After Caius was finished working up the crowd, he turned towards Keimusho and simply called him by "Mu". The ninja appreciated how the mercenary kept his word on using that alias rather than his actual name despite it being as unnecessary as it may be. The ninja approached the mercenary and proceeded to give him a bow. "Hello Caius. Long time no see", he responded to the mercenary's single-worded greeting. Keimusho knew that it would be best to not ask about the mercenary's search for the Original Sin, so instead he opted to inquire about Caius's dragon. "I see that you little companion isn't here with you this day", he said being unaware of the size the dragon grew after his first encounter with Caius. After the exchange with words with the mercenary ceased, the ninja decided to converse with another competitor that peaked his interest: the man shrouded in red armor. After hearing the man's speech he knew that he had a rather exuberant personality, but to what extent he did not know. To put it simply, Keimusho was not aware of the grave mistake he was about to make by conversing with this individual.
The ninja started the walk in the vicinity of the red-armored individual, only to collide with the black-haired individual. This seemed to be happening a lot lately. Sure Keimusho was a shinobi ;however, he wasn't trying to act stealthily. It was almost like he was invisible to some people. The worst part of it was that he could not hear the individual approaching due to his impaired hearing. It was very bizarre to the ninja, but it wasn't frustrating to him. Perhaps this was due to his preference to keep a leveled-head. “Oh hey buddy. Didn’t see you there. I’ll just go this way instead.", the individual said as he moved to another direction. The ninja said nothing in response. The ninja completed his journey towards the armored individual and proceeded to give him a bow. Gilgamesh's armor reminded him of the Far East and it was perhaps the only reason that Keimusho talked to him. By the way his armor appeared the ninja guessed that he was a samurai of some kind. If the ninja went off of personality alone he would most likely have no interest in talking to him. "Greetings. Your armor reminds me of my homeland. Pray tell from where do you hail?", he asked the armored individual.

Keimusho walked out of an apartment complex with his elderly companion, Aldrich. While Keimusho technically did not live there himself, it was in that building he would stay in his time in Torensten since he looks after the elder due to his amnesia. After having to deal with illusions, a trial courtesy of a ghost, having part of his horn severed, and more, it would be best for the ninja to find a way to blow off steam. And a way he did yet find. The duo's wandering around led them to what seemed to be some sort of special occasion. For the time being the surrounding area held food and other fun activity, but that was not what caught the ninja's intrigue. The ninja turned his attention towards a stage as an individual announced a contest of sorts.
"Adventurers! Gladiators! Sorcerers! Thieves, and the like! Steel yourselves! Are there no others who would brave the most fearsome beasts and challenge our contestants? Come and prove your worth in glorious combat! There is no greater title than Champion of the Festival of the Hunt!”
"The Festival of the Hunt? So that's what this is all about.", the Au Ra muttered to himself. The ninja was not of the sort that liked to draw attention to himself but this competition intrigued him for other reasons. The exuberance the crowd displayed gave the impression that this was a very big occasion and with a competition of some sorts surely there must be an equally noteworthy prize. Keimusho speculated that such a prize must be gil or at least something that could be sold for a sizable sum of it. The ninja himself could do without the money. He had no problem hunting for food or camping outside as he had done prior but he had to keep Aldrich in mind as well. While he managed to obtain living arrangements for Aldrich, that would not change the fact that Aldrich would need gil for other expenses when Keimusho eventually leaves Torensten. If he were to win this competition he would give the reward to Aldrich so he live on his own for a while. The ninja would make his decision. He would enter into this contest. He just hoped that his temporarily impaired hearing due to his severed horn wouldn't affect his performance. The horn was in the process of growing back, but it would still be a few days before it grew back in its entirety.
The ninja edged closer to the stage from where the announcement originated. The ninja looked around to eye some of the contestants. The first was black haired individual who had an air of confidence to him and the second boasted an absurdly higher amount of bravado to the point that he made a speech explaining how each of his foes met their demise courtesy if his blade. He was covered head to toe in red armor that reminded him of the Far East. The last individual was one who Keimusho already acquainted himself with, Caius. Keimusho wanted to ask the Dragonblade how his search of the Original Sin was going but realized that it was perhaps not the most appropriate time to do so. Besides it appeared that the mercenary was soaking in the moment while he raised his gunblade while the crowd was erupting in response. "Wow the Dragonblades really are well known around here.", the ninja thought. After the ninja finished scouting his competition, he announced his participation by simply saying, "I'm in."

