Radiance in Bloom
Tired as she was, there was no stopping the smirk she had from her little bout of mischief. Maybe she'd tell him later that whatever said statue was worth or what people were saying, didn't matter to her. Well, in more clear terms that is, she did thank him after all and she meant it. After all, she was seeing him for who he really was and their similar experiences. With Caius help, she was able to see clearly through the fog that surrounded her time on Zephon to date.
...Speaking of dates, her vagueness was largely a playful ruse pertaining to dates. A fun way to see what was beneath the exterior. If Lumina was to be honest, it only felt like a date once their hearts connected unexpectedly. Not that any feelings so far were romantic, if she scrutinized it, they weren't platonic either. Just something curious, different from what she'd seen thus far. It lacked the possessive feel she could faintly acquaint to the one she'd lost. Where pity had led to wanting to take care of someone outside her family, without making them a pseudo-sibling or student.
There was something else, as she caught herself staring at Caius. He'd mention they weren't lacking in time to spend together which left her with a feeling of uncertainty. She was tempted to ask if he was sure but the idea of asking a question like that, made her feel...insecure. What would Lightning do? It didn't matter anymore, if she remained indecisive, she'd be trapped in the past, forever. "Claire I can understand. She's strangely perceptive but Serah? I must be in really bad shape, emotionally; if Serah got in on this too. She's usually more protective. She'd have insisted on cooking a big dinner, inviting you over and then awkwardly trying to nudge us together." of course, she was really just trying to avoid addressing the matter of her sister and twin loving her.
For there was never any doubt in her heart about such. Serah had been working hard to be the one to protect her this time and keep Claire out of trouble. Most importantly, she did want the twins to live life how they wanted to. Something which came easy for Claire, because she had forgiven herself. "I haven't really forgiven myself, is the problem. I ignored my Mother's wishes and chose to take care of Serah the way I thought was best. Like I knew better than an adult. I was Claire's age when it happened. I wanted to grow up so fast. It isn't enough to provide for someone or to ensure their future. I was...emotionally distant from Serah and I wasn't myself. I can't help but feel like I sent her running into her fiancé's arms all on my own. Now she's sent you here, that's..." she smiled and then she laughed, it was quite a turn of events.
"Alright then. Let's go somewhere besides my place. I don't want to accidentally destroy my house with a power surge. Oh and I won't collapse on you~ I promise." carefully, she stood up from the bench and extended her right hand for Caius to take.
"Stop this at once! You are meant to be alone." there was that voice in her head, shrill and condescending. Lumina's self-loathing fueled it, making her feel weak and fragmented, left room to grow and conquer. By accepting the faults of her past, all that led her here, good and bad; now she could live life for herself, as she had desired in her former world.

The Dragonblades
"Call it as you like. They clearly care" Caius pointed out, not hearing out her attempts to deter them from the point of it. "Perhaps we can all have dinner together sometime however, if that is your preference. Serah and I were supposed to go for lunch to discuss business, but she ended up almost burning her food because she forgot she put it in, so I ended up just helping her make dinner instead" he mused aloud at that. How she had forgotten she had just put on food when he'd shown up, when they were supposed to be going out for lunch, he didn't know.
Lumina began to talk as though she had a mother herself and wasn't a part of "Lightning" given life, and that confused Caius for a moment until he seemed to make the connection that she was referring to her own "Lightning" memories. From before she became Lumina. Talk about confusing. But he did at least understand, to some extent. Even if he couldn't empathise.
"Wanting to grow up fast is far better than being made to grow up fast, at the very least. And I'm sure Serah knows that you meant well" Caius did try to provide some matter of perspective, unwittingly revealing a bit about himself in the process. "She seems happy with her fiance. The only issue being he's not here right now. You may not forgive yourself, but if she's happy with where she is, I think you did alright. We always want things to go differently than how they did in almost every scenario. It's natural."
