[attr="class","ayab-text"] It had been some time since the incident with Alexander and her flowers were doing much better! Well, the ones that had not been broken entirely at the stem. A few support rods delicately tied next to them had helped to correct the issue and she had cleared away the ones beyond her aid. Aerith had done so with a practiced ease even without the lifestream beneath her fingertips to aid her. The sensation was still one she had yet to grow accustomed to. Would she ever grow used to being, well, normal? It was not quite the right word to fit, but it was the only one she could think. Her entire life had been spent beneath a magnifying glass as she was told by Shinra how special she was and that she was the only one of her kind left. That had left her feeling more insecure and anxious than anything else. [break][break]
She had spent the better of the morning tend to the flowers which meant a break was called for! Or she may just call it for the day and see if there were any jobs she could take. Aerith was always ready to earn some extra gil to help out her friends. And it was always wise to squirrel some away for a rainy day when it was needed. No one ever knew when it could be needed! The young woman found herself sitting in the same cafe she had taken Seymour to once she had brought him here. It had started raining a short awhile ago and now she was nursing a mug of hot chocolate to see if the rain would abate at all. [break][break]
It did not seem likely to do so, though. A soft sigh escaped her lips as she rested her chin on the palm of her hand and stared idly out of the window. The sights of the people walking to and fro in a hurry to escape the rainfall was calming in a way. Nearly everyone was always in a hurry to get to their destination without actually enjoying themselves. A constant race from one point to the next! She had done her best not to be like that for as long as she could remember. There was more joy in living for the moment than racing towards an unknown future with such a singleminded focus. Well, at least it was that way for her. [break][break]
Perhaps it was just one of those days she felt the need to be introspective. Who knew why?
[attr="class","ayab-text"] A great baritone? Aerith barely held back the snort at that comment. He really did have a rather inflated sense of himself from what she could tell so far. Confidence was all well and good to have, but he seemed to border on sheer arrogance. It had her wondering how he had made it this far without being arrested somehow. Or perhaps he just ran into people like her who helped more than they really should. One day it really was going to cost her! Then again, it seemed it had at some point, since she had been killed in Cloud's memory. Aerith found that somewhat unpleasant to think about and rather confusing as well. How many timelines existed exactly? Was it an infinite thing? An endless river with endless currents to choose from? "I'll take your word for it." [break][break]
Somehow, she felt somewhat sorry for the swordsman now. But she really should warn Alexander before he thought himself easily able to contend with the man. "Don't go looking to pick a fight with him. I don't know what you're capable of, but Sephiroth isn't someone to underestimate. He was the greatest SOLDIER in my world for a reason," she warned with narrowed eyes. The young woman had no wish to cross paths with Sephiroth if it could be helped. There was also the question if it was the same version of him she had known. Cloud had told her the story of his memories until the end of his journey, and she had been brought forth before some of those events had taken place for her. It was entirely possible this Sephiroth was the one from before the Nibelheim fire and he had lost his sanity. Food for thought! [break][break]
"The other could be anyone, I guess. You said your friend looked like him and you were running around with a giant sword just a moment before. All I can say is that Sephiroth made a lot of enemies, so it could be anyone from my world," Aerith explained easily enough. The digs at Cloud were certainly wrong, but she was not about to send this man after Cloud. Not until she got the entire story from her friend first, anyway! But her main reason for guiding him along soon came into view, so she dragged him forward to lead him towards the station with a bright smile. [break][break]
"And here we are~! One station without any guards catching you!" Aerith let his arm slip from hers as she clasped her hands behind her back and smiled. "Feel free to thank me again! Now, I should be heading back to fix what I can. Maybe I'll see you again sometime! Hopefully, without you falling in on me again."
[attr="class","ayab-text"] There was something satisfying about seeing him lose his temper just a little. Aerith felt somewhat proud of herself that she had been able to get under his skin a little! "You know, that sounds a little tempting! But you don't seem to that the voice for singing, so it would probably be a horrible idea, anyway," she replied with a sly grin. Okay, now she was feeling better after letting out her annoyance and seeing him finally respond back in kind. Better to be open about it than make snide remarks! The young woman did feel badly about his livelihood being destroyed, though. Aerith knew she could grow back the flowers with some care, but he seemed to be really out of luck with his shop gone and being mistaken for a criminal. Though he seemed to get into trouble really easily. [break][break]
"Yes, the universe is telling me to let you just fall to your dooms, but I just keep helping, anyway." Another soft sigh as she shrugs her shoulders and ignores the rather weird curse he has. Thal's Balls? Who was Thal and why would one curse his balls? Probably some deity from whatever world he came from. But what really caught her attention was his explanation of how his shop had been destroyed. Aerith felt her face pale somewhat when she heard mention of none other than Sephiroth. Oh, well, that would explain why Cloud had reacted the way he had. Seeing his old enemy would trigger him quite easily, especially when she recalled how she had apparently been killed by the man. Or some form of him, anyway. [break][break]
"Sephiroth. The man's name with the long sword is Sephiroth." But she had no intention of mentioning Cloud's name with the rest of the story coming out. Another soft sigh escaped her as the pieces fell into place. Cloud must have seen Sephiroth and had attacked without thought at seeing his former tormentor. If she had been there, perhaps she would have been able to keep him back. There was no use in thinking about the what-ifs, though. What was done had been done and Cloud did owe an apology at the very least to Alexander. "I'm sorry that happened to you, though. I can't exactly tell you where Sephiroth would be. Back in my world, he was always hard to find."
