This marks the visual era of Adventu 4.0, our 4th and by far best design we've had. 3.0 suited our needs for a very long time, but as things are evolving around the site (and all for the better thanks to all of you), it was time for a new, sleek change. The Resource Site celebrity Pharaoh Leep was the amazing mastermind behind this with minor collaborations from your resident moogle. It's one-of-a-kind and suited specifically for Adventu. Final Fantasy Adventu is a roleplaying forum inspired by the Final Fantasy series. Images on the site are edited by KUPO of FF:A with all source material belonging to their respective artists (i.e. Square Enix, Pixiv Fantasia, etc). The Great Ninja Yuffie!
The important thing to remember about the situation was that this was completely intentional and all part of the plan. Yuffie felt the need to reinforce that as she hung upside down from the wrought iron fence, her arms waving in vain as she tried to figure out a way to unhook herself. Okay, so maybe this hadn't QUITE been part of the plan. It wasn't HER fault though. It was that stupid pigeon. It tricked her by landing on her head and acting all cute and then just when she lowered her guard it flapped its wings in her face and knocked her clean off the rooftop.
Why had she been ON a rooftop in Torensten instead of just in the street like some non-ninja loser? Well, that was for two reasons. One, running along rooftops was OBVIOUSLY cooler. And two, she was on the lookout for evildoers to prove to that Caius guy that she was premium Dragonblades material. Once she'd busted some bad guys doing evil he'd promote her to at LEAST second in command for sure.
Anyway, after her little fall, she'd fallen right down past a large iron fence with typical spiked fence posts. A fence post that had caught perfectly on one of her leg straps, and left her dangling upside down. Which brought her to her current situation.
"Uh, hey! Heya!" she called out to the first passer-by she could see. "Um, obviously I am in COMPLETE control, but, uh..... little help?" she called out with a nervous laugh. Wow, her head was beginning to feel funny. All the blood must be rushing to it. "No rush 'cause I totally meant to do this but uh, the sooner the better, 'cause this is kinda uncomfortable...." she added sheepishly, dangling helplessly from the fence.

Terra had gotten herself a place to rest inside of Torenstein. That part was thankfully the easy part as this innkeeper seemed to remember her saving the town. It was something that she was grateful for as she did not have a lot of gil on her. Returning to the city streets she was walking along when she finally heard something that caught her attention. It was like someone was yelling out for assistance and her green haired head glanced back and forth til she spotted what she assumed was a female hanging on a nearby iron fence.
Walking over Terra listened to her as she spoke and nervously laughed. Terra could not help but smile and let out a little laugh of her own. ”This looks really uncomfortable. How did you even manage to get into this predicament?” She could not help but speak up as she walked to look around at the entire situation. Seeing everything she moved so that Yuffie could place a hand onto Terra’s shoulder.
“Here use my shoulder to push yourself up. If you are still caught I can cut those straps holding you upside down. Unless that is that you want to stay hanging upside down inside of a side alley that even I could barely hear you from the main street.” Terra could not help herself but keep a smile on her face. This was an amusing situation that she had never been inside of before. This was something that only someone from this world could get into as it seemed that things were not all that world ending consequences to things. It was quite the refreshing breath of air compared to many things she was used to.

The Great Ninja Yuffie!
Someone finally approached, although for a moment Yuffie wasn't sure if she REALLY had green hair, or whether it was just all the blood still rushing to her head. She blinked and decided, nope, definitely green hair. For a moment, she had thought it might be blonde, but, nah, that'd be silly. This girl would have somehow looked weirder with blonde hair than she did with green. Still, it was kinda weird. "Heeeey, punk rock, awesome!" Yuffie managed, making devil's horns with one of her dangling free hands as the girl approached. She paused for a moment, and let out a slight laugh as she tried to think up an excuse. "Uh, it's... a special, new, ninja... meditation... technique. Yep! Helps you be SUPER badass by, like, uh, getting extra blood to your brain cells!" That sounded plausible, right?
"But, um, I'm done now, so yeah, any help down would be super great!" she added quickly, in case the girl walked away. "Okay, here goes nothin'!" She placed a hand on the girl's shoulder, and pushed herself up a little, lifting her leg. It was enough to manage to get her other arm to her leg strap, where she fiddled with the buckle and-
"WAAAAAH!" Of course, as soon as it came loose, she fell, head first, off of the fence. Which, given how she was positioned, meant that she ended up grasping onto the green haired girl's shoulders, before she swung down, around, and ended up in a piggy back position, where she clung for a few moments.
Before realising that she could let go and drop to the floor, which she did, letting out another embarrassed chuckle. "Uh, thanks," she said, scratching behind her head, before staggering a little, feeling woozy as the blood rushed from her head. "I'm Yuffie, by the way. Ninja extraordinaire!" She went to throw some of her trademark punches, but was still dizzy, so instead just settled for striking a pose, her hands on her hips.