Would he have spared those bandits' lives now? With the knowledge he'd gained since? Did he wish that had gone differently? That they'd made a child an accessory to a pack of murderers, then were surprised when that child turned the blade on them?
A voice deep down told him no. If he could not stop the death of his family, then he would not have stopped what came next.
Lumina held out her hand, then. Not her arm, but her hand. While he looked perplexed a moment, Caius decided to humor her and took her hand in kind. At least now it wouldn't look so strange. Bound to fuel a few rumors, however.

Radiance in Bloom
They did care, it made her remember a long talk Serah and herself had. The focus of said discussion was a fading memory, a love or at the very least, a blooming crush; that she developed here. That was something she'd never done before but she could remember how happy Serah was. The advice she'd given, much of it was becoming clear, she really was excited to have the chance to share in something so...normal, as sisters. This made her nod in agreement with Caius, the proof of their love was in the pudding.
"That sister of mines, she's the cook in the family too. She's really been branching out, embracing life here, doing what she didn't have the opportunity to do before...Hmm, let me think on that preference for a moment." the idea of having him over for dinner seemed pretty normal at first blush. Honestly, it was probably the Farron family way except... When they tried that with Snow, it didn't work out so well. The fault was entirely her own, 'worst birthday ever' that's what she called it. Serah had grown up and she'd lost control of their family unit. Possessive, a word she remembered thinking about during her talk with Serah. Was that how she "loved" others?
"That's not love, Lumina...you're incapable of loving anyone. You're only a fragment, that which was given autonomy by Chaos, can only be Chaos~" The taunts in her mind were growing and just for a brief moment, she seemed to blank out. Glimpsing something she hadn't seen since the end of her world, Claire's inner world. Where she had dragged Lightning to many a time, so they could speak without Bhunivelze knowing. This time, that frozen throne was pitch black, with tentacles swaying all over. The throne...was alive and in the middle of the platform, stood Lumina who looked upon it with horror.
When she came to, she looked a bit bewildered. Lumina hadn't been on the receiving end of that after all. Thankfully she caught what Caius said about the desire to grow up fast, that Serah was happy with Snow. "Considering I had to take care of that big lug she calls fiancé, for centuries... They don't do very well apart." she stressed I, as if to say "as Lumina", she'd opt to not tell Caius that she inadvertently tortured Snow too. A liiiitle payback for just whisking her sister from under her nose, perhaps.
"You're right though, Serah does know I meant well. She doesn't want me to dwell on such shortcomings, we had that talk here in Zephon. It's just hard to let that remorse go, sometimes. Besides, wanting to grow up so fast was my way of dealing with being made to grow up fast. Otherwise, the social workers could have separated Serah and I when we were younger." adults in her life seemed to just do the bare minimum. Never truly committing to what was required. How could she trust them?
"You can't trust anyone, you're all alone, Lumina. Always have been. Zephon is not so different..." All this doubt and inner turmoil, at the very least, she didn't want to bring this back to the house. Not until she could self-diagnose whatever it was.
Admittedly, there was a moment once Caius took her hand, where Lumina looked visibly surprised. It was her intention to hold hands yet some doubt that he would take it, must have been present. She couldn't help but look away shyly for just a moment as her memories went back to her talk with Serah. She distinctly wanted to avoid going on a date, the thought of doing such was more terrifying than anything she had faced, whether it was as Lightning or trying to guide her other self through the conspiracy she concocted to overthrow Bhunivelze.
Now, she was wondering why she was so afraid before. She looked so happy, despite blushing, that she could hear her heart beating rapidly. The answer came as she briefly looked around. What she was afraid of, was Serah seeing her on a date. She'd practically turned into an old Matchmaker back then and nothing official had even happened! She couldn't have her kid sister see her on a date, that was so embarrassing, so... not cool! So, Lumina thanked the Old Gods that Serah wasn't around to SEE THIS MOMENT.
