She said her name. For most it would be such a simply gesture, a sibling calling your name. But for Serah it was different. After Fal'ce, after trips through time... And most of all because of this parasite she learned to cherish hearing such simple things. After all their had always been the chance she woudnt here it again.
"Sorry, I know your still recovering... I suppose I got overexcited... You've been out for weeks"
Emotions ran wild in her body. For weeks now she had attended to her older sister. For weeks she maintained her grudge against whatever had made it come to this. If it was the parasite alone then she was glad she destroyed it. She was glad she hurt it. She could let a lot of things go but... Not hurting and controlling her loved ones, not twisting them to things they'd never do. The memory caused her to reach for the knife, still held at her side briefly by reflex. A sigh escaped her lips-and she returned her full attention to Lightining. She shouldn't let that creature sully this wonderful moment.
"I've been wondering... I don't know how aware you were while that... thing had a hold on you, or how long... But I'll try to fill in what I can sus. Right now were in a place called Provo"
Her sister was hurt, it would take her time to recover. But what was important was that she was here. She was herself again, even if hazy on things. She had to admit it felt nice being able to in some way repay her for everything she had done. Behind them Mog's head bobbed down at Light's gaze, confirmation he had continued to do what had been asked of him.
"Oh! Are you hungry? I think we still have some leftovers from what me and Mog ate last night"
She would have offered to make something fresh but even if she had been out cold the whole time it had still been two weeks since Lightining had properly eaten. She HAD to be hungry, making her wait longer just woudn't do.
"Of course I'll make something fresh later, I am the cook put of us after all~"
A smile crossed her face as she teased her older sibling. It was true- Her sister was a warrior, not a cook. Excusing herself she took a moment to go and do just that-getting to work heating a plate of vegetables and meat. While she did so Mog took the chance to float around the bed Lightining sat on.
"Kupo! Serah would make a great medic Kupo! She's attended to you ever sense that woeful clash, Kupo. Kept you Warm... Clean and as comfortable as she could Kupo!"
Serah came back with a small tray containing the leftovers and put them on a stool beside her. If she didn't want them now well... They would still be there for later. Serah then took a sitting position once more by her sister. Her previous smile quickly shifting to one of concern.
"So how are you feeling? I know it must still be sore.... Your still gonna be rough for a while I think after.... All that"
Though she was grateful they were able to save her, that entire conflcit was not a happy memory for her outside the ending. Having to fight her sister, twisted to that bugs ends. To have to almost end her in order to save her.... It wasn't a memory she was eager to relive in her head if she could avoid it.

Talk went about the town, Of a young pink haired woman. She had the same routine everyday-she came into town, got what supplies she needed and went home to care for whoever was in the little building she rented out. If asked she would answer with it being her sister. But other than Serah herself no one else in town had seen this sister. The girl in fact made a point of not accepting visitors at this point 'She needs all the rest she can get' she would say with a half smile. Only one other entered, but she wasn't a native of the town ether.
Luckly this woman didn't need a lot of money it seemed, she was able to get by simply doing odd jobs around the community. She took them on without a fuss....
After all, she was her sister's sibling. ------
The door opened then closed, then locked. Her usual combat attire still dawned her body, with Mog resting in now form on her back. How did he even get rest like that? Moogle secret? Maybe he just got tired out when she actually used the bow? ...why was she trying to figure out the inner workings of moogle transformation? She sighed. The town had wanted a hunter this time. Clealry she was one right? She had the bow after all...
"Are their really no teaching positions open yet....? Hunting creatures is Noel's thing..."
But she still got it done. Took down the target and brought it back to the man who made the request. While also managing to get quite the surprised looks from the crowd.
"You'd think they had never seen someone hunt a Chocobo before. Then again it was that red type... I could swear I hear Rock in my head whenever those things let loose"
*Shut up*
..? That voice was familiar. No she must have been remembering their younger years. Light was such a great older sister but... Their were a few times Serah got on her nerves when she was still a kid she was sure. Right? What else could it be after all Lightining was still...
