Yugiri stared incredulously at the man standing there, 'Solus' he was really trying to deny it? Not that she could blame him in a way....however did he true think to fool a Shinobi? Yugiri had started to open her mouth to further debunk the man's claims, logic even born in anger, irritation....trauma was still logic even if such emotions made that logic unsound! Yugiri's teeth only grit further in agitation the more she looked at this man however, she could respond, accelerate the problem, Ifalna intervened, hands on her shoulder's, relating to the pain that the young Shinobi felt, A brief sense of calm, peace...this woman....Ifalna....she could feel the sincerity...the care in her touch, in her words..the same ones her mother had used with her oh so long ago. "Forgive me...Ifalna-san, you are right...if I started a fight with this man it would put many and more at great risk." Yugiri would mutter out lowly to the woman, Yugiri cursed herself mentally, how could she have even imagined sacrificing one person for a vendetta...she should have known better after her last attempt at such a maneuver...almost ended with her own death at the hands of the tyrant prince Zenos.
The memory flashed so clearly in her mind, as if it were yesterday...the one memory truly BURNED into her soul; the sound of the Rain drops...the cold biting at her skin, her breath barely visible in the night air. The mud, caking to her boots, the twitching of her muscles, her tail, the nerves...finger's clenching and unclenching around the hilts of her daggers. Yugiri snapped back to reality out of her own thoughts, 'Solus' had corrected her on his name, Solus ZOS Galvus. IFalna would have felt the younger woman tense up again but she was letting the older woman's words win out over her. "You will not provoke me Solus Zos Galvus." Yugiri would say lowly to the man as if she were trying to banish the very demons from her soul....as if it would help with living flesh! Her dagger slid back into the sheath at her side, the soft clink of chainmail as she turned her back to the man once more. "I am going to find some place for Iflana-san to rest....follow or do not. However do not expect the kindness you have shown to change my mind about you. You are a scourge...a phantom that must needs be cleansed...however we must not needs resolve that this day. Ifalna-san needs to rest and needs a proper doctor...if you know a place for both of these things lead the way." Yugiri would say her tone peaceful....a little too peaceful, venom remained in the delivery of the words, as potent as the bite of an unseen viper, the cold of the unseen blade striking form the shadow.
"Ifalna-san, let us go. There is an Inn that I have roomed in however it is...on the edges of the city, until Solus declares his intent to help past his indignance and lack of care for other's and their pain...I will focus on your safety and health in the mean time....after you have rested, we will begin searching for your daughter." Yugiri would say, speaking about Solus as if he wasn't even there...he still VERY much was but the little needle jabs...he claimed to not know who Yugiri was, it was turn abouts fair play if she pretended as if he would refuse to help in any meaningful way right? After a word of warning to Ifalna, Yugiri would begin walking with her once more, a slow, PAINFULLY slow pace for the exhausted and injured woman...at least Ifalna was no longer in danger of seeing the Kami and taking her place in their halls! Yugiri spoke a silent prayer to all the Kami, every single one...one by one, a soft muttering in her native tongue, if Ifalna listened she may hear words such as 'Susano', 'Tsukuyomi' among many other's...would she think these were people or dieties? There were a LOT of names perhaps the young Shinobi was rather heavily religious?
BATHED BLACK IN SILENCE, OUR SURRENDER A SOMBRE REVERIE
As Ifalna spoke, volunteering information that he'd not have dared waved about so brazenly, Hades made it a point not to really react to it, lest he tip his own hand. His face remained a mask of stone. The last Ancient? The word Cetra was meaningless to him, quickly discarded as irrelevant. An Ancient. A caretaker for the star, same as he? He listened silently. Curious, that. Perhaps worth investigating. But he would not speak with her while the Doman walked around. No, she would need to be removed in one form or another before he would approach this Ifalna. She was not of his world, true, but it was rare to find someone who actually held the same duties. Hythlodaeus might be happy, too. He was always the social butterfly of the group, and having someone else to buzz about with some common ground might bring out some more of his usual self.
Yugiri almost dared him to follow, as if trying to lay some bait to get under his skin. He rolled his eyes. No, now was not the time, though perhaps he should at least be grateful that he didn't have to sacrifice the groceries in goading her to kill him so he could have a convenient excuse to slink off. No, Hades just stood there, waiting for Yugiri to say her piece, and waiting for a moment that neither were looking at him. Yugiri was more concerned with Ifalna, and he doubted Ifalna would disregard her concern for her daughter to focus on him. No, he knew that was more important than sating his curiosity. There would be another time to look into it. There was a small flash of black once their eyes were off of him, and as quick as it came, it was gone, along with him with it.