Terra could not help but raise an eyebrow as Yuffie called out and said Punk Rock. It was a phrase that she was not really familiar with. Yet it seemed that she might get a lesson inside of. Despite that she was still there to help her. As Yuffie began to speak up her excuse Terra once more could not help but let out a light chuckle. Calling hanging upside down a ‘secret ninja technique’ made her chuckle extend only a few more moments before she spoke.
”I would suggest trying that somewhere… A little more comfortable and easier to get down from. As I would feel hanging on an iron fence would not be a great place for such techniques.” A little chuckle came from Terra as she finished speaking up. Feeling the pressure upon her shoulder she knew that Yuffie was going to free herself. Then it came with a slight release of a cry and sudden pressure on Terra’s back.
It was with some slight effort on her part to stay standing. Thankfully it seemed that this girl was quite light or at least was close to Terra in weight. Though the weight did not last that long. Instead a chuckle came out and Terra turned to face the woman. As she staggered and introduced herself to Terra she smiled at her. Terra was ready to catch her should she stumble a little too far.
“Ninja Extraordinaire? That is a title I can say I have never heard before. I am Terra… a simple traveling magus.” With her own introduction done she gave a very slight bow of her head. That was something of a holdover from her time being around Edgar and the others. Though with that spoken she looked at Yuffie who was in a strange pose but she could not help but chuckle again.
“Can I ask what it is that you were doing before you wound up on that fence Yuffie? As I still feel that was truly not some great ninja technique you were working on.” Her tone was obviously not serious and yet was still partially serious. She could not help herself as it was a tone that she had struck up while watching the orphans back in Mobliz. So it just kind of stuck with her.
The girl pointed out some of the flaws in Yuffie's logic. Namely, that training from a metal fence that she couldn't get down from all on her own was super weird. Which it WAS but if people were just going to CALL OUT her outrageous lies like that what was even the point in lying? God, people were so annoying sometimes. "It... uh, teaches... ninja... endurance... and stuff. So there!" Yuffie countered, decided that this sounded extremely plausible. Fortunately, any further questioning would have to wait until she got down, as an attempt was made to release her, which led to her epic escape. Which, to a casual observer, might have looked like she fell off the fence and directly onto Terra's back, but those people weren't worth listening to. Because they weren't super awesome ninjas, obviously.
After her stumble and getting upright again, Yuffie decided to quickly change track, trying to move on from the situation she had found herself in.
"You've never heard of a ninja?" Yuffie asked back, who had also not really heard of a 'travelling magus'. It sounded like a fancy way to say 'spell caster' to her, which was still a dumb idea. Why be a spell caster when you could just use materia and be a super kick butt ninja who ALSO cast spells? "Wow. Are you from one of those crappy worlds that don't have ninjas?" she asked. Those worlds must seriously suck.
When she challenged Yuffie on what she had actually been doing (in a tone that very much reminded her of her masters back in Wutai when they had been asking exactly HOW a certain thing had become broken or WHY that certain building was perhaps kind of maybe slightly on fire), Yuffie crossed her arms and turned away, for a moment defensive, obviously knowing that she had been caught.
"Ugh, FINE. I was on the rooftop looking out for, y'know, evildoers. I'm totally a Dragon Blade so have to patrol to keep the city safe!" Yuffie explained, before grinning. "Anyway, some monster attacked me and knocked me off the roof. Or maybe it was a pigeon. But they're like little tiny monsters, so it totally counts," she explained quickly, glossing over the details and her constant defeat by birds so that Terra wouldn't dwell on it for too long.

