She could almost remember everything leading up to this. Almost. She knew she was traveling with three other companions, and they had just finished a major part of the quest they were on. They were getting ready to confront the main villain behind everything they had gone through...and that doing so required them to return to the Chaos Shrine, which is, ironically, where their journey started. But everything after them entering the shrine was a blur. For the life of her, Joanna couldn't recall what happened after that. As if that wasn't already perplexing enough as is, the next thing she realized is that she had no clue where she was. Her memories were fuzzy, but she remembered just enough to know that that she'd quite literally traveled all over the world; none of this looked familiar.
It was obviously a major port city of some kind; at first glance, it reminded her a lot of Pravoka, though that was before she actually started to explore the area, and came to realize that this city was far larger and busier than Pravoka ever dreamed of being. It was both impressive and intimidating at the same time. But more than that, it confirmed what she was already beginning to suspect; this is definitely not the same world she lived in for her entire life. Hell, even in Corneria, she'd never seen the streets of a city so busy and full of life. Which isn't to say they Corneria was always empty and lifeless; far from it, actually. This, however, tool it to a whole new level, and it was honestly a tad overwhelming for the somewhat reclusive healer. Sure, she's traveled the world, but she never saw anything like this.
Nevertheeless, she wasn't sure what to do or where to go. She assumed that a place like this must have an inn somewhere. But she had no clue where to look, and she couldn't help but feel like she was already sticking out like a sore thumb. If nothing else, it couldn't be more completely obvious that she was hopelessly lost and entirely out of her element. She was one for a new adventure, but all of this hitting her all at once was quickly proving to be a little too much adventure. Joanna let out a heavy sigh to calm her nerves. Nothing good would come of just wandering aimlessly and looking frazzled. She just needed to figure out where the heck she was, and everything will work out.
Torensten. A massive, bustling port city of intense size and population. Despite having stayed here for a handful of nights he still found himself overwhelmed by it all. From the buildings, to the people, to the boats and airships that lines the water and sky. It was hard to not find yourself crushed by the imposing weight of it all. Still, Gwyn kept his optimistic outlook. He knew there was something he was supposed to be doing, something back home that required his attention. Or at least he felt like there was. His brief amount of time in the Headstone Forest might have affected him more than he thought. Perhaps all the hazy and clouded memories he had were simply remnants of the forest's effects on him, or perhaps it was the forest that caused his memories to be hazy in the first place. He wasn't sure, all he knew is that this wasn't his home and there was something he needed to find. But what? Was it a thing or a person? Who were they? Trying to remember something that was smothered by a thick, dense blanket of mental fog was frustrating. Rubbing a gauntleted hand over the back of his neck, he closed his eyes as he tried to call to mind some image of his home. Bits and pieces of memory danced behind his closed eyelids; a mountain covered in trees, a pair of wooden makeshift training dummies in the yard of a cabin, an older man who he loved but couldn't recall the name of, a far off kingdom seen on the horizon...but that was it. With a sigh he dropped his hand and opened his eyes once more, peering at the yawning blue sky from within his helmet. There was no use forcing it...perhaps he could find something or someone here that might help him. [break][break] As he continue to walk down the street, he turned his mind to more present issues. Finding a place to live making enough gil to keep himself alive in this place. If need be he could move out into the wilds somewhere and he was certain he could do reasonably well for himself as a hunter and gatherer, but that would not help him find any information about why he was here, where here was, or what could be done about it. A local innkeeper had put him up for a night or two after hearing about his time in the Headstone Forest; mostly out of pity. Apparently most of the people that wandered into there never made it out alive, so he counted himself lucky for that. Luckier still the innkeeper was the pity giving type. Though the last thing Gwyn wanted to do was overstay his welcome and make it seem like he was taking advantge of the nice man. [break][break] The tremendous shadow of an airship rolled along the streets and caught Gwyn's attention. The Dark Knight looked up longingly at the impressive vehicle. He had heard about airships from someone when he was a child, and he could remember seeing them floating gracefully along the horizon from the yard of his cabin. How many times had he dreamed he was the captian of an airship, sailing the winds and breaking through clouds like headwaters? How often had he wished for the feeling of weightless freedom that must come from flying? Well, if he was being honest he supposed he still did. Beneath his black armor and terrifying strength, Gwyn still had the adventerous dreams of a boy. The irony of his appearance and attitude wasn't lost on him. Continuing down the street, marveling at the feat of magic and engineer that was the skyship, Gwyn wasn't paying much attention to where he was going, and hindsight would prove this to be foolish and irresposible as not a moment later he collided with a young woman, slamming into her with his heavily armored form. [break][break] "Oh! I'm so sorry!" He apologized, reaching down an armored hand in a show of good will. "I wasn't paying attention, I hope I didn't hurt you."

The more she wandered around, the more Joanna realized she had absolutely no idea where she was. And the more she started to realize that she had no idea where she was, the more worried she was getting. All kinds of questions were going through her mind. If this wasn't her world, then where was she? How did she get here? Why didn't she have any memory of coming here? Where were her friends? Were they also brought here? Why couldn't she clearly remember them? The list went on and on, and she was beginning to grow more panicked with each unanswered question that popped into her head. The only thing that was clear to her was that she definitely wasn't dreaming. She pinched her own cheek just to be sure, and the small-but-unmistakable jolt of pain confirmed that she was very much awake. Not that knowing that did her any good.
For the time being, she wandered aimlessly throughout the city, trying very hard not to look as overwhelmed as she felt. She still couldn't get over how much more full of life and energy this place was. She also couldn't find the words to explain it, but the fact that the overall technology in this place was more advanced than that of her old world; a lot of contraptions and simple machines she'd never seen before. In fact, the most advanced thing from her world was the airship she and her friends found buried in the Ryukahn Desert, and it was a one-of-a-kind ancient artifact. Yet she could see several airships in the skies above. There were also a lot of people riding on the backs of these large yellow birds she'd never seen before. What was next? People riding dragons?
