With both men saying their farewells, Keimusho would take his departure, though this was not through the conventional means of merely walking away after all those involved stated their goodbyes. Instead the ninja opted to take his departure via the Shukuchi technique. The ninja tossed a smoke bomb towards his feet and would seemingly teleport when the short burst of smoke dissipated. Now deeper into the forest and alone. Keimusho would take time to reflect on all that has occurred. The situation with the bandits, the village, and the fact that he was in a new world definitely enticed heavy thoughts. The revelation of being stuck in Zephon was not deprived of complications. His homeland had just acquired its independence and he shall no longer be able to celebrate it nor be able to defend it should it be at risk.
The loss of contact with his clan, the only people that he considered family was perhaps the most upsetting for the Au Ra. Though the fact that this was not a burden that he alone had to endure helped to remedy this situation that he suddenly and unexpectedly found himself in. In addition, helping Caius salvage the village from a fate of arson helped the ninja see that there was perhaps some purpose to being sent to this world in the first place. Albeit a purpose that could particularly be interpreted as abstruse.
Coping with what was deprived was not the sole challenge. The Au Ra would also have to endure the new culture around him as well in some form. Being relocated to an unfamiliar world came with the cognizance of a culture that more likely was disparate to any cultures that he was already accustomed to. This typically signified the necessity of adapting to this new environment, while still retaining the sense of self ;however, for the time being Keimusho intends on largely keeping his identity a secret to the general population. That intention alone makes Keimusho wonder how much of that would apply to a man who not only operates with secrecy, but basically lives it.
As the thoughts continued to permeate, Keimusho came to the realization that he could not spend much longer ruminating in a forest he knew naught about. The ninja would withdraw the map Caius bestowed unto him from his dogi to make the decision of his next destination.

Keimusho’s hearing from his right side was slightly muffled as part of his horn was missing. Staying close to Squall would also help remedy that fact for the time being should they have need for communication. “It actually will grow back fortunately, however the hearing from my right horn will be compromised for the time being.” What followed was just silence until the ghost would speak to them yet again warning them not to leave at the risk of being disqualified from the trial. “As if we would leave anyway.”, the ninja muttered. The sounds of a large creature followed soon afterwards, but soon the sound of a scream followed. Both of these sounds were loud enough for Keimusho to make out from his left horn, but he could not make out the location from which came from. Thankfully staying close to Squall allowed him to study the direction that he was facing and where he was looking so it gave him an idea of where these sounds were coming from.
Squall then asked whether he believed that the ghost was playing another trick on them. “I assume so, perhaps a ploy to get us disqualified. Even if it’s not, we currently have our hands full.”
The ninja followed this statement by weaving the handsigns Chi, Jin, and finally Ten. A gust of wind a result of Huton briefly appeared around the ninja’s body as he proceeded to weave another sign, Kassatsu. “Let’s see if I am able to slow their movements." The ninja walked over towards the end of the circle that this trial had them in, specifically towards the edge where whatever was approaching then would enter from. He weaved the signs Jin, Ten, and lastly Chi. He would place his hand on the ground which would create a circle of corrupted earth around the area which he stood. After this was finished the ninja went back towards his original position, next to Squall. “I suggest that we focus on taking them down as swiftly as possible. I don’t have any healing abilities at my disposal. Not any that can heal others at least.”

Keimusho chuckled when Caius said that he’d probably just keep calling him Mu. “I’m sure that won’t be the last time someone tells me that.” Caius then assisted the ninja further by handing the Au Ra a map. The ninja took a glimpse of the contents of the slip of paper to get an idea of the surrounding area. Afterwards he slipped the paper inside of his dogi. “Thank you again. You’ve helped me out tremendously. Your information will save me from wandering around aimlessly.” Caius would similarly offer the ninja aid should he ever request it and would inform the ninja for whom to look for if he couldn’t find Caius himself. “By the sounds of it, it seems that you have plenty of good hands in the Dragonblades. You’ll definitely need them while this Original Sin of yours remains at large. They already put a bounty on your head so who knows what they’ll pull when they find out that you still breathe. Any means necessary… They must really have it out for you if they are willing to go that far or these bandits must have been really desperate for coin.”
“Well I shouldn’t keep you and your companion of yours any longer.”, Keimusho said referring to Vordun. Keimusho had very little experience with dragons barring seeing them from a distance whilst travelling to Idylshire in his homeworld, though he never seen one as young as Vordun. Though he heard that dragonkind could speak so he found it odd that the dragon was not doing so, but knowing that this was a world separate from his own he would not speculate further.
“I’m sure that you are eager to get to the bottom of this bounty of yours. In the meantime, I hope that you find the information that you are looking for. Farewell and good luck on your travels. ”, said the Au Ra giving the mercenary a bow.