[attr="class","ayab-text"] Was leaving here an option? Because he really was rude and seemed to interpret everything to his own viewpoint with a care. A shame his pride really had not been broken by his fall! He could really use being knocked down a peg or two to be a little nicer! "That's not what I said! I said the lifestream made them more resilient. And they wouldn't have died had you not fallen on them!" Aerith felt her ire raising with nearly every word he said, and she usually thought of herself as relatively patient! Well, most of the time. But he seemed to enjoy pushing buttons without even trying. What was that phrase she had been told as a child? Some sort of troll that lived under a bridge? Something like that, anyway! He could stand to have a little more manners and be less...well, him. [break][break]
Not his sword but his sword? Aerith stared at him with the most deadpan expression she could muster before shaking her head once again. By the time this meeting was over, she was going to have an ache in her neck. The muttered comment was not appreciated as she soon let go of his arm to stand in front of him with one hand on her hip while she used the other to jab him in the chest with her finger. "I don't need the unwanted commentary, you know! Those flowers took time and effort to plant and they can take weeks to grow! I don't mind that they broke your fall, but you could be kinder about it. Honestly, it's like you just enjoy being mean to get a rise out of people!" Her cheeks were puffed out from her annoyance before she huffed and shook her head. What was even the point? The sooner she got rid of him, then the sooner she could get back to her plants. [break][break]
"I'd like you to be less rude, but I'll blame it on running from the guards." Aerith huffed at Alexander once more before grabbing his arm and dragging him forward like before. If he was going to be rude, then she would just be rude back! Not that he would really care it seemed, but it made her feel a little better. Maybe he had destroyed his own shop after all! A part of her was now even a little secretly glad that Cloud may have been the one to do so. Okay, that was mean even for her. Having your livelihood destroyed was horrible and took a lot of gil to build back up. She could not help but wonder if Alexander had provoked Cloud in some way or it had just been collateral damage. [break][break]
"So, how was your shop destroyed? You said some man wielding a giant sword?"
[attr="class","ayab-text"] "I don't need the lifestream to garden, but it did make the flowers more resilient to this sort of thing. I've had this happen to me twice before," Aerith lamented with another sigh. It was just another thing about this world that continued to baffle her. She could sense how very fragile everything was here. If one thing were to go wrong, then she worried what would happen. Where did the souls of those that died go? This planet seemed to have some sort of will to pluck about anyone it so chose, but there was no collective consciousness that she could sense. And, well, it still left her feeling somewhat empty in a way. "I'll have to replant some of them and tie supports to the rest that weren't completely damaged." [break][break]
He really was rather rude! He reminded her of Cid in a way, but without the smoking and constant cursing. Cloud had been quite cool in his mannerisms towards her during their first meeting, too. Perhaps it was better to give the man the benefit of the doubt and get him to the station. Then she could come back and tend to the mess he had left of her flowers! "So now you're realizing that running around with a giant sword might paint a target on your back?" she mused with a quirked brow. It was a rather neat trick to watch him drop his sword into his shadow, though! Oh, was that a special form of magic from his own world? All Aerith could claim was that her staff folded into a neat, compactable version that she held onto her dress with a clip. The Ancients did make their weapons quite sturdy and reliable! [break][break]
An asshole with blonde, spiky hair and a giant sword? There was only one person she knew with that description. Well, not she knew two! "Have you looked into a mirror at all? You kinda resemble that, you know. You have the hair and the giant sword, but I doubt you would ruin your own shop even if you seem quite fine with destroying other people's hard work." Another side-eye from her even as she smirked just a little. But, really, what had Cloud been up to during their time apart? Sometimes she really worried about the trouble he could get into without even trying! Something she would have to ask him when she met up with him again. [break][break]
There were a few twists and turns as she brought him through some back alleys to hopefully avoid any wandering guards. The last thing she needed was to get caught up in this guy's mess. Aerith had enough of her own worries at present, thank you! But she may as well get to know this stranger a little more, right? "So, what's your name? I'm Aerith. I'd say it's a pleasure to meet you, but you are kinda rude," she said with a laugh.
