Final Fantasy Adventu is a roleplaying forum inspired by the Final Fantasy series. Images on the site are edited by KUPO of FF:A with all source material belonging to their respective artists (i.e. Square Enix, Pixiv Fantasia, etc). The board lyrics are from the Final Fantasy song "Otherworld" composed by Nobuo Uematsu and arranged by The Black Mages II.
The current skin was made by Pharaoh Leap of Pixel Perfect. Outside of that, individual posts and characters belong to their creators, and we claim no ownership to what which is not ours. Thank you for stopping by.
With a confused look Cid kept staring out of the window, at least he had stopped driving, but first of all: the light had returned and second of all: this was not the road he was on. Or rather, this wasn't anywhere he recognized. He had traveled a bit in the past, so the possibility that this was somewhere in Eos was there. It was a big world after all. In the past he had been used more to teleportation, but not this big of a leap if this is still in Eos.
Having sat still for a bit Cid soon let out a sigh as he opened the door and stepped outside the truck, letting himself get used to the scenery. He was at least high up some kind of mountain, he could see a forest and there seemed to be some sort of city far in the distance. Scanning the area down at least gave a good impression of where he was at. Pulling out his phone, he noted he wasn't getting any reception here. With a sigh he put the phone away and continued his investigation of the area. Checking around he searched for a good way to drive down with his truck, since this situation wasn't helping him all too well. From there he could see if he could get to some settlement and ask around.
Walking around the truck and checking the mountain wall, he noticed a way left further ahead. Though, it would probably be a bit of a bumpy ride. Climbing back into his truck, Cid started to drive carefully along as he hoped to avoid falling off the edge where it would get narrow. As this was no road the short trip to the turn was all but pleasant, as he turned around the corner, he noted there was a good way down. Slowly driving further ahead, he could see that there were some buildings… or what were buildings on this side of the mountain, though his first impression were ruins. He shrugged as he continued his bumpy ride down the mountain in the hopes to find either a traveler or some better roads.
"Them glaives would've liked this," he said to himself with a little smile, "I'm too old for this, haven't been seein' much new since a long time. Hope there ain't any daemons along the way." The fact the light was back did help with the fact that he wasn't exactly in a location with street lights. Still it made him wonder how Noctis was doing. Once he had found himself a place safe, he could figure out how to contact them, hopefully he could just call them at some point.

I live for the people of Spira, and would have gladly died for them, but no more!
[attr=class, bulk] Yuna didn’t normally travel this far east of Provo, since she didn’t like to leave her clinic unattended for too long. She did occasionally take the odd hired job though, and this one was no exception. There was a young archaeologist who had apparently set off to explore the ruins in Kahiko Valley, but it was a week past when the man had been supposed to return. Privately, Yuna feared the worst when it had already been so long, but she hoped that she could at least bring closure to the poor man’s parents. Either she’d heal him and help him get back, or she’d perform the sending so he could find peace in the afterlife. Yuna was mentally prepared for both.
The summoner tended to gravitate towards jobs that involved healing or search and rescue as opposed to just straight up fighting monsters. She wasn’t entirely defenseless alone since she had Shiva and a few black magic spells, but she wasn’t exactly a front-line fighter without her guardians either. She left those types of jobs to the experts, and she took the ones that were more niche like this.
Yuna had taken a public caravan down to the valley, and she had been dropped off when there were still a few hours of daylight left. She had the man’s research notes from his parents, so she knew that he had been planning to focus his expedition on a ruined temple built into the cliffside, and she decided that her first course of action should be to hike up and begin the search there.
The temple really was towering and impressive even to this day. The windows were long since gone and parts of the stone walls were crumbling, but Yuna still couldn’t help but look around in wonder as she crept through the foreboding entryway. It was hard to tell which god or aeon this might have once been dedicated to since all of the tapestries were worn and faded, and all the relics at the altar were either smashed or pilfered. Maybe the missing archeologist could tell her if she found him.
“Hello?” She called out, and even though her voice echoed around the entry hall, there wasn’t any other answer. After a moment, she decided that she wasn’t likely to find anyone by standing around , so she ducked around a tapestry to continue her search further in.
The first few rooms didn’t lead to anything too fruitful, but it was while Yuna was inspecting the ancient kitchen that she found something flung into one corner that didn’t seem to belong there. A worn backpack with one strap torn off and the other side coated in a dark brown stain that looked suspiciously like dried blood. Biting her lip, Yuna bent down and started rifling through the contents. A water bottle, a few granola bars, a sleeping bag, and most troubling of all, a travel journal whose handwriting matched the research notes of the man she was looking for.
