This marks the visual era of Adventu 4.0, our 4th and by far best design we've had. 3.0 suited our needs for a very long time, but as things are evolving around the site (and all for the better thanks to all of you), it was time for a new, sleek change. Final Fantasy Adventu is a roleplaying forum inspired by the Final Fantasy series. With the smell of blood still lingering in the air, you’ve been tasked with searching the manor for clues and suspects. ”He was a scholar,” the butler claims. ”He would want his death solved and his work found. I’m afraid it will be lost to the house forever.”
He doesn’t know anything about the whereabouts of his master’s research nor does he have any leads on the murder. Someone must have wanted it for themselves. Someone in the house. Perhaps one of you.
The manor could be dangerous, he warns. The killer is still on the loose, and two guests have already been spirited away. You must stay in groups for your own protection. If you’re to stray, well, who knows what might happen?
Caius, Emma, and Emet-Selch are tasked with searching the ballroom for clues as to the recent events. The body of Jules de Lune is still untouched where it was found. A stab wound pierces his chest, leaking a puddle of still wet blood beneath him. One side of his face is burnt beyond recognition, trailing down his neck and under his suit. Nothing else can be ascertained without closer inspection.
The ballroom is a two-story marvel of high windows, marble floors, and a domed ceiling decorated with classical mosaic art. White pillars rise up to support the second story balcony which encircles the room’s outer ring. Set in the room’s center is a raised dais with a sparkling crystal hovering over its pedestal. While there was once glass protecting this crystal, it is now shattered on three sides.
The butler, Saal Lambert, hovers near the body, brow knit and muttering to himself. He appears to be deliberating what to do with the corpse and considers storing it in the wine cellar.
As the shock wears off, each of them notice something about themselves. The front of Caius’ shirt has been ripped. The flesh beneath is aggravated. Though he can’t tell any details of the damage without further inspection, it looks like a grievous wound that was healed quickly with curative magic. In a small pocket notebook, Emma finds a list of names in her own handwriting: ”Castillo: Handler, Giles: Muscle, Lambert: Head, Stein: ??” Emet-Selch has died within the last hour. His current body is slightly newer than his last.

Of course, it was too good to be true. But, why not? Part of trying to move on was experiencing new things, was it not? So, even though this screamed obvious trap, and a cliche (one he'd even indulged in himself in the past), he decided what harm could it do to go? He wasn't the only one there, anyway. But, weren't there others? Two others that had happened to go missing? Pity, that. Perhaps it was one of them that had done all of this. "Does anyone know who the two abductees were?" Likely were, these things didn't usually end well. He looked at their gathering, making small notes of what was off about them. And then, he felt it, a slightly strange thing that indicated this body was... fresher than it was supposed to be.
Ah, he'd died again. That's all, nothing to be worried about. To be honest, he wasn't too keen on having complete strangers discover his immortality, but alas, what could he do? So, then that meant that in the last hour before he lost full clarity on what had transpired, the murderer had struck again. Perhaps he was a witness, and the murderer sought to silence him? Oh, were they in for a surprise when he showed up again, completely okay. Would they try to strike him down again? Part of that sounded like a good time. Just more of him piling up throughout the mansion. A murder mystery was quite fun when there was no real tension involved. At least not for him. Immortality aside, he knew nothing about this person and furthermore, cared nothing about them. It was just an invitation to a good time, for what he was concerned. And he looked at the gathered crowd.
Welp, time to solve this mystery. His sight, a wonderful array of colors and hues, gave him one distinct advantage. A stab wound, so it was close contact, and that would have left some residual aether. He looked at the corpse for any, and then the weapon. He'd start small, perhaps, instead just looking to everyone in the room with him; perhaps he'd notice a match between them and the body. Of course, was he going to bring a match up? Oh ho ho, goodness, no. Where would be the fun in that? It was a murder mystery and just because he may have been curious, didn't mean he was simply going to give them all the answers. Of course, primitive logic at the moment would dictate it likely to be the man in some strange combination of modern and medieval, obviously wounded, but well, one never really knew.

Caius was in a really bad mood.
