Welcome one and all to our beautiful new skin! This marks the visual era of Adventu 4.0, our 4th and by far best design we've had. 3.0 suited our needs for a very long time, but as things are evolving around the site (and all for the better thanks to all of you), it was time for a new, sleek change. The Resource Site celebrity Pharaoh Leep was the amazing mastermind behind this with minor collaborations from your resident moogle. It's one-of-a-kind and suited specifically for Adventu. Click the image for a super easy new skin guide for a visual tour!
Final Fantasy Adventu is a roleplaying forum inspired by the Final Fantasy series. Images on the site are edited by KUPO of FF:A with all source material belonging to their respective artists (i.e. Square Enix, Pixiv Fantasia, etc). The board lyrics are from the Final Fantasy song "Otherworld" composed by Nobuo Uematsu and arranged by The Black Mages II.
The current skin was made by Pharaoh Leap of Pixel Perfect. Outside of that, individual posts and characters belong to their creators, and we claim no ownership to what which is not ours. Thank you for stopping by.
The other person looks honest, but Ace knows better than to trust anything like that -- he studies Setro with a bold, open look, his eyes boring into the other as if searching for something that he's not sure is there. He runs through the mental checklist of things to be on the lookout for. The other has a weapon, so the chances of him being a civilian are low, not to mention the shield that he has on hand; not only are they not a civilian, but they're no low-ranking soldier, either. Unless, of course, normal soldiers here are outfitted in finery like this. Somehow he doubts that any reliable military would summon a budget massive enough for something like that, so it's better to assume that this man is a special case. Now, to analyze the other's posture as quickly as he can--
Ace is so busy overanalyzing his situation like a good little soldier that he nearly misses the other speaking to him. So... this Setro isn't from here. It doesn't take an expert in Orience's topography to know that there isn't a place like this, at least not within the confines of Rubrum. The thing that Ace finds the most odd is that he seems to be alone, but perhaps that'd just been an accident -- his siblings may well be nearby. He reaches up to his ear automatically to check his COMM.
Which appears to not be present. Damn.
He wants to retort with we're not friends but somehow that doesn't seem like the most helpful of interjections in this scenario. As a gesture of goodwill, though, Ace will offer his name.
"Ace," he responds. "...you seem to know a lot about this place."
End report.

Rising from death, the Vermilion Bird keeps the flame in Ace's heart whole and hearty. He had given his all to the people of Orience, so his first thought upon feeling ground beneath him is this -- why have I returned? And, no less, to a place that he scarcely remembers, or perhaps doesn't even recognize at all...
There is dirt under his fingernails. It's an overwhelming, prevailing thought somehow. Miniature pebbles and small flakes of shellac make their home burrowed under the keratinous edge, and as he slowly starts to flex his fingers back to life, bits of debris fall from under the loose white edge of nail. His toes feel cramped in his too-small shoes, his feet having swollen with edema after too much use. He pronates and supinates his feet, feeling the indentation of fluid-filled bubbles just under the surface of the skin against the stitched, hard edges of his dress shoes. And, at last, his head pounds, the rush of too little blood squeaking in his ears, the sound of a circulatory system desperate to begin again after the sludging stop of a fitting end.
Vitals seem to be intact. There's no blood anywhere that's visible on the ground, which is a start. Ace's body hurts all over, to be sure, but not in the way that internal bleeding does, which is a state he's all too familiar with after hundreds of millions of deaths. This feels like the waking up from the slumber of death, alright, which means... he's better, but not altogether there yet. Bleary grey-blue eyes blink open to catch sight of a strange man crouched down next to him.
Ace is quick to get to his feet, leaping up with blindingly acrobatic speed. His hands go to his pack automatically to feel for cards left within, though it may have been quicker to simply try to summon them out of thin air (he must be addled in the head, he must be sick to be prioritizing himself for a moment over the harsh pull of a weapon from where it never was). His eyes stay trained on the stranger with an uncanny, steely gaze, and notably rest on Setro's hands to see what he plans to do next.
End report.

I. BASICS
FULL NAME:: "Ace" (this is a codename/functions as his name. His real name is confidential, and unknown to him.) NICKNAMES:: None GENDER:: Trans male AGE:: 17 (16 is listed on the wiki, but he aged over the course of the game according to the timeline.) HEIGHT:: 5'6 (168 cm) HAIR/EYES/SKIN:: Blond/blue/pale DISTINGUISHING MARKS:: Not a mark so much as a behavior, but he'll fall asleep in pretty random places. Otherwise, he kinda just looks like your average kid until you get up close enough to see exactly how agile he is.
II. PERSONA
Ace has the kind of gaze that will bore a hole right through your soul, and most of the rest of his personality matches this phenomenon too. He's a rather serious type, focused on whatever task is at hand. He's one of those kids who would be considered mature for his age, and he takes great pride in that label -- very occasionally, however, the mask of maturity slips in favor of him making a risky move. Though nearly every risk he takes is calculated, he's very aware that things could go wrong at any moment, and so tries to come up with contingency plans on the spot to deal with that inevitability.
