Welcome one and all to our beautiful new skin! This marks the visual era of Adventu 4.0, our 4th and by far best design we've had. 3.0 suited our needs for a very long time, but as things are evolving around the site (and all for the better thanks to all of you), it was time for a new, sleek change. The Resource Site celebrity Pharaoh Leep was the amazing mastermind behind this with minor collaborations from your resident moogle. It's one-of-a-kind and suited specifically for Adventu. [attr="class","dorado2"]She's not sure how she is supposed to feel with a card handed over to her, containing a name of someone she's about to meet, and a table for her to go to that'll allow her to meet aforementioned person she's about to meet-- oh, oh no, she's already doing it, beginning to talk in circles and overlapping even in her thoughts, this isn't good this isn't good should she bring some food or something more than this bottle of orange juice wait is orange juice enough should she get some other juice maybe grape or strawberry or melon is melon juice a thing melon slices might be better does this person like melon maybe they prefer apples apples are nice when covered with some cinnamon and sugar Urianger once baked some for a treat and gave her some tasty honey milk with it does this place have honey milk that's a--
Oh, by the stars above, she's already doing it.
Sitting there stiffly on the stool, her hands clenching tightly at her knees, she feels like shattering into a million pieces. Because, while this might be a casual random sort of encounter to others, it is her first date and decidedly not in a manner she expected to have it. No, she always imagined if she were to have this thing happen, it would be after a lengthy courtship like the things in those old books she loves getting her hands on. This is appealing in itself, though. Like ripping off a bandage! Getting it out into the open to expose her to all sorts of things!
But, oh, she wishes she had something cuter to wear. Some time to ask someone to teach her how to apply make up. Or at least a bit of perfume to dab around her ears. That's what people do on a date, don't they? But this 'Jo', will they even care? Will they be the sort of person who is used to this, or will they take one look at her, laugh, and stand her up?
...annnnnnd back to circle logic. Poor thing, she'll be vibrating with nervous energy by the time her blind date arrives!

"W-wait...a blind date? W-what do you mean a blind date?!"
Jo looks to the staff member incredulously as they point out the questionnaire that she had signed; it was then and only then that the girl realized its actual purpose. "W-wait...I thought that was for some kind of raffle or something! No one said anything about a blind date!" The staff member shrugged as if to say that wasn't their problem, and nudged the poor girl along to the table she was supposed to go to. Poor Jo could barely wrap her mind around going out on a date with someone she already knows; nevermind going out with someone she's never actually met before until now. What if they were mean or unattractive? Would she really have to spend time with them even if they're unpleasant?
Of course, in this instance, Joanna ended up having the opposite problem. Upon arriving at her table, she looked toward who her "date" was, and couldn't help but blush brightly. She was so pretty. Almost too pretty. Almost immediately, she couldn't help but notice the similarities between herself and Ryne; particularly, the long blonde hair and blue eyes, as well as them dressing in predominantly white, though it seemed Ryne's outfit lacked the blue and gold accents that Jo's had. Still, she couldn't help but find that Ryne was much pretty. She didn't have enough confidence in her looks to consider herself especially attractive or pretty. Cute? Maybe. Tomboyish? Definitely. But "pretty" felt a bit beyond her.
Neveetheless, she steeled her nerves and, after confirming once again that this was who she was supposed to be with, took a seat across from Ryne. Already, she was feeling rather awkward, still trying to wrap her mind around the fact that this was supposed to be a date. And while she was hardly displeased with who she ended up with, she couldn't help but feel like she was out of her depth a bit. Already, she was a bit of a nervous mess, trying (and failing) to come up with something to say. Something to break the ice. Eventually, she managed to at least get out something of an introduction. "Um...h-hello. M-my name is Joanna...though, everyone just calls me Jo...a-anyway.." and just like that, she was back to having no clue what to say.
The girl before her, garbed in attire of white, blue, and gold, bears a darker shade of blonde than she herself, like sunlight woven together to spill forth from her being. Eyes like the sea, turbulent blue that someone could drown in, go along well with it. She seems young, and in that moment, she's thankful for that. It isn't as if age holds much meaning to her personally, and yet, finding common ground with someone her own age in a situation where she is on her own sounds a lot easier than trying to appeal to a person who has seen much more than she can even imagine. Unless, of course, that she is entirely wrong in that regard, what with time magic and peculiar youth elixirs and-- she'll trust it for now, no questions!
