Welcome one and all to our beautiful new skin! This marks the visual era of Adventu 4.0, our 4th and by far best design we've had. 3.0 suited our needs for a very long time, but as things are evolving around the site (and all for the better thanks to all of you), it was time for a new, sleek change. The Resource Site celebrity Pharaoh Leep was the amazing mastermind behind this with minor collaborations from your resident moogle. It's one-of-a-kind and suited specifically for Adventu. Click the image for a super easy new skin guide for a visual tour!
Final Fantasy Adventu is a roleplaying forum inspired by the Final Fantasy series. Images on the site are edited by KUPO of FF:A with all source material belonging to their respective artists (i.e. Square Enix, Pixiv Fantasia, etc). The board lyrics are from the Final Fantasy song "Otherworld" composed by Nobuo Uematsu and arranged by The Black Mages II.
The current skin was made by Pharaoh Leap of Pixel Perfect. Outside of that, individual posts and characters belong to their creators, and we claim no ownership to what which is not ours. Thank you for stopping by.
The woman quickly recovered from being startled by her first customer in – oh god just don’t even look at the clock, it’s not worth it – and quickly sat down as he did as well. She studied the young man for a moment, taking in his fiery hair and glowing eyes. She couldn’t help but feel that such brightness was hidden by his dark clothing, yet even more by his seemingly dark mood.
The young man draped his sword across his lap and spoke the question he wished to find an answer to into the world. Though, his wording was odd … perhaps he was one of those Otherworlders she’d heard of. “Looking for some answers to yer future, eh?” the woman clarified, shuffling the deck with care, “To do that, we gotta glimpse at yer past and yer present. Life is a road with many forks, and the decisions we make at each one lead us toward our futures.”
She finished shuffling the cards before slowly and gently reaching for his hand, placing it upon the deck, “Think strongly about whatcha may wish to find, and split the deck.”
Once the deck was split by his hand and put back together, he had chosen the path his fate would take.
The woman takes a breath, before drawing the first card and flipping it before him.
“The Seven of Cups,” she shows him the card, three cups standing upright on the left and right sides of the card, with the seventh cup upside down in the middle of them, “This card represents your past. The major feelings this card represents are Illusion and Deception, though not toward others, but toward one’s self. In your past, did you find yourself in a situation where you could no longer tell right from wrong, good from bad? Did it seem like everything in your reality suddenly became unknown, fuzzy, unclear? This could have happened because you were tempted down the wrong road, or because you wrapped yourself in lies and deceit to shield yourself from something. This is a haunting and sad card, for if one remains on this path, they are sure to find nothing but despair at the end.”
With that, she draws the next card.
“Justice, the eighth major arcana,” she explains, gesturing to the card depicting a sword lying between two cats, one white and one black, with their tails entwined, “This one represents your present. This is a card that represents Decisions and Karma, should you believe in such a thing. These two creatures represent a side of your soul, waiting for you to choose and make a decision. But, which is right, and which is wrong? The sword represents the heaviness of this choice you need to make, and the weight hangs upon your shoulders. If there is ever a time to believe in chance, fate, or destiny … it is now, in your present. The cards cannot decide for you, but let us see if they can give a glimpse to what your decision should lead you toward.”
And so, the final card is drawn and flipped.
“The Ten of Cups,” she sighs, possibly in relief as she shows Oren the card that depicts five cups across the top of the card and five at the bottom, each with four strings extending from it and attaching to the other cups in all colors, “This card is the near opposite of your past. It radiates Energy. This is a very powerful card representing the joy and excitement of your goals being realized. Your energy and positivity will be practically magnetic to others – infectious, inspiring them as well. Do not doubt the sensations that come with this, and open your heart fully to them when you realize them in your future.”
The cards sat between them as the woman pondered, “You are drawn to the Cups. They represent open-minded and quiet individuals, and mostly involve matters of the heart. Whatever clouds your heart … I do hope you find what it so desperately seeks.”
You meander toward the square, where the majority of the festivities are being held. As you approach, you overhear an argument between friends as to who is going to dominate the contest this year. They say its the ultimate test in artistic skill, something only the most creative and talented minds could perform. Intrigued, you look toward them and notice a sign: P U M P K I N C A R V I N G C O N T E S T
Picnic tables and benches are set up with pumpkins galore, all begging to have the most artistic face put upon them. At each station is an array of carving utensils, pencils and paints, and of course an apron to keep you clean as you work. All ages are clearly participating, as you see children dressed up painting away on their small pumpkins. Something suddenly wizzes by your head, floating just above the nearby tables.
