And there he was. He hadn't gone far, it seemed. The "guy" in question was dressed far differently from the villagers, and seeing as he wasn't far from his targets, it was clear who the culprit was. Stepping past the formerly burning houses, Caius motioned toward the villagers to tie up the bandits that he had been watching over, not putting his blades down until they did. The villagers obliged purely on the fact Caius had helped them, and he surely had a reason for wanting these people tied up. Once they were secure, he walked toward this "guy", who seemed to be wearing garb that would certainly make him blend in with the night. He was curious if that was how he had arrived, through the shadows, and why Caius hadn't seen him until now aside from when he had incinerated the bandits to nothing.
"You seem to have as much of a problem with these bandits as they appear to with me" Caius commented, looking the man up and down. His guard never went down, even if he wasn't actively wielding his blades. They still remained in his hands and didn't disappear. In case either the bandits came back... Or if the man himself was another that was trying to hurt him.
"Pardon my sudden questions, but... What do you know about them? Would you know why they impeded me from helping the people in this village?" He asked, then. "Or are you perhaps the one that sent me the letter? I was told that a group of bandits was intending to do harm to the villagers here, and that my help was being requested to get here before it was too late. I arrived to find the village in flames, but I've yet to find any leads as to who wanted my help. The only lead I have is that I was told bandits were holding this village up for tribute, and then I'm attacked when I'd arrived. And the villagers don't seem to recognize this lot who attacked me... Which kind of kills my leads."

Keimusho had finally get a good look at Caius as he made his way towards him. He gleamed at the mercenary up and down. A gunblade he wielded, but a Garlean he was not. Not that there was other reason to suspect such. The Au Ra never seen anyone not of the Garlean Empire wield a weapon, which begged the question once more. Where in the hells was Keimusho taken? It was a question Keimusho had little time to think of due the previous circumstances of the villages flame, though this was something that he originally intended to ask the bandits, but perhaps the blond-haired man would prove more cooperative than the enemies that chased for his head. Unexpectedly a barrage of questions would be thrown the ninja's way instead. It would seem that he was clueless that in a way, he was the cause of the fire since the bandits were seeking him. This slightly irritated the ninja, but nonetheless he went on to answer the man's question.
"The reason you ask? I know not all the details, but it 'twould seem that these bandits set this village aflame because of some sort of bounty on your head based on the word of one of the more talkative ones. I'd had hoped to restrain more of these bandits to gain a more insight, but as you can see we have only the three here.", said the Au Ra as he paced around to look at his surroundings. "If mine answer was satisfactory, might I trouble you for some questioning of my own? By the Kami, where or what is this place? I remember being in a confrontation with the imperial viceroy and suddenly awakening in these woods, a place that I cannot seem to pinpoint on my map. It is imperative that I get back to Ala Mhigo. so might you be able to point me in the right direction?", the ninja asked.
Obviously the last question was one that Caius nor anyone else in the vicinity could give satisfactory answer because this is not the world of Hydaelyn. Even though Keimusho realizes that he is in unknown lands, that fact alone is not enough to point to another world. That fact would have to be pointed out to the Au Ra by another.
There was a bounty on his head? And this whole thing was merely a setup to lure him into the open? Caius was clearly horrified at the revelation, less about the bounty but more that the bandits had gone so far as to set fire to a village they had lured him to, so he would be occupied and vulnerable. Some of the more curious villagers had followed them, and a chorus of gasps emitted from nearby when the ninja revealed the culprit of the fires. Caius was still speechless, but he could hear them. Turning his head back to them, he spoke up.
"The bandits are yours, seeing as they committed this crime to your village. I apologize that my presence has caused you such strife."
Caius was holding in his anger. And believe me, the mercenary was absolutely furious. He very much had already considered just killing the lot of them, but cooler heads prevailed for the time being. He managed to at least temporarily quell his anger in time to hear the ninja from before ask a few questions of his own, and Caius realized he was new to this world quite quickly as he nodded his head.
"You've aided me and these people, so its only fair. You're in Zephon, friend" Caius responded. "Odds are you've been sent to this world just as so many of us have over the last few years. My apologies if this comes off as a shock, we've all been through it too so we can understand. But I've been here a long time and have yet to find a way back to my own world. Who knows when that opportunity might ever come along. Your best bet would be to find the nearest city and begin to rebuild, find a way to make yourself some gil to sustain yourself and make peace with the life you have here until the possibility we might go home."