Yuffie’s words about ninja endurance once more made Terra internally chuckle. As she had never met someone who spun such tales with such ease. Well outside of the King of Figaro and his tales of prowess with women. Outside of this one instance and person she had never heard tales that entertained her and yet at the same time made her shake her head. . Though as Yuffie got up and spoke asking a simple question toward Terra she could not help but nod toward her.
”Nope… Closest I knew of was a companion of mine for a time who went by Shadow. Threw sharpened stars and read scrolls of magic to fight others.” She spoke truthfully and without any real filter as she would do. Though she quickly came to realize that this person knew about the world just as Tifa seemed to. Which was a bit of a relief as she would not have to explain herself to this young woman. Yet her mention about not having any ninjas and it being a crappy world made her chuckle. She would call her world a little crappy but that was for different reasons at the moment than not having ninjas.
”Yes we do not have any outside of small bands that really just accosted people and were not all that hospitable to outsiders.” She responded as she stopped chuckling to herself. Taking a seat on the ground she looked over at Yuffie as she started her explanation about what she was doing. There was that name again that stuck with Terra for some reason.
”A pigeon? They are little monsters. Always in the way and loud, annoying birds… but I need to ask. What are the Dragon Blades? I see that there are several recruitment posters around about them and who is leading them? As I am an experienced fighter and magus. I could be of some assistance to them if they would need the help.” Terra spoke softly as she could not help but gloat just a little bit about her own experiences without going into any real detail about them. After hearing from the populace how it seemed that these guys were good, she would not hesitate to help them should the need ever arise.

Yuffie paused, for a moment reaching up to grasp imaginary lapels as if she was some kind of professor of ninjaology considering the evidence that Terra had just put forth that ninjas existed in her world too. "Hmm, well, I dunno 'bout magic scrolls, but we definitely use shuriken. And 'Shadow' IS a very ninja-y name. He MIGHT be a ninja! Maybe he uses scrolls instead of materia. LOADS of worlds don't seem to have any materia, which must totally suck," Yuffie said as she thought about it, offering her expert opinion and approval of this 'Shadow' person. It WAS a cool name. Maybe she should work 'Shadow' into her whole intro spiel? 'Wutai's Shadow'? Ohhh, that sounded SO cool! "Ugh, real ninjas don't ACOST people. I mean, sure, sometimes we ambush 'em. And then rob 'em. And then run off again. Or kick their butts! But it's not accosting! Accosting is totally different!" Yuffie argued, despite the fact she had no idea what 'accosting' meant. "Besides, we were kinda sorta at war. I mean, not OFFICIALLY, Wutai had surrendered, but, the real heroes like ME, we weren't having any of that," Yuffie went on to explain cheerfully.
"Oh my god, I know, right!?" Yuffie agreed as she came over and jumped to sit on the floor next to Terra as she spoke about pigeons ."They're the worse! And they're always after me!" she complained. Always ruining her plans too! "Oh, the Dragon Blades are like, mercenaries or whatever for hire, ready to fight evil! As for who's leading them, well, obviously, that's ME!" she beamed. And then she paused. "Uh, I mean, not officially. Officially, it's some guy called Caius, but, uh, I'm basically in charge. They all know I'm the most experienced, so obviously, they defer to me over, y'know, all the things, and stuff," she 'explained' cheerfully. "I guess you could come along, but there's a totally tough try out! You gotta prove to them what a badass you are!" Yuffie added with a grin, throwing a few mock punches where she sat. "Of course, I passed with flying colours. OBVIOUSLY."

Terra could not help but give a slight chuckle at just how energetically that Yuffie was responding to her. It was honestly like the kids back home in Mobliz and how anytime they did something they had come running to her time and again. Though there was that word again ‘materia’ whatever that was. Though she could just simply ask what it is as she had never really heard of it outside of Yuffie. Yet as she was about to bring it up Yuffie would continue to speak and explain her personal difference between accosting someone and ambushing someone. It made her chuckle and raise her hand to cover her mouth.
”So you also come from a place that has been torn apart by a war that never seems to end? Is there not a single world were there is not some world altering war or madman behind it going around.” She could not help herself as Terra was quite tired of that exact thing from her own world and all her time here while peaceful made her worry. As so many others had come from world torn apart as well by war and strife. Just how many damaged people could you have in a single place before the same would begin anew but with the ‘heroes’ turned into villains this time.
Though as Yuffie began to explain f irst about the agreement with the pigeons then a bout the Dragon Blades she could not help but feel that there might be a chance for her to actually do some good. An organaziation like that might be perfect for someone with her skills. Plus it would give her possibly a home so that she was not living inside of a deep forest anymore. Yet as she spoke about how there is a tough tryout and how she passed with flying colors Terra could not help but smile toward her and pull her cloak around to show Yuffie.
”I think that this should be proof enough of my own deeds. I fought something claiming to be an embodiment of chaos itself in Torenstein. It happened… oh it feels like years ago but I was given this as a thanks from the town’s leadership. Yet I feel if needed I could pass with ‘flying colors’ as you called it. Though I am curious on something. What is this materia you keep talking about? As where I am from we had nothing like that as only a few of us could use Magic naturally. Like this.” As she said the last bit she conjured a small flame that flickers around her hand for a moment before making it disappear again. Such a small application of the Fire spell would do nothing to her so she was more then fine with using it in this instance.