He and Celes had come here together, their first mission together since taking on Charon at the village. And for once, Caius finally felt comfortable around his Dragonblades partner again. They were actually working! Actually going to be doing things, and possibly stabbing things! Sure, there was no guarantee they would be stabbing things, but something this big, this close to the Headstone Forest? It was the main reason they'd accepted the invitation. It was too suspicious. Sure the Masquerade ended up not hurting anything but their feelings, but this close to the forest, it was worth a look. So for once, Caius felt like he was in his element. They didn't have to talk about awkward things like their feelings! They could talk about what might be inside the manor, or what they might have to stab! Fun stuff like that. That, he could do.
One problem. It was near the Headstone Forest, period. Which put him in a bad mood by default that would have gone completely sour had Celes not been there. She kept his spirits up pretty easily when they weren't arguing over feelings or who said what to strangers. So that was a problem but not gamebreaking.
Then he couldn't remember what had happened midway through dinner. He regained his vision and suddenly there was a murder. Okay, the memory thing was frustrating, and the murder was terrible, but they hadn't exactly been expecting a picnic. But then came the actual problem.
Celes was gone.
And now he was understandably in a seriously bad mood. Also the pirate was gone too, because they were here for some reason too, and while he and the pirate were still on uncertain terms, he did want to like them. He couldn't find a reason to if they were dead. Also Yuna liked him. So he kind of had to find him for Yuna's sake too. Either way, not Caius' best day. No Celes, no Vordun, no Dragonblades, the Headstone Forest, spooky house (Which provoked its own set of memories he did not want to revisit), memories of the past hour not working, and his new shirt was damaged.
Wait, why was his shirt damaged? It was ripped pretty bad. Looking down, Caius realized the exposed skin looked like it had been put back together with a really strong curative spell. It was still fairly sore and he felt like he'd been hit by a truck, but the brunt of the damage had been healed. Judging by the rip, and the indents in his skin from what was left before it had been put back together, he could at least tell it was likely a Curaga spell that put him back to normal. Her work, most likely. While he couldn't remember what had happened, one thing was clear. He'd been attacked, injured pretty badly, his partner had most likely ensured he was safe before her disappearance. Did she take off after the killer? That sounded like Celes. But why was he not there with her? While she could take care of herself just fine, they were stronger as a duo. If he hadn't come back and he couldn't hear fighting or spells being slung... This killer must be strong.
The thought of a strong killer unnerved him. Where was Celes? Why couldn't he find her, or hear her? He couldn't even feel vibrations in the floor or ceiling or walls that might lead him to a battle. It made him mad. He couldn't stand not knowing. He had to keep telling himself she was gonna be ok. She's Celes. She can take care of herself. She doesn't need protecting.
But it wasn't protecting he wanted to provide. He wanted to provide support. When they were on the field, that should be his priority. That was his damn job. And he couldn't do it. That was upsetting. He needed to find her before something happened. She was the last person he'd want to fight, but she wasn't invincible. If she had the upper hand, she would have been back by now with the killer's head. The silence was telling. The sooner he could provide support, the better.
The guy who spoke up was super shifty, but his question was valid. "Celes Chere, mercenary, general well-doer. Captain Faris, pirate, but doesn't seem the type to murder randoms in their houses" Caius answered curtly. Oho, Caius standing up for a pirate? That was a shock for the ages.
The crystal, sparkling as it is, catches his attention. It appears the protective casings were shattered...

ell, this had turned into quite the little party. An hour lost and a man dead. Frankly, Emma didn't care so much about the dead man as the lost time. She didn't enjoy losing blacking out and waking up to being a potential murderer. Her mission now was to find out who the culprit was and, if it was Cissnei or herself, either clear the blame or get the two of them away from there. She didn't care if she'd killed the man or if Cissnei had, her main priority was protecting the two of them above all else. Which made it aggravating when the butler assigned them to different groups. Perhaps splitting up would be helpful, but it made Emma more uneasy to be off with two strangers. Cissnei was the only one she could trust to have her back here.
Her group had been assigned the ballroom, and thus the scene of the crime itself. Well, that suited Emma just fine. This was where the real clues were. Her "team" had two others in it. Some emo guy and a generic knight wannabe. Lovely. She didn't know if either of these two had any capabilities for being a detective, but she at least was trained for investigation. Emo at least had the wherewithal to inquire about the two missing people. Knight rattled off details in response. He was pretty well informed.