The ninja did not expect the residential district to be in this condition. The place was obviously not the most optimal to live at if it wasn't obvious from the litter surrounding the area and the dirt coated apartments accompanied by the occasional busted window or two. Despite this, Keimusho and Aldrich continued to walk in this area. A home here would be better than no home. Besides it was not like Keimusho had any money and he very much doubted that the old man had the gil for a living condition preferable to this. Sure the elder managed to purchase some fruit but considering he came from a village near Mount Hotan of all places it was doubtful that he had much more than that. Still Keimusho thought it would be best to ask the elder what he thought of the place. After all Aldrich would be the one who'd have to live here not Keimusho.
"Well this place seems to be um.... worse for wear. What do you think of it?", the ninja asked the old man. It was a question that would not be met with an answer as something suddenly collided with the ninja. As the ninja turned it was revealed to be a man with a gun on his back. He did not notice the man coming due a combination of part of his horn missing and his conversation with Aldrich. "Don't mind me.", the individual said. It perhaps wasn't the most polite response to accidentally colliding with someone but Keimusho simply said, "It's fine" as he stepped aside to let the man carry on. Shorty thereafter it became clear why this man was in such a hurry as the stranger drew his gun towards what seemed to be a pair of mages.
The ninja completely oblivious to the situation simply observed. The mages mentioned something called the eyes of Bahamut. Bahamut. That was a name that Keimusho heard before. At least in his world. From what he could remember from stories Bahamut was a dragon who caused a lot of destruction on Eorzea. It was safe to assume that the Bahamut that these mages referred to was not the same so the mention of Bahamut alone was not enough to condemn the mages ;however, the stranger then referred to them as zealots. At one point in his home world he had heard that the city-state of Ishgard had zealots who similarly worshiped dragons. Still the ninja could not draw a conclusion since all of those similarities could be a mere coincidence for all he knew.
The gun-wielding individual eyed Keimusho from the corner of his eye. It was subtle but it was enough to give the impression that he wanted Keimusho do do something. All that the Au Ra did know was that this situation did not appear to be going well and he did not wish for Aldrich to get caught in the crossfire. Keimusho opted to tossed a smoke bomb covering all the surrounding individuals in smoke. The ninja could only hope that the stranger would capitalize from this indirect assistance and run. The ninja proceeded to grab Aldrich and move from the area before the smoke dissipated. Keimusho decided to hop on top of a nearby roof to observe the aftermath while still keeping the elder in a safe enough place for the time being.

Getting to the city was more challenging than it needed to be for Keimusho and his old man companion. Perhaps going through the Headstone Forest wasn't the best of routes that could've been chosen. Going through that are earned him a headache and a severed horn, though it was not the end of the world because his horn will grow back. More importantly, he and Squall were able to retrieve a little bit of the old man's memory. Though all that was retrieves was his name, Aldrich and a portion of a day of tragedy he would not fully understand due to being bereft of the remainder of his memory.
Keimusho walked with the elderly man across the streets of Torensten. It was the first time Keimusho entered to city and as such he received some stares by the civilians, but it wasn't because he was a new face. Keimusho expected this sort of reception from people of course. After all, he walked around with a mask on his face while his body was covered by a dogi. That was not to mention that he was an Au Ra, a race that as far as he knows does not exist in Zephon. Despite, all of that the ninja managed to ignore the awkwardness. The old man on the other hand was completely oblivious to the stares so his feeling on the circumstance was not anything that Keimusho had to worry about. The purpose of the ninja bringing the old man to Torensten was to search for a place for the old man to live. The ninja could not justify taking the old man everywhere he went, it was too dangerous. However, that did not mean that he didn't wish to help him. The least he could do was help the old man find a house.
The pair would make their way to a shopping district, perhaps one of the best places to ask for information. The ninja would approach a blond-haired women behind a counter. Fruit seemed to be primarily what the store had to offer. He gave the woman a bow and proceeded to ask her, "Excuse me madam, could you point us towards the residential district?" Seeing an individual covered head to toe like some sort of assassin was alarming, but also seeing him be so polite would definitely send mixed messages. "Um.. yes there should be one towards the northeast of here.", she responded. "Thank you ma'am. Well I shouldn't leave without at lea-" Keimusho planned on purchasing something, but when he fumbled around for gil he remembered one crucial fact, this was another world meaning that the currency of his world was useless.
When the ninja looked back up he saw Aldrich placing gil on the counter. "Would you kindly give us as much fruit as this would buy?", the old man asked. "Certainly.", the woman responded. This surprised the Au Ra because he didn't realize that the old man even had any gil, let alone having the knowledge to use it. Perhaps trade was just instinctual and having memories played no part in it. If nothing else the ninja could now recognize what Serentestra's currency looked like. The clerk returned with a basket filled various types of fruit and handed it to the old man. "Thank you for your patronage.", the woman said. The ninja would hold the basket for the old man since he needed to hold his cane to walk. The pair then proceeded to walk towards the aforementioned 'residential district.'