Yuffie considered Terra's question for a moment. The way she described Yuffie's world was, well, if Yuffie was honest, fairly accurate. A war and a madman. Yep, had both of those. Although the war back home hadn't really been endless. It had ended when Wutai surrendered. And then had just what happened really been a war? Shinra had everything and AVALANCHE had nothing and it wasn't like Wutai committed their forces, outside of Yuffi. And they'd won!
Soooooooo basically this meant that Yuffie was as good as an army. Just like she'd always suspected! "Well, the wars kinda come and go. Our last one ended when I totally kicked that madman's butt!" Yuffie grinned, throwing a few mock punches to demonstrate as she got to her feet. "I mean, I had a team, but we all knew I was basically in charge," she beamed. And then she paused, and looked a bit more uncertain. "I thought we killed the madman too, Sephiroth, was his name, but now I've seen him wondering around here... drinking coffee. It's WEIRD. But we definitely saved the world, though!" she added, smiling again.
And then she paused.
"Well, I THINK we did. Honestly, it was kinda not very clear. This big meteor was still falling then there was the Lifestream and Aerith's spirit and storms n' stuff. And Midgar began to get all battered and suddenly I was here and I have no idea what happened. It's... super weird," she reiterated, with a frown. "I mean, c'mon Zephron! You couldn't have waited like, five minutes so I could see how things ended?" she yelled up at the sky.
Yuffie eyed up the cloak as Terra showed her it and considered the backstory Terra offered. "I mean, it's not as cute as my moogle cloak, but it's pretty sweet," she agreed, picking up a corner of the cloak to peer at it a little closer. "If Caius says it's okay, he might take it as proof you can join," she nodded. "Uh, I mean, obviously, as I'm in charge, the final decision is mine, but Caius likes to think he is so I let him pretend to decide," she added quickly.
Yuffie had seen enough people use magic without materia in Zephron by now, but she always thought it was unfair, and a little cool. She looked closely. "Ohh, awesome! On my world, the only person who could do that was Aerith. She was totally the last Cetra. She... died, and it was super sad, but it's okay, because she might be alive again as a kind of life stream ghost spirit thing that stopped the meteor. It was... um, really unclear," Yuffie paused. "On MY world, you need materia to cast magic. Like this!" She held up her hand, and the orb in her shuriken on her back glowed as she produced a similar tiny fireball. "See? And the more you use it, the more powerful the materia gets!" she explained cheerfully.

It seemed that the last of her words had taken Yuffie a few minutes to at least come up with a response toward. Which was something that she had not expected. Yet it was interesting for her. Listening to the way that Yuffie explained that the big baddy was beaten by her kicking their butt made her smile and shake her head. Listening through it all as Yuffie continued along. Explaining how she had a group of people that beat the big bad that had threatened her world. Yet she has said that she had seen her bad guy here on Zephon.
This made Terra’s blood run cold for a moment. A slight cold chill ran down her spine as she could not help but think that the fact Yuffie said her enemy was here could mean only one thing. That one fact made Terra shiver a little as thinking of Kefka being out there almost brought up a panic attack in her. Despite that she listened to that it seemed she had been taken at the moment of victory. Terra nodded as she waited for Yuffie to take a breath. Yet she did not speak as instead she let the air just cool off between them instead of adding to the noise before speaking up. ”I do wonder how things are back home though. So I can sympathize with wanting a few minutes longer before being brought here.”
She trailed off right as Yuffie decided to continue speaking about how she would put in a good word for her with Caius. That was a name she had seen on a few posters across town and on a memorial about a “Kraken” attack. Watching her move and speak about the materia before making the fire appear. She smiled as she lifts up her own right hand and snaps her finger and a flame sprung from her hand once more.
“So it grows alongside your own experience? That sounds amazing for those that are adventurers. I know that my powers grew as we travelled around our world. Yet that is because of my nature. Well that alongside the ‘Magicite’ that would give us knowledge if we carried them as we fought.” She could not help but explain things a little to Yuffie. As it was something that she enjoyed doing.