"It's entirely possible they killed him and ran. Given there's both the knife and the burns, it looks like there could be more than one person who tried to kill him. And this isn't random. This is death with a purpose. So if the pirate had purpose, would he do it?" Emma asked. Frankly, she doubted it was either of them. There was something odd going on around here. Emma was just talking since she didn't know who to trust yet and needed to seem active. The Knight next inquired about the crystal that now resided in a broken container. Emma kept an ear out for the response, but noticed something in her pocket. It was a notebook. How odd, she didn't have that when she came in. She wrote notes in her phone under normal circumstances. Emma opened it up and found the writing on the first page. The writing looked like her own. It seemed the missing her from that hour had thought to take notes. Though the lack of detail suggested she hadn't been expecting to forget, or she was possibly in a hurry.
Then notes listed different people from the mansion in it. In fact, she knew of five people that were here, but only four were listed. With the names came a single word as a clue. 'Handler', 'Muscle, 'Head', and Unknown. Rowan Castilo was the Handler. What that meant was a mystery at the moment. Adrian Giles was the Muscle. Referring to someone as 'the muscle' usually implied they were the enforcer of a group. The lingering threat and violent follow through that accompanied gangs and such. The butler, Saal Lambert was listed as the Head. Again, this implied some sort of group with him as the leader. He had been the one taking charge of everything so far, directing the different groups that he had hand picked himself. Perhaps separating Emma from Cissnei had been intentional? The last note labeled Susan Stein as a mystery. Given that the only other person of note from the mansion itself, the maid Primrose Ware, wasn't listed at all, this implied that Emma had discerned that Stein was in with this cabal, but she hadn't discovered her place yet. Very interesting. And the lack of having Ware not recorded didn't rule her out either. Emma looked over at the butler who was currently muttering to himself about moving the body. Her eyes taking in every detail of the man. Though if he was the Head, he wouldn't have had his hand in the actual murder. He'd put that on someone else. And since everyone was missing an hour, perhaps some kind of mind control took place making one of the guests the killer even if they weren't the masterminds. And why take this Celes and Faris? What purpose did they serve in all of this? Emma walked over to the man.
"Don't touch the crime scene until we've finished our investigation and the murderer is discovered. It could destroy clues." she told him. She would love some forensic equipment right now. Why couldn't the whole planet be as high tech as Sonora? And the butler wanting to move the body was very suspicious. Did he fear they'd find something? She didn't know what Emo was doing by the corpse, but hopefully it would be helpful. Then again, he could be causing problems himself if he started poking at the man. Was he trained for this line of work? She may have to look it over herself, but in the meantime she needed information.
"This work of your master's you mentioned, could you tell us more about it?" she asked. It currently seemed the most likely focal point for the murder. And the Butler seemed keen on having it found despite not seeming to be relevant to the situation. Odd he chose it as a priority when his boss was dead on the ground. You'd think such things wouldn't be on the mind until well after the case was dealt with.
The stab wound looks straightforward enough. It’s a single blow, impaling the man through the gut with the point of a sword that went straight through him. The surrounding clothes are still damp with the blood that stews around him in a puddle. The once-handsome Jules de Lune is now a travesty -- his eyes vacant, his glasses astrew, his mouth slightly open with a kind of horrified expression. One side of his face is burnt beyond recognition. This side of his face is twisted. His eye is barely a squint. His lips have been torn away.
The burn extends down his neck to his collarbone and perhaps farther. The jacket covering it is unburnt.
To Emet’s eyes, the body is a host of unnatural aether. What might have once been human is overtaken by strange magic and life force that is no longer mundane. There is time magic here and something monstrous. It’s as though it doesn’t quite obey the same laws as the surrounding aether. On closer inspection, everyone here has been touched by a similar magic. Time. It has something to do with ageless time.
The butler looks slightly overwhelmed by the questioning. He can’t seem to think straight.
”Don’t touch…?” he repeats. ”Of course, but…” He bites his lip. ”Should he stay as he is, rot will set in before morning.”
A sad truth when no authorities can be called to remove it.
”The cellar is cold. There are many who love him. I couldn’t bear to him in that condition.”
More questions. More answers struggling to be strung together. ”I was never made privy to the full extent of his research,” Lambert says. ”I only know that it was of utmost importance to him, and that it was enough that someone might want it for themselves.”
