After Caius' "little" run in with the merged robot transformer thing that had stomped through several blocks in Sonora, cutting and slashing and stamping through everything in its path before he and Spiky had managed to put a stop to it - Caius' body was still a little run down from the fight. He'd taken his share of lumps, and his senses were still a little bit haggard after the stereo system from the transformer had nearly blown his ears off, and he could still hear the buzzsaws going for his head. It had taken him some time to find something for him and Vordun to eat after his little power nap had gone longer than he had hoped, and he hadn't been able to find much in the line of work in the slums today. He had chosen to start there thinking that with how dismal things had been down there, there would be plenty of people needing help. In the end though, people were still recovering from the house attack and weren't really hiring out much.
His conscience won out, and he ended up volunteering his services for repair. That had taken up the rest of the day. As night came, he had decided that it was once again time for a drink. He had been doing that on a whim a fair bit more lately. The drinks kept away the dreams. At least for a little while. He couldn't sink money into drinks forever, so they always came back. But for now, this would do. A few, then off to bed. He wouldn't need to concern himself with visiting Vordun in the morning, so he could sleep. He had decided to send the dragon home to recuperate after the injuries they sustained in the battle. He had sent a letter with him addressed to Celes, asking for her to check on Vordun to make sure that Caius had healed his wounds properly, and to keep an eye on him from time to time while Caius was in Sonora. Caius would find his own way back to Torensten, he decided.
He'd ended up dragging himself to the closest bar, not all that choosey after spending the day volunteering in the slums. And he figured they could probably use the business, considering the location. What he hadn't been expecting was a humble, homey sort of place that made him a little more comfortable than the western bar from before. Caius took a seat at the bar and moved a bit of blonde hair from his face, letting out an exhale as he looked about...
hings were coming along with making this place a bit more than welcoming than the grungy dive bar it had been when Tifa had first arrived. Well, it was still a dive, but a better dive. Progress was important. She only had a small time before opening to clean and the entire place had needed attention, but she'd get there eventually. Today though, she had continued cleaning some after opening because it was a particularly slow night. Apparently there had been some commotion with a monster attack or something. People likely were staying home or busy dealing with whatever was going on. It had happened in a different area of the slums lucky for their bar, but by the time Tifa had thought she should maybe see what was happening it had been taken care of by others. Oh well. At least there were others around fighting the good fight out there. So with how dead it was in the place, Tifa went back to cleaning. She was ducked down cleaning out the shelves under the bar when she heard someone enter the bar and take a seat just above her.
"Just a moment!" she called out, trying to quickly finish up what she was doing. Then she stood up to come face to face with a long haired blonde man she had never seen before. Honestly she had been expecting Benny, their most regular patron who was oddly absent today, though he probably just hadn't bothered due to what had happened. She gave the stranger a friendly smile and leaned on the bar in front of him, "Welcome to Seventh Heaven! My name's Tifa, what can I get you?" she asked him pleasantly. Tifa sized the man up from what she could see. He seemed travel worn, and a bit tired. Maybe a busy day? Hopefully not because of that incident earlier. He was also geared up and seemed comfortable as such. Definitely a warrior of some kind. Just as long as he wasn't here to make trouble.

A young woman with long brown hair approached the counter after hearing him come in. She introduced herself as Tifa, and he blinked a few times as he studied her face. She matched the description that he had been given for a Tifa, for sure. Cloud had failed to mention that she might be running a bar. Or perhaps she was just helping out for a bit of part time, temporary work? He had just seen Cissnei earlier doing the same, doing maid work for a diner. It didn't matter either way, he was just glad to see that whoever Cloud was looking for, they were safe. He wondered for a moment if they had met up already.
"You must be the Tifa that Cloud was asking after" Caius brought up curtly. "I trust that you two have met up already? He was looking for you, last I saw him not too long ago" he added as he considered what to do for a drink. He didn't know the establishment very well, and he didn't even know that much about Sonoran drinks considering how little time he had spent in the city. It was probably best to play it safe, if he could.
"Do you guys have a special?" the mercenary inquired as he peered toward the drinks behind her, trying to figure out what they might be. "Suppose it wouldn't hurt to cap off a first visit with the signature blend, if there is one."
