If there was something scary for a young child, It was being lost in a world she should know. It was terrifying to look around and not recognize anything, not the ground she walked on nor the people she saw on it. She didn't know what happened to her, why she didn't know anything, she didn't remember anything about this place, She.... she wasn't sure she remembered anything about herself at the time. All she knew was that she was small, she was young and she was alone.
And that being alone... hurt her heart, she didn't like it. She knew that being alone felt.... wrong. Why was she alone?
For a while she cried. She cried again and again. She cried because she was scared, she cried because she was alone. She cried because she didn't know anything around her. She cried because she wanted to see something, someone, anything she recognized. She cried but at the same time... she survived, as well she could. Instincts she didn't know she had, but possessed none the less, like motor skills ingrained in her head, like muddied little whispers in her head giving her some hint of what to do.
This is safe Relm.
Now tie it like this Relm... No, a little more over.. there you go.
They leave alone if you....
Maintaining your equipment is important, remember to check...
Many were useful, some useless and... weird. What was she supposed to do with the knowledge she would grow up to be a beautiful woman one day? Or well... she assumed that's what it was getting at anyway. Yet she clung to them. She clung to the shards that were useful, she clung to the shards that were useless. She clung to all the shattered glass that was her mind just to have something!
She did that for as long as she could to help her get by, she did it to get closer to the lights far off, the lights that were surely somewhere safe. she did it as she got closer and it came into view. Soon she would get to the town, it was true-but not before one faithful obstacle was overcome.
The darkness of night consumed the sky, rain fell long and hard. It was a storm.
Relm was not prepared for a storm let alone the creatures that came with it. She was a lost child, pounded by water and unable to fight back properly. The serpent monsters that came with the storm, to hunt the vulnerable prey they could-they weren't something she could fight off at the time, she didn't know how. She tried to punch one in desperation, but it had very little impact,at most make it flinch back some and making the others more angry. In the end she was backed against a tree, Soaked to the bone and closing her eyes. Closing her eyes and hoping for something.... something.... anything....
And a piercing howl filled the area
The girl opened her eyes to see one snake fallen and a large, black dog standing steadfast in front of her. Without mercy it engaged the other two and, it wasn't long before they had fallen. She was frightened at first once the dog turned his attention to her. But... He was nice. and besides he was pretty adorable once you got past the fierce side! The dog seemed to know her, or at the very least he wanted to help her. It was weird, He seemed a bit disappointed when she didn't recognize him. Was he her pet before she hit her head or whatever? And if so.... How did she get such an awesome and cool dog?! She smiled as the dog insisted she ride upon him. She was small enough to do so, and the dog seemed to know where he was going way better than she did, riding on his back, exhausted from her long time alone she finally came to that place she had been working towards all that time-Torensten.
As they came into that town the dog of course set right to getting her into the most comfortable spot. He hadn't yet found anyone familiar that he trusted and such simply found the most warm corner he could and used himself to keep Relm warm after her ordeal. As the young girl began to finally doze off after what seemed like forever a simple thing came from her lips.
"Your gonna need a name right....? how about...."
It seemed to roll off the tongue so easily, so naturally, like a reflex. As she finally closed her eyes she could have sworn she saw the dog smile at what she said.
Why? She just said....
"Interceptor"
And from that day forward they were together in this town. It wasn't long before Relm rediscovered her talent art, with some guidance from Interceptor. Rediscovering it was a joy, like finding a part of herself again. Painting felt magical-like an extension of herself, and she used it to support both her and Interceptor. Selling pieces, taking commissions... finishing art pieces she could do it all! She ended up getting a bit of a name for herself if she did say so herself. People had at times tried to offer help but... Interceptor just didn't trust anyone that she could see, Or if he did it certainly wasn't anyone she had met so far. It was sweet of him to be so protective, but it did mean they were on there own, at least for now.
Today though? Unlike that day so fresh in her memory was one of sunshine, bright in the sky and a smile on her face. The girl had a skip in her step as she traveled the market place. It was time to gather groceries with the art money! She knew what she wanted.... had to make sure to get a good amount of meat for interceptor to, it seemed to be his preference!
Yeah.... she might not have remembered anything... but she had a special partner now, a buddy to share this time with.
And who knew, maybe another new friend was just around the corner!