He pauses, thinking. ”It had to do with the crystal,” he says. He gestures at Caius. ”The moon crystal has been in his family for centuries. It’s said to even predate the great crystals of Torensten, excavated from the Wanderwood some time ago. Its power runs deep in this place. You can feel it, can’t you?”
Perhaps you feel a shiver of power. Perhaps not. The glass surrounding the case has not been scattered inwards, but outwards. Caius’ boots crunch on the shards.
”In the last year or so, Lambert continues. ”He became fascinated by dimensional rifts and otherworldly power. That was why he took an interest in all of you. He wanted to know how you came to be and the extent of your power. He thought it might benefit everyone involved.”
Lambert’s eyes catch on the crystal. For a moment, he seems enraptured by it. ”The glass is broken,” he says. ”Did someone mean to steal it…?”
He’s hardly finished the thought before the conversation is interrupted by a thunderous bang that could have been a crack of thunder if not for the wooden sound of flying splinters. It comes from the rafters of the ballroom, out of sight but certainly not out of hearing. There are voices afterwards, echoing and indistinct.
Lambert straightens, tense and alert. ”What in the world?” His eyebrows furrow, a fire in them. ”I must go,” he says. ”If someone is wrecking our house…” With that he turns, and tries to leave.

"Oh, that woman leading that group, what was it, the Dragonblades? I should get in touch with them at some point." He remarked offhandedly as he waited for his results. Oh. Ohhhh. Now, that was a very peculiar sight, one that definitely caught his interest. Someone involved in this mess had that ever rare power of Chronostasis. Well, that effectively ruled out the guests. He couldn't see anyone with that caliber of magic getting in. The Exarch in theory could have been possible of such magic, had he relied on the Crystal Tower. But without it here, he could not accomplish such a feat. But, well, perhaps a more mundane look would suffice. But what the butler had said enraptured him. Something on the nature of this world? The crystal, he supposed would do. Perhaps a bit of sleight of hand would suffice? The research was far more interesting to Hades, and well, perhaps that may require a more... hands on approach. This world had no lifestream, nothing to spirit away the spirit. And with such a violent death, well, perhaps it yet lingered.
Hades looked at the crystal. With the glass broken outward, well, the obvious possibility was there. So he simply looked at it. The genuine article should be emanating that kind of aether throughout the house if the butler was right. If not, then the actual crystal was likely gone, and the one there, a fake. He doubted it though. In fact, if that crystal was as old and powerful as the butler said. He gazed at it in thought for a moment. While it would be highly irregular, it would not be impossible. An outward force from the crystal, of immense power. There were other burns, he had died. No, that couldn't be the answer, could it?
Still, he'd offer some comfort to the poor man. "I can preserve him, don't you worry. I must ask before you leave; did he like these sort of stories? Mysteries such as this?" Because that, that was important. That last detail was arguably the most important of all.
Still, he looked back down to the body. "No burns to his clothes." But then it was all interrupted at something was destroyed up there by other members of the party. Most of the signatures he got from there, he didn't recognize. One of them, well, it turned out that Alexander's wife was a fan of these, too. Best not be recognized. Although, he never saw her on the First, so unless Alexander informed her of him, well, he should be safe. Still, why not hit the hornet's nest? "You know, it takes a special kind of uncultured savage to destroy such a lovely abode!" He shouted up to the balcony. Why not?
"Now, then. We don't want anyone swiping that crystal, now do we?" He looked to the crystal giving it a rather sharp smirk, maybe it would be good to test it, and with a snap of his fingers, attempted it to spirit it away with a dark flash into his own little pocket space. Even on the off chance it was a fake, a crystal was a handy place to store things like aether, or a certain plague he was containing. Surely, the crystal wouldn't mind, would it?

The generic knight wannabe meanwhile, was laser focused on the task at hand with one goal in mind. Figure out who the killer was and find Celes quickly by doing so. What Caius could identify right away was that this was neither his or Celes’ handiwork. The two Dragonblades founders were quick and thorough. This was far from it. Even Darlene had been given a quick death. This was anything but quick. This was meant to make them suffer. Few things were more painful than burns, and half the man’s face had been burned off before the killer chose to end it. Whoever had done this had done so with a sadistic desire to inflict as much pain as possible in as little time as they could manage so as not to be caught in the act. Slow but fast all the same, if that makes sense. Having one’s face steadily burned off he could imagine would feel as slow as the flow of an entire lifetime even if it was only a matter of minutes. And then ended quickly with a sword, likely in order to get away. It was needlessly cruel. That likely ruled out himself, Celes… Even Faris, who as much as he loathed his ilk, deep down he didn’t think the blighter had it in him to do this.