"Perhaps you are right about that Squall.", Keimusho responded to Squall's statement that partial memories were better than no memories. "If nothing else we now know that there are methods to restoring memories.", the ninja continued. "Even if I don't get my memories back it isn't the end of the world. I can always make new memories. The future is more important than the past," Aldric declared. This was perhaps his way of bestowing his 'elderly wisdom', which surprisingly he still retains despite being bereft of majority of his memory. Before the trio set out, Keimusho had remembered that the old man had once again lost his walking stick. Luckily it appeared that it would be the last time that Keimusho would have to provide him with another one. Keimusho once again climbed a tree to cut down a branch that could function as a cane. After he climbed back down he handed the stick to Aldrich. "Thank you son," the elderly man responded.
Squall went onto ask whether the pair were going to Torensten. "Yes, that's right. I have to find someplace for Aldrich to live. I can't justify taking him everywhere I go, it's too dangerous." Though Keimusho did not wish to admit it, Aldrich was a liability especially on the battlefield. Continuing to protect was going to be next to impossible. The only reason he managed to do so this day was with Squall's help. Though that did not mean that he didn't want to help the old man, which is why he figured that the least he could do is help the old man find a place to live. After the ninja was done handing the elder his makeshift cane, Squall asked whether he was ready to depart. The ninja would respond with a resounding, "Yes."

Following a tonberry perhaps wasn't the easiest thing to get used to so Keimusho understood Squall's uneasiness when he stated that it would be the last time he follows a tonberry anywhere. "At least we didn't have to follow the behemoth.", Keimusho jokingly said. Once the duo reunited with their elderly companion, he thought it would be the end of it, but he would never have guessed how wrong he could've been. Squall would demand the ghost that they be shown the exit and the ghost proved happy to oblige, except that the method was most definitely not expected or intended by any of the living present. As promised, but first a parting gift. Their experience with the ghost this day instantly told Keimusho that this was no reward. The sky blackened and the ground beneath them shook. The ninja only seen it a handful of times, but no question about it this was in fact the spell, Meteor. Before the spell came into contact with anything Squall casted a defensive spell on all three of them. For further protection Keimusho activated the Shade Shift ability as he started to run. In similar fashion to his companions he was sent crashing to the ground.
Rising to his feet, Keimusho was bewildered that they the now found themselves at the edge of the forest. However, this was probably the least odd thing that Keimusho experienced this day. Keimusho had a sigh of relief seeing that Squall and the old man were okay. Suddenly, Keimusho remembered that the ghost gave the old man's memories as an incentive to undergo the nightmare which was his trial. "Are you alright? Do you remember who you are now?", Keimusho asked the old man. "Yes son, I'm alright.... My name is... Aldrich. Yes... that was it.", the old man responded. The uncertainty of his answer prompted Keimusho took ask yet another question. "If I might ask, can you elaborate how far your memory goes back?" It would appear as if the elder struggled to to pinpoint a memory, but then again it probably was a question anyone would struggle with. "If it's something too difficult then you don't have to answer.", Keimusho said after realizing how he struggled with that question. "N-no son. You boys have already risked so much for me. It would be ungracious of me not to give you an answer. I remember living in a village, can't remember who else lived there. One day there was some black creature spouting sommat about a princes-" Keimusho didn't need to hear anymore to know what the old man was going to say. It sounded exactly like a few days prior when he rescued him. "Enough. I think I know the rest of your story." Before this point, Keimusho was ready to say maybe the wasn't all that bad. However, after gauging what the old man remembered he grew a resentment for the ghost. It seemed that only the knowledge of his name and the massacre of his village was granted to him. His anger would've been symbolized by the look on his face if it weren't for the fact that he wore a mask, but it was clear in his tone of voice. "Godsdamn that ghost.", he muttered under his breath.
The voice of the ghost spoke to them once more. Hey I never said ALL of his memories now did I? I fulfilled my end of the bargain, you have no room to complain. The ninja did not respond to the ghost he was done playing games with them. "Let's get out of here.", Keimusho said after realizing the ghost had nothing else of relevance to say.

