Now where had he heard something like this before? The dim light of the study yellowed the pages but the information seemed so uncannily familiar G'raha Tia felt as though he was rereading the same reports with the proper names simply switched out for others. G'raha flipped the page to see a crude drawing of the settlement, and rubbed at his temples as visions of two other locations swam in his mind. If not for the structure not being made of Crystal Tower, G'raha would have immediately claimed this another reflection of the Source, but then that would have come with its own myriad set of questions. Still for now his course of action was set. This was too much a coincidence for him, and even if this was not a reflection, it seemed knowledge of the planet could be ascertained there.
G'raha made sure to memorize the maps before leaving the study and putting everything back up where he had gotten it from and thanking the librarians. The thought of adventure rang bitter sweet as he began making preparations to scout the Kahiko Valley, and more important the so called World Sight. One, it reminded him of a time long ago, or not so long he had to remind himself, of his playfulness in teasing the Warrior of Light and learning the secrets of the tower. Two, this time he was without the Warrior and was reminded of building and managing the Crystarium and formulating his plan. This time though there was no one to come save the world. He woldn't even have felt so pressured save the fact he knew Emet-Selch could be making plans first, something he could not allow to happen.
The journey towards the valley was rather uneventful. Though to G'raha he didn't mind much. These were the moments that the tales of eld usually abridged though for him it was like adventuring again for the first time. Although he had taken some losses in his own power, not being connected to the Crystal Tower allowed for him to journey without faltering. No longer bound by a tether of sorts, he was free to stop where he pleased. Nap where he wanted, when he wanted, or he would if he had the time. He sang with his baritone voice, songs he had to learn with the companions of the caravans he took, and learned and forgot names as the same people came and went. For a brief time, he felt like one of the adventurers he had read about. Perhaps he felt like him even for a moment.
Though again he'd have to journey alone. At least for now. The caravan made it's stop at the entrance to the Wailele Forest where a small trading center had been set up to settle payments and handle distribution before sending things further to the waterway. For the most he was undisturbed as he broke off from the caravan superimposing his memory of the maps of eld with the current one he picked up as the caravan had stopped near Sonora. A man with a machete approached him with a promise of a tour guide for a fee. The man seemed peeved when G'raha thanked him but told him his service would not be necessary. A few "it's your funeral, buddy" followed him as he stepped into the vast woods before him.
The vibrancy was outstanding. Much more exotic than the woods of Gridania, he wondered if this must be what it was like to explore the Rak'tika Greatwood had he'd been able to go where he pleased while in Norvrandt. The sweet smell of the earth after a hard rain still clung to the air, and he didn't realize a song was on his voice as his tail swayed to and fro as he made his way through the flora and fauna that popped up at him, his ears ever perked for sounds that he might not be alone out in this great wilderness. The forest eventually cleared into a steep cliff with a narrow path that even made him nervous looking at it winding down into the fog covered valley. He had hoped for some grand magnificent view upon seeing a lost city, but he'd have to wait til he was down the cliff as he pressed up against the wall, and began to sidle his way inch by inch down the cliffside.
Thankfully, without much incident, G'raha found himself at the base of the cliff and on a street leading into the lost city. A ways away the tower stood tall and menacing. G'raha hmmed seeing that the behemoth of architecture was indeed not made of crystal, glinting and glittering to the world around it, but it was hard to ascertain from the distance quite what the strange monolith's properties were. The only way to find out was to get close to it. G'raha reached into his satchel that included his provisions and pulled out his large spool of red yarn. Perhaps a tad pompous of him to choose red, like the red strings of fate, to use as his navigational too, but he did smirk thinking about it. How grand would it be for he, to become the first to discern and learn more about these ancient structures. He wrapped an end round the first post he saw making sure the knot was taught and tight, that he might find his way back if any barriers or passes proved impassable before looking up the multi-tiered city that lay before him.
He hadn't made it but to the first intersection when a mechanism rolled out from an alleyway. The small thing looked like a most miniscule tank as it began to roll up towards him. G'raha almost thought of it cute but reminded himself it was a still an alien being yet to be deciphered. Still, this let him put one of his theories to test immediately. He stood tall, his hand extended towards the little robot, and commanded in a calm, intent voice. "By the royal blood of Allag, I command any servant of the Emperor and the Crystal Tower to show me the path forward." G'raha waited as the thing moved closer to him, the little pipes examining him up and down before
SCREE SCREE SCREE
G'raha winced as the loud alarm pierced his ear, and he shook his head to compose himself. The little tank began driving around him in circles and from the alley he could hear something else beginning to whir and lift to life. So much for a quiet entrance. G'raha leaped over the tank and began to run deeper into the city in hopes of escaping whatever the thing had activated. He wanted to save his strength for research not rumbling after all.

