Welcome one and all to our beautiful new skin! This marks the visual era of Adventu 4.0, our 4th and by far best design we've had. 3.0 suited our needs for a very long time, but as things are evolving around the site (and all for the better thanks to all of you), it was time for a new, sleek change. The Resource Site celebrity Pharaoh Leep was the amazing mastermind behind this with minor collaborations from your resident moogle. It's one-of-a-kind and suited specifically for Adventu. Final Fantasy Adventu is a roleplaying forum inspired by the Final Fantasy series. Images on the site are edited by KUPO of FF:A with all source material belonging to their respective artists (i.e. Square Enix, Pixiv Fantasia, etc). The board lyrics are from the Final Fantasy song "Otherworld" composed by Nobuo Uematsu and arranged by The Black Mages II.
The current skin was made by Pharaoh Leap of Pixel Perfect. Outside of that, individual posts and characters belong to their creators, and we claim no ownership to what which is not ours. Thank you for stopping by.

”You sing opera?”
Celes froze. Was that what she’d implied? She supposed so, but that didn’t make it any less mortifying. ”Oh...well…” The memory crashed into her like waves into a cliff. The heavy lights. The shadowed form of a faceless crowd. Her heart pounding in her ears as her lines jumbled together and why had she agreed to this, oh god, were the others watching why were there so many eyes on her?”It was only because were desperate! It wasn’t like I wanted to!”
And then she’d played the damsel in distress. The whole experience left her sick with shame.
Still, Celes wasn’t entirely certain she liked the new shift in conversation any better. Caius gave her exactly what she’d asked for and then some, talking so fast and so much that Celes could do nothing but stare at him.
She was supposed to feed him, but not too much? She was supposed to let him hunt for himself, but if she did it wrong he’d burn the forest down? And the commands, what were they again?
There were so many points that she couldn’t possibly remember them all, and she wouldn’t remember a single one of them if her fluttering heart had anything to say about it. It was like her worry had formed a blockade between her ears and her brain, and each half-understood lesson only made it thicker. By the end, she wanted nothing more than to spew her questions out like vomit, voice squeaking higher every second.
This was exactly why she hated animals.
”A book.” Celes laughed weakly. ”I think I might need one. I’ll never remember all of this on my own.” She glanced back to Vordun. The dragon watched her like the enigma it was. ”It wouldn’t hurt to teach someone else too. I don't think I'm the best one for it.”
Celes glanced to him and offered a weak smile. ”I think it’s sweet though. How you dote on him.”Inadvisable, but sweet. She gave a short laugh. ”I’d have sooner left him in the cold. I’m not really the nurturing type to tell the truth.”
As though that wasn’t obvious. She wondered if she should have felt guilt for it as a woman. Then she berated herself for even thinking it. If anyone else had said it, she’d have smacked them upside the head. Stupid. She was a soldier, not a mother.
”This feels like learning to use a sword all over again. I have no idea what I’m doing.”
Celes appeared quite... Defensive, about the fact she had sang opera. She insisted it was because she was desperate, and Caius would tilt his head at this. "I don't know why you focus so much on it being a desperation ploy. I don't think I'd have the lungs" Caius admitted with a laugh. "That's actually pretty impressive. You'll have to teach me sometime. It sounds like a great distraction tactic" He added, his tone toward the end indicating he was joking at least a little bit.
Celes seemed... Overwhelmed at all of the information, Caius seemed to realize and he felt horrible for going on and on as he did. He didn't even know if she'd understood half of it, which was concerning. He considered a moment how to change tactics... How to make this a bit easier on her, but he was drawing blanks at the moment. He'd figure it out, he supposed. Celes admitted that this was going to be difficult to remember, though the reaffirmation about a book gave him an idea. "I could always write some notes down. If that's any easier" He offered, letting out an exhale. "I'm sorry to put all of this on you. If I could take him with me all the time, I would" He spoke up, scratching his head. He wasn't sure how to say it, but Celes was the one and only person he trusted something so important with at the moment. Only Celes. It had to be her, as much as he hated putting that responsibility on her. He hated inconveniencing her. He wouldn't if he could help it.
"If someone else becomes capable, I'll try" He responded when she suggested teaching someone else as well. That was his way of telling her that. As vague as it may sound.
Celes would state she would have left him in the cold if it were her, and he shook his head. "I doubt that" Caius responded. "Nurturing type or not, you have a bigger heart than you give yourself credit for. I don't think you would. You'd have about as much of a hard time letting it happen as I did, if the situation was reversed" He admitted. That was his impression of her, anyway. She hadn't done anything to prove him wrong so far.