He pointed out to the distance. "The closest town is Torensten. If you're looking for work, there's always people looking for competent mercenaries. There's also a mercenary guild called the Dragonblades, who specialize in honorable jobs meant for helping people like these folks, if that's of interest to you. They're most commonly based there. Ask around for one of the leaders, Caius Dragelion and Celes Chere. I'd try to be less quick to incinerate people if you go in that direction though. Odds are you scared even a few of these villagers with that, and word travels fast around here. Gotta learn to balance being intimidating - which you've got down to a science - and being someone people can trust."
He bowed his head. "Thanks for the help, as well. I couldn't have saved as many people as I did with the time we had without you covering me. I'll buy you a drink if I see you again in Torensten, but I'd best get to trying to interrogate one of these clowns. I need to find out who set this bounty."

Keimusho's eyes widened at the revelation. The fact that there where other worlds was a concept that was completely unknown by the ninja, but as the mercenary had told him, it was something that was happening to many individuals and it was evident that most would be equally shocked or even more so. Still though it would be something that the Au Ra would have to accept, despite the potential dangers in his homeland. In fact, he believed that the Kami brought him here for some purpose, which made this predicament of his easier to accept. The ninja was also rather grateful for not only the mercenary granting him satisfactory answers, but also giving him ways in which he could potentially function in this world.
The mention of the mercenary guild known as the Dragonblades reminded the ninja of the Adventurer''s Guild he heard operated in Eorzea. Though these mercenaries seems to take most priority in helping people. It was something that peeked his interest, but the ninja was not ready to rush into that type of commitment. Besides the ninja preferred to work alone if he could help it. Then there was also some skepticism or rather criticism to be had due to the bounty that caused this village to be victim of arson. "Are you perhaps a member then? One of their leaders? If so then are bounties placed on the head of thine members common place?" Though Keimusho was met with a criticism of his own because of the bandits that the ninja dispatched of. It was something that Keimusho would also need to respond to. "Mayhap it wasn't entirely necessary to dispatch of the bandits, but in the heat of the moment you may have your hand forced and will be forced to make tough decisions in such little time. And for that I must apologize for any villagers scared by that."
It was not that Keimusho regretted his action, however. As a shinobi it was neccesary that he'd be quick and decisive about any action he takes. What was rather amusing was how Caius suggested that he'd become someone trustworthy. Would the common folk place any sort of trust in a shinobi? It's doubtful, but perhaps shinobi are nonexistent in this world or at least in this area. The apparel of the surrounding suggested nothing remotely close to the Far East. Though asking such questions now would prove unnecessary in these current circumstance. Perhaps it would something that he'd eventually look into himself once he gets accustomed to being in Zephon.
As Caius bowed his head, the Au Ra returned the gesture with a bow of his own as he positioned his hands on his thighs then proceeded to give a Far Eastern bow. "If you are going to interrogate perhaps, I can prove to be of assistance then?"
Caius had been the one to tell this news to a fair few people by now. So he wasn't surprised that the man seemed to be quite shocked about it. Caius had told it so many times by now that he had become quite casual about it. He seemed to accept it quickly though, and didn't ask too many questions on the matter, which Caius hoped meant that his directions to the nearest city and possible avenues for work were satisfactory. He certainly wished he'd had this kind of guidance when he had first come here. He'd needed to find these sorts of things out through trial and error. But that had been most of Caius' life, really.
Caius had left his part in the Dragonblades out in order to keep from pressuring the ninja to join, but they asked. He shrugged his shoulders, and decided to be honest on the matter. "Yes. I'm Caius" He responded, answering the question as to whether he were one of the members, or leaders. "I left my own identity out of it as I didn't wish to put any pressure on you when you're still finding your way around, and figured if you were interested, we could speak on the matter when you're settled."
Though he shook his head to answer his next question.
"This is new, this bounty thing. I'd like to hope the other members have not had bounties placed on them as well, but I guess I'll have to do some digging. There's a good chance I've just pissed off enough bandits that they've decided I'm a target" He admitted.