[attr="class","ayab-text"] It seemed even on this new world the sense of wanderlust still claimed her. Cassandra had done much as a Warrior of Light, but that burden did not follow her here. Well, at least not in full. She still worried for the Source and what was happening in her absence. The last time she had seen her friends had been during her last visit to the First. The search for a way to bring back their souls had been under way, and then she had woken up here. Of course, that had been a few months ago by now. Her heart continued to ache for a familiar face among these unknown people and unknown towns. Well, not counting Emet-Selch, of course. She had not crossed paths with the Ascian since she had awoken here and perhaps that was for the best. Her presence seemed to bother him for reasons beyond their final confrontation and his presence certainly provoked a strange emotion from her. [break][break]
But she had heard of an ancient city with technology beyond reckoning and it had reminded her instantly of Allag. Was it possible that this world could be another shard? No, she doubted it. The Blessing of Hydaelyn would have followed her here if it was a reflection of the Source. Her Echo had also been lost to her as well. All she had to her were her soul stones and the clothing she had awoken in. But the odd jobs and missions she had taken had earned her gil! And Alexander had been quite kind to offer her a roof to stay under and a bed to sleep in! At least she had run into one, friendly familiar face! Her fellow Warrior of Light had done well for himself and it was nice to know that she was not completely alone. [break][break]
At present, she had settled with her Red Mage soulstone to combat any possible enemies with. It was her most comfortable form to assume as she could also tap into her spellcraft as a Black Mage as well. Wandering into the ruins had not given her any clues as of yet, but she could not help but marvel over the city. Oh, if only Urianger or Y'shtola were here with her! The two of them would simply spend the entire day scouring these ruins for clues and information. Another pang of homesickness went through her as she attempted to shake away the thoughts and memories. Oh, by the Twelve, she truly did hope she could find a way home at some point. [break][break]
For now, her thoughts scattered the moment an alarm screeched through the air. Cassandra winced at the piercing sound as she quickly began to look around her. There was no one nearby she could see, but she quickly picked up her pace to locate the source of the noise. It meant that someone else had to be here and her first instinct was to help whoever was nearby. What if they were lost? Or had come into this world unknowingly as she had? Silver-gold strands of her hair streamed behind her along with her braid as she took long strides to see a red-haired man jump over the tank. What caught her eye instantly were the unique ears atop his head. Could he be...? [break][break]
She wasted no time as she gathered her aether around her to quickly strike the tank with a Verthunder. It seemed to work as the tank short-circuited with the electricity running through her. Whether it would hold was another thing altogether! "G'raha!?" He was a ways ahead of her, so she felt for the familiar thrum of his aether before using it to teleport herself forward to the slightly shorter Miqo'te's side in an instant. "Somehow, I should no be surprised to see you in the ruins of a city!" Her expression was alight with a brilliant smile as her blue eyes glittered. Now to simply outrun the tank or take it out for good! But for added measure, she spun on the heel of her foot to erect a wall of ice to cover their exit into the alleyway. It would hold long enough for them to make a hasty getaway into the city before all of the security measures here came to life. [break][break]
Now, this was the sort of adventure she was used to!

G'raha didn't stop to catch his breath. His footsteps were hard and heavy, and he slightly bemoaned himself for having caused such a ruckus so early. The only bright said ws that he now knew that he would be relying on his intellect and logic instead of his royal blood to solve any puzzles and riddles going forward. First though he would need to deal with the problem at hand, and he didn't not have the upper one in this case.
Someone called him way too close for comfort. His ears shot up and his tail bristled as he turned to see a Hyur pop from the aether he guessed. He instinctively leapt away watching as she raise a wall of ice against their pursuers. The time for questions would have to wait as he heard something whirring overhead. A drone seemed to be searching for them, and so with a swift unfastening of his cane he sent a thunder spell to shock its systems core making sure to be far away as the mechanical thing crashed to the ground in a spit of sparks and flame.
As he scanned the ruins he noticed a building with a door still in tact on it. "Over there," he called running for it, and slamming the door after they both had entered. He scanned the vicinity for any dangers, but it seemed to be an old homestead. He made quick work of finding a seat cushion and pressing it firm into the window hole, and casting a small fire spell into the mantle to provide them with some lighting. He exhaled heavily letting his shoulders slump for a second before turning to face his new companion.