It was while Yuna was staring at the diary that she heard the scrape of metal behind her. Her head shot up in surprise, and for a moment she could only stare at the robot blocking the entryway. She’d been warned of the ancient city guards that remained in the ruins even if the kingdom had long since fallen. She hadn’t expected to encounter any though, and as it shot a laser attack at her, Yuna just barely managed to dive behind a row of rotting cabinets to avoid it. Gripping her staff, she leapt up afterward, remembering that robots on Spira had been weak to lightning.
“Thundara!” The spell shot down from the ceiling and struck the guard, seeming to briefly stun it, so Yuna didn’t waste any time. Snatching up the torn backpack, she ducked under the huge robot and ran as fast as she could back towards the entrance to the temple. Yuna could hear that she was being chased, but she didn’t dare slow down to look as she made it back outside and onto the path in front of the ruins.
Headlights were barreling towards her as a large machina vehicle made its way down the path towards her. Yuna vaguely remembered from her time in Sonora that it was called a truck, and she desperately waved her arms at the older man behind the wheel. Hopefully he’d slow down and help her escape.
Watching the steep cliffs at times, Cid continued his merry way down the… well, he would not even call this a road, it did seem at times that either carts or otherwise been at some point in certain locations. Some old scrape-marks did remind him of certain things. Still, this road was nowhere car-friendly and anyone without a good feel for driving off-road would definitely plummet to their deaths in some locations. "Hope there even are roads," he grumbled as he tried to look further ahead, but looking around some corners was difficult and he thought he had seen it about all at this point.
Further down it seemed this would come perhaps out at the ruins below, "them ruins don't look like they seen much folk in a good long while," he muttered as he kept switching gears while driving down the path. It didn't take him too long to get a good handle on the truck with the terrain, it reminded him a little of the good old times. He honestly was glad he had filled the tank before he left town. It wasn't likely for him push the truck, even if he had been young the idea of pushing a truck even with good roads was not appealing in any way possible.
As the truck got down some sounds started to catch his ears, thunder? Cid still continued to drive onward, but considering the skies, he doubted the sound was from the weather, probably magic… if I'm encountering any monsters, I'll probably need a good escape route, he thought to himself as he was looking at his surroundings. He was happy he had gotten to a bigger area and more possible ways rather than a narrow pathway with the only escape route being tumbling down to a most likely quick death… or a horrific painful one if unlucky.
Cid grumbled at the mere thoughts before his eyes widened a little, rather than a daemon or some other sort of thing, a woman popped up. Seeing her wave her arms, she slowed down towards a halt before noting the sound of something coming after, likely still in the ruins. Popping his head through the window he yelled: "get in!" He switched gears as he prepared to drive backward and then take a second path possibly to the left and hope to get away from here before whatever followed her… a mech? he thought he noted the 'creature', a mechanical monstrosity… Well, before that caught up to them.
Yuna note;; Will be interesting to have Cid in a fight, I did prepare in case he did fight as well, but he is old.

[attr=class, bulk] To Yuna’s relief, the truck slowed to a stop next to her, and she was running towards it even before the older man behind the wheel yelled at her to get in. The machina vehicle was high enough off the ground that Yuna had to jump slightly to make it into the worn leather seat, but she only paused long enough to make sure that her skirt wouldn’t get caught in the door before she slammed it shut behind her.
“Thank you so much,” she said, her breath coming out too fast since she’d run all the way out of the ruins. “I heard this area was known for its ancient guards. I just didn’t think I’d run into one.”
The man threw the truck in reverse so quickly that Yuna lurched forward, and she took the opportunity to make sure that her staff and the bloodied bag she’d found inside the temple were both accounted for. Thankfully she didn’t seem to have lost anything during the chase, and as he turned the vehicle down a side road, Yuna started to breathe a sigh of relief.
Of course that was when a thump completely rattled the car as something leapt into the truck bed.
Yuna let out a small squeak of surprise and needlessly glanced in the rearview mirror. She already had an idea of what would be there after all. “I’ll…see what I can do!” Coming from Spira, cars were not her strong suit, but she managed to find the lever that cranked open the window pretty easily. Leaning her upper half out of the truck window, she aimed her staff back at the giant mech while her hair whipped around her face in the wind.
“Blizzara!” While machina might be weak to thunder, she didn’t want to accidentally damage the vehicle too, so Yuna went with ice this time. Hopefully the robot would just freeze and be flung off the back. Hopefully.
