[attr="class","curragepost"] Cassie was unsure of what to make of the armored man before her. His entire appearance was intimidating and not one to be underestimated. There was a darkness to him that curled around the edge of her senses and warned her to be wary. A predator amongst prey with how he carried himself and seemed to dissect her very being apart. It reminded her oddly of Zenos, but she knew it was not him beneath that armored plating. Oh, no, she had no wish to cross paths Zenos yae Galvus ever again if she could help it. Her fingers itched to curl around the smooth metal of her chakrams, but she would not provoke a fight if one could be avoided. [break][break]
His voice was of a deep baritone and quite cold to her delicate hearing. She had weathered far worse than a simple tone of greeting, though. Cassie made no view to venture closer as her concern for his wellbeing began to err into caution instead. Her head tilted to the side as she listened to him. "I can sense the unrest of the spirits within this forest and how twisted the aether here has become as a result," she replied calmly. A part of her bristled at being addressed as 'creature' because she was hardly such a thing. Was he a Hyur beneath that armor of his or something else? [break][break]
"My names is Dorea and you are unknown to me as well." Cassie held caution close to her as she simply gave him her middle name over her given one. A part of her wished to leave him to his own devices even as curiosity settled within her. What to do? Perhaps converse with him and obtain what information she could. He seemed to be as new to this world as she still was.
[attr="class","curragepost"] That meant he was no longer tempered? Or, well, that he could no longer hear Zodiark's whims in this world. It was a world completely untethered to the Source or the gods that had once ruled it. That was a small relief that she did not have to worry about trying to prevent another Calamity from taking place. But what would happen to the Source with all of them gone? Would Hydaelyn simply choose new heroes to rise up in their place? It seemed like the most likely scenario if they could not find their own way back in time. Cassie wondered if even the Exarch could reach out across this time and space to pluck them back to the First. [break][break]
"You have always spoken the truth," she acknowledged quietly. Or as much of the truth he was willing to share for his narrative. There were plenty of secrets that he still kept to himself, but it was none of her business what he kept to himself. Cassie knew she had more pressing concerns than to worry over the word games Hades enjoyed indulging in. And she would not wish to commit the cardinal sin of boring him now, right? If he took to retiring to the shade once more then she would not mind. Eventually, her equilibrium adjusted itself as her vertigo began to settle and her vision became less blurry the longer she stood. [break][break]
North in Torensten? A lightheartedness overtook her at the news as she looked to Hades and smiled genuinely at him in gratitude. If nothing else, then she was thankful for the aid of a general direction to start in. "I cannot say I blame him. It is a burden I would not wish upon anyone." As for being able to find north, she simply placed her hand upon a nearby tree and allowed her aether to swell outward. It was a neat trick she had learned for herself and seemed oddly familiar. Moss began to creep along the tree as it bloomed and curled beneath her fingertips to show her the way north. Moss tended to grow away from direct sunlight, which tended to be on the southside of where trees were standing. "I have learned enough tricks over the years to aid me in travel."
[attr="class","curragepost"] How much did he know about her, then? Cassie cast a sideways glance at the Ascian as she thought over those worrying words. Did it even matter at the moment? A sincere part of her hoped that she never crossed paths with Lahabrea again. What he had done to Thancred had been enough and she felt no remorse for the fate that had befallen him. "I will not say I feel flattered, but I know you did not intend it as such. Know thy enemy and whatnot," she replied with a flourish of her hand. The brief rest she was taking helped to ease away the nauseation and the lightheadedness that still plagued her. This felt just as taxing as when she had been brought to the First by the Exarch. [break][break]
A world called Zephon? Was this another reflection of the Source? The more she heard the more she wished she had not asked at all. Her heart twisted within her chest at the idea of yet another deity pulling at her strings as they wished. Had Hydaelyn not asked enough of her? Had she not done enough to aid in saving the Source with Alexander? Cassie looked down at her hands as she noticed she had clenched them into fists. Idly she realized they were also shaking as well. She slowly began to inhale and exhale as she took a moment to slowly release her anger into the air around her. [break][break]
The mention of Alexander and Lycoris caught her attention and relief flooded her for just a brief moment. Well, until he mentioned there was no way to get back. What of the Scions? Ryne? Ayako? The rest of the friends she had made? Cassie felt more exhausted than she ever recalled feeling as nervous laughter bubbled against her lips. "No, I am sure you have not." The thone of her voice was strained as she looked back down to her clenched hands. Closing her eyes, she reached out with her senses for that familiar hum of the Blessing beneath her skin. A connection she had been aware of ever since she had first set off to venture throughout Eorzea. [break][break]
"I cannot feel her." Surprise was etched onto her features as she made the realization. What did that mean? Was the Echo torn from her? Was such a thing possible? Cassie hastily pushed herself back into a standing position even as she swayed. There was a village nearby, yes? If she reached out with her senses, then she would make out the aether of these moogles. If she could just find a way to reach Alexander then everything would be alright. "Thank you for the information. I need to keep moving forward."
