The World Sight had become dangerous. Or had it always been that way? He wasn't sure. He hadn't been here before. But Caius had a job to do, either way. One that admittedly, the villagers thought he was crazy for undertaking alone. But Caius had heard this song and dance before. Oh, Mr. Mercenary! That's too dangerous for you to do alone! There's just so many giant monsters and beasties and snappies all over that place, that's too much for you! Don't you have some friends you could bring or something? The answer, of course, was no. Caius had no friends to "bring along with him". He had operated alone before the Glaives, and he had operated alone when he had come here. Of course, things had changed a little, he had been more open to accepting help when offered and had fought with others a few times... And had promised to help Aranea with taking down Ardyn when the time came, if it was possible. But Caius did not travel with others, he had always traveled alone, taken on jobs alone... Even if he knew that indeed, they were too much for him.
But he didn't look at it as terra-ble, no, he looked at it as an opportunity to get better.
But he wasn't going to wait for them to hire more mercenaries to split the bill with. These wyverns needed to go down, and they needed to go down amscray before they spread out and took away anymore lives. He had heard about the 10 year old... And that seemed to have motivated Caius further. He could admit, he had a bit of a soft spot for children. To know these things had taken and likely killed one... Well, that wasn't going to slide.
As the entrance to the World Sight came into view, Caius would re-adjust his jacket, checking his pack to ensure he had all of his essentials. The dragon egg he had taken from the cave he'd gone after with Rydia was still snug there as well. He hoped to keep it safe. In case it did have something in there. It was a shame he didn't have somewhere to leave it, but... He hadn't had a permanent home since he came here.
It had taken about two minutes since she had found the targets for Terra to regret her choice to try to take this mission on by herself, she had allowed herself a slight bit of confidence that she could handle it with her magic.......she was dead wrong! The creatures as she found out resisted her magic barely seeming fazed by it at all instead it only seemed to spurr them into greater action against tge pitiful human girl bothering them. “W-why did it have to be Wyverns?! It’s always Wyverns!” Terra says in a panic as she dives out of the way of an incoming fireball, norrowly avoing an unwanted perm job on her hair and extreme dry cleaning on her clothes. Within seconds Terra was back on her feet sprinting as fast as she could several large Wyverns in pursuit of the tiny girl. “Oh gods i can already see what my grave will say! Here lies Terra who stupidly thought she could clear a couple Wyverns not knowin it would be a full horde!” Terra yells at herself panting as she ran starting to feel fatigue setting in despite tge constant feed of adrenaline.
Terra let out a startled squeak as another fireball hit the ground just behind her, if nothing else Terra would get really good at dodging fire if she survived this if not......well it wouldn’t matter.

The sound of a fireball exploding upon impact with something would catch Caius' attention. The beating of wings could be heard as well as he would approach the cave's maw, and it was clear that this wasn't just any small couple of wyverns. There sounded like there was a whole lot of them in there, and they didn't appear to be happy he judged by the sounds he could hear within. Were they fighting amongst themselves, he wondered? While it would be unusual for a group of wyverns that size to be fighting amongst themselves on that scale if they've lived here together this long... He supposed that if it was somehow the case, Caius would be able to take advantage of the chaos in order to take them out, right? That appeared to be the best case scenario. The worst case scenario, and honestly? It was probably what was actually happening... Someone had gone in there and had gotten themselves in trouble. The more likely scenario, that. They could prove to be a liability, that would certainly be an issue. But he couldn't just leave them there either.
Caius would gingerly make his way into the cave just in time to see a young woman with green hair narrowly dodge a fireball. Originally mistaking her for Rydia, Caius would immediately draw his sword, the gunblade Lonoaw materializing from thin air in his hands. Going after the closest wyvern to her, Caius would toss his blade toward the wyvern, using the Warp Strike to disappear and re-appear in the air in front of the wyvern, going for a slash on it's scaly head before kicking his feet off it and launching himself backwards, managing to fire a shot using the blade's tip toward another of the wyverns to catch their attention and direct it toward him should the two of them need to split up. He didn't know how much damage bullets would do to a scaly monster like a wyvern, but it was worth a try.
As he would land on his feet, he would make his way toward Rydia and wrap an arm around her waist as he broke out in a run. He could tell she was fatigued but they had to get faster if they were going to clear some distance from these things. Despite fighting a dragon together, he wasn't sure if the two of them were in the realm of touching just yet, but honestly right now it didn't matter when her life was in danger.
"Rydia, you know dragon-kind are magic resistant, we went through this! How could you go after them alone? Hell, even worse, how could you go after a group of wyverns without inviting me?" Caius would scold her as he would run as fast as he could go. He would turn his head to look at her as he spoke those words, but his eyes widened when he got a better look at her face.
That wasn't Rydia.
