Welcome one and all to our beautiful new skin! This marks the visual era of Adventu 4.0, our 4th and by far best design we've had. 3.0 suited our needs for a very long time, but as things are evolving around the site (and all for the better thanks to all of you), it was time for a new, sleek change. The Resource Site celebrity Pharaoh Leep was the amazing mastermind behind this with minor collaborations from your resident moogle. It's one-of-a-kind and suited specifically for Adventu. Final Fantasy Adventu is a roleplaying forum inspired by the Final Fantasy series. Images on the site are edited by KUPO of FF:A with all source material belonging to their respective artists (i.e. Square Enix, Pixiv Fantasia, etc). The board lyrics are from the Final Fantasy song "Otherworld" composed by Nobuo Uematsu and arranged by The Black Mages II.
The current skin was made by Pharaoh Leap of Pixel Perfect. Outside of that, individual posts and characters belong to their creators, and we claim no ownership to what which is not ours. Thank you for stopping by.
Aranea dug the dirt from underneath her nails waiting for the boys to get done with their conversations and sit down to business. She glanced over to Caius trying to read him since he was the one she had the least exposure and time to know only to see him crying. "Um," she said a grimace quickly replacing in semblance of apathy and stoicism. She could have understood this reaction from Prompto and maybe even one of the other two but Aranea had never really like expressing that level of emotions out in the open. Must have something to do with that weird connection glaives and the kings had. "Trust me once you get to know him, there's really nothing to cry over," she teased giving Noctis a "really" look before throwing over a napkin to Caius
"Well shit," she commented listening to Noctis' story. So he really had come back for them. The only hope they had all been holding out for had returned to them. Not that she was there for it, there was no way she would have let the four of them go into Insomnia alone even if it was a suicide mission just to make sure Noctis got to Ardyn. Aranea smirked at the thought. They hadn't needed her at all. She'd have to give them some credit when the time was right. Her expression soured even more as Noctis explained just exactly how he had done Ardyn in last time.
She waited for a few seconds as she watched Noctis's face sink into something pensive and somber. In the worry lines, she could almost see the king he would grow into as she folded her arms. Kid had it in him all along. Aranea was about to begin strategizing, but Prompto beat her to the punch. Aranea nodded in agreement at his words before throwing up her hand in agreement. "Blondie's got a point," she said turning her head to each of them in turn, "Now, I'm not one to believe in all this prophecy nonsense, but charging Ardyn head on isn't the smartest of ideas."
"Not sure who this Lightning is, but if you say we can trust her then I'd say that should be your first priority," Aranea suggested looking at each of them as if she were commodore once more giving out orders to newbie rookies. "Prompto, how bout you focus on trying to find specs and Gladdy? You," she motioned to Caius, "Maybe you can help with either of those." She didn't know any of his strength or weaknesses and so thought it best to pair him off for now unless he had a better idea. "I'm working with Luna on restoring her memory. Say we need the Oracle for this, but we need to keep a low profile. Our best course of action is for Ardyn not to know we know we know each other are here. Even better would be to avoid him completely, but you know how he can just slime his way anywhere you don't want him to be."
Although the words were a suggestion she said it with a graveness that told them all they would be dealing with her if any of them decided they wanted to play hero without a definitive plan. She stared at Noctis the longest. King or not, he'd somehow gained her respect and friendship and she wasn't going to let him do something stupid if she could help it.
Caius had been quiet throughout the discussion for a good while. He was still overcome with emotion and the shock of it all. But he was listening. Noctis said something about giving Ardyn rest from his immortality. It matched up with something that he had gleamed from Ardyn's seeming hatred for his immortality, though he denied any of it when asked. Caius had gotten little information from his attempt to interrogate the one that the tales called Adagium, but he'd gotten enough to make little guesses and concoct a theory or two. That he wanted a release from his immortality was a pretty likely one, but Noctis for whatever reason seeming to want to release him from it himself indicated that the theory had some merit.