Whilst in the midst of following the tonberry just as instructed by the ghost, Squall asked the ninja his thoughts on this matter. Whether or not this ghost's actions towards travelers, in this case being them were something of common place. "Who knows? It would be near impossible to know the motivations of the dead. This could just be one of his many games. Though I find this rather strange, I would've thought that fae folk would be more likely to do something like this to travelers since it is a behaviour that I’ve heard was attributed to them, though I was never one to actually encounter them back in my world. Because of this it would prove difficult to speculate further. Even more so when I consider that I know very little of this place as well.",Keimusho responds to Squall.
Finally upon reaching their destination the tonberry disappeared without a trace. The question of whether the trial has started crossed Keimusho’s mind as well. Perhaps the trial has indeed started, but it would be hard to tell without the commentary of the ghost. Well it would seem that something has started as the sounds of Squall’s running behind the ninja were abrupt. “Did you see someth-” The ninja cut himself off as he felt something was amiss. Squall’s gunblade was edging ever closer to striking him. The ninja had practically no time to react at this time, but made an effort to narrowly dodge the strike, though the effort was not entirely successful. The strike from the blade managed to slice a portion of the Au Ra’s right horn off, which was perhaps best case scenario of the strike had to connect any part of the Au Ra’s body. The removal of this part of the Au Ra’s body was not inherently painful nor was it messy as the inside of the horn was hollow, but the ninja would have issues hearing from his right horn as a result. The portion of the horn would land a few feet away from him and Squall. The ninja would quickly move to create distance between Squall and himself.
Keimusho would finally get a good look at Squall after the exchange, except that it didn’t appear to be Squall, but instead Fumio Itou stood in his place. Keimusho instinctually grabbed his kodachi. “You! Your supposed to be dea- Wait no... “ Keimusho remembered that Fumio was not one to use a gunblade. “It’s these damned illusions.”, the ninja said hoping that Squall would be able to hear him assuming that he was also under an illusion again. At that moment the illusion ceased and Squall’s appearance to Keimusho was as it was usually.
“Impressive I must say, I expected you two the fight longer. Congrats on passing your warm up. Now it is time for your real trial.”, the ghost said to the duo. There was still no trace of the ghost or the old man. This exercise wasn’t even part of the actual trial? It seemed that the dead was just toying with them at this point, though it could be argued that they already toyed with since the beginning. Still there was so much at stake here and there was literally no turning back. Keimusho walked over to Squall to ensure that they wouldn’t end up attacking each other again, since he figured that surely whatever the ghost throws at them in this trial will involve illusions in one way or another.

Keimusho appreciated Caius' willingness to accept the ninja's wish to be referred to by his alias despite not understanding the purpose of it. "Perhaps you are right about that. On the surface it would make little sense to use an alias in this circumstance, but I cannot completely rule out the possibility that it could provide advantages of some sorts down the line especially due to certain talents I possess." The ninja's approach to this interrogation only earned him a spit, but it was not that surprising. It was not an approach that Keimusho used back in his home world. If he was back home he would've implied lethal intent with his words, but he wanted avoid potentially scaring villagers further, but it seems that the ninja did not have to worry about that.
Keimusho looked intrigued as Caius brought the threat of violence instead. A bluff initially called out on by one of the bandits. If Caius were to theoretically strike down these bandits it could possibly damage the reputation of his mercenary guild. However there was someone there without any reputation, Mu. As Caius pointed out this fact to the bandits. One immediately coughed up exactly what they were looking for. Their boss went by Shigureh of the Original Sin, a name that obviously meant nothing to the ninja, but it could possibly mean something to Caius. It could at least be a lead for the mercenary. "See that wasn't so hard now was it?", the ninja commented to the bandits after the information was laid forth. The ninja gave the bandits yet another cold stare. "But know this. So far you have gotten off easy for your actions. Depending on what this village decides to do with you, you should take the time to repent for your consequences could be much more... dire."
Keimusho went over to see Caius off. "I should thank you for informing me that this world is one that is different from mine own and for your offer to assist me towards Torrensten, however I can manage on my own. I'm not exactly what you'd call an adventurer, but knowing that this is a new area to me perhaps I should start getting into that mindset. Perhaps a journey to learn the land while aiding people whenever I am capable. Oh and before you take your leave I'll give you my true name. It is Keimusho of the Onishi clan, but seeing as my clan is not here it would just be Keimusho Onishi. When we encounter each other again do not hesitate to request my aid should you ever require it."