[attr="class","curragepost"] The long-suffering sigh was all the confirmation she needed as every muscle within her tensed as the glamour before her dispersed and revealed an Ascian who should be very much gone. She had witnessed Alexander cleave into him with all of the combined light aether from the Light Wardens. Did this mean that other Ascians had survived as well? It was a nauseating idea that had her leaning more heavily against the tree as her mind whirred and raced. "I am happy to have amused you so with my terror and panic," she drawled, amber eyes narrowed as anger continued to simmer beneath her. She felt the oddest conflict of wishing to stab him through the face and weep from the sight of him. It was a familiar issue she had held ever since she met him and she did not know why. [break][break]
"The oddest sense of familiarity and deja vu I cannot even begin to explain. As for your name, would you prefer Solus, then? As it seems you have not killed me whilst I was unconscious, then I surmise you do not wish me immediate harm." Beyond a heart attack and grief over the glamour of a loved one being dead before her. What was one more image for nightmare fodder? Cassie sighed and tried to push herself from the tree but her vision continued to whir as she did so. By the gods, how much of a strain had this placed upon her? She inhaled slowly before allowing herself to simply slide onto the ground until she was sitting with her back leaning against the tree. [break][break]
Her eyes closed as she tried to tune out Hades' words over Ayako. Joke of an Au Ra? Perhaps it would be a mercy if he simply killed her and be done with it. At least she would not have to bear the sound of his smug voice any longer. "And what does any of that matter to you? My personal matters are my own. I am more concerned about where I am and how I got here. And, well, now you are here as well." Had she actually died? If nothing else, then she no longer had to be pulled about by Hydaelyn if that was the case.
[attr="class","curragepost"] Eventually, she opened her eyes and the first thing she saw was a streak of crimson. Her vision was blurred until she regained enough focus to make out the familiar form of Ayako. A friend from when she had journeyed to the Far East and one that took her muddled mind a few moments to register. What escaped her next was a piercing, horrified scream as she quickly pushed her numb limbs into a sitting position. Cassie felt her heart race agonizingly against her chest and she had already reached out to the lifeless form before she felt the tendrils of aether. Illusion magicks that barely halted the heaving of her chest as she tried to disperse the panic thrumming in her veins. A horrid, cruel thing to awaken to as she quickly stumbled onto her feet and blindly reached for her weapons. [break][break]
Her chakrams rested against her hips along with her rapier, but she felt too dizzy and aether sick from whatever had delivered her here. This was not the First and she was trying to discern what the hell was going on. A darkening thought crept across her mind on who could possibly know her just enough to create such illusion magicks. An Ascian? Who was left to do this to her, though? Elidibus had been hiding within the Garlean capital while he wore Zenos' body as his own the last she knew. Lahabrea had been defeated so long ago and Hades had been the next to fall. She inhaled sharply at the latter thought as she leaned heavily against a nearby tree as her vision continued to blur about the edges.[break][break]
"Hades?" It seemed so very unlikely, but she was already doubting everything around her. Because Alexander never would have been so cruel to her if he had been the one to find her. If he was here. Where even was here? Anger and anxiety continued to war within her as she could not keep herself from staring at the lifeless form of her friend. The Gods were cruel and so was whatever deity that had dragged her into this unfamiliar land.
[attr="class","curragebot"]That is so uncalled for.

There was a darkness to these woods that was difficult for her to ignore. A deep-seated chaos and bloodshed that seemed to soak into the very soil and the trees surrounding her. Slim fingers pressed against the weathered bark of a tree near her and she felt herself shudder somewhat beneath the weight of it all. The aether of this forest was corrupted and twisted in a way she hesitated to even draw upon. Cassie wished she had been more studious within Conjury, but she knew just enough to aid her within her Red Magic. This land was so very different from Eorzea and she felt the loss of her world keenly. As much as a new start was appealing to her, she knew that she needed to get back there somehow. What would happen without her there? Had Alexander been brought here as well?[break][break]
She paused in her movements as she caught the sound of a low thud. It was muffled and difficult to hear, but she had learned to trust her senses over the years. Her half-Elezen status allowed her more keen hearing than the average Hyur. Her footsteps were light and nearly soundless as she ventured closer to the source of the sound. The chakrams she had indicated her Dancer soul crystal was in use, and it left her with the knowledge needed for quick movements and precise attacks if needed. Cassie sincerely hoped she was not happening upon a dark creature of some sort. [break][break]
Her amber eyes narrowed as she peered around the thick trunk of a tree to catch sight of a heavily armored being kneeling upon the ground. Confusion flickered across her features as she simply watched them stroke the ground beneath them. Were they sensing what she could? Cassie was unsure if she should announce her presence or simply fade back into the woods behind her. What if they were injured or lost? She had been lost the moment she had awoken in this world and she would feel it keenly if she were to leave them here without aid. She was still cautious as she allowed her footsteps to easily be heard as she ventured to a safe distance away from the armored being. "Are you injured?"