Were she not so hopelessly lost and confused, she would have found all of this to be quite fascinating and love for a chance explore this place and learn everything she could about it. But in this exact moment, fear and doubt was rapidly outweighing any of the charm she'd otherwise feel about this new place. Which came to a head when she bumped into someone. She stumbled forward as a result of the sudden impact, though she managed to keep her balance and not fall over. Afterwards, she looked up, and her face went pale when she saw who had bumped into her; a man wearing some rather dark and sinister-looking armor. While she could tell from a glance that it wasn't actually him, her mind immediately went to Garland, the renegade knight from Corneria who turned his back on his kingdom and kidnapped the princess.
However, just as she was beginning to panic, the man spoke, and his pleasant tone caught her completely off guard. Enough so that she found herself inclined to respond. "N-no...you're fine. It was my fault for wandering round with my head in the clouds..." She paused for a bit and looked the man over. For some unknown reason, in spite of his alarming appearance, she felt compelled to speak further. Before, she was too nervous to approach anyone about her concerns, but now that she was already speaking with someone, it couldn't hurt to try. Something in the back of her mind was telling her that this man seemed trustworthy, and if she ended up being wrong, it's not as though she's incapable of defending herself. What did she have to lose?
"...to tell you the truth, though...I'm a little...no...I'm very lost. I have no idea where this is or how I got here...even my memories of events up until I came here are fuzzy..."
"You too, huh?" Gwyn said the words before he thought about it. He had only been in this place a few days, and he had already met or heard of other people like him, that found themselves here along side hazy or completely missing memories. Still, he knew how disorienting it all was, and he was thankful he did not have to wander around very long by himself before he had been found by someone who more or less knew what he was going through. It looked like it was time to pay it forward. "What I mean is, Torensten is pretty overwhelming at first. Its much bigger and there are so many more people than where I'm from, so I'm still getting used to it." He gave a small chuckle, not yet willing to let on he was in the same exact predicament she was. [break][break] He looked skyward again as the airship was moving away, bathing the street in sunlight once again. Of course, she hadn't been the only one with her head in the clouds, quite literally that's where he himself had been wanting to be. Aboard one of those massive sky-bound vessels; freedom incarnate...maybe one day. Turning his attention back to the matter at hand, he looked down at the girl and raised a hand, pulling his helmet off and tucking it under his arm. His long black hair falling down around his shoulders and his dark eyes shining in the sun, he gave a soft smile. "Would you like me to show you around for now? Maybe that'll help a little bit, but just so you know, I'm still getting used to the city myself."

Joanna listens to the man speak, raising an eyebrow at the question he blurted out. That said, he was quick to clarify that he was also fairly new to the area. However, she was finally given a name for this city, and with it, confirmation that this was indeed not her world. "Torensten...I see...my memories are unclear, but I still remember just enough to know that there's no such city in the world I come from. So I really have somehow been accosted to an entirely different world. For one, I've never seen so many airships before...where I'm from, there's only one in existence, and it's an ancient relic passed down by the gods. So to see so many of them in the sky is...well, I'm having trouble wrapping my mind around it, even though it's right in front of me." She wasn't sure why she suddenly felt so talkative. She just did.
She watched as he removed his helmet; not a bad looking guy, and seeing his face helped put her at ease. Now she was sure she could trust this man, more than ever. She couldn't help but chuckle a little at his offer to show her around, due to his subsequent admission that he didn't really know his way around himself. The blind leading the blind, as the saying go. Still, she wasn't going to turn down the company. "That suits me just fine. If I'm going to be lost in a place I've never been in before, at least it won't be by myself...though...now I can't help but wonder if my friends are here too..." She pauses a bit, a frown appearing on her face "...it worries me that I don't have any clear memories of them. I remember traveling with them, and some of our feats. But...I can't recall any details about them specifically..."
She let out an annoyed sigh "Whatever pulled me here better have a good reason for doing so. This is already beginning to grate on my nerves." Now that she had someone to keep her company, she was beginning to relax a bit, and her true personality was slowly-but-steadily beginning to show itself. She was still worried, of course. There was a lot going on, and she had no idea what any of it was or why it was happening. But, if nothing else, she was feeling a lot less panicked about the situation. Maybe now she could actually get her bearings and come up with a plan of some sort. "I don't suppose you know of anywhere that serves food, do you?...in all of this mess, I'm just now realizing that I haven't eaten all day. Also, do they accept Gil as payment here?...please tell me they accept Gil as payment."
The Dark Knight tucked his helmet under his arm as he listened to the girl, and it seemed like they were very much in the same airship- so to speak. Pulled into somewhere unknown and with very little understanding as to why or even how. Having been here only a handful of days himself, he was barely established in this world, but he had learned a few interesting things that would be helpful to both of them.
"Gil seems to be accepted here in Torensten, thankfully." He answered, placing a hand subconsciously on his coin-purse tucked into his armor. Strange that she would know about Gil having supposedly come from another world: very curious. The whole situation was strange if he was being honest, and try as he might over the last few days, answers as to why and how were as elusive as ever. Yet he felt pressed for time, like he had to find answers quickly. There was something he should be doing, some task or goal he had though he still couldn’t remember what.
"Food sounds like a great idea…come to think of it I haven’t eaten much since getting here either. The inn I’ve been staying at has a restaurant attached unless you wanted to find something more focused on quality and not convenience." He gave a soft smile, looking away from her and glancing up and down the street, trying to find some hint of a restaurant nearby.