"I understand that necessity is necessity, of course" He agreed, when the ninja brought up his reasons. He even apologized to the villagers, which he was happy to see. He was clearly a good man, and Caius wasn't trying to scold him, especially when he helped them out of a tight spot. This was advice for doing what he does in a world like Zephon, nothing more. An attempt at helpful guidance for someone trying to find their way. "But by what I saw, you were in complete control of the situation. Their deaths could come off to some as... Unnecessary, and people remember those kinds of things. And word travels fast. I've found the best way to help people is if they know who you are, and trust you. It's something my group tries to practice. It can make the job a lot easier."
With that out of the way, it was time to take care of business.
When they returned, the bandits had been tied up, and the villagers were working the ones that the ninja had taken on. Caius turned to him.
"You sound like you have some experience. Care to do the honors?"

Keimusho's suspicions on whether Caius was one of the leaders of the Dragonblades proved true. He would have to be someone of relative importance for someone to decide to place a bounty on their head. The fact that Caius didn't want to pressure him to join was rather honorable. In fact, it kinda reminded him of when the Au Ra was given the offer of joining his clan back in his homeworld. Though what was different was that it was more of a necessity for Keimusho to join his clan than Caius' mercenary guild. Also, the mercenary implied that this was just one possible avenue to help people.
The mercenary then went on to accept the ninja's offer to not only assist with the interrogation, but to take the initiative. Interrogation was also one of the many tools in the arsenal of the shinobi, but Keimusho would have to take caution in the methods he uses to prevent causing the villagers any more stress.
"Gladly.", the ninja responded to the mercenary's offer to interrogate. "But before that, since you gave to me your name, perhaps I should give you the same courtesy. My name is- Wait, apologizes that I am rather hesitant to reveal mine name with the number of people around. My work is done within the shadows and I'd prefer to keep that luxury. Though if you needs refer to me with a name at moment you may refer to me as Mu. I shall reveal to you my true name when the potential for lurking eyes has lessened."
It was at around this time that the ninja turned to see that the bandits awoke from the blow that the Au Ra dealt to him. The perfect time to start interrogation the Au Ra figured as he walked into the vicinity of the tied-up bandits. Keimusho figured that threats of violence were unnecessary as these bandits proved to be rather talkative if they themselves weren't in the compromised situation, but now that they were tied up the ninja was sure that it would take much effort to make them talk.
"Ahh, so you are awake I see. Okay then, I guess that it didn't take long for you to realize your compromised situation. We've already established that a bounty started all of this and as contributors to the damages you shall answer a few questions. I'll start you off easy with two. First, whom was it that offered this bounty and second, why in the Hells would burning down an innocent village be your tactic to seeing it fulfilled?"
A cold stare from the ninja met the eyes of one of the bandits that he interrogated. Caius perhaps had one thing right about the ninja. Intimidation was something that Keimusho had down to a science and it was a trait that more often than not, aided in an interrogation.
“Mu” He repeated, as the ninja indicated that he wished to keep his real name a secret from prying eyes. The mercenary blinked a few times, but eventually just nodded his head and shrugged his shoulders as if it were no big deal. “To be honest, whatever in your old world that necessitated secrecy to that degree is in your old world. But if that is to your personal comfort, then I’ll respect it.”
Caius knew that after this he would probably keep his name a secret at times when he felt it necessary since it seemed that he had made himself enemies here. But for this “Mu” that was not the case right now, by what he was telling him. Still, if it was what he wanted, Caius had no reason to complain. He'd given his commentary, and that was about all he was going to do about it.
They had a bandit to interrogate anyway.
As intimidating as the ninja looked though, the bandit just spat at him when he tried to question him. Caius supposed he wasn't surprised, he hadn't gotten much info from him earlier either just from looking tough. Deciding to take the initiative, Caius realized a ploy he could play as he drew his gunblade.
"Does anyone mind if I shoot him?" Caius asked the villagers. "I mean, he and his ilk did try to burn down your village... Killing him would be swift justice for the lives lost today, perhaps more than he deserves, no? If the others don't talk after I kill him, well... If none of you object, then I have no qualms about just killing them too before I hunt down whoever set this all up. I'll find them eventually, after all... I have a dragon. I can track people. With or without the help of these arsonists."
Nobody seemed to object to Caius' question, so he pointed his gunblade at the first bandit. "Well, I think the village has spoken. I'll find who did it with or without you. Whether you make this easier for me or not, and whether you live or die, is up to you I guess."