He could agree with the woman in the very familiar suit that this was deliberate. Painfully deliberate. And that they shouldn't touch the evidence. Caius' gaze pierced towards the assistant who had attempted to move the body. He watched his body language. Could he be the culprit, and now trying to impede them finding evidence? But he didn't know for sure. All he could do was answer his question. "Unfortunately, as much as it hurts, and as much as it's going to smell before long... This is the best way to get this over with as soon as possible. I apologize for your strife" he brought up politely. If the man was innocent, he felt for his plight. But there was nothing to be done except wrap this up best they could, as quickly as they could. And that meant leaving evidence intact.
He elaborated on the now-dead master's work a bit when Caius inquired about the crystal. He didn't know much, but this "moon crystal" appeared to potentially be linked to what had brought them here. Interesting...
"A shame. I wouldn't have minded helping if I could."
He looked down at the shards he'd stepped on. It'd been broken from the outside. Meaning that in the time he'd been unable to remember, someone or something had attacked the protective glass surrounding the crystal. Indeed, had someone actually intended to steal it? As he thought about it, his thoughts drifted for a moment to the woman's observation before.
"I doubt the Captain would go this far even with a motive. He's strange, for a pirate. Don't like his ilk one bit, but that one doesn't have the sadism to pull that off. I could be wrong, of course" he brought up. Not the first time he'd been a poor judge of character. "But something tells me that I'm right on this one. I don't think our two disappearances are the culprits."
The sketchy sounding man spoke up. "Oh, that woman leading that group, what was it, the Dragonblades? I should get in touch with them at some point."
Something about him made Caius hope that he didn’t. Something about him freaked him out for one reason or another, but he didn't get much chance to think about it when a noise shot him to attention. Something was wrecking the house. The culprit, perhaps? Had Celes found him and engaged him? The strange man would use some sort of power to take the crystal, and when his pocket dimension opened up, his sword materialized in his hand on pure instinct alone. Whatever had been inside of that thing he'd just opened up, it felt like...
He took a breath. He needed to focus. He didn't look at Emet as he decided that the best thing they could do for now was follow along and hope that perhaps they would find the two missing people in the process.

mma gave the butler a nod when he expressed his concern.
"I understand, but this is important. We'll be as quick as we can." she said, adding on to the knight's words of support. Emma listened intently to what the butler had to say about the man's research. It was definitely interesting. However, he became distracted by something breaking upstairs and turned to leave. Emma had more questions, but she'd have to seek him out later to ask them. She did note, however, his use of the words 'our house'. Interesting way to put it. Generally the help didn't refer to their master's house with such possessiveness. She filed that under her cabal theory for now. The knight explained why he thought the pirate was innocent, but Emma didn't know how much she could rely on his testimony. So far she doubted it was the pirate anyway, so she didn't bother challenging anything in his argument. As for the other guy, he casually walked over and attempted to do something to the crystal. Emma didn't like it.
"What did I just say about tampering with the crime scene? Leave it alone." she said, her voice hard to indicate it was not a request. She kept a cold, watchful glare on the man. Kill the host as a distraction and then steal the crystal under the guise of protecting it? It worked as a plan, which added this man to the suspect list.
"What was your name again, Mister...?" she asked of him. Be nice to have that for her records. The Knight seemed more interested in what was going on upstairs, but that would have to wait for the moment, unfortunately. Emma couldn't cover all bases and had to stay focused on one thing at a time. If what was happening upstairs involved the killer, then hopefully whoever they were in conflict with would end things quickly for them. If the killer was not involved, then it had nothing to do with her anyway.
”Mysteries?” The butler looks surprised. ”Well no, not that I’m aware of. He kept mostly out of the domain of fiction. Though I suppose he liked his speculative science stories…”
The butler watches nervously as de Lune’s body is examined. He looks about to say something before the wooden bang makes him jump, letting out a startled yelp as he looks upstairs in horror. ”No, no! Not the balcony!”
His pleas fall on deaf ears however as the indistinct voices from above continue. He’s so preoccupied that he doesn’t notice the crystal as it’s swept away into another dimension. The crystal, on its part, disappeared quite nicely into darkness.