All she could feel was this bewildering numbness that seemed to stretch out from within her heart to all of her limbs. It gave her a sense of weightlessness, but it also dimmed all of her senses to this utter blackness. All of it seemed so infinite and endless as she tried to wade through it, but no amount of movement would allow her to do so. What had she been doing before this blackness? Trying to even recall such a thing caused her pain, but she could hardly even cry out to voice it. Everything was a haze as she simply existed within the blackness of her far-away mind. [break][break]
Eventually, some senses began to return to her, and the first one she could determine was the sensation of touch. She could distantly discern that she was resting on her back and that it was somewhat soft beneath her. A cool breeze brushed over her skin gently, and she almost wished to fall back into that blackness to simply sleep within this comfortable setting. She gently pushed aside the urge before trying to discern more of her returned senses. The next one to come to her was hearing because she could make out the rustling of leaves and the sound of muted footsteps on crisp grass. Oh, was she in a field of some sort? Had she been traveling? Trying to force these hazy memories only caused her a dull headache as a result. [break][break]
Perhaps it was simply best to remain in this state between dreaming and the waking world. Hazy images flashed through her mind unbidden, but they were gone before she could truly grasp one to herself. An impression remained on her lips; a name that was not her own. ‘Oh, I suppose it’s nice to have a name if I can’t recall my own,’ she thought dazedly. All she wished to do was say it to make it real because then it would mean she was real as well, right? If only she could remember what it was that had made her real before…
[attr="class","curragebot"]Have an unconscious Cassie!
[attr="class","ion-heart"] i'll be waiting come and find me
Cassandra Amell hails from the world of Hydaelyn, also known as The Source. The main reflection of the fourteen shards and a Warrior of Light that has striven to protect her world for years. Her memories are somewhat murky at present from being pulled into this new world, but she remembers her friends and those she fought with and against. For now, she is trying her best to find a familiar face and get her footing in this new land. A part of her wishes to go back home and another wishes to stay where no one here knows her title or her fame.
FRIENDSHIPS COULD YOU BE DREAMING THAT WE'RE MEANT TO BE?
Cassie is a charismatic young woman that enjoys meeting new people and gaining their trust. It is genuinely in her nature to wish to help others, and she often does so at the cost of her own wellbeing. She goes out of her way to be that shoulder for people to lean against when they are at their worst and is quite empathetic to most people. Over the years she has lost the usual cheer she once wore about her like a cloak, but she still easily smiles and cares for others regardless. Loyalty is so important to her and she goes out of her way to prove her loyalty to her friends and loved ones.
HATESHIPS WON'T SAY I LOVE YOU - THAT'S CRAZY, YOU SEE
There are plenty of enemies she has made over the years as a Warrior of Light. The easiest of those consisting most within the Garlean Empire and the Ascians as well. Cassie has constantly stood steadfast against them even as it has chipped away at her resolve and longing to finally be at rest. Of course, she tends to dislike anyone that wishes to harm the innocent simply for the sake of it. She also feels it keenly if anyone betrays her trust and will not likely forgive them.
LOVESHIPS DON'T EVEN TRY TO UNDERSTAND ME
Love is something that Cassie strives for and fights against. She feels that she should not have anyone intimately involved with her life, since she often stands at the forefront of danger and does not wish for her partner to be in danger. She wishes so much to love and be loved in return wholeheartedly. Most people in her life have set her up on a pedestal they dare not to touch. Because she is a Warrior of Light? Because she is too far above them? It hurts her deeply and so wishes for someone to simply see her as herself and not for the title she was 'blessed' with.

"Tell me. Is all of this worth it?"