"I-I didn't expect to meet an angel tonight," she blurts out without thinking. A pink hue spreads across her cheeks as she smiles, eyelashes fluttering across her cheeks as she closes them. "I'm glad it is someone like you." Somewhere, far across time and space itself, Thancred is most likely facepalming for hitting on someone in the Crystarium without realizing she was close enough to hear.
"Do you like food?" A pause, then a light rushing sound. "I... I suppose everyone likes food! What... what I meant is, do you have a favorite? Thing? To eat?" Pull yourself together, Ryne! You can do this! "T-The drink is on the house, b-but I think we have to buy our own food. S... so! Order whatever you like! L-Let me treat you, please!"

Jo was relieved that she, if nothing else, seemed really kind. Lord knows she's met plenty of people seem pleasant on the outside but are actually really nasty on the inside, and she was more anxious than usual, so she'd be lying if she said such a possibility didn't cross her mind in a very brief moment of panic. Thankfully, that didn't seem to be the case. If anything, she couldn't help but notice that Ryne seemed almost as awkward about this whole thing as she herself felt. Which was a small comfort, to say the least. Maybe this wouldn't be too bad after all. However, that was when Ryne's comment finally registered with her, and the poor girl somehow turned even redder than she already was.
She wasn't used to being complimented in such a manner, so it caught her completely off guard. "A-an Angel? M-me? No no no you're way prettier than I am! I-if anyone here is an angel, it's you!" Given the flustered stage she was already in, it didn't take long for Jo's own words to register, allowing her to achieve an even greater state of awkwardness. Even though she blurted it out without thinking, she couldn't help but worry if saying such a thing was too forward. Especially with someone she'd only just met. Or was something like this normal for a date? The realization that she was even more out of her element than she realized was hitting her like a ton of bricks. But she couldn't say she wasn't enjoying herself somewhat.
In spite of their apparently mutual awkwardness, neither of them seemed to be dying from embarrassment, so at least there was that. When asked about what food she likes, Jo paused to think on it for a bit. "Hm...well, fresh fruit is pretty great...also anything with a lot of cheese or pasta...or both. As long as it's not spicy...I don't handle 'spicy' very well...what about you?" Finally, when Ryne offered to treat her to something to eat, she gave a surprised blink "Oh...okay. Thanks..." Feeling too flustered to say anything else, she quickly started scanning a menu. She was enjoying herself, but she wasn't feeling any less anxious.
[attr="class","dorado2"]The compliment returned earns a quiet squeak from Ryne, who does a fair job at swallowing the sound and covering it up with a sheepish, happy little smile that makes her eyes twinkle. Once the other girl settles down and begins to look at the menu, the blonde hastily begins to do the same. Something with fruit, something with cheese, something with pasta, nothing spicy! Something as sweet as the pretty thing across the-- no, no brain, stop that! Stop getting all dopey and stupidly giddy!
(She wonders if Gaia is eating well right now. Would Gaia laugh at her, or give her a look in exasperation, seeing her like this? Oh, oh, she shouldn't be thinking of Gaia at all, that just will make her miss home even more!)
The provided orange juice, hearty stir fry, cream croquettes with crab meat, and kupoberry mousse seem safe enough to try. She doesn't have a lot of experience with the culinary world, having relied on word of mouth to find out what is good from places about. The restrictive lifestyle in Eulmore she endured didn't exactly give her much of a chance to figure out what she likes and doesn't. Rice and vegetables are all well and good, but there are so many things out there to try!
Waiting for their orders to come gives a bit of time to settle down. Calm down. She tries, she does, but her heart feels like iti s going a thousand yalms a second, and that doesn't help her at all. Hands fidget on her lap as she leans forward a bit. "Are you a local here?" Questions are good. Questions help make conversation flow! "Me, I'm not at all. It's a lot to take in and adjust to, and I feel like every day there is something new happening. That isn't bad, just... not familiar." Her gaze softens. "If you aren't a local, how has it been for you?"