Though he is typically very aloof towards anyone other than his family, he's actually quite sensitive and will take things said about him to heart. Due to representing the power of acceptance, he has a strong tendency to immediately take things as reality and not try to fight against it without outside encouragement. This can be helpful at times, as he's able to take stressful situations in stride, but also means that once he's accepted something as being true, it can be very hard to shake him out of any viewpoint that doesn't narrow in on it.
Ace has a strong affinity for the dead, despite the Vermilion Bird Crystal causing everyone in Rubrum to instantly forget memories of the departed. While he accepts that sacrifice is apart of war (and may bluntly say this at times, much to the chagrin of more socially aware types), he's also able to understand the profound loss that comes with a person's death, and will often wonder about the lives of those who have come before. He's a chronic overanalyzer and is very fidgety, though he's far more likely to be concerned about a specific situation and its circumstances rather than something that he might've said to cause any issues.
Ace finds it very difficult to make friends, but forms hard attachments quickly if there is mutual interest present in a relationship of any kind. He is exceedingly loyal, often blindly so, and will prioritize the wellbeing of a friend over nearly anything -- barring the mission and the crystal-state of Rubrum, which always comes first. Ultimately, he will make any sacrifice that he needs to in order to secure the future of his country, whether said country is for or against him.
III. HISTORY
Not much is known of Ace's history, to himself or to any other. Even his military documentation began only when he joined Class Zero at age eight, under the watchful eye of Rubrum's Head of Sorcery, Arecia Al-Rashia. It's as though he was never a person before he was a military machine, and for that, he believes he may be better off. With the great blessing of the Crystal, all he remembers of a time before his storied military career is the feeling of dancing.
He presumed that he was orphaned in one of the many border skirmishes on the edge of Rubrum. The limited information in his dossier confirmed as much for him, and he'd shed a few tears over it -- but Arecia was quick to gather him into her arms and tell him that everything would be alright. It was from then on that he would attach himself to her as a flea to a beast, and he found himself bonding with his new classmates -- and new siblings -- with surprising speed. Perhaps it was the stress of having been removed from his familiar situation, or the desire to make new connections. No matter the origin, he found himself firmly and deeply involved with the heart of Rubrum's special ops.
Ace would spend the next eight years training rigorously, hidden away from the eyes of Rubrum until Class Zero's part in the resistance, Operation Apostle, was ready to be revealed. Ace adapted quickly to the field work, making use of his singular friendly connection outside his family in the form of Izana Kunagiri, a fellow soldier of Rubrum. Meanwhile, the crystal-state of Milites made its advance further into Rubrumite territory, culminating in an attack on its capital, Akademeia, which Class Zero then found themselves responsible for liberating. Izana passed away during this battle, and it was then that Ace got his first true taste of loss -- but, he'd shove it down, and move forward.
After the capital's liberation, Class Zero was formally admitted to the ranks of Akademeia as Agito Cadets. Ace more or less minded his own business, and the business of his class. Two new additions were made to the class in the form of childhood friend duo Machina Kunagiri (formerly of Class Second) and Rem Tokimiya (formerly of Class Seventh), and Ace would only cautiously approach them after a warning from Arecia not to instruct them on the nature of Class Zero's ability to circumvent the magic-blocking crystal jammers of the Militesi Empire. Nonetheless, he would privately long for their friendship, but continue to simply keep to himself and his family.
Over the course of many battles, betrayals, and near-misses, Class Zero would help Rubrum regain their territory from the encroaching Militesi Empire. Yet, despite their best efforts, the looming threat of Tempus Finis (the apocalypse) lurked, and inevitably came. Class Zero became the only thing standing between the world and certain destruction, and they performed their duties admirably... at a high cost.
When the end came, Class Zero would gather around each other and discuss what they could have done, were they able to live past this. Ace, for his part, encouraged the discussion, but had nothing to contribute -- in his mind, they had done all that they were meant to, and their ultimate, glorious purpose had been fulfilled. All in a life's work, and so, it was time to die.
He would join the others in forming the banner of Rubrum with their weapons and red mantles, and joining hands with his brothers and sisters, he would pass away into the realm from which no one truly returns.
IV. AUTHOR
PLAYER ALIAS:: Fray OTHER CHARACTERS:: Amidatelion ROLE-PLAYING EXPERIENCE:: Quite a lot of it, and Ace in particular has been a muse of mine for close to seven or eight years now. NOTES FOR CONSIDERATION:: Someone adopt this child and teach him how to have an existence outside of being Rubrum's greatest little war machine. Also, just a general note that I am not open to shipping him with other Class Zero members that were raised by Arecia, as he considers them his siblings. Machina (and Rem as like a QPP or partners-in-law situation) is a possibility, however.
