A playful smile danced across Garnet's lips as he told her that she would get on well with his own Prince. Or was it King? She wasn't sure that he had ever said. She assumed a Prince, by how he spoke of him.<br> "See, you can do it!" Garnet laughed a little. "You call him 'Noctis'. Not 'Prince Noctis' or 'His Royal Highness' or anything like that. It's not so hard," she encouraged. If he could do it when speaking about his literal Prince, she was sure he could do it when referring to her. "Does he never use a hidden name?" Garnet inquired, just to see if he had something like she had 'Dagger'. Caius had made it perfectly clear how he felt about 'Dagger', but she wondered if his own Prince had his own version.
"Then, when we have time, I shall be sure to tell you some," she smiled. "Did you know I have been to another planet? Not this one, or my original one, but another planet altogether? Or that one time I hid in a bag full of pickles to sneak across a border? Or we once tamed a giant insect to carry us to another continent by feeding it plants through a vast network of underground tunnels? Or that we once battled an army of silver dragons in a highly advanced airship we stole from the other world?" she asked, naming just some of the more absurd things she had done.
"Interesting," Garnet remarked when he confirmed that there were more anti-magic devices in circulation than they thought. "I suspect our mission just became easier. We could steal one. I suspect it would be easier to steal from a restaurant than a military facility," she pointed out, whispering the idea. "...or, we open our own business here. Something that would mean they would provide us an anti-magic device," she suggested after a moment. "If we could find something we could bring to Sonora, they may allow us to establish something here, which would give us access," she speculated.
She followed behind Caius, placing the same order that he did. Just because she wasn't a stranger to hand food it didn't mean she knew it well enough to pick her own meal.

Garnet listened to Caius's explanation, and she was sure that he was right. There was obviously a force of habit among those who worked in the castle, who knew how to address her, that her desire would never change. And it wasn't that Garnet didn't respect formality; there was a way things were done, it was just that... well, she just felt that sometimes people saw her as a Queen, and not as herself. And it was a trap Caius often fell into. He was constantly referring to her status, not who she was as a person. It was why, even now, sometimes she found herself thinking of herself as 'Dagger', as if that was who she was with all the titles and formality stripped away. Who she was if she was just an ordinary girl.
But, she knew that would never be the case. Even if she wasn't Queen, she was one of the last Summoners. Her life would never be ordinary...
"I understand the importance of etiquette," Garnet admitted after a moment. "But... I have never liked the idea that royalty would have 'servants'. Yes, people work for you, and assist you, but I always felt that.. once somebody 'served' you, you forgot who you were. A Queen is not somebody who should be served. They are somebody who serves. A Queen's responsibility is to her people, not the other way around. But... sadly, even in my world... people... often forgot that..." she admitted, thinking of her mother for a moment, after Kuja's corruption. Even Garnet herself, in her younger years, she was sure had times when she had acted the spoiled princess. She had always tried not to, but no child raised in the lap of luxury avoided that entirely. She still remembered the first time Dr Tot had shown her a globe, and how she had wondered why it was round when the castle wasn't...
"Stories. Yes. I have... seen some strange things on my travels," she admitted. Even Caius, with all of his experience and well travelled nature, she imagined, would find some of her stories unusual, she was sure. Even he would surely balk at the story of Terra, or what the Invincible had been, or an army of airships battling an army of silver dragons to try and break into a world beyond worlds to save all of reality.
"Well, I think you missed your calling as a salesman. You made that sound wonderfully appetising," Garnet said, the sarcasm playing in her eyes even if her voice remained impressively deadpan. Honestly, a sandwich with meat (although she noted he was non-specific as to what meat) sounded fine. There was a time when Garnet struggled with the idea of sandwiches. Food without cutlery? What kind of thing was that? She still remembered Steiner yelling at Zidane the first time he had expected Garnet to eat with her hands. But now? After a year's travel in all kinds of conditions? She hardly thought twice about it.
When he asked her to use her magic, she looked a little confused, but did as he asked, attempting to cast a simple Cure spell. However, as she did so, the magic simply... didn't form. She paused, and tried again. Still nothing. It was a familiar sensation. Something she'd felt in the anti-magic field back in Oeilvert. She hesitated, and looked over at Caius. "Here?" she asked, confused. "I thought... an anti-magic field was something the Sonoran Government would hide. Back in my world, only a very ancient, very advanced castle had such a thing. But here it is... in a restaurant?" she asked. Her tone was a mixture of surprised and yet, somehow, excited. After all, if they were this easy to find, then perhaps, just perhaps, this mission would be easier than she thought...