Besides, he had a feeling that dog was close by. No, more than a feeling. He simply knew. Despite her continued absence for one reason or another, he was fairly sure he was always being watched in some form, and he didn't have the energy or outrage to get into an argument about it. Perhaps one day he would remind it that there was an old Garlean play regarding an old, yellow dog that went mad. But that day was not today.
[attr="class","ayab-text"] It seemed there were no more words to be had as Yugiri was receptive to the words Ifalna spoke. She did her best not to visibly slump in relief that the possible altercation was averted, but there was an ease as she relaxed her stance and let herself be lead forward by the shorter woman. For some reason, she had a feeling that this Solus would seek her out. Her senses had been dulled over the years from the experiments she had endured but she could still sense the shift in his emotions. It was not information she would have voluntarily given under normal circumstances--these were not normal circumstances, though. Her words had been enough to calm Yugiri and that was what mattered to her. Ifalna would keep her secrets more closely guarded once she had regained her strength. Perhaps the shock of being delivered to entirely different world without the flow of a lifestream would settle upon her soon as well. [break][break]
As of now, Ifalna allowed herself the joy of the blissful silence of not hearing the pained cries from the planet. It felt like blasphemy to think of such a thing, but she was sure the silence would allow her an easier time in recovering. "There is nothing to forgive, Yugiri." It had been a moment of high emotion the younger woman had been able to come down from. A sudden flare of magic brushed against her senses, and Ifalna knew that this Solus had gone with their attention no longer upon him. It seemed he had done his good deed and decided that now was the time to exit. A boon given the tenseness Yugiri still held closely to her, so she would not mention he had departed. It was often easier to focus on the plight of another to distract oneself from their own heightened feelings. [break][break]
"Thank you, Yugiri, for coming to my aid and helping me search for my daughter. I know she has to be here somewhere--I just know it," Ifalna spoke softly. Call it a mother's intuition? Or the fact that she knew Aerith's presence down to her very bones. Her little girl had been her sole reason for living these last seven years and that would not change now.
Yugiri once more felt a surge of magic, she briefed a glance back, 'Solus' had said nothing else to her...seemed he had either lost his will to fight or he truly just did not care. Yugiri entertained a single thought in the moment she felt the aether surge; it wasn't too late...she could place Ifalna against a wall...she could still stop him...she could still END the Garlean menace here before it began again....patience Yugiri....with a grunt she refocused her attention onto Ifalna with the disappearence of Solus. Yugiri had a feeling not only would Ifalna likely see the man again...SHE may see him again...perhaps that day...she would end the fued...one way or another it would all end.
The more Yugiri focused on the irritation...the desire she felt to just turn and throw a Kunai at the empty air where Solus had been....she knew such a thing would serve no purpose except to make Ifalna distrustful of her, no...she had to bide her time, the image of her Lord Hien flashed in her mind...as well as that of her Shinobi master, 'patience Mistwalker, patience, your time will come but it is not yet that time.' Step by step, Yugiri lead Ifalna down the streets of Provo, deeper and deeper into the outskirts of the city, to a quint little Inn that the Shinobi stayed at when the occasion allowed her to do so.
Yugiri let out a soft breath as the pair approached the Inn, a feeling of regret and remorse hung around the young woman. "I still must ask forgiveness Ifalna-san, I was so ready to abandon you to sate my own desires. I know you are not him but your words, your relation to knowing how I feel...it reminded me so much of my Lord and master, Hien." Yugiri would say the regret soaked her words, longing....she missed her lord..it seems Ifalna was not the only one searching...hoping. "I am sure that we will find your daughter Ifalna-san, I give my my words, my honor as a Shinobi of Doma, as the retainer to the King of Doma, Hien Rijin that I will reunite you with your daughter as quickly as we are able...once you are recovered enough to begin traveling." Yugiri would say, offering a sorrowful smile to the woman using her as a walking stick. "For now, focus on rest and recovery Ifalna-san. I will begin asking around the city proper once you begin resting...I will see if I can find a lead for us on your daughter's location." despite the sorrow she felt at the woman's loss...there was a fire, a determination, a will about the young Shinobi, Ifalna had given the young woman a new purpose.
Several moments later, would see Ifalna and Yugiri in a room with one another, a rather simple room, a single bed, a table and a chair alongside a single shuttered window, it was nothing glamorous by any means, but it would do for now while the ancient recovered her strength. "You may take the bed Ifalna-san, I shall rest in the chair, you have more need of the bed than I." Yugiri would say helping the woman over to the bed if she did not protest to such an arrangement, "Do you need anything before I begin my search for a lead in the city proper?" Yugiri would ask pausing by the woman's bedside to hear any requests she may have for her before she left.