[attr="class","ayab-text"] What annoyed her more than anything else was the complete lack of care he displayed towards the flowers he had crushed. Not even an apology or even a grimace that he had destroyed what had taken her a couple of weeks to grow out. Aerith felt her smile fade as she stood with her hands upon her hips. "You know, those took me weeks to grow and plant just right. This planet has no lifestream for me to use, so now they're just ruined and crushed!" Yes, she was certainly glad his fall had been softened, but he just seemed completely uncaring of it all. Even Cloud and Zack had the courtesy to be a little guilty! A soft escaped her as she shook her head. The man would probably hardly care at all, because she had yet to meet anyone else that appreciated plant-life like she did. Well, besides Tifa, anyway. [break][break]
"Did you seriously just use a pun? And a really bad one at that? Pride always comes before the fall, as they say," she said without a hint of a smile. What? She may as well use a pun back, right? Aerith knelt back down and ran her hands over the crushed flowers with a frown marring her lips. The stalks were damaged and the less bent ones were certainly bruised. She would need to tie supports to them to aid them in regrowing properly, and there was the silver lining that some of the bulbs had yet to sprout. But there was loosening the soil again and ensuring that nothing else had been damaged from his impromptu landing. What a mess! [break][break]
But at least he had thanked her. That helped to quell some of her annoyance as she stood back up and brushed off the skirt of her dress. A quick way to the station? Without alerting xenophobic guards? "What did you do? There's no reason for the guards to chase you unless you did something." Aerith crossed her arms over her chest and tilted her head up at him. This really was turning into the oddest sense of deja vu! Were Turks going to show up behind him and threaten to take her back to Shinra? Another huff escapes her as she shakes her head and turns away to lead him forward. Well, not before grabbing onto his arm and physically getting him out of her flowerbed. [break][break]
"Your best bet is to not come crashing through the rooftops, you know. Follow me and no wandering off on your own!" And, for once, Aerith was not even charging one date for her help! Or, well, asking him to be her bodyguard. Cloud still had that role covered and she had gotten much better with defending herself! Well, most of the time!
[attr="class","ayab-text"] Sonora was a sprawling cityscape filled with the decay of metal and scent of damp wood that had been left to rot. In an odd way, she felt quite at home here within this city. Of course, both Cloud and Tifa were here as well. That was her most important reason for feeling at peace here, and she had even made friends with Seymour! Aerith made a mental note to see how the youth was faring in the near future. He seemed to have gotten his bearings after she had lead him back here, but she still worried if he was acclimating well. His Spira seemed much different from this world and the things he was used to. She did have his number to call him, though! When it was a little later in the day she would try and leave him a message if he did not pick up. [break][break]
But, for now, she was keeping herself busy with this secret space she had found during her exploration of the city. An abandoned building of some sort that seemed to have once been someone's home. Either way, it was away from the main part of the city and the soil of the building was actually quite nutrient-rich from what she could tell! Another attempt to grow some flowers, but she was a little handicapped this time. There was no lifestream in this planet for her to subtly manipulate to hasten the growth and health of the flora. No, Aerith had to rely upon her own green-thumb and hope that there would not be too much rain to drown away the newly sprouted seeds she had planted. It was an interesting challenge for her and one she was thriving on! [break][break]
Cloud was taking his own odd jobs to earn gil, and she was doing her best to aid her friends. Aerith was hoping that with time she may be able to open a flower shop of her own! All she had to do was grow the supply first and beg Cloud to make her a flower cart. With her patented sad-face, she was sure her friend would agree to her request! But, of course, her amusing thoughts were cast aside when she heard a crack within the ceiling above her crack and splintered would fell down around her. Aerith let out a startled squeak as she jumped back when a body soon followed the rotting wood of the ceiling. [break][break]
Was her life beginning to run on repeat? [break][break]
A man with a rather large sword strapped to his back had landed upon her newly budded flowers with the most dazed expression she had seen since Cloud had done the same thing. Was this a sign from the universe? Was she about to go on yet another life-changing journey? Aerith bit back a sigh as she walked forward before kneeling down with a contemplative expression. Well, he did not look too injured, but she raised her hand as she called forth her curative magics to aid the concussion he most likely had earned for himself. "Helloooo?" she called out with a tilt of her head. "You know, traveling over rotting, wooden rooftops was probably not the best idea you had today." Her lips were curled into an amused smile as she waited for the stranger to rouse himself.