[attr="class","skullbody"]"Boss let's go the market and get some real food!" Enma yells to Mu. For some reason the shinobi couldn't figure out, this was the floating oni's current obsession. Enma didn't need to eat food. After all his form was just an aetheric projection coming from the sword hilted at his lower back. This wouldn't be the first time that Enma mentioned something about food to Keimusho and it likely wouldn't be the last if he didn't relent to the oni's pleads. It was almost as if Enma was more tired of Mu eating rations than the shinobi himself was tired of eating rations. Though as the shinobi walked towards the market, the more he wondered when the last time that he had a proper meal was. The first thing that came to mind was after the ceremony that King Hremit held for Caius and himself for slaying the Kraken. In retrospect, Mu was beginning to think that may have been a bit too long. [break][break] Maybe Enma had a point, but to a certain extent eating rations were almost nostalgic for the ninja as it was an eating pattern he quickly fell into when he was first training in the shinobi arts, as well as while engaged in missions in Doma. Enma, floating alongside the ninja with a youth's enthusiasm, "Come on, boss, you know you want to," the oni urged. "Think of all the things you could eat using proper ingredients." [break][break] "You seem to be getting ahead of yourself, Enma" the shinobi responds. "It is not as if I am a culinarian of any sort. I'm not sure if I could make something that is too elaborate." Not to mention that he would have to figure out what he could make with whatever the markets could offers. Which would be something he'd like to figure out soon.

When she had first come to these markets the various shopkeepers had of course found such a small girl doing these things seemingly alone strange. Her only companion was the dog ever firmly at her side. Over time however they got used to her, after all the girl had memory issues, what was more her art had become quite popular among the townsfolk. She had done portraits of the businessmen, of their products for them to advertise… even their animals! As such some of the vendors had taken to accepting a commission from as an interchangable exchange with normal currency when paying for her meals for her and Interceptor. This was why she could be seen hoisting one of her larger paintings off of her partner and dog friend, and why said dog friend was now helping her carry that food back through the market.
”Hehe… that's another great day huh Interceptor?”
Said dog had a sort of mixed reaction, he was of course happy for the little girl he traveled with, his charge left from his long time partner. But at the same time he was still very untrusting of everyone in this world. It was good that Relm thought herself a resident of this world, it made things easier for them-the town saw her as nothing more than an orphaned child and her family pet, rather than wanderers from another plane.
Regardless, he of course woudnt allow anyone to take advantage of the small girl, as attached as he was. Like a Guardian Angel, one could say.
It really was a shame that, lacking her memory of the events she has been through-she had all the self preservation of a child half her age when she saw something that interested her. In this case that was the floating monster head floating next to the man in full armor, that she was now running towards eagerly. You know, that thing that would give any seasoned adventurer pause to observe it, much like Interceptor himself was.
But unlike Interceptor and his long time partner Relm was not a gruff, harderend killer.
No she was an eleven year old that very much enjoyed seeing new things, cute things, cool things, artistic things!
And so that was what the pair would see run up to them, with a clear ton of gidiness behind her as she hopped up and down with a smile in her face.
”Hey! Hello! Listen can I paint you and your friend? You both look cooooool! I can make you a copy to! Ahh I just can't miss this opportunity, please!”
Much like Interceptor and his old partner perhaps the pair to had the sense to show concern of the clearly dangerous thing in front of them. Not Relm herself of course, but the food carrying dog very clearly giving them the coldest glare it could manage despite the young artist’s eagerness. In fact Relm noticing such a possibility proceeded to wave her hands to try and dissuade such worry.
”Oh don't worry! He doesn't eat strangers or anything!”
But then she squinted, rubbing her chin in thought before turning to Interceptor for a moment.
”Well, I'm pretty sure anyway, right Interceptor?”
The answer came with… well no answer, Interceptor was very protective after all and thus never stopped eyeing the people they had approached, eventually Relm sighed, clasping her hands together and turning back to the pair.
”Well he won't attack you for no reason anyway! So how about that painting?”