The ghost ignored Squall's attempt of attacking him via tossing his gunblade, he then relishes from Squall's question of the trial that was in store for them. Oh what else but a trial of combat?! You've spent your time here slaying plant life did you not? Oh... but don't allow yourselves to believe you'll be facing similar trends. No... your trial will prove to be more difficult both physically and mentally, but I won't spoil anymore.
"And if we refuse?", asked Keimusho. Keimusho figured that this was an ultimatum but at the same time did not feel that the only escape method was with the ghost's trial.
You are not in a position to bargain scaled-one. You will undergo my trial, whether it is willingly or not. In fact, allow me to show you how futile your attempts of negotiation are. The humanoid figure that the ghost presented himself in shifted to a ball of energy, which then swiftly made its way to the old man. The ghost would enter the old man's body in this form. The old man screamed at the top of his lungs as the ghost slowly took possession of his body.
Keimusho instinctively drew his kodachi, but it was already to late. The old man's body was possessed. Uh uh uh. You'd best put the sword away. You wouldn't want to harm your companion now would you? Now this trial will have two prizes. Your escape and the life of your companion. Keimusho stared in disgusted as he sheathes his blade. Now, now. Don't give me that look. I'll tell you what I'll add in a third prize. I've noticed that this man lacks something that those in the living value so much, memories. If you manage to complete this trial I'll give him just what he is lacking.
The ghost took the old man's body and started to walk away with it. A flash of blinding light followed behind him. When this light dissipated the only trace of the old man was his walking stick. What was next to the stick was a Tonberry. Follow the Tonberry, it shall take you to your trial. The voice of the ghost could still be heard as if it were right next to them yet there was no trace of it or the old man.

Squall asked the ninja the time in which they've been in this forest. "Before we ran in to you, I'd say we've been in here a couple of hours, which makes me question why these illusions are just now of a sudden afflicting us." Keimusho looked as the old man started screaming something about a monster. This led the ninja believe that he was seeing visions of the destruction of the elder's village courtesy of a flying black mage gone mad. It was affecting him so bad that he was charging ahead of him and Squall, perhaps one of the worse things that could happen especially when visions or hallucinations could hit him or Squall at a moment's notice. Luckily, Squall managed to catch him before he can get any further. What followed was sudden heavy breathing from Squall which implied yet another hallucination.
"These illusions are getting out of hand. Perhaps we should make haste." What followed was a roar from a monster, though it was not close enough to be identified. "Preferably avoiding the monsters if possible." Keimusho was not entirely comfortable with the idea of engaging in combat with monsters while they could be struck with illusions at anytime without warning. However, if they had to cross arms with yet another monster then they would have no choice to to dispatch of it as quickly as possible.
Oh but your not going anywhere! Not unless permitted to anyway., a distorted voice called. "An illusion?", Keimusho questioned. This voice was not a result of an illusion, all three of them could hear this voice. This is no illusion, men of living. Not this time. Suddenly a figure appeared before them, a ghost. I was just like you once. A man trying to escape his illusions, his fears. And fail I did. If you are not careful you'll end up the same as I... But I'll tell you what. I'll give you a chance to escape the illusions. A trial perhaps. Keimusho turned his attention to Squall after the ghost offered the group its ultimatum.. "A trial? What do make of this Squall?" The ninja did not know what the course of action to take. He was not sure if they would truly be let go if they completed whatever trial this ghost has planned for them, but did they really have any choice in the matter?

Squall would explain to Keimusho the details of his illusions it pretty confirmed his suspicions that these illusions were affecting them differently. "The thing is I didn't just see something or someone. I saw my past, the past I had right before coming to this world and not only that I relived it almost.", said the ninja. This was all to similar to the Echo, except it was not helpful in this scenario. Was what whatever was triggering these illusions were triggering them through Keimusho's Echo. Perhaps it did not matter at all, instead what really mattered was getting out of the forest.
Squall went on to question the ninja on whether he do anything to scout ahead. It was honestly the best question to be asked at this point. If they were going to get out of here they were going to have to rely on one another. However, these circumstances made scouting more of a challenge. "I could scout ahead as I did with the Ochu, but with the technique I used for that purpose, any loss of focus will reveal my position. Something that is prone to happen if I am affected by these illusions once more and the worse of it is that it happens at an inopportune time.. Say near a monster, then I'll be left vulnerable."
"As for scouting above the trees, I have no technique specifically for that purpose. However, I am capable of climbing atop the trees and with precision leaping from tree to tree. The thing is that all three of us need to get out of here, which means that we are left with getting out through conventional means."