I. BASICS
FULL NAME:: Cassandra Dorea Amell NICKNAMES:: Cassie, Cass, Warrior of Light/Darkness GENDER:: Female AGE:: Twenty-five ORIENTATION:: Bisexual ALIGNMENT:: Neutral HOMEWORLD:: Hydaelyn, The Source
HEIGHT:: 5ft 7in HAIR/EYES/SKIN:: Blonde/Blue/Fair DISTINGUISHING MARKS:: She has delicately pointed ears that speak of her half-Elezen nature.
II. PERSONA
Cassie is not the same person she was when she set about as a wide-eyed, young adventurer at seventeen. No, she has experienced so much between then and now that she knows she is not the same. At her core, she has not changed too much, though. A kind, caring young woman who often goes out of her way to help those around her even at the cost of her own health or mental wellness. It is not as if she disregards herself on purpose, but she places so much of herself into the role she was chosen for that she can forget to be selfish with herself. Darker places in her mind have been plaguing her as of late about not caring so much for others when she has done so much time and again for her world. A melancholic, temperamental side of her that she often hides away and tries not to show her friends and loved ones.
There is a deep stubborn streak within her that is hard to break once she sets her mind on something. It can be an advantageous thing in regards to her determination to see her goals through, or it can leave her somewhat close-minded towards her own actions and behaviors in getting there. Sometimes she needs a voice of reason to pull her back into rational thinking. She is a clever, intelligent young woman that falls easily into witty banter with her friends and even those she first meets. It gives her a rather charismatic aura where she smiles easily and gives an open hand to those that need aid or simply someone to converse with. She is not quite as open with her own personal life details, but she is more than willing to speak with those that are troubled.
She was once a very optimistic young woman with the stars in her eyes and faith that everything in the world was good. No, that was not true in the least. Countless battles with the Garlean Empire, with Primals, against those that had once been her allies, has left her somewhat jaded and tired of it all. Cassie continues to help and give and she feels a sort of emptiness with it. How much more of herself can she give until there is little left of her? She falls into that melancholic state and retreats into herself and from her friends as she tries to shake herself out of such thoughts. It leaves her feeling guilty for thinking such a way and angry at the world. A fit of anger that can be easily triggered at times towards those deserving and undeserving. Sometimes she wishes she had never been chosen by the Mothercrystal and others she would not change it for the world because of those she has met and the ties that bind her to them.
III. BACKGROUND
During her journey, she stayed within Ul'dah for a time and became a Thaumaturge under the study of Alexander Sorel. Eventually, he gave her the soul stone of the Black Mage. Cassie took to the ancient teachings quite well and added the arsenal of these dangerous spells to her repertoire. It is a class that can be difficult with the time it can take to cast a spell, but she has avoided this somewhat with her Red Mage training and the aetherial manipulation that allows her to rush to her ally's side.
Cassie has always been magically inclined with sensitivity to the aether around her and how to manipulate it as she wills. As a young girl, she was trained by her father in the art of Red Magic and eventually given his soul stone before he passed. Upon Zephon, it is merely a keepsake as she has kept to the arts of her mentor. She has an elegant style to her that relies on speed and balance to evade her foes from afar before drawing in close to release her physical attacks to catch her target off guard. As her rapier also acts as her focus, it allows her to cast the forbidden spells taught to her as a Black Mage and Thaumaturge.
IV. HISTORY
Chosen. Blessed. Warrior of Light.
These were titles that have followed Cassie for so many years now. Sometimes she even forgets who she had been before Hydaelyn had chosen her to carry out her tasks in order to save the Source time again. She recalls being a young girl eager to help those in need and so she took the teachings of her father and became an adventurer for Gridania. Oh, she fell into so many adventures and met so many people on her long and arduous path. The most influential one would be from her friend and mentor: Alexander Sorel. Both of them had been chosen by Hydaelyn and had been blessed with the Echo.
She learned from him and met those allied with him as well. Various people became important to her as she fought by their sides. At least until the culmination of the Fall of Dalamud and all of the tragedy that came with it. Cassie was on the frontlines with Alex as she fought endless waves of Garlean soldiers and watched with awe and horror as Bahamut broke free from his prison. She would have fought to her last breath if not for Louisoux and the spell he cast to fling herself and her fellows into the future by five years. Cassie awoke to find herself in a verdant forest with no one beside her as she awoke.
Once more she found herself within the familiar woods and glades of Gridania. So many things had changed, and when she managed to get back to her home she found that all of Eorzea was recovering from the Fall of Dalamud. Louisoux had sacrificed himself to prevent Bahamut from bringing about the destruction of Eorzea and she realized that everyone could no longer recall the Warriors of Light that had fought beside them. Cassie did not proclaim herself one of those missing, because who would believe her? Eventually, her blessing of the Echo brought her to the path of those familiar to her as she made a name for herself once more in Gridania.