"...Plaisir de Magicka." she replied finally, in a softer tone that one would not expect of her more mature voice. "It's the place I wanted to go, for my first date ever." This was really happening and Lumina had no idea why she took this so casually earlier. Bluffing, that's what it was, she was bluffing and failed.
To think she'd opened up so easily to a stranger and didn't consider much of anything, until this very moment. Clearly, this had been some much needed therapy. Something else occurred to her, the idea of dinner. She'd resolved what she preferred as she slowly turned to look to Caius properly. "About that dinner...This is...probably going to sound a bit selfish..."not that she ever got to be selfish much!
"...I'd rather...have you to myself...j-just for a little while..." now that she'd thoroughly embarrassed herself for a year's worth, in a single day. She could take comfort in knowing that her sisters wouldn't be privy to seeing this. Those two were much too perceptive, they'd read her feelings the moment she sat down at the dinner table. Probably even before Caius arrived. Then they'd run with it before she even could acknowledge her feelings, whatever this was.

The Dragonblades
Caius was still learning the ins and outs of the strange family Farron. However, what he did know was that by what he had seen of Claire and Serah’s impression of Lumina, they cared for her greatly. Claire had gone out of her way to ensure that he got all dressed up for what he was told was just to get to meet her. And Serah, as it turned out, was very much on board with this plan. So yeah. He got the impression that they did in fact care. How many “dates” Claire intended for him, he had no idea. What the intention of them was, he also had no idea. But with Lumina, it at least sounded like an attempt to help her meet people again after what she had been through.
While Lumina thought on where she wanted to go, or at least that’s how Caius interpreted it, she talked about how Serah had stepped up as a cook, and had gotten to do what she hadn’t been able to in the old world. Caius couldn’t help the slightest smile at that. “I seem to find more in common with your family by the day” he cheeked softly. “Not the cooking, I mean. I don’t really know how to cook beyond with a fire. I used to help back home, but… That was over a decade ago. And Torensten’s cooking utensils are different still. But with getting to do things that I hadn’t thought possible in my own world” he brought up then. “Being able to travel freely, explore the world, meet and interact with people. Actually have a decent meal here and there that isn’t cup noodles...” he mused aloud, though remembered to note: “Don’t get me wrong. Cup Noodles are delicious, I’ll treat you sometime. But I became a little sick of them being the only food that wasn’t monster meat and dry rations for the better part of eight years. Food under the King was a little better, but not by much with limited resources. Still…”
He gestured down at his garb. “Back home, I’m not getting all dressed up to meet the sister of a teenager I’ve struck a fellowship with. I still fall asleep forgetting to remove my armor sometimes.”
But Caius eventually noticed that Lumina seemed to have spaced out. He didn’t say anything, not at first. He’d said a lot and maybe he should be offended that she zoned out, but he did, again, say a lot. He was feeling a bit self-conscious, however. Lumina didn’t acknowledge it and neither did he. She then talked about Serah and her fiancé, and how she indeed was made to grow up too fast. He forgot sometimes that the three of them were over a century old, technically.
“As was I” Caius brought up at that. “Though my case was different in that I lost my family when I was young. I didn’t have anybody left to be separated from and didn’t trust enough to form attachments again” he added. “Growing up that quickly isn’t easy, by any means. But I’m glad that at the least, things turned out alright for you.”
She seemed… Surprised. When Caius took her hand. He blinked twice. Wasn’t that what she wanted? She looked away shyly. Had he done something wrong? His confusion and concern actually made him squeeze her hand even harder. Which probably didn’t help the situation at all.
“Plasir de Magicka?” he echoed then. Was that the place she wanted to go? “You will have to forgive me, I am not actually super accustomed to all the places in Torensten. I have not been in the city long enough at a time to actually explore it properly. I usually travel, or am at work."
