Hell, that was annoying. How could the tiniest sound in perfect time and pattern be so rage-inducing and make the front of your head feel like someone had whacked it with a steel bar? The more it pulled her from sleep, the more everything hurt. Couldn't she just fall back under? Sleep longer?
Drip. Drip. Drip.
Apparently not. The damned droplets just wouldn't shut the hell up. A single eye opened, winced and wrinkled, and immediately caused her to groan unhappily at the light in the small room from a singular window. It was warm, orange. Probably the telltale signs of either an early morning or soon-to-be evening. She didn't want to get up yet, shutting her eye again to try and rest for-
Drip. Drip. Dr-
"Shut up," she grumbled through tense, tired lips beneath her breath, mind forced awake by the honed-in irritation of whatever the noise was. Arms slowly bent beneath the heavy covers that layered on top of her, palms pressing into the thin mattress and pushing herself up with a less-than-pleased grumble. The single eye opened again and adjusted quicker to the light before her other followed suit. She took a moment to look across the room; plain, a single chair, a dresser, this bed, a door and a window which was opened a few inches for fresh air.
It must've been raining earlier- the culprit of the annoying dripping pooled up beneath the open pane to drop down on the wood beneath it. Curling forward, she hissed at the tightness and ache in her gut but continued to reach for the window until the tip of her fingers curled around the top of its edge enough to pull it down, shutting it. Great... That was one thing out of the way. Didn't know where she was, why everything hurt, or what the hell had happened, but at least she wasn't about to lose her sanity to an open window anymore.

Talk went about the town, Of a young pink haired woman. She had the same routine everyday-she came into town, got what supplies she needed and went home to care for whoever was in the little building she rented out. If asked she would answer with it being her sister. But other than Serah herself no one else in town had seen this sister. The girl in fact made a point of not accepting visitors at this point 'She needs all the rest she can get' she would say with a half smile. Only one other entered, but she wasn't a native of the town ether.
Luckly this woman didn't need a lot of money it seemed, she was able to get by simply doing odd jobs around the community. She took them on without a fuss....
After all, she was her sister's sibling. ------
The door opened then closed, then locked. Her usual combat attire still dawned her body, with Mog resting in now form on her back. How did he even get rest like that? Moogle secret? Maybe he just got tired out when she actually used the bow? ...why was she trying to figure out the inner workings of moogle transformation? She sighed. The town had wanted a hunter this time. Clealry she was one right? She had the bow after all...
"Are their really no teaching positions open yet....? Hunting creatures is Noel's thing..."
But she still got it done. Took down the target and brought it back to the man who made the request. While also managing to get quite the surprised looks from the crowd.
"You'd think they had never seen someone hunt a Chocobo before. Then again it was that red type... I could swear I hear Rock in my head whenever those things let loose"
*Shut up*
..? That voice was familiar. No she must have been remembering their younger years. Light was such a great older sister but... Their were a few times Serah got on her nerves when she was still a kid she was sure. Right? What else could it be after all Lightining was still...
The sound of a window shutting stunned her. She was the only one here. Who? A glance towards the perpetuating item gave her the answer she wanted. There, sitting up with a hand on the window... Was Lightining. Of course she had been in that spot for a while now. The key difference was she had been LAYING in the bed. She had also very much not been awake. Now she was and...
"Lightining!"
Mog had to return to moogle form, lest an excited Serah accendently toss her across the room. For now he floated there, keen on giving the sisters their moment-a small smile playing on the moogles lips.
Serah herself wasted no time in pulling her tired sister into her embrace, arms tight around her.
"Your awake... I mean of course you are! I'm... I... Sis I... I missed you..."
It had been a couple weeks sense she Noel and Fang expelled the force controlling her sister. It had been so close... But Light survived with the tiniest of pulses. Since then the three helped find a place for the two and Serah had taken care of her from then on, she had insisted on it. Their had been visits from a love bird. Love dragon? Warrior? But for the most part it was just them.
But lost in the moment she had forgotten a vital thing-her sister was still recovering. She pulled back just a bit, a look of worry on her face as she examined her. She still had a long way to go... But she was awake now. That was the most important thing. But now also came the hardest part:getting her to KEEP resting. Still.. she coudnt help but smile, and giggle. She was back-she was really back.
"I swear your durability is amazing. Even better than a Behemoth! At this point I'm convinced you could will yourself to regenerate if any of you was left!"
Her smile became more somber. This moment... It made it all worth it. To see her sister awake once more.
After having stretched to reach the window, she slumped somewhat into herself, still sitting up but conscious of the ache in her stomach. That was going to get real annoying real fast. A tension in her lips had them forming a minor scrunch, the hand that'd just left the window reaching down to try and feel around the acute soreness between her abdomen and side. Careful presses with the pads of her fingers revealed its size and depth. It wasn't too terrible now - but it had to have been a time ago with how far the ache went.
