"Good. It would be a shame not to see you around" Caius brought up with a slight smile. At least the nerves seemed to finally be settling down. Maybe that was just what he needed. A good, soothing environment, and someone he could comfortably talk to. Was this how being able to relax was supposed to work? Though her remarks about being stuck in circles with women who treated her with scorn over their men actually got a genuine, surprised belly laugh out of him.
“Wrong area, indeed” Caius managed out between bouts of a jolly cackle. “You’re beautiful, I’m not surprised someone insecure enough would deem you a threat” he cheeked far too offhandedly given the words he had used. It was meant completely objective, stated so quickly and matter of fact, with no hesitation before he just, moved on. Perhaps his use of language could still use some work. "Come down to the Wyvern's Rest sometime, I doubt you'll be able to go more than a few steps without meeting at least one of them. Some of them run the charity clinic in Provo, too, which is where my co-leader is right now. Was supposed to take a vacation, but... She saw a struggling charity clinic and couldn't help herself."
Caius missed having Celes around, but he was proud of her for what she had done. He wasn’t all that surprised, either, though. Celes was a perpetual workaholic who just couldn’t look away when someone was in need, or when there was busywork to be done.
Caius had just taken a sip of his drink when Cindy spoke of Alex, and then that sip was immediately shot straight up his nose when he processed it. “Well, you definitely fit in” Caius remarked, coughing and hacking a few times as he tried to get the unfortunate beverage cleaned out of his nostril gutters with his sleeve. Alex was lucky he had just gotten off with a slap. “I was trying to look for a place to sleep when the proprietor of some sleazy bathhouse tried to coax me to find a second to qualify for a free bath. Then Alex shows up and pretty much shoves me in. Get maybe a few minutes before he says he’s going to target one of my… Friends, over her powers.”
He didn’t get specific this time. He hadn’t thought Yuna’s abilities would make her a target before, but now he knew and wouldn’t make that mistake again.
“Also said he could help Lumina, save her from dying. But not to ask because he doesn’t want to” he added, wiping his nose using his sleeve again with a look of disdain. “Bastard.”
He took a breath to see if he could actually, y’know, breathe correctly around the time she confirmed that she indeed had pulled many all-nighters. Caius made a few clicking noises and shook his head as if to say “called it.”
“Well, if we all do. You’re coming with us” Caius challenged then with a light smile. “You played your part, after all. Though I doubt Alex will be along for the ride, so I wouldn’t count on getting much sleep.”

