have known better watching her from a scope.
He had yet to make a move. Playing the sight of he death over and over in his head until he shook his head free of those thoughts. Black hair dancing in the wind opposite the direction of that unnatural cloak. He raisted his gauntet clad hand. Letting the thoughts passed. He still knew the direction she was going. Even if she was out of sight.
Jumping from his perch and landed effortlessly upon the ground. Like heights had ever stopped him. He followed down those streets he seen her start towards.
He stepped up when Aerith was felled. Ensuring her that he would help Cloud his own way. And he had. When Aerith was lost to them, the party knew the familiar pain that came with the impotence to alter Aerith’s fate.
A vow he lived up to during the Geostigma ordeal. That same duty extended to his entire team. Both TURK and AVALANCHE, even if he didn’t join the latter.
Upon the ground, it took only a few moments to glance around, spotting that pink hairbow. He slipped through the crowd of people. Brushing shoulders with random strangers. The occasional flutter of his cloak could be seen with acute sight. Not that it did much for her. She could no doubt see the bioplasm coursing through his veins. There was no hiding for her.
And jut like the predator he was, he had no intention of allowing her to escape.
Down that road she turned and hid, he walked. Those slow steps causing the metal on his sabatons to lightly ring softly everytime they struck each other.
The moment she sprung forward and pointed at him, no emotion was shown save for the small cant of his head. Almost ignoring her question as he spoke, “... Aerith? I’m sorry.” Of course, it wasn’t Sephiroth who shoulded that guilt. He wasn’t able to save her. He often wondered what it would have been like to pull the trigger with Sephiroth - what outcome came if he was able to pull the trigger on the daughter of his former love.
Save for that cloak billowing on ethereal winds,he was motionless. His silhouette making that doorframe look so small. “I didn’t intend to scare you. What is this place?” He was referring to the world, but he had so many more questions for her.

The nuances of this world were still something Aerith was learning. She could not sense this world's Lifestream, if it even had one. And she could not hear the planet, its flowers and creatures, speak to her. It also meant that whatever inkling of a feeling she had of Chaos was gone. And so, she did not realize it was Vincent who was following her until the cloaked figure came into her view.
"Vincent!" she exclaimed, her finger still pointing at him. Only now she was peppy, bouncing slightly on the balls of her feet. It was a familiar face! Well, another familiar face, as she had met Tseng, but Vincent was higher up on the tiers of those she'd want to see. Despite his broody, quiet nature. Aerith smiled briefly before letting her arms fall gently to her sides. It seemed he was just as clueless as she was.
"Now that I know it's you, I'm okay," she started, his apology accepted. "We're in a town called Provo, on a planet called Zephon, I think. It's... not home, I know that for sure." She took a step away from the door frame and closer to him, smiling gently up at him. "Other than that, I dunno much else."
As soon as she recognized who he was, and that finger came out, he did what everybody in their Party did: He took a single step back in preparation to be chastised. Even if he seemed to get it the least.
“.. It’s good to see you, Aerith.”
While his face remained everybit apathetic as always, there was no hiding the movements of his cloak. How excited it had become. Fluttering on unseen winds to get closer to her before coming to an absolute stop. A stillness that returned and simply dangled down his sides. Those who knew him knew to tell his feelings through the movements of that fabric. It was far more expressive than anything he could say. Proved that he was happy to see her. Moments after she told him what she thought the world was, he had his own take.
"This place feels like a prison. And I intend to find every last one of us and bring them here. Or you could come with me? Though I have a single question: You were the heart of the team. I tried to step in; to show him a different path than my own. What all did the Primal Materia show you?"
He was referring to Cloud, of course, and what she knew of her own demise
That stoic gaze remained fixated on her. He had often wondered if all Cetra had that regal nature. The cloak remaining silent. There was a fear in the back of his mind that she knew he was Chaos. And if she did, why had she allowed him to go with them? There were so many questions he had for her.

For Vincent to immediately grow stoic and serious was to be expected, to which she responded with a smile that made her eyebrows shift in an empathetic way. Compared to the rest of the group, she had spent the least time with Vincent, and in many ways he was still very much a mystery to her; but she couldn't deny that she did feel some sort of energy about him, some time ago.
But now that they were somewhere else, with no Lifestream to feel and sense, it seemed her memories of that time were a bit fuzzy. "I... don't know," she began, looking away because she knew it wasn't an answer he was looking for. "It feels like... a dream. A bad dream. I felt it in my heart, something terrible, but now it feels so distant." The phantom pain of Sephiroth's sword through her. The visions of the world being destroyed. Had it happened, but everyone who could stop it suddenly... disappeared?
Aerith took a breath in and clasped her hands behind her. "I think we should focus on finding everyone," she smiled up to him. "What happened before... Well, we have a chance to start again. Do we need to think about all that doom and gloom anymore?" To be honest, she really didn't. As long as she knew her friends could be somewhere around, she'd savor having the opportunities for more memories with them.