Caius hoped that he wouldn't offend if they happened to not have a signature blend. Considering it was a place in the slummier areas of Sonora, it was possible they didn't, he realized. But it was worth asking nonetheless. He'd be honest if it turned out there wasn't one. She seemed like a nice enough girl, he'd hate to make them think there was anything wrong with the place.
In the four or five days since she woke up in this strange world, Yuffie had spent most of her time exploring and investigating, trying to figure out just what in the heck was going on, where she was and how she ended up there. From what she was able dig up, she learned four major things; 1) she was not the only person to by mysteriously pulled in from their own world, 2) that there were in fact multiple different worlds aside from the one she came from, 3) That this world was called "Zephon", and 4) Materia did not exist in Zephon. That last one physically hurt to learn. Since she ended up leaving behind most of her collection upon coming here, she had hoped to, at the very least, stock up on more. But that wasn't happening anytime soon it seemed.
Although she had to admit it was exciting to explore an entirely new world, it was a bit concerning that she couldn't find any of her friends. She did not want to be stuck here by herself. What if she needed to "borrow" some materia from them? She'd return it, of course. Probably. Eventually. She wasn't the selfish thief she was back in those days, but they were friends. And friends are supposed to share, right? She'd happily let one of them borrow one of hers. Maybe. For a price. But enough about "what if"s and "maybe"s. For now, she needed to get her bearings straight and try to figure what she was going to do from here. Which is what lead her to checking out this Sonora place.
Looking around the place, it kinda reminded her of Midgar, but slightly less shitty. Only thing it was missing were the giant mako reactors and plates blocking the sky for anyone not lucky or affluent enough to live on the upper section. Granted, she was only ever actually in Midgar for a very brief period of time, but she saw enough of it to know that she really didn't like it. Though, in all honestly, she wasn't really fond of the huge cities in general. Edge was okay, though, and this place didn't seem too terrible, but she'd take Wutai Village over a place like this any day. And not just because it's where she grew up. That said, there was a very specific reason she was here on this particular day.
She had overheard some people talking about a bar with a very familiar-sounding name, and it was owned by a woman with very familiar-sounding description. Especially the way they went on about her chest. So there she was, walking into the bar like she was actually old enough to be there. She wore a cloak that obscured most of her face and body, so it attracted quite a bit of attention, especially when she instantly began looking around. More or less ignoring everyone else, she immediately set her sights on Tifa and ran up to her. "Geez! There you are! Do you have any clue how worried I was?! I've been looking for even a remote clue as to where you guys might be, and here you are randomly serving some blonde pretty boy like nothing's changed!"
The tone of her voice as unleashed her barrage of questions contained a mixture of joy, annoyance and relief. She was happy to see Tifa, but seeing her just casually serving customers only lead to more questions. "Wait...how did you even set all of this up in such a short time, anyway?! It hasn't even been a week!"
ifa blinked at the name the man dropped. It was amazing that stoic Cloud could still manage to make some friends along the way. You'd think people would try avoiding him more with how serious (not too mention the giant sword) but nope, he was always getting involved in this and that and making new friends. Part of his charm really, people were so easily drawn to him. It could be a little annoying at times, but also amusing in its own way.
"You know Cloud? Yeah, he showed up just in time to keep his promise. He's pretty reliable, that one." Tifa said, likely more misty eyed then she had planned to be. She couldn't help it. Memories swam to mind and they put a smile on her face. A happy ending could make even the most horrible of stories a fond one. Tifa didn't have a lot of her memories either, so the ones she had gotten back from seeing Cloud were all the more precious to her. It seemed he was her hero in many ways.
"So! A drink..." Tifa said, readjusting her train of thought back to the matter at hand as she suddenly remembered she had a job to do, "Specials... hmm, we don't really have a specific one at the moment. Still building the place up a bit. Buuuut, I could probably whip something different up for you. What are your usual tastes and favorite flavors? I'm sure I can make something that will appeal to you." she offered with a smile. The door to the bar opened and someone else walked in. They were cloaked so Tifa couldn't make them out very well. this kind of garb was hardly uncommon in the slums. Many liked to stay hidden, so Tifa was used to it. She was pretty confidant she could handle any problem patrons anyway.
