II. PERSONA
Ace has the kind of gaze that will bore a hole right through your soul, and most of the rest of his personality matches this phenomenon too. He's a rather serious type, focused on whatever task is at hand. He's one of those kids who would be considered mature for his age, and he takes great pride in that label -- very occasionally, however, the mask of maturity slips in favor of him making a risky move. Though nearly every risk he takes is calculated, he's very aware that things could go wrong at any moment, and so tries to come up with contingency plans on the spot to deal with that inevitability.
Though he is typically very aloof towards anyone other than his family, he's actually quite sensitive and will take things said about him to heart. Due to representing the power of acceptance, he has a strong tendency to immediately take things as reality and not try to fight against it without outside encouragement. This can be helpful at times, as he's able to take stressful situations in stride, but also means that once he's accepted something as being true, it can be very hard to shake him out of any viewpoint that doesn't narrow in on it.
Ace has a strong affinity for the dead, despite the Vermilion Bird Crystal causing everyone in Rubrum to instantly forget memories of the departed. While he accepts that sacrifice is apart of war (and may bluntly say this at times, much to the chagrin of more socially aware types), he's also able to understand the profound loss that comes with a person's death, and will often wonder about the lives of those who have come before. He's a chronic overanalyzer and is very fidgety, though he's far more likely to be concerned about a specific situation and its circumstances rather than something that he might've said to cause any issues.
Ace finds it very difficult to make friends, but forms hard attachments quickly if there is mutual interest present in a relationship of any kind. He is exceedingly loyal, often blindly so, and will prioritize the wellbeing of a friend over nearly anything -- barring the mission and the crystal-state of Rubrum, which always comes first. Ultimately, he will make any sacrifice that he needs to in order to secure the future of his country, whether said country is for or against him.

III. HISTORY
Not much is known of Ace's history, to himself or to any other. Even his military documentation began only when he joined Class Zero at age eight, under the watchful eye of Rubrum's Head of Sorcery, Arecia Al-Rashia. It's as though he was never a person before he was a military machine, and for that, he believes he may be better off. With the great blessing of the Crystal, all he remembers of a time before his storied military career is the feeling of dancing.
He presumed that he was orphaned in one of the many border skirmishes on the edge of Rubrum. The limited information in his dossier confirmed as much for him, and he'd shed a few tears over it -- but Arecia was quick to gather him into her arms and tell him that everything would be alright. It was from then on that he would attach himself to her as a flea to a beast, and he found himself bonding with his new classmates -- and new siblings -- with surprising speed. Perhaps it was the stress of having been removed from his familiar situation, or the desire to make new connections. No matter the origin, he found himself firmly and deeply involved with the heart of Rubrum's special ops.
Ace would spend the next eight years training rigorously, hidden away from the eyes of Rubrum until Class Zero's part in the resistance, Operation Apostle, was ready to be revealed. Ace adapted quickly to the field work, making use of his singular friendly connection outside his family in the form of Izana Kunagiri, a fellow soldier of Rubrum. Meanwhile, the crystal-state of Milites made its advance further into Rubrumite territory, culminating in an attack on its capital, Akademeia, which Class Zero then found themselves responsible for liberating. Izana passed away during this battle, and it was then that Ace got his first true taste of loss -- but, he'd shove it down, and move forward.
After the capital's liberation, Class Zero was formally admitted to the ranks of Akademeia as Agito Cadets. Ace more or less minded his own business, and the business of his class. Two new additions were made to the class in the form of childhood friend duo Machina Kunagiri (formerly of Class Second) and Rem Tokimiya (formerly of Class Seventh), and Ace would only cautiously approach them after a warning from Arecia not to instruct them on the nature of Class Zero's ability to circumvent the magic-blocking crystal jammers of the Militesi Empire. Nonetheless, he would privately long for their friendship, but continue to simply keep to himself and his family.
Over the course of many battles, betrayals, and near-misses, Class Zero would help Rubrum regain their territory from the encroaching Militesi Empire. Yet, despite their best efforts, the looming threat of Tempus Finis (the apocalypse) lurked, and inevitably came. Class Zero became the only thing standing between the world and certain destruction, and they performed their duties admirably... at a high cost.
When the end came, Class Zero would gather around each other and discuss what they could have done, were they able to live past this. Ace, for his part, encouraged the discussion, but had nothing to contribute -- in his mind, they had done all that they were meant to, and their ultimate, glorious purpose had been fulfilled. All in a life's work, and so, it was time to die.
He would join the others in forming the banner of Rubrum with their weapons and red mantles, and joining hands with his brothers and sisters, he would pass away into the realm from which no one truly returns.

IV. AUTHOR
PLAYER ALIAS:: Fray
OTHER CHARACTERS:: Amidatelion
ROLE-PLAYING EXPERIENCE:: Quite a lot of it, and Ace in particular has been a muse of mine for close to seven or eight years now.
NOTES FOR CONSIDERATION:: Someone adopt this child and teach him how to have an existence outside of being Rubrum's greatest little war machine. Also, just a general note that I am not open to shipping him with other Class Zero members that were raised by Arecia, as he considers them his siblings. Machina (and Rem as like a QPP or partners-in-law situation) is a possibility, however.