First date and already bringing up her date with the old guy. Was that normal? Caius had no idea if that was normal. It didn't feel normal. Though the confusing talk continued when Lumina declined a group dinner, instead choosing to... Want to have him to herself for a little while? He blinked a few times, trying to process her meaning. But ultimately took it as just wanting to spend more time getting to know one another. Which wasn't off the mark per se, but...
"I understand. I'm happy to do this again until you're comfortable, if you wish" he responded at that. Why she wanted to get to know him more before sharing a dinner table with him and her sisters when he already knew her sisters well, he didn't know. But if that's what she wanted, he would oblige. "Perhaps you can help me find this place you want to go? I understand if you're too tired to lead the way. Just... Help me out as much as you can."

"Reflection"
Radiance in Bloom
"If you keep that up, you might just become part of the Farron family." Lumina admits, mostly thinking aloud. She seemed to have pulled her punch a bit, though the reason as to why was uncertain. He had caught onto her spacing out but strangely, she had caught one specific part. She mouthed it in some surprise, cup noodles. This and his lack of cooking ability was retained in her subconscious, along with the basics surrounding that.
Likewise, although she was a bit distant; she smiled genuinely at the mention of him getting dressed up to meet the sister of a teenager he'd become friends with. Bit by bit, he'd given her a lot to think of and it was clear she was working through it based on her eyes. Had she turned out alright? Setting aside her accomplishments, likewise, setting aside his accomplishments, were either of them "alright"? She found herself frowning, as Lumina tended to have rather high expectations...of herself. She held herself to standards ordinary people couldn't reach but her focus was always narrow. Trapped in tunnel vision, chasing after distant light.
Carefully, such thoughts lost their place for a time as emotions ran rampant. This was a rare thing, given how controlled she was, well how controlled Lightning was. Lumina, was not the lesser parts, despite the emotions that she was known for. Merely the part that made Light a person. This rare glimpse of humanity came when she felt him squeeze her hand, as she inadvertently giggled and squeezed back. In turn, when she had looked back, though blushing she seemed completely different. Happy was a word, except that happiness was so potent, overflowing and rather youthful. There was some clear energy too, like she caught a second wind and it left her very vibrant, even as she silently looked him in the eyes.
Seemingly, this happiness proved as a buffer, as while she was a bit shy admitting her intentions, the embarrassment seemed to roll off her shoulders. Better yet, Caius' understanding and being willing to do this again, until she was comfortable seemingly uplifted her spirits further. She was tempted to ask if he spoiled Claire like this but felt that would ruin the mood for one and two, she doubted it. This was different and while she couldn't put her finger on it (entirely due to inexperience), it did leave her momentarily speechless.
"I've never been there." Lumina confesses with a soft chuckle. "I heard about it in passing at first. Then someone was kind enough to give me the pamphlet. If I remember correctly, there should be an easy way to get there from here." taking a moment to comb her free hand through the fringes of her hair, she looked about before gesturing to the road in question.
"How could you be in this city and not know the sights. Are you that much of a workaholic? I thought I was bad~" she seemed well enough to tease him again but in fairness, it was her job to know key locations in cities she did business with. Serah had been her motivation for learning as much as she could about parts of Zephon, with a strong maternal instinct to keep her safe no matter the odds. Though that motivation aside, there was something wonderful about the simplicity to it.
Taking her time to guide him, she began to recall the pitch for their destination. "Plaisir de Magicka is a park that focuses on letting those without magical prowess experience the joys of magic using crystals. I'm in the magic crystals business, among others. I've got a few letters begging me to come see them in action. I kept declining, due to work." depriving herself from going wasn't due to being busy naturally.
Lumina wanted to go with someone special. That was the sentiment in her heart, at least for the first time. It'd be fine to go with friends and family on subsequent visits, sure but not for the first. She felt reassured of that once they arrived at the entrance to the park. "Perfect place for my first ever date. Supposedly, even magic users can learn a thing or two here. I'll try to keep an open mind."