Keimusho nodded as Squall reminded him not to let to much time elude them. Once Squall had a grasp on the behemoth's attention, the ninja prepared himself. From his dogi fell four daggers, each occupying the four cardinal points respectively. The scarlet rune that materialized around him would indicate the start of Keimusho attack. The ninja would maintain his focus, biding his time for an opening in the battle that Squall and the behemoth were engaged in. The behemoth would eventually be maneuvered in the ninja's direction. Sensing that the opportunity to strike was forthcoming, the first mudra sign, Ten was woven.
The beast would grow irritable from a coalition of drained magic courtesy of Squall and the agony produced by severe wounds inflicted upon it. In retaliation to his opposition he casted Thundaga on them both, Squall avoided the attack intended for him and inherited the thunder meant for Keimusho to shield him from it. With Squall no longer capable of serving a means of distraction for the time being, this meant that Keimusho's had to strike now. The beast shifted its focus towards the static ninja and that was the moment that Keimusho struck by summoning a Fuma Shuriken larger in stature than normal. The projectile was flung towards the behemoth's torso, an area that was already subject to much of the ninja's assault. The monster roared as the shuriken lacerated into its flesh. Immediately afterwards the ninja wove his second sign, Chi.
Keimusho would utilize Raiton on the beast once again. The amplified lighting bolt would ground the behemoth just as the first one did prior. Unlike the first, the lighting managed to scorch the behemoth's flesh. With the beast still grounded, the ninja deemed it fit to finish it off. The ninja weaved the final mudra sign, Jin and activated Suiton. Underneath the monster would a large sum of water geyser from the ground, impaling it and leaving the beast executed. With the final attack finished, the runes surrounding the ninja subsided, allowing the ninja to once again roam freely. Which is what he would have done initially, if he didn't almost collapse from the fatigue. With a deep breath Keimusho managed to get himself together and plodded over to Squall to ensure his well being. "Are you alright?", asked Keimusho.
A familiar voice of the ghost echoed through area following a few minutes. Congratulations! You've managed to survive my trial. Follow your tonberry companion and you shall be escorted to the prize! The same tonberry that the duo trailed behind to attend their trial reemerged. Remaining silent, the ninja simply followed the course the tonberry made. The destination appeared to be near-identical to the trials location, except that a certain old man was there in the center. The essence of the ghost could be seen abandoning the old man's body accompanied by screams from the host.

"Yeah... it's nothing that can't be healed." Keimusho said closing his eyes. The ninja took a deep breath which casted the self healing spell Merciful Eyes. It wasn't as potent as the Cure he received earlier, but it was enough to return to fighting form. It was obvious that the fight with the behemoth caused both him and Squall great fatigue. The bright side was that the behemoth was practically on it's last legs. It was clear that the injuries inflicted on it were much more severe than the damage that Keimusho and Squall received mainly due to the few but essential healing abilities in their arsenal.
Squall would ask Keimusho if he could do what he could do the same attack he done to the Ochu and the short answer was yes, but the ninja thought they could do something more efficient. "Honestly one of those attacks is better suited for multiple targets.", he said referring to Katon. "The only reason I utilized it earlier was due to Ochu's weakness to the flames. Also, our space here is rather limited. I would rather not risk setting the forest ablaze as the behemoth almost did earlier." Keimusho took a moment to think. "However, since you're willing to grab it's attention for the time being... I can do you one better, something that should put the beast down judging from the damage it already has suffered. I'll use three attacks on the beast and they will all be twice as powerful than normal. The drawback? I'll have to use them all from a single position. If I move it is cancelled, the same if I wait too long to use the attacks. As long as you keep its attention this drawback is practically nullified. It is up to you. "