It also sounded as though Noctis had been weakened by the battle. Caius hadn't known Noctis well, so he wouldn't have known that his link to the Arms had been weakened. But after several years, counting the time spent after Ardyn's defeat back home, and then the time that had passed since Caius had come here... Shouldn't his powers have come back by now if they were weakened? It had been such a long time, and he was saying they were still slowly getting back, coming back, getting better... It puzzled him once more. It was far too long of a time for that to take, if it was still growing enough to be notable.
He brought up another threat, and that they had allies in a Luna and Lightning. Luna, the Oracle did he mean?
Wait a minute...
Hadn't the Oracle been struck down?
Caius continued watching this, but kept his emotions in check and his expression as smooth as a statue.
There was also something about him saying it had taken all that they had that gave him pause. That was a figure of speech, right? Since he was standing right there... And he'd been just fine in their world before, as far as he knew.
Either way, Aranea would take charge and begin relaying instructions. Caius didn't speak at first, but did nod his head and respond when addressed.
"I have experience working with Prompto. We can find the two that you're referring to, if they are here as well."
When the night has come And the land is dark And the moon is the only light we'll see No, I won't be afraid Oh, I won't be afraid Just as long as you stand, stand by me
❞
Noctis had listened to his allies, his friends, as they discussed their plans to try and nip the situation in the bud.
"Luna is the only one I know of that could help combat the effects of the scourge… And we have to work fast. I don't know if it's because this isn't Eos, or if it's because of how long Ardyn had to make things fester and grow back home, but it's progressing slower, here. I can still feel it, though. The darkness eating at people, slowly changing them. It's sickening… and there's not much we can do about it, right now."
He looked at Aranea. "She's right about facing him. The rumors of his location have been solid enough that, if we play our card right, we can find the others without him even knowing we're looking." He would run his hand across his chin, regarding the stubble on his chin with a fleeting thought, before standing up straight.
"Knowing Ignis and Gladio like I do, I can figure one of three things. Alone, Iggy would find civilization and gain information of where we're at. Gladio would travel, knowing how to survive in harsh and unknown places. Together, I think I would lean more towards them staying at or near a city, and if they've found each other, I hope that gives them the hope that we're here as well." he said, motioning to Prompto and Aranea. "They'll likely either come looking for us, or stay put so we can find them."
"I'm sure Ardyn knows that I'm here. Especially if he's run into you, already, Aranea. I just hope that he stays passive enough to regroup and decide what we're going to do."
Knowing that this is the end... seeing you all here now... it's more than I can take!
The words came across his mind, and almost reached his lips again, realizing that it wasn't the end. But it was hardly a second chance.
We all good?
Better than good.
Good to go!
He looked over to Prompto, and gave a nod. "Once I finish getting Lightning back, I'll find you. I'll find you all." he looked across, to Caius and then to Aranea. "We're all we have. So, we need to survive. For this world, and for each other." he said these last words before lowering his arms, his posture straightening, confidence in his voice.
Prompto tried to say something else but only a pained whimper, muffled by his instinctual need to prevent others from letting know he had a problem as a sharp pain tore through his mind.
Images of adventures he couldn't remember manifested. Sounds of building collapsing as soon as something came into contact with them; the familiar sound of his own gun firing away at a shadowy figure, seated upon a throne set alight by flames; there was also the warm sensation of Gladio's hand on his back, and the intense temperatures of their surroundings and there was a smokiness in the air that seeped into his already burning lungs as he desperately tore through the battlefield, towards the source of the inferno—
He vaguely remembered Noctis talking about Lightning, about getting her back, and there was a quality to his voice that promised nothing but absolution in bringing her back. Not just her, but he was pretty sure that they'd reunite with Ignis and Gladio, once they found them.
The hand that had been gripping his friend's shoulder relaxed, realising that he had probably reached out to steady himself as soon as his memories returned to him. Prompto quickly let go, not wanting Noctis to further question him about his current state. It was already bad enough thar Aranea was worrying; he didn't need Noct to do the same. His eyes swept over the other two before returning to the dark-haired man standing next to him.
"Of course we will," Prompto responded. "What about Ifrit? Do you think the Astrals have returned as well?"