"Welcome! Please sit wherever you like!" she called to the stranger. She was going to return to dealing with the first customer, but then the new one suddenly ran up and spoke like Tifa should know her. It was a her right? Tifa was guessing from the voice, but she was still wearing a hooded cloak.
"Eh!?" Tifa replied, blinking at the newcomer, "D-do you know me?" she asked. Perhaps phrased a bit oddly then one would normally think, Tifa didn't really know anyone at the moment without all of her memories and her phrasing was meant to showcase this. As for the other questions... Tifa didn't really know what to say. She had definitely been here longer than a week. Just who was this person?

"So I've noticed. Handy sword hand too" he remarked with a small smile when Tifa brought up that he was reliable. It sounded like Cloud had already found her though. Considering how he spoke of her... "The way he spoke about you, I'm glad he managed to find you quickly. Any luck on the guy with a gun arm? I haven't seen him, but then again, I've only been in town for a day since I blew in here" he brought up in turn. He watched her get all misty eyed, and considering all that Yuna had been telling him, that told him plenty.
She brought up that there were no specials, and asked about his tastes. He scratched his head, biting his lip. "I'm not sure what's on offer honestly, which is why I asked. This is my first visit to Sonora where I wasn't gone within the day. So I'm pretty behind on drink options" he admitted openly. "I uh... Don't really have a taste yet either, so... Surprise me I guess?" he suggested, managing a sheepish smile. Someone else burst into the bar, all cloaked and such. Shifty, that. So Caius of course kept an eye on that one. But then the cloaked figure suddenly made a beeline for Tifa, shouting questions at her. And accusing her of "randomly serving some blonde pretty boy like nothing's changed".
"Uhh, thanks?" Caius spoke up, blinking a few times as he watched Tifa be peppered with questions. Apparently this person knew her, so he just stayed quiet from here.
Yuffie frowned at Tifa's rather confused response to her questions and comments. When Tifa asked if she knew her, Yuffie wasn't sure what she found to be more baffling; the question itself, or the awkward way she had actually worded it. "...what the...do I know...of course I know you!" As one can imagine, Yuffie was very confused. Admittedly, confusing her wasn't exactly difficult, but this was a bit different. She couldn't help but feel something ominous about this situation, and it was beginning to bug her quite a bit. Figuring maybe she just didn't recognize her with her hood on, Yuffie pulls it back, revealing her face to both Tifa and Caius. "Look, it's me, Yuffie."
She had hoped that would be enough to clear up any potential misunderstandings, but the ninja's heart sank when it became clear that Tifa actually didn't seem to remember her. At this point, she was beginning to panic a little. "Whoa...hold on! It's me, Yuffie! Don't you remember? We stopped Serpiroth...twice, even. And then there was the time Vincent busted up those ex-Soldiers! Seriously, if this is supposed to be a joke, it's not a very funny one! It was bad enough dealing with Cloud's janky memories; don't you start now!" Lord knows she wasn't about to go taking any dives into the Lifestream anytime soon; not if she could help it, anyway. Assuming this strange world even had a Lifestream.
She then looked to Caius, having momentarily forgotten that he was even there in the first place, let alone completely failing to notice his confused expression of gratitude. Perhaps it was her fears getting the better of her and making her more paranoid than usual, but her first instinct was to give him a glare as she turned to him "You seemed to be pretty friendly with her a moment ago. Do you know anything about this? So help me, if you've done anything to her, I will shove a Hedgehog Pie so far up your ass that its quills will poke out of your eye sockets!" Yuffie might be a bit of a shitlord, but anyone who would dare mess with her friends does so at great personal risk.
uy with the gun arm? Tifa had no idea what that meant but Tifa didn't get the chance to ask about it. The new girl was quite loud and far more confusing. Sephiwho? Actually, the name rang a bell, but it was a bell that was far off in the distance and Tifa couldn't recall everything exactly. Though, something about it... she really didn't like it. In fact, if she was honest, she hated that name. It seemed so unreasonable, not to mention unlike her, to just hate something for no reason. However, that was how she felt hearing it. And what was she talking about, 'Cloud's janky memories'? Cloud seemed to remember things just fine. Wait, she knew Cloud too? Then the girl rounded on the blonde customer and started chewing him out. She even threatened him! Tifa's eye twitched.