[attr="class","ayab-text"] The hand upon her shoulder was not expected, but Aerith sincerely appreciated the comfort from her friend. She was used to offering any amount of emotional support that her friends needed. She felt such an painful need to give at times because of how lonely and isolated she had been. Any person that became her friend she would latch onto with all of her worth. So, she often forgot to be a little selfish with herself and that she needed support at times, too. That she was not alone even on this strange world with so many things making very little sense to her. If she could hold onto those around her, then she was content to make do with what was right here in front of her. [break][break]
"You're plenty interesting, Cloud! You have so many experiences that belong just to you. No one else can say that, right?" she asked with another smile. The same reassurances she would always fall back to until Cloud believed them for himself. One day he certainly would! The chill of the wind had her rubbing her hands over her arms in a vain attempt to warm herself up a little. This place seemed a little colder than Midgar even, or perhaps she had been away from the city too long. If only this world had plucked her away with an actual jacket! At least she had arrived in her clothing. Now that would have been even worse. [break][break]
She paused at the mention of Tifa as her entire face lit up brightly. Oh, how long had it been since she had seen Tifa? Well, only a few days from her own memory, but so much had happened beyond her own scattered sense of time. Aerith was already on her feet as she rocked back and forth on her heels with her hands clasped behind her back. "I want to see her, too! I know it hasn't been that long for me, but I want to see if seeing me may help her memory along. Being around familiar places or people can help!" And if it did not work? Well, Aerith was still quite happy to see her best friend again!
[attr="class","ayab-text"] Zack? Aerith felt her insides chill at the mention of her first love. He had always been in the back of her mind throughout their journey, and she had thought of him constantly for years after their parting. How many letters had she written him? How many of them had gone unanswered? Over time, she had simply believed he had found someone else and forgotten her. Why would he not? Aerith was no one special and he had been so full of life and adventure. And she had been stuck in the Slums with so many invisible ties chaining her to Shinra and her status as a Cetra. The company would never have willingly let her leave Midgar and she had escaped admist blood and smoke to find a form of freedom. And even then her heritage had haunted her. [break][break]
Aerith found herself curiously silent as Cloud began to explain more of his past and his own ties to Zack. In a way, she had known that Cloud had not been his true self. His mannerisms and words had been too much like Zack to be a coincidence. The way Tifa had acted at times whenever he spoke of stories that her friend seemed hesitant about. But she had never wished to push him too far, and she remembered what she had told him before. How she was searching for the true Cloud beneath the bravado and the flair. Before she could realize it, she found tears suddenly trailing down her cheeks as she laughed. A tremulous and fragile sound even to her own ears. [break][break]
"I wrote him eighty-nine letters over four years. He never responded to a single one, so I thought he had moved on. I kind of expected it, you know? He was so bright and full of life. I thought he was so above my reach that I was just so happy someone like him noticed me," she admitted quietly. Her lips were curled into a threadbare smile before she looked up at Cloud. "Thank you, Cloud. For letting me know. I-it means a lot to know he still thought of me." But she was not that young, naive girl anymore with the stars in her eyes and the world so far beyond her reach. [break][break]
"Buuuut~ That doesn't mean you aren't you! You're still Cloud to me whether you were really in SOLDIER or not!" Her smile was bright once more as her green eyes glittered with purpose. "I told you I wanted to know the real you, and I still very much do! All the things you are willing to share with me when you'd like to."

Her smug expression only grew worse as Seymour admitted defeat. Hah, she had known the younger man had a sweet tooth! He was the sort that kept to himself and did not admit to liking new things easily at all. Aerith could sympathize to a degree, since she had experienced a very lonely childhood herself. But she had had her mother and her adopted mother to be there for her most of her life. And, well, there had been the muted voices of the lifestream as well. The absence of a lifestream on this planet still left her feeling empty in a way. A part of her had been lost since coming here and she did not know if it would come back. For the first time since she could remember, she was completely bereft of her mother's voice and the hum of the planet. [break][break]
What did all of it mean? "I've seen snow a few times, but it never really reached the lower plates of Midgar. We had an artificial sun and light to make do with while those on the upper plates could enjoy the wide, open sky and true sunlight," she admitted with a rueful smile. Nearly everyone who lived in the Slums aspired to move to the upper plates of Midgar to escape poverty and danger. But there had been warmth and companionship as well. "Well, hopefully, the two of us can see more of what this world has to offer! We could start an entirely new journey and begin our lives anew. Doesn't that sound worthwhile?" [break][break]
Soon enough the plates had been cleared and it was time to move on. Seymour needed to find an inn and a clothing store to find some more worthwhile attire. Those robes looked far too cumbersome to be of much use! "I can show you a nearby inn! And there should be nearby phone store. We can set up a plan for you, so you can call me whenever you need me." she reassured brightly. Already Aerith was upon her feet with another wide smile as she grabbed for Seymour's hand to bring him with her. "I don't know if they had phones in Spira, but they let you communicate over a great distance. This way, if you need me, I'll be right there in a hurry!" [break][break]
OOC: Sorry for the wait again! But, yeah, we can end it here or with your next post. <33