Garnet smiled, and shook her head slightly when Caius apologised, making an excuse regarding how much his own royalty drilled it in. It didn't surprise her. Her mother had been pretty insistent about titles too. Garnet had never seen it that way. But she knew plenty who did. "Back in Alexandria, my home, I usually found it was everybody else who insisted on the titles. I have this friend back there, he's Captain of my guard, and... getting him to call me anything but 'Princess' was so difficult!" she half laughed, but there was a slight trace of sadness, as she wondered where Steiner was now. She could only imagine how distressed he was if she had disappeared without a trace. And this time, there would be no way for him to find her...
"Yes, I am sure people will look at me, and think 'oh, she runs an underground cartel'," Garnet replied sarcastically, hands on her hips. She wasn't too sure what an underground cartel actually was, but she was pretty sure nobody was going to think she was a member. She still didn't see the big deal with 'Dagger'. Nobody had acted like it was an odd name back home. Maybe Zidane had just not wanted to tell her, but she didn't think so. Maybe it was a Zephron thing.
"Yes, I figured it out," Garnet said as he began to explain what he meant. Realising that might be a bit rude, she paused. "Uh, thank you, though. I have had a lot of practice learning how to use slang very quickly," she said proudly. Okay, maybe she still put a lot of thought into it, but Zidane had always said she was doing well, and while he was probably just being nice, she liked to believe him.
"I wish you wouldn't do that," Garnet huffed slightly when he said about the burger place. "My status is the same as everybody else. I am just a person. I'm nobody special. Least of all here, in Zephron. And I think you'll find I've eaten in places considerably rougher than this," she said with confidence. After all, it couldn't be any worse than Treno, could it?
Although...
"Just one question before we order," she said. "...What's a burger?"

'What if Bran Bal and Treno had a baby?' was not a question Garnet had ever expected to have to ask herself, but here she was. In Sonora. The baby fo Bran Bal and Treno. Well, if cities could have babies. Half sterile alien world with incomprehensible alien technology, and half dark, dangerous, unpleasant and doubtlessly crime ridden. She had spent most of her time at the small Dragonblades outpost, but had ventured into the city to meet Caius. She did, at least, feel that she was doing better than she did in her first time in Treno. Her gil was still firmly in her purse, for starters. But she had learned a lot since those early days as a naïve princess wandering the streets of Treno.
Still, she didn't like this city. It was thick with a mechanical stench she couldn't really describe, and the smoky, dirty vehicles that made their way around had her longing even for the simplicity of Lindblum. Say what you could about using mist to power vehicles, it was a lot cleaner than whatever they were using in Sonora. Still, she had to remember why she was there. She had endured worse to try and stop Kuja. A dirty, smelly city was the last of her problems.
Unlike Caius, she was still wearing her preferred outfit of an orange jumpsuit over a silky white blouse, the pendant still swinging around her neck, but she had added a traditional white mage cloak. Much like the one she had worn when she first fled from the castle, in what felt like several lifetimes ago. But it seemed nobody looked at each other twice in Sonora. Still, she hadn't quite expected to see Caius out of his armour, and in a suit. It was slightly strange, but not that far really from what, say, Zidane had worn back in Gaia. Just, somehow, less frilly, and more restrictive.
Caius seemed to bow, and refer to her as 'her Majesty'. She fought back a bit of a wince at that. For someone who had changed his entire attire to be undercover, it seemed that Caius was not particularly good at it. Maybe she could teach him some things, for once? "Dagger, please," she reminded him. She knew what Caius thought of her chosen undercover name, but it was, at least, less conspicuous than 'your Majesty' or 'Queen Garnet'. Or 'Priiiiiiiincess!!!!' while jumping up and down in clanking armour. So he was an improvement over Steiner. "And, really, there is no need to bow. Even were we not trying not to draw attention. I do not expect that from my friends," she explained. Truthfully, there was a time that someone greeting her without a formal salute would have seemed baffling, but after her adventures with Zidane, she found it stifling, and was happy to see it left behind.
Her eyes lit up a little at the news he had found of the magic nullifiers. Could this plan really work, after all? Usually when Garnet came up with plans on her own, she had watched them self destruct, or go horribly wrong, or her end up needing rescuing by Zidane. But Zidane wasn't here this time, and she had to find her own path. And it seemed that, for once, she might have been on the right track.