The sound of a window shutting stunned her. She was the only one here. Who? A glance towards the perpetuating item gave her the answer she wanted. There, sitting up with a hand on the window... Was Lightining. Of course she had been in that spot for a while now. The key difference was she had been LAYING in the bed. She had also very much not been awake. Now she was and...
"Lightining!"
Mog had to return to moogle form, lest an excited Serah accendently toss her across the room. For now he floated there, keen on giving the sisters their moment-a small smile playing on the moogles lips.
Serah herself wasted no time in pulling her tired sister into her embrace, arms tight around her.
"Your awake... I mean of course you are! I'm... I... Sis I... I missed you..."
It had been a couple weeks sense she Noel and Fang expelled the force controlling her sister. It had been so close... But Light survived with the tiniest of pulses. Since then the three helped find a place for the two and Serah had taken care of her from then on, she had insisted on it. Their had been visits from a love bird. Love dragon? Warrior? But for the most part it was just them.
But lost in the moment she had forgotten a vital thing-her sister was still recovering. She pulled back just a bit, a look of worry on her face as she examined her. She still had a long way to go... But she was awake now. That was the most important thing. But now also came the hardest part:getting her to KEEP resting. Still.. she coudnt help but smile, and giggle. She was back-she was really back.
"I swear your durability is amazing. Even better than a Behemoth! At this point I'm convinced you could will yourself to regenerate if any of you was left!"
Her smile became more somber. This moment... It made it all worth it. To see her sister awake once more.

Serah stared at the man looking down upon her for a moment, a look of shock on her face as the one fruit she had picked up fell from her hand due to her focus turning completly to him.
N...Noel?!"
The words stuttered out as she stumbled about in an attempt to get to her feet, before finally taking his hand to help her up. This was a lot to process! How had he gotten here? Was it the same way she and her sister had? When had he arrived? It was clear to her not everyone had come to this place at the same time. Her sister for one had obviosly been here far longer than her, maybe Fang to. So was it the same for Noel? Or had he arrived more recently like her?
Her biggest concern however was if her friend was in good health. She didn't want anyone else to suffer as Lightining had-truthfully she didn't want her friends to suffer at all. They deserved nothing more than peaceful lives.
But fate was cruel.
Upon his show of concern she finally snapped herself out of her worries and gave an akward laugh. This was just like the start of their previous journey together wasnt it? The well trained hunter helping her as she stumbled with her new weapon. Said gunblade soon being picked up and placed back in her makeshift satchel.
"Oh yeah, don't worry about me! I'm just out doing some errands, goods for me and Light and stuff but..."
Her expressions had gone from shocked, to happy-and now to worried, even sad. As happy as she was to see Noel his precense here meant another person had been torn from that brave new world, their home. Did that mean Yeul was here to? Or had he been torn from her once more? She coudn't help but wonder, coudn't help but worry about him. Worried hands came to her hips, worried eyes continued to take in the fact her friend was here.
"Noel... How did you get here...?"
She took a final look around them, looking for any sign of the former seeress one more time before sighing in defeat.

Serah was happy. For the first time since she came to be in this world a truly calm smile remained on her face. Lighting... Her sister was safe. She was beaten and burned... But she was alive. She rested now, back in one of the abandoned houses they held up in. She was still uncouious when she left, but she had a heart beat. As much as it pained her to leave her sister alone for even a moment while she was like this, she had things she had to do. Two specific things. The most important was the restocking of supplies to continue caring for Light-those she could get from the nearby city. But the other?
She had to find a safe place to put away Light's Gunblade.
This whole ordeal was certain to leave Lightining frazzled, whether she admitted it or not. She knew her sister. If this weapon was around and she saw danger...she would leap at it, whether she was healthy or not. Serah coudn't have that. For once she would protect her sister. This time she would be there to hold and care for her, even as she desired it herself. She would be strong, like Lightining always was.