There’s shuffling from upstairs. The sound of crunching glass. Then a figure hops over the side, descending as though weightless on a single, motionless wing. His coat furls out behind him as he lands, and he takes you all in, squinting at Emma before giving them a dismissive, ”Don’t mind me. Carry on.”
He shoots back up to the third floor again. He says something else, but the words echo among the rafters.
The butler looks stunned. For the first time in the night, he is speechless. After a moment, he mutters a prayer and says, ”Please. Just find whoever did this.”
Adjacent Rooms:
Entrance Hall - North: Nothing appears out of the ordinary in the hall directly outside of the ballroom. The two attached doors lead to the parlor room and the kitchen. Another hall connects to the staircases and the eastern and western courtyards. Further still is the entrance hall. From your vantage point, you can see the back of the entrance hall’s great griffon statue.
Parlor Room: You know that one of the teams was already sent to search this room. Three people are currently inside: Rufus, Garnet, and Lumina. See: Research and Ruminations.
Kitchen: The kitchen is still hot with the fires of the stove only recently extinguished. A heavy table sits at the center laden with dishes, glasses, and other flatware, all used. In the back, a mousy woman faces the corner, a hand over her mouth. The maid, Primrose Ware.
The Eastern and Western Courtyards: Both courtyards are under assault by the heavy, almost oppressive rain. There are no lights here to see by, and many clues would need deep inspection if they haven’t already been washed away. A fountain acts as the centerpiece for both courtyards. In the eastern courtyard, you can make out the hulking figure of the gardener, Adrian Giles, through the rain. He’s hauling what appears to be rocks into a pile in the northeastern corner.
The Office (because some people like to break my thread structure, Emet): The office is not an adjacent room. It lies at the extreme end of the western wing. However, should Emet decide to teleport here, he would find a cramped room of leather furniture, oaken bookshelves, and cabinets. One cabinet drawer is open. Inside, it looks as though files have been searched. On the desk, there are what appear to be letters titled with names you haven't heard of. They are copies of your own invitation. The desk drawer is locked.
A few words from the butler come to mind, 'If you're the stray, well, who knows what might happen?'

Hades looked at the butler as he rushed off. "A pity, then." Welp, so much for that. But at the very least, it was a conversation ender, as the man started rushing off, hoping to save what little of the home he could. It was only when the woman talked to him, obviously irate, that he took his attention off what was happening. She not only scolded him, but was trying to get his name as well. Right, he wasn't that dumb, she was obviously getting his name as a suspect. He looked at her, a coy smirk forming on his lips. "Mm, no, no I don't think I'll go with that." He tacitly refused. He would not be dragged into the suspect list, or at least, not in such a simple way. No, best to go about that in a more entertaining manner while everyone but their little group was distracted. "Perhaps I should just get out of your way." He gave a light bow. With a snap of his fingers, he vanished in a dark flash.
Followed by the body vanishing in a dark flash.
But he needed a distraction, something that would get things rolling just long enough to draw everyone else's attention. The other was a good choice for that, demanding that it be said to his face, if the echoes reverberating throughout the hall were anything to go by. Right, that would do. He reappeared briefly in the group with Lycoris, Keimusho, Genesis, and Vossler. This was a calculated risk, and he dearly hoped that Lycoris didn't think too much into it, especially, his back to Lycoris. "I said you are an uncultured savage, you duckfaced buffoon. And your barbarism is matched only by your atrocious sense of fashion. If you desire satisfaction, come and take it." He said, before glancing behind him to Lycoris as he murmured an amused "Good luck." Before he vanished.
So any attack meant for him would likely slam into Lycoris. Fun!
Off he went, to the Office with the corpse. The place was a mess. Letters and papers everywhere. This place had already been ransacked. Shame, but there was a way around that. Others may wish to go through the motions, and normally, he would as well. But those notes were valuable. He wanted them, and well, with his own growing suspicions, he felt that he could manage the situation should it get out of hand. So that was why, flopping the body into the owner's chair, and casting a curative spell to repair the fatal wounds, he decided that the two of them were going to have a small chat. Which could only be initiated by Hades casting Life on the poor soul, hoping to draw him back. Just life though, didn't want him fully recovering if he was right.