The Scions of the Seventh Dawn were familiar companions to her and it lead to her reunion with her friend Alex. To know he had also survived was a great relief to her as they journeyed to repair this realm reborn. Cassie aided in pushing back the Garlean remnants that wished to take Eorzea and the Allagan superweapon they had been utilizing known as Ultima. Saving the realm once more and ushering in the Seventh Astral Era. Sadly, such peace will never last for long when the Ascians are ever plotting and the Garleans wish for world domination.
There were so many other journeys and tales to be created. Betrayal by those that wished to decry the Scions and the Warriors of Light. An adventure that lead her to Ishgard and the bitter war between dragon and man. She fought to end the thousand-year war and to bring about a new peace to Ishgard and dragon-kind both. And even afterward, there was more violence from the Garlean Empire, which lead her to aid in the freedom of both Ala Mhigo and Doma from their tyranny. Sadly, there was no pause even after defeating Shinryu and seeing the Crown Prince of Garlemald end his own life.
The Ascians plotted and an old friend began to call for the Warriors of Light to prevent the Eighth Umbral Calamity. Instead, she watched as one-by-one her friends were called away in her place until only she and Alexander remained. Eventually, the spell did work and she found herself called to the First where that world hung on by only a thread. Light threatened to swallow the world whole and the machinations of Emet-Selch were to be played upon Norvrandt. Felling the Light Wardens eventually brought about victory and a colossal battle against Emet-Selch and his wishes to bring about the rejoining to right the Sundering of his people.
It was a hard-fought victory and one that was bittersweet to her. Cassie would remember them as Emet-Selch had asked of them. With Norvrandt safe, for the time being, she journeyed with Alex and aided in trying to find a way to bring the Scions safely back to the Source. When that could not happen, she would journey back to Eorzea and aid in making sure the Empire kept to their stalemate for the time being. At least until she attempted to venture back to Norvrandt and found herself within an entirely new world.
Cassie found herself once more alone in a land unfamiliar to her and with none of her companions by her side. Her Blessing was also gone from her, which worried her more than anything. How had she gotten here? Why could she no longer feel her connection to Hydaelyn? What was to become of her? She does not know and attempts to get her footing in this unknown land where no one knows who she is and she knows nothing of them.
V. AUTHOR
PLAYER ALIAS:: Mjrn OTHER CHARACTERS:: None ROLE-PLAYING EXPERIENCE:: Thirteen years HOW YOU FOUND US:: Referred by Waga NOTES FOR CONSIDERATION:: N/A ROLE-PLAY SAMPLE:: She chases wisps of smoke that curl and slip through her fingertips--ephemeral and fleeting like stardust and moonlight.
What is she chasing? Memories? A dream? Cassie can no longer quite recall, because she has been chasing after something for as long as she can remember. Whether it be silly, childish longings or the desires of a young woman. And then over the length of her journeys she finds herself chasing after the light of crystals and blessings and companionship with people she has only known for the length of months.
There is no time for her to simply stop and revel in what she has found. Because she is the most comfortable when she is running that she does not know how to stop. How can she? Her father had asked her mother and herself to flee to the relative safety of Eorzea nearly two decades ago, and perhaps that was when she had first started. Her home was a distant, bittersweet memory that slipped through her fingers like the sands of that beloved desert.
Her home, her dreams, and her very being seemed lost until she could no longer quite discern who she was. Who was she? Who had she ever been? A runaway vagrant with no true place she could call her own? Eorzea was almost everything she had ever known, but her heart sang for the tales her mother had spoken of to her of glittering sands and an even greater city before it had been taken from them.
And now--now she was hailed as the Warrior of Light to all across the whole of Eorzea. So many people that looked to her, idolized her, and placed her atop such a high pedestal there was no way she could run from it. How could she? Cassie never asked for this burden and role but she bore it as much as she could even though it left her screaming and clawing within the shadows of her heart. Where would she run to now? Perhaps to where she was next directed to stop Garlemald and the Ascians and everything that threatened the very fabric of this star.
Was one person meant to stand between Hydaelyn and oblivion? Perhaps she has not realized that she has stopped running only to find herself drowning instead. Cassie weeps where no one sees or questions. For herself, for the people she has not been able to save, and for what she was beginning to long for with all of her heart.
Ephemeral wisps of smoke and dust that may never be hers. So what does she do? Cassandra Amell runs as she always has and prays that perhaps someday, someone will be able to stop her and tell her that she can cease in her running. That she need not run from herself or what she has gained any longer. Someone that lets her drown in them and love them and find in them the home she has wanted to run towards for her entire life.