Across one arm was a satchel containing what herbs and other supplies she had already gathered. Around the other was a makshift sheath holding her sister's blade over her shoulder. When she thought about it, she supposed Light wasn't alone. Mog was still there watching over her. It took so much convincing to get him to stay... But someone had to. Mog had been worried about her going out without him, essenally defensless but... She wasn't. She could use her magic and besides....
She was sure she could make do with the Gunblade if she had to! ...would her sister mind?
She probaly looked a weird sight like this though. Supplies on one arm and weapon over the other. She coudn't really say she minded any stares she got however-she would keep her focus. Now... Where to take it..? Fang? Noctis?.
She wished Snow was here, he could probaly figured something out. He always did! Knowing him he'd probaly go on a journey to find something to wake Light to, despite her just needing rest now. He was so brave... She loved that about him-but he was hard headed to! Once he set his mind to something you'd be hard pressed to ever stop him.
She missed him... It seemed like the only people from her world that came here were Fang and her sister. On one hand glad she was glad they wearn't being pulled in... But it got lonely. Not having Snow to lean on, or a friend like Noel or Hope to talk to.
She came to a stop at a nearby tree, its fruit high up. Those would he good for her and Light, juicy and filling! But... Normaly she'd toss mog up there so the little moogle could grab them. But it was just her here... Oh! That was it! Using it coudn't be THAT hard right?
A bit of fiddling here
A little trial and error there.
And the next thing a passerby would see is Serah firing from her Sister's gunblade and the resulting more than needed blast ripping through several of the fruits. Her inexperience with the weapon caused her to fall on her butt...
...and the fruits to fall PLOP right on top of her.

Her body might as well have been on auto pilot. She was numb to everything but the people walking beside her, the sister she didn't want to let go and the sky that served as their backdrop. Dad... Mom... Sister... Who would be left? Her? No... No she coudn't go! She wasn't ready. She thought she had steeled her heart, that she could be strong like Lightining, if it was for her. But... She coudn't. Not this far... She didn't want to say good bye again! Her grip tightned in response to her feelings. She could feel that small spark in her. That meant she was still in there. She wasn't gone yet.
Your the strongest person I know... Lightining, one more time, just one more miracle...
So many things coudn't be done without her. so many things woudn't be the same. How could she face mom's grave? How could she face Snow, knowing she failed their budding family? Snow.... How could their wedding happen without Lightining? Ever since Snow proposed to her their was only one person she could picture giving her away. She coudn't imagine it any other way. She coudn't imagine a life where her big sister was gone.
The world still needs you... I still need you
Fang's words stirred her, and she nodded her approval to her choice of resting area. It wss beutiful... Perfect for Light.. as Fang sat herself down with Lighting Serah did the same sitting beside her. Her grip on her sister's never faultering. She woudn't let go, no matter what.
One of the few things she was selfish about, someone she didn't want to let go. Wrong but right. Lightining more than anyone deserved peace, to be able finally sleep. After everything she had done, all the souls she saved. But she coudn't bring herself to accept it. She coudn't bring herself to accept losing the last family she had, the closest family she had. This wasn't like before. This wasn't a distortion by the Goddess. This was for real.
"Sister...."
Sister's hand held tight she looked over her, then to the stars above them both. Lightining... It happened again. She was ripped from everyone and forced to serve some twisted purpose. This time by some gross disgusting creature. If she ever found who did this... Who put this thing in her....
They WOULD pay
Lightining deserved to have a normal life. She deserved to just stay at home and enjoy herself. She had saved enough, protected enough. She would find Snow, he was a hero after all-he could make sure everything stayed safe wherever they were. He could do anything after all. But Lightining... Peace. That was what she deserved for so long... She wanted her to have it.
"Like before... Just you... Me... Snow... Even Fang!"
She offered a gentle smile to her friend, as well as one to Noctis. Of course she would have offered him the same but... She didn't want to force anything upon him. He was a dear friend, even more so after everything he had done. He would always be welcome in her eyes.
"We can find a nice place... A peaceful place... No worries... We can be happy, together, sis... Just rest, I love you"
Come home, be safe, and be at peace. Thats all she wanted.