"Hopefully, that should be us some time to compose ourselves and for the traps to return to their dormancy," he breathed looking at the closed door, and the plugged window. Hopefully the machines were just sight based and had no tracking system to find them. The ruins of the ancient city would have to wait as a bigger mystery needed solved in the moment. "And to whom do I owe the pleasure of this adventure with?" He asked his gaze casting a suspicious glance over the woman. She knew him, but he could not say the same for her. He could think of no reason why if Emet-Selch should be following him, he'd feel the need to disguise himself. He wouldn't accuse or theorize out loud hoping that the woman would be forthcoming. He crossed his arms and leaned against the wall waiting for her response.

[attr="class","ayab-text"] There was a disconnect within her mind the moment G'raha had to lead them safely into the adjacent building for the time being. There was no warmth or recognition in his gaze and perhaps that hit her worse than a punch to the gut. Oh. This must have been how Alex felt when he told her of similar meetings with those from their world and they held no memories of him. Cassandra could not help the stricken expression that crossed her features as G'raha looked at her with clear suspicion. Without meaning to delay an answer, she spent several moments in silence as she tried to make the pieces fit. [break][break]
Had he been pulled from a time before they met? Or from a different timeline altogether? The latter was certainly possible given what she had experienced on the First and his dual existence as the Crystal Exarch from a future doomed by a Calamity. The moments stretched onward as she struggled with the words to answer his question before she settled upon a somber smile at her friend. Well, the one she remembered had been a dear friend. "My name is Cassandra Amell. I am a Warrior of Light from the Source and I can prove so to you," she answered softly. Reaching into one of the pockets of her robe, she pulled out a light blue crystal that still glowed dimly. Not as strong as it had once been since coming here and her ties to Hydaelyn had been weakened. [break][break]
"My Echo does not work here in this world and I can no longer feel my ties to Hydaelyn. I remember my adventures clearly with you, but you do not recall me. So, I can only assume I was pulled from a different time altogether if you have no memory of me. Especially since you used a bow when we first met and not a staff. I assure you, I mean you no harm for whatever my word is worth." Her smile was half-hearted at best as she looked back down to her crystal before carefully putting it away again. There was nothing to be done about it and she had no wish to weigh G'raha down with her disappointment when it was not his fault in the least.
Promise Me You'll Take me on your next Adventure. A Journey. Together. That's all I ask.
G'raha didn't let his guard down until this Cassandra produced one of the crystals of light from her pocket. "I'd assume as such," he responded to her claim of the Echo. "I do wonder if we have not found ourselves on yet another shard," he mumbled more to himself than her as he pondered. "Though even sundered from the Source, Hydaelyn's insight should have been able to reach to those not destroyed by Ascian ploys." Still there were other more important things to think about in the moment.
"A warrior of light?" he paused his ears folding as he put a curled fist under his chin to contemplate. His tail swayed to and fro as the theories ran through his mind. The crystal seemed genuine enough, but from his history there had only been one Warrior of Light since the seventh calamity and all those who helped Louisoix fight the dread wyrm. He did recall from his studies over the tomes that others had been gifted by Hydaelyn with crystals. Perhaps she could have been one of the ones that had risen up after Black Rose took the one he knew, but...
"Beg your pardon we adventured together?" he said finally looking up from his musings. A hmm came from him as he looked at crystal longer. "In theory perhaps," he said his mind working like a cogmachine and not nearly as hard since his plans to defeat Emet-Selch and Elidibus had been won.....well or so he had thought. If there could be multiple shards, and multiple warriors of light and darkness then perhaps time having been changed could have opened a myriad of possible timelines from which one could have found themselves drawn or plucked into. "Being from the source and an ally all be it perhaps in a different time, I think the first of my questions perhaps might be answered. You heard tale of this mysterious ancient tower and likened it to the Crystal Tower, no?" He nodded almost certain that he was in the right here. He didn't mention anything about it perhaps being yet another reflection in case the woman had not met him on the First owing to her knowing him as an archer and not as the Exarch. "Tell, me, are there other Warriors of Light in this land? I'd like much and more to gather as many as are known perhaps even retreating from here to meet them and return with a more proper crew assembled."
He rubbed his hands together and his ears drooped as he realized how rash he had been. "I must say perhaps I was too confident in my own abilities by coming here unaided," he rubbed behind his ear looking over to Cassandra. "Be it far from me to assume such things, but may I implore your help in this matter then? What course of action do you think best we take? Should we continue to go deeper into the ruins, or should we perhaps retreat and calculate our moves?" He wanted to say something about there being no rush, but with Emet-Selch being who knew where he would not jinx such things with his words.