Caius let out a surprised yelp as he would fall over, accidentally dropping her in the process as he would roll across the ground. Letting out a groan as he tried to get over his initial surprise and his soreness from hitting the ground as hard as he did. But the wyverns were still advancing on them, he knew as he would look toward her.
"This is awkward" He admitted bluntly. "I was starting to think there was only one green-haired lass in this land. Whoops."
He would crank the reloader on Lonoaw and aim it toward one of the wyverns, aiming for the head.
"I hope you'll accept this as an apology" He remarked as he would pull the trigger.
Terra had just stared to make peace with herself that this was her end, that she would be killed by the very Wyverns she had been hired to get rid of, she had hoped that maybe these Wyverns could talk.....it wasn't the weirdest thing! she recalled some talking moogles and talking cat people, why couldn't a Wyvern talk!? Things only continued to go south from here, Terra had only barely caught sight of another person coming, materializing a blade form thin air....Terra's eyes widened in surprise as he threw the weapon vanishing into thi air with it! A trick on the eyes of a soon to be dead girl, Terra thought to herself.
Terra let out a shriek of terror as she felt something grab a hold of her sweeping her off of her feet, Terra kicked clawed and fought with all of her might, if this Wyvern was going to get her she would atleast take a few scales with her! Terra's fighting stopped as she heard a voice speaking to her.....was it her father? no that wasn't right....she didn't have his magicite in this world...did this world have gods? had they already accepted her as one of their children? "Please let me go! I won't taste delicious mister Wyvern! I'm not worth eating!" Terra would say before it registered.....she couldn't feel scales.....she felt skin and clothes....? that couldn't be right she had only seen someone for a split second before the vanished! No it had to be a trick she was already dead! but if they were dead.....why were they still running? were they doomed to run away from the Wyverns for all eternity in death? was this her punishment for being mean to the innocent Wyverns?
"Wait....Rydia? Who's that? Do i have a sister who looks like me that i don;t know about? Wait Wyverns are resistant to magic!? Aaaaagggghhhh That explains why even my ice spells did nothing to them.....so much for being cold blooded reptiles...." Terra mused before letting out a startled scream as she was suddenly sent tumbling hitting her head on a rock dazing the young girl. When Terra regained all of her senses she became aware that the same man she had glimpsed was a short distance in front of her a strange blade in his hand as he spoke. awkward? what could be omre awkward then dropping the woman you are trying to rescue? Did he not realize that Terra was already worn out enough or did he feel she needed a good tumble to wake up? "My name's not Rydia! And i have had quite enough of this!" Terra says rising to her feet drawing her blade the air freezing around her free hand. "Ice flow forth that sappeth the world of life!" Terra would call out as she cast blizzard onto the Wyvern closest to her new....ally...? could he be called an ally if the first thing he did was send her for a tumble? "Don;t make me get nasty! I don't like getting nasty! in fact i detest violece but i will fight if i must!" Terra calls out a challenging tone in her voice as she directs a glare to the Wyverns.

Caius ignored the woman's prior kicking and batting at him due to the aforementioned mistaking and dropping. He also ignored her rambling while he was trying to save her skin, on account of said mistaing and dropping. But of course she wouldn't see it that way, and of course she was going to belittle and blame him for the mistake.
"I'm not Rydia!" She shouted.
"No shit!" Caius responded in kind without even the skip of a heartbeat.
"Don't make me get nasty! I don't like getting nasty! In fact i detest violence but I will fight if i must!" She called next as she aimed yet another ice spell at the wyverns.
"Yes, because I'm sure you walked into this wyvern infested cave with plans to just talk to them" Was the next bit of sass to come out of Caius' mouth as he would pull the trigger, striking the weak spot between the eyes of the wyvern. Caius may not be wholly used to social customs but the ones he knew were filled with sass and sarcasm. She would have to get used to it. The cold chill would hit the wyvern and while it didn't deal much damage, it would divide it's attention between Rydia and Caius, who immediately took advantage of it to set the blade back to blade mode and slash toward it's eyes, trying to deal damage to where he could without the scales negating most of the damage.
"There's more coming your way, Not-Rydia!" Caius would call out to the green-haired girl, seeing as the only name she gave was "Not Rydia." It was there that one of the other Wyverns would come up from above him, and Caius would duck down, his shoulder being slashed by it's claws. "Fuck!" Caius would growl as he would hold his shoulder, watching blood drip from the slash wounds. The wyvern would turn and follow up, opening it's maws and Caius watched as it's glands would begin to light up, indicating heat and begin to prepare a spray of flame... And it was there that he had an idea.
"Hey, Not-Rydia! Strike now! Fire your spell at it's mouth! Hurry! It might be our only chance!" Caius called, seeing the opportunity. He didn't have enough experience in magic to fire a spell of his own as quickly as Not-Rydia could. She was his best bet here. And this was a long shot, as he could just be fried for dinner instead, but... If these things were anything like the dragon he had fought with Rydia...