Caius had spoken these words with absolute confidence, playing up the people with a bit of theater that seemed like he was securing their cooperation should he choose to shoot them. But the bandit just glared at him.
"You're bluffing" The bandit spat. "You think me for a fool? How many times do you think the leader of the Dragonblades can go without killing anyone who's helpless or defenseless, before people realize? You're bluffing. You won't touch me when I'm bound like this. You don't do that."
And that got a smirk out of Caius. Because...
"You're right."
He let out a mock sigh, as if he'd just been had. Truthfully, Caius had hoped he would take the bait, thinking that with the people's support, Caius would gladly cut him down. He looked to Mu, then, and chuckled lightly. "Perhaps there is some merit to your whole identity hiding game" He joked lightly, before looking back to the bandits.
They might know these things about Caius, but there was one thing they neglected.
He always had a Plan B.
"I may be like that... But he's not."
Caius motioned toward Mu then, as he stepped back, arms relaxed behind his head. "My companion does not subscribe to such niceties, as I'm sure your friends have realized by now. And nobody here would care if he struck you down here and now. So, what's it going to be?"
That seemed to do the trick, as with that cold glare from the ninja, they seemed to begin to fall into line. One finally spoke up.
"The boss! It was the boss!" He cried. "Our boss, Shigureh of The Original Sin! He says you've pissed on his business operations for too long and need to go! Said he'd pay a fortune for whoever put you down, by any means necessary!"
"Any means necessary" Caius repeated coldly. "And that made you think that luring me here with a letter and burning this village to the ground to keep me here so you could ambush me was smart?"
The bandits didn't answer from there, and Caius scoffed in disdain as he looked to the villagers. "They're all yours. Do with them as you will, as far as I'm concerned, they're your prisoners for what they did to your village."
With that, Caius began to walk off, motioning for the ninja that he was leaving, as Vordun soon followed suit.
"Thank you" Caius spoke to the ninja when they were out of earshot of the villagers. "I don't think that would have worked without you."
His demeanor had changed, his expression was all business. The fact they had gone this far to ambush him was running at the forefront of his mind.
"I'll help you get to Torensten if you wish. Once I'm there, I need to begin looking into this Original Sin. Best to find out who's hunting me before anyone else gets hurt."

Keimusho appreciated Caius' willingness to accept the ninja's wish to be referred to by his alias despite not understanding the purpose of it. "Perhaps you are right about that. On the surface it would make little sense to use an alias in this circumstance, but I cannot completely rule out the possibility that it could provide advantages of some sorts down the line especially due to certain talents I possess." The ninja's approach to this interrogation only earned him a spit, but it was not that surprising. It was not an approach that Keimusho used back in his home world. If he was back home he would've implied lethal intent with his words, but he wanted avoid potentially scaring villagers further, but it seems that the ninja did not have to worry about that.
Keimusho looked intrigued as Caius brought the threat of violence instead. A bluff initially called out on by one of the bandits. If Caius were to theoretically strike down these bandits it could possibly damage the reputation of his mercenary guild. However there was someone there without any reputation, Mu. As Caius pointed out this fact to the bandits. One immediately coughed up exactly what they were looking for. Their boss went by Shigureh of the Original Sin, a name that obviously meant nothing to the ninja, but it could possibly mean something to Caius. It could at least be a lead for the mercenary. "See that wasn't so hard now was it?", the ninja commented to the bandits after the information was laid forth. The ninja gave the bandits yet another cold stare. "But know this. So far you have gotten off easy for your actions. Depending on what this village decides to do with you, you should take the time to repent for your consequences could be much more... dire."
Keimusho went over to see Caius off. "I should thank you for informing me that this world is one that is different from mine own and for your offer to assist me towards Torrensten, however I can manage on my own. I'm not exactly what you'd call an adventurer, but knowing that this is a new area to me perhaps I should start getting into that mindset. Perhaps a journey to learn the land while aiding people whenever I am capable. Oh and before you take your leave I'll give you my true name. It is Keimusho of the Onishi clan, but seeing as my clan is not here it would just be Keimusho Onishi. When we encounter each other again do not hesitate to request my aid should you ever require it."