The Dragonblades
"At this rate, Claire will start telling me to marry in" Caius couldn't help the joke. Considering he was almost already part of it at this point and Claire was putting him on "dates" with people she considered her "sisters", the joke wasn't that off the mark. Lumina didn't comment on his lack of cooking skills or his offer to treat her to cup noodles, and he figured it was just do do with her spacing, so he didn't comment further. She did however, squeeze back. So at least it seemed like she was alright, which let him visibly relax a bit now that the concern had been settled. Her overall demeanor seemed to have changed... Though Caius wasn't able to pinpoint the specifics.
It was, however, as though her exhaustion from her rather dramatic and flashy transformation had disappeared. Speaking of, Caius had been trying to move them a bit more quickly while still respecting the fact she was exhausted and not pushing her too much too fast. The flashy show had caught attention, and between that and the fact Caius' statue was right there, he didn't really want to interrupt the conversation with, well. Interruptions. He kept a little closer because of that, ducking his head a little to blend in better with Lumina. Her hair color, he'd figured, would be more striking in comparison to his own and be more what held attention to the average set of eyes. Which would allow him to blend in more easily if he used her as cover.
Though what she said next gave him pause, and he looked at her quizzically when she did. That she had never actually been there. Which would mean that she'd never been on a date herself. Which... Couldn't be possible, right? Her sisters had made it clear she had been in a romantic entanglement before. Didn't people do dates first? Wasn't that the point of dates, usually? It made no logical sense. Caius had clearly been mistaken about her meaning in relation to the place, but considering what little he knew, it was little wonder. But while he wanted to ask, he didn't want to call her out on this either. Not in relation to the one who had disappeared. He didn't want to prod too painfully. So he'd have to choose his words carefully.
"You can't tell me you've never been on a date before. You, of all people? Never had what I am sure has been many a person take enough of an interest to want to engage in that fashion? Just because I'm inexperienced doesn't mean you have to pretend to be" Caius teased, hoping that was the best way possible to sate his curiosity without hurting Lumina. She had just gone through a lot, emotionally. But it was strange that she acted as though this were her first date. Even if she had been, until now, quite wishy washy on whether it had been or not. Why were people so confusing? Why were the Farron sisters confusing especially?
At least she knew where the place was, so he nodded as he began to go where she guided him. He rolled his eyes playfully when she asked how he couldn't know the sights. "I know them better than before, since my co-leader went on her very long vacation which... Really hasn't been a vacation at all and more of a working one. But I still spend a fair amount of time at work, aye" Caius responded at that. "A lot of people depend on the Dragonblades. And the Dragonblades depend on me to ensure they get to where they're needed, and that their needs are met as well. So I need to do my part."
Actually speaking like a leader for once, even if he wouldn't see it that way. He listened as she described this park. He did recall hearing of something like that... "Right, I think I recognize it from something I read" Caius mused aloud after having no doubt read the notes that his own writer had made, for the sake of writer to character convenience. She also mentioned the letters she got, which she rejected. "So many requests you actually reject them? My point has been made, Miss Lumina Farron" Caius teased again, seeming to at least be getting more into the rapport between them as it went on.

"Reflection"
Radiance in Bloom
Lumina knew he was joking, so why did she briefly blush and feel her stomach tie up into knots? The idea of marriage had different connotations in her life prior. Whether it was her parents own and their parenting style or Serah's pending one to Snow. The idea was not pleasant previously and that was putting it mildly. Now? What had the idea morphed into, Lumina felt it way too soon to find out. She wanted to lock that concept behind a door. Especially as it made her heart race. "...If you give her that idea, Serah and herself will really plan one out..." Lumina admits, meekly. In fact, she could see their expressions in her mind and her cheeks felt rather hot.
Perhaps that was why Lumina didn't immediately realize that he'd gotten closer. A reaction that only exasperated her current physical ailments. Certainly a strange feeling for a first date, given it wasn't nervousness--- She paused, looking at Caius before shaking her head. "Whether it was centuries of looking rather young and causing a fair bit of mischief or as a single 'Mom'. Didn't exactly have time to go out on dates back then." Lumina admits with a whimsical sigh.