TEACH THEM BOYS A LESSON
Cindy smile. "Well aren't you just a sweetheart." The mechanic liked to surround herself with kind people, especially in a whole new world. The last thing she had needed was to be pranked or ignored, but luckily there had been nothing but kindness shown to her since she had arrived in Zephon. Well, besides what happend with Alex back in Sonora, but that was besides the point.
Giving a smile at his laugh, she took a drink. "Thank ya for the compliment, but I ain't anythin' special. But ya, if I'm a threat because I'm fixin' a car, then they have some issues with their relationship. I'm not flirty, I'm just kind." Cindy have never given anyone any reason to think she was hitting on them. A relationship was the last thing on her mind. She was just a kind person, and that would never change.
When he state where she could meet the other girls, a grin crossed her face. "I'll have to check it out. Sounds like a good group of people, but I wouldn't expect anything less if you know them." Caius seemed like her, wanting to just be around those who made life better and more enjoyable. That was more important to her than finding a partner anyday.
The statement she made about Alex had him spitting his drink out, some of it coming out if his nose. Cindy instantly stood up and and patted his back, trying to help a little bit. "Yeah, I was not happy about any of that, but I'm glad to know y'all have my back." Even though Prompto defending her hadn't gone too well for him, she appreciated him doing so. Those boys were great friends, and it seemed Caius was as well.
"I would love that. I need to get out and be with people. I've been rackin' my brain too much with this custom car I've been workin' on." Not to say she didn't have the capabilities to build it, she just didn't have the parts. Rolling her eyes, she scoffed. "Good, I like my sleep to be voluntary anyways." Alex would get far more than a slap to the face if he ever tried that again.
“I actually meant… No, nevermind” Caius stopped himself before he could correct her remark, laughing softly. He had wanted to say that it was her physical appearance that made insecure people lose themselves, but… Even Caius, as oblivious as he was, knew he was playing with fire if he tried to stress that word or its meaning. He had said it objectively, and calling attention to it was just asking for trouble. Or at least, it had when it came to Celes. He wasn’t putting himself through that again.
It seems he had learned, at least a little. So he changed tact. “I think you’re selling yourself short. You’re incredibly kind and patient, and in any world, that’s nothing to look past” he pointed out. “You say you’re nothing special, but, at risk of sounding pompous… The women I know, the women I work with, they’re something else. They’ve led armies, saved the world, forged covenants with the gods, fought gods, BEEN gods. When I say you fit in with them, I don’t give that word lightly. You may not be a combatant like them, but in my time… Everyone knew of Cindy Aurum. A miracle mechanic, rumored to have been able to turn the King’s Regalia into a flying car. That’s amazing Cindy, and I don’t think you understand just how incredible that is, especially without ready access to tech from either Lucis or Niflheim. And the Cindy of my time did all of that while keeping Hammerhead running as a sanctuary from the daemons, one of the last.”
His hands had animated a little as he zoomed into an invested focus on that point. “Nobody I know can do what you can. You might not see yourself as anything special, but… I do. And I’m sure Noctis and them feel the same way.”
He took a deep breath, realizing then he had gone on a bit long. And maybe a bit too strongly. Self awareness had hit him like a truck in that moment, and he chewed the inside of his cheek. “Sorry” he blurted out, sheepishly scratching the back of his head. Cindy, true to his word about her, immediately tried to help when the unfortunate beverage got clogged in his nose. He nodded in thanks as he managed to fix his breathing. Though it’d take a bit more work on his part to get rid of the discomfort. The bitter beverage really stung his nose. “You’re welcome to the Rest at anytime, just let me know.”
He’d rather forget about Alex, honestly. He wasn’t worth losing sleep over. Even if he did chuckle a bit at her next remark about Sorel. At least she seemed open to the idea of having a break day with the group of them when the opportunity came. His attention was piqued at her talk of a custom car though. “What kind of vehicle are you trying to build?” he inquired curiously. “I’m nowhere even remotely near the genius in machines that you are, but I did build my own from scratch once so I might understand a bit at least.”
And maybe getting it out of her system and out of her brain would help her stress on it a bit. He couldn't do anything about that road trip right now, but he could at least try to help in the here and now where he could.

TEACH THEM BOYS A LESSON
Cindy was oblivious to the effect her looks had on people. She personally never cared what she, or anyone else, looked like. Personality was key to her, and that was something she would never change. She'd feel sorry for a daemon if it was attacking her if it had a sad expression on its face. So, she had no idea that is was more her outfit and her looks than her abilitites that brought her attention.
As he told her about his friends, she was starting to wonder why she would be a part of a group like that. When he continued on though, all she could was blink for a moment. "I really did that? This me was obviously taken from before that. I-I wanted to all that, but knowin' I actually did? Ain't that somethin'." She was baffled, if she was going to be honest.
Cindy never thought her little ideas would ever amount to anything, or even leave the comfort of her brain, but apparently she was wrong. She was used to her work getting compliments, but this was something else. Taking a drink, she remained quiet for a little while longer.
Coming back to her senses, Cindy remembered that was sitting and talking with someone. "Oh! Of course! I'll definitely make a stop there as soon as I can. As much as I love what I do, it's about time I save room for friendships." She had enough time in her day to be able to do both, and it was time for her to make some real relationships. She couldn't be dedicated to cars forever.
"To be honest, I'm not quite sure what I'm buildin'. I'm just puttin' pieces I find together, and hopin' for the best. I just want to see what I can come up with only usin' the stuff I find around towns." It was now a challenge for her to see if she could make something out of basically nothing. "Oh, engine and all? I'll have to come get a gander at it sometime."