"YUFFIE! Stop pestering my customers!" Tifa shouted suddenly, and in a way that was familiar and seemed to imply this wasn't the first time she'd scolded the girl. Then she blinked, surprised by her own outburst. But she was sure of it now. Being annoyed with this girl definitely felt familiar. She also had a sudden urge to hide anything of value. Not that there was much here. Tifa turned back to the customer.
"Sorry about that." she said with a bow, "You said surprise you right? If you're not a big drinker, how about something sweet without too much kick?" Tifa offered, thinking something with more flavor might be better. She went about mixing the drink and looked over a Yuffie.
"I've actually had memory problems since I woke up here. But you definitely seem familiar to me." she shook the beverage and poured it, "I'm sorry I can't recall anything at the moment, but I am glad you're here." she said with a smile. And her memory would trigger with her here. Then she turned the smile to the customer and passed him the drink.
"Try that out and let me know if it's too strong or not strong enough." she said. Tifa had kept the alcohol content pretty middle ground, figuring that was as good a starting place for someone who wasn't completely new to alcohol but didn't know what they liked yet. It also had some juice to make it sweeter and more palatable. Hopefully he'd like it, but if not he should have a better idea of what direction he'd like to go in from there.

There was some drama going on here and Caius wasn't entirely sure what it was all about. Tifa seemed to have no idea what the sassy child was talking about, and all of a sudden, there were threats being thrown at him by the child. Caius just continued to stare at her, his eyelids lowering as he let out an exasperated sigh. He rubbed his temples as if it would soothe the anxiety and make him any less "done" with all of this. "Between this and the robot house thing, I should have just stayed in Torensten" Caius commented bluntly. He needed that drink more than ever now.
Still, he had at least paid attention to her rambling to some extent. Something about stopping a Sephiroth twice, there was a Vincent (he'd remember that name later) and he guessed she knew Spiky? Apparently there was history there, history that Tifa then confirmed when she seemed to know the increasingly salty child's name. He didn't know a whole lot about what was going on, but he supposed it was good to know. Tifa remembered he was a customer quickly enough though, and she made a suggestion. He smiled gently as he nodded his head. "That would be great, thank you."
He overheard the two of them talking about Tifa having memory problems as Tifa poured his drink. He'd heard about people who came from other worlds showing up with amnesia, and it was becoming a fair bit more common lately. Was whatever that was sending them here doing that? Why? Was it malfunctioning or something? He just... Didn't know. And had no real way to find any sort of answers. He nodded his head in a soldier's affirmative when Tifa suggested he try the drink out, before battening down the hatch. He smiled lightly once he had gulped it down, nodding his head in approval. "It's good" he brought up. "You have good taste."
Yuffie was very understandably caught off guard and Tifa suddenly snapped at her, prompting her to suddenly snap back and stand up straight as if being yelled at by a drill sergeant. It wasn't often that Yuffie made someone mad enough to actually yell at her like that, but when she did, it usually had an effect on her. That said, it was beginning to look like Tifa was at least starting to remember her; that or some latent memories came bubbling up. Whatever the case, it made her calm down a bit, and it was in that moment when Yuffie realized that she might have overreacted a bit. Maybe. Just a little bit.
Thus, in a rare moment of maturity and actually taking responsibility for her actions for once, she swallowed her pride and looked to Caius, offering a polite bow to him as she spoke in a much more civil tone.
"Sorry about that...I guess jumped the gun a bit. I was...a little panicked." Despite her somewhat awkward way of putting it, seeing as how it's somewhat rare for her to actually apologize for something, the tone in her voice made it pretty clear that she was genuinely remorseful. From there, she listened to Tifa explain further about how she's had holes in her memory since coming here, though she seemed as though she was at least starting to remember. It was better than nothing, at least. "What about now? Has meeting me here jogged anything?" While waiting for an answer, she then turned back to Caius. "Sorry for being so rude earlier, but you still kinda come off as someone who knows a lot about what's going on...or maybe you've just been here longer, 'cause something tells me you aren't from this world either. Anyway, is this normal? People losing their memories like this? And if so, how come I can remember everything just fine?" She wasn't trying to badger him or anything of the sort, even if it might seem that way to everyone else. She just really wanted some idea as to what the heck was going on here.