"I've only gotten as far as...confessing my feelings and having my feelings returned. Moments after we arrived in Torensten...gone. I seem to recall he had a knack for running off but this was different. That makes it...worse, I guess..." her voice was strained, cracking at the end before she bit her bottom lip. Closing her eyes, she tried and failed to remember, only the pain gripped her. When she opened her eyes, she gave a faint smile, though it was rather sad.
"So, this is really my first. Yes, I'm...quite inexperienced. That said...I do know how to cook quite well. I can make you a proper bowl of ramen, different flavours, complete ingredients." she remarks with a faint, knowing giggle. Her mood seemed to recover quite well given her remark about him being a workaholic. To Lumina's surprise while he did admit to such, his explanation was quite moving. He sounded like a leader, with a distinct quality that she'd wanted to see from Snow when he was 'playing hero' with Nora. There was no doubt about Caius' commitment to the Dragonblades and being there for all the members. It left her feeling a fair bit of admiration and respect, before Lumina added, "Ah~ I see why Claire reveres you so much."
She hadn't expected the requests she received to be evidence of her being in demand. Such was where their conversation pertaining to the park went to. "No, no. That's just for business, my group is one of the suppliers so they want me to see the product in action. Though..." she paused, recollecting something and proceeded to look embarrassed. "They did expect me to bring a date, whenever they offered." no wonder she kept rejecting. Who would she bring?
Things sure changed today. "So...since we're both inexperienced, I think I should clear the air before we begin." after all, this was really happening and they'd arrive pretty soon. While Caius had wanted to avoid being around Legend Square and his haunting statue, Claire, having recollected the letters of invitation and the 'bring a date' requirement; knew she'd be recognized the moment they arrived. Her teasing about this being a date wasn't going to matter at that point.
"...I'm being serious, Ahem..." she scrunched her eyebrows for a second, audibly gulping as she pushed down the budding nervousness in the pit of her stomach.
"Caius, will you go on a date with me?"

The Dragonblades
Lumina looked like she was about to cook under her own body heat when she said that. Squinting a moment, Caius placed a hand on her forehead. She was definitely a bit hot, but didn't seem to actually be sick or even exhausted anymore. "I don't quite know how they intend to pull that one off" Caius joked at that, watching her a moment longer to ensure she was fine before they continued on. Lumina then confirmed that she had, in fact, never been on a date. She had, however, confessed her feelings and had them returned. Without any real process or dates for that matter. Caius was more than a little bit confused, but... He did recall something Sarah had said. Was this what she meant by the idea of a whirlwind romance? Love still remained a confusing thing to Caius. Though unfortunately, it appeared her lover had disappeared soon after their arrival to Torensten. Meaning, considering the Farron family had only moved to Torensten a little while ago... It was possible that this incident was quite fresh in Lumina's mind -- and heart.
She did however, brag about her cooking skill. And how she could cook "proper" ramen. Caius had thought cup noodles were pretty great, so he hadn't really thought about "proper" ramen before. "I dunno, Cup Noodles might just surprise you. Prepare it with the right things and it can get you through a good portion of the day" Caius brought up at that, though seemed to sense she was looking for something here. "I wouldn't mind giving yours a try, however. I'm open to new things."
Her talk about her ex whom had disappeared reminded him a bit of Garnet's impression of Zidane. But Lumina, she knew that the man was gone. Garnet... She hadn't seemed to accept that entirely just yet. She had said she was preparing to have to, considering the oddity of how long he had been gone. But Caius could tell that deep down, Garnet was in denial.
