Welcome one and all to our beautiful new skin! This marks the visual era of Adventu 4.0, our 4th and by far best design we've had. 3.0 suited our needs for a very long time, but as things are evolving around the site (and all for the better thanks to all of you), it was time for a new, sleek change. The Resource Site celebrity Pharaoh Leep was the amazing mastermind behind this with minor collaborations from your resident moogle. It's one-of-a-kind and suited specifically for Adventu. Click the image for a super easy new skin guide for a visual tour!
Final Fantasy Adventu is a roleplaying forum inspired by the Final Fantasy series. Images on the site are edited by KUPO of FF:A with all source material belonging to their respective artists (i.e. Square Enix, Pixiv Fantasia, etc). The board lyrics are from the Final Fantasy song "Otherworld" composed by Nobuo Uematsu and arranged by The Black Mages II.
The current skin was made by Pharaoh Leap of Pixel Perfect. Outside of that, individual posts and characters belong to their creators, and we claim no ownership to what which is not ours. Thank you for stopping by.
The invitations to the ball had come out of nowhere. Neither he or Celes knew why, but it didn't take much for them to guess. They had made powerful enemies over the last few months, and they had severely pissed said people off. This was a ruse, they both knew that. A red herring. They would be ambushed there. But if they didn't show... Their enemies had already shown that they were ruthless. And what if they had invited other persons of note there? Other Dragonblades?
His thoughts went to Yuna. Yuna was innocent. She wasn't horribly paranoid like he was. She'd likely go, and they'd likely hurt her and others. The both of them knew what they had to do, even if they didn't like it. Caius didn't understand everything involved with this formal thing at first, but Celes explained things well enough. The garb puzzled him. Growing up on a farm and then living through the apocalypse, he wasn't used to these nice, formal, fancy things. Helping Celes zip into a dress had been hell too. As had getting Caius into this... Thing he was wearing. It was a military jacket-like thing, black and lined with gold trims, that went down to his knees. It was the closest thing to formal wear that was similar to what he was used to and would be somewhat comfortable in. But it was still far too tight and restricting for his tastes, and it would impede him if - no, when - a fight broke out. Caius was a bit grumbly about having to wear these infernal things and noted that Celes' dress was even more restricting, but Celes pointed out they were custom. While he didn't like it, it was an acceptable explanation. He wore a simple mask, and he had asked Relm to tie his hair back once Celes had suggested that he needed to take a comb to it. If they weren't so easy to recognize, perhaps their enemies would have a harder time.
But god, did he not like it. He felt naked this way, unprotected no matter how tight it was. He would have preferred to be wearing armour. But one thing not even armour would have been able to protect him from was the sheer amount of people here. With no faces he could recognize, he was stranded in a sea of masks. It distracted from the beauty of the place. As striking as it was, Caius was on edge from the possibility of attack, especially now that he knew it could come from literally anywhere. And it also turned out that Caius was not a fan of tight spaces with lots of people. Not a fan at all. But Celes... She had been a comforting presence for him. She was the one person keeping him calm here when honestly, deep down he wanted to just turn and walk away. He hated this. He hated the paranoia of so many people, so many people that could turn and attack, hurt himself and Celes, hurt the people here. All under masks. So many masks. Sure, he wore a mask himself... But would they know him anyway? He stuck close to Celes, but there was bumping and jarring and suddenly, she was gone.
"Celes?" He asked again. He knew her mask, he knew her dress. Neither of them were there. Caius had already started to panic, but now with Celes gone? It didn't take long for him to turn and rush out of the large ballroom and into the open air. He didn't stop for some time, didn't even bother to look up to see where he was going. But when he did look up, all he found around him were hedges. And then it hit him. Something was watching. Perhaps waiting. Perhaps their enemies had been waiting for this moment to strike. His combat instincts had been on full alert for a full minute before he turned just when he heard rustling. Was something approaching? He didn't know if he would be able to defend himself as easily if something - or someone. Potentially even the bandits that he had been dealing with - attacked here.
Hearing it again, he turned, and flat out collided with another...
To say that Noel had been surprised by the invite would be an understatement. As far as he was aware, he had yet to make any real friends or enemies, especially the kind to invite him to such a swanky do as this! To say that he felt out of place would be a huge understatement, but he'd had to accept. He wanted to know just who had wanted him here and why. Even if that meant wearing this ridiculous blue tuxedo and somewhat ornate mask that had been left for him. Though all too familiar with the phrase 'curiosity killed the cat', Noel wasn't prepared to leave this one to lie. Besides' didn't satisfaction bring it back?
What he hadn't prepared himself for was the sheer volume of people who had also received invites and subsequently attended. He had grown up with so few people around, and then he was pretty sure he kept out of the way of most people after that (his memory was still a little fuzzy though). Unable to think with so much happening around him (not to mention a little freaked out by not being able to see anyone's faces), he had managed to find his way out and into the open, where he could breath fresh air and buy himself some thinking time. He had always thought he would have been glad to see so many people, but with not being used to it, he had found himself unsure of just how to react. He'd never thought that far ahead, though he wondered if Yeul would have been happy. As for himself, perhaps he belonged more on the side lines, though he doubted that his benefactor had invited him here just to see him suffer.
Taking in his surroundings, he noticed that there sure were a lot of hedges around here. Almost as if they had been arranged for a specific purpose, making him wonder if this was perhaps the 'Hedge Maze' he'd heard a few people mention. He couldn't imagine how getting lost in one of this would be fun, but he didn't have much time to worry about it, as someone collided into him hard, catapulting him back and almost knocking him off his feet!
"Woah, hey, watch it!", he cried out in surprise, suddenly remembering that he would be kicked out if his mask fell off and making sure that it was indeed still in place.
Caius quite nearly drew his weapon. But he knew that if he summoned it, he would both give himself away as well as potentially get himself kicked out of the event if he was caught with it by officials. He knew that he couldn't leave Celes here when the bandits might still be lurking about, so he repressed every urge to draw his weapon and be ready. He could summon it if they attacked, but he could also rely on his magic if need be. It wasn't as strong as Celes' but it was still strong.
But instead, the one that had bumped into him didn't draw a weapon or attack. Instead they yammered at him to watch it. He supposed he could have stood to watch it, considering Caius was a rather large fellow. And Caius hadn't exactly been paying much attention either. So with that, he took a deep breath, trying to calm himself as he straightened his posture. He nodded his head before bowing it.
"My apologies, I wasn't watching where I was going" Caius spoke calmly in turn, hiding his past tension best he could. "The Hedge Maze is... Interesting. I've never quite seen anything like this. God knows nothing like this existed in my world. At least, not during my lifetime" He spoke up, trying to use casual conversation to tell if he was a friend or foe. He gauged the other one's body language, trying to tell if they might attack and when. Caius wasn't one to leave much to chance.