Caius Lucis Caelum
This Cindy was, apparently, taken from a time before she had actually succeeded in creating a flying vehicle. Caius didn’t remember all the details, but he had overheard conversation amongst the Glaives of the King’s personal vehicle being rebuilt by the legendary mechanic, and then made to be able to fly. While Sonora’s flying cars were built with far more advanced tech compared to what one could find out in the wilds of Lucis outside the Crown City, Caius remembered being amazed at the prospect. He hadn’t seen fancy cars all that often in his travels to begin with, so hearing that one could actually fly like the Nifs’ giant airships could? It had been an inspiration – one central to continuing his work with machines, and even with weapons, long after he had become a Kingsglaive himself. Before, his mechanical skill had been a necessity. But Cindy had made him want to actually keep working at it, and improve. Something that had been instrumental for him on Zephon. Cindy didn’t know it, but she had been a part of him in some way before they had even met.
Something that he wasn’t sure if he could tell her, if he was being honest. It would probably just be weird. But maybe he could find a way at some point to say it without sounding like a creep? “You are definitely something,” Caius remarked with a small laugh. “Last I heard, you had practically taken over your grandfather’s garage already before the darkness came. And not a soul was surprised.”
He was glad to hear she would be taking some time for herself, and making some connections here in Zephon. He knew how easy it was to get lost in your work, after all. Even if he really did need to learn to actually adapt that thought process to himself… Either way, he had sat up straight and given Cindy his full attention, curious about what she was building. So it was some kind of… Challenge build? Interesting, he had to wonder just what she could come up with? “I would like to see it, next I am in the area” he admitted then, but he frowned and scratched his head sheepishly when Cindy said the same about his.
“It’s… Kind of back on Eos” Caius relinquished with a sigh. “It wasn’t much compared to what I’ve heard about your exploits. Just a project I spent a good year on, salvaging what I could find when I wasn’t hunting daemons, or when trying to recover from injury and couldn’t fight. I needed a vehicle and lacked the gil to buy it – not that I was old enough to buy one anyway. But I did learn a lot from trying to build it, using old mechanical reference books I found lying around and a lot of trial and error. I miss it, honestly, it was my only real company back then. Probably got mistaken for a pile of junk and scrapped for parts after I was sent here, though.”

TEACH THEM BOYS A LESSON
As Caius continued to speak, Cindy was more and more shocked if she was being honest. Her plans were always put on hold due to customers at the shop or her grandfather needing her to run somewhere for him since he couldn't get around much as well anymore. To hear that she did accomplished something she had wanted to, and continued her grandfather's shop was baffling to her. While on Eos, she was constantly going back and forth on whether she would keep Hammerhead going, or move on to something different. Guess she got her answer.
Taking a drink, she realized that it was getting low. "Want me to grab you another?" Caius said he would like to see the car the next time he was in the area and she gave him smile. "You bet. It's always nice to have someone else take a look as well, get an outside perspective and all that. It all becomes one big blur after starin' at if for so long." Cindy hated taking breaks, but she knew it was important to get a fresh look at things, especially if she was building something people could make drive one day.
"Sometimes the best the cars end up being the rusty ol' ones. Might not be much to look at, but they're reliable." When she worked on cars, the last thing she ever offered was cosmetic things. "That's too bad, but I'm sure someone could have found it and used it. If not, well at least the parts could be useful to someone." That's how she ended up with some of the parts she had come across in her time, just ones that others threw away.
Looking around, she had to smile at all the people doing various activities. "Are y'all doin' any more of these events? I haven't decided yet. Maybe I'll just go put myself in with a crowd somewhere and see what happens." There's a chance she would be confused by some conversations, but that was also a good way to learn how to actually socialize and have conversations with people that didn't involve cars.

Caius Lucis Caelum
“I would appreciate that, thank you” Caius extended his appreciation when Cindy offered to grab a new set of drinks. She herself then extended a perspective that Caius hadn’t really thought about, at least in terms of building. Getting a fresh perspective outside of your own wasn’t just useful in battle, apparently. Eventually, looking at it on your own just becomes a blur… Interesting. “I hadn’t thought of that. Guess I’m still too reliant on my own skills alone, even now” Caius admitted softly. “Might even be what’s held me back from making the most of what I’ve been building. I’ll have to try it your way sometime.”
It had been a good long while since he had actually been at the workshop. Some nutjob Celes hired had taken over his workbench while he was gone, and he had heard more than one explosion since. However, the girl was a genius, and Caius knew she was getting far more use out of the space than he was. He could do maintenance on his weapons with the tools he brought with him, but he hadn’t had time lately to do anything beyond that.
Maybe when this mess was all over, he could look at it again. Maybe seeing what Cindy was working on would provide some inspiration? Speaking of builds, Cindy reasoned that at least if it did get scrapped, someone likely found good use of it. He smiled, bittersweet, not sure how to explain that it didn’t really make him feel any better. “This is probably strange for me to say, but… It was really my only companion for a long time. And keeping it going was about the only purpose I had back then, besides surviving myself. I’d spend hours getting it just perfect, with any materials I could scrounge up, or buy in a pinch if I had the smallest bit of extra gil. I kind of miss it.”
Caius sat up fully to face Cindy when she asked about doing more events. “Haven’t thought about it yet. I took whatever I could find that would take me far away, so Lumey could get some time with her sister. I haven’t checked the board since” he admitted, scratching his beard in thought. “Suppose if you’ve got time to kill, we could go take a look.”