Caius had kept one step ahead as best he could. Plan A was to get the okay of the villagers to kill the bandits, even if he didn't need it -- and then bluff to secure the cooperation of the bandits. If they called the bluff, which they did, Plan B had been to call on Mu in order to indicate that they would not survive should he give them to him instead. If that didn't work, Plan C would have been to ask the villagers to leave so he could try a more intimate, violent approach without killing them, enough to convince them he would kill them since he had the permission of the villagers. If even that didn't work, he did have a Plan D, even if not a very reliable one. And that would be to leave them to the mercy of the villagers and ask them to interrogate them for him and report the results to him later. Worst case scenario, if they escaped and harmed the villagers, he would kill them. That had been the final purpose of securing the cooperation of the villagers. A Plan E that he didn't want to use, but would if it proved necessary. Caius didn't normally have this many plans in tow, but in this situation... He'd had enough time and enough room to work with to think things through as far as possible before the interrogation had begun.
Luckily, Plan B had done the trick. And nothing more violent had been necessary.
As far as Mu’s desire to stay anonymous went, well, if that was the strategy he chose to employ, Caius had no reason to stop him. He preferred to make his name, even if it was dangerous for Caius, he could do his job better this way and that was what mattered. Then again, self sacrifice for the benefit of others had become his bread and butter at this point. But with that logic in mind, he also somewhat understood Mu’s desire for secrecy. For one reason or another, whatever job he was doing, that secrecy bettered his job, even if he would never be able to revel in the glory of doing it, nor have much ease in forming and keeping friendships. Caius’ advice had only been under the impression that Mu’s job was now his former job, and a new approach would be necessary seeing as he was in a new world, instead of letting old habits die hard.
Once the two were away from the village, Mu gave his real name. Keimushi, he called himself, and Caius nodded his head. "Might stick with Mu. Easier to remember" He joked in turn, grinning lightly. But it seemed that he would not be accompanying him back to town. Instead, it seemed he would be taking the time to learn the land. "Smart move" He admitted, nodding his head in approval before reaching into his pack and handing something to him. It was a large slip of paper.
"I had a spare, in case mine got damaged" He explained, referring to the map he had just given him. "It's not the most labeled, but it at least has the main key locations for this continent. But I'd make your own notes as you go, if I were you. Always helps me" He advised.
With that though, it seemed they would be going their separate ways from here. Caius smiled lightly when the man offered his aid if he ever needed it. "The same goes for you. Don't hesitate to request aid if you need it. Believe it or not, you helped me save lives today, and I won't forget that. Best of luck in your travels. If the Dragonblades ever do strike your fancy, come find myself or a woman named Celes Chere in Torensten. Tough looking woman, blonde, armored corset. Has the look of a general to her. You'll know her when you see her. Tell her I sent you, she's my partner. Don't hesitate to look for her if you just need help, too. Tough looking as she is, she's got a good heart."

Keimusho chuckled when Caius said that he’d probably just keep calling him Mu. “I’m sure that won’t be the last time someone tells me that.” Caius then assisted the ninja further by handing the Au Ra a map. The ninja took a glimpse of the contents of the slip of paper to get an idea of the surrounding area. Afterwards he slipped the paper inside of his dogi. “Thank you again. You’ve helped me out tremendously. Your information will save me from wandering around aimlessly.” Caius would similarly offer the ninja aid should he ever request it and would inform the ninja for whom to look for if he couldn’t find Caius himself. “By the sounds of it, it seems that you have plenty of good hands in the Dragonblades. You’ll definitely need them while this Original Sin of yours remains at large. They already put a bounty on your head so who knows what they’ll pull when they find out that you still breathe. Any means necessary… They must really have it out for you if they are willing to go that far or these bandits must have been really desperate for coin.”
“Well I shouldn’t keep you and your companion of yours any longer.”, Keimusho said referring to Vordun. Keimusho had very little experience with dragons barring seeing them from a distance whilst travelling to Idylshire in his homeworld, though he never seen one as young as Vordun. Though he heard that dragonkind could speak so he found it odd that the dragon was not doing so, but knowing that this was a world separate from his own he would not speculate further.
“I’m sure that you are eager to get to the bottom of this bounty of yours. In the meantime, I hope that you find the information that you are looking for. Farewell and good luck on your travels. ”, said the Au Ra giving the mercenary a bow.