[attr="class","skullbody"]Mu's conversation with his floating companion came to a halt, when a little girl with blonde hair approached with a dog them. That was certainly not a regular occurrence. Most people didn't just casually run up to Mu, unless they were an adventurer of some sort. After all, a masked man cladded in armor is not something that most would consider approachable. That went doubly so if Enma appears next to him, since he appeared to be some sort of demon. It could be much worse, but thankfully Mu has some sort of positive reputation in Torensten due to having a public audience with King Hremit on two separate occasions. Still, he never though a child that young would willing approach him with such enthusiasm. Perhaps a child's curiosity has no bounds? [break][break] Mu raised his brow as the young girl approached them with the request of painting him and Enma. As she asked the question, Mu eyes the dog behind her who looks at him and Enma with the caution that perhaps the girl standing in front of them should have. The little girl was at least aware enough to know that the dog was very protective of her, as she tries to ensure that the dog won't attack her. Despite that insurance, Keimusho felt the need to decline. Not due to the canine, but rather because there seemed to be a lack of parents in the vicinity. [break][break] "I probably shouldn't..." the shinobi begins to respond. [break][break] "Come on, boss. Let her paint us! There's no harm in letting a young artist express herself! Besides I want to be painted." Enma says. [break][break] Mu momentarily raises his hand to his forehead before exhaling a light sigh. He then turns his head to address the little girl. "As much as my friend here would kindly allow you to paint us, are you sure that you should be going around asking strangers to paint them without your parents around?"

At first the man seemed ready to deny her, causing the pre teen to pout, crossing her arms . Ah come on! She couldn't miss this chance! There were lots of cool sights around her home, but it was rare she saw someone like the man before her and his partner. He had this cool dark warrior kind of vibe she hadn't draw yet. How could she resist something like that? She wanted to capture it in her art!
”Oh come onnnnn please? You won't regret it! I'll capture all your best features!”
The floating creature however seemed to support her wants however, causing the young girl to jump up and down in excitement, the look of eagerness clear on her face as she rocked back and forth.
”Yes! Listen to the cool monster head please! I won't get models like you two for a long time I know it! Come onnnnn”
She attempted to give what might call the ‘child pout’ , that is, those eyes that kids give you to try and get their way, along with the frown to accompany. One of Relm’s dreaded skills truly! Along with her unheard of guilt trip ability (As a certain octopus for how that goes!)
Though she'd then stop when asked about her parents, Interceptor noticeably stalking behind her, as if glaring. Relm herself frown, losing a considerable pep to her step.
”I… don't know where my parents are, they should be here I think, but it's just been me and Interceptor since I hit my head or … whatever happened to me, I don't know. No one here is my mom or dad I know, I asked. Maybe they had to go somewhere, heh… bet my dad's some kind of hero, yeah that's defiantly it! Why else wouldn't they be here right?”

[attr="class","skullbody"]The girl certainly was persistent about drawing Mu and Enma (and so was Enma apparently), so much show that she would give a pouting face. If only such a display worked more often for when the Au Ra had to fend for himself as a child in the land of Doma. The young girl would also explain that she has no idea where her parents are since something happened to her and neither would anyone else, she's asked. Enma whispers to Mu, "Think that she's an Outlander like us?" [break][break] "It seems likely, but there's little use in speculating here," the shinobi responds to the floating oni. [break][break] The girl's pouting didn't move the ninja over, but her story manages to. Though obviously it doesn't show through his mask. Her story was a bit similar to the ninja's own early childhood. The least he could do for the girl is let her paint him. [break][break] "By the Kami. To think that you are all alone out here... Reminds me all too much of my time as a child. How have you been surviving out here?" [break][break] "Mu come on, I don't think that a pity party is all that necessary right now. She's probably heard something like that a few times by now. Just let the young lady paint already!" Enma interjects. [break][break] "Well, she does seem to be surviving well enough to afford paint..." the ninja responds. The ninja supposed that there was some type of small work available in Torensten for her. Either that or people were just very generous, to the point that they were also buying her paint. "Alright... You can paint the two of us. I don't see the harm in it. My name is Mu by the way and the floating monster head as you called him is Enma. So, your dog's name is Interceptor right? What's your name?"