"Thank.... Noctis.... I..."
She didn't know what to tell him. She wanted to thank him. For doing what she coudn't. For abiding her sister's wish when she coudn't bring herself to do so. But... it didn't seem right, thank you didn't feel right here. Her eyes never left her sister's, she intended to watch her till the very last second. To be woth her for ad long as she could. But their were so many things they hadn't been able to do. So much of this world she hadn't seen with her. In that moment she didn't care that they were stranded om someone unknown plain. She cared that she coudn't experince it with her. She coudn't live this nee life with her sister. She coudn't.... Coudn't... Because of...
"You....
The parasite finally lept from her sister's body. The way it so despretly tried to to escape, the way it seemed to beg for life. It might have been the first time Serah felt cold, one of the only times she truly hated something. The only time she felt this way. For this coward of a cresture that caused so much pain, so much hurt to her sister, to her? Their was only one fate for it.
Happy endings would not come to those like it.
Fang came to it first. She smashed it with her foot and left it be, she returned her friends nod but could not go back just yet. It was rare that rage welled itself deep in the youngest Farron sister. But this creature, now so broken... sparked it withen her.
"Your done now... This is the end"
From her satchel she drew a familar hunting knife. Mog was to tired, so she would do it herself. The life this thing was given was one it wasted. Controlling another, forcing her sister to its will. In the end that was it's biggest mistake. This was the result-everything it deserved. So many creatures and people she had seen. Yet this was only one she could say without hesitation didn't deserve the life it was given.
"You wasted it, you'll never EVER get another one!"
The knife came down hard on the broken creature. Once, twisted into the creature. The expression on the younger sister so forign, even wrong on her face. She could not feel for this thing. Any thought of it brought only anger to her being. Her face was cold, cold and expressionless as the creature finally became nothing.
For a moment she simply stood there, intent on watching it fade from this world for it's evil. That was until Fang's words roused her from her state of rage. Anger was replaced once more with the feeling of sadness as she put the knife away, despair in her heart. But also love. Fang was right. Her sister deserved the best. She was a hero, she always had been. For her even before they had become adults. Two heros were etched in her heart. The man she loved...
And her sister so dear.
"Yes, let's... The best"
A light smile crossed her face, the best she could manage right now. Fang carried her sister and Serah followed right at her side, her hand intertwined with her sisters as they made their way to the end. So final... So wrong...
A pulse
Faint, weak but there. She had to see it twice before she knew she wasn't making herself see it. It took no more than that for her to begin pooling whatever she had left into Lightining as they walked. Healing light went from her palm to her sister's, all she could do and still walk. A sister's last hope, her last hope.
"Come home sis.. I know you can, defying fate is what we do right?"

A young girl, no older than twelve ran through the facility. Anyone who could see her face could see how frantic she was. 'Food food... If I just find the right thing' again and again that was what she muttered to herself as she ran past the other residents. But no food she found gave her that feeling. No food told her things were going to be ok. Mother woudn"t wake up. Why woudn't she wake up? Did she do something bad? She was sorry! She could be better... She woudn't run in the halls at home!
Please just... Wake up
"N..no.. sis.... Lightining.. Claire... Please I... I still need you"
She didn't want to let go. She didn't want to say goodbye. As much as they both tried to comfort her.. she coudn't do it! She built all the determanation she could for this fight. She thought she could do whatever needed to he done.... But she was prepared to save her sister not end her! She tried to rub the tears away. Tried to abide her sister's last request and Fang's words so true. But she she coudn't stop this stream from coming out. She coudn't stop the hurt she felt. How was this fair?! How was this right?! She saved everyone. She saved the world. Her big sister... Please.
She didn't want to be alone.
She pushed back against Fang's hold in vain. She wasn't going anywhere. Their was no way out. Again. Again their was nothing she could do.
"You don't understand! We.... All we..!"
A girl, not much older than her plopped down by her side. Her older sister. She tried to hide it but she was just as distraught as her.