"Yes. Let us... grab... a bite..." she said, testing out the new phrase. Just when she thought she had mastered how to talk like an ordinary citizen, she ended up in a whole new world, with whole new slang to learn. It was a bizarre turn of phrase. How did you grab a bite? Both of those things were actions. Why not bite a grab? That made about as much sense to her. But she decided not to dwell on it.
"Please, lead the way. I'm eager to hear what you've learned," she said, trying to keep the excitement from her voice and sound neutral.

"Exactly," Garnet confirmed, with a slight cock of her head when Caius agreed that Kuja had to be dealt with. "This is not a personal vendetta. It is a problem that I have first hand knowledge of, and so, the responsibility falls to me," she explained. Something she had learned well dealing with her mother. She was the only one who could see how she had changed. And that meant it was her responsibility. You couldn't just ignore a problem or hope somebody else solved it. If something was wrong, and you knew people were in danger, it was your duty to fix it. Whether you were a Queen or a thief. It was just what the decent thing to do was.
Garnet almost smiled at his next bit of advice. She had no doubt that she could face the darkness and urge for revenge and do what was right. She had done it before. She had always been doing it. Stopping Kuja was not a vendetta. It was a responsibility. But what Caius said next caught her off guard. "Now, that is something I'm not sure I know how to do," she confessed. "Plan for what happens next, I mean. My entire life... I've had a plan. Not of my own choosing, but it's been there. To be a princess, to be a queen, to stop Kuja, I have always been walking a path laid out before me. If I truly can't get back to my kingdom, if I am to remain in Zephron... I'm not sure what I shall do. I suppose, I've never really... had that kind of freedom before," she confessed. And then she smiled slightly. "I don't suppose your organisation needs a White Mage?" she asked lightly. It wasn't an entirely serious question, but there was something there. She had no idea how to function without a path laid out before her.
Perhaps she'd keep searching for Zidane. And once she found him, then she could face that question.
"I know," she said quietly when he confirmed that 'her thief' might no longer be around. It hurt her, but she thought it was true. Zidane would have been ideal for this mission. Instead, they only had her. She wondered how much she had really learned from him...
"A King...?" she repeated, surprised. No. Caius had said that he was younger than a man he had served as king. And used the phrase 'highness', not 'majesty'. So... "A prince?" That did surprise Garnet. A prince and yet a thief? Garnet knew that she had come a long way as an adventurer, but she felt like there had always been that caveat; she was a capable adventurer for a royal, she had learned a lot about life outside her castle for a royal. Being a Queen was such a part of her identity that she had never been expected to live much of a life outside of that. To hear that there was a prince who was... well, a thief... that surprised her.
In a way, it almost embarrassed her. As if somehow the one excuse she had always clung to for her general lack of physical aptitude didn't quite mean what she had hoped.
A bone to pick...?
Well, that was a new phrase. One that Garnet filed away for thought at a later date.
"Very well. Then I would very much like to meet this prince," she nodded. She had difficulty picturing a thief and a royal as one, but she would soon find out. Well, unless you counted how she pictured Zidane once they were married, but that was entirely a different thing...

Garnet listened, sympathy playing across her eyes as Caius recounted his own past. It sounded rough. Perhaps rougher than her own. She was a queen, raised a princess, so many thought Garnet's upbringing had been easy and comforting. And perhaps the majority of it that she could remember had been. But she was not royalty by blood, her real home had been destroyed, her parents killed, her horn removed forcibly. The memories might have faded, but the pain in her past had always been a part of her. She knew what it was like to suffer childhood trauma.
"I am sorry, Caius. For your loss and for the pain that took over you," she said gently. "I am no stranger to it. I'm not immune. There are days, many days, when all I want is to see Kuja dead for my own self satisfaction. When I think of causing him pain and suffering as he caused me. When I wish that there was something he loved as I loved my people and my mother just so that he could know the pain of losing it. I know those feelings, but I am royalty. I was trained since childhood to rule. And personal feelings... cannot be part of my decision making. I have to rule as a Queen. I have to put aside those feelings to do what is right," she explained. "Yes, I feel guilt. Guilt for failing my home. For failing my kingdom. But that guilt isn't what drives me. What drives me is knowing what he is capable of. Kuja destroyed an entire world. I saw it happen. My own world he nearly brought to ruin, had we not stopped him. Even now, my world has wounds that might never heal. He turned the kingdoms against each other, and even with his machinations revealed, it will be many, many years, perhaps centuries, before all citizens feel safe and at peace with each other again. And there is no reason to assume he has changed. The last time I saw him before here, his goal was to annihilate every reality that there ever was, to destroy the source of all life in the universe. My personal feelings do not matter. This is... just... well, it's common sense. Kuja is a villain. He has demonstrated that he has both the power and the means to kill billions. What would you do, with that knowledge?" she asked. "Set aside our roles. Our past. Our history. Forget who you are and who I am. Just ask yourself, use pure logic if you have to, what should we do? This man has destroyed one planet, tried to destroy another, manipulated kingdoms, forged armies, murdered, lied and cheated, manipulated and tortured, showed no signs of regret or redemption, and now he is here. This isn't about revenge or guilt or even justice. This is about saving Zephron. Kuja is a deadly threat. Removing his magic should stop him. Justice, revenge, right and wrong, it can all be figured out later. As far as I'm concerned, our primary goal should be to stop him before he destroys everything. THAT is what matters," she stated firmly.
