THE FIEND OF EARTH
Silence stretches across this once holy place. The temple is shrouded in moonlight. Lanterns flicker in the wind. It seems a night like any other, but as the moon reaches its highest peak, the peace is shattered by the cry of the earth.
The town trembles with the force of the quake. Buildings rattle, their beams groaning against the weight. Old wood splinters and gives way. From far away, the echoing of screams as half-rotten corpses stumble from the temple's catacombs, reaching with sharp, bony fingers. A dark aura emanates from the core of the temple itself as its guardians shamble forth across unstable ground.
The Fiend of Earth has awoken.

The Cries of the Gods
Harmonious: A moment of lightheadedness strikes you as the world fades into soft blues and whites. “I’ve failed." A woman's voice, soft and sorrowful. “The crystal of wind has shattered, unleashing one of evil's most feared servants. Please, bringer of light, I beg of you to go where no light shines and vanquish the Lich before all the land rots.” The premonition fades into distant wind as the world you left comes back into focus.
Chaotic: Agony. It feels as though a whip has cracked against your skull as your vision is clouded with pain in angry reds and blacks. A voice like fire burns through you. “Already this land has felt my wrath. Now, the Lich awakens. Protect him as his powers grow, and you will receive great power. Do not fail me.” A skeletal being blinds you before you awaken, head splitting with promises of strength.
Neutral: The Metaia Temple and the surrounding regions have been experiencing massive earthquakes, decaying and rotting land, and strange reapparances of people long dead. The whole area is in flux. Will you go to help those in need, or will you take the chaos as a chance to steal away with the temple’s valuables both material and mental?

Welcome
This Event will be split into two MAIN threads and SUBFORUM of other occurrences.
One thread is a puzzle/environmental based thread with its own plot focusing on finding the mythical source of the earthquakes and dry earth sweeping the Metia region. The second is an action based thread with its focus on combat and defeating the Lich.
The event subforum will also act as a place where those not involved in the main events can thread in Metaia during the disaster. All other Materia Temple threads not concerning these events should remain in the general forum.

Rules
- A member is allowed two characters, but only one per major thread. A member can use any of their characters in an unofficial event thread as long as they are not involved in a major thread.
- On their turn, each character will have FIVE days to post since the last post. You will be given one pass to skip your turn. Passing the five day mark a second time will result in your character being written out of the thread. Consequences of your character failing to post are severe and should not be taken lightly.
- Each team can hold four characters for a total of eight characters for the event.
- Content Warning: the action/Lich thread will be gruesome and dim as the fiend of earth and death should be, so writer beware.
- There will be plot rewards for those who finish the main threads, but that's a secret until the time comes.
- This event will begin on Monday, April 15th. At that point, signups will close, but any additional player led threads may be started at any time.