The large creature was finally revealed to be a behemoth. Keimusho prepared himself by casting mudra signs Ten and Chi and would bide his time before activating the ninjutsu technique. Squall would seize the beast's attention with Tornado which is when the ninja would activate Raiton. The bolt of lightning would connect directly with the top of the behemoths head, though the effort was simply shrugged off as its attention stayed on Squall. After a hit from Squall, the creature roared and would cast Flare afterwards.
Because of the limited space the area allows, a successful dodge attempt was improbable. Instead of evasion the ninja opted for a more direct form of defense in Shade Shift. A 360 degree spin signaled the activation of the technique, however, this did not completely nullify the damage which caused first degree burns and a knockback. The inkury was quickly remedied by a Cure via Squall. To ensure that Flare would not set the forest aflame, the ninja would weaves the mudra signs Ten, Chi, Jin to cast Suiton. The water would geyser in the area and would quench the flames result of the behemoth. When Keimusho returned his attention to the beast, Squall had inflicted slash wounds on it, but was on the ground fatigued. The beast was similarly winded from Squall's attack but was ready to charge at Squall once again. The beast would've attempted to clawed down Squall, but Keimusho tossed a smoke bomb in the vicinity of the behemoth. While disoriented by the smoke, the ninja sneaked behind the creature and struck it with his kodachi activating Trick Attack.
When the smoke dissipated, the beast shifted its aim towards the Au Ra who was now studying the location of the slash wounds. Keimusho decided that it would be best to inflict as much damage while stalling for Squall recovery. Keimusho's hands met to weave a single sign and far eastern symbols would surround the ninja's body. The behemoth would try to ram into the ninja only to be met with two slashes in a wound that Squall inflicted to the chest. Though it was not two in the traditional sense. Keimusho's shadows had become animate and as a result when he struck his shadows would do the same.
Keimusho would continue to slash the behemoth in the same area repeatedly until the behemoth brought its claw to the ninja who could not hear the behemoth move it due to the horn injury, knocking him back and down to the ground. The assault left the behemoth severely wounded but also equally as enraged. Similarly, Keimusho had a slash wound his chest. The behemoth attempted to pounce on the ninja while he still on the ground. The ninja would weaved the signs Ten and Chi on the ground and cast Raiton once more as the lightning bolt crashed on the airborne behemoth knocking it to the ground. Keimusho would use this newly bought time to slowly raise himself from the ground.

It won't do to twiddle our thumbs and pray for a saviour.

The threat that awaited Keimusho and Squall was imminent, their trial had begun. Squall made his preparations by casting Protect on the two of them. However, it was initially perplexing when the first wave of enemies appeared. They were Chocobos? This gave a unorthodox impression. The ninja had encountered wild chocobos in his homeworld and these feral birds proved more bellicose than their domestic counterparts (at least those from his world); however, they certainly couldn't be described as the most formidable of foes. This begged an inquiry to the ghost's intentions. Though the truth evinced itself when two of the chocobos traversed through the corrupted earth situated via the Doton technique. As intended the creatures would be slowed as they walked through it and sustained damage in the process, though it seemed that it inflicted more to it than the average monster. Soon the monster was revealed as some sort of dragon, at least that was the sole conjecture that was accessible to the ninja, though the speculation was irrelevant in the moment in time. The only concern was dispatching the creatures.
Unfortunately, only those two of the Grendels managed to fall victim to Keimusho's Doton. The rest circled around Keimusho's technique to confront the duo. One of the monster's managed to sink it's teeth into Squall arm and was met by a water spell. Keimusho would soon find trouble of his own as three of the monsters came towards him. Two of them moderately damaged, but enraged by Keimusho's Doton technique. The other was completely unharmed as they entered the area after Doton dissipated. Keimusho's gaze shifted and as such his stance did as well. He held his kodachi as the samurai would their katana. Sole reliance on his ninjutsu abilities was not going to get the job done in the long run so instead he would rely on iaijustu. He would wait until his adversaries grew closer since the kodachi was a short blade than the katana and his reach would be shorter as a result. As the grendels pounced at the Au Ra, Keimusho launched his attack. It began with a single horizontal slash called Fuga would hit all three monsters who would then attempt to circle Keimusho. Two more slashes that seemed to be accompanied by cherry blossoms connected with the dragons as the ninja responded with Oka. This would be enough to slay the grendels already damaged by Doton and left only a single one to be dealt with at the moment.
The ninja rushed towards the remaining dragon and it at a close range prepared its breath attack, but would be met with the heel of Keimusho's zori. He would push the dragon's head away with the foot to redirect the lightning breath away from him, the intended target. It was beneficial for Squall to warn the ninja of the breath as he wouldn't have been able to do this otherwise. After the dragon finished casting the lightning breath, it was met with yet another kick followed by Yukikaze, a slash covered in what resembled ice. After this many more grendels would follow and it seemed to be a near endless endeavor . This was perhaps the most Keimusho had to swing his sword since coming to Zephon. Ninjutsu usually would suffice in most situations or some cases be the only course of action available.
Eventually the number of grendels lessened. Once this opening was gained the duo regrouped. Squall asked how he was holding up as the ninja was pulling his sword out of the flesh of yet another dispatched dragon. "Pretty well since it seems that we are making progress. Let's finish this." Fitting words as the sounds of the large creature grew louder.