She was sympathetic to Caius's tale, but she also felt that he didn't understand the context. The bandits who killed his family sounded awful. Garnet could only imagine the pain and hatred he felt. But Kuja was different. Those bandits would hurt a few. Kuja could destroy reality. Left unchecked, she was convinced that he was the greatest threat in all of Zephron.
"We all ramble sometimes," she said gently when he apologised. "You don't need to apologise. It's... easily done. And I know that I can seem... emotional about this. But I truly believe this is the best thing we can do. To save everybody," she explained.
He said how difficult her plan would be, and for a moment, a sad smile flickered across her face. "We need a thief," she said quietly. If only she knew where Zidane was. 'Extremely difficult' was not something that would stop him. He could steal anything. He had stolen a princess from a show dedicated to her birthday, after all. And then he'd stolen her heart. (Also, a lot of gil on and off). She was certain he would know a way.
But Zidane wasn't there. The responsibility fell to her. She wondered if she'd learned enough from Zidane to pull it off. She looked at Caius, as he mentioned his contact. Well, there was a possibility. "Thank you. Your contact might be our only hope," she acknowledged.

Garnet couldn't help but pause when Caius spoke of revenge. For a moment, she had to ask herself; was this revenge? The entire time that she had been pursuing Kuja with the others, that question had never really crossed her mind. Stopping Kuja was a practical matter. He had a scheme, he was hurting people, everything they did on their quest was to try and stop him and save lives. But things were different in Zephron. Kuja, if had a scheme at all, was being much more subtle about it. Was it possible that she was wrong? That she was now purely out for revenge? Even if Kuja didn't have a plan, was it just revenge? Or justice? She was still responsible to her people. To all those people he had killed. Where did justice end and revenge begin?
"It's not... vengeance..." Garnet answered, after a momentary pause to consider. "All the things he did, I won't lie, of course I want to see him stopped. But... I'm trying to stop him because it's the right thing to do. I might be the only person in this entire world right now who truly knows what he's capable of. Especially if I can't find Zidane. Kuja is my responsibility," she paused, hesitating for a moment again.
"He was in my home for years. Guiding my mother. Corrupting her. And I knew something was wrong. I could tell. But I didn't act on it. I was too young, too coddled, too spoiled. By the time that I did, it was already too late. I failed my people. I failed all the people of my world. I can't do that again. This time, I have a chance to stop him. Before he achieves whatever he is planning. I can't fail another world," Garnet explained, realising that she perhaps hadn't let out the guilt she felt before. Because it wasn't revenge, or even justice, driving her. That was what it was. Guilt. Terra, Burmecia, Lindblum, Alexandria, all the places that had been destroyed or damaged, because of her failures. Because of mistakes she had made and things she had failed to understand. And her own power used against them.
"There must be a way," Garnet pointed out to his insistence that Sonora was corrupt. The Underworld was an option; despite being royalty, Garnet had no problem with contacting thieves. After all, she'd worked closely to Tantalus, and was in love with a thief. But it didn't seem the right option. "If they're as corrupt as you say, introducing Kuja to their mix might be too dangerous. Corruption is how he thrives. If Sonora is dangerous now, imagine Sonora answering to Kuja's whims?" she pointed out. "But perhaps there is another option..." she said thoughtfully, beginning to pace as she thought.
"If Sonora possesses the technology to create an anti-magic prison, we don't need to put Kuja in that prison. We need to bring the technology to Kuja. If Sonora is as corrupt as you say, they won't help us willingly. But, perhaps, if we can steal whatever they use to erect an anti-magic field, we could create our own cell to hold Kuja. And strike a blow against Sonora's corruption at the same time," she smiled slightly. Perhaps Zidane really had corrupted her, if this was her plan, but it seemed to make sense. Sonora was a no-go because of corruption. So if they couldn't bring Kuja to Sonora, they'd bring Sonora to Kuja.