'Why... Why won't she wake up?'
'She just needs... A lot of rest'
It hurt so much. This feeling in her chest.. Even then she knew. She didn't understand but she knew their mom wasn't going to wake back up.
'It's ok Serah, It'll all be ok'
A comforting hand brought her to her sister's shoulder. Her shirt now absorbing the tears from her eyes.
'Claire... You won't ever have to sleep like that right..?'
A pause followed, her sister looked away in thought, then nodded her agreement.
'No Serah, from here on it's just the two of us... All we have..."
"All we have.... is each other"
The only family she had left. She didn't want to say goodbye again. She didn't want to be alone without her sister... Not again. She didn't want that parasite to control her ether but... Why was this the only option? Why. Why did she have to...
'Promise..?'
'Promise'
"Your strong enough, I know it"
No. Not for this. She could never be strong enough to say those words. To say goodbye to the last threads she had left. She didn't want to. She wanted her her big sister. She didn't want her to go see mother yet.
What did I say about tears, hm?
"I'm sorry..."
It was the last thing Lighting needed but it was all she could bring out. She did her best to dry her tears. Fang was right but.. she coudn't douse them completly. She offered a weak smile to her sister. She truly was glad she was in control of herself again. But this ending wasn't a happy one.
I can leave as myself, and I've you three to thank for that
So final, so wrong. She didn't deserve this. That monster inside her deserved it all! But to get it out...
"Say... Hello to mother for me..."
She didn't want to say goodbye. But she had to. She had to for her sister. The parasite would come back otherwise... Then she would only have to hurt her again. She paused, she tried to think of something... Anything she could say. How do you say goodbye to your sister? How do you say goodbye to the person who was always there? How could she? All she could she could manage to choke out was...

It was her. Claire, Lighting, Light. Her sister-the only family she had left. The tone left no doubt in her mind. Their was no faking Lightining. Her legs buckled and she fell to her knees right there in front of her. As strong as she had tried to be during the tears now threatned to break free from her eyes freely. She coudn't find the words to say. How could she? The feeling in her heart wasn't one she could describe. She was back. Her older sister. The last constant in her life. The one she knew always looked over her.
"Sis...."
Memories ran rampit through her mind. Everything they had been through. Lightining picking her up after their parents died raising her.. teaching her... She tought her to cook, to study. She held a child close through storms and the worst of nightmares.
Lightining... Her sister.
She was here! She was back, they did it! Joy ran through her and on instinct she wrapped her arms around her gently, careful to avoid the weapons lodged into her She had to feel it again, the love of her sister. So long... She thought she would lose it forever. She only did so a moment before letting go. She was sure she wasn't in the best of conditions right now.
"I'm... I'm not dreaming right, your really here? Your really you..."
Hearing Fang brought her out of her daze, the young woman clasping her hands together and nodding firmly in agreement. Light had taken a lot of damage during this after all. She would need a lot of care and rest, even if she didn't want to. 'Meanie Miss Farron' would just have to make sure she did!
"Thats right! We'll just get these things out and heal you right...."
"Wait Kupo"
She heard the pained voice of Mog behind her, having transformed back to his natural state. serah turned her head back in confusion. What was wrong? They did it! They freed Lighting from that horrible thing. They did! They....
"It's still in her Kupo. It... Seems like the only way to free her, to get rid of the bug kupo is to...."
"No!"
Her voice laced with pain. Her heart all but shattered at the moogles words. No she was awake... It was fine now. They could stop here and just find another way.
"No thats... Wrong it has to be!"
Tears now came freely with hands trembling on the ground beneath. She had returned to a position on her knees, and looked back up to her sister. Looking for something, anything to tell her they didnt have to do it. That their was another way out of this. Her eyes, her face, her mouth. Something. A smile, a wink, words to make it right!
Something, anything to tell her the knife trembling in her pocket was just taking up space.