The conversation turned back to Vordun and Caius leaned down to scratch him behind the ears. "You're telling me" He spoke up with a laugh when Celes admitted it was like learning to use a sword again. "But I've kind of enjoyed learning too. Even if its hard, I can take it at my own pace here, unlike back home. It's been a fun kind of challenge, and one I feel like for once in my life I can actually appreciate it."
He looked back up to Celes. "I think you'll do just fine, though. You've picked up a sword and magic, and you're one of the best at those I've ever met. He might even like you better than he likes me by the end of this" He joked in turn.

”Nurturing type or not, you have a bigger heart than you give yourself credit for.”
”Huh?” Celes blinked her surprise. A big heart. That certainly wasn’t something she’d ever though someone to associate her with. She’d been known far more commonly as a hardass, an ice queen, or more recently, a traitor. Even among the Returners, her reputation hadn’t exactly been warm. If Edgar had told her to lighten up one more time, she might have pulled a sword on him.
”I don’t really.” When had she ever been driven by her heart? When she’d objected to Kefka slaughtered hundreds? When she’d gone pining over Locke at the world’s end? When she’d berated Caius and driven off just about everyone else? She gave him a doubtful look. ”But if you say so.”
Caius must have been wrong. Terra had always been the caring type, but her? No. She simply didn’t know how.
”Better than you?” Celes laughed in disbelief. ”Now you’re making fun of me!” Still, she couldn’t help but smile. At least Caius wasn’t taking this seriously. ”A dragon is nothing like a sword and you very well know it!”
She shook her head. One of the best at those he’d ever met? That was a compliment she could take. ”I’m hopeless,” she said. ”You’ll have to write that book. I won’t stand a chance without it.” Or he’d have to leave her a manual at least. It simply sounded more exciting to suggest the latter.
”Well. I don’t think I’ll do much good out here. I might start heading back. I heard some of the new recruits talking about a job they planned to take. From the sound of it, I might need to chaperone them.” Celes glanced at Caius before pushing her hair behind her ear. The afternoon had been nice. Memorable, she supposed, in its complete lack of importance, but in the end, that kind of quiet life simply wasn’t meant for her. Maybe someday. Somehow she doubted she’d ever deserve it.
”I’m glad you invited me out here. I’ll have to try again with Vordun sometime.” She glanced to the dragon. It had settled in the grass, chin on its paws. ”I’ll see you back in the city.”
Caius laughed heartily when Celes denied it and stated he was making fun of her, but he shook his head afterwords. He was absolutely serious. "If I were wrong, I would not be here doing what I am doing as part of the Dragonblades. Your heart is why we are where we're at" He reminded her, with a gentle smile. "You don't give yourself enough credit for how admirable what you've done is, nor how much doing what you do has changed the lives of others. Especially mine."
She could be a hardass, certainly. He knew that side of her quite well. But it was the heartier side of Celes, all puns intended, that had dictated their relationship and what had led them where they were now. Of course, he was talking about what Celes had done during his most vulnerable, most pained moments. A moment that could have led him down a path that he wouldn't have been very proud of unchecked, and Celes had been the one to act in a way that not even Caius at the time would have, had he been in her place. That told him that she had a far bigger heart than he did, and perhaps more than she gave herself credit for. It was difficult to ignore, no matter how much she denied it. What was clear though was that Caius thought the world of Celes, though he wasn't sure if she saw that.
"Aye, I'll write you some extended notes" He answered then. At least before the grin came. "Then maybe one day if I do write that book you can help" The glaive joked then. She was right though, raising a dragon was nothing like a sword. But like with a sword, it was a challenge he welcomed. Especially now that he had the time to. Time without having to spend every waking moment in fear of daemons.
Either way, it seemed Celes was ready to head out and help out some recruits. He smiled and nodded his head then. "Let me know if you need a hand" He offered as he waved to her as she headed off. "I'm sure Vordun would like that. I'll catch up to you when I'm finished here."
As Celes walked off, Caius let out a yawn as he looked to Vordun. "You look like you're done" He spoke toward the dragon, who opened an eye to peer up at him. It didn't look like they would be getting anymore training done, he supposed. Oh well.
Inching back until he was leaned against the nearby tree, Caius would stare up at the sky, feeling the most relaxed he'd ever felt for the first time in a long time. He could just fall asleep here, he realized. Nothing and nobody would attack him out here with a dragon present. He had all the time in the world to just... To just...
He could feel Vordun climb onto him and snuggle into his chest as the dragon curled up, and it wasn't long before Caius' own eyes would begin to slowly droop.
He'd check in on Celes later, he supposed... For now he wanted to just...
Be.
It would be evening by the time he woke up, and the glaive along with his dragon would make their way back to the city.