"I will need help, however. I'm a mage. Dealing with anti-magic will leave me as powerless as Kuja," she added. Probably moreso, since she was a Queen, and when magic wasn't involved, really not that suited to anything physical...

Garnet sighed as Caius defended Zidane's actions. She wanted to say more. To tell him that Zidane's vital 'mission' had actually been to abandon her for Kuja instead, the man who they both despised. That he had spent a year looking after Kuja and making Garnet thing that he was dead, only to then return. But some things she didn't want to share. And she supposed she had said enough. It was not becoming of a Queen, even one separated from her Kingdom, to complain about things too often. She had said her piece, and more, and now she was feeling the weight of responsibility once again. A responsibility she liked to ignore when she was being Dagger, but, sadly, she couldn't always. "I suppose you are correct," she sighed, not going into further detail.
The conversation moved on to his feelings for his partner, and he claimed that she was more like family. Garnet wasn't so sure. There was a time she'd have denied her feelings for Zidane, perhaps even in the same manner when they had been part way through their adventure. But she decided not to push it. Regardless, it seemed that Caius had a special feeling for this woman. "It sounds like love, however you wish to describe it," she countered. That didn't mean romantic love, of course, but the point remained. Familial love could be a bond that was just as powerful.
Her expression hardened a little as he spoke more about how imprisoning Kuja was cruel, and removing his magic was only fair if there was no other way. "Oh, there is another way. We destroy him," Garnet reminded Caius. "Kuja is so far beyond 'cruel' I do not think our methods can be questioned. He has used his magic to murder, enslave, manipulate, and commit genocide. How much does he have to do before we consider removal of his magic justified? You would not leave a murderer his knife, would you, just because he was attached to it? We are leaving him with his life and his health. Some would say that was too generous," Garnet pointed out with a bit of a huff, hands on her hips.
She looked back at him when he told her she wasn't a Queen in Sonora, and shook her head. "I don't mean I'm going to walk in there in a ballgown and tiara and announce who I am," she told him, a slightly wry smile crossing her face. "But I have a lifetime of diplomacy to fall back on. I can find what these Sonorans want, and convince them of the right path. I'm sure of it. Everybody has a desire. Everybody has something they want. I am sure they don't want to see the world destroyed either," she pointed out. Back home, she had been the centre of peace between Lindblum, Alexandria and Burmecia. If she could do that, she was certain that she could do this.
"Oh, you'd recommend hiring someone from your mercenary guild, would you?" she teased lightly. Because of course he would. It made sense. Although Garnet's gil was limited at the moment. "I'd rather travel with a friend. And while time is of the essence, if what you tell me is true, I need time to research Sonora before we depart. So, I could wait until you're ready," she pointed out. She'd feel much more comfortable with Caius by her side. She didn't like delaying while Kuja was out there, but it couldn't be helped. Rushing in without a plan would help nobody.
"Your friend sounds very capable, but it sounds as if tracking her down would also take time. Time better spent preparing my case for negotiation with Sonora," Garnet pointed out. It felt a little unusual, truth be told, having a mission that actually played to her strengths. Usually, on her last quest to save the world, she had been rushing from one place to another, fighting, and feeling very out of her depth. But here was a time that all of her training as a diplomat could pay off. This was a time when it was the skills of Queen Garnet, not Dagger the Summoner, that would help, even if she had to keep her false name according to Caius's advice.

Garnet understood what Caius was saying, and perhaps were the situation reversed, she would be tempted to put herself into danger instead of Zidane. But a lifetime of being a royal, of having others ready to protect her, meant that she was more adapt at asking for help when she needed it. Even when she had ventured off to do things on her 'own', she had always had Steiner by her side. Zidane though, she supposed he was different. She wanted to protest and say that after everything they had been through, he had learned to take her with him, but he hadn't. At the end, he had gone back for Kuja alone. Was this any different?