The sky surged with darkness. Another night in Sonora has begun. Keimusho gained entry through the city and the guard glared at the ninja practically showing their mistrust. Yet it was not only the guard who gave off this unforgiving atmosphere. The residents of this city who have not yet taken leave to their beds either gave similar looks or they whispered to their peers. The behavior was completely understandable. Seeing someone dressed specifically for the shadows at night would not be settling for anyone, especially at the times the city currently had to endure. Deeper in the city the number of the guard lessened more and more, which could only mean that these were the areas that crime thrived at night.
Speaking of which, Keimusho would spot an attempt of house robbery. There were two individuals attempting to break in a house. One had a burly stature and wedged a crowbar into the door trying to pry it open to gain entry. The other was one of a more slimmer physique who was repeatedly kicking the door. "Come on hurry it up already!, he said whilst kicking the door. The robbers had their facesconcealed with cloth, not that it mattered much if they did anyway the chances of the guard appearing were slim at best. Unfortunately, they were not in the clear as the were seen by Keimusho, who could probably be best described as a vigilante now based on his time in Zephon thus far.
The two were targets that did not take much effort to take down. Keimusho did not even see it fit to draw his kodachi. The ninja snuck behind the two burglars, something that proved even easier than normal as they had their attention towards the door. The ninja brought a single roundhouse kick to the husky man, knocking the man unconscious in an instant. Shocked, his partner in crime picked up the crowbar and started swinging it at the ninja, attacks that didn't take much effort to dodge for the ninja. During a final swing, the ninja grasped the burglar's arm and proceed to toss him to the ground below. The impact left him unconscious as well. "Perhaps I should've taken up the pugilist discipline like some have in Eorzea. Hand-to-hand combat doesn't seem to be to bad."
Keimusho took a moment to look at the unconscious burglars. "Now what should I do with these two. Perhaps bring them to the guard? Or shall I bring the guard to them-" Keimusho suddenly heard the footsteps of someone running behind him. He was about to draw his blade until he looks back. It was just an unarmed, blond-hairedgirl running. She looked somewhere in here early teens. As she past by the Au Ra in the sprint. Keimusho would feel the slight breeze from it on his tail. "Kami preserve..." Keimusho would think nothing else of the matter. Even if she was running because she say Keimusho take the robbers down it was perhaps for the best that she ran in his mind.

After the Ochu was dispatched, Squall asked a question on Keimusho's profession. For most this would be information that Keimusho would withhold due the nature of the shinobi, but Squall proved to be trustworthy for the little while that they've been around each other. In fact, Keimusho was starting to question whether going by an alias and concealing his nature as a shinobi in this world was entirely necessary. It was not as if his clan existed here nor any other shinobi as far as he knows. If there are other shinobi, then they most likely reside on other continents or are from other worlds like he is. "Bah, I guess there is no point in concealing this while I'm stuck in this world... Back in my world I would be referred to as many different things, but the most common would be ninja or shinobi. A profession most known for espionage and if necessary assassinations."
After the old man ceased his questionable cane-swinging episode. Squall's behavior suddenly struck as odd as well. He suddenly called out a name that he hadn't heard, perhaps a name of something or someone of Squall's homeland. This alone would've been odd enough, until Squall drew his gunblade and proceed to swing at nothing. What was going on here?
After Squall asked if they heard anything. Keimusho responded with, "No not a thing."
Though Keimusho would not be exempt from these strange occurrences. Suddenly a raging headache struck the Au Ra. Was this Echo? That was the question that the ninja had. This feeling was very reminiscent of this ability, but no this was not what was occurring. Instead, Keimusho was given a vision of his own past: what happened before he was brought to Zephon. It was almost as if he relieved that scene of his past. The battle against his former mentor and father figure, Fumio Itou specifically stood out.
“Ah… Keimusho, I’d recognize that white hair anywhere. You’re quite different from the thieving little shite you were almost a decade ago.”
“In truth, I intended for you to also join the Garlean Empire, but you ended up finding out my secret a tad bit too early. You would’ve served wonders for the empire. In fact, you could now even more so…”
“Then I’m afraid you’ll have to die then. Tis’ a shame that the Kami didn’t have a better plan in store for you.”
All of these were the words echoing through the Au Ra's mind. All of with came from Fumio before Keimusho had to cut him down. After a while it finally stopped. "No more!", the ninja yelled abruptly. The ninja took a deep breath to regain his composure. "Something isn't right... Perhaps the rumors of illusions are true. Queer things are affecting us and perhaps I may be on the worst end of it all. Either we have to find our way out or find whatever is causing it.", said the ninja.