Lumina praised his work ethic and claimed that Claire had revered him for it. The mercenary sheepishly nodded with a shy smile in thanks at that. He never did take compliments well. It always made him feel a little awkward. Speaking of awkward, Lumina dismissed the letters as simply business. However, they did expect her to bring a date. Ah, there's the rub. Suddenly the threads began to weave, wove, and tie together to form a picture for Caius' understanding of the situation. But this picture overlooked a vast, deep spring. With waters that began to thicken as Lumina spoke further. Wanting to clear the air, as she said.
The proclamation, and question that followed -- gave Caius pause.
"Huh?"
The mercenary froze up, staring at her long and hard as he tried to process what Lumina had just said.
"Caius, will you go on a date with me?"
Had she actually said that? As in, asking seriously? She had been pretty wishy washy and jokey about this being a date, and Caius had just sort of gone along with whatever she wanted at this juncture with no real thought to her actual intentions. It seemed she had just wanted some company and was a bit of a tease about calling it a date. But this was different. She meant it this time. As this dawned on Caius, the reality of the situation did as well.
This context was completely different from Claire setting him up on a date with Sarah. Or Celes pulling him into a blind dating event only to get set up with him herself when she actually was wanting and expecting her prince or princess charming — which she’d made, very, VERY clear that Caius was not. Or being given the runaround with riddles and demanded that HE ask if he should show up to a viewing box to watch them as their “date”, only for them to never elaborate on this further. This was very cut and dry. Lumina was actually asking. There was no practical reason for it that Caius could think of, and she already was in his company should this be some matter of trap - even if he doubted Lumina was the type. She had already met Caius, already essentially secured his friendship and after that transformation had procured something of what he could apparently do for her already. They were, at present, out and about, and on a practical basis could easily go to this Magicka place without it being the context of a date. She could say to her people that it was purely platonic. Or telling HIM that despite her story before, that it was platonic. Worst case scenario, if they expected it bad enough, ask him to pass off to get them off her back. But it was not any of those things. He could tell by her expression that she was dead serious, and dead set on this.
Between this and the clear nerves behind it, not even Caius could be completely blind. Not completely anyway. He at least clued in on one thing. The only explanation was that she meant this request in an actual romantic context, wanting to make this a date to see if they were… Compatible, in a sense. And she was asking after already getting to know him a great deal. It was…
Honestly, he didn’t know how to feel. This was new. Completely uncharted and very much intimidatingly new territory for him. He was actually starting to sweat a bit - how did he even begin to process this? Much less know what to say? His grip on her hand had only tightened on accident as he tried to, pun entirely intended, come to grips with what was going on.
After a bit of a no doubt awkward silence, Caius took a deep breath as he managed a sheepish smile on one corner of his mouth, the other busy chewing the inside of his cheek.
"Aren't we already on a date?" Caius decided to tease, summoning enough confidence to muster a grin as he quickly nodded, indicating he actually was saying yes.

"Reflection"
Radiance in Bloom
Lumina gasped when Caius put a hand to her forehead, she looked surprised for a moment before averting her gaze shyly until he was done. "I'm alright, really." this seemed true physically, the problem was more with what was inside her mind. The emotions taking place seemed to isolate the intruder's voice from her mind, allowing for temporary relief. "I think you can imagine how~" as for what compelled her to take this bold step, Lumina had no idea. She knew she wanted to tease him, yet the gentle tap of her finger along the back of his ring finger, was not subtle at all! She'd just mentally screech in her mind for taking her teasing too far there.
Reprieve came when Caius remarked about the benefits of cup noodles. Lumina did consider the points he made, even nodding upon his conclusion. Some of those she had done from personal experience, especially when her schedule got hectic. On the other hand, the packaged goods weren't the best for one's health, even with mixing in other stuff. Lumina thus, made up her mind to protest this fact when Caius threw in something else. "T-tomorrow then, I'll make you some, with mostly local ingredients." there was an idea, though Provo had the more traditional ingredients. It would be better to source stuff he could acquire without fuss. Besides, she was honestly worried about his diet and her concern was showing all over her face.