"Lightning!" A flash of moogle-magic light and the call had her jumping a little only to see the pinkette rushing from a shadowed corner of the room. Though it'd feel plenty natural to be on her guard and knock the rusher away, merely the sight of her kept her sitting still and simply waiting to be attacked with whatever the girl would throw at her. The weapon of choice seemed to be a little-too-tight embrace. "Nm-!" a light, but held-back grunt escaped her as she weakly clenched her teeth, arms finding some habit in lifting to return the hold; albeit much softer. "You're awake... I mean of course you are! I'm... I... Sis I... I missed you..."
It hit her like a train, the images and memories from cleaning scraped knees to shoving bullies in secondary school. There was more. Shopping for groceries in the market, taking the speed-rail to the hospital each morning, saying goodbye to a crystal tear, watching over a fight against time... "Serah," the word sounded plain, but it spoke volumes. Her chin had tucked over the girl's slender shoulder, eyes looking across the room behind her to the happy, fluttering moogle that was content to watch the pair. Mog, right-? The lucky charm had kept her safe after all...
The general soreness of her body was grateful that the girl's grip loosened, letting out an exhale of relief and slumping slightly again. Serah's light-hearted laughter filled the room and Lightning was faced with the purity of her smile. That's when everything that didn't make sense didn't bother her so much anymore. "I'm back..." cyan eyes fell somewhere lower without focus, more speaking to herself than her sister. The blurred expression of bafflement melted away, replaced by something solid and accepting. "Right." A short and curt nod had her eyes lifting again, the faintest hint of a smile playing on one side of her lips. "I'll take a shot in the dark and say I've got some catching up to do."

She said her name. For most it would be such a simply gesture, a sibling calling your name. But for Serah it was different. After Fal'ce, after trips through time... And most of all because of this parasite she learned to cherish hearing such simple things. After all their had always been the chance she woudnt here it again.
"Sorry, I know your still recovering... I suppose I got overexcited... You've been out for weeks"
Emotions ran wild in her body. For weeks now she had attended to her older sister. For weeks she maintained her grudge against whatever had made it come to this. If it was the parasite alone then she was glad she destroyed it. She was glad she hurt it. She could let a lot of things go but... Not hurting and controlling her loved ones, not twisting them to things they'd never do. The memory caused her to reach for the knife, still held at her side briefly by reflex. A sigh escaped her lips-and she returned her full attention to Lightining. She shouldn't let that creature sully this wonderful moment.
"I've been wondering... I don't know how aware you were while that... thing had a hold on you, or how long... But I'll try to fill in what I can sus. Right now were in a place called Provo"
Her sister was hurt, it would take her time to recover. But what was important was that she was here. She was herself again, even if hazy on things. She had to admit it felt nice being able to in some way repay her for everything she had done. Behind them Mog's head bobbed down at Light's gaze, confirmation he had continued to do what had been asked of him.
"Oh! Are you hungry? I think we still have some leftovers from what me and Mog ate last night"
She would have offered to make something fresh but even if she had been out cold the whole time it had still been two weeks since Lightining had properly eaten. She HAD to be hungry, making her wait longer just woudn't do.
"Of course I'll make something fresh later, I am the cook put of us after all~"
A smile crossed her face as she teased her older sibling. It was true- Her sister was a warrior, not a cook. Excusing herself she took a moment to go and do just that-getting to work heating a plate of vegetables and meat. While she did so Mog took the chance to float around the bed Lightining sat on.
"Kupo! Serah would make a great medic Kupo! She's attended to you ever sense that woeful clash, Kupo. Kept you Warm... Clean and as comfortable as she could Kupo!"
Serah came back with a small tray containing the leftovers and put them on a stool beside her. If she didn't want them now well... They would still be there for later. Serah then took a sitting position once more by her sister. Her previous smile quickly shifting to one of concern.
"So how are you feeling? I know it must still be sore.... Your still gonna be rough for a while I think after.... All that"
Though she was grateful they were able to save her, that entire conflcit was not a happy memory for her outside the ending. Having to fight her sister, twisted to that bugs ends. To have to almost end her in order to save her.... It wasn't a memory she was eager to relive in her head if she could avoid it.
""Weeks?" Well, the soreness made sense now. "No wonder I'm stiff as a board," an arm carefully lifted away, the shoulder giving a slow roll to try and regain some range of motion from lack of use. The fluttering moogle hovered closer, giving the awakened warrior a nod of affirmation between the two of them - he had indeed completed his task of keeping Serah safe. A similar, more muted nod was given in return. "I've been wondering... I don't know how aware you were while that... thing had a hold on you, or how long..."