A Dorky Face bounces about wildly, laughing as it zooms over the pumpkins below, “Welcome, artists! Who will carve me a wonderful new face for the upcoming year? Don’t be shy, I can’t return to the woods in this old thing, make me something nice!”
(In this thread, your character will carve whatever design their heart desires. All the carvings will be judged by the resident Dorky Face, who somehow claims he can take your pumpkin and wear it for a year. Give him a brand new mug to go show off in the spooky forest, or he might get upset and smash your good gourds. And yes, you’re handling sharp instruments, so do try and be careful…)
The light of the full moon shines down on the outskirts of Provo’s Halloween festival, lighting up a sign as one approaches a seeming wall of corn.
H A U N T E D C O R N M A Z E
There’s a spot marked for the entrance, and another nearby for the exit where you see a few teenagers leaving, laughing happily among themselves. Intrigued, you wander inside…
(It’s a corn maze, what can I say? General things you may run into: people dressed up scary and looking to scare you, other people trying to find their way out, spooky and scary decorations, a terrifying corn pit that you will get stuck in and get corn kernels in all of your clothes, and anything else you can imagine! Have fun trying to find your way out!)
Provo’s Halloween festivities cover even the far reaching edges of the campground area. In one particular, inconspicuous corner stands a black tent, decorated in shining moons and stars, illuminated only by the light of torches. A sign is posted out front:
T A R O T R E A D I N G S
As you venture into the tent, you’re greeted by all manner of strange things. Lined along shelves are items from various beasts; eyes, wings, tails and more. Strange candles burn all around you, the colors of their flame differing shades of all colors one can imagine. The smell of incense catches your attention, hints of patchouli and sandalwood. Crystals of various sizes and colors catch your eye as you venture further in, realizing that the tent is much larger on the inside than it appears on the outside.
In the middle of the room is a round table, where a woman sits with a deck of strange cards before her. She looks up, startled that anyone has come in, knocking her hat askew as she quickly straightens it and clears her throat, “Oh, uh, howdy! Er, I mean, welcome~”.
It’s suddenly clear she is very much just from the area, and not a mysterious witch from the beyond.
The psychic gives you a smile, gesturing at the table, “Come for a readin’? You won’t be disappointed – and if you are, well, that’s yer own fault. The cards read you first, y’know?”
(In this thread, your character is welcome to sit down and have a tarot reading performed by a local witch! Lala will draw and do a reading with her own cards for your character, and all they’ll need to do is sit down and tell the psychic what kind of reading they would like. You can either do a 3 card or a 4 card clarity reading, but either way, you will need to tell the witch about the situation for which you are seeking answers!)
An elaborate sign is posted in the darkened square before you, decorated in oranges, yellows, and black. It a wonderfully neat scrawl it reads:
C O S T U M E C O N T E S T
Set up in the square are rows and rows of seats, occupied by excited denizens. Some of them are dressed for the activities and others are not, simply enjoying the air of festivities and looking forward to the show. In front of the chairs is a stage, decorated with pumpkins, bats, spiders, and other spooky decor, with spotlights set on the empty center with a lone microphone stand. Behind the stage are several dressing room areas, where people are mingling together with elaborate costumes of all shapes and sizes, getting ready for their turn in the show.
A moogle wearing a witch hat flies to the center of the stage where the microphone is set up, gesturing toward the crowd as it’s orange-dyed pom bobs about, “Welcome everyone to Provo’s annual Halloween costume contest! We’re so happy you could join us for another year of– ack– hey– what’s the big idea!?”
The moogle is pulled off the stage by a hilariously long, curved cane that seems to come from nowhere. Instead, an imp pops up to the microphone, clutching the mic in its tail.
“Alright, alright enough of that guy – he ain’t scary!” the Imp addresses the crowd with a wicked grin, “Let’s get this costume contest rollin’! And ya better show me something scary, freaky, gross, or all of the above! Gimme some pizzazz, some oomf, y’know some chutzpah!”
No one really got that, but that’s okay. At the snap of the Imp’s finger, the first contestant made their way to the stage, posing in their costume to the delight of the crowd …
(In this thread, you’re invited to have a character show off a spooky, scary or just cool costume off to the crowd. Be as creative, bizarre, weird, or as funny as you’d like! Our host, Kip the Imp, will provide occasional commentary as he sees fit – but he’s a tricky little fellow, so be sure to impress him or you may end up at the mercy of one of his practical jokes to keep the crowd entertained.)