Lumina's concerns seemed to continue after her...stunning revelation. At least now, her expression wasn't of worry, there was a seriousness to it, nerves and all. She felt strangely reassured when he squeezed her hand, even as she watched him process this as if his life was flashing before his eyes. His response could have been taken as incredulous but it was actually rather funny in its almost rhetorical nature. Alas if she started laughing now, that would ruin her display of intent here. This would require finesse!
"That was a platonic date." Lumina remarks, keeping a focused gaze and sincere smile. "I do apologize for being whimsical about it, I was just happy to have your company." she adds, feeling a bit guilty about it now. Her teasing did relieve some of the pressure initially and for that, things had gone well. What she hadn't anticipated was to connect so...deeply.
"...Serah said I should be honest about my feelings, in situations like these." she admits, having caught his nod of acceptance. "Now this is a romantic date." such was Lumina's conviction on the matter, that she wanted to express her desire as openly as possible. To leave no room for doubt as to her intentions. Doing such, took quite a bit from her, the rollercoaster ride of emotions and the silence from earlier, left Lumina speechless now. To occupy herself, with her left hand, a flash of light surrounded it before manifesting a crystal. Griping it gently, she produced one of the very letters she'd received.
"All set." she admits, nervously as she hadn't considered the possibilities Caius had thought over. Not that she would have, given her determination. The connotations of that were quietly seeping in, given they had arrived at the park. Showing the letter to the attendant, was like watching a bomb about to go off.
"Miss Lumina we're so glad you've finally arrived! Oh and you're in such good company, this is truly an honour!" the attendant, clearly recognized Caius. How could she not?! Also, it seemed like she speed read that letter.
"Let me get you the COUPLES CRYSTALS~!!!" as the attendant declared this, Lumina was already looking to shrink but only got as far as moving closer to Caius and slightly hiding behind him. Naturally the attendant saw how shy Lumina was acting and chose to amplify things instead.
"So, they glow a reddish pink when the two crystals are close together. If you two get separated, they become blue. Cute, huh? They can also interact with other crystals and might have some fun effects for you two to discover~! Please enjoy your stay!" at least she had... some tact. Unless...she was going to notify her boss once they went on inside.

The Dragonblades
"I think you can imagine how~” said Lumina, grazing across his ring finger. Caius blinked a few times, bless his lack of knowledge of marital affairs. Sure, he probably knew a wedding ring existed from a factual standpoint and based off stories he’d read while trying to gain knowledge of Zephonian culture back in the early days. But a lesser known part was the “ring finger” specifically. Something that formed a gap in Caius’ sphere of knowledge. So unfortunately, that one shot right over his head and to the moon. At the least, she seemed fine. Or so the pink-haired fatale insisted anyway.
But Lumina appeared strangely flustered again at the subject of food. Did he say something wrong by offering to treat her to cup noodles? Or was it accepting the offer to try her cooking? Lumina made plans on the spot right then and there, telling him to return to her home tomorrow to try her cooking. Well, that was a very abrupt request, but Caius nodded his head in agreement. “I’ll see if I can find time to drop by” he promised to that.
Lumina assured him that this was previously a platonic date, now seeming guilty for her teasing. Caius had been joking, of course. He knew what she meant and what it had been before, or he was pretty sure anyway. He just wanted to assure her it was no big deal and he was game.
Now this is a romantic date.
A sense of finality came with those words and Caius didn’t know how to respond. He just kept hold of her hand and continued on until they arrived. Though the person at reception was a bit… Overwhelming. To say the least. Good company? Did they say that to everyone? Apparently fame hadn’t quite sunk in for the mercenary just yet. “I-yes, thank you for having us” he managed out respectfully and stayed quiet throughout the explanation of the crystals. Caius blinked a few times as he heard it. These were…
“That… Explains a lot” was all he could think to say regarding the crystals. He let Lumina lead the way from there.