Lightning's head turned back to the girl sitting before her as she thought on the inquiry. It was noisy. Not blurry, but distorted, as if trying to remember some grainy video that she'd seen once upon a time. If she focused hard enough, she could make sense of most of the images. But did she want to?... "Right now were in a place called Provo." If she had time to form a few questions, maybe she would've, but in seconds her sister went from information to worrying about hunger and skipped away to go on care-taking. It left the older of the pair giving a brief series of blinks before an amused, light breath huffed out of her nose and accompanied a headshake.
"Kupo! Serah would make a great medic Kupo! She's attended to you ever sense that woeful clash, Kupo. Kept you Warm... Clean and as comfortable as she could Kupo!" "Sounds like she's had her work cut out for her. Makes you two a fitting team; both the 'never judge a book by its cover' type," a hand lifted, rubbing tiredly at the muscles along her face. When it dropped back down to her lap, the opposite reached out towards the moogle and gave a gentle pat against his head (careful to avoid the pom, of course). "Thanks." The 'for taking care of her' and the million other endings that could've tagged onto the end were left unspoken, but known.
Not long after did her 'medic' return with a tray full of deliciously-looking food and another question of worry. "I think I can say with confidence that I don't feel like going for a run anytime soon," a tiny wince in her face showed as she scooted herself back in the bed in order to sit up against the wall. "Good to see you back into cooking," she dipped her head towards the plate, one arm reaching behind her to situate the pillow a little better.

"Stiff as a plank, hey but at least your clean sis!"
Same old Lightining. She was glad to see the same person she had always known. Parental Lightining, Calm Lightining. She truely was like her nickname in that regard-the calm before the storm. Even as beat up as a she was now? Sarah could see her rising up to fight once more. She always had and, as far as she was concerned always would if if it was needed of her.
But not right now Serah would not have her sister pushing herself in any direction until she was healed.
While the younger sister was off preparing the leftovers Mog gave a cheerful spin at Light's words.
"Of course Kupo! Shes grown a lot Kupo, but you know that... Kupo, though.. maybe she'll get some rest now..."
In the weeks she was taking care of her older sister Serah had heavly neglected her own rest. Putting the care of Lightining far above her means. Though her chipper additude and general perplection made harder to immieiditly tell this was the case. It was true... knowing Lightining was ok would allow the younger Farron to rest proper at last.
'Of course Kupo"
It wasnt said with the same excited tone as usual, simply a calm confirmation with the only cheer coming from Light's pat. The moogle was originally sent by Lightining after all, a protective charm for her sister. They had become in his mind the greatest of partners as a result. He was proud to have kept Serah safe. But ya know...
He was still going to beat Light and Odin one day~
After the exchange Serah would in fact soon return with the promised, even with it being leftovers it was still her cooking after all! So it was very well prepared-Serah having taken the time to properly warm the meats and veggies, doing what she could to make them taste more fresh.
"If you tried I'd have to put you in timeout like one of my students~"
A teasing wink followed her words as she set a tray down on her sister's lap. The food itself wasnt fancy, but it was well prepared. Hamburger with a mix of veggies on the side-with a tea.
Unable to resist the opportunity of her sister's comment however Serah gave a wide playful grin, hands crossed behind her back as she made her statement.
At least one of them could see Lightning 'rising up to fight once more'. It wasn't so with the elder sibling. Her eyes had scanned the corners of the room habitually for any long, thin object propped up against a wall or piece of furniture - her sword - but she found none. It wasn't a conscious glance, but there was a piece of her that was glad not to find it. For now, that seemed best. There wasn't any point in trying to remember everything clearly right now, but at some point it'd come... For the first time ever, the thought of taking up arms left a vile taste in her mouth.
"Of course Kupo! Shes grown a lot Kupo, but you know that... Kupo, though.. maybe she'll get some rest now...""Yeah," the rosette's chin dipped to agree with the moogle's best wishes. "We'll both have to make sure of that, won't we?" For now though, the important task at hand was getting some damned sustenance and taking stock of exactly how much Serah was pushing herself. Without a shadow of a doubt, Lightning knew it'd be too much, it was just a matter of how far that stretched and how much she could get away with pushing her to slow things down before running into stubbornness. Unfortunately for her, they'd both inherited that trait.
"Well we coudn't leave it to you sis!" "Safe choice." Another dry tease. It was nice to feel so... comfortable. She wasn't worried about what to say, how to act. Her respect for her sister's growing age and capability had helped them both return to a greater social understanding. It didn't make it any less painful to admit... Serah was strong. There was little she needed Lightning for, perfectly fine on her own. But, she'd sooner make another deal with Bhunivelze than stop watching over her. "Mmm," Lightning hummed at the first bite, already stabbing a few other veggies into the fork. Her chewing was slow and cautious but her appetite was healthy. "You better be eating too, not just watching me do it."