TEACH THEM BOYS A LESSON
Giving a nod, Cindy made her way to the bar area and got them both new drinks. She listened to him as she got back and handed him his drink. "I used to think the same way, then Pawpaw dragged my happy ass away from what I was doing. It really works." To be honest, he probably did that mostly because she was starting to throw things around because she was getting frustrated, but it all worked out in the end. She took breaks, and even started asking him for his opinion, which she could tell made him happy even if he didn't want to admit it.
Over the years at the shop, Cid had hired a few people to help Cindy out, but they never lasted. Either they didn't like that a girl knew more, or there wasn't much to do because Cindy would take over the project they were working on because she didn't like how they were doing it. It wasn't that she was rude about it or anything, it was just that she liked it done a certain way. Eventually, he stopped bringing other people in and let her do her thing.
"Oh Caius, I'm sorry to hear that. I get what you're sayin' though. Losin' somethin' that you worked so hard on can be tough, trust me. Maybe there's somethin' here that you could work on? Get your mind off of things and get that feelin' back? Even if it's somethin' small, doin' somethin' for yourself can really make a difference." Maybe that was why she liked working on cars, it was just her and the machine in front of her. It tested her and made her learn.
When he suggested they go take a look, Cindy smiled. "Well I am technically on a vacation, so I'm free for whatever. Let's go see what we can get ourselves into, yeah?" It seemed both of them could do with the distraction from work, so they might as well take the opportunity while they had it. Maybe they would run into someone they knew, or meet some new people.

Caius Lucis Caelum
It seemed Caius had not been able to see the logical benefits of having help in this case. But that had been true of his entire life, really, and Caius was just going to have to learn their merits one thing at a time. This was a start, at least, though he wasn’t sure of when the next time would be that he would have need to look for that sort of feedback. Though Cindy then brought up the possibility he could work on something here. Doing something small, even… Hmm.
“Well, I have upgraded my own weapons. Similar to how I heard your grandfather would” Caius spoke up to start. He held out a hand and summoned his weapons, one at a time. A gunblade, modified from a longsword. It had been a gift from his father before he had passed, and Caius had outfitted it to serve him well. It also had a retractable guard, which Caius would push on a mechanism to cause the guard to retract before doing so again to bring it back. Something that allowed him to modify his fighting style to fit each situation. And then there were the twin daggers, both with gunblade-like functionalities.Their barrels weren’t that large, indicating they didn’t have a lot of power behind them. However, the mechanism seemed to be rigged for repeated use, and the paint on the triggers had worn far more than the rest of it. Which was strange, considering it looked like it hadn’t been long since their last bit of maintenance. Of course, this was because they were outfitted for rapidfire, meant to overwhelm opponents while the bigger gunblade was for overpowering them.
“I’ve also built a few weapons, though I don’t have a need to use them. I’ve sold a few to merchants for some extra gil, or given them to promising Dragonblades” Caius continued to muse aloud. “I uh… Built a cabin. It’s not exactly a decor’ marvel, but it puts a roof over my head. I haven’t worked on any projects since, I’ve been pretty busy.”
What would be a good next project to do? He wasn’t all that sure. Either way, Cindy was up for looking into something to do. So Caius finished his drink and got up.

TEACH THEM BOYS A LESSON
Cindy gave a nod. "Yeah, that was his thing. I never really got into weapons and such. If anyone came to the shop lookin' for a fight, they'd end up with a wrench to the head, I can guarantee that much." They had some troublesome folks come around the shop, but nothing too nasty. To be honest, if you saw a blonde holding a wrench and an old man with a shotgun, chances were you weren't going to stick around much longer to find out what would happen.
As he pulled out each weapon, Cindy would check them out from all angles. Though she didn't use weapons herself, she could appreciate their designs. It was also a breath of fresh air to see him pull his weapons out the way he did because it reminded her of being home. Though she had only seen it done a few times, it was definitely something to remember. She wondered how the boys were doing, and hoped everything had gone well with them.
"That's a good thing to do with weapons you won't use, others can definitely use them. It's nice to be able to teach others about them as well." Teaching others to use weapons the correct way could go a long way, especially in a new world where you don't know what people are about. "Well that's a start though! Some people have nothin', so you're doin' better than some. I got lucky and found a little place. It's a bit run down, but it's a start."
"Now that's what I'm talkin' about!" Cindy got up as well and made her way to where some of the events were. "Well it looks like there's bingo, some sort of shuffle board? We could try parasailin' but I think both of have done that. Is there anythin' that strikes your fancy?"