She understood his point, however. It seemed the person he spoke about was more suited to certain tasks than Caius, and that was certainly true of Garnet and Zidane. She was a powerful healer, yes, but she was still not much of a combatant. She had Ramuh, but that was all, in this reality. If it was true danger Zidane was facing, maybe he had made the decision to leave her behind. It was understandable. But that didn't mean that she approved. "I'm not worried about my honour," Garnet replied, sounding a little frustrated. "Zidane... he kept me waiting for a year. He left me to go on his own mission and whether it was because he thought I couldn't handle it or he wanted to protect me or, perhaps, more likely, he wanted to protect Kuja from me, I never found out, but he already kept me waiting for a year. And then he came back into my life, and now he's just... gone again. Being swept aside twice... regardless of how noble the reason... is difficult to... deal with..."
Garnet paused to consider. "In fact, no, it's worse than difficult. It.... it's.... it's SUCKING!" she declared, almost getting the slang she had overheard used by some of the younger white mages in the church right, but, well, not quite. It was a good effort though.
She calmed down a little, and looked over at him. "Although, if you'll forgive me saying it, it does sound like your relationship with this person may be more like mine and Zidane's than you realise," she said, smiling slightly. She wondered if even Caius knew how he really felt. It had taken Garnet a long time to figure out her own feelings, after all.
He moved on to discuss her plan regarding Kuja, although he seemed hesitant. "Cruel?" she asked curiously. "We need to imprison him somewhere. What other choice do we have? Removing his magic isn't cruel. It's for everybody's safety. It's still more than most would say he deserves," she pointed out. She listened to his comment regarding Sonora. She knew very little about that place, however, and sighed. "If I was still Queen, I would just send an envoy to obtain information about their prisons. But... as I am here, I don't know what I can do. Maybe... I need to go there. Try and learn of what they have done, and to see if they're willing to imprison Kuja there."
He advised against it, of course. She sighed, and shook her head. "Zidane is not here, and every hour we waste is an hour that brings Kuja towards the fruition of his plans. I may not have a kingdom here, but I am still Queen Garnet til Alexandros XVII, I have been trained in negotiation and diplomacy since birth. It may be our only hope for this entire world that I can get through to them. And if I have to go alone, I shall," she said with determination.

Garnet cocked her head and smiled a little at his suggestion of asking to be Zidane's travelling buddy. If she found him again. "Yes, you'd think that would make sense, wouldn't you?" she half-smiled, although her tone spoke that she was perhaps slightly annoyed. Not at Caius, of course, but at Zidane. "And yet, he's run off and left me behind. Again. After all the adventures I had with him. You'd think he'd know by now that I could handle it," she sighed. That was the only logical reason she could assume Zidane would leave her behind. He thought that he was protecting her. But she didn't need protecting. Not any more...
Garnet paused, frowning, trying to take in this new information. Kuja had been missing for six months, and Caius seemed to act as if he had been there for years before. Which begged the question as to how time flowed in Zephron. Garnet was pretty sure it hadn't been YEARS that she'd been stranded there. But it raised concerning questions. Like if she could get back to Gaia, would she even return to the same time period? "That's... mildly concerning. It seems that as people come to Zephron, we do not all arrive in the same time frame. I have not been here for anywhere near as long as Kuja. How... odd..." She pondered. A rudimentary type of time travel? Could that be Kuja's goal here? Mastery of time might solve his expiration date issue. It was worth making a note of.
"Kuja operating in secret is somehow more alarming than the alternative," Garnet admitted. "He is an expert at manipulating others. He could be controlling an entire kingdom and we wouldn't even know it. Do not underestimate him," she said with confidence. It was one of the few things that she was absolutely certain of.
"Hm. From what I understood of Kuja's revelation regarding his lifespan, it was not that it was short, but rather finite that bothered him. Kuja things that he deserves to live forever. The end of his life may be tomorrow, or twenty years from now. I am not sure that he ever knew," Garnet explained. There was the possibility that she was wrong, of course, but it seemed the best way to say that Kuja was, simply put, massively overreacting to the scenario. Everybody died. They didn't try to blow up the planet because of it.
"Well, thank you, Swordbert," she smiled back at him when he agreed to help her. Although she wished she did have a plan. There had to be a way to contain Kuja, didn't there? Something they could do. She paused, an idea flickering across her mind. "....Back on my world, there was a place... called Ipsen's Castle. It was... a strange place. With technology from another world. Terra. Kuja's world. It... erected an anti-magic field over the entire castle. Nobody could cast a spell. Not even Kuja. He feared that place because it took away his power. What if... we could find out how they achieved that? A way of creating an anti-magic field. It could be used to apprehend and contain Kuja. Like a massive Silence enchantment..." she suggested. It was a feasible plan, she felt. If they could replicate whatever had made Ipsen's Castle the trap that it was, they could reuse it here, to capture Kuja...