[attr="class","ayab-text"] The animosity ran too deeply to simply be cast away. Ifalna believed she could understand that sentiment quite well from her years of capture beneath Shinra's thumb. No doubt there were good people that worked for the company that were ignorant of their true intentions, but she did not believe herself capable of ever truly trusting someone from that horrid place. One man in particular made her heart twist in fear and her mind race: Professor Hojo. If she never saw him again, then she would live a truly contented life. May the man never find the rest he would have received should his spirit enter the lifestream. All she could hope was that the planet would reject such a horrible man as some knowledge was best left to die with the holder of it. Shaking away her thoughts, Ifalna smiled at Yugiri once more as she squeezed her arm in reassurance. [break][break]
"We all fall prey to moments of weakness and doubt. It's what makes us human after all. You made the choice to help someone instead of following your desire for vengeance," she spoke gently. This Lord Hien obviously meant much to the younger woman with how highly she spoke of him and of her loyalty in following such a man. "I'm flattered you compare me to someone you hold in such high esteem. Please have hope that you'll see your lord again. In the meantime, I hope you're okay with my company as I don't think I'll be traveling much on my own for awhile." A light laugh and brightened green eyes as Yugiri once more promised to help her search for her daughter. Oh, how she wished to tell Yugiri to not go to any more trouble on her behalf, but Ifalna would be selfish in taking this offered help to seek out Aerith. Her little girl needed her mother to be strong, which would not happen without rest first. [break][break]
The room that awaited them was simple in design and it was perhaps the most beautiful thing she had seen in such a long time. Somewhere quiet and peaceful without the threat of Hojo summoning her for another day of tortured experiments. Needles digging into her skin as he took a scalpel to her scarred arms or legs to bring forth more pain in order to get her to tell him what he wanted. Ifalna had never said a single word nor had she given him the pleasure of hearing her scream. Empty promises of allowing the pain to end if only she told them what Shinra wished to know, but she would die before she would ever lead them to what they believed the Promised Land to be. The memories haunted her for a few moments before she shook her head to right herself to this new reality of hers now. [break][break]
"Thank you so much." Tears burned at her eyes at such forthright kindness that she took both of Yugiri's hands within her own. "You're doing more for me than I have any right to ask, and I won't forget this." Gingerly, Ifalna made her way to the bed as she slid off her shoes to rest upon bed without worrying about what would happen when she opened her eyes once more. Perhaps this sleep would come more peacefully to her for the first time in the past several years.
Yugiri's animosity for the man who had helped them, did indeed run deep, wounds that would likely never truly heal or close....even if she got her revenge. Ifalna's presence however helped the Shinobi to remain in a state of calm, she was thankful for this woman's presence, the second truly friendly soul that she had met since coming to this world. Something haunted Ifalna, that much was plain, clear to see even to someone who possessed no abilities of empathy, not ability to sense of feel the emotions of another. Part of Yugiri wished to press...to ask what was wrong, what haunted the woman...however this was not the time...if Ifalna even felt the desire or trust to tell her. She returned the shakey smile to the woman just content to let such questions lie until a better time.
"Your words mean much and more to me to hear Ifalna-san. I thank you for your kindness...your understanding of the pain that wracks my soul. You are kind...I am sure that your daughter is just as kind." Yugiri would offer to Alfana in an attempt to further boost the woman's spirit, "Just as I will find my lord and master once more....if he finds his way to this world....he is more willing to as they say 'roll with the punches' than I am as a Shinobi." Yugiri would admit, a somewhat sheepish tone to her voice, rubbing her arm as if she were remembering something, in her mind she felt the phantom pains from her many training sessions with the young lord in their youth, the wooden swords were no danger to life unless one was careless...but by the Kami did they sting something fierce!
Yugiri blinked as Ifalna took both of her hands into her own, the gesture made her heart race. no one had ever done this with her, no one had even attempted...they heard the word Shinobi and decided to be on their best behavior, putting on a mask of false propriaty, friendliness to avoid getting themselves into too much trouble. "Ifalna-san, I am only doing what anyone would do for one in need, if I see someone in need and I can help...even if my domain is in the shadows, I will step into the light to help them. I am just thankful that your life is not currently in danger anymore, tis a blessing from the Kami even if....the source of said miracle promises to be that of a Monkey's paw." Yugiri would muse somewhat bitterly as her mind turned back to Solus, "I will check on you...keep watch over you Ifalna, check in on you as you recover your strength...I will whisper rumors in your ear should I find information of your daughter. For now...rest...recover, you will need your strength when we find your daughter. I only pray that you do not find my presence and assistance irksome...or unwelcome." Yugiri would say flashing one last smile before bowing her head respectfully to the other woman, hand upon the door, once last glance before the door was opened...and the Shinobi was gone.