Noctis was in trouble. Noctis was a friend, an ally of her sister's. He was helping them both. Whatever power he had left him in a defensless state however, and the parasite was going to use her sister's body to take advantage of it. Or she would have if not for Fang's interference. Serah relaxed a little knowing that at least in that moment Noct woudn't be mauled. But he was far from safe. Right now they were all to close risk using her bow... She didn't want to hit Fang while she was pinning her sister down in that spot. A signal to Mog saw Starseeker shift to it's bladed form. She wasn't anywhere near Fang or Light's ability in melee but.... She had an idea.
Her gaze turned to the lance in her sister's side, to the rock just behind her. Every strike agaisnt her sister hurt. It pained her. But she knew that it is what Lighting would want. She knew that as much as it pained her and her sister she was doing the right thing. The only chance to use it was now, as the corrupted being sought to remove and possibly take advantage of the weapon. But she woudn't allow that! Starseeker held firm in one hand she ran foward, trying to take advantage of the focus the creature must have elsewhere. It hurt, the thought of harming her sister like this brought stray tears even as she ran. Her body shook from more than her pace. She considered changing course, considered missing her shot and holding Light in place for everyone instead. She was better at the sacrifice right? Maybe it would awaken her sister and...
Serah!
"I'm sorry!"
Sorry for hestiating in her conviction. Sorry for every blow upon her sister. Sorry for everytime her sister had to sacrfice for her. This time she needed to swallow that. Swallow the pain like Lighting did. She took a deep breath as her hand gripped the lance just ahead of the bug and pushed hard, right into the stone to pin her down. She remained firm as she adjusted her form. Snow had his fist... A strong hand to knock the sense into people. Her hands wearn't strong like that. She coudn't bring herself yet to try and pierce Light with her blade.... The pain was to much. So instead...
Her leg cocked back and she struck out with a kick right across her sister's face!
Post by Serah Farron on Jun 28, 2019 7:43:18 GMT -6
Serah stood tall, she woudn't let the monster's words get to her. Lightining was in there. Fang and Noctis were by her side. Noctis gave a powerful blow, but it tired him. She would have to helo cover him. She kept her bow strung as the faker charged her. She didn't move, didn't flinch. Why? It was simple really, they were all a team. Working together. Why she didn't move... It was because Fang protected her, Fang took the blow that gave her the opening she needed. Thanks to her much of the electric attack was weakned, thanks to her Lightining was knocked back away from them. She gave a nod to Fang, thankful for her assitence.
"Of course I came! So many times... Lightining has been the one to help me... This time, I'll return the favor"
She would try to catch the false Lightining with a volley of arrows while she was still falling back, before charging a spell to her left hand. She glared at her, determanation flared in her eyes. She would fufill her sister's wish. She would bring her home. Once, just once things were going to go right. She would make sure of it!
"I'm going to show you why it's not smart to mess with the Farron sisters, with us or any of our friends!"
Her hand flung foward as the spell Firaga shot from her fingertips, a large ball of flame that went straght for her possesed sister. Flames to represent her determination. She knew it's main weakness of course, it wasn't fire. But that wasn't a skill she could just fire off like normal magic. She needed the right time, the right moment to make the most of it. Her hands gripped her bow as she returned to positon, keepong a close eye on her sister's movements.
Snow was her hero, Lightining was everyone's hero. But who wss hers? Well... She'd never admit it, not in a million years but... This time it was going to be them. They would bring her home. Another arrow shot where Lightining moved. Fluid, on repeat. Her goal was to keep her down so ahe could't go to wild. So that they could focus their attacks one after the other. If she got a clear enough shot... Then she would use her own. A pattern formed, almost rythmic in it's movements. Arrows followed the possesed hero back to back. Well unless she back back for the source of course.
They had been through so much. Together... Apart. She was freed from her fate, from her prison once thanks to Lightining, thanks to Snow and everyone else. That's why...
"Sis this time... I'll free you! So come at me bug, your no better than one of my ill behaved students! you won't win because..."
A deep breath, arrows rang out one more.
"You don't know a sister's love, the love of a family and friends... and you never will!"
